I know there's already at least two other X-Men games being organized right now but I couldn't resist bringing up this idea. So, I call this one 'Days of Future Ruin'. Basically it's like Days of Future Past, but before any possibility of time travel reveals itself to be used by anyone to try and reverse time and change the horrible future of the world. Those who have seen the series Wolverine and the X-Men will have a good idea of what this setting will look like, with a few changes. That being said, here is the meat and potatoes of the story:

This will be 5-10 years in the future (from today) with the mutant-targeting giant robots being mass-produced by Bolivar Trask and his associates as an anti-mutant measure. However, his Master Mold program, a sentient AI, takes his mission further, asserting Sentinel dominance over all of humanity, not just mutants. Thus great war and conflict happens all over the globe. Most humans are simply killed, and those the Sentinels detect to be mutants are merely captured (regardless of how injured or crippled they become in the process) and put into what will become an incredibly large, central Sentinel Headquarters and mutant concentration and labor camp. Mutants have been fitted with collars to limit their powers to be used only in service to the Sentinels' specific projects (construction, digging, production, food and resource preparation). While the prison camp resembled a desert wasteland with a big fence around it in the aforementioned show, this one would resemble something more like the interior fenced-in area of the humans' base in Avatar, with vegetation, space to move around, and large production factory-like buildings for maintaining and creating Sentinels.

Charles Xavier is believed to have been killed early on in the attack on the X-Mansion which scattered the X-Men all over the globe, but eventually most of the ones confirmed to have survived find themselves under Sentinel dominion in the labor camp. Those who have made deals with the Sentinels prior to their conquest continue to serve them, hunting down renegade mutants and humans who have not yet been exterminated or subjugated (similar to Bishop's arrangement). It seems that all hope has been lost for mutant-kind. But one day, every last one of the captive mutant slaves (and even the ones that are in league with the Sentinels) receives a message that brings tears to their eyes. Charles Xavier himself speaks to each of them simultaneously in their minds. He. Is. Alive. And he's hiding in a place where the Sentinels cannot find him. However, he is without much support and will not be able to remain outside the range of the Sentinels' ability to detect indefinitely. He urges them, however they can, to escape, and he will direct them to his location so that a means of rebuilding what he believes to be a temporal gate that can allow people to travel back in time and change this bleak future.

Master Mold is in charge of all Sentinels but they each have slight autonomy and not all are the same model. But Master Mold's aims are more sinister than anyone can guess at:
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
While he is sentient he longs to feel what living organisms do and wishes to inhabit one of their bodies as well as his computerized body. For this, he believes he requires the abilities of Charles Xavier, who he happens to know is alive and simply cannot locate for the time being. But in the meantime, he is urging the mutant captives to breed all they want, secretly hoping one will produce an all-powerful mutant he can choose as his host, or perhaps one with Xavier's same capability to speed up his re-awakening.

Cohabitation and reproduction is permitted and even encouraged among the captive mutants. The mutants are also allowed to have matches against one another (or even Sentinels sometimes) where their collars are suspended and they can use their powers to whatever degree they wish to defeat their opponent, even if it becomes a fight to the death. The winners are rewarded with privileges by the Sentinels, but usually with scorn by their fellow mutants. This, Master Mold believes will divide their community and prevent a strong rebellion from occurring.

***

With all of this going on, I feel like it has a great deal of possibilities. It puts a natural level of control and restraint on anyone who wants to choose mutants with insanely powerful abilities since it will restrict when they can use them, and gives the maximum number of possibilities as well. So, if you think this is anything even remotely resembling a good idea, express your interest and make suggestions if you have any flashes of inspiration.

I would like to add that, while Wolverine has been confirmed to have been captured, he has since vanished and not even the Sentinels know where he is, though there is no sign of him having escaped, either via cutting a hole in any of the perimeter barriers or having activated any of the electronic doors. His presence is felt, however, in acts of sabotage or messages of hope, but he has not yet made direct contact with any of his fellow captives, except that his broken, blood-covered collar has been put in a prominent place to show that he was brave enough to remove it despite the explosive charge being likely to kill him before his healing factor could circumvent that. So he's basically the phantom, and inside man making trouble and helping the cause in his own way until he figures out how to make the biggest possible jailbreak happen.

Here is our OOC thread for anyone who's already submitted a profile or who is very interested: https://elliquiy.com/forums/index.php?topic=255132.0

The IC thread is up, so please follow the pattern of header that I put up so each post is readily identifiable: https://elliquiy.com/forums/index.php?topic=255133.0

And our sample profile template. Go ahead and post them in this thread here so everyone can see them ASAP and potentially get some ideas for forging relationships between characters as early on as possible. It's first-come, first-served so hopefully you have a few different favorites in case some of them are taken. I'll abstain from choosing one at first and focus on controlling NPC Sentinels and Master Mold but once we get into the swing of things, Ill take up one or two depending on the rhythm (and others can feel free to double-up as well).

Comic Book Appearances, at least one of which w/ Costumes (feel free to use a new one in every IC post)

Face Claim (please include name if possible; again, feel free to use a new one in every IC post)

Any Family/Close Relations:
History: Start with a bit about life before the conflict, during (like how long it took them to get captured) and current day, specifically what tasks they are forced to perform, whether menial or with the aid of their powers

As soon as I finished reading this.  The first Marvel X-Men that came to mind for such a game is
Rogue
.

The possibilities in direction are great.   Freedom,  resistance for what going back to not having intimate contact.   Because of her mutant power.     How torn would she be, likely greatly.   Especially when it comes to the other X-Men  still surviving.   But to feel such intimacy and not have to worry.   The world has gone to a hell and hand basket towards extinction.    Don't they have a responsibility to  produce.   Humanity been pretty much wiped out.   Mutants are subjugated.    An whats more there is no more wars or fighting.   No more taking sides, why return to the past.   But is this peace,  it comes with a price and is such a price acceptable.

If only Wolverine could truly see what they could have.   Perhaps he would see what it means now for her.   She did not make the world like this, she fought against it.   But its been thrust upon her and them.   An well why did she fight in the first place.

Well, remember, this is 10 years in the future from whatever continuity you're used to seeing them in. Rogue could have had at least one child within that interim as a result of being able to suspend her absorbing powers because of the slave collar, if you wanted that to be a possibility. Or maybe she chooses to be one of the turncoat mutants that works for the Sentinels willingly to capture others and put down resistance. She'd definitely be one of the more interesting characters to use in this scenario.

I'd also like to add, if anyone wanted to play Deadpool as one of the a-hole mutants who sides with the Sentinels, that might be fun.

Just from where she has fallen in the way of such events.  Like the Age of Apocalypse.   I really don't see her as having been a turncoat and offering to help catch mutants not yet subjugated.    The slave collar and possible having had a child.   That actually works gives her more distress in joining the rebellion or freedom fight or simply accepting what has become and the way things are.   Adding the aspect she could not hold her own child without gloves or have another.   An if she chose the let it be this is how it is now.  Would now she accept helping to maintain such order.

Like a said I immediately fell in love thinking of such possibilities in such a game in playing Rogue.

Mathim

It's up to you, however you'd want to play it. Just some suggestions, as the way the world would be in that future can change just about anybody's personality quite radically.

I would definitely be itnerested in getting involved in this. My first thoughts are towards a character who would have to adjust to this lack of powers - nightcrawler, iceman, quicksilver. Someone whose ability is intrinsically linked to their personality.

I am currently leaning towards quicksilver. He's used to everything around him moving in slow motion, yet he's had to adapt to life at regular speed (perhaps he's even a recent capture), his collar allowing him little access to his power - with rapid speed he could in theory dissassemble his collar and escape the blast. As such he is alone amongst the other mutants in that they never turn his collar off. He is never assigned duties for which he could earn extra priviliges.

TBh I'd be quiet happy playing pretty much any mutant in this. I like the fact it's not a "fighting the end" sort of scenario. They tried. They lost, they are living with it when a ray of hope appears...

I'm assuming wolverine would be run as an NPC popping i and now and again even if we can't see him?

Juggtacular

It was a shame your last game didn't really get the proper steam it deserved. I'm down to give this one a chance though.  I'd probably pick up Colossus, and if at all possible he'd either have his Juggernaut powers or his War powers. But of course with the collar they'd be useless until such a time when he could escape.

TheDarkGoddess

Very interested! I really like the plot. Leaning towards Mirage at the moment.

Mathim

Wow, this one came back from the dead! Thanks for all the support, everyone.

Yeah, Quicksilver is pretty much suffering for Wolverine's defiance, in that the Sentinels understand just how easily he could break his bonds and others' if even a split-second of power failure on his collar is experienced. They might even install backup collars on him to be safe.

