[.Introduction.]

Magic.

There had been a time, long forgotten, when the realm of magic had existed alongside that of humankind. A time that now is only known as fairy tales and folklore, a history that has been passed down over the ages and now degenerated to merely stories to be told.

Yet every story has a grain of truth behind it, one only needs to sift through the exaggerated fancies that each generation had added on and find that one tiny kernel...

There was a time, when humans had wielded the gift of magic as well. When the existence of fantastical creatures had been a fact and not a myth. But now, this is a world that can only be accessed via reading fantasy novels and the like. A message of the past, portrayed as nothing more than a mere figment of a nameless writer's imagination.

Have you ever wondered why so many of these stories are so different, each and every one unique, and yet so similar at the same time? Because they are derived from truth, a truth so deeply ingrained in the human mind that it is seen as nothing more than impossible feats. These memories are so faint that they are no longer recognized as actual memories.

And it is here that we begin...

In the present day, humans have founded the convenience of technology. Inquiring minds and curious persons are starting to drastically fade as the population is now riveted to television and its mind numbing shows. Those with vivid and wild imaginations are practically rare commodities. It can easily be said that people have been 'programmed' to act and behave a certain way. To think and believe specific things.

Magic is not one of them.

Unbeknownst to humankind, magic had never left their side. Although most of the denizens of fantasy had long removed themselves from the ignorant grasp of humans, the Fair Folk had always been the most inquisitive, the most similar, and the most mischievous. Dwelling in Arcadia, certain portals connect them to the world as we know it and certain lands holding ley lines and pools of magic are irrevocably shared between the two worlds. Mysteries that could never be explained, missing people that were never found...how much of it was due to some sort of magical occurrence? How much of it had been plotted by a faerie seeking thrills?

As belief in magic dwindles to near nothing, and these sacred lands holding ancient secrets are greedily destroyed due to favorable business prospects by large corporations, Arcadia's source of life -- magic -- has begun dwindling to the point of serious concern.

Now, old tales have become keys to changing the future of the faeries and individuals holding dormant abilities must be sought out.

...Are you the one that I've been searching for?...

[.Further.History.]

With time, age, and wisdom...power is gained...

Within the ranks of the Fair Folk, there were five great entities who were the oldest as well as the most powerful. Out of these five, one was overcome with greed...a greed for never-ending power, he became a glutton for his source of life and stopped at nothing to obtain it. As he grew in power, eventually becoming a threat to the rest of Arcadia, the other Four banded together and finally sealed him away -- finally managing to lock him in a pocket realm of his own.

This had occurred centuries ago, during the time when a select few humans were still fully aware of the alternate world that ran parallel to their own. Having sealed the nuisance away, the key to undoing the spell was split into fourths and trusted to four humans with a clear Sight [ability to see those of the magical realm].

To protect the precious keys, each of the four humans had received a gift from each of the Four faeries. A unique weapon/ability along with a symbol that marked their task...

After so much time has passed, the keys, as well as those possessing the gifted weapons/abilities from the faeries, have been long forgotten. The old tale had become just that. A tale and nothing more. The items themselves, utterly forgotten, and abilities lie dormant.

With Arcadia quickly fading along with magic, it has come to the Four's attention that the fifth was actually the one manipulating the humans. Encouraging their destruction and spiral into darkness as he nestles safely away in his own little dimension, safe due to his own malignant nature having twisted his world so that instead of losing magic from the human world's decadence, he is in turn fueled by their wrongdoings.

Now, the Four have sent their most trusted faeries to go in search of the humans bearing the symbol that mark their fate. Alternately the fifth has sent his own minions in search of his keys, for locked in his space and yet continually growing in power, he is unable to exercise the immense magics he has gathered until the seal itself is broken...

Imagine the surprise to both sides of the spectrum when it becomes clear that with the passing of time, not just four humans possess a symbol on their bodies but eight? None of whom believe in the existence of magic. Which side will these humans take? Shall they aid the fifth, perhaps seduced by false promises? Or will they finally believe that the possible is indeed possible and take a stand?

[.Positions.]

The Four
The Four are the four oldest and most powerful faeries in Arcadia. Having sealed away the fifth, they are the authority figures in the realm. Each of the Four represent one of the symbols of the tarot (Cup, Pentacle, Wand, Sword).

The Messengers
The Messengers are the most trusted and skilled faeries who serve directly under the Four. These faeries have been sent to the human realm in search of the descendants of those that had been marked so long ago.

The fifth
The fifth had stood alongside the fourth on equal terms, falling due to his cravings for power he was eventually sealed away to an alternate dimension by the Four. Having warped this dimension due to his twisted nature, he has found that while the current events of the human realm were harming Arcadia, he in turn, was benefiting from it. Irritatingly enough, with the seal still intact, he is unable to exert his own powers besides that of the mere whisperings that poke and prod humans along...almost as if he were the 'devilish' side of one's conscience. Otherwise, he relies on his minions to do his bidding.

minions
These are faeries that have fallen and had been exiled to the fifth's dimension. Of the many sent there, few survive for long. Those who do end up as warped and twisted as the rest of their surroundings. Although not very powerful (yet very malevolent), they are, for some odd reason, able to pass out of their alternate dimension and into the human realm -- though still strictly unable to return to Arcadia. With this advantage, they are sent back and forth to carry out the fifth's wishes...though often not very effectively, time and persistence still pays off.

The Marked
The Marked are those who bear a symbol of the tarot (Cup, Pentacle, Wand, Sword) somewhere on their bodies. There are eight total who are Marked, though only four possess a key. All eight have a unique weapon or ability, though they are unable to use these until they truly believe in the existence of magic.

[.Abilities.]

Depending on what 'class' your character falls into, they will specialize in different weapons or abilities. Characters are only able to choose one, either a weapon or an ability. Whichever choice it is, they will nevertheless revolve around the general aspect and idea of the symbol they carry. I'm leaving the choice up to the player, as well as coming up with their own weapon or ability.

Weapons can have 'abilities' as well due to their magical qualities. Please try to keep weapons/abilities limited to three per character.

Cup: Healing
Pentacle: Stealth
Wand: Magic
Sword: Strength/Physical attributes

[.Character.Profile.]

Note: This game is not first come first serve. Character profiles must be approved beforehand and once approved will be listed at the bottom of this post. Also, this game will most likely not be a fast paced one, so for those interested hopefully you are patient as well.

Name:
Age: (if applicable)
Race/Symbol: (Faerie, Human, Minion -- Cup, Pentacle, Wand, Sword)
Weapon/Ability: (Depending on what symbol your character bears, their weapon or ability [you are only able to choose one or the other] will differ. Please refer to the above listing on abilities. Keep in mind that since we are playing without any particular rules, abilities cannot be overpowered so please try to limit yourself reasonably.)
Appearance: (A picture or a written description are both fine. Keep in mind that faeries and minions alike have differing forms. A 'true form' - that which they take in Arcadia, and a 'human form' - that which they may take in the human realm [albeit for short amounts of time] to pass off as any other human. Whilst in the human realm and time has run out, faeries/minions will become a miniature version of their 'true forms'...wings and all. However, this form can only be seen by those with the Sight (the Marked), while their 'human form' can be seen by all.)

Reposting my sheet for "The Fifth" here (with some slight revisions), which I assume is still approved.  Glad to see this getting going again!

Name: Abhoth
Age: Unfathomably Ancient
Race: Faerie
Gender: Male
Role: The Fifth
Abilities:

Reality Bending:  Always the control freak, the Fifth has dedicated the majority of his vast lifespan to learning the intricacies of controlling the infinite magical energies of his birthplace.  Though all faeries use this primal magic as their personal plaything, he has taken it to an entirely different level.  His "art", as he calls it, is limited only by his own imagination.  Its practical uses are virtually limitless, though his primary interest is in the creation of personal minions and monstrosities that he can pit against each other for his own amusement.

Sensory Manipulation:  Many faeries employ pheromones or direct mind control in order to lure their victims into the Other World.  Abhoth is not one of them.  He despises the idea of directly controlling another intelligent being, believing that it takes all the enjoyment out of toying with hapless mortals if they cannot even control their own actions.  Instead, the twisted fae alters the perception of his targets, making them see, hear, smell, feel, and even taste things that aren't real.  In this manner he can trick others into following him of their own volition.

Heart of Agony:  A passive ability, and the key to Abhoth's continuously growing power.  He feeds gluttonously upon the cruelties of mankind, particularly in times of war, famine, and disaster.  Though the Four were once enough to seal him within his own pocket dimension, he has since grown into a horror beyond even their unfathomable strength.  Though the malignant nature of mankind fuels him constantly, his insatiable hunger drives him to incite humanity into greater and darker depths of wickedness.

Appearance: Human Form / "Semi-True" Form / True Form

When appearing before humans Abhoth takes on a form far more palatable to a mortal mind, a bronzed figure with a perfect athletic physique and beautiful green wings, shaped like knives but inlaid with a delicate tracery of lightly pulsing purple veins.  He wears scantly more than a loincloth and sometimes a scarf slung around his shoulders.

But despite his power--or perhaps because of it--he is unable to hold this attractive guise for long.  His rich chestnut hair bleaches white, as does his flesh, and his features contort into a wide crocodile grin.  This is how he greets his victims, though it is only a partial transformation.  This body constantly struggles to contain his twisted spirit, its skin cracking open and festering with a seeping darkness that pulls impatiently at his clothes and limbs.

Only deep within his own territory does Abhoth show himself completely.  Such was the foul Faerie's gluttony for power that his natural form became twisted and massive.  He appears as a titanic worm with gaping maw and dozens of greedy, grasping hands, skin pale and wretched with corruption.

Personality:

The Fifth is the sort of sinisterly charismatic individual that could persuade an atheist to start singing the praises of god, a priest to renounce his faith, a pure virgin to performs acts of the utmost lewdness, and a prostitute to join the chantry.  He prides himself in making terrible things sound desirable and wonderful things sound abominable, twisting both his words and the words of others to befuddle and intrigue.  At one moment he may seem innocent and charming, and the next every word will drip with sensuality.  Language is a clever weapon, and he is a master at spinning verbal webs.  He entices indiscriminately, favoring women but luring men in equal measure, though his promises are not always ones of sex and romance.  His preference is a slow hunt, getting to know his prey over many days or weeks, working up his appetite until he can no longer contain himself.

Once brought into the realm of the Fae by his minions, it is almost impossible to get back out again.  The trap sprung, the dark faerie Abhoth often challenges his prisoners with games, promising their freedom should they best his trials.  It is a farce, of course, as the demonic cretin is well known for lying unabashedly.  He claims that the taste of Hope after it has been built up and shattered is a delicacy that he wishes could be savored for an eternity.

Biography:

Abhoth was among the very first of the Faeries, a primordial being of extraordinary age.  In those early days there was no concept of morality or law, and all creatures great and small acted upon instincts and idle whims.  But as the centuries passed a semblance of order began to take form within their magical realm, and a Queen rose among them to give direction to the aimless masses.  The primal chaos was slowly but surely shaped into a true world from the shapeless magical aether, a limitless playground for the Fae Folk to play their games and engage in mischief with one another.

He was among those that aided in this miraculous transformation, but only he looked out upon this new creation and felt dissatisfaction.  The others seemed content with their mischief (as admittedly cruel as such mischief may seem by human standards), but to the one called Abhoth it was not enough.  Seeing an entire dimension take shape beneath his fingers had left him with an intoxicating hunger, and try as he might to satiate himself upon the energies that saturated every inch of the landscape, nothing seemed to fulfill his cravings.  And so he turned to the only other source of food available to him, and did the unthinkable.  Luring his own people into the darkest pockets of the Faerie realm, he devoured them flesh and bone, making their energy his own.  He became bloated from their power, addicted to the taste of their magic-infused blood.  But still his hunger persisted, and with each day he gorged himself on the hapless and the weak-minded.

His endless greed would be his undoing, for it was inevitable that his treachery would not go unnoticed forever.  The Queen herself rallied the greatest of Fae-kind and brought them to bear against the eldritch abomination that Abhoth had become, only to realize that he had grown too powerful to simply destroy.  But though he could not be slain, he could still be trapped.  By combining their power the Dark Faerie was sealed away within an impenetrable prison, containing his strength forever.  Though he could still draw upon all the energies of the realm, he could no longer affect anyone or anything beyond his territory.  And so the fiend was left to fester and hunger within his own personal hell, isolated from his people and their society.

Within this bubble of influence he became something of a God, shaping its interior into a vast and terrible land as twisted and despicable as his corpulent black heart.  It became a mockery of the place he had been banished from, a world of nightmares.  Indescribable things squirmed from beneath his fingertips, awful caricatures of life for him to amuse himself with through the coming aeons.

In time his malice infected the very realm that he had been banished to, transmogrifying it into something blighted and alien.  No longer did it draw upon the near-limitless wells of magic of Arcadia.  Instead, it had found another source in the realm of Man, leeching off of negative emotion, death, and destruction.  Though his private world did not seem to grow from the outside, within its borders the landscape stretched off into an infinite expanse of terror.  The Four could not have predicted such a wild shift, but neither could they have predicted that one of their own would become so abominable.

Wielding all the power of a God, but forced into an eternal cage, Abhoth has sought the Keys lurking within human souls ever since the first banished faerie pledged itself to his rule.  Until now the search has been fruitless, but the Old God is nothing if not patient.  He has waited millennia for this opportunity to present itself.  Word of the Eight Marked ones have reached his ears, and manifold plans are festering within his mind.  His time draws near...

Esoteric Myobi

Glad to have you back on board Shihong =) And as the main villain no less.

I just wanted to make sure with you once again, but Abhoth is only able to enter the human realm in his human form correct? Seemingly for only short amounts of time since he can't keep that form for too long.

Actually, by my understanding of the revised rules he isn't able to enter the human world at all.  I imagine his power is so great that it simply can't be forced into such a small body unless he is actually within his own dimension.  He can merely influence humans by way of whispers or visions (imagine Cthulhu, but with less madness and more smarm).  In order to act physically in the human world, he has to send minions (either other players or written by me), or constructs that are moved with his consciousness (golems, essentially).

Esoteric Myobi

Hm, yes that was basically what I had in mind but I thought that since you included your human form you would have wanted to use it from time to time.

Another option I was thinking of was that Abhoth was almost like an NPC of sorts (played by you of course), but you could actively play as one of the 'minions' so that you'll be able to interact with the others more often?

Depending on how much interest we receive and whether or not others would like to play as faeries as well, I was also juggling around the option of letting the Four be NPCs similar to Abhoth and just have regular faeries sent to the human realm to search.

Since everything's been revised I'm still sort of...not 100% on everything yet. Such as whether or not faeries still appear tiny when they visit the human realm. I'm thinking that if they were to just blend in as just another person then it might make convincing the Marked of magic that much more challenging? Since if you were to see a tiny six inch tall person with wings fluttering in front of you, you'd either think you'd delusional or...believe.

