NAME: Samuel Ervin
ROLE IN SCHOOL: Physics teacher
TIME OF DAY: Early evening
LOCATION: outside Basement hallway
TAGGING: Jacob Crow and Jessica Reynolds (incapacitated)

Samuel stood over Jessica as she clutched her head in pain. He knelt down, studieng her, like one would a experiment. "I would advise that you don't do that again, it seems that the link that you established between your mind and mine, is what caused your pain." He said distantly, with out emotion. She didn't seem to notice him. Samuel was intrigued, but he realized that this girl needed help, he looked over at Jacob, who looked shocked at what just happened. "Get the dean, now." He saw that Jacob still didn't move. Samuel stood up and yelled at the top of his lungs. "GO!"

Jake found himself frozen at first. Mr. Ervin's bellow snapped him out of it. He turned and ran as fast as he could. The Library. The last place he saw Mr. Shaw was in the Library.
He ran toward the Library, but it was empty. Who he did see was Miss Schmidt.
"Miss Schmidt! Miss Schmidt! Oh thank god..." :pant: "There's uh... new student..." :pant: "girl... collapsed on the stairs!"

Karen blinked, having been moving back toward the computer, her attention now being drawn toward Jake.  She listened to his words and frowned worriedly, all thoughts of her documents leaving her mind as she came to understand that was a student in apparent need of attention.  "Lead the way," she said in a quietly determined voice, following after the teen quickly.
Upon coming to the scene, she spotted Samuel crouched in front of the girl on the stairs.  She moved and looked at the student who was clutching her head.  ...A massive migraine, perhaps?  ...Or something else, maybe...one could never be certain.  But when it came to head pains, the best thing to do was deprive oxygen.  She moved and slid around Samuel, to position herself in front of the girl.  "Hey," she spoke quietly.  "It's alright...focus on the sound of my voice, okay?  I want you to hold your breath, count to fifteen, and let it all out slowly, okay?" she said softly.  She'd had a little girl last year that got sudden bad migraines, and had learned how to deal with them.  She was hoping that that was what this was...that she was treating this girl correctly.  Or that at the very least, starving her of oxygen just a little bit helped ease the pain.  She looked up at Samuel as the teen girl would do what was instructed.  "Do you know where the medical ward is?  Ibuprofen would be helpful, I think," she said, a bit uncertain.

Samuel almost laughed at Karen's question. "I'm afraid Ibuprofen isn't what this girl needs, as you can see this isn't any normal migraine." he looked back at Jessica "She seems to be in a catatonic state at the moment, though she is responsive to your voice, very interesting" his voice drifted off, his mind studying the girl, then realized what he was doing and continued. "But yes the medical ward is nearby." After that Samuel scooped the girl into his arms and head down the hallway towards the infirmary. "I suggest we move quickly, I'd like to explain exactly what just happen but we need to hurry."

TAGGING:  Jake Crow, Samuel Ervin, and Karen Schmidt

Jessica glared up at Mr. Ervin with gritted teeth at first. She hated the way he was looking at her but she couldn't focus enough to do anything other than look back at him, his words drowned out by the mess floating around inside her head. Reaching out and touching someone else's mind was never a simple thing but she had learned to deal with it- to separate her thoughts from those of the others. It was a bit unsettling having the voice of another person popping into her mind on occasion but she's dealt with it enough up to this point to eventually block out the weaker memories. This was something different though. His voice rambled on constantly in her head, half formed thoughts flowing into each other and overlapping as his voice spoke with such speed that it all just became an unintelligible jumbled mess.

"Shut up. Shut up. Shut up!" Her hand searched for a place against the wall as she tried to walk away even though she was struggling to hold herself upright. Her mind was doing as it had always done- treating her acquired memories just like her own and filing them away but the sheer volume of incomprehensible thoughts made her head spin as her mind tried desperately to find a place to put it all. It wasn't long before her mind figuratively threw it's hands into the air in defeat; the girl passing out onto the floor and floating between the realm of consciousness and unconsciousness. She barely even registered the woman that spoke to her or the sensation of movement as Mr. Ervin carried her down the hall.

Karen tensed as the girl tried to move away on her own, frowning at Samuel's statement.  Well, if he knew what she needed, then why in the hell had he sent for help?  She blinked, jumping in surprise as the girl slumped, seemingly unconscious, and frowned worriedly, brushing back her hair gently.  And then Samuel had lifted the girl from the floor and was carrying her away.  She stared, mouth agape for a moment, before she stood, moving to follow.  After a few steps, however, she remembered Jake and halted, turning.  "Thank you, Jake, dear.  But don't concern yourself, alright?  We'll see to it that the young lady is taken care of.  Go on to your room, okay?  Try to relax...it is the first day of classes tomorrow, after all," she spoke.  Watching him go for a second, she then turned and quickly was on Samuel's heels, watching the girl with concern as they made their way to the infirmary.

