Looking for actual poetess

Captain Maltese

It's 4am, and probably not the best time to post a story request, but after parrying with Cutter I suddenly know what I need: a thread written entirely in verse. You heard me. Four line stanzas that actually rhyme; one post, one stanza.

I am looking for a female writer who will enjoy sharing the challenge with me; I aim for an erotic, romantic and dramatic saga, not of Gilgamesh or Rime of The Ancient Mariner dimensions but a worthwhile effort beyond mere bawdy limericks. It's not Poetry 201; if there are minor discrepancies or the odd awkward choice of adjective we'll survive.

I'm not suggesting the actual story setting before I've seen the onoffs of the chosen cowriter; I consider myself lucky if anyone volunteer at all. This thread will be Tricky.

Her eyes blinked at your strange request
Made at four in the morning, nonetheless!
Your partner though she could not be
Despite her love for poetry

*giggles as she leaves* It would be tough, good luck dear Cpt  ;)

I have never heard of a game like that before. Good luck with it, sounds interesting.

It struck me when I woke up again that I probably should show off some of my own poetry first   ;)

The following are bits and pieces I wrote a decade ago. Guys, do you have any idea how embarassing it is to read through a ten year old potry collection? Clumsy? Yes. Some of it written with people in my thoughts? Yes. Angsty? Oh, but YES. I picked these because they are in the style I had in mind; four line stanzas, every fourth and second line at least attempting to rhyme. I'll go along with six lines too if that's better; as long as we can agree on a structure I'll be happy.
...the last poem is there only because I'm proud of it, ok?

SLEEP
Another day, another evening
another night of restless sleep
Exchange the toil for haunted dreams
switch the worries with wanderings deep

Tired am I when day is ending
Tired am I when day is new
When nighttime comes I must surrender
allow my mind its appointed path

Where do I go when night is calling
that makes me want to do without rest
My flesh goes on from day to day
but where and when will my soul find rest

ROSE IN MY GARDEN
A rose is growing in my garden
innocence stretching toward the sky
sweet and fragrant, moist and cheery
seemingly living just for joy

Beautiful is it, but very fragile
crushed would be by a careless foot
unguarded, untended would sadly wither
and severed lie in my garden, crumpled

But this will not happen, o sapling mine
your sweetness to me much better than wine
My hands will guide, my water trickle
my garden will be your guiding line

You are the rose, in my garden planted
growing for me to be pleasant and coy
Here you are safe in the green and the lush
Providing me with beauty and joy

SHADE OF A BEAUTY
Slowly we walk
through the dream-weaver's forest
bare feet in clouded grass
heading to the meadow for rest

You must be right behind me
I feel your shadow touching mine
this day we walk upen acres
of brimming clouds with silver line

Your breath is golden your voice is silver
my head is light with your fragrance
Your touch is like to a rose's petal
I'm slowly falling into trance

We'll reach the meadow in a short walk
there I'll finally taste your beauty
compare it like a connosieur
and find where other roses fail their duty

Sometimes
Sometimes you are the
scared young virgin
caught by the fearful villagers
led to the shaded valley
tied to the stake
left alone to await
the dragon’s scything claws

Sometimes you are the
tough wench from the inn
arrested for your rude manners
led to the shaded valley
tied to the stake
left alone to await
the dragon’s hungry fangs

Sometimes you are the
highborn lady from the castle
betrayed by the vengeful
led to the shaded valley
tied to the stake
left alone to await
the dragon’s awful lust

Sometimes I am
the quickfooted thief
who has desired you long
who sneaks into the valley
untie your knots
carries you away
hoping to be rewarded

Sometimes I am
the mounted knight
compelled by honor to save you
who slay the dragon
cuts down the stake
put you in my saddle
and leave the field as master

And sometimes, yes
I am the dragon
accepting your sacrifice
scaring you and loving you
lets you shiver in the ropes
consume you in flames
and take you as mine forever

Very impressive Cpt.

The last one should be E's very own mantra on the front page!!

Is rhyme the only way to go?
For better lines need not rhyme to flow
Take your challenge I will with glad heart
If you could only see past the rhyming part

And so you dont feel so alone on that poetry digging trip...one of my own from a few years back.

A Waking Evening Dream

In the stillness of the evening,
you cross my mind
The flash of your eyes,
the low rumbling of your voice
It stirs within me a longing

The nonchalant way you say hello
Makes me wonder what you’re thinking
The devious smiles that crosses your lips
Gives me my answer
And the longing continues

How much time till I touch your face
How many minutes till feel your breath
On my skin

And do you long for me?
As I long for you
The flash of my eyes,
the breath caught in my throat
The passion swirling in my soul.

Tiobal

Lust is but a fleeting wisp
    Its memory is soon eclipsed
With fullness of a heart’s desire
Which forever sets the loins afire

As the ebb and flow round them break
Two lovers hand in hand did make
A pledge of souls entwined and bound
    Nevermore to be unwound

Yet does a jaded eye soon tarry
Upon a winsome lass and merry
Brings back lust into the fray
As hand and loin again do stray
She is free to be who she will; free to skip barefoot down the hill; maybe she is Neptunes daughter, for she is drawn towards the water.

Less vital than the need for poetical forms
is the obvious pleasure of my cowriter's charms
I gladly accept your offered pen
surely together we'll accomplish zen

You are so on, Dabria ;D PM coming.

Love and hate
in embrace sweet
she's lying there
upon my sheet
her eyes so cold
despite her heat
I ought to go
but have such need

This night should end
in swift retreat
My rightful place
is not in here
another's claim
has right of way
If only I
could go away

You are definitely on, Tiobal ;D PM coming.