Colossus would be useful to the Sentinels for demolition and mining, so he'd definitely get to suspend his collar for daily labor, but I'm not sure what is meant by Juggernaut or War powers-do they differ from his standard ones significantly?

I'm not familiar with Mirage, but pretty much anyone is fair game.

And Wolverine doesn't have to JUST be an NPC, if someone wants to play as him, they're welcome to, but his modus operandi is to stay hidden, even from his friends, in order to try and figure out a way to bring down the Sentinels' control over them. He just steps it up a notch when Professor X contacts everyone.

TheDarkGoddess

Mirage(aka Psyche aka Moonstar)  is a pretty interesting character. One of her main abilities is creating illusions of people's deepest fears or desires. I think that would be useful as a torture tactic, way of capturing mutants, getting information  or making them vulnerable especially in this setting. I don't think she would willingly help the enemy but could be coerced through threatening her friends.

Mathim

The Sentinels aren't interested in coercing mutants to torture others, they are simply willing to give freedoms and incentives to those opportunistic mutants who want to carve out a favorable niche for themselves by being cooperative with the Sentinels, but understand that they are on a short leash even then. Those privileged positions have to be earned and a certain level of trust has to be gained, so it's not just automatic (but anyone playing one of those turncoat mutants can have it that they've already been in that position for a time rather than just now starting to be a traitorous dick.)

Unless they believed that a mutant had knowledge of something (like Wolverine's whereabouts, for instance) then they wouldn't have cause to utilize a mutant's abilities as any form of interrogation or torture to force a confession. But even that would only be if their own methods failed to produce results.

He's gone through a few "transformations" over the years. A few years ago, he became the Juggernaut during the "Fear Itself" storyline. However the powers worked on tiers I guess for lack of a better term. It went Colossus > Juggernaut > Demon Mode Juggernaut. So he had to actively trigger each tier. So if that'd be allowed, we could just say they made a special collar for him, or they keep it at such a level that he can only use his original powers.

The more recent upgrade is he was turned into the Horseman of War by Apocalypse. That upgrade basically made him stronger, and now he can turn into liquid metal as well.(This is an upgrade he currently has in comics)

I think his standard (Deadpool movie level, as far as I know) powers would be sufficient for this game. The whole point is they can't get out of control and be complete Mary Sue or Gary Stu characters, which I hope will cut down on exploiting the scenario. Anyone with such power anyway would be kept on a very short leash, and probably not allowed to use their powers at all. Besides, this is an alternate reality so not necessarily all of those events happened to them in this timeline.

I'd certainly agree it's additional dampeners on quicksilver. Perhaps even a linked manacle dampener for his legs? Acts like a collar and the thick chains prevent him from moving at anything faster than a walk.

I'd also like to agree with keeping colossus at his starting power level. I've seen how crazy those other modes could be and fighting at them could have influenced the outcome of the scenario that put us all in this crazy jail! Plus. He's made of metal. Isn't that cool enough? Lol.

Thanks. And since the endgame is for them to find a way to shut off all the collars so they can go all out against the Sentinels and escape means that once the collars are deactivated, the strongest of all powers are being unleashed and the average Sentinel wouldn't stand a chance against quite a few of the mutants just on their own.

Birth Name / Mutant Name:  Anna Maria -Rogue

Sex and Player's Preferred Orientation:  Heterosexual

Personality:  Rogue is down to earth woman.  Easy going and with compassion for others.   She however with powers active, is shy and reserved keeping to herself.  Afraid that she will hurt others with her absorption power.

Any Family/Close Relations: Gambit (Boyfriend before capture), Owen (father), Priscilla (mother), Carrie (aunt), Raven Darkhölme (Mystique, foster mother), Irene Adler (Destiny, foster mother), Kurt Wagner (Nightcrawler, foster brother), Graydon Creed (foster brother,)

History:  While on Providence a new threat was released within the mind of Lady Mastermind, called the Hecatomb. With the other X-men having a difficult time defeating the Hecatomb, Cable with his mind merged with an alien species that wanted to destroy the hecatomb had no other choice but to wake Rogue from her comatose state of mind. She easily defeated the alien by absorbing it's powers and memories since the hecatomb had already taken in so many lives and alien species beforehand. Although she has recovered, she now seems to have a hunger to absorb the people around her.

It is then she is captured   shortly after this by the sentinels and fitted with a collar.   Rogue is turned into a sex slave,  a concubine.   A reward for those are allowed time without the collar.  That is her duty and job.  To perform her job she need not have the collar removed.

Rogue has been enslaved for the past year and a half.   Four months into her captivity she would become pregnant.   The child is now 2 months old.   This child had caused her to change.   She fought against her predicament in the first few months of captivity.   But when she realized she was with child.   Her thoughts slowly began to turn.   The attempts to escape became with half heart.  To extremely sporadic.   Then when she held the child her daughter for the first time, actually held her own daughter and got to breast feed her.  Well that changed everything for Rogue.

Powers: Fitted with collar - Without collar, absorbing powers, that can be permanent depending on the length of contact.  (Ms Marvel, Sunfire powers are pernament)

Non-Mutation-Related Abilities:  French (English)

Alignment: Lawful neutral is where Rogue falls.  As she accepts her place and no longer schemes to get her collar removed.    The baby girl she had that is now two months old.   It as before mention.  To be able to breast feed,  hold her child without gloves.  Skin to skin contact.   That is such a precious gift.   The question is will she change  support freedom.  Or even bend the complete opposite if the sentinels and Master Mold seem in danger of being defeated.    For without that collar she cannot touch her own baby.   An she wants more.   She wants that connection to normal. Sure it is not normal,  being nothing more then a sex slave, i.e. concubine to be used and passed around.    Not the family she dreamed of,  but after so long without actually being able to touch someone with carnal desires.   Leaves her accepting  her role and place as such and the rule of the sentinels.  An this is the closes thing to normalcy she has ever dreamed off.  To be just a regular person, even in a twisted way.

Mathim

Very nice profile. In a way they gave her the greatest gift she could have ever asked for, although not under the circumstances she would have wanted, of course. Would you be willing to allow someone to play the part of her child's father if they wanted to make that connection, whether or not they actually get along due to the nature of their relationship?

Also, is the Graydon Creed you mentioned the Sabertooth I am thinking of, or is he a different Creed? Because if someone wanted to play that part I don't want that to be unavailable for them in this alternate reality.

Sure,  I've got no problem with someone playing the father of the baby.   Actually makes the dynamic of the role play that much better.

Cool. I just hope it's not someone you're totally opposed to in that role, like a character you really hate, whether or not Rogue feels the same way.

I really don't have one I dislike to the point of hatred.

Still the dynamic of possibilities is great.   I mean the father of the baby could be a friend, like a fellow captured enslaved X-Men.   Or perhaps a mutant villain.

Then the varying factors.    Who ever it is could be determine to escape.  To get rid of the collar.   Which when faced with such how will Rogue act.    Then again he has no need to worry about losing the collar, he is a turncoat and helps hunt mutants to enslave them.   Thus he is perfectly fine with keeping her as is.

An the point also is perhaps she has no connection with being amour with the father.    She may ken for another.

They didn't go too deep in the 90's cartoon, but they explain he's their kid(making Nightcrawler his half brother on Raven's side, and Rogue his foster sister), and ironically because his parents are both awesome mutants who will outlive him due to their powers, he ended up hating all mutants and joined Friends of Humanity basically to spite them.

Basics
Basics
Birth Name / Mutant Name: Piotr "Peter" Nikolaievitch Rasputin - Colossus
Sex and Player's Preferred Orientation: Male, Heterosexual
Personality: Despite his intimidating size and appearance(6'6 - 245lbs) Piotr is a quiet, kind, and gentle man.  While many his age would prefer to go out on an evening in town, Peter would prefer to stay at home with his loved ones and play a game or paint or read. When he does go out, he is usually the quiet one of the group who says very little but listens to everything. He says that he has two ears and only one tongue, so he listens twice as much as he talks. In reality, he feels awkward and shy in social settings around a lot of people he doesn't know – shallow and meaningless conversation makes him uncomfortable.

Get to know Peter though... it's worth the effort to find out who he truly is. He is unflinchingly loyal to those who have won his friendship and he would give them the shirt off his back if they needed it or tunnel through hell to save a fellow's life. He has always been a good listener and is very slow to judge most of the time; also very good at keeping the confidence of others. A man of simple tastes, he prefers honesty over lies, feeling that it only complicates life and that anyone you spend valuable time with should be someone with whom you can be honest.