Samuel carried Jessica towards the infirmary without another word, if anyone was trying to speak to him he wouldn't notice. His mind was racing as fast as it could, creating, seeing, and analyzing every factor with the situation. He knew about Jessica's ability, but nothing in her record showed that she could here peoples thoughts. What else was she hiding? Obviously her talent was more than meets the eye. He sighed loudly,he may not be able to find out, considering the girls condition. He was so lost in thought he nearly ran into the infirmaries locked door.

The library had cleared out fast and just as fast there was a situation outside. He watched as a young woman was carried down the hall to the doctors office and that made Shaw smile since his students were in good hands. Slowly he walked down the hall after the boy Jake Crow. Coming to the boy he raised his hand. "Mr. Crow, come with me please!" He called out as he drew closer to him. He knew what had happened since he had direct access to his cameras on his phone. Walking to stand beside Jake he showed the boy the video of the library and of him then moving to the basement before being cut off by Samuel. "Now...can you understand why I am a bit upset? It has sound and I have been watching you students all day. I do not tolerate troublemakers here. There are other schools for you if you wish to continue this behavior. While I am a kind man I have no problem enforcing punishment on you for doing something you shouldn't. If I deem you worthy and see a change in attitude then you will be invited to the basement. Do I make myself clear? If I have any more problems from you, Mr. Crow you will regret it." Balling up a fist he slammed it into the wall next to Jakes head and placed a massive hole in it without so much as flinching. "Im glad we could have this talk. I expect you in your dorm studying the book you elected to get a jump start on. If you are that interested in it, you should have an A in your class all year." Pulling his fist out of the wall and brushing it clean of stone that was embedded in his hand he took a deep breath and headed to the front office again.

TAGGING: Being escorted by two officers to make sure she does not run.

She walked into the school looking around with her two babysitters as she called them following up behind her closely. She walked ahead of them her head down her hood up and she was wearing a pair of baggy camo pants and a black hoodie. She had her hair tied back into a braid and down her back. anyone looking at her would assume she was a boy as the baggy clothes hid any sign she was a female. She walked up to the office the officers looking nervously at her like she would turn around and slash their throats or something. Stupid fucks...what was she gonna do? Code them to death? slash them with her rapier wit? She moved and sat down in the waiting area of the office so her babysitters could find someone to hand her over to. She glares at one of them who backed away from her and she suddenly sat forward"Boo!"The officer whimpered and actually was about to draw his weapon now his hand shaking and reaching for it.

TIME OF DAY:  Early evening
LOCATION:  Infirmary
TAGGING:  Samuel Ervin, and Jessica Reynolds

As Samuel stopped short of the Infirmary doors, Karen nearly ran into his back.  Blushing, she backed up a step and stared, then moved around him, pushing on the doors.  They rattled but didn't budge open.  "Oh," she said, flushing once more in embarrassment about her blatant stupidity.  Biting her lower lip, she remembered receiving a set of keys, that she had been keeping on her for an emergency.  Fishing them out from her back pocket, she started to search through them.  They were, blissfully, engraved with letters, detailing what each key was for.  Finding the one for the infirmary after a long moment of flipping hurriedly, she quickly inserted the key and unlocked the doors, pushing them open for Samuel to carry the girl in.  She flipped on only one set of lights, dimly lighting the room for the sake of the girl's poor head, and moved, watching Samuel.  But now she was lost as to what to do exactly.  ...She looked around, biting her lower lip.  How did they help the poor teenager?

Samuel waited impatiently while Karen flipped through her keys. Finally she opened the door to the infirmary. He walked in and set the girl down on the nearest patient bed, then took a look around the room. On one side of the room sat several chairs, a bookshelf on various medical practices, medicines, and mutations. He quickly walked over too the shelf. He searched for a few seconds until he found the book he wanted. "mental overload, and telepaths." He opened the book, and read through it. For every ten seconds he read five pages. Within a minute he was done and knew exactly what to do.
He looked at Karen then pointed the nearby refrigerator storing various drugs and other medical devices or applications. " Karen, grab an IV bag and fill it with a 0.9% sodium chloride solution, we need to keep her hydrated." he said mechanically, as if unaware of what he was saying. He then walked out the door. "I'll be right back" he shouted out before turning the corner.