Crovonovin

I think it might be interesting of faeries could switch between a human form and a smaller, more "traditional" faerie form.  They would still be limited in their magic, but it would make it a bit easier to blend in and actually introduce themselves to the Marked without totally freaking out.

I kept the Human Form because I felt that, if Abhoth was trying to persuade some of the Marked over to his side, it would be better to appear as a beautiful young man instead of...well...a monster!  I may play through a minion.  I'll have to see what sort of interest we get before I make a decision.

Esoteric Myobi

Ah~ Makes sense. I shall have to add that little tidbit to the first post. =)

Though the whole concept of a little floating pipsqueak demanding a person to do as they say or else is pretty amusing...

Hopefully we receive enough interest to fill out most (if not all) of the current positions. ^^

Lady Kitsune

Awesome Myobi.   ;D

Putting in for one of the Four.  Swords if there is no objection.  Will get to working on a new profile ASAP.

*lays a trap out for her muse, so she can write*
I am working on it, I swear!

Esoteric Myobi

Shouldn't be a problem Kit =) Not unless someone else pops up who really really wants the Swords position and is able to sway me with their profile >.>;

Unlikely though .-.;

-wonders if Kit can set up a few traps for her own muse as well-

I was deciding between Cup and Wand myself...am settling on Cup for the moment.

Crovonovin

If you two do pick one of the Four, you may run into a similar problem to what I'm facing.  While they're obviously capable of entering the human world, it seems to me that the four most powerful (untrapped) Faeries would be a bit...arrogant.  Namely, they would probably send their own servants in their stead, rather than allow their own magic to diminish by showing themselves in person.

That doesn't mean I think that the Four should be on the level of npcs, just that you may need to think up a "lesser Faerie" character as well.  Just my two cents.

Esoteric Myobi

Yea ^^; I was actually thinking that as well, though I was going to put them on 'NPC' level...sort of. It'd be similar to playing an NPC yet at the same time not. Since in the end what goes on in the human realm would be the main story (though all five play a role as well).

Hm, but I think I'll see how much more interest we get before I do that. For now, the Four are just going to have to (very unhappily) traverse the human realm in search of those beneath them. x3

Hm, I decided to add the option of the lesser faeries after all. I haven't reserved any spots at the moment though since I wasn't 100% sure if everyone playing one of the five wanted to dual role.

Not to mention that there are already so many >.>; er, empty spots waiting to be filled anyway. ^^;

Cassiopeia

The story looks so awesomesauce!  I'm thinking I may go with one of the four after all ... the wand, if there's no objection.  If I'm sticking with Ailie, which I intend to because I really wanna use that character, I don't think any of the other objects would really fit her.  I have some brain storming I must do <.<

rick957

I would totally love to try this game, although I seem to have suddenly fallen behind on my other games, so I don't know if I'll have time to join or not.  This same problem came up for me last time Myobi had a Faerie game that I wanted to join.  :(  Apparently I suck at time management.

Anyway, just wanted to register my interest.  :)  If I find time, I'll work up some kind of character and send it to you, Myobi, for approval.

Esoteric Myobi

Hehe, thanks Cassi. It's only so awesome since I had lotsa help with ideas x3

Would love to have you Rick but don't push yourself if you feel you can't take anymore games. =x It just means we'll have to hope for some other game in the future to play together. =)

Lovely plot, and I *love* the fey. I might be interested in the Pentangle slot. btw, I like the way the four symbols roughly mirror the four main 'food groups' of DnD classes - warrior, rogue, priest, wizard.

Esoteric Myobi

Hm, that actually never occurred to me! But yes, I suppose you can see it as that way.

Which position are you interested in? Since we have a couple different Pentacle slots at the moment. ^^

The fourth of 'The Four'.

Although - I'm curious if perhaps you can outline anything more....tangible? mechanical? Like about the human vs faerie world, moving between them, where the story (or at least our characters) starts, the opening scene, how we even begin to go about finding the eight marked humans, etc.

Esoteric Myobi

Ahh~ I see. Well, I shall be looking forward to seeing your profile then. x3

Hm...well the human world is basically as we know it. Arcadia on the other hand can virtually be anything that we'd like. It can be as beautiful and fantastical as fairy tales, or as dark and sinister as the most horrifying nightmare...though I'm thinking of keeping the horror aspect tucked away to Shihong (the fifth's) little pocket dimension, which would leave the rest of Arcadia pretty well off. Of course, looks can be deceiving, which I believe is the entire concept of the Fey or the 'Fair Folk'.

Moving between them would be done via 'portals', or basically just magical paths or tunnels that happen to connect the two worlds. Most likely they would be at points where magic is prominent, though I'd imagine many of these portals have fallen or become rather unstable due to recent events. I imagine the portals to...hm...sort of like an illusion. It's there, but most don't know it, and others don't realize it when a few people (faerie or otherwise) slip in and out of them. So it looks just like the rest of the surroundings, nothing special as it's blended it, only one with the Sight (for humans) might notice a slight shimmering of air though it would most likely be put off as heat waves. The Fey, I'd imagine, would be able to easily tell where a portal is even without any distinguishing features around it.

When a Faerie leaves Arcadia, their magic is drained considerably since Arcadia has (nearly) infinite amounts of stored magic the faeries are able to do as they please and stay comfortably in their 'True Forms'. Upon leaving Arcadia, due to the sudden decrease in magic available, they are decreased to a miniature form of themselves. Only those with the Sight are able to spot the tiny faeries. For short amounts of time, they can take on their 'Human Form' and mingle amongst the people regularly (everyone can see you in human form). Keep in mind a faerie can only stay in their human guise for a limited amount of time until they change back to their mini versions.

I'm thinking that the Messengers will be the ones who are actually given the task of finding the Marked. Mostly due to the Four being so high and mighty that they wouldn't want to lower themselves to step in the human realm and take on such a demeaning form. Instead, I can see it to be more likely they send those they trust to do the footwork and just wait for the results before actually making their own appearance. Or perhaps the faeries will even bring the Marked back to Arcadia instead?

Finding the Marked...well, I was basically thinking that since each of the Marked have one of the four symbols, whichever faerie of the same symbol will find themselves drawn to the area their Marked is in. Where the actual Mark is for each human may be different and may not even be easy to spot right off the bat, but these humans all have the Sight so maybe they'll catch sight of the faerie? I didn't want the entire thing to literally just be "Hey! Found them!" and go off and explain everything, belief, and etc. I like challenges and I felt this might be a little more...realistic? Of course, there may be a few where the Mark is in plain sight, then the faerie just has to...convince them about what they really are. Hm, let's just say that I think in the end, these particular scenes can be worked out amongst the groups themselves. That'll make things more interesting. =)

The story will begin in different places for the differing characters. Arcadia, along with Shihong's little pocket dimension, will take place in one thread and the faeries will begin there. While the Marked will begin in another thread for the human realm. I haven't decided exactly where yet, though I'll most likely just pick a diverse city (New York City is what I chose last time) and let that be it. From there, each character can make their introductions, get to know the others with a bit of interaction before the Messengers finally go on their way (or perhaps they begin with that) and the story slowly moves along. Opening scenes are mostly written and co-written by each player for their own characters. I tend to just write one general post at the beginning of each thread to give everyone an idea of the current surroundings and situation and players take that into account when starting off.

Did all of that make sense? I ramble at times x.X; Feel free to ask me more questions though. =)

Ramael

First off, great layout, very informative game plan and backstory. :)

I'm interested...I'm just unsure if you're going to get many people wanting to play underpowered "normal" humans opposite fairies and their fairly powerful masters. What if some of the Marked had minor unnatural abilities(all relating to their symbol, of course) , and maybe were predisposed towards the idea of magic, whilst still trying to be fairly rational about it...? S'just for a Marked player, they'd have to spend quite a few posts going "Magic? little people talking to me? Ugh, must be overstressed/tired/hungover etc" before any real interaction kicked in (IMO, anyway, maybe I'm not being creative enough!).

Also, I was wondering about interaction. It looks players may fall into/be stuck with their symbol groups, meaning interaction (with already fairly well established and concreted rules of power between the three,Marked, Messenger and One of the Four) looks to be somewhat limited.

Feel free to bat these ideas and comments away, I appreciate you've put a lot of work into this and it's your baby, so no disrespect intended.

I've only written this much because I genuinely am interested in what looks to be a very rich game!

Esoteric Myobi

Well, I don't really view the Marked as extremely underpowered compared to the rest of the characters and positions. After all, the Marked possess either their own unique ability or their own unique weapon (which in turn, may possess special abilities). So technically, they're all really on the same playing field...the Marked just have to go through the process of being found, coming to terms with magic (perhaps some were more inclined to it, that's fine, but none actually believed 100% until their encounter with the Messengers), and discovering their own hidden talents. If that were the case, it'd basically be like...having all doubts erased from their minds, especially now that they have living proof right in front of them.

All characters are limited to three abilities each. So in that way it's really just up to a person's imagination and creativity on how to best use their chosen specialties. Of course, limitations should always be in place since we don't want anyone to be ridiculously overpowered (prevent godmoding, etc). Or there can always be those who are quite useful and helpful in other areas and yet are physically inept and in need of protection?

I'm thinking that in the beginning, yes it would start off primarily with players falling into their symbol groups. However, everyone would eventually meet. Though at the very beginning, when everyone has just started off and are making introductions, I don't see why players can't meet others in their groups as well. Humans can be wandering around in their realm, while faeries are meeting to discuss in Arcadia. This can make a few ties for everyone to fall back on later, though those with the same symbols will likely meet first and interact more before the others come into the picture.

At the moment, I'm thinking that the five faeries (the Four and the fifth) will most likely be sending others in their place to search out the eight and bring them over to their own sides. So...while this almost makes them into NPC roles, it just means that the players of the five are given the option of dual roling as one of the Messengers or minions if they'd like -- since those will basically be the roles with the most interaction in the beginning. Of course, it's not a requirement since I know a few of us (myself included) take quite a while posting and may be better off just with a character that doesn't need constant replies. It's really just up to the player and what they feel they are able to do.

So, this all sounds fascinating, but I've realized I won't have the time for another group RP right now. (It has nothing to do with this specific RP - which is like the only group one I've expressed any recent interest in at all! I couldn't even juggle another solo right now.)

Esoteric Myobi

Dx!!

Well, I'm very sorry to see you go. =( Though it seems that this game won't be taking off for some time yet so perhaps by then you'll be freer? x3....Let's hope~

Yeah, it's possible things will change for me later. I guess I shouldn't say there's NO change I'll want to partake - rather, for everyone to please consider the Pentacle of the Four slot open still.

Esoteric Myobi

Hm, well at the moment only four spots are taken which leaves plenty more open. Unfortunately we only have one profile up at the moment due to busy schedules from other players (myself included) but will hopefully be up sometime...soonish...perhaps the end of the week? ^^;

Perhaps with the profiles, more interest will be shown.

I'll get on it after I've seen a few, it will give me a better insight into your world. :)

Iksander

Name: Shards of Understanding
Alias Name: Samuel Artisan
Age: ~2500 years
Race/Symbol: Minion- Wand
Ability:

Transcendental Madness: While the fractal patterns that make up Shards' true form are not dangerous to fae minds, any mortal with the Sight who gazes upon his true or half form will find their wills locked into conflict with Shards'.  If Shards emerges victorious, which is far harder agains the Marked, the victim will find their mind infected with madness, taking various forms depending on the individual in question, but typically taking the form of some obsession or compulsion, often dealing with discovering truth or mathematical insight.

Reflections of Glimpsed Truth: Much as the Fifth has learned to gain power from despair, Shards has learned to a glimmer of power from mathematics and rationality.  While he was limited in earlier eras, in the modern, he can maintain his illusionary form and presence in the human practically indefinitely.

Angles of Shattering:  Doubt is a very powerful weapon against the fae, and Shards has accumulated an excess amount of it, during his time with humanity.  As such, he can release it is as harmful bursts, taking the form of luminous equations.  These attacks damage the illusions and constructs of the fae, sucking away at their energy while leaving the living form beneath intact.

Appearance:
Human Form: In his human form, Samuel is not a pleasant sight.  He is short and pudgy and balding and ill-dressed at most circumstances, complete with a set of thick glasses at almost all times.  But despite the unpleasantness of his appearance, he has a way of persuading people with his voice, which has rich, clear tones and is always backed up with the soundest of arguements.  He never seems to lose his temper, and appears to carry himself with logic and forthright at all times.

Half Form:  Oddly enough, his half form may be his most beautiful.  His flesh seems to recede into itself and he becomes a figure of coherent light.  But etched into the flesh of his form, oozing out like inky blood, are arcane formulae speaking of strange and forbidden knowledge, moving over his flesh in strange patterns that tantalize and hypnotize the eye.

True Form: In his true form, Shards losing anything resembling humanity.  He becomes an odd conglomeration of fractal planes, constantly shifting and moving and yet remaining the same.  His voice sounds more like chimes in this state, the movement of alien materials, flowing in accordance with his bizarre will.

Personality:

Shards is an oddity.  What most fae find amazing about humanity, their compassion, their courage, their tenacity, to be the signs of their infected and weak minds.  He believes himself above such petty things.  Rather, he praises humanity for their ability to search for the unknown, for their ability to wander to the edge of understanding and throw themselves over.  And of course, their ability to deny what they cannot touch, what they cannot understand.  He enjoys tempting the curious with new understandings, before forcing their fragile minds into madness.  Nothing pleases him more than breaking an innocent and destroying hope, except for perhaps binding their wills to meaningless patterns, to pretty lights and loud noises without substance.  Where humanity falters, he gains strength.

He cares very little about the big picture, he can let the Fifth handle that.  His strength is in details, in observance of the smallest pieces of the pattern.  While he acknowledges that the Fifth is more powerful than him, he does not follow the Fifth out of loyalty or fear.  Instead, he understands that they have similiar objectives in forcing humanity down the road it is treading, and has no desire for humanity to discover some other path due to negligence or the interference of the fae.

Biography:

Shards was born from the fever dreams of a madman.  Pythagoras gave him life in his strange cult and mysteries.  This makes him quite young in comparison to many of his peers, but what he lacked in age, he made up for in adaptability.  He always kept himself a degree apart from the rest of the fae, instead choosing to observe humanity at their work.  In those early days, he was a purer creature, bringing genius instead of madness, exploration instead of repression.  But as the years went on, and the centuries went on, the slow descent of humanity's progress, its turning away from imagination, tainted him far more than anything else could.

