My word pad documents will NOT open unless I right click them and my Open Office will not open at all. I highly suspect the Open Office version 4 is the reason why its not working right so I"m going to remove it and see if that helps.

I need a word processor type program hence the reason why I got Open Office but its not cutting it and doesn't work half the time and there's no way I'm spending 100+ for Microsoft Word Processor and get a bunch of extra stuff I really don't need

Any one know a good non buggy writing program\word processor

I have google docs but i need something I can always access offline. If my browser is closed then I can't get to google docs even if I have it synced offline.

I have Kingsoft on my tablet, but I can't say how the desktop/Windows version would work. Jarte seems the most popular among reviewers.

LibreOffice?

Also, do you know how to set your default program for opening files?

+1 LibreOffice since I'd recommend it or Open Office and you're having issues with OO.

Also, if files aren't opening with left clicks, you probably need to set your default program, like Veks mentioned. Doing this depends on your OS, but usually if your on windows and you right click then -> open with, you can check "use this program from now on" or something similar.

LibreOffice +2

It's a good program we're always recommending for families at work who don't want to purchase Microsoft Office.

I"ve seen LibreOffice but there's nothing on their site that tells me what features it has or what it can do or anything and I don't like down loading anything unless i know what it can do

I can't stand Open Office
