Me and my friend believe it'll be a straight rerelease (likely thanks to Shadow War doing better than they thought and inundated with letters saying 'I wanna play gangs!'), however it'll probably be a Forge World supported thing, having the basic game sold in Geedub stores, though the gang boxsets will probably be limited time releases, exactly like how Geedubs and FW is handling Blood Bowl right now.

I'm down for playing some House Delaque though!  ;D

TheLaughingOne

From what ive read they are rebuilding it with 8th edition rules in mind, and models are going to be plastic parts, thst way people can customize their models more.

They are evidently using some of the stuff from the living rulebook and comunity codex fans put out upgrading/updating the game.

No word on the scale, though moat people doubt its going to match standard so you cant mix and match.

Yeah, a different scale so you'd have to get the models again makes sense. They did that with Blood Bowl, making the board, squares and bases bigger.

8e Necromunda would be pretty interesting. As fun as Shadow War is on paper, it's a bit of a broken mess so putting some fixes into Necromunda would be welcomed by me.

TheLaughingOne

So. 40k but not tabletop related.

Just got a 50 percent off coupon on steam for dawn of war 3.. i got no real interest in it... but anybody here..?

Check your steam account, I just got a 50% voucher for DoW myself. I've seen more than a few people in various 40k facebook groups saying they got them as well. My guess would be if its on your watch list and you haven't purchased it they might be sending these out.

Edit - And if you're missing any of the earlier titles

Looks like I got a coupon too, so yeah. It's probably tied to if you own previous copies of the franchise, since DoW3 isn't on my wishlist either.

I was reading up on Necromunda. Looks to be a FW specialist game for sure (though the basic box may be available in GW stores like Blood Bowl) and it also seems to be taking a page from Infinity.

Necromunda is supposed to use Action Points to activate models (with some like the Heavy needing two points to activate beforehand), they compare it to Space Hulk, though Infinity also uses an Order mechanic for activating it's models.

The thing that really made me think of the comparison though was the new rules apparently do away with traditional 'I go, you go' turn order. Infinity does reactive skills, so for example in the active player's turn if they move into Line of Fire of an enemy model, that enemy (the reactive player) can right away call in a reactive skill roll, which is often a shooting attack. It's like being in 40k terms 'always on overwatch'. I think Necromunda is going to be doing the same thing.

Both are also skirmishy level games, I'd compare Infinity more to Kill Team as you can take larger groups (like 30 doods if you wanted), though I'll be interested to hear more news coming in for Necromunda.

It also looks like it'll be coming out around November/December for the 'before Christmas' slot.

Info starts around 30.45 in that video for those interested. ^^;;

Well, I'm pretty anticapitory over what they'll release. So it seems we got a brand new system, a d6 dicepool system with similarities to TORG, then there'll be 'Trilogy' campaigns out, detailing adventures, fluff for the campaign, then extra player options.

It seems like it should be less crunchy than the old system, though still taking the good bits from the old lines (critical tables). The announcement of a Quickstart Box next year makes me think it should be pretty easy to get new people involved. One issue of the old 40k system was trying to get new people involved, it was too crunchy, long and complex for those not used to systems. Having something more in line with world of darkness or The Void rpg should help a lil bit.
It'd admittedly help more if they made the quickstart stuff as a pay what you want pdf, though we'll see what happens come next year.

The thing that super appealed to me is the announcement of the 'Doom of the Eldar' campaign. I am far more interested in playing a Drukhari and seeing Commoragh or dealing with the Ynarri than another campaign dealing with the Imperial side of things.

Still, the initial Imperial Nihilus set campaign could be pretty damn cool, with hints of Primarchs and a hint at being able to maybe even fight a Demon Primarch, that's pretty cool.

HairyHeretic

Black Crusade in Imperium Nihilius would be fun :)

And anyone who takes on a Daemon Primarch needs to die, immediately. Seriously. These guys should be able to rip through armies. And if you do somehow manage to kill them, they'll be back again from the Eye in a century or so.

I could see Morty turning up as a final boss that the party needs to survive a certain amount of time against before they can be evac'd. Though seeing as it's Imperium Nihilus in the first campaign, Morty has previously been down near Ultramar in the Scourge Stars, so it probably won't be him turning up rather someone else.