He grew cynical, and bitter.  He inspired revolts and revolutions, he helped mankind unleash the pandora's box of higher and higher levels of technology.  And when he returned to Arcadia, his fellows were disgusted with what become of him, and they cast him down to the Abyss.  There, his bitterness grew and festered like a sore on his soul.  He languished in the hell that the Fifth had crafted from himself.  But then, he discovered the cracks.  They were razor thin then, so tiny that none of his fellows could pass, but he aligned himself, so that his edges, infinitely thin, slid through.  He travelled the twisting ways and returned to the land of humanity.

He has kept a low profile over the last century or so, but some say that someone matching his appearance served as a consultant for the Manhattan project, whilest others suggested that he aided in Russian bioweapon labs.  There is no doubt, though, that he is pleased by the new shapes that equations have taken, of the round-about ways that man has come to solidfying reality under their belief.  And now he is almost content, sitting and waiting as a tenured professor in New York City, awaiting the time when he must act again, to ensure that his enemies do not gain the advantage they desire.
I'm Just Some Guy.

My first minion, and I must say that I am impressed!  I particularly enjoy the idea that different Fae, once confined within Abhoth's realm, draw their power from aspects of humanity other than negative emotions.

Lady Kitsune

#28
After tweeking with half a brain, I have put her up.  Now I can fall on my face.

Name: Iseult of the Moon

Age: So old she is Legend.

Race/Symbol: Faerie/ Sword

Weapon/Ability:  Isuelt's abilities are tied to the Moon, She is at her most powerful when the Moon is full or new.  She is most vulnerable during the 'kiss' when the moon begins its cycle of waxing or waning, her powers diminish for a short time to almost nothing.

Powers

Shape shifting:   Iseult can shape shift into the raven, the wolf, the horse, and the cat.  During the full moon she can shift with ease and into any form but as the moon wanes it becomes less powerful and she usually keeps her shifting to a minimum.

Moonlight and Shadows: The full Moon gives Iseult the gift of light manipulation.  She can give moonlight tangibility.  Likewise, the new Moon gives her control over shadows.  At half Moon, she can use both but the power is weaker and she must concentrate harder, though casting illusions is easier for her at this time.

The Hand of the Rose:  This ability is more of a weapon.  When Iseult enters a room, she brings with her the scent of roses.  A beautiful perfume whose heady aroma dulls the senses and brings about a languid lethargy.  She can make it rain rose petals and yet, anger her and the petals can whirl into a storm and cut like tiny blades.  She can make thorny vines sprout from any plant to bind and cut.  This power is her tie to Arcadia and the Earth.  She uses this at a minumum since over exposure to the scent can also begin to effect her.

Weapon

Morpheus:  A silver and onyx blade.  Bound to her powers, the blade's cut can freeze as cold as hoarfrost or burn like the hottest fire.  A long and elegant blade, the pommel carries a Moonstone that changes with the phases of the moon.  The hilt is silver and gold, one side jagged ice, the other errant flames.  Like Iseult, Morpheus is tied to her phases and magic.  In another's hands it is but a pretty blade, in hers it is Death.  Yet, as her power waxes and wanes so does Morpheus'.

Appearance: Iseult forms are tied to the Moon’s phases.

Human form: A young girl in her early twenties with long raven locks that have a slight curl.  She stands at an average height but she is beyond average in her looks.  She is pale of skin a slight of build with eyes as blue as the ocean and lips as red as blood.  Pixie like in features, she is amused that humans akin her to the fairytale princess Snow White.  If only they knew….

Faerie Forms: In her full moon phase, Iseult is tall and lithe.  Her hair is straight and fine like strands of spun pearls and eyes like liquid silver.  Her skin has an almost translucent paleness that shimmers like mother of pearl and she glows softly as if she carries the moon inside her.  She moves as if she is delicate and graceful but that is a deception.  When she speaks it is as if there is music coming from another room but it falls from the soft pink cupid’s bow of her lips.  Her wings are white and feathery, giving her an almost angelic appearance.
When the moon is dark, she is a sensual creature with long black hair with blue highlights.  Lips full and red as if they were petals of a red, red rose and eyes like a starry night, black ringed in silver.  She loses a few inches of height and her slightly curved form becomes more…curvaceous.  She moves like a predatory tigress and her gaze can be disconcerting as if she sees your secrets.  Moonshine skin and wings of a midnight raven, she seems to move in a halo of dark light.
During the half phases, Iseult height fluctuates.  Her hair during the waxing phase is black with a white streak and in the waning she is white with a black streak.  Her eyes do much of the same.  The only difference is her moon white Monarch butterfly wings.

Personality:  Iseult personality is volatile to say the least.  The full Moon makes her a cold creature and the New, she is like fire.  In between, she is a mixture of both.  Some mistake her fluctuations for insanity but under that intensity, she is rather calculated.  She kills with ease, and likes to eat pixies for hors de voers.  She is rather disdainful and believes herself to be the wisest of creatures.  Could be the narcissism.  She uses fear as a weapon and logic as a tool and yet there are times where she is strangely empty headed.

Biography: Iseult cannot remember the beginning of her existence.  Said to be born in a shaft of moonlight on a special night when the planets and stars aligned in a pocket of Wild Magic.  She sprang forth and just…was.  She is so old that even she has forgotten the legends that have surrounded her.  Given many names by mortals, a battle goddess of Irish lore, a mysterious enchantress of Arthurian legend, and dark shamaness in the lands of ice and snow.  She has been many things and yet she has always been herself.  Foolish are mortals who try to name her.  But her favorite tale of yore is the Jack Frost.  Born of hoarfrost, Jack is the free spirit she created when she blew upon her blade.
Iseult resides in a place of dark forests and enchanted lagoons.  It is wise to step wary in her territory as all seems lovely.  The flora and fauna are docile at a glance but fare too close and…well, enter at your own risk.  Here the Wild Magic runs free and it can change those who enter as it has changed those who reside there.  Here the legends of not partaking in the foods of the Fae are born, that to dance in the Wild Woods, you dance forever.
Always, Iseult has been loyal to the Queen, which was always odd, since she seemed to always be at odds with all others.  Only once did she try to refuse the Queen.  It was the Imprisonment of Abhoth.  Iseult was adamant that allowing Abhoth to live would come back and haunt them all.  He was a danger to both Arcadia and the human world but even she had to concede there was no time for an alternative.  The Faerie Court of the Shining Throng has always been one of intrigue and her refusal was taken in by the others as allying with Abhoth.  Iseult was insulted by this since she sided with no one.  Yet she was one and there were three others and even she had to agree that Abhoth was a menace. Capitulating out of necessity and a need to be gone from the Court to sulk in her home, she joined in the spell that would lock the Fae away for as long as they were alive.  When it was done, she continued to have a nagging feeling that something was wrong.  The laws of the Universe would not be denied and now all their sins had come home to Arcadia to roost.  Time for Iseult to gather to her the Wild Hunt and seek that which will peirce Abhoth's heart once and for all.

I am working on it, I swear!

Iksander

Name: Reginald "Reggy" Townsend
Age: 28
Race/Symbol: Marked - Sword
Weapon/Ability: Durandal (See Below)

Appearance: Reggy is a well built man, tall and muscular, in the peak fitness of his life.  His features are rugged and square and his eyes a piercing blue, while his hair is a shock of red, scraggly at the moment.  He wears simple, yet durable, clothes, always prepared for things to take a turn for the worst.  Despite his broad build, he moves with the grace of a jungle cat, dangerous and smooth at once.

Personality: Despite his background, Reggy is a laid back fellow during his off hours.  He's content to relax and blow off steam at a bar, or go clubbing, or take a different woman home with every night.  On the job, though, he is more serious, the epitome of professional.  While not broadly educated, he doesn't lack intelligence, and is quite knowledgable about soldiery and weaponry.

Biography:  Reggy was an all-American boy.  The center of the defensive line in high school, and a patriot above all else.  He joined the military right out of high school, despite the promise of a football scholarship, simply because he thought it was his duty.  It definitely helped that he was a third generation army brat, though his father never pressured him to join the service.

He had a distinguished career for nearly six years, when a convoy he was escorting to Baghdad was caught in an IED.  The shrapnel from the blast crippled him, and the doctors claimed he had suffered from permanent spinal cord injury.  He would receive the best possible medical care, though, and was laid up in the army hospital in Landstuhl for several months to recover from his other injuries.

He nearly gave into despair, at the thought of never being able to walk again, of never being able to engage in the physical exertion that he derived so much pleasure from.  But something strange happened during his stay at Landstuhl, which to this day he continues to chalk up to an hallucination brought from the drugs he was on.

A ghostly figure appeared in his room, lacking a head, and carrying a small wooden case.  Despite being headless, the figure navigated the room with ease, setting the case near Reggy's bed side.  And words entered Reggy's mind, words of comfort and of courage and of hope.  Even if the whole thing wasn't a hallucination, the details were lost to the fog of drug intoxication.

But the case was real and inside laid a silver-plated Desert Eagle, with the word "Durandal" etched onto the barrel.  After receiving the mysterious gift, Reggy's condition miraculously improved.  He still had to go through months of rigorous physical therapy, but Reggy walked out of the hospital and went back to his home in New York City.  He still keeps the Desert Eagle at his side, whenever possible.

His injury, though, had already led to him being honorably discharged, and he is able to make a comfortable living off of his medical reimbursement and his pension, but it's not enough.  He feels the call in his heart to right wrongs and help those in need.

Durandal
The most legendary sword in all of European history is, indubitably, Excalibur.  It should be noted first and foremost that Durandal is not Excalibur.  Excalibur is the weapon of a king, an indicator of status as much as a weapon of war.  Durandal is a soldier's weapon, a knight's weapon, a tool of war and war alone.

Abilities:
Transformation: The blade can change its shape, assuming the form of the weapon most comfortable to its wielder.  Once fully attuned to its power, the Marked can willfully change the form of the blade, allowing it to take the shape of whatever weapon desired.

Excellence: The wielder of Durandal finds their skills in battle increased, their knowledge of small tactics, their ability to read their foes in battle.  As the wielder becomes more attuned, the more they excel, and it is said that a warrior fully attuned to Durandal can only be brought low by treachery, though the raw might of the fae may be able to challenge that claim.

Enhancement: The wielder of Durandal also finds himself transformed.  As with their excellence, this increases as the attunement becomes complete.  The wielder grows faster and stronger and tougher, and even becomes able to return to full strength faster, even if laid low by a blow that would cripple an ordinary man.  Even at its full power, Durandal cannot reverse death.

Attuning to the blade requires two processes.  First, the wielder must become open to the world of the fae.  Second, the wielder must come to embody the aspects of the blade.  These aspects were imprinted by the most powerful personalities to wield it in battle, and a current wielder can embody either the positive or the negative aspects: the virtues and the vices of his previous incarnations.

History

Courage and Rage
Roland may not be the first man to wield Durandal, but he was the first to imprint his personality onto it.  He battled against the Saracens on behalf of Charlemagne without fear and without question and without mercy.  He waded into battle and his blade sliced his enemies to pieces, a hundred men falling to his fierce skill.  If not for the betrayal of his closest companion, he may have slaughtered the entire army himself, but he did fall, as all wielders of Durandal fall.

Honor and Obsession
The next wielder to imprint upon the blade was the last true knight.  In an age that had become to move on, the magic of the world fading into disbelief and humanistic doubt, he clung to his old beliefs.  He charged into battle against giants, though his peers thought he was merely tilting at windmills.  He lived long, though, to a ripe age, before the changing of the times his own increasing frailty led to a catastrophic defeat.  Durandal was broken and the knight was slain in battle against a potent minion of the Fifth.

Justice and Cynicism
All was not lost though, as the loyal squire of the knight travelled the lands to recover the fragments of the broken blade.  He did not live to see his task completed, and so he charged his own squired to continue the journey.  It would be centuries before the fragments were recovered.  They were not reforged into a sword, though, but into a gun, a symbol of the new era.  A nameless gunman was chosen by Durandal and he went into the wastes of the Wild West, using his revolver to bring justice to an unjust land and seek the salvation of the innocent.  He died, though, alone and betrayed, after his quest for justice pushed him too far.

Compassion and Passiveness
The raging heart of the blade had consumed many of its masters, driving them to dark deeds of violence and destruction and hate, even as it endeavored to bring new light to the world.  The last wielder of the blade was a young man, drafted to fight in the war to end all wars.  He had no desire to fight though, and his conscience rebelled against violence.  Strange then, that his fate would lead him to grasping Durandal in his hands.  He should have been broken.  His heart should have been torn out by the raging inferno of the blade, but this young man, pure of heart, pure of intention, and driven by the noblest of convictions, mastered the blade.  He became famous for capturing over a hundred soldiers, single handedly.  He is less known for the calm that he brought to the blade, and the salvation it might now offer to those that wielded it rightly.

There were others as well, champions from a hundred times.  Was Durandal Balmung of the Gae Bolga?  These things are lost to the tide of times.  What is known is that the last man to wield before its current owner was also a man named Roland.  He was a Thompson Gunner, who died aiding the Congolese resistance, and lost his head for his troubles.  Will it bring such a dark fate to its new owner?  Or will its new owner become a part of the blade and imprint new virtues upon its soul? Only time will tell.
I'm Just Some Guy.
Really.

Iksander

That's right, I like the concept so much that I decided to make two characters to play along. =)

I'm definitely looking forward to playing both, and I do like that I can make a supernatural being that is down-right... weird for a change, rather than playing with the set trope set.  Hopefully Shards will be a useful minion for you Shihong!
I'm Just Some Guy.
Really.

Crovonovin

Oh he most certainly will, I'm sure of it.

I do enjoy that he is not simply a slave, like the two characters I am going to introduce in the coming days.  It stands to reason that they both have much to gain by playing off one another.  Abhoth desires war and strife, while the Shards desire scientific progress and enlightenment.  It just so happens that wartime happens to bring about many scientific advancements, so they both win in equal measure!

I'm also glad that we finally have a Marked in the midst, and I'm very eager to see if he will rise above temptation or find himself swayed along a darker path...

Lady Kitsune

Nice Marked, Iksander.  I very much like your weapon.  *laughs because she thought about using Excalibur*

Shihong, you are always thinking up wicked things...well, I can be wicked, too.  *rubs her hands together gleefully*

Which reminds me....now I have to wrack my brain for a suitable fairy to convince Reggy.  All-American, huh?  Don't worry, I'm not sending Buffy.  Darn it and I just finished my Main profile.  *grins and goes a thinking*
I am working on it, I swear!

Iksander

Reggy is definitely temptable.  While the calling of Durandal is towards a higher cause, there is darkness beneath it all.  And above all else, he's still human, with all the same human weaknesses as the rest of the species.

I was definitely thinking about Excalibur when I got started, and the contrast between the classic ideal hero, the lone soldier, the demi-god and champion of the gods, and the more chivalric model, of the good and just ruler.  I could easily see the other Sword Marked as being the wielder of Excalibur, and have some tension there.  I'm definitely looking forward to see what you two bring to bear against the poor fellow, though.