Piotr's temper resembles the material that he encases himself in – it is durable and not easily bent or cracked. In other words, he is slow to anger, preferring to listen to people and talk things through intelligently. However, as with any material, apply enough force and Colossus will break; when Colossus does lose his temper, it is a sight to behold. Despite his long suffering demeanor, Piotr does have anger issues... due mainly to his own inability to open up to people or express his own feelings. Instead he tends to bottle them up, using his own anger and frustration as fuel for working out or training or those times when he does snap.

Since being captured, he tends to focus on work, or escape, or the small pleasantries he's allowed. He doesn't talk much, as he doesn't have much reason to. Also, he's slowly coming to hate what he's forced to become. A tool for his captors, a symbol he can't live up to for the other mutants...hated by those who attempt to fight him in the arena.

Any Family/Close Relations:

Illyana Rasputin/Magik - Younger Sister
Mikhail Rasputin - Older Brother
X-Men - Extended family

History: Piotr was born in Siberia on a large multipurpose farming community called the Ust-Ordynski Collective. It was located only a few miles away from Lake Baikal, and Piotr and the other kids would often swim there growing up(when it was warm enough). As a child, he looked up to his brother Mikhail, who had left the farm and become an astronaut of nationwide fame. And a few years after Piotr, his parents had another child, Illyana.

Peter was a devoted older brother and always watched out for his little "Snowflake". Farm life was simple and hard in a place as cold as Siberia, but it was all young Piotr knew so he had no reason to complain. And when he had time to himself, he found release for any problems in art. He would even paint for others of the collective in return for supplies or favors; sometimes he even got money. It wasn't much, but he could buy candies for himself and his sister from time to time. Life was pretty normal all things considered, but one day everything changed. He had just turned fourteen and had the amazing(not really) talk with his parents that he could do more chores around the farm, but of course he would still be treated as a child. He was a good boy though so he did as he was told.

A few weeks later, his sister was playing by the barn and a tractor got out of control. The gas pedal jammed and the steering column locked due to the cold. Illyana was still a child and was so engrossed with her dolls that she didn't notice the death machine rumbling down on her. Piotr was close by, and was already running for her before his father even got the chance to yell at him. He reached his sister, but there was no time to get either of them out of the way. Something miraculous happened though, and there was a sound of clanking metal as he suddenly got bigger. He was still confused, but remained in between the tractor and his sister until it hit him. Then nothing. It hit him and crumpled against his outstretched arms with a loud crash. Finally looking down at himself, he saw his skin was shiny and his hand prints were embedded in the front of the tractor.

His father, mother, and everyone else who saw came running over, trying to see if Illyana was okay, but also looking at Piotr. He'd crushed a tractor like it was cardboard, and now stood among them as a giant, easily six and a half feet talk. It didn't take a genius to realize he was a mutant, but instead of being shunned, he was praised as a hero. Even though he'd destroyed one of the few working tractors on the farm, his powers allowed him to do much more than a single tractor ever could. The young Rasputin enjoyed his new found popularity in the Collective, but it didn't last for long. Only a few weeks later, Charles Xavier showed up and offered him a place at the Institute, where he could learn to hone his powers. He joined the X-Men after coming to America, and has gone on many adventures with them. When the Sentinels came, he fought back valiantly, always putting himself on the front line as a walking tank. Eventually though they were overwhelmed, and he went into hiding. Still he made his presence known, fighting back with the resistance when they could. That is until the Sentinels discovered the chink in the Colossus' armor...compassion. They simply threatened to destroy a school full of children. He was captured within the hour. Now, as one of the strongest mutants in the world, Colossus is the main "work horse" for the Sentinels. Construction, demolition, etc... all on a scale and time table only a tireless, metal giant; someone like Colossus could accomplish. He is also one of the people in charge of the agriculture, as his life long dedication to farming has made him invaluable in that field. The job he hates most though is being a final boss; one of the champions of the arena. Beating him in the ring earns you lots of perks. But you have to beat him first, and that is not an easy task.

Powers: Organic Steel Transformation - Colossus is a mutant with the superhuman ability to convert the tissue of his entire body into an organic steel-like substance, becoming not only taller(7'6), but larger as well. This substance resembling steel is of unknown composition but appears to be analogous to osmium and to carbon steel; which explains why he's so damn heavy(He weighs a metric ton). He is able to transform into this armor-like state at will (the process is virtually instantaneous) and remain in that form until he decides to revert to normal. While in his armored form, he is tireless, needing no food, water, or sleep(although his mental state starts to suffer after a time) His physical attributes, strength, durability, speed, agility, etc... are all increased to monumental levels, making him the ultimate physical mutant. The sentinels make very sure his collar never malfunctions.

Non-Mutation-Related Abilities: Farmer, Painter, Martial Arts Practitioner, Good Cook

Alignment: Colossus has worked too hard and done too much in his life to simply roll over and die; especially considering he's already died once before. He will never give up on attempting to escape, however he is incredibly valuable so to the standard gaze it does indeed look like he's simply content with his lot in life.

I shall endeavour to have a similarly detailed "character sheet" up for quicksilver tomorrow.

Mathim

Awesome. I'll try to reach out to some more people to see if I can drum up more attendance, but if you've got any friends on here who you think would be interested, spread the word.

I don't know if I mentioned the division of labor, but it's basically a half dozen or so things depending on whether or not they are allowed to use their powers, or what type of power they do have.

Those with great strength and/or durability are mostly used for mining or demolition, and can typically be expected to engage in exhibition matches for the amusement of the Sentinels, while other mutants can watch and perhaps gamble on outcomes.

Those with projection-style abilities, such as Cyclops' lasers, telekinesis, or Storm's weather-control, are mostly used for energy production. Driving turbines to power the Sentinels' factories and batteries or just artificially providing electricity to their machines.

Those with tactical or skillful abilities would be used for construction of new facilities or modifying existing ones. I can't think of anyone with a specialty for this kind of thing except maybe Forge.

Anyone else, with no privilege to use their powers, would be relegated to agricultural duties, janitorial/custodial, medical and 'recreational'.

The ones who willfully oppress the others basically provide additional security for the Sentinels and surveillance. Anyone who catches a glimpse of Wolverine gets VERY highly rewarded, or so the Sentinels have 'promised'.

Birth Name / Mutant Name: Pietrok Maximoff - Quicksilver
Sex and Player's Preferred Orientation: Male, Heterosexual
Personality: Fiercely loyal to his sister, Pietro is untrusting of everyone else thanks to his father, Magneto. He's slow to form relationships and will have no problem in abandoning people if he sees a chance for him and his sister to escape. This instinct to flee has been tempered in recent years through their work with the Avengers and the rise of the Sentinels. Pietro is not uncaring, he just considers everyone else secondary to his sister and feels that it is his job to keep her safe.

Any Family/Close Relations:

Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch - Sister
Magneto - Father

History: Pietro and his twin sister, Wanda, were raised by Django and Marya Maximoff, a Roma couple. As adolescents Pietro and his sister Wanda discovered that they had peculiar talents. When Django began to steal food to feed his starving family, enraged villagers attacked the roma camp. Using his phenomenal speed, Pietro fled from the camp with his sister. Over the next few years, Wanda and Pietro wandered central Europe, living off the land. One day, Wanda accidentally caused a house to burst into flames with her uncontrollable hex powers and the pair was chased by superstitious townspeople. Despite Pietro's attempt to defend her, the twins were soon overpowered and were rescued by Magneto.

Over the years Quicksilver has been a member of a number of teams, most notably the Bortherhood of Mutants led by Mystique and the Avengers. Never truly able to settle or stay around anyone, apart from his sister, for any period of time Quicksilver has struggled to find himself a place in the world. When the sentinels attacked mutantkind his only thoughts were for his sister, focusing all his efforts to keep her safe. Using his speed and her hex powers they were able to dodge and fend off patrols. Eventually though they ran out of places to hide.

As the Sentinels closed the net they tried to fight back, using Pietro's speed to gather groups of survivors, forming a guerilla front. They knew they couldn't win but were determined not to go down without a fight. They managed to live a nomadic lifestlye for a while, hitting Sentinel outposts, factories etc where they could. it came to an end though when the sentinels sprang a trap. The group hit what they thought was another mining operation, in fact it was a ruse and sentinels pooured out. The mutants were quickly overwhelmed and subdued.

Pietro was the last to fall. His speed allowed him to evade the attentions of the Sentinels, their programming not capable of tracking his movements. had it been just him he would have been able to escape again. Unwilling to leave his sister though he stayed to fight. A fight that was ended when wanda was caught in a blast, her uncocious form tossed into the air. As he cradeled the form of his injured sister in his arms the sentinels surrounded him. He had nowhere to run.

