America is far more likely to turn to fascism (a revolution from the Right) than it is to socialism or Marxism (revolution from the Left).  Which is why I've been in the process of transferring my financial life outside the US.  The process will take two or three more years.  By the time things fall apart here, I'll be gone.

Not fascism.. religious (ie.. Christian) extremist government.

There's been some argument that he's been withholding tax returns until the last possible moment for a gotcha effect. I'm doubting that - I don't think he'd get any benefit from showing a 14% tax rate on a multi-million dollar rentier income when most Americans doing actual work pay more than that.

Perhaps he his hiding his tax returns because he did not tithe 10% to the Mormons and doesn't want to be thrown out of the church and go to hell.

At first blush, I can understand someone reaching that conclusion.  But you have to keep in mind the people who hold the throttle are atheists: the Forbes 400 and Bilderbergs.  There will be no theocracy in America.  Lip service paid to Jesus, God, the Bible, whatever is necessary to motivate the right fringe of lumpenproles, yes.  But the only god worshiped will be the dollar.  Those not wanting to go along with that will be purged.

Then you're not paying attention to how those folks are running it. A lot of the social conservatives that are in power ARE pushing for more godly rule. The backers are riding a tiger and it will buck them.

Or the tiger will try.  The Forbes 400 and Bilderbergs have the gold and the guns.  So I don't think the Christian fringe will get too far.  Most likely, the rank and file of the "tiger" will be swayed by the corporate media, and the outer fringe eliminated.

The problem with Rommney is that he has all the charisma of a block off wood, and maybe he actually is a Disney animatronic design to be a real puppet President, with the economy still in such bad shape so he should have the election wrapped up already but so many can't see themselves for an number of reasons; he's not conservative enough, he not in bed with big business he is big business, if you don't argee with his policies just wait five minutes.... etc and then of course there is the GOP.

Now the problem with the GOP is thier continued lurch to the right. Canvas the GOP about who the greatest Republican President was and and there will be alot of votes Ronald Reagan. Here's a politician who when he ran, had absolutely no chance of getting the GOP nomination because he was far too conversative to win the general election. But today if anyone ran on the same platform as Reagan did they'd be kicked out of the GOP for being a socialist. There was a "joke" I read a while ago : 'The reason the Tea Party hates Al-qaeda has nothing to do with freedom or terrorism, it's just professional jealously' each step to the right the GOP takes the less of a joke it becomes.

What I find funny is how selective the memory of some folks is about the 'Gipper'. I had one guy tell me that Reagan would support Romney all the way and that the tax breaks were in with his style. I pointed out her increased capital gains, estate taxes and such like eight times while he was in his first term and it was like I had peed on his shoes!  Revisionist history is really big with the tea party.

Willard Mitt Romney is a clown who will say anything he thinks he needs to in order to try to win election.

Now I realize that can be said about any politician ever, but Willard does it so obviously and desperately, he should really be ashamed of himself.

I was kind of creeped out by his presser on the death of Americans in Libya.  Watch it with the sound off, and you'll probably see what I mean starting at about 1:08 and getting worse from then.

It's been all over the news feeds that he was smiling an awful lot during that press conference. >.<

He's not happy about the deaths.. really. He's simply enjoying his moment to put his thumb in the president's eye for not putting leash on every single member of the diplomatics corp.

He's leaving a bad smell behind with his attitude of blaming the victims.  Has he offered sincere condolences to anyone or apologies for his lies?

No matter what he's enjoying, it's certainly not the mark of a good diplomat to be expressing it during a press conference about a tragedy.  If he is elected President, there are going to be times when he has to speak to other world leaders with an appropriate 'national' demeanor, regardless of his personal feelings on an issue/event.

Nixon smile, anyone?

Having looked up pictures of Nixon's smile (he's just a scootch before my time), I can see a distinct difference.  Also, Nixon was very capable of being serious when the situation called for it.  ( http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/youtubeclip.php?clipid=4161&admin=37 )  Romney's mouth shows an attempt to suppress in its asymmetry, but an ultimate failure to do so.

Yeah.. I'm surprised the 'wranglers' didn't talk to him about that.

Okay...  I had a few minutes and went looking for what I saw yesterday and found this.

The first few sentences tell me what I wanted to know.

QuoteFAIRFAX, Va. -- One day after criticizing President Obama in the hours following the announcement of the deaths of four U.S. diplomats, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney softened his tone on Thursday, and focused on grieving.

"I know that we've had heavy hearts across America today, and I want you to know things are going to get a lot better. But I also recognize that we're in mourning. We've lost four of our diplomats across the world. We're thinking about their families and those that they've left behind," Romney said, at the beginning of a rally with roughly 2,700 supporters here in Northern Virginia.

He did express sympathy for those killed and condolences to the families but only after the campaign tactic of blaming his opponent and the victims for the deaths.

He still looks for ways to kick the president while seeming penitent about his smirk at the prior comments he made.

He's an oppourtunitist tool among a bunch of them. I swear I look at him and wonder.. where was the moderate I liked nearly a decade ago who supported abortion under the current conditions, was looking into instituting health care reform in the state of Massachusetts. What I see on TV is NOTHING of the man I saw in 02. He's sold everything he was to be the man they choose for president. I wonder if he realizes it.

He was an amazing man, Callie.  You should put up a thread with this information in case anyone else played EVE.  They may not see it here and if they've been out of the game may not get the info.

Considering the GOP's theme seems to be victim blaming currently (rape victim abortion debate), I am not really surprised by this.

It's clear that Romney was loving every minute of getting a hit in on Obama and the WH. It's unprofessional and insensitive and shows his true mettle, or lack thereof. I don't see any parallels between Romney and Reagan in that interview. In fact, I see Obama and Reagan having more in common in their response to terrorism which was grave, dignified and let the American people know that the perpetrators would be brought to justice. That is the sort of president I want, not some bumbling fool who can't string two sentences together or some grinning idiot who chooses to use a national tragedy as his personal photo opp. I guess it's clear how I'm voting.

Willard Romney is the same bully he was in high school when one of his classmates came back from summer break with long hair, and Willard got his friends to force him down while Romney forcibly cut his hair. Yes that happened a long time ago, but just look at how he acts today.

He thinks he is owed the presidency, that it is 'his time'. Hopefully enough people will get together and show him how wrong he is, that there is no such thing as birthright.