Watching Samuel curiously, Karen finally began to understand that, whatever 'talent' he possessed, it obviously made him highly intelligent.  Perhaps that was why he seemed so cold at times....  She was quiet as he read, allowing him to assimilate information.  When he closed the book, she watched as he pointed and gave the order.  And then he was gone out the door.  "...Point nine of what now?" she murmured, shuffling nervously to the refrigerator.  She opened it and stared.  He'd said...sodium...something.  She licked her lips and looked through the refrigerator.  And pulled out a bag labeled sodium chloride.  Okay, that sounded right.  But she was supposed to dilute this stuff, right?  To a...point nine solution.  Whimpering, she stared.  How did she do that?  And did he actually expect her to start an IV??  "Oh, gawd," she muttered, looking around.  "...Someone...help," she whispered to the room.  She had a feeling he'd be very cross if he returned and she was just standing there, holding this...but she didn't know what else to do.

Samuel swore to himself, he was lost, again. He never got lost, he was always knew where he was at all times. But now it seemed that he couldn't keep his sense of direction. He look around the dimly lit hallway, empty, as to be expected at this hour. As much as he hated to admit, the telepathic link with the girl had rattled him as much as her, the only reason he hadn't collapsed was because his mind was used to such mental strain, and had easily coped. In fact he was so rattled, all he could think of was the girl. He wasn't concerned with her well being, as much as her ability. For some strange reason it consumed every thought, every fiber of his mind. He shook his head to clear it. Now where in the hell was shaw!

TIME OF DAY: Evening
LOCATION: Hallways, Infirmary
TAGGING: Aaron Shaw, Karen Schmidt

Jake was walking back to his room like a zombie, astounded by what had just happened. “Why did that girl do that…? What did she do?!?” he thought. Part of it was that he didn’t really know what had just happened.
Then he was stopped by, “Mr. Shaw!” He followed Shaw at his order, and was about to explain what had happened, but Shaw showed him what happened on his phone before he could speak. So Shaw already knew what happened…
But then Shaw started talking as though Jake was the instigator in going to the basement. At first, Jake thought Shaw was in on it, realized that Jake was trying to cover for the girl, and take out the punishment on Jake instead. But then Shaw started getting really angry. Jake was starting to get confuse—CRAK!
Did that just happen!?! Did Mr. Shaw actually just put his fist through the wall?!?
Jake was actually almost caught off-guard by this, but he was more shocked that Shaw would do such a thing rather than the fist nearly missing his face. Jake just stood there for a moment with his mouth agape.
Then, after a beat, Jake closed his mouth, inhaled deeply, and calmly stated, “I understand, Mr. Shaw. I apologize. And it won’t happen again.”
Jake got outta there as quickly as he possibly could, and headed back to the infirmary.

Walking in, he overheard Ervin barking orders to someone, then saw him leave. He looked distracted, and didn’t seem to notice Jake standing in the wings. Jake entered the infirmary and saw Miss Schmidt franticly moving about, looking very confused. “I can administer the IV if you’d like, Miss Schmidt…” Jake offered, morosely.

Karen jumped and the bag slipped from her hands.  She fumbled for a moment before catching it and turned, looking at Jake.  When had he gotten there?  She licked her lips and looked down at the bag, then back up at him.  "Are...are you sure you know how to do so properly?" she asked quietly, worry in her voice as her eyes went to the girl.  She didn't want something to go wrong and for it to make the poor dear worse.  She looked back at Jake.  "...Mr. Ervin said to use a .9% solution..." she informed him, slowly holding the bag to Jake, hoping he was indeed skilled enough to be doing this.  Because she certainly wasn't.

He approached her slowly and took the bag from her. “Sorry if I startled you.”

Looking at the way Jake held out his hand to calm her, Karen flushed a deep crimson hue.  She was supposed to be confident around her students, darn it!  She hated when they saw this side of her.  "It's alright," she said quietly, after hearing his credentials toward administering the medicine.  She watched him take the bag and moved, trying to stay out of the way, but curious as well as she watched how he prepared and went about starting the drip.  When it was set up and the bag was hung, she watched the drip of the liquid for a long moment before turning to Jake.  "So, what has you upset?" she asked quietly.  She would've had to been completely inept not to have noticed the teen was distraught over something.  Perhaps it was just one of those teenage mood swings, but...she was more than willing to listen to whatever his problems were.  That was pretty much part of her job description.  Not as a teacher, but as a fellow human being.