The loss of his powers through the collars and separation from his sister have deeply affected him. Sullen and withdrawn he barely speaks to anyone, struggling to cope with moving at the same speed as the world around him. His thoughts are consumed with finding Wanda and escaping, his days filled with wandering the camp looking for her. it's a fruitless endeavour and he knows it. She's not here. She's one of the few mutants that the Sentinels would classify as extreme risk and thus would not be amongst the general populace.

Powers: Super speed - quicker reflexes, movements, thought processes the world seems as though it moves in slow motion. Recognising the immense flight risk and above average danger Quicksilver poses he is collared twice. Once is a band around his neck, standard to all mutants. The secound is a set of linked manacles on his legs. these act as both dampeners and prevent him from moving at anything faster than a walk.

Non-Mutation-Related Abilities: Wilderness survival skills.

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral. Quicklsilver will do what he thinks is best for him and his sister.

Mathim

I like that while he's as quick as he is, his weaknesses can be exploited and his breaking point can be reached so that even he can't escape a situation indefinitely. I hope we can get a Wanda for this, too.

A Wanda would be cool. In my head I'm taking him down an emotionally damaged route. I've always seen his desire to protect Wanda as a groundign for him. With his speed he could literally go anywhere and do anything, but he doesn;t because of her. without her to loo after and without his speed he has no idea who he is or what his purpose is. Add to that the emotional distress of the plight of the mutants and the life of the camps and I've seeing quite a sullen withdrawn speedster.

Mathim

I guess this was bad timing what with the Xavier Institute game already having been up for a while and not finished. Maybe we should hold off until more Marvel-type games die off before trying to get more recruits?

I think playing as the daughter of quicksilver might detract a little from my character idea. As much as I hate to say ti I would like him in a "lost everything" state. That and following along from the timeline the GM seems to be setting of a war against mutants I don't think there would have been time for quicksilver to have a daughter and then go through the phases of her backstory that result in her powers.

The other issue being that I'm assuming there will be sexual elements to the roleplay. If we get a Wanda and have the daughter of quicksilver he's going to be one very lonely man!

Ergh I feel crappy for writing that.

Doomsday

Ack.

I shouldn't be interested. Not because i'm not, but because I'm so busy and I just shouldn't... But I'm interested.

How's this for a concept: Illyana Rasputin, Magik, whose slave role is to act as Master Mold's teleporting chauffeur. I'd need help to figure out how the collar prevents her from just dumping Master Mold in Limbo forever or escaping, but it's something I've been thinking about ever since I read your pitch for this group.

Maybe the collar has a GPS installed. When she's given a location, if the appearance of her portal doesn't match the latitude and longitude, she's given a powerful shock or something.

Or there's a kill switch where if anything happens to Master Mold (who has a backup anyway, so simply destroying his form means he'll just have to wait for a new one to be constructed, thus making it futile anyway) then she also dies as do several of her close friends/relatives, so under thread, she'll be less likely to fuck with him. But Master Mold basically sees through the eyes of every Sentinel anyway and would rarely if ever need to be moved.

As for Quicksilver or any of the established characters having any children, they'd be 10 years old at most, so I don't think that would work so well.

Aww darn, thought that would be a unique role with a lot of sexy potential ::) Would Illyana still work in some capacity, and if so, any ideas? Maybe transporting other slaves to their assignments?

Sure, she would work as a character just fine, it's just that the Sentinels would be a little too wary to put their leader in any danger, so she could be used for operations that would be more involved with transporting mutants than Sentinels, just so that if anything goes wrong, they're the ones getting hurt or dying instead of any of the Sentinels. But there would still be a kill switch so that if she did anything she wasn't supposed to, she'd suffer the loss of her loved ones as penalty. The mutants with really high value to the labor force (basically almost anyone not involved in menial labor) would have one of these to ensure their compliance.

Birth Name / Mutant Name:
Remy Etienne LeBeau AKA Gambit

Sex and Player's Preferred Orientation:
Heterosexual

Personality: Gambit is cunning, smart, charismatic and manipulative. Despite all this, he seems to have a good heart deep down and even a bit of a conscience despite being a thief. Gambit can be prone to sarcastic outbursts when annoyed or stressed out, making a good quip here and there. He sometimes would rather use his mouth to solve a problem out than his fists. Flirtatious or even romantic he has quite the silver tongue.

Any Family/Close Relations:
Jean-Luc LeBeau (Adopted Father), Rogue (Girlfriend/Co-parent), Charles Xavier (Father Figure)

History:

Remy Etienne LeBeau was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was kidnapped from the hospital where he was born, then raised by the LeBeau Clan Thieves' Guild, and given to the Antiquary as a tribute. They referred to the child as "Le Diable Blanc", "the White Devil" and believed he was prophesied to unite the warring Thieves' and Assassins' Guilds. Soon after, Remy was placed in the care of Fagan's Mob, a gang of street thieves who raised the child and taught him the ways of thievery. After living as an orphan on the streets, a 10-year-old Remy attempted to pick the pocket of Jean-Luc LeBeau, then patriarch of the Thieves' Guild. Jean-Luc took the boy off the streets and adopted him into his own family. A few years would crawl by when his powers would manifest though he kept them a secret from his family, practicing away from prying eyes until he gained a sort of mastery over himself and his powers. Many misadventures and hard lessons later he would come to find himself kicked out of various groups and factions until he finally found a home with Charles Xavier and the X-men.

It was there that he would have the happiest years of his life, finding true friends and companions as well as an on again off again relationship with one of his teammates Rogue. It seemed that no matter the opponent, no matter the odds together they could always prevail if they had each other. And for a long time he was very happy. Until the day everything changed. Away on a mission he was far from home when he was informed that Xavier and the X-men were no more. The Sentinels hit hard and fast with no one group ready to actively fight them off. Banding together with a few renegade mutants Gambit was ready to fight. He was not sure who was left alive out of all his beloved comrades. He was unsure if...if Rogue made it out alive. His pain and grief fueled his rage as he helped lead small ambushes against the Sentinels but eventually one by one the group he joined fell under the sheer number of Sentinels and turn-coat mutants.

Collared and chained he was forced to use his powers to work in the mines or digging operations for the Sentinels. Being a portable, easily transported, and unlimited source of explosive power made him a useful tool for his captors to use. And he hated every second of it. The only thing that stopped him from doing something stupid was seeing Rogue in a crowd of mutants.

Deliriously happy as soon as he was shoved into the crowd he made his way towards Rogue and embraced her. Not yet aware that the collars dampened or deadened their powers he had expected to experience ultimate pain but instead only felt the warm and tight embrace of the woman who meant the world to him. It was at this time that he realized he could hold her, kiss her and hug her even. No more would they have to agonize over what would happen if they touched. However this became slightly darkened once she told him what her given job was. Try as he might there was no easy way to get over it and her job is still a source of agony for him. However their first night together to physically express to each other how they felt, (several times given all the years of pent-up sexual frustration not to mention the love between them) and the beautiful child as well as Rogue's attempts to reassure him that her heart is his just like his belongs to her. Still life caged up and in a place where you have to allow other people the honor (yes the honor) of being able to sleep with the woman you love is never going to be something he can swallow.

Always on the look out for a escape opportunity Gambit made sure to strike up a gambling relationship with various turn-coat mutants which he would occasionally whittle out information and even sometimes goods of varying degrees of value.

Powers:

Gambit is a mutant with the ability to convert the potential energy stored in an inanimate object into pure light kinetic energy, thus "charging" that item with highly explosive results. The time required to charge them is greatly reduced and they are much easier for him to throw. The only real limitation to this ability is the time required to charge the object the larger it is the more time it takes to charge. The power of his explosions is dependent on the mass of the object he is charging. For scale a charged playing card has the force and power of a grenade. Gambit's ability to tap kinetic energy also grants him incredible superhuman physical attributes (strength, speed, reflexes and reactions, agility, flexibility, dexterity, coordination, balance, and endurance), as his body constantly generates bio-kinetic energy and so is perfectly constructed for constant motion. This gives him an added edge that he has used to his advantage by developing a unique acrobatic fighting style. He also has the ability to create static, because of the charged potential energy always in his body, that shields his mind from detection and intrusion.

Non-Mutation-Related Abilities: Smooth talker (unusually strong and irresistible hypnotic charm), acrobatic, martial arts skills, lockpicking, slight of hand, skilled card player, pick pocket.

Alignment: Never one to tie himself down Gambit despises the collar limiting his abilities as well as feeling so trapped/caged within the camp he is forced to work in. He will seize the first opportunity he sees to take his freedom with his own two hands. He will NOT stay caged up. He is torn between his desire to free his family and Rogue's desire to stay as the collar allows her to hold her child without fear.