You're right though, Black Crusade in the Imperium Nihilus would be pretty awesome.  ;D Baal is over there, so scrapping against Blood Angels would be pretty darn cool.  :-)

So... you ever have those moments when you realize something might be wrong with your head?

Mine was today as im taking the bus to work and fiddling with potential shadow war armies and this popped into my head...

Juggalo Harlequinn.

That is all.

'Anatomically correct' Slaaneshi vehicles.

Models I saw converted up and posted online years ago. There was a basilisk and a rhino. With piercings.

I'm sure your imagination can fill in the details.

I haven't been here in quite awhile. Seems like I missed out on some news.

AndI never really thought of anything messed up for 40K, but I always loved the idea of Santa Grimnar.

I'm pretty hype for Wrath and Glory. At this point in time, it looks pretty user friendly and easily accessible, especially since most people who are familiar with 40K table-top probably have loads of d6s to start.

I find it really interesting that you can play as both Imperials and Xenos. It looks like they're mashing some of the previous RPGs together in terms of setting and what you can play as (i.e Guardsmen in Only War, Space Marines in Deathwatch, etc.), but now you could do an all Xenos party without homebrewing stuff. Very nice compared to having 5 different RPGs with their own assorted splatbooks. They didn't mention Chaos, however, so I really do hope they have that option.

On that note, Black Crusade in Imperium Nihilius sounds like a blast, especially since Chaos is constantly on the offensive and is really gaining ground or outright winning on some fronts. I might try to wing stats for Primaris Marines at some point without trying to make them OP, but that's never a guarantee.
The difference between gods and demons largely depends on perspective.

Check out my O/Os!

September 16th is when the Death Guard Codex comes out, so it'll be missing the Konor Campaign. I'd have figured Mortarion turning up in Week 6 would have been a major pull, ah well.

I'll for sure be looking at what deals geedubs will be doing as the DG are my current army. I can see me for sure grabbing the new Typhus and there are DG dice coming out on the same day too.

There is 33 datafiles all told, including new characters and the stuff already seen, such as Mortarion, the Death Shroud, Grave Guard and the new Plaguecrawler tank. However some Nurgle Daemons may be included in that total too. Also some Bloat-Drones have been spotted with different weapons than their usual armament. For sure some regular CSM stuff is likely in that too, like the Helbrute and Rhino for example, same as the Index had for them.

I'm still hoping for some Pestigor Beastmen myself. ^^

Darkcide

I love 40K, got a bunch of friends that play the tabletop. I cannot get over the cost though. Granted I like the Fantasy setting even more, not Age of Sigmar though lol.

HairyHeretic

It's not a cheap hobby, but the starter sets are generally a good buy in.

If you want something cheaper, look at Shadow Wars Armageddon. It's the 40k armies, but you only need a squad or two to play with.

Shadow war is a good jump point as can usually do with a single box to build your force, maybe a second later on.

I actually have several armies now..

Tyranid (The Beast)
Space Marine Scouts (Scions of Helios)
Inquisition (Ebon Hand)
and Necron (Choir Of Nyarlathotep)

Most expensive were the tyranid which.. wasnt cause for some reason despite being over a month ago the game store i bought them from hasnt charged me for them... but 50 bucks for 3 models, (but dear god you will chew things up in combat..)

Inquisition i pieced together from imperial guard (scions tempest), some light troopers from another system, space marine bits (mostly weapons and couple arms) and my inquisitor sports a set of Mk III power armor plus helmet from the other set.

One thing i suggest is watching some tutorials on placing magnets in your guys, makes it easy to add/remove parts pretty well for upgrades. I have mine setup so i can switch out arms, add backpacks, a weapons slot for said back pack (like say, a rifle or chain sword slung on it) and so forth. little 1mm to 2mm magnets are cheap, but stil decently powerful enough to hold together (just make sure you mark which side is which..). Gives you a TON of adaptability for your troops and leaves you fewer loose useless bits. Downside is it takes ALOT more extra work and good bit of precision to make sure everything lines up just right.

In friendly games, most people are okay with proxying, which will let you try stuff out and see how you find it before you go buying it. Tournaments you tend to need what you're fielding.