Shards would be very much happy to go things alone if the Fifth turns on him.  But yes, they do certainly stand to gain more by working together than by working against each other.  Of course, there could be some tension there along the line if their interests end up being something besides mutual.

#34
Name: Anwen
Race: Faerie Messenger - Pentacle
Age: If ever asked the numbers are forever changing though only one pattern stays the same, the numbers always get substantially lower with each telling though it is well known that she has been around for quite a while already.

Abilities:

Artful Persuasion - A singer of uncanny ability, Anwen has the ability to not only charm but also persuade with her voice. By hitting a certain pitch or using a certain tone, she can easily ask a tree to shed its bark for her, shape a strong rope from a bunch of young vines, or mine gold without lifting a finger. Of course, this pertains to humans and faeries alike and many times seems far too easy. The success of her ability depends on how susceptible the person is. Marked, Minions, and other Messengers are hard to persuade, though it can be done with enough time given to her. When used on the Four (and Fifth), success isn't even possible.

Nature Manipulation - Like many other fae, Anwen is rather in tune with nature. This explains why she can so easily manipulate it with her songs when needed, though over the years her familiarity with the silent beings have formed to an almost mutual understanding. Now she can freely mold her surroundings as she sees fit by asking, or commanding, nature to bend to her will. While in the human realm, it becomes much more difficult due to how contaminated nature has become as well as the significant loss of magic available.

Silent Voice - Many think that nature hasn't a mind of its own, probably due to the fact that it can't speak. Oh, how wrong they are. All of nature is alive, even the twisted and strangely different one of Arcadia, and just as they all breathe and live, so they all think and chatter. The whispers of nature are soft, a low underlying voice that undulates beneath the constant hum of the rest of moving life. With enough concentration, she can hear their conversation though she cannot actually converse with them and many times has to sift through meaningless chatter before she is able to hear anything worthwhile.

Appearance:

Human Form - A nondescript woman who looks to be in her mid twenties, Anwen's human form stands at five feet with mousy brown hair and sky blue eyes. Usually seen wearing glasses of some sort, or with disheveled bangs hiding her eyes, she wears conservative clothing and gives off the impression of a girl who holds promise of being beautiful. A hidden gem undiscovered.

True Form - Delicate wings that look as if they will break with the slightest breath of wind carry her petite figure aloft with quick flurries of movement. Thin as parchment, elegant swirls of light olive green swirl throughout the encasing pale yellow of her wings, very much like a plant seeking sunlight as they branch every which way. Bright amethyst eyes peer out at the world behind long strands of silver-white hair. Her hair tumbles down in wild and untamed waves, stopping at her waist. When in her true form, streaked tints of violet can be seen, a bare hint of color to her shockingly bright mop of metallic white. A heart-shaped face ends with a sharp chin, high cheekbones and full lips that are usually fixed in pouting disappointment or curved in a pleasant smile of malicious intent. Anwen's cool, sharp, and lovely face is marred, or complimented, by the shape of a small leaf across one of her cheekbones. Whether it was a birthmark or a tattoo, it is hard to tell.

Her body is as pleasant to the eye as any faerie's, a bountiful bosom just barely covered with a strange material though leaving more than enough of her luminous olive-toned skin showing to catch a glimpse of the curve of her waist and the shapely legs dangling beneath. The one piece dress she wears seems to be soft and flowing, almost like a silvery brown silk. Yet, just as it looks similar to the bark of winter trees, the material is abnormally strong and resistant to wear and tear. When she moves, the one piece dress flashes a multitude of colors: peat black, moss green, ash gray, sky blue...as well as the more unnatural colors of rosy pink, crystalline ice, and that fantastic hue of majestic purple...though at times the colors seem somewhat random, the general consensus is that it either depends on her mood or more likely her current surroundings that reflect off of the mysterious attire.

Standing at a grand height of four and three quarter inches while in the human world, Anwen has found that her tiny stature can be quite convenient at times though it still seems to be mostly inconvenient. Upon arriving back home, she's much more comfortable with her height of five feet.

Personality: Proud and spirited, Anwen can almost be seen as wild. She cares little for others save for those she deems fellow friends or deeply respects, and even then she can be seen as a bit cold and aloof at times. The mischievous streak runs clearly in her though the faeries' malevolent side is quite close to the surface as well. She hates to lose and can be found sulking unhappily and rather ungracefully in some corner of the realm when she comes in second or not at all. To win, to be right, and to have her way are just a few of her favorite things.

Blunt and painfully to the point at times, Anwen doesn't see the point behind wasting her precious breath on being tactful unless truly needed. Calm and sensible, always keeping a cool head can make her more dangerous than a first glance gives away. Not easily scared or frightened, she has a tendency to lie back and analyze the situation first before making a move, but never thinking so long that an opportunity is lost. However, prideful and vain as most other faeries are, to be charmed, complimented, and flattered always mean a few extra bonus points for that specific person. As easily as her temper is 'soothed', the rage seething just beneath the surface, it can just as easily jump back up and hell hath no wrath as a faerie (Anwen) scorned.

Love all the new profiles (though you already know that) and can't wait to see more. ^^

Well, at least I hope we'll see more. =P

Have finally posted up my own profile for one of my characters, though technically it's incomplete at the moment. Perhaps we'll soon be seeing the spot for the Four's Pentacle filled. =)

It looks great!  I'll put together sheets for Abhoth's personal gophers slaves lackies soon.  They should be...colourful, to say the least!

Also Myobi, I'm getting an error for the link to her Human Form.  Maybe it's just on my end, but I thought you should know.

Esoteric Myobi

Looking forward to seeing them x3

Hm, I just clicked on it and it seems to work for me. Though that might just be due to the fact that I already found the photo itself on my laptop?

-wonders if the others can't see it either?-

I'm getting an error from the picture as well.  It's something I've seen before, where the web-site wants to prevent hot-linking.  If you've already accessed the web-site, or if you type the URL in manually, you can click the link just fine, otherwise you get an error.

Nope, I can't see it either.

Esoteric Myobi

Hm, should be fixed now. I've moved it to my photobucket. >.>;

Another thought that just occurred to me. Since there are 8 Marked total but only 4 will have keys, we'll eventually have to figure out which player would like their character to possess a key and which wouldn't mind if they didn't have one.

Soo....Iksander, any preferences?

I'm inclined to say that Reggy doesn't have a key.  His incarnations have this nasty of habit of being killed.  A lot.  And especially with my personal leaning that the other sword guy would probably be a more regal figure, it makes sense that the other Sword Marked would be the key-holder.

And the link works great now. =)

Esoteric Myobi

Iksander: Great, that was the feeling I got from your character anyway. Let's hope for another good and righteous swordsman then. =) (Though it doesn't necessarily have to be swords specifically -- just a note to any interested players for the spot!)

Kitsune: It depends really. The Messengers will be serving directly under the Four of the same Mark, so if you were to play a Messenger who was also a Sword then the interactions between your Messenger and the Four would literally just be one very very long scene with yourself. If you're fine with that (or prefer that) then go for it. If you'd rather interact with someone else and have a bit more variety then it'd probably be better to choose a different symbol.

For the picture link working: Yay! =D!

Lady Kitsune

*nods*  Perhaps I'll wait a bit for the other profiles, then.  Hopefully by the time this game is up and running, my brain will function normal... or abnormal depending on how you look at it.

Sorry Iksandar, I will not be your Messenger but Iseult is waiting and watching.   :P
I am working on it, I swear!

Iksander

Well, with any luck, Iseult will get to know Reggy quite well at some point.

Hopefully with all of these profiles up and this good bit of chatter, we'll be able to get some more interested people into the game. =)
I'm Just Some Guy.

I'm sure everyone will be getting to know everyone else in some way, shape, or form. =) Hopefully anyway...if not, at least we can all enjoy reading each others' wonderful works~!

#47
Name: Edgar Crowley
Age: 22
Race/Symbol: Human. Cup.

Weapon/Ability: Font of Life: Body and soul, suffused with the energy of life itself. Wounds he suffers heal at a greatly accelerated rate (approximately 3x faster than normal for a human).  His physical constitution is nothing short of spectacular. He can also channel the energy into another being, healing their wounds. Using his power in this way is exhausting for him, however.

Appearance: 5'11 or so in height, approximately 200 lbs in weight. Has an average amount of muscular strength, and a slight pot belly. His legs are very thick and muscular, however. His hair, which goes halfway down his back, and is often in a pony tail, is black with dark red streaks. His eyes are chocolatey brown. He has a full facial beard and mustache that has been dyed red and black to match his hair.  He tends to look quite somber. He has a small, grail shaped birthmark on the back of his right hand.

Personality: Kind, caring, compassionate, emotional, creative, and perhaps, just a little mentally unstable. Definitely an outcast in society.

Biography: Growing up, Edgar always used to love to read fantasy novels. Xanth, The Wheel of Time, Lord of the Rings, other, less well known but equally wondrous tales. As he grew older, his attention turned to writing, and playing roleplaying games.

Edgar's always been something of an outcast. nerd, dork, geek, whatever they called him, he didn't care. They were all stupid, too caught up in mundanity and the banality of existence, while he hoped  and searched for something more.

His talents as a writer are nothing spectacular, but he keeps on churning out short stories and longer, novella length works. He has no fame to speak of, and barely gets by on his meager take from meager sales.

Ahem...Hello All.  I put this together while you all slept!! ;-)

Will it suffice??  Tell me if you want me to change anything...and I might!  :-D

Name:  Dr Joel Brandon
Age:    30
Race/Symbol:  Human, Pentacle (k)

Weapon/Ability:
Sleight of hand – as a young prankster his dexterity was second to none and his confounding ability to pick pockets and entertain with magic tricks were legendary amongst his friends. Now in his final year of surgical residency as an ophthalmologist at the New York Presbyterian Hospital his surgical dexterity is lauded by his peers as simply brilliant. His hands are “the best in the business”.

Appearance:
6', black hair, pale skin and azure eyes, his appearance is striking. His skin is unblemished except for a dark and distinct, five pointed star of discolouration on the inside of his right bicep. He dresses expensively but casually; his loose fitting clothes falling naturally on his balanced frame.

Personality:
Hold him down, pin his arms to the ground, intimidate him, make menacing threats of violence and he will break into hysterical laughter. Joel is so confident in his own ability that he has never been in a position where he has been afraid of anything or anyone. Even his demonic drive to excel in his profession occupies only a fraction of his intellect and he would happily take another direction if something more interesting came to his attention.

Not everything in the garden is rosy, however. Joel has for a long time now danced through life to hide and cope with the fundamental and deep abyss that comes with not knowing who he really is.

Blood red is his favourite colour for everything...especially when paired with black.

Biography:
Born to Irish parents in Queens, Joel became a ward of the state when they both tragically died in a motor vehicle hit and run incident shortly following his tenth birthday. His ancestry was surprisingly non-existent when police attempted to find his blood relatives. It appears that his parents were not at all what they seemed; their supposed arrival from Ireland could not be traced and their source of income equally mysterious. Child welfare workers found no records to show that he had actually ever been born and the authorities had to create new papers to allow the mysterious child to grow up with any sense of belonging.

He had surprising resilience and his acumen became apparent during his first year at school following his tenth birthday. Teachers had no record of his early schooling, but his academic abilities showed that he had indeed received tuition and mentoring that placed him in a ‘very gifted’ category.  He excelled when he deigned to concentrate but academy during these years was not his principal focus. He made friends quickly and was in high social demand for his card tricks and magic that had everyone bewildered no matter how closely they scrutinised his hand movements.

Picking pockets was easy and taking ladies wrist watches from trembling arms and breathless girls was a regular pastime at the student union bar.  One of his less savoury achievements was presenting a particularly attractive, but obnoxious girl’s lace thong to her equally obnoxious and bewildered boyfriend across the table.

His later academic prowess is now a matter of record. Eyes are his principal obsession; his research has uncovered much more than he had believed possible. He notices not just the physical superficialities but the nuances of iridology, health and deeper psychological undercurrents manifesting through the eyes.

He has no long term lover, a series of sexual dalliances catering for his needs to date, although his ‘needs’ have been more demanding of late and a new obsession in this arena looks decidedly probable.

The Unholy Potato

Myobi, I would like to thank you for the invitation and report my interest! I'm thinking of either the Wand or the Pentacle of the four, but haven't yet settled upon which most strongly interests me.

This whole thing looks very nifty, even though I'm not usually much for the "wee wingéd folk" sort of fairy, but this makes it work a lot better than most that I've encountered.

cere

OK...on advice from the GM, Joel is a star!!!
O:)

So glad that you took an interest in the game Mr. Potato! ^^ Whichever role you decide to play, I shall be looking forward to seeing your character profile. =)

I think most people tend to stray away from the concept of faeries as well, but hopefully others will read and be similarly interested in joining. Hopefully.

Crovonovin

Name: Miss Helena White
Age: As Old as the first Human to raise a fist against his brother.
Race/Symbol: Minion (Sword)

Weapon/Ability:
Shield Form: Can only be used in conjunction with Mr. Black. By grasping her firmly by the forearm, Miss White is transmuted into a massive Tower Shield capable of deflecting most physical and magical assaults away from it. This is different from mere structural durability. Instead of withstanding attacks, incoming blows have their vectors reversed in the opposite direction. Ultimately, the best defense against this ability is to either find a way around it or simply refrain from attacking in the first place.

Limitless Growth: Can only be used while within Abhoth's realm. As the name suggests, Miss White is capable of increasing her own weight and mass indefinitely for as long as she feels sufficiently empowered, or unless her master actively limits her. If her confidence is shattered in any way she will gradually return to her normal size.

Appearance:

Human Form (Pictured): Like other minions, Miss White is able to remain in a human guise for as long as she wishes due to drawing strength from human emotions, rather than the magic of Arcadia. She appears as a fiercely beautiful young woman, tall and long-legged and draped in an aura of superiority. Contrary to her name she prefers to wear only black clothing, and can be most commonly found parading herself about in a cocktail dress (for casual situations) or a no-nonsense business suit that was clearly tailored for a male physique. In professional circles she is called "The Widow", both for her grim attire and cruel demeanor.

True Form: In Abhoth's dimension the human guise is stripped away, revealing an humanoid figure carved from dry charcoal and engraved with all manner of slithering symbols and blasphemous rites. The gravity in her immediate vicinity is unusually intense, and lesser beings commonly find themselves bowing in her presence whether they wish to or not.