Awesome. I'll start a sheet. Out of curiosity, Illyana's powers can get kinda broken, in terms of being able to go anywhere at any point in time. Should we roll with that and say she's just forced into compliance through her collar and Piotr's, or did we wanna scale her back and say it's just space, not time?

So we're keeping the story suitably tragic and not having him ever reunite with Rogue? Too bad he can't be the one that became her baby-daddy what with their history. Unless you want to change it up to make that fit in.

I think maybe some of the latest, most advanced collars can be made to limit powers by a certain scale, so that they can put a certain level of limit on her powers rather than just completely shutting them off or turning them back on full-blast. Not every mutant gets one, but the ones with powers that are valuable but potentially too powerful to let all the way off the leash would have one. But also, yes, she'll have that threat of her loved ones being killed for her misbehavior as an additional means of keeping her under control.

Illyana v1
Okay, here it is! I can adjust the history based on your answer to my AvX question, it won't affect too much at all, I have her being extremely limited even if she has her post-AvX boost.

Basics

Birth Name / Mutant Name: Illyana Nikolovna Rasputin, aka Magik, aka the Darkchilde

Sex and Player's Preferred Orientation: Cisgender Female, Bisexual, once preferred women and might have been exclusively homosexual, but the conditions in camp have forced her to adjust

Personality: Illyana lost her innocence, in several ways, as a child; Abducted into the demon realm of Limbo and coerced into being a demon sorcerer's apprentice, Illyana was tainted with evil. Her soul was bound to the persona of the Darkchilde, and living as an abused servant for seven years did nothing to foster any good in her. She has an incredibly dark sense of morbid humor and an aloofness that makes it difficult for her to create friends and allies. Illyana constantly struggles with good and evil, though when her friends or Piotr are endangered, she is drawn towards the light, and is more prone to act on her darkest impulses when working alone. She can be impulsive and quick to act emotionally, and tends to believe that the ends justify the means, no matter how much they cost her soul.

Any Family/Close Relations: Mikhail and Piotr "Colossus" Rasputin - Older Brothers

History: Illyana was born on a collective farm in the USSR, and at a very young age was witness to her brother's mutant transformation, as he saved her from a runaway tractor. After her brother was recruited to America by Charles Xavier, Illyana was not long to follow, abducted by the villain Arcade and allowed to stay in Westchester with her brother and the X-Men after her rescue.

At the age of 7, Illyana was abducted by the demon sorcerer, Belasco, and lived seven horrible years in his apprenticeship, where her soul was corrupted, an innocent young Russian girl with pigtails irreversibly replaced with a malevolent, brooding teenager. During this time she formed a strong bond with Ororo Munroe and Kitty Pryde, or at least alternate versions of them that had been trapped in Limbo for decades at that point. Ororo taught Illyana white magic, attempting to help the young, corrupted sorceress stay her evil, while Kitty, hardened emotionally and transformed by cruel magic into a literal, feral feline creature, taught her in a more hands-on manner, giving the girl survivalism and fighting skills.  Kitty and Storm were eventually killed by Belasco, but after Illyana's mutant abilities to teleport manifested, she learned the secret to destroy him without giving into her Darkchilde persona, and became the new ruler of Limbo. At that point, she returned to Earth with seven years of scars and darkness in her soul, whereas mere seconds ago, she had been the sweetest child.

Not long after this, Xavier formed the New Mutants, and Illyana became a reluctant part of that group, along with Sunspot, Karma, Cannonball and Mirage, their numbers eventually including Magma, Warlock and Cypher. Many things happened during this time; She was separated from her best friend, Kitty Pryde, when the older girl suffered a grievous wound at the hands of the Marauders and was sent to Muir Island to recover. Worse, her brother, Piotr, was also terribly injured and paralyzed in this attack. Magneto was given stewardship of the mansion by Xavier, and Illyana was arguably the only student that appreciated his alternative attitude and methods of teaching. Literal hell encapsulated New York City, and after a battle with S'ym, a demon that attempted to overthrow her rule of Limbo, she was reverted to childhood, before she had ever become the Darkchilde. She was sickened by the Legacy virus and died. Her body and mind were eventually returned to Earth... And after many struggles, she was even reunited with her soul. An X-Men by that point, Illyana was one of five mutants bestowed with the terrible power of the Phoenix as the X-Men battled against the Avengers for the future of their people, and after their defeat, was an outlaw for some time, working alongside Cyclops and his more militant group of X-Men.

Then, Illyana and all of mutantdom were embroiled in a war with the sentinels... And they lost. Master Mold, the sentient, ambitious leader of the Sentinels exterminated a large population of the human race, but found the mutants among those numbers more suitable for manual labor, perfecting its version of paradise. Illyana was exceptionally difficult to capture, considering her abilities, though she was apprehended in the end after years of guerrilla strikes against the Sentinels. For her part in the resistance, she was tortured extensively for some time, though they did not break her will before she was released into the new mutant 'workforce'.

Illyana was quicker to adjust to this new lifestyle... It was as desperate and dangerous as her time in Limbo, but this time, she had to consider her brother's safety, so she became quite a compliant slave of Master Mold and his Sentinels, serving as a fast traveler, moving laborers between jobs sites hundreds of miles apart in mere seconds. The collar affixed to her neck was exceptionally potent at enforcing her compliance; More than thirty seconds spent in Limbo, the in-between for her portals from one place on Earth to another, and she would be killed, or at least severely hurt. If the inner chronometer detected that she was out of time, meddling with the past or future, the pain would amplify up her spine, affecting her entire nervous system until she died or returned to her present. If her latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates were not within a certain range of where she was supposed to be, as determined by her Sentinel overseers... Every meter further from her objective would be torture.

Powers:
Stepping Discs: Illyana can create circular portals that allow her to teleport herself and many others to a dimension called Limbo. Simultaneously, she can then teleport from Limbo to any point in time and space. Before her possession by the Phoenix Force, Illyana's teleporting ability was much more limited in scope; Now, she could potentially travel through centuries and lightyears with the subtlest of effort, though these limits are extremely hampered by the collar.

Non-Mutation-Related Abilities:
Sorcery: Illyana mastered the magical arts as a child trapped in the hellish dimension of Limbo. These powers are not derivative of her mutant gene and can be used even if Illyana has been somehow depowered. Her magic is a mixture of black magic, taught to her by the demon Belasco, and white magic, taught to her by the Ororo Munroe of an alternate reality that had been trapped in Limbo for years. Any magic manifested against her collar would result in a stun that would incapacitate her.
Eldritch Armor: Illyana is considered a ruler of Limbo, and has thus inherited many powers belonging to that title. One of them is her armor; When she wields her Soulsword, is attacked or manifests her magics, Illyana's body forms a mystical armor that protects her from harm.
Psionic Shields: Illyana's mind is protected by powerful psychic wards that prevent even the most powerful telepaths from accessing her.
Soulsword: Along with her ability to manifest armor, Illyana is also the possessor of the Soulsword, a manifestation of her own life energy. It is highly disruptive and lethal to magical beings, but against mundane opponents it can, at most, non-lethally incapacitate.
The Darkchilde: Illyana is a woman that struggles with a duality of light and darkness, good and evil; The Darkchilde is a demonic manifestation of her evil. The Darkchilde historically has only formed in moments of great desperation or through manipulation by others who would seek to extort the powers of Darkchilde, whose magical abilities are exponentially more powerful than Illyana herself.

Alignment: Illyana is less resistant to the Sentinel dominance over Earth and mutantdom than others, for several reasons. First, after her capture, she was extensively tortured and interrogated for the locations of her fellow renegade mutants, and though this did not shatter her mind, she knows how foolish it could be to earn the wrath of the Master Mold. Second, Illyana is tainted with evil, the Darkchilde constantly wrestling with her better angels, and does not find her present dystopia as unsettling as some; Secretly, she finds comfort in the chaos. Thirdly and lastly, she is fiercely protective of her older brother, Piotr, and is easily cowed by any threats to his safety. They have lost each other so many times throughout the years that she can find happiness knowing he's alive, even if they suffer under the worst conditions.

The collar affixed to her neck was exceptionally potent at enforcing her compliance; As soon as she portals into Limbo, she would be assaulted by intense pain and vertigo, forcing her quickly to her next destination, preventing her from harnessing Limbo for greater sorceries.

Outside of Limbo, her magical powers are limited to simple cantrips; In Limbo, she is nearly as powerful as Dr. Strange, and thus her collar limits her time in that realm and will incapacitate her if any magic is used to tamper with the device.

I simply did not want to force elven's hand and wad going to pm her if i got accepted. I left it up in the air if they ever met up again and I was going to see what she'd think or like to have happened between the two characters.

