Ever feel your soul aching, breaking
Falling into cavernous despair
Un shed tears held behind gated walls
Heart heavy weighted in a pool of gray

          No one promised you a rose garden…….

Good deeds, caring words falling on deaf ears
Silent echoes reverberating unsound
Four walls holding in only emptiness
Silence, gray, quiet, nothing.

          No one promised you a rose garden —

Even death holds companions aplenty
Gathered heroes aligned together
They walk away the distance growing
Leaving solitude multiplying exponentially

          No one promised you a rose garden-

Bowed head and body closed
No entrance to this heart or soul
Scars amassed too many to number
No place left to mark anew

            No one promised you a rose garden-

The blood trickles out- a fine line dripping slowly
Patch it up once again- for what? If I only knew..
No one promised you a rose garden—
            did they have to leave only the thorns?

Ok... I KNEW that my dear friend had a great heart. I always marvel at the beauty of her poems... I am not much good at them, so I look around.

I have found these, fooling around the net... You know that I am good at finding... things when I search. This has been reputedly written by a young soldier who received massive and permanently debilitating injuries in the American Civil War.

*coughs*

My Prayer

I asked for strength that I might achieve;
    I was made weak that I might obey.
I asked for health that I might do greater things;
    I was given infirmity that I might do better things.
I asked for riches that I might be happy;
    I was given poverty that I might be wise.
I asked for power that I might have the praise of men;
    I was given weakness that I might feel the need of God.
I asked for all things that I might enjoy life;
    I was given life that I might enjoy all things.
I have received nothing I asked for, all that I hoped for.
    My prayer is answered.

Ah and also...  this other one, I like... from Karin Schaefer

There are days when
bubbling from us comes
the innocent child within,
who giggles at the little things
and wears a silly grin.

There are days when
melancholy comes to
visit for a while;
the mind feels tired, the body weak;
we have no strength to smile.

There are days when
joy abundant
grabs a hold of you and me;
wraps us up in all it's splendor,
lifts us up and sets us free.

There are days when
sorrow wraps us
in its cloak of grief and fear,
'till our hearts ache to the breaking,
'till our eyes can't shed a tear.

There are days when
love bestows us
with its wonderment and light;
with its beauty and its mystery,
its power and its might.

And there are days when
life rewards us
and seems to make amends
by granting us a marvelous gift,
the precious gift of Friends.

Beautiful poems, my dear friend..I thank you for sharing them..
It is our dearest friends that oftentimes pick up the pieces and help put us back together again..

And Lord Drake has dropped a challenge to me..which I cannot resist! I write a poem and rhyme for rhyme he will 'find' one ...to match!
So..here goes!

Moonlight's Cape..

When all is said and done..
            And day is finished and night's begun..
When sunlight sheds its cloak of gold
           and moonlight's cape of darkness cold
Sweeps over earth and blenkets all..
           In folds of hazy, misty call..
Voices soft of echoes past..
           Reach out to grope and find at last..
The peace and slumber eluding each..
           Never quite within their reach..
And we, those left behind below..
           Find paltry solace in sun's glow..
Each daybreak a promise made..
          Only to be broken in night's shade..
Let me sleep in slumber deep and long..
          And awake to find contentment's song..
Let me shed the coat of life's long tears..
          And embrace tomorrow's dawn, no fears.

AND here we go looking on the net...

Endure

If I can endure for this moment,
whatever is happening to me.
No matter how heavy my heart,
or how dark the moment may be.
If I can but keep on believing,
what I know in my heart to be true.
Then darkness will fade into morning,
and with this dawn a new day, too.

Love knows no bounds
                                         ......as long as it does not ask too much
Love envelops - surrounds
                                         .......as long as it requires no fuss.
Love offers unending support
                                          .......as long as it is at his request
Love laughs, smiles, cavorts
                                          .......as long as it is what he suggests.

One-sided it would appear..
                                              how did I not see?
How could my eyes, heart, mind be so unclear?
                                              He fooled no one but me.

Pain so deep,
                      Tearing me apart..
Can't eat, think, sleep
                      Will it always be 'dark'?

"That which does not kill us
                     Makes us strong"
Unspoken, unsaid: withered trust,
                    Their motto, their saying- all wrong!

Empty, hollow, shattered I be
                    Numb, bleak, sad and gray,
Wishing for darkness to take me
                    Never again this pain, I pray.

Ok... are YOU in a bad mood recently??

Here we are:

Forgiveness

The dreams you dream
are merely images
of a darkened soul
inflicting pain on me.
Drown your acceptance
and believe in me.
The power of love
is all I need.
The warmth of your touch
the motion, the feel
entirely of your heartbeat.
Do you love?
Are you free?
Can you let go of
all those secluded worries?
I love your compassion
I can hear your heart beat for another,
to love you like I do.
Why won't you realize
my love is for you
I understand you want to leave
and I will release you.
But let it be known
it was only Love for you
I have ever shown

Is this better?  :-)

Beyond the Pale of Day

Beyond the pale of day..
Coated in silken whites..
Floating on gilded wings..
Of Angels pure delight..

Just beyond the horizon..
Where the sun's rays beat its breast..
And the moon's luminous smiling face
Sends sleepy kisses to bring rest..

Beyond all of this..
If you could just see that far..
If your faith could just take you
To that sprakling, glistening star..

Your eyes would behold..
The brightest light of day..
Showering you with hope
and showoing you the way..

But..when darkness enters your heart..
You slam the door on this
It is your choice..your decision..
To live in black despair or the light of bliss..

Better... although, when we are in dismay... we are not alone. There is plenty of friends and loved ones whocan help us make... that choice.

    I Shall Be Glad
    by Grace Noll Crowell

    If I can put new hope within the heart
    Of one who has lost hope,
    If I can help a brother up
    Some difficult long slope
    That seems too steep for tired feet to go,
    If I can help him climb
    Into the light upon the hill's far crest,
    I shall begrudge no time
    Or strength that I spend, for well I know
    How great may be his need.
    If I can help through any darkened hour,
    I shall be glad indeed.

    For I recall how often I have been
    Distressed, distraught, dismayed,
    And hands have reached to help, and voices called
    That kept me unafraid.
    If I can share this help that I have had,
    God knows I shall be glad.

That poem..is most touching...thank you dear friend..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before Dawn...
In the space before dawn
When the world is at peace..
When slumber is met
And problems and worries cease..
In that magical time..
When all can be done.
And wishes are real.
And clouds never shadow the sun.
In this land of Dreams..
Where each thought is true..
And every story you weave,
Is really a part of you..
It is here in Hope..
That our ideas turn around.
And the hurt and sorrow of life..
Fall to the ground.
Would that I could remain..
In this dreamlike place
Where happiness floats
Lies, tears..not a trace.
But awake I must
And face the day
The bad and the good
Come what may.
But I will keep with me
A piece of that Hope
held tightly near my heart
As each day with life I cope.
It will ward off sorrow,
Evil and dismay..
And remind that the sun rises again..
Each and every day.
Beautiful... and about Hope this is Emily Dickinson talking
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,
And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.
I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.