Personality: Miss White draws her power from the human emotion of Arrogance, and it certainly shows. She considers no man or woman her better, and must constantly be reminded that she is not the one in control when in Abhoth's presence. Though many of the Fifth's minions are driven by a constant lust for power, she is most certainly not one of them. Indeed, she fully believes that she already possesses all the power that she will ever need. Her habit of talking down her nose at others can be terribly infuriating, particularly when in a business setting. Like a member of some long-outdated aristocracy, she commands obedience and loyalty from all she meets, and becomes visibly distraught and irritated when others rebuff her demands.

Biography: Miss White was one of many faeries born at the advent of mankind, as opposed to those created at the start of the Universe. This younger generation was notorious for being particularly mischievous and prone to disobeying The Four, and caused no end of mayhem as they tore through Arcadia in search of fun and new sights to satiate their burning curiosity. Though a nuisance, these Younglings were generally not considered to be much of a threat on their own, and were allowed to do as they pleased with the understanding that any personal slights against their betters would be met harshly and without mercy. Though her brother was content to explore Arcadia in relative peace, Helena's mind was laden with the crushing weight of intense dissatisfaction.

Everything she saw seemed distasteful and beneath her. Every flower and tree was viewed with disdain and criticized ruthlessly as the product of a particularly incompetent artist. In her eye Arcadia itself was an inferior creation of doddering old simpletons who wouldn't know a technically sound aesthetic if it bit them on the rear end. So it was that she began to gather other like-minded faeries (or cowed others into submission with her forked tongue) with the intent to overthrow the ruling body so that Arcadia could be remade in her image.

It was a quick and pitiful revolution that ended before it even had the chance to pick up steam. Helena was brutally maimed by the collective powers of the Four, and along with her dutiful brother her mangled frame was tossed beyond the Shattered Veil to be eaten by the Betrayer. But Abhoth was in one of his rare moods of benevolence. More precisely, he was not quite so hungry as to be blinded to the possible uses for such a driven, confident, and charismatic individual. Her easy connection with the human world made her all the more desirable as a hunter for the Marked, and alongside Mr. Black she has searched for these individuals across the ages. In vain.

Name: Mr. Randis Black
Age: As Old as the first Human to be killed by his brother.
Race/Symbol: Minion (Sword)

Weapon/Ability:

Sword Form: Can only be used in conjunction with Miss White. Like her Shield Form, this weapon works in a very different fashion from a regular blade. Though certainly durable, it is no sharper than an ordinary steel broadsword. However, it does boast a very singular function: the ability to slice through 'concepts'. For example, the sword may be pointed at a passing bird and then swung so as to sever the concept of 'flight', causing said bird to plummet unceremoniously to the ground. Similarly, the concept of 'gravity' might be cut so that a target is no longer bound to the Earth. The concept of 'speed' or 'movement' could be cut to render a target immobile. This effect is not permanent, and the duration becomes markedly shorter against other Faeries. Though certainly potent, the sword is incapable of destroying the concept of 'life'.

Limitless Multiplication: Can only be used within Abhoth's Realm. Mr. Black is able to endlessly duplicate his own body, first by two, then four, then eight, and so on. However, each split that is made reduces his overall size in gradually larger increments, until each clone is no larger than an electron in diameter.

Appearance:

Human Form (Pictured): Contrary to his name (and this picture), Mr. Black only dresses in white suits, white ties, and white shoes. Though he is handsome in his own way and just as tall as his sister, he has a habit of holding himself with a perpetual slump and clasping his hands together like a nervous rodent. He holds himself hesitantly apart from Miss White at all times, at once afraid of her presence yet unwilling to stray too far. That he draws his power from human Cowardice and Fear is hardly a surprise.

True Form: In Abhoth's realm he becomes a thing of Fear himself, a ragged and tortured individual covered in gruesome scars, partially skinned and stitched back together, with a face perpetually frozen with a rictus grin. It would seem that his sister's barely controlled desire to bring harm upon him in the human world is not kept in check here, as the wounds are clearly not self-inflicted. He is truly a wretched and pitiable thing, clutching his arms and quivering like a newborn caught out in a blizzard.

Personality: Mr. Black is endlessly cordial and always willing to please, becoming visibly distressed when others display any amount of aggression or displeasure towards his actions. He parrots Miss White in the hope of pleasing her. Talking to him makes it immediately clear that he was never allowed to properly develop a personality of his own, as he will immediately look to his sister for answers or mindlessly recite pleasantries in order to divert the conversation elsewhere. He is, in so many words, an empty shell devoid of individuality.

Biography: Like his sister, Randis was formed when the first human opened its eyes towards the far horizon. Unlike his sister, he saw nothing but beauty in the surreal vista of Arcadia, and was more than pleased to fly through its endless forests and beneath sparkling lakes to peer with delight at all the wonders that his ancestors had created at the dawn of time. But Helena kept her weak-minded sibling on a tight leash, and in time her poison began to infect him in unpleasant ways. He found his eyes being drawn to the ugly things in the world, the blighted horrors that certain disturbed faeries concocted during their nightmares or simply for the sake of variety. Colour faded from his sight until nothing but drabness reigned; his sister had blinded him to all the beauty in the realm except for her perfect face, so that he would follow her without the slightest ounce of hesitation. So it was that he too was banished, and was thusly forced to bear the brunt of Helena's rage towards the Four and her own crushing defeat. Though spineless and frail, Abhoth allowed him to live due to his unusual connection with Miss White. He has played the dutiful toadie ever since, attempting and failing to keep his sister in check so as not to offend others needlessly

Lady Kitsune

#59
Name:  Sorcha McCuinn
Age: Over one hundred years
Race/Symbol: Bean-Sidhe (Banshee) Messenger of the Cup

Weapon/Ability:  As a Bean-sidhe, she is known for her low mournful singing or her keening wail.  Her voice when pitched high, can shatter glass.  Given force, it takes on physical attributes forcing back or stunning her prey.  Should blood appear on your clothing at her touch, it is a sign of ones impending death.

Harbinger Eyes:  This gift is all her own.  With eye an unnatural shade of aquamarine, she can use then to give a gentle compulsion or suggestion to trust her.  It is said that if one was to look into Sorcha’s eyes for too long they can see their Doom.  She cannot see what the other person sees but she does get a sick twist seeing their fear.  She also can see into shadows.  To her, there is no such thing as the dark.

Caochladh: This weapon is a glaive, gilded and bejeweled, its many tines sing through the air and cuts like a claymore.  Said to be a gift from Death himself, she holds this weapon dear.  At times, Sorcha believes it is sentient and it speaks now and then.  It will only return to her hand safely.  To all others, catch it if you dare.

Appearance:  As a human, Sorcha looks to be an average girl of twenty with long dark wavy hair with small features.  She is small in stature, slim and willowy.  Curved and graceful, she is yet average to look upon until one looks at her eyes and are mesmerized.

As a Faerie, she is small and cute but when she grins she has a set of eight sharp canines that she likes to use.  She is a pale blue color, monochrome with her wings, the only contrasting color is her dark hair and her white tattered silks.  She wears gloves on her hand and thigh high boots.

She is not without her true form.  On certain nights, when the veil is thinnest, she converts to her true form even in the human world.  Should this happen, someone is about to die and she keens to the human that there life is at its ends.  She is a beautiful woman with white hair and white skin.  She has ancient markings upon her person and she is wrapped in a violet cloth of spider spun silk.

Her eyes are always aquamarine and she is always smirking, even when she is angry.  She also wears silk gloves which she refuses to remove.

Personality:  Sorcha McCuinn is not without her set of neuroses.  She doesn't like to look people in the eye because they might see their death.  She doesn't like to touch people because of the off chance blood will appear and that would signal their coming death.  She has a beautiful singing voice but she can't sing in public because it might turn into a dirge.  She is surrounded by Death and so what could be a cheerful disposition is colored by sarcasm and attitude.  She wants to be able to interact with others but they tend to be afraid of her.  She spends most of her time in her human or Faerie form so that she is at least approachable but she is easily angered and then her true form bursts forth.  She likes things that are shiny and has a slight impulse control disorder.  She likes to steal.  Happiest when she is thieving, she is playful, otherwise she is somber.

Biography:  A beautiful  and magical butterfly in the land of Arcadia, Sorcha flitted around the lone and darkly handsome figure that trudged through the lands as if all feared him.  She did not.  Was she so young a creature that she did not fear?  Alighting upon the stranger's shoulder, she dared to lick the salt from his skin.  Amused at her daring the man plucked her from his shoulder and studied the butterfly.  Blowing a cold breath upon her, she changed into a woman.  Awed at her new form, she danced merrily about the meadow and sang with a voice so beautiful it was heartbreaking.  When she returned to him, he pulled her into his embrace and in his eyes she saw a great loneliness.  He smiled sadly before he spoke to her.

"Little butterfly, for such a short time you have brought me happiness.  It is rare.  I can grant you this new form and more.  You only have to visit me once a year and warm my bed.  Sadly, there is a great price to pay.  You will forever be Death's companion and cannot turn away from this darkness that I am.  Tell me, you do not fear me, what do you see when you look in my eyes."

Sorcha felt the truth of his words and the heavy burden that weighed them.  As she looked into the vast grey of his eyes, she felt the blood that rushed through her, the feeling of mobility and power and she could not resist such a gift, burden or not.  When she stared for so long with uncertainty into his eyes, she began to see a long tunnel of dark and at it's end, the man before her with open arms.

"I see you.  I will take this form that you give.  I will be your companion," she said with a smile.  He looked startled at her words and then his countenance smoothed over and he smiled grimly.

"So be it, butterfly.  You are now Bean-sidhe.  A maiden of death.  There is time before you will come to me and be at my side forever, for now, learn of the worlds and do not lose that which makes you light."  He pulled her into his arms and in that beautiful meadow, made little Sorcha his.  It was a long evening, and longer night.  When she awoke in the morning, he was not there.  He left her the glaive and a tartan of violet silk.

She spent many long years, alone.  She did learn that her powers were indeed a burden and filled her with much sadness but always she heard Death speak and encourage her not to lose her light.  Eventually she ended up in the court of the Queen, ready to steal the shiny baubles, but the sight of the Queen took her breath away.  Through the shimmer of the great faerie's form, she saw a light bright and warm, and like any moth was drawn to her.  It was as if the faerie provided the warmth she needed to stave off the cold of Death.  As she moved closer, she saw something in the shadows, as the Court went about their business in oblivion.  It stalked the Queen and before it would make it's move, she let loose Caochladh and ripped the head from the darkling creature.  The glaive returned to her hand, dripping ichor.  She turned her eyes to the Queen not knowing what she would think.  Eyes that were strange to look upon and yet beautiful.  Jeweled colored as her own and yet so much more.  It had been the first time she was awed by a powerful being since Death.

The darkling creature was a minion of Abhoth's and it was the first clue that darker times were upon them.  The Queen found Sorcha useful and she proved her loyalty to the Queen over and over again.  To Sorcha, as long as she could stand in the glorious heat of the Queen, then she was happy to bide her time before she would one day be permanently at Death's side.
I am working on it, I swear!

Esoteric Myobi

Name: Acrasia
Race: Faerie Queen - Cup of the Four
Age: Unknown

Abilities:

Truth Beholden - The faerie Queen is able to see through any and all lies, to speak falsely in her presence is basically asking to join in the ring of eternal dance if not exiled altogether. When the Queen hears a lie, her eyes darken and glow menacingly. Upon hearing honesty ringing true through the words, her eyes clear to an icy metallic blue. However, a person is able to speak the truth without disclosing all of the information that they know. In this way, the Queen will know that there is no lie, and yet still find that she is lacking in vital information.

Kiss of Immortality - Possibly the greatest healing ability known of thus far, Acrasia is able to bestow renewed life, health, and vigor to another with a touch of her lips to theirs. By transferring some of her vast and practically limitless magics -- the magics that make up her own life -- she is able to grant another energy drawn from their own adrenaline for a short time, heal another's wounds (using their own lifespan in exchange if the damage is too great), or gift them with a prolonged life. This last option is one that none have been blessed with so far, possibly due to the Queen's disdain for all others as none have convinced her that they are worthy enough to continue living longer than they were due to. Of course, if a person has already passed, then they are out of even her hands having already traveled to the afterworld. A few have noted that when using this ability, her eyes take on differing hues.

Firestarter - Creating fire and manipulating it to her will is a simple task for Acrasia.  Varying from just a small flame to an erupting inferno, there are times when the Queen can be seen idly playing as she juggles small fireballs, or doodles in the air leaving nothing but smoke lingering. Very rarely is the Queen's sword of fire seen, as she only most dire situations. During these times her eyes smolder as if a small fire burns within her irises.

Appearance: Acrasia's most striking feature is that of her eyes. Albeit pupiless and somewhat disorienting to stare into, the Queen's eyes tend to be mercurial as the colors change from time to time. Most often, they are seen as a mere milky white, practically translucent yet holding a sharp gaze that cuts to the core. Soft curls of crimson hair frames her fair porcelain face and coils down her back in sleek rivulets, almost as if it were still slightly damp. The slightest of smiles can always be seen lighting upon her full lips, almost mockingly...sardonically, or some could even say with warm encouragement and understanding.

It is hard to truly describe the Faerie Queen as she seems to appear differently to each person and their current mindset. Some say that she is tall and looming, while others describe her as childishly frail and petite. Those who step carefully whilst in her presence have told tales of her beauty and generosity, so much like that of a heavenly being. Others quaked in fear before her, rambling later on about the terrible monstrosity in their beloved Queen's guise.

Ethereal would be the best word to describe Acrasia, in fact it's hard to look at the Queen for too long for she always seems to be...shifting. Like a staticky picture on the television due to bad reception, the Queen almost seems blurry around the edges, only when the person gazing upon her has settled into a frame of mind does she transfix into a clear and solid form.

Personality: Pale yet vibrant, fiery yet calm, the Queen is an entity made of contradictions. Similar to how a flickering flame can spark into a blazing fire, Acrasia is as fickle as can be. Her whims constantly change, her likes and dislikes never stay the same. At most, she is sporadic, at best, she is erratic.

There are certain things that she holds dear, and these have never changed throughout the time she has held her position within Arcadia. Dear as in herself. As vain as she is caring, as disdainful as she is understanding, but forever full of pride -- the Queen expects both fear and reverence from those around her, no matter how whimsical and uncaring she may seem. Depending on her mood at the moment, the slightest offense can bring her wrath down upon an unfortunate soul. Other times she may be most generous and giving, flattery always helps...though of course all lies, however small, will trigger the beginning of an end.

Biography: Said to have been born from the hottest and purest of flames, Acrasia is a being that is beautiful to behold but calls for caution to be exercised when dealing with her.

Uhm, no copy and paste but I don't doubt the repetition.  I, uh, actually was working on it a couple nights ago and it was much better but, well, I kept erasing it every time I went looking for info...like three times.  I think that trying to work from memory actually blunted my writing.  I'll work on it some more later.  I have to admit I'm not doing well, I think I'm coming down with something.