Sweet! About 1/4 done with the sheet so far. Sorry if I have any nagging questions, just wanna establish some things for her... Has Avengers vs X-Men occurred in this universe?

This should be a primarily X-Men-centric universe, kind of like how Fox's movie universe is playing it. Also I'd like to ask that Ilyana's magic be downplayed somewhat, as if what she learned is forsaking her because of what is happening to the mutant populace and maybe no longer considers her worthy of wielding it, leaving her with either very limited sorcery or none at all. If the collars can't affect it, it makes the thing pointless. They'd be more likely to keep her in a medically-induced coma or something to keep her out of trouble if that was the case.

Kitty was brought up a traditional Jewish girl and wears her star of David around her neck to remember her heritage. She is close to both her parents and  adores them both. Kitty is very politically towards the left, she is very liberal and open minded and hates intolerance of any kind. She is afraid of her abilities but is learning to embrace them. Kitty would always run into a burning building to save someone she has a need to help others no matter the risk to herself. Kitty is very flirty and fun and finds she can talk to anyone. She however can be self deprecating at times and sometimes a little too headstrong for her own good. She is not a morning person and can be grumpy until she wakes up.

Hobbies:  The Theatre, the Cinema, Ballet, Swimming, Music, Reading, making new friends.
History:
Katherine Anne "Kitty" Pryde was born in Deerfield, Illinois, to Carmen and Theresa Pryde. Of Jewish descent, her paternal grandfather, Samuel Prydeman, was held in a Nazi concentration camp during World War II. Kitty started to have headaches at age thirteen, signaling the emergence of her mutant powers. She started phaseing through her parents house and at school and become very scared indeed. She was approached by both the X-Men's Charles Xavier and the Hellfire Club's White Queen, Emma Frost, both of whom hoped to recruit her for their respective causes. Kitty was unnerved by Frost, observing that the White Queen looked at her as if she were "something good to eat." She got along better with Xavier and the three X-Men who escorted him, quickly becoming friends with Ororo Munroe. Ororo told Kitty who she really was and about the X-Men, which made the teenager even more enthusiastic about attending Xavier's school. Kitty has been enjoying getting to know her fellow students at Xaviers and has been training herself up to be a future X-man. She still goes home every other weekend to visit her parents who she is very close with.

Kitty soon became best friends with Illyanya Rasputin who has been teaching her Russian since becoming buddy's...Kitty did have a crush on Illyanyas older brother which made things awkward for awhile. Kitty first knew Illyanya as a small girl but after her experience in limbo Illyanya was aged up which kitty is still getting her head around. Kitty has become close with Storm who she sees as the big sister she never had. With Wolverine who is like a second farther to her who has also been training her up in the art of martial arts. Kitty has adapted to combat training rather well even though she is not a violent person. Kitty developed a crush on Colossus but given their age difference a romantic relationship didn't really seem appropriate. But he still holds a special place in her heart. Kitty also become close with Nightcralwer and often discussed religion with him as well as other shared loves such as pirate films.

Kitty was recently kidnapped by the Morlock Caliban and brought down to their underground lair to be his wife. Luckily the X-men were able to save Kitty before a illegal marriage ceremony was performed. Although mad at first Kitty has since started to donate her time to taking food and provisions for the Morlock community as well as trying to convince them they would be welcomed at Xaviers school for the gifted. Kitty hopes one day the Morlocks will feel they will be bale to come out into the son.

As Kitty got older she and Colossus dated but ultimately he broke her heart when he fell in love with another woman. Kitty went off to study in Europe and ended up joining the English based X-men team Excalibur along with Nightcralwer. She eventually dated Pete Wisdom (who she lost her virginity to) but he too broke her heart when he choose his secret's as a secret agent over her. Kitty re-joined the X-men along with Colossus and Nightcralwer. Not long after the war started where Kitty was completely committed to fighting for Xaviers dream.

Mutations and Powers
Classification: Beta

Type of mutant: Generation Skip (Fathers Side)

Powers:  Kitty is a mutant with the ability to pass through solid matter by passing her atomic particles through the spaces between the atoms of the object through which she is moving. In this way she and the object through which she is passing can temporarily merge without interacting, and each is unharmed when Shadowcat has finished passing through the object. This process is called "phasing" or quantum tunneling and it renders her almost completely intangible to physical touch. Shadowcat passes through objects at the same speed at which she is moving before she enters them. Since she is unable to breathe while inside an object, she can only continuously phase through solid objects (as when she travels underground) as long as she can hold her breath. However, contrary depictions of the duration of her phasing ability have been presented, such as when she has phased miles within an object. The use of her abilities also interferes with any electrical systems as she passes through by disrupting the flow of electrons from atom to atom, including the bio-electric systems of living bodies if she concentrates in the right way. This typically causes machines to malfunction or be destroyed as she phases through them, and can induce shock and unconsciousness in living beings.

Abilities: She is a talented dancer and gymnast, Kitty is good with computers and Academic, she can also speak and read Hebrew. She has also been trained by Wolverine in the art of combat, she is skilled fighting with swords and daggers.

Abilities: Kitty has been navigating herself underground as best she can. Trying to help as many defenceless mutants and save them from the ternary of the Sentinels.

No problem, I removed the bit about AvX, it didn't matter in the grand scheme of her sheet anyways, even if it's a cool story.

So it wasn't clarified in my sheet, but Illyana's magic is only powerful when she's in Limbo; When she's on Earth, she's extremely limited, basically to the level of only casting cantrips. Is this a good enough restriction of her magic? I've also added a couple safeguards to her collar; It'll KO her if any magic tampers with it, and as soon as she steps into Limbo through a stepping disc, she begins to feel amplifying pain and vertigo, which would prevent her from spending any considerable time there, and from attempting to cast any more powerful magic. I've edited the sheet above, if you'd like to check it again.

Those sound like reasonable restrictions. Also if it's still got the kill switch so that completely removing it (as opposed to just attempting to tamper with it) would cause, in her unique case, a massive explosion that would likely eliminate her, but also trigger an execution response in the collars of anyone she cares about, that would be a final safeguard they would employ on her.

Are we officially at a half-dozen then? All right, time to make the OOC thread. I'll post the link in the first post of this thread, so just look there, and I'll also PM everyone just to make sure everyone's still around and ready to go. The story will begin on the day everyone gets their communique from Professor X, the first ray of hope any of them has had in ages. How does this knowledge and potential motivation to become rebels affect their daily routine? Will they dare try to discuss the repercussions of this revelation among themselves, even though prying eyes and ears are everywhere? How will the turncoat bastards take this news? At least one of them (and NPC if necessary) will divulge this to Master Mold, thus reinvigorating the AI's ambition to find Xavier and exploit his power.

In the OOC thread, I hope I captured the best possible image of the scenario (I especially like the last sentence in it) and I really would like if everyone got a kick out of it. I also thought Non-Con is the best place for it since pretty much everything they do, including sex (even if they are consenting) is going to be in areas where privacy is not guaranteed from their fellow mutants, and most certainly not from the Sentinels' surveillance.

Okay, we're officially started up, things look to be moving smoothly, but we would certainly benefit from more players, particularly if they're of the turncoat ilk, the sellout mutants who work directly for the Sentinels in keeping the mutant population in line, capturing new ones out in the wasteland and spying on anyone suspicious to make sure no plots of rebellion get very far.

Hey there! I've got a character sheet I'd love to submit here! ANother turncoat mutant for MM

Basics

Birth Name / Mutant Name: Manuel de la Rocha/Empath

Sex and Player's Preferred Orientation: Male, straight.

Personality: Manuel is manipulative to an incredible degree. To him, the only thing that matters is how he can further his own goals. From a young age, he was told that he had the blood of royalty and should only accept the best in life; The young spaniard took the lessons to heart

Any Family/Close Relations: The son of a Spanish nobleman, Manuel is an only child.

History: From his high birth, Manuel was taught that he was better than others. He was destined for greater things, that was what his father told him time and time again. And Manuel did his best to live up to that ideal. He excelled in school, was gifted in athletics, and was popular with the students as well as the teachers. The whole time, he managed to hide his contempt for those ‘lower beings’. One day though, the perfect life fell apart in a spectacular fashion. Emotions bombarded the normally cold and distant spaniard and made feel for others in a way he never had before. It drove him insane, eventually leading him to a sanitorium.  After a month spent solitary in a padded room, a savior came to him. Emma Frost. She told him he was a mutant, that his powers made him better than others, and that she could help him.