Jake couldn’t help but notice the way Miss Schmidt flushed after she jumped. Yeah…she was flustered, though it didn’t really faze him to see her like that. It was understandable after what had transpired.
After setting up the IV, Jake observed the patient for a moment. She appeared okay, but he still didn’t really have any idea what had transpired. He wished that among his Mutant abilities, he at least had an ability that could help her in some way… His instinct from training was to check her for bruising or abrasions, but she was still fully-clothed, and he didn’t think it would go over well for him to be examining her.
Miss Schmidt’s query snapped him out of his haze. `Guess amidst everything that had happened that day, he was way out of synch at this point, and it was showing…
His mouth dropped open a bit, “Uhhh… Sorry. How do you mean…?” He instinctively pretended to not know what she was referring to as a pathetic attempt at a stall-tactic.

Lips pressing into a thin line for a moment as she watched Jake pretend nothing was wrong, Karen gave a slight frown, but moved and softly mussed his hair; a habit from working with grade school children.  "If you don't wish to speak about it, I won't make you," she said quietly, keeping her voice down so their patient could rest.  She pulled her hand away and let it fall to her side, eyes moving back to the teenage girl.  She watched for a long moment, before looking back at Jake.  "Thank you very much for your help, dear," she said softly, her stormy eyes watching him.  She wanted to dismiss him, so he could go and relax before it was time for bed...but she hadn't a clue when Samuel would run back by and spit another order she couldn't follow at her.  She may yet need the teen.

A slight look of shock wiped across Jakes face as Miss Schmidt tousled his hair. His eyes closed as she did so, and he immediately felt the `little black fire’ inside of him quell significantly. It was amazing. That small gesture managed to single-handedly relax him far more than any of his other efforts that day. He drew a deep breath, and was a little embarrassed when it came out a shaky sigh. When she pulled her hand away, he just stood there for a moment with his lips apart.
He couldn’t help but feel he owed her at least some explanation, so he just looked down and started talking, “No, it’s just…” Not knowing what he was going to say, he just shook his head and vaguely said, “This is just kind of crazy. I really was just trying to cover for her…” almost rhetorically.

Stormy gray hues came back to Jake as he spoke and she watched the teen.  She gave a soft smile at his statement before nodding slowly.  "It's natural," she said, her eyes moving back to the girl on the bed.  "To want to stick up for a peer.  To protect them," she said, giving a rueful little smile before her gaze came back to Jake, playful.  "Especially a pretty one," she teased softly.  Giving a light laugh, she moved to sit down.  There really wasn't anything else she knew to do, until Samuel came back.

Voices. Someone was talking but Jessica was unsure whether or not it was real. The voices of those she's interacted with tended to float around in her head when she slept like this. Wait...sleep? She couldn't remember going to sleep. In fact, the last thing she could remember was that guy in the hallway...

Jessica quickly shot up from the bed as if awaking from a nightmare. Her eyes frantically looked about the room as she took in short, ragged breaths. She noticed the two others in the room with her but that wasn't what caught her attention. The IV in her arm made her gasp and her eyes went wide, her bottom lip quivering slightly in fear. The girl recoils away from the other two people in the room defensively. "What the hell did you do to me?!"

Karen couldn't help but let out a small giggle in response to Jake's 'messed up' comment.  She soon quieted, though, leaving the room in peace.  Until, that was, the girl sat up in such a panic, Karen feared she would run from the room.  "Easy.  Easy, sweetheart," she said, standing back up, her hands extended in a placating gesture.  At the question, her eyes went to the IV and then back up to the young teen girl's face.  "It's alright.  Mr. Ervin said it was to keep you hydrated.  That's all.  He'll be back soon, just take it easy," she soothed, keeping her distance as she watched the other female.  "I'm Miss Schmidt," she introduced.  "I'm the school's English teacher.  It's going to be alright, okay?  You...you were clutching your head.  I think you did something to it, but just relax.  We're going to take care of you, okay?" she spoke soothingly.

Jake and Miss Schmidt sat in silence for a bit. Jake comtemplated it, then decided to say, "I have to get an `A' in your class..." Just then, the girl shot bolt-upright in the bed. His eyes went wide and he immediately stood up.
Miss Schmidt attempted to sooth the girl, which was good. Noting that the girl seemed most concerned with the IV in her arm, Jake added, "Yeah, we can even take it out if you think you could drink some water for us, but at this point it might be easiest just to leave it in if you think you'll be okay with that..."