Thank you Shihong and Myobi.  Apparantly, I need to stop staying up at night, take some nyquil and go to bed early.

I am so scatterbrained.
I am working on it, I swear!

Crovonovin

Get some rest!  It won't do you any good to strain yourself unnecessarily.   ;)

Lady Kitsune

I edited and put in the biography for Sorcha.  I think I was feeling her a bit finally and maybe the biography might make her seem a bit lighter.  I don't want her to be a grim character, just a conflicted one.

So all we need is a few more humans?

I guess a little bumpage couldn't hurt.  ;)
I am working on it, I swear!

Tambit

Hmmm... has The Wand for Marked been taken yet?  I might be willing to create a character sheet for that position...

The Unholy Potato

Regrettably, while I told the complete and total truth in that I was interested in this game, I have decided that I don't think I will have enough time or energy free to devote to it appropriately. This might change (again) later, but for now I withdraw any claim I may have implied to any of the remaining slots.

Myobi, I apologize that I won't be able to join you, and I thank you, once more, for your kind invitation.

The position is still open =) And ideally we would like to have two marked for each symbol so...plenty of space left. Though with four we may very well start.

Thank you again for the invite Myobi! ^^  I really do love what you have put together here. I am thinking things will start clearing up on my end pretty soon, so I would like to join if there are no objections from anyone else?   ::)  I do believe this roleplay will be fun once things start rolling along.

Imogen

Hey guys! I'm hoping to join this game. Currently tinkering with a character concept, which is giving me a lil trouble. Will post her soon (I hope). Aiming for a marked - cups.

Snow Cherry: There are no objections on my part and I'm sure the rest of us would be thrilled to have you as well. (Though having you in which ways would be the real question...ahem...anyway...) Please post up a character profile and when approved your name shall be added to the list. =)

Imogen: Likewise as what I said to Cherry. Hrm, it also looks like I should figure out whether or not the other Cups Marked is around as he had wanted to be a keyholder...On that note I also haven't heard back from Iksander as of yet so that spot may very well be open as well. =/ More to that later on when I know for sure.

Lady Kitsune: Yes! I am finally moving things along (again) and being a persistent nuisance to the poor people I spammed PM'd. Hopefully we'll be able to get a full cast and finally start the game.

Cassiopeia: I know your OCD tendencies all too well. ~.~; But am still patiently waiting and I expect perfection Missy! =P

Cere: Nice to know you're still in the game. =)

Zadaris: Yay, new person! By all means, please post up a character profile and when approved then you may most definitely join in the escapades.

Just an update for those of you applying, so we know who's interested in what and who's still here. I think it's pretty self-explanatory and I'm hoping that we haven't lost Shihong and Iksander. There are a few other players who have expressed interest but aren't on the list since I don't know what role they're trying to fill:

Wow, this is great! Positions are starting to fill up ^^

I am pretty flexible in my taste so... I will take whatever position is left over and fill in the gap.  ;)

I know that is kind of a vague answer for you Myobi, but I will be around. As soon as you find who is accounted for, and Zandaris/The White Emperor puts their stamp on who they are playing, I will find a spot to fill.

Esoteric Myobi

That sounds fine, Cherry. As long as I know that you'll be around. =)

Hrm, though you can certainly take your pick of the Marked since ideally I'd like to get 2 characters per Marked.

*Ailie mutters*  You can't rush art! >.>

PeacethatPowerbrings

Name: Maer (Mae - er)
Age: Unknown
Race/Symbol: Faerie - Pentacle
Weapon/Ability:

Intangiblity: Capable of making hereself completely intangible, she can manipulate this ability to almost any degree. Although mostly considered by observers to be separate powers, the extensions of this ability are phasing through solid matter, and invsibility among others. Most commonly, she uses this ability to remain just out of reach, or avoid harm if attacked.

Becoming Incorporeal and Shape-Changing: The ability to separate herself into consituent elements is something that Maer uses quite often. As an ability, she merely has the power of separating herself into constiuent parts, of which there are far more than are apparent, down to the magical and energy level, and then reconstitute herself in any way she pleases. She can mimic other people, animals, and even furniture, when she feels like it. With her power of intangibility, this power makes her extremely flighty, and she delights in being almost impossible to catch, if not completely impossible.

Appearance:

True Form:Fairly short, even for a faerie, Maer is most commonly seen floating some height off the ground, to engage people at eye level. She is around 5 foot, though, how close is unknown, particularly because she rarely touches the ground. Though best estimates range from 5'1 to 5'3. Her hair and eyes are commonly shifting in colour, but rarely close to anything that might be considered normal, usually in bright colours, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, etc. Her hair is fairly short and seems to be styled different everytime one sees her, ranging from floating upward like a flame, to being pulled straight down over one eye.

Her wings are peculiar, in that they seem to have changed in their form over the years. Now seemingly made of some sort of amber/yellow crystal, they float just behind her, not quite touching her back, but seeming to be part of her nonetheless.

Human Form: Her human form is almost identical to her Faerie form, excepting her pointed ears and wings. Her hair and eyes settle on a partiuclar colour in her human form, though it is still particularly bright, and unusual, which was a problem for her to be covered up, until the invention of extravagant hair-dye. In her human form, her powers are also restricted to the form she's in. She lacks the ability to shapeshift, and although she can still pass through solid matter, and has inhuman speed and agility, using any of her powers constantly drains the amount of power she has, as her magic is linked primarily to Arcadia, and she can only move to the human realm with a limited reserve. Once her power is gone she reverts to her true form, though she lacks any ability to use her powers, or be seen by regular humans.

Personality: Easily amused, but without a taste for consistency. Maer is a trickster, and a teaser. She is also happens to be particularly easy to entertain, willing to accept almost any distraction, relying on her abilities, to evade the traps that tendecy might lead her into. She is young at heart, and has long since forgotten her own age, a fact she is quite happy with, as she is unwilling to consider herself in any sense 'old.'

Biography: Maer cannot remember much of her beginnings, but she knows enough to say that she created herself. She started as nothing more than an idea, tricking her way into existence by fooling the universe, and outrunning the rebalancing of the scales. She has no idea what that process actually entailed, but she knows that the universe simply swung the other way to make up for her existence, and she theorizes that there is something boring and immobile enough somewhere in the universe to make up for her.

Maer passes years without much though, rarely recalling long past events in proper order. However she has a good sense fo the present, and the future, and the recent past. She rarely holds a grudge much beyond a day or so, and as such, she has made enemies and friends with her confused stares resulting from some event they remember, and she has long since dismissed.
I am filled with recollections of lives I have not lived.

Zadaris

Name: Ridley Lestrade
Age: 29
Race/Symbol: Human (Marked) | Wand
Weapon/Ability: Lizoma: Storm Goddess

Arms of Lizoma | Defense Core: Ridley's body becomes engulfed in the protective armor of Lizoma's fierce wind, creating an almost tangible sphere of wind around his body which acts as the eye. The wind is fierce enough to repel most projectiles, the smallest being crushed by the wind pressure while larger items can simply be misdirected. Normal Mode.

Lance of Lizoma | Attack Core: Abondoning his defenses Ridley compresses all the wind sphere into the shape of a lance, used to attack his enemies. The wind oscillates so fast at the tip that it affords him incredible destructive power but at a price of practically no defense. Emergencies only.

Heels of Lizoma | Speed Core: 'He who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day'. By tranferring the condensed wind energy to his legs Ridley can run at speeds much greater than normal, albeit with less traction, and jump fantastic heights. He can also fall equally far and still only suffer negligible damage to his limbs. Escape Tactic.

Appearance:

Personality: The son of a drunken idol and a ruthless businessman Ridley learned at a young age to fend for himself, using his own inherent ruthlessness when necessary. Ridley is a calm and intelligent man, though sometimes blunt and abrasive. Despite usually remaining distant he knows when to accept, or give, aid, always considering partnerships, their unexpected gains and the ability to put his ingenuity to good use, for himself of course, always looking to perfect himself and his work. If he's in a position to improve his position he'll never turn his back on a challenge, never compromising with himself and only looking at the favourable outcomes, not the consequences and always ready to persevere.

Biography: *Work in Progress*

Zadaris, would you like to be a key holder? Or would you rather just be a normal 'Marked'?

On another note: Although some positions may be listed as 'Interested in' some of the players are still deciding between which role they'd like to play most. ^^; So there is a chance of the 'Interested in' spots jumping around a bit until they finally settle down and choose one.

Also, players who feel that they'd be able to handle a secondary character, you're more than welcome to do so. =) It looks like we're running a bit low on villains. x.X;

Imogen

Name: Amy Wilkes
Age: (if applicable) 22
Race/Symbol: marked – cups
Weapon/Ability:

Tranquility:
By changing the timbre of her voice Amy is able to instill calm, patience and a sense of wellbeing into another being. At its highest level this can cause an entranced sleep, from which one wakes up per normal as if from a heavy sleep and leaves no after effects.

Appearance:
Amy is a chubby little thing, standing at 5’4”. She has short, black curly hair and wears glasses. Her usual dress code consists of jeans or shorts, sweater or shirt, depending on the season, and tennis shoes. (mark: a scar on her thigh, left from that time she fell against a barbed wire fence when trying to get away from all too curious cows when crossing a field – she still dislikes cows!)

Personality
Amy claims she does not believe. Not in fate, not in karma, religion, friendship or love. Life is what it is. This outlook has made her more than a bit selfish, and she is prone to think of her own needs before another’s. Secretly, although she’d never admit it, she still has hope. For a better life. For love, children and all those silly things any woman dreams of. She does save up money to buy a lottery ticket every month because, as she says, if hell freezes over, I want to buy a ticket and go see it!

Biography:
Amy is the eldest child of a broken home. From a young age on she has learned to deal with her mother’s drinking habits, her dad’s love for gambling and both parents’ grief against each other.

She has spent a good portion of her childhood taking care of her family, and now, at the age of 22, her siblings have come of an age they too can fend for themselves, and Amy at last dares to think of the fulfillment of her secret dreams: a place of her own, a life.

With the lack of funding for a proper education this life will probably consist of a job at Wall Mart and a one bedroom apartment, but even that would be heaven compared to the hell of living with her family.

Although Amy doesn’t have much experience with boyfriends, she knows what she doesn’t want. She will not settle for anything that might land her in the same situation her parents were in. For that reason, she measures anything a guy does against her parents’ behavior and if there is even a tiny match, she will stay away from that person. And since Amy hasn’t found a saint of said description yet, she is still single.

QuoteZadaris, would you like to be a key holder? Or would you rather just be a normal 'Marked'?

What exactly would being a key holder entail? I know their part of a seal kept upon The Fifth but what does bearing it do to my character; does it determine the path he'll wander down and what side he'll choose or does it mean that the villains will just pursue him a little more fervently, not that I'd mind if that's the case.

Zadaris, it just means you're that much more important to both sides of the game. I'd like to start after everyone who's listed as 'Interested' has posted up their character profiles, so no, the game has not yet begun. I'm thinking that I will try to start it sometime in the beginning of September when I'm finally back in New York since my schedule's been quite random and I've also been having internet issues here (thus the slow responses).

So, we're basically waiting for completed profiles from: Antone, Cassiopeia, AbsyntheAngel, TheWhiteEmperor, and Snow Cherry. Though of course, if we happen to pick up any other interested players along the way and manage to fill up all the spots - that would be ideal. =)

#114

Name: Xavier
Age: Unknown
Race/Symbol: Fae - Wand
Weapon/Ability:

Imagination: Similiar to the Fifth and some of his minions, Xavier draws a certain amount of his power from humanity. But whereas they tend to pull from emotions, he pulls from the mind. The power of human imagination is almost unrivaled by anything else, the human mind able to think up things of amazement. And Xavier has the ability to absorb the smallest idea and use it to better himself (such as from video games, anime, books, and anything else).

The power of Imagination allows Xavier to transform his body in any infinite manner he would desire. He can change his shape completely to another form (ie an animal, or appear as another person), or partially (right arm could become a mega buster like megaman, wings growing from his back, growing teeth, etc).

It's unknown whether there's a limit to his transformations, though what is known is that (so far) he seems only to cause transformations within his own flesh, making this a personal ability only.

Belt of Will: Xavier is a person who always likes to be in control. And with such, he desires complete control of himself more than anything. With that in mind, he created a belt of power that essentially shields his mind from the influences of other fae. This makes it infinitely harder for magic to effect his mind, though it may still effect his body to some degree. But with his mind free, he is usually able to quickly find a way to counteract any physical magic.

Book of Answers: Xavier is often seen carrying around a thick tome with him. Very few are privy to the knowledge that it is more than a dusty tome. The Book is actually an artifact that Xavier has uncovered, something as old as the Four (and the Fifth). Taking hundreds of years, Xavier finally was able to claim mastery over the book. Voicing a question, he is able to open the book and find the answer in the pages within. However, depending on the information desired, a sacrifice of some kind must be made. And while it has since been lost in the sands of time, Xavier had sacrificed countless fae in research of the tome. However, as of yet, none know of this... yet.

Appearance:

Human Form - Xavier takes the guise of a darkly handsome young man, hair and eyes as black as the darkest midnight. His skin is just shy of being too pale, often with a pair of glasses adorning his features. Despite it all, while in this form he almost has what the human's called 'animal magnetism'. Women often notice this more than males.

Fae Form - Xavier's true form has been lost to all, perhaps even himself. The form he takes most often is that of an almost evil looking magician (as the picture), hiding the flesh behind mask and cloak.

Personality: Xavier would probably be the one closest to being like the Fifth. Being somewhat of a control freak, he is aware that power is what you make of it. The strong control and the weak should obey. Because of such thinking, he has worked to ensure he is one of the most powerful of the fae. However, the only thing that really keeps him from crossing the threshold that the Fifth did is knowing what might happen to him if he did. Because of this, he walks a fine line.

Intelligent, calculating, at times almost cold, Xavier is a mind almost unequaled. And because of this, he tends to use his mind more than his emotions. Every once in a while, he is known to be almost friendly, humorous (though somewhat in a smart-assed way).

One oddity about the man is, despite his coldness, he has a deep streak for perversion, rather enjoying the flesh of a female. Often in naughty predictaments, or perverse encounters is he known to be a little more open than other times.

Biography: Its unknown exactly where Xavier appeared from, where he was born, or anything else. What -is- known however is that one day he appeared, holding the book of answers, and already wielded a power of greater magnitude than most could know. And it was shortly thereafter that he attained the position as one of the Four... a position he's held for as long as any could remember.

Naryashadow, I'm assuming that you were applying for Wand Messenger? Unfortunately the spot is reserved at the moment, the only other positions that would be open for 'faeries' would be as a minion. The only other position that is still open would be Marked Wand, or Marked Sword. However, both of these positions are 'humans'.