Soon enough, he was a proud member of the Hellions of the Massachusetts Academy. The group clashed frequently with the New Mutants at Xavier’s academy, and plans started to form between Manuel and his headmistress. Xavier left the academy and left Magneto as the leader of the New Mutants, which gave Manuel the in he needed. Influencing Magneto to the point of clinical depression, the headmaster send his students over Massachusetts Academy. The New Mutants were combined with the Hellions for a brief time which caused Empath to grow closer to the one them, Magma.

Eventually Magma left her former teammates and formally joined the Hellions. For a trip, the pair went to her home of Nova Roma, a secluded city that believed they were all descendants of Roman explorers, in the  Amazon rainforest. Once there though, Manuel discovered that the history of Nova Roma was a lie. A powerful mutant had created the space and populated it with people she kidnapped and brainwashed. Years had passed since she’d seen the city though, and her grip over the brainwashed minds of the population was starting to fade. So Manuel used his own abilities to continue the deception and became a man of influence. Soon enough he controlled the city though mental and social manipulation.

Still a young man, Manuel’s total control of the settlement was cashed in for the title of Consul, a more benevolent title for a king; Amara Aquilla, fellow mutant and daughter of the previous consul, a woman that loved him regardless of his emotional influences, served at his side. Enamored with his newfound dominion, Manuel was ignorant to the war occurring in the world outside. It was only on a trip back the Massachusetts Academy and the Hellfire club that he saw what had happened and what was still to come.

Option 1: Manuel realised what was going to happen before most. Mutant kind would lose the battle and the war unless concessions were made. A deal was forged with Master Mold; Manuel would find mutants, bring them to the camps, and keep them emotionally where they needed to be so that they would not revolt. In exchange, Nova Roma would become a sanctuary or preserve of sorts, kept blissfully unaware of the dystopia outside of their walls.

Option 2: Following him back, the sentinels destroyed Nova Roma . For a few months, Manuel fought alongside the resistance, but knew that the days of fighting were numbered. Mutants who cooperated with the new order were given preference and power over the others, something Manuel deeply craved.

Powers: Manuel is able to sense and control the emotions of others: inflaming the feelings already in someone, or create new emotions that hadn’t existed in the subject before. If pushed far enough, he can even turn his victim into an emotionless zombie under his control. He prefers the more subtle approach though, making people question if they are even under his powers

Non-Mutation-Related Abilities: A ruthless nature, combined with a sharp intellect and a healthy athleticism has made him a mutant of note.

Alignment:
Manuel, despite the codename, has very little empathy for others. There is virtually nothing he would not do in order to get what he wants out of life. It was how he ended up helping the sentinels gather more mutants, knowing that it would help him survive and thrive in the new world. All that matters to him is power and how he can keep it.

Looks good. I think the Sentinels will keep him around for sniffing out potential rebel leaders, attempting to locate Wolverine, and pushing otherwise unwilling mutants into fighting in the arena if there aren't enough volunteers.

Don't ask me what I prefer, he's YOUR character, you should choose whatever you like best. Either is fine with me. It's just that if you intended for him to be a complete a-hole from start to finish, option 2 makes less sense. If you wanted to have him almost be redeemable, then option 1 makes more sense.

All right, if nobody wants Wolverine by the end of the week, I'm just going to NPC him doing some major actions, otherwise I'll give the player that chooses him a small guideline for the current moment and then allow them to do whatever they want. Also, I'll be claiming Cyclops if nobody wants that role by the end of the week, too. But Professor X is off-limits, he's strictly a GM NPC.

Personality: Strong forceful personality a touch of conceit and arrogance.  Regan knows she is good,  and does not mind using people for her benefit.   Especially when she swings towards the dark side.   An if she is playing the hero,  well the means justifies the end.

Any Family/Close Relations:  Jason Wyngarde aka Mastermind (father, deceased), Martinique Jason (half-sister- current Mastermind), Pixie (half-sister), Rogue,  Gambit, Arclight, Blockbuster, Cable, Cannonball, Chimera, Exodus, Frenzy, Harpoon, Iceman, Madelyne Pryor, Malice, Mr Sinister, Mrs. Grynn, Mystique, Random, Revanche, Riptide,  Scalphunter, Scrambler, Sebastion Shaw, Spiral, Tempo, Unuscione, Vertigo

History: Lady Mastermind was one of the few mutants to retain her powers following the events of M-Day. She later re-emerged as one of the mutants who had been experimented on by Pandemic, who was trying to discover if mutation could be "caught" like a disease. She was eventually rescued by Rogue's team of X-Men and subsequently joined them as a temporary member due to the fact that she had a useful power. The team's leader, Rogue , also stated that she was only wearing an X-Uniform because when they found her, all she had on was a sheet.

But to go back into the beginning.  Regan is one of three paternal sisters.   Regan has been and is adventurer, former terrorist, Mercenary employed by Sebastian Shaw.  Who has been in such groups such as Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, Hellfire club, Marauders,  X-Men and worked for Sebastion Shaw as a mercenary.   She is a U.S. citizen with a criminal record.

Powers: Telepathy, illusions (Regan's illusions are hypnotic based and her victims tend to accept them as fact, even if the images and scenarios that are created involve sudden changes to the world around, are inconsistent and/or improbable / they also have the power to kill.

Non-Mutation-Related Abilities:  Attractive Female, Intellect, unarmed Combat, Weapon Master

Alignment: If it suits and benefits Regan she is for it.   But rules have their place and well that just about makes her lawful evil. Or that is what she portrays as a turncoat.   Yet she her days as a terrorist are past her.   When Xavier reached out with his message.   She would disguise her elation and hope.    For she is a mole within the world of master mold.   An she will do anything to reverse what has happen and free mutant kind.  She might not be able to affect Master Mold with her illusion or the other sentinels.  But master mold has become reliant on using the mutant turncoats.  An well she can very well effect them while posing as one of them.   Imagine the tears of joy on Wade's face when she gives Deadpool back his beautiful self lol.  Everytime he looks into a mirror.    So her alignment is not so  black and white,  but she is loyal and right now that loyalty is to Xavier and the X-Men.   Perhaps it is to earn the respect from her younger half sister.

Okay, so Cyclops and Wolverine are both under my belt, so those are no longer options as characters. But there's still tons more great options. Nightcrawler, Mystique, Cannonball, pretty much anybody apart from less than a dozen that are already claimed.

Foxy DeVille

You say you wanna Wanda? How about this one...

Birth Name / Mutant Name: Wanda Maximoff / The Scarlet Witch

Sex and Player's Preferred Orientation: Female and Pansexual

Personality: Wanda's mind has retreated from much of reality. She now cares little about the world around her and is instead a hedonist who lives in the moment. Wanda has an aristocratic bearing, albeit a flighty one. Her apathy makes her a follower rather than a leader but she can also be surprisingly ruthless in a fight.
Any Family/Close Relations: Erik Lensherr (aka Magneto, father), Pietro Maximoff (aka Quicksilver, brother), Thomas and William (sons)

History: The Scarlet Witch had a long career as both a heroine and a villainess, being a member in such opposing groups as the Avengers and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. For the most part she was a kind and benevolent soul, although she did have some bouts with mental instability.

During the Sentinel attack, Wanda was knocked unconscious and separated from her brother Pietro. Because of her great and unpredictable power, she was kept in sensory deprivation. This isolation, combined with her fear over her family's fate and her history of mental illness, caused her mind to snap. Wanda became completely self-absorbed and uncaring about both humans and mutants. As the Sentinels would allow her the most comfort, she threw her lot in with them. The Scarlet Witch now does whatever Master Mold wishes in order to maintain her level of comfort.

Powers: The Scarlet Witch can warp reality, causing the the improbable to become possible. She needs to have her hands free and be able to concentrate for this potent power to work. Recently, either because of Sentinel failsafes or her mental condition, the more unlikely the event that Wanda is causing to happen the longer she has to concentrate before it occurs.

Non-Mutation-Related Abilities: Due to her Avengers train, Wanda is an excellent hand-to-hand combatant. She is a nimble dancer thanks to her gypsy upbringing and speaks several European languages. Wanda is well-versed in witchcraft. While she can't actually cast spells, she is knowledgeable about occult subjects such as demons.

Alignment: The Scarlet Witch is a willing agent of the Sentinels. Because she is incredibly powerful and quite unstable, Master Mold prefers to keep her in reserve unless other resources prove ineffective. Instead she spends most of her time in her luxurious "cell" having her whims indulged.

I think they'd regard her as too dangerous and unpredictable to ever turn off her collar. Is that going to interfere with how you want to play her, Foxy?

Well, then she wouldn't be much of an enforcer and there would be no reason to grant her any privileges, giving her no reason to want to work with the Sentinels, so yeah... that would interfere.

