Does anyone else create stories / storylines and characters based off of single songs?

Eddie Vedder's cover of Hard Sun, for example, inspired me to create about six different storylines in different settings, styles, and themes.

Music is definitely an inspiration, although not such a concrete one for myself. It does influence what I put on my playlist when I write, though. There are stories of mine written on Blind Guardian, Sarah Brightman, and the Top Gun soundtrack. Not all of those together, obviously.

That would make for an interesting mashup. ;)

I find music really evocative; every song tells a story, and I tend to dream up characters and plots quickly.

Interpol - C'mere is another example for me.