Just so everyone has a heads up, their is a category four hurricane coming my way. It's projected to hit the area I live in this Friday. if it hits, their is a very good chance that, amongst other things, we'll be without power, indefinitely.  I may be jumping the gun--I have a bad habit of doing that-- but I figured I would give the heads up, just in case bad stuff happens.

#123
Name: Claire Ferris
Age: 24
Race/Symbol: Marked Human - Sword (k)

Weapon: Celestia - Bladed Bow

More or less like this, but longer, more curved, and with a drawstring.

Starlight- Celestia's power enables its wielder to shoot arrows of pure magical energy. Unlike human bows, the drawstring is easily pulled, drawing a shaft of concentrated power. The power eliminates the need for conventional arrows, and possesses the ability to flight in a straight path, only slightly affected by gravity. The destructive power of the 'arrow' depends greatly on the user, and how much energy she chooses to use when drawing the bow. The downsides of the arrow include fatigue with repeated use, due to the fact that it draws on the wielder's energy.

Celestial Grace- The wielder of Celestia is granted a boost to their physical abilities, being slightly more powerful than a regular human would be. Boosted attributes include being more agile, dexterous, and having a better eyesight than usual.

Call of the Stars - Being a unique bow, Celestia chooses its own master, and once manifested, the two are bound together until one is destroyed. Nobody other than the contracted person can use Celestia, and she has the power to materialize and dematerialize the bow at will. However, the bow is rather picky- the user will not be able to call on it when she is overly tired, or if her emotions are too unstable.

Personality: Claire, being confined to the routines of an everyday life, with an everyday job, has a generally unhappy view of the world. She is rather lazy and not really interested in many things; a bored look can usually be seen on her otherwise pretty face. Despite all of her negative attitude, there is still a hope inside of her, something that pushes her to keep going. A small part of her seems to know that something good has to happen eventually- though it seems less likely with each and every day.

Biography: Having been orphaned as a baby, Claire was adopted by a very kind family. They treated her very well, and like their own- she never even had a clue that she was an orphan- much less real parents. Although they hid it very well, Claire could never shake the feeling that she was always a little.. different. Her parents were both extremely gentle, and always wore a smile; this behaviour certainly stuck to the young girl.

Both of her parents had already retired, having made enough money for their lifetime. Claire had a normal childhood; regular school, regular friends, regular dating.

As she grew older, the same life that most people had awaited her. She finished a degree in business, and got a regular day job. Claire was the epitome of an average person, giving her a rather tired outlook on life. Her life's adventure had proven to be rather plain and boring- certainly not as interesting as she hoped. Although she didn't know of its significance yet, there was quite an interesting mark on her lower back.

Esoteric Myobi

Great! Looks like we practically have a full cast almost! Though it seems Shihong will be pulling all the weight over on the villain side...but I'm sure he doesn't mind bringing a few people over to the dark side. =)

Just a few more people and spots left! This means I should get cracking on the game threads...

Name: Insk, the Mouth

Age: Quite old

Race/Symbol: Minion/Cup

Weapon/Ability:

Teeth: Insk is noted for a touch of redcap heritage, possessing the ability to bite through anything of the mortal realms, from brick and mortar to tempered steel. Her metabolism allows her to consume quantities exponentially heavier than the creature herself. She (or rather her stomach) seems immune to the effects of heat, poison, and sharp metal objects.

Tongue: Like the well trained tongue of a wine connessuer, she has a meticulously trained palate. Amongst the applications of this ability, she can recognize the taste of an individual on anything they touch, a proclivity that has earned her the nickname "the Knob Licker".

Additionally, from the sweat or spittle, lapped directly off of a creature, she can gain insight into their secret shame. While nothing specific is gleaned from this sampling, she can discern the nature of their sin. The savory touch of infidelity, the bitterness of a coward, the sweet need of an addict.

Voice: She has the ability to talk to the "lower" creatures. Rodents, flies, roaches, and all manner of vermin serve as both loyal spies and... maginally unpleasant shock troops.

Appearance:

True Form

(Marginally) Human Form

Personality: Insk is a creature of appetites. They both define and empower her. Whether fishing out secrets with her tongue or chewing her way through the door of a panic room, her need to taste and feed drives the fae.

Well known amongst the bogeys and dark things that lurk in the places where children are fearful to tread, she is embodied by appetite. She savors the tingle of terror with equal zeal to the delicate thrills of a blush wine across her tongue. Food, wine, flesh, carnage, the mortal world is her buffet.

Despite being a slave to her vices, she is fiercely intelligent beneath the feral hunger that animates her. What Insk lacks in self control, she makes up for in feral efficiency. She is most easily recognized regardless of her form by her tendancy to always have sweets at hand.

She is noted however for her cordiality and soft spoken demeanor. Insk has been documented as responding favorably to courtesy, sparing the life of a number of mortals simply because they asked politely.

Her loyalty to the Fifth stems not so much from any feelings of fealty, as a simple pragmatism, that no other allegiance would allow her to indulge her needs so freely. As this is the case, she is considered by many of the fae to be little better than a dog, peforming tasks of espionage and murder for occasional table scraps.

Biography:

Born of dreams of gluttony and greed, she is the unmasked face of excess. The darkening of her being served only to further her hedonistic tendancies. It is difficult to place her particular lineage prior to her corruption, but she does seem to have a strange affinity for children. Unlike the bogey's, her interest in children seems tragically honest, though her presence rarely leads to anything but terror on their part.

She has a reputation as one of the more relentless and feral of the minions, and the mention of her name alone has been known to sicken those whose path she has crossed. With no motivation beyond feeding, she lives the life of a wandering hedonist and ne'er-do-well, occasionally called into service by her employer.

AbsyntheAngel

Finally, I'm able to post these. So sorry about the wait, everyone.

Name: Kaisa

Age: (if applicable) Nearly three millenia (but who's counting, anyway?)

Race/Symbol: Faerie: Sword Messenger

Abilities:

Quicksilver: Refers to Kaisa's enhanced speed, stamina and dexterical abilities. She moves incredibly quickly, yet with enough care that one moment she seems to be standing in front of you, the next she is gone, and all you feel is a gentle breeze at her departing.

Mercury's Trickery: Using this ability, Kaisa is able to transmogrify an object into a more advanced and also a more entropic form. It does not change one object into a completely different object; rather it takes the physical properties of an already existing object and reverts, or manipulates them. Her favourite use of this power is her integration of it into martial arts; a simple touch, and an opponent can suddenly feel very heavy as his/her mass is added onto, or perhaps very confused as Kaisa seems to turn into a different person during mid-battle as her hair colour and physical features completely change. This power also gains her much in the way of deception, as she can alter her appearance with ease, and also the physical appearance of anything she touches.

Mercurial Tendencies:    A fighter by nature, Kaisa has had centuries upon centuries to study multiple fighting techniques and marital arts, anything from standard Ju Jitsu, to Capoeria and Krav Maga. Paired with her enhanced speed, Kaisa is able to shift combat styles flawlessly in battle, just by hastily analyzing an opponent's stance and initial strikes. This gives her an advantage, allowing her to select a fighting style effective against her enemy's.

Appearance:

Human Form: Her human form is exotic, a beautiful lady with high cheekbones and an athletic figure. Kaisa always can be found wearing dark hued clothes, anything leather and expensive. Her arms are decorated by full-sleeve tattoos depicting intricate Celtic knot mandalas wrapped around the trunk of a progressively dying cherry tree.

Faery Form: In her faery form, she is astoundingly tall for a fae, residing at six inches in height, with long slightly curling silver hair.
Her skin is nearly black and in the moon's light, glows a soft, ethereal colour akin to what humans view as ice blue, but truthfully is closer to the near-white that paints the sands in tropical beaches. Her wings, as big as Kaisa is are raven hued and wispy in their first layer, constantly falling off and regrowing over top more sturdy feathers. In this form she prefers nakedness to clothing, but around males Kaisa shields herself with her wings.

True Form: Her wings disappear in this form, replaced by a large wing-shaped insignia marked on her torso from her breasts to her lower abdomen. Her ears are elfen, and her eyes become large black orbs, capable of seeing great distances in dark and light as well.  Kaisa often dons sacred fae-spun robes in this form; the violet and pewter material is as viscous as water in appearance but airy and lightweight to the touch and able to be shaped into many different outfits as the situation calls for.

Personality: Strong by nature, confident and self-assured, yet extremely prideful. She detests asking others for assistance and more often that not is seen as aloof and calculating because of it. It doesn't help that she also tends to be very quiet, speaking only when very necessary, and sometimes with a tone of voice that borders on ironic. Kaisa is dedicated, however, and demands justice, passion and goodness from those she associates herself with.

Biography: A fae birthed from desire rather than manifested from will or from the elements. Born to a Seelie noblewoman and protected by the Queen's court, Kaisa nevertheless grew up subtly ostracised by her peers and elders. Her mother, a lower member of the Seelie Prince's harem was not in a position to shield her daughter from all the whispered speak of the gentry and lower fae. Due to this, Kaisa led a very lonely and independent childhood, maturing quickly. An outsider on the inside, she was a good canidate for spywork and subterfuge but knew her destiny lay with a powerful fae she met once as a youngling: Mistress of the Sword the servants had called her, and it wasn't until much later that Kaisa understood why she couldn't look away from the full moon after the night she met her...

+++++

Name: Constance Greene
Age: 25
Race: Human: Marked Pentacle

Weapon: Akahana: A Japanese short sword or wakizashi, one Constance inherited that seems to have special properties....

Everlasting: The blade is tinted a very pale red colour (hence the "aka", or "red" in its name) which seems to give it great resistance to damage and natural physical decline, such as rusting and eventual dulling of the blade. As far as Constance knows, the wakizashi hasn't been serviced for repairs in over a decade (when in truth, it had been even longer than that).

Singularity: The Akahana can only be touched by its current master. Anyone who attempts to unsheathe/wield it can expect to suffer varying degrees of nonlethal electroshock.

Disillusioned: The sword possesses a small stealth field around it which can hide those in close proximity. The ones becoming "invisible" don't disappear; rather, the sword distracts an enemy's mind into forgetting what they were looking for. Unfortunately, this ability isn't powerful enough to hide more than three people at a time.

Appearance:

Personality: Constance looks about seven years younger than her chronological age, and because of this she's developed a bit of a standoffish personality. She's quick to anger when she suspects someone is making fun of her, and is slow to calm down when she gets upset. The personification of a reverse empath, whatever she is feeling tends to radiate and affect those around her. Impulsive, greedy and single-minded describe her most irritating qualities. However, she is quite loyal, strong and cannot stand to let others be disappointed.

Biography: Growing up in a small town where everyone knows everything about their neighbours didn't suit young Constance's need for adventure and discrepancy. After graduating, she left for the biggest city she could afford to live in on a moderate monthly stipend from her dentist father and attended university. It was on a study abroad trip that she met her future husband, a swordmaker who had also been traveling the world to learn more of his craft. The two began dating and married in the span of two years of meeting, and enjoyed a year together before he was murdered while walking home from work one afternoon.

Devastated by the loss, Constance returned home for a short period of time to recuperate, never leaving her family's property, unable to deal with the gossip that ran rampant in every bar and barbershop within twenty miles of her. At age twenty four, widowed yet recovered, she left home for the last time with all her possessions, including a sword her husband had left instructions for her to never part with, and didn't look back. Attending university again at current, she is striving for a degree in criminology and behavioural profiling, motivated by the unusual and grisly death of her husband.

Sorry everyone for this taking so long.  My muse finally returneth, sort of >.>  Apparently she was on vacation drunk, very drunk <.<  I don't have my pic tweaked right yet but it will be up soon, in the mean time here's the basics on my girl -

Name: Ailie

Age: how dare you even ask?! (relatively young ... ish)

Race: Fae

Symbol: Wand - Messenger

Occupation: Forrest Artist - painter of leaves, flowers, and flora alike, using the whole forrest and landscaping of the Fairy World as her canvas.

Abilities:

Inflame - Ailie evokes the power of fire to incite strong emotions in her subject, whether they be enemies or allies, such as  passion and desire, dynamic force, ambitions, creativity, vitality, self-development, growth, and perception.

Creatures of Light - Conjuring a fire Ailie can use other people's perceptions to make them believe they are seeing creatures within the heart of the flame.  Once these onlookers put faith in what they're seeing the creatures are as real as any physical being and able to assist in battle and protection.  If the fire is put out however, or if those beholding the creatures cease to believe the creatures will die.

Eye of the Fire - Ailie can use the gift of flame to hypnotize enemies, or even allies, trapping them in elaborate illusions of her choosing.  So strong is the hypnosis that those who are entranced by it may be moved to physical or emotional action.  Because the power is so strong it takes a great deal of concentration and thus is weaker if she uses it on a number of people at a time.  The hypnosis only lasts as long as Ailie is in close proximity and once she gets a certain distance away the effect will dissipate, leaving her victims dazed and confused.

Personal Abilities - Aillie possesses the ability to charm others, whether drawing them in with her pleasing appearance or her engaging way of speaking she has a way of convincing others to do as she wishes, using her magical gifts as more of a last resort.  Seeing the world from a very different point of view and a unique perspective Ailie's artistic mind sees possibilities everywhere.  This can be a force used for great good or great mischief, depending on her mood.  Agility is also a great strength of hers, though it's not frequently used in painting flora (unless of course she's attempting to reach a particular inconveniently placed leaf), her strength in this area is most often displayed in the hunting of humans.  She can dart about while in flight with ease, nimble and quick, without becoming disoriented.  Flying is actually one of the small pleasures in life she does not take for granted.

Appearance: Ailie is on the slightly taller side for a female fairy and her looks bely her creative and colorful nature.  Her hair is a bright and shiny peony pink, falling in loose waves down her back, perfectly framing and contrasting her fair and almost iridescent skin.  Peaking out from behind the typically tousled waves of pink, her cerulean eyes stand out brilliantly, twinkling with delight whenever she is elated.  Her body has a fluid appearance to it, the ample curves softly rolling into one another, from the curve of her breasts to her narrow waist to her rounded hips leading down to her long toned legs.  Complimenting her figure and overall look is an outfit constructed entirely of what appears to be flower petals, ranging from white to pale lavender.  The design is skirt-like in appearance, covering over her hips and upper thighs with splits along the sides to allow for easy movement.  Her abdomen is exposed, revealing a plane of silky pale flesh, before it is covered once more beginning at the top of her ribcage and forming a large V to cover her chest. (picture reference soon to come)

Personality:  While very much a people person (so to speak) Ailie is actually quite content to spend hours, or days, on end alone and in the solitude of her artistic endeavors.  She communes with the land and visualizes exactly how things should be painted and once the idea is in her head she can't stop until it's finished to her personal high standards of perfection.  Ailie has been known to get so caught up in her work that she's missed important functions or spending time with friends.  It's not that she's careless or inconsiderate, just that her passion is demanding.  Despite her intensive work attitude she's quite fun and easy going when not creating a masterpiece.  Adventure is something she relishes and thrills that make her heart pound are what keeps her feeling alive.  No one would accuse her of being cruel as much as highly focused on the mischief and chaos she's able to cause.  If she can't do it right she doesn't feel it's worth doing, even when it comes to fun and recreation.  She prefers to keep the company of other faeries who are similarly driven, though different in personality.