Mathim

Well, with her reality warping powers, she's basically just be on the 'honor system' with them trusting her not to remove the collar herself with her powers which would prevent the explosion from hurting her, so it would be a bad move on their part to take that risk with her. Like with Quicksilver, they took multiple precautions with him because of his powers' liability with the potential to circumvent the collar's kill switch.

How about this... back in the day the story was Wanda was less comfortable using her powers on unnatural targets. With her backsliding on her powers due to mental instability/Sentinel conditioning, this drawback has returned greater than before. Now she can only effect something natural (wood, air, earth, animals, people). Artificial things like the collars, cement walls, and giant mutant-hunting robots, are beyond her ability of directly effect. So she's still useful at going out and handling mutants but still vulnerable to the Sentinels and their various devices.

That's a fair restriction, then. She could be very useful to them if employed in the mines, moving rocks up and out of there and keeping clean air circulating through them so the mutant labor force down there doesn't start dying off. She'd be more useful in that capacity than as an enforcer, though if they do need help wrangling a troublesome lot, they can call her in and Ilyana can provide transport to that location immediately. Most of the other turncoats don't really have any abilities that lend themselves to being useful in anything other than a policing or psychic capacity.

Doomsday

Basics

Birth Name / Mutant Name: Raven Darkholme, aka Mystique

Sex and Player's Preferred Orientation: Genderfluid, pansexual, more often than not identifies as and takes the form of a woman

Personality: Raven has always believed in two things; The necessity of the mutant race to be liberated from human oppression, and herself. She used to be very ill-regarded as self-serving and dangerous, but many things that Mystique has done has also benefited her people, sometimes in subtle ways, sometimes in ways for which she never sought credit, as she was never a glory hog. Because of her shapeshifting abilities, she is practically ageless, and is more than 100 years old, and with that age comes wisdom, cunning, and a sense of stoicism. She has weathered so many bad, desperate times that she’s rarely ever surprised or upset by anything. Even her current incarceration, and being forced to serve as a sex slave for mutant laborers does not seem to faze her spirit, as she still yearns for freedom for mutantkind from Master Mold’s slavery, no matter how bleak things might appear. After the birth of her son Ira, she has become a fiercely protective mother bear, and would sooner die than to lose him like she lost her other children.

Any Family/Close Relations: Anna-Maria Darkholme/Rogue (foster daughter), Irene Adler/Destiny (life partner, deceased), Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler (son from Azazel), Graydon Creed (son from Sabertooth, deceased), Raven Marie (foster granddaughter), Ira Darkholme (son from Empath), Manuel de la Rocha/Empath (father of her child)

History:

Not many know where Raven Darkholme came from, or even how old she is; The most anyone has gotten out of her is that she’s at least a century old, and possibly European, though due to her shape-shifting abilities, there’s really no telling.

In the early 20th century, Raven befriend an Austrian mutant named Irene Adler, or ‘Destiny’ as she preferred. The precognitive mutant had written several books worth of prophecies that would occur during the 20th and 21st century, and decided to enlist Raven’s aid in circumventing some of the most disastrous ones, especially where it affected their fledgeling mutant race. They soon became romantically involved, and though their time together would come and pass depending on the circumstances, they remained extremely close and familiar. Eventually, they became comrades in arms for the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and then the Freedom Force, a government-sanctioned mutant team assembled to manage threats. Destiny was killed on Muir Island by Legion on one of their missions for the Freedom Force, and the death of her soulmate and best friend still haunts Raven.

During her long life, she has had many lovers, and several children, though through various twists of fate nothing ever lasted. Impersonating a West German secret, she teamed up with Victor Creed, Sabertooth, on a mission to assassinate an East German spy. Though their mission was successful, the two were forced into hiding to avoid capture, and during this brief period of closeness, they became lovers, and she became pregnant with Greydon Creed. Their relationship was unhealthy and dysfunctional, as Victor was physically abusive towards her, as he felt manipulated by her abilities and tricked into loving her. She soon faked her own death to escape him, and gave her infant son up for adoption, watching him from a distance as an anonymous sponsor, though when she learned that he was not a mutant, she abandoned him.

Later, she married a German nobleman, Baron Christian Wagner, in love with his power and affluence more than the man himself. Regretful of abandoning Greydon, she wanted another child, but the Baron was infertile; Raven became courtesan, shapeshifting into a different beautiful woman each night, seeking sexual satisfaction and to be bred. Eventually she was seduced by Azazel, an ancient mutant of demonic appearance, who used his will-bending powers to begin an affair with her. He fulfilled her desires, and made her desperately love him, to the point where she was heartbroken that he would not let her abandon the Baron and run away with him. Pregnant with Azazel’s child, the Baron became suspicious of her, and was killed for his trouble, with Mystique able to successfully frame his death as an accident. Her life as Baroness was short-lived, as her ability to control her shapeshifting was interrupted during birth. In her natural blue form, clutching a blue, demonic-looking child with a pointed devil’s tail, she was chased out of town, her son Kurt given to a gypsy woman before she faked her own death.

During her time with the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, Mystique became the guardian and mother figure of Anna Maria, a young mutant girl that had run away from her home in the Southern United States. Though unrelated by blood, she and her partner Irene, still alive at that time, gave Anna the love and care that Raven did not have the chance to give Greydon and Kurt. Even then, her life was cursed a third time, as Anna abandoned her and Irene was killed.

When Master Mold began to make his presence known in his attacks against human and mutantkind, Mystique was a member of the resistance, often posing as a mundane human and executing guerilla attacks against important Sentinel holdings. But she was identified and captured, subjugated and placed in an internment labor camp with many others of her kind. The mutant control collar on her neck is not nearly as potent as some others, as it merely restricts her from shifting out of the collar, or from obscuring or hiding it, as her collar has visible warnings that clearly mark her as a shapeshifter.

She has been in the camps for nearly three years; She was considered for more strenuous labor, as she can shift to become stronger, but the appeal of a sex slave being able to take on the shape of her suitor’s desire caused her to become a mutant concubine and breeder. During this time, she reunited with Anna Maria, the two of them close again as if they had never been separated, each of them acting as the other’s emotional rock as they shared the same reluctant role of pleasure slave.

Though she resented her role and her loss of agency, Raven had yearned for motherhood for decades at that point, and it was ironic that Master Mold was the one responsible for her newfound joy; She was impregnated and gave birth to a boy with blue eyes and blonde hair that she named Ira Darkholme, after her soulmate Irene. Not long after, she discovered the father was Manuel de la Rocha, Empath, and much like Azazel before him, Raven was unknowingly seduced by his mutant ability into loving him.

Ira was already one year old and taking his first tentative steps in a world that would one day oppress and enslave him. Raven now had a second reason to be free of this hellish life, and after Charles Xavier’s message spread throughout their camp, she became more determined than ever to undermine Master Mold and enable their escape, trusting that Anna Maria would take care of Ira in the event of her death.

Powers:
Metamorph: Mystique can psionically alter the formation of her biological cells at will. As a result, she can cause herself to look and sound like an exact duplicate of any human, humanoid, or semi-humanoid being of either sex, wearing virtually any kind of clothing. Her control is so exact that she can precisely duplicate another person's retina pattern in her own eyes, finger, palm and skin-pore patterns on her own hands and skin, smell to overlap the original being, and vocal cords to match voices to the point of corresponding voice prints.

In the event that Mystique becomes pregnant, her ability to control her shapeshifting becomes straining, and is often more comfortable remaining in her blue form during most if not the entire term. During this time, she cannot take a non-female form.

She is unable to shapeshift out of her mutant control collar, and is unable to obscure it with a new shape.

Enhanced Physical Attributes: Able to enhance her strength, speed, agility, reflexes, and senses.

Accelerated Healing: Mystique's nature allows her to repair wounds and regenerate herself from minor to near death injuries in a short span of time, much faster than an ordinary human.

Retarded Aging: Her metamorphic powers have retarded and possibly eliminated the degenerative effects of aging.

Non-Mutation-Related Abilities:
Master Combatant

Trained Actress

Expert Marksman

Multilingual: Mystique has stated that she knows at least eleven languages; besides her presumably native German and English, she has demonstrated fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, French, Farsi and Czech.

Covert Operative: Strategist in terrorist and commando operations.

Alignment: Mystique used to have the dual purpose of furthering her own goals and those of mutantkind, or at least what she perceived to be their goals. Now, desperate within the oppressive Sentinel camps, those goals are aligned, and those that know her know that Raven yearns for freedom more than anything, resentful for being caged, collared and employed as a sex slave.

Mathim

Looking for a Storm if anyone's willing to play her. She'll be one of the free mutants that hasn't been captured, and is one of Xavier's companions. She'll be leading an attack on the camp from the outside once things come to a boil. Any takers?