Biography:  Nothing out of the ordinary forms Ailie's past.  As a young fae she was often misunderstood as she was easily lost in thought, forming pictures in her mind and letting her imagination get the better of her.  Not really caring whether or not she was understood or accepted she began creating and painting.  Unbridled by other's constraints her true talent was able to shine and very soon she was led down the path of a forrest artist, at times even being commissioned by the Queen to paint a certain area of landscape for her own personal enjoyment.  While Ailie is flattered by such attention it scarcely affects the way in which she works, viewing her art as a highly personal and soul-baring thing that she releases for others to enjoy.

Hello everyone,

I'm quite excited since this is the first game I've played on E. I hope it'll be fun! It certainly looks awesome.

Name: Shaun Templar

Age: 23

Race: Marked Human - Wand

Abilities

Illusionist: Thanks to his over fueled imagination Shaun can project images from his mind into the physical world. While these illusions are naught but air and light they certainly look real enough until touched. However, the more realistic and the longer he projects them the more taxing it is on him.

Polymath: Combined with his already formidable knowledge, magic enables him to learn new information at an incredible rate. He need only flick through a tome to absorb and understand all the information within. The same goes for languages which he can pick up with astonishing speed, when he's reading a book, or learning a language he becomes so totally engrossed that he is vulnerable during that time. It takes about ten minutes to absorb a book and twenty to learn an entirely new dialect.

Telekinesis: Extending from his ability to force his mind on to the real world Shaun can influence objects around him moving them with will alone. The further away the object and the harder it is to more the more concentration and effort Shaun has to put in to it,

Appearance: Shaun is a tall pale man, with an almost gaunt complexion. He has longish blond hair kept in a butchered mop. He has startling green eyes and wears glasses. His apparel is often scruffy and ill kept, but smart. He wears dinner jackets and dress trousers far more often than is normal.

Personality: Shaun isn't so much socially awkward, than an intellectual hermit. When he does choose to talk to people his quiet and well mannered. His sense of humour is very dry and sometimes hard to miss. He often keeps people away from him with clever quips and remarks. He has little time for getting to know people, but if he ever does make friends he'll keep them for a lifetime.

Biography: Shaun grew up in a comfortable family setting. He choose to reject most of society in favour of his books, of which he reads many. Unfortunately this distraction also meant that he didn't have much of a drive or purpose in life, and so never succeeded academically as he might have. As such he now works in a second hand book store. Quite content in his quite life, leaving his mind to wander over the books on his shelves

Hey, folks. I understand there's still a couple spots left open in this game, and after chatting with EM for a bit I decided to toss out a CS and see how it sails. I'm looking forward to playing with all you guys.
__________

Name: Trent Barnett
Age: 26
Race/Symbol: Marked Human - Sword
Weapon/Ability: An unnamed, unusually large, black-bladed switchblade knife (See below)

Appearance: Trent is rather tall at 6'1, and a bit on the lanky side with the lean, whipcord build of a runner (or a street rat). He's not really the sort of fellow to spend much time in daylight (or decent company), so he often has a somewhat pale, slightly gaunt complexion. Dark brown eyes sit beneath thick, bushy brows and a shaggy mane of almost black hair that in direct light sometimes shows faint streaks of red. On the inside of his left wrist is a small, dark birthmark in the faint shape of a spade. He's usually seen in faded, tattered denim jeans, an old T-shirt, light running shoes and a heavy leather jacket with so many rips one wonders how it's still stitched together.

Personality: Trent is a pretty relaxed guy, but there are moments when his outwardly serene appearance gives way to a cunning and ruthless nature, and heaven help those who try to order him around. He never graduated high school, but he's spent enough time in public libraries to educate himself well into college-level territory, on myriad subjects. Soft-spoken and congenial, Trent can make friends with just about anyone, but earning the full measure of his trust is next to impossible. Only two people have ever accomplished that, and once the achievement was strictly posthumous. Trent flips back and forth between calm and chaotic, compassionate and cruel so often, he's often wondered if he would qualify as schizophrenic. Given his history, he wouldn't be too surprised.

Biography: Trent was born in a little nowhere town in southern Mississippi, and promptly left in the care of a local Christian-run orphanage. Many of the orphanage's wards were from similar circumstances, and the nuns who ran the place were ferociously strict with their young charges--attempting, they claimed, to ensure that the children would not stray from the path of righteousness as their worthless parents had. That the boy managed to grow up with even an ounce of defiance in his spirit was a miracle (of the Devil, the nuns would often whisper among themselves after hours), but defiant he was. Wherever there was a rule, Trent was bound and determined to see it broken, and his rebellious nature only grew stronger when he felt that someone else was being oppressed. He became something of a hero to many of the other children in the orphanage with his reckless and daring behavior, and a living curse to the staff and faculty. Perhaps that was what made her fall in love with him so deeply.

Mary Ellen Bannister was another child at the orphanage, only a year or two younger than Trent. The daughter of a local prostitute, the nuns were especially strict and judgemental toward the young Mary Ellen. Seeing their abhorrent treatment of her drove Trent to become her unofficial protector, and the day he turned eighteen he snuck her out of the facility, stole one of the janitors' trucks, and the pair ran away to New York together with nothing but a bag of peanuts and the clothes on their backs.

Upon arriving in the Big Apple, the couple began bouncing from homeless shelter to shelter. Trent managed to acquire an old, beat-up guitar from a kind old man he met in one of the city's soup kitchens, and he spent weeks on the street corners, busking for change; it was one of the only times he could remember being grateful for the nuns' insistence on music lessons. The coins he collected in his hat were rarely enough to see them through a day, however, and Trent and Mary Ellen took to small-time grifting to survive. He proved to have a natural talent for deception, one that she sadly lacked. Sadly, it was her propensity for virtue that proved their downfall.

Trent had managed to secure them a cheap, shit-hole apartment, little more than a rented coffin in Hell's Kitchen, and had gone out looking for odd jobs, an easy mark, anything that would bring in a enough for tomorrow's groceries. After a fruitless day of beating the streets, he returned to the apartment to find a man in a dark suit standing beside a sobbing Mary Ellen. An enforcer, working for a small time outfit whose courier Trent had conned out of nearly $1000 the week before. The very same money that had gone to pay for the couple's rent. The man demanded the money back as he brandished  wicked-looking switchblade against Mary Ellen's throat. Trent fell to his knees, begging for mercy, pleading for her safety and promising to return the stolen money, but to no effect. The man with the knife grinned, a thin-lipped, evil smile that seemed to split his face apart, and like the gentle brush stroke of a master painter he dragged the blade across Mary Ellen's throat.

Trent screamed in rage and sorrow as her blood spurted onto his chest in thick, crimson gouts, and he launched himself at her murderer with no thought in mind but revenge. The goon easily side-stepped his clumsy attack and rammed the blade into Trent's chest, piercing his broken heart. As he fell to the floor clutching at the knife, the voice of the building's landlord rumbled outside in the hall, threatening to call the cops. The thug abandoned his knife and ducked out onto the fire escape, leaving Trent for dead.

And dead he most certainly would have been, if the knife had been any ordinary weapon. As Trent writhed on the floor in the pool of Mary Ellen's blood, sparkling glimmers of light danced in front of his eyes. His vision was darkened, there was no sound, and yet he heard as clear as church bells a voice telling him to remove the knife from his heart. His failing eyes fell on Mary Ellen's corpse, and with the last of his strength he jerked the blade out of his chest and passed out.

Almost a day later, he awoke with no more than a dull but fading ache in his chest and a faint, dark scar where the knife had punctured his skin. His mind was clouded, his thoughts hazy, but as he again took in the sight of his love's deathly pallor, a single instinct exploded inside of him. The need for vengeance. For justice. With the knife still in his hand, he fled the gruesome apartment and followed a phantom trail of anguish and bloodlust to a small warehouse on the outskirts of the neighborhood. Stealing a glance inside, he caught sight of no less than five men, seated and standing around a simple card table. Two of them he recognized: the man whose bankroll he'd lifted, and the man who had been tasked with retrieving it. The weasel, and the murderer. Unlike the others, one of the men seated at the table wore a plain white suit. From the demeanor of the other men, he was most likely the boss.

Trent had no idea how he'd known where to come, or why the knife felt so natural in his hand, and at that moment he didn't care. With a speed and a ferocity that he'd never suspected in himself, he rushed inside and slaughtered all five men before they could unholster their pistols. Mere moments later, he stood among the carnage and listened to a voice in his head that wasn't there. The knife, telling him that what he'd done was right, that this scum had deserved no mercy. The knife, telling him that he would have the chance to again bring justice and death to the wicked, if he so chose. The knife, telling him that it had found its rightful master once again.

The Unnamed Blade

Abilities:
The Devil's Courage: Those who dare to meet the Blade's true master in combat will find themselves faced with an opponent of unrivaled ferocity and reckless disregard for his own life. The knife offers powerful protection to its wielder, but that protection comes at a heavy price. Any damage Trent suffers during battle, no matter how grave or severe, will be shrugged off as little more than a scratch; however, when the fight is over, the full debt of his pain will be visited on him and it will take him far more time and effort to heal his wounds than usual.

The Angel's Fidelity: The Blade will never be separated from its rightful owner by any means other than willing surrender. Should the Blade ever be lost or stolen, reality and random chance will bend itself to impossible configurations until it is returned to its master's hand--often precisely when it is needed most. This effect is passive, and is always active.

Atropos' Aim: The Blade can cut through absolutely anything. Anything. In the hands of its master, when fully attuned, the Blade can even slice through the intangible, and is said to be capable of cutting the distance between two points, or cutting thoughts or knowledge from the minds of others like a surgeon removes shrapnel from a wound. Perfect concentration, an intimate knowledge of its target, and an unbreakable will are required to activate this power at its zenith.
You live for the fight when it's all that you've got.

Thanks for the interest, Fizz! It looks like you're rather new to Elliquiy as well so welcome to the forums! Hopefully it's not too overwhelming.

All profiles need to be approved first, but I don't think you have any competitors so there shouldn't be a problem. I'll be looking forward to seeing your completely character sheet then. ^^

I would really really like to join this RP. Everything about it from plot to writing ability looks superb. I am fine with playing anything you have in mind. If you would like to let me know what is needed most, I could draw up a profile or 2 for your approval.  :-)

I wouldn't mind playing the sword messenger. I will write up a profile in the meantime. But if you would rather I fill in a minion spot, I could do that as well. It really doesn't matter.  :-)

Esoteric Myobi

Thanks for the interest!

Pretty in Pink: Looking forward to seeing your profile for Pentacle Marked. =)

Narianna: Hmm, well, we do say that if a player feels able, they are free to dual role if they'd like. So technically you could play the Sword Messenger as well as one of the Minions. However, if you'd prefer to only play one character then I'd say to just choose whichever role you prefer more. ^^

#160

Name: Ariella Corrigan
Age: Slightly younger than mankind
Race/Symbol: Minion
Weapon/Ability:  Ability

Cloak of Shadows – This ability permits the caster to manipulate the shadows around and inside an object.

Shadow Movement – This permits the caster to move objects with the use of shadows.

Summon Shadow Pet – This permits the caster to summon shadow pets. The shadow pets do the caster’s bidding but their actions and reactions are tied closely to the caster’s thoughts and feelings.

Appearance: Ari didn’t always look like her current true form. She used to have dark vibrant and curly purple hair, with ringlets that bounced when she laughed. Her skin had been a soft pink with a warm glow and her wings are merely a whisper of the fullness of the past. When she cast her magic, a dark purple emblem glowed from the center of her forehead.

Much like her demeanor, her physical attributes have taken a toll in this dark realm. Her wings have depleted, her hair has paled and lost its curl, and her skin has turned an ashen grey. Her forehead is now sealed eternally by a crystal that was smashed into her skull by the Four, trying to temper her magic ability. Her cloak of shadows is no longer so viscous that it can drown, her shadow movement only moves light objects, and she can only call to her presence a single shadow pet.

Personality: Ariella has a “special” personality. She’s a bit quirky and possibly mentally unstable. She’s in her own world most of the time and has a very curious nature.

Biography:  Ari was created from the darkest shadows of Arcadia when the human race was in its infancy. Though she is close, she is not as old as most. She grew up constantly getting in trouble as her curious nature lead her to try many things forbidden to her. Her mental instability was ever present in her as a child and the Four watched her closely as she blossomed into an adult.

One evening Ariella was out playing with her shadows when she came across a small boy near a pond. Ariella drew the shadows up around the boy who shouted in confusion. This made her cock her head curiously and she lifted the boy from the ground, holding him mid-air with her shadows. She moved in closer as the black mist material engulfed the boy and she watched intently as her shadows entered every open orifice on the boy. The boy choked and spurted as the shadows entered his lungs but Ariella just watched on. After awhile, the boy ceased moving, and her intrigue died. She left the hollow shell laying near the pond, neatly groomed, the orifices rimmed in black. Little did Ari know – or care – that the boy had meant something great to one of the Four. That One was so outraged that they attacked Ari with all out ferocity, bashing her skull with a stone, and banishing her forever to the Fifth’s dimension. Ariella fought but it was no use. She wasn’t as strong as one of the Four. But as she fell, she ripped a necklace from the neck of the One that banished her.

Intriguiging profile Nari, well done! If even minions are this powerful then Joel had better get protection...I don't think a keyfob torch would keep the shadows away...nope...unless nuclear powered! :o

Well, my character is still sitting in the coffee shop, I suppose. I don't really know what else to do right now, except wait and see where everyone else goes. Unless someone thinks I should, or would like me to, rewrite my last post or create a new one to stir up some more action. Have we heard from Shihong lately, does anyone know if he's ok?

Esoteric Myobi

Unfortunately, I haven't heard from Shihong in a while. I'm assuming he's still busy.

On the other hand, I also haven't heard back from a few other players. Seeing as how I have terrible luck with recruiting, and how it's going to be very difficult to pull off the game with our current cast of "active" participants, I'm afraid that I'm going to be putting this game on hold. I may try to revive and recruit again sometime in the future, but for now all I can say is:

Thank you everyone for participating thus far, your posts have all been wonderful and I'd hate for this to be the last time I read them. Perhaps we'll be able to pick this up again in the future and resume the game. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy E elsewhere!
