May The Fourth Be With You!

Hello! So we had this idea...
It's a Star Wars RP, set approximately 5 years after Order 66 is given. The Jedi are now an endangered species, and it's well known that any that try to help them are hunted down and exterminated by the newly formed Galactic Empire.

Our story would focus on a single ship, smugglers/pirates. They have no real love for the Empire, or the new laws its put into place. The crew would be 4-6 people (never more, never less), and it could be a rotating crew. Like.. if someone loses interest, we just say they decided to take another job. And then we have to hire someone else (recruit someone else into the RP). We would also want a balance between males and females. Now you can play anything, you can have any role on this ship. It's a ship just a tad bigger than the Millenium Falcon. Positions probably wouldn't go terribly further than engineer/mechanic, co-pilot, second in command. The only positions that are taken is the Captain and the Jedi.

Oh yeah, the Jedi.

Well part of this story will be how a Jedi is hiding amongst this little crew. She'll want to blend in, keep her status a secret. She just wants to be a member of the crew. And of course having a Jedi on board will bring about problems. What if the Empire finds out and suddenly the little band becomes public enemies number 1? What if one of the crew decides to turn in the Jedi for a nice bounty? What if some of them don't trust the Jedi, since by now the smear campaign against them would be in full swing and all.
But please, don't think this is all about the Jedi. Far from it. I want the Jedi character to be just a member of the crew. Not the star of the RP, by any means. The stars will be the whole crew. I just think playing a Jedi in this setting sounds fun. And also.. there should be just one Jedi on the crew. To make sure it stays interesting.

Now we were throwing around ideas for the crew.. a reformed Clone Commando came to mind, maybe he quit after Order 66. Any number of aliens. I mean see what you can come up with. In my own lil head, I see this as more of a Star Wars/Firefly thing. That sort of comradry/familial setting.

Please keep in mind this is JUST an interest check. We want to see who we get to respond. Also keep in mind we really want this to be long term, so we want a commitment. We want this to be an ongoing story. I mean it's set in the Star Wars universe, there's millions of things to do! And please.. don't take offense to this.. but we will be picky about who we have in the RP. Once you would, for example, fill out a CS, we would look it over and look at your history. Again, we're gonna be a bit picky with this. We love this idea, and it needs to happen a certain way for us. If you're a good story teller that's reliable.. hell you can probably be in!

So, does this pique your interest at all?

The definition of a hero, at least in my mind, is someone who can protect what is right. To change and stop the wrong. To fight against the forces that seek to destroy you. And, at the very least ... live life well, and enjoy it with those you love.

Any chance this might use the Star Wars SAGA system? In that case I'd be extremely interested ;D

I'd definately consider myself interested. Always have a few concepts floating around for Star Wars, and what ship couldn't use a twi'lek mechanic with a useless pit droid sidekick to keep it together? Have you SEEN how much a good Astromech droid costs? Yeesh!

If I'm needed to post somewhere, PLEASE PM me about it. Sometimes I lose track of threads and need to be reminded about things.

ManofDawnLight

I'm interested, but other than the movies and a little of clone wars...and the two PS3 games, I don't know all that much about the Lucas universe.  But I bet I can fake it.  Playing a mostly robot cyborg would be interesting.
Short stories for now.  Light posts.

I am returning slowly.

Hmm... I have a character from a d20 Star Wars game that I could adapt for this setting. She was a traveling representative/negotiator for the entertainer guild with good skills in diplomacy, business, and alien cultures, not to mention some limited piloting skills she picked up during her adventures. Plus she spoke several alien languages. Tweeking her background to fit the setting should be easy, as the game was set just before Phantom Menace. A good negotiator with a wide array of language skills could be helpful to the crew during business negotiations.

Color me interested.

Thank you for your interest! But this will actually after episode 3 and before episode 4. About 5 years after revenge of the sith

Yes. I know. You said that. I would have to age her a bit and come up with a bit of background story to fill a few years, but at least I would already have a foundation to build a character history on, and some "feel" for the character. Better than coming up with something from scratch.

I might be interested :o

Though I was thinking of attempting a Star Wars: Saga Edition game on here... but... that might be a ways off anyway xD

Would there be room for a Mandalorian?

Perhaps a former bounty hunter who recently got stung in the ass by the Empire after doing a job for them. Like, perhaps it was some top secret job, and they wanted to clean up loose ends (ie. my character.)

I have another Mandalorian, Nealla Varr in an rp set during the Old Republic, I might have this be like... her... great-great-great-great-great-great (etc.) granddaughter xD

She'd probably fight primarily with an antique vibroblade and a pair of heavy blaster pistols or something. Some gadgets on her armor as well, flamethrower, a jetpack, etc.
O/O: I was going to make a barebones F-list as a rough summary, but then it logged me out and I lost my progress, so I made a VERY barebones F-list instead: Here.

what section would this go into?

I haven't narrowed it down.. I'm really bad with the sections and what goes where and what people expect. So let me tell you my intentions.
As with all of the RP's I participate in, I want there to be some romance and love. Not.. the main story, but it's a sidestory. So Sex will be allowed in the RP, but it will never be the main thing. If there comes a situation where slaves come up.. well I mean there is lots of planets where there are slaves, but that's another story line. I hope that makes sense.

I don't see why not. So long as one thing is kept in mind.. the captain of the ship is the captain of the ship. And anyone who isn't down with that will find themselves without a job and without a ship to work on. In my mind, everyone on the crew works for the captain. he pays them a cut of whatever they come across.

Orange Marmalade

Expression potential interest here, though I'm not sure on a concept yet.

It looks like no one has bitten on the ex-Clone Trooper yet, so maybe something along those lines. A reformed clone assassin? Trying to find a more 'normal' life now that doesn't include hunting down people and killing them.

A Mandalorian is a disciplined warrior. That said, they would have trouble following someone they didn't respect. As long as the captain is a good leader, they won't find any disloyalty from my Mando.

My Old Republic era Mandalorian is Nealla Varr; this one might be her descendant, I'm playing around with names. I like the sound of Aila Varr, but its pretty similar to Ayla Secura's first name, so... not sure. I mean, sure, in all the Galaxy there's probably another Luke or Han somewhere too, but still.

Forgive me for sounding foolish on a subject so near and dear to my heart, but what do you mean by 'Legends' canon? Like.. this would be considered an AU? If so, I don't think it entirely would be. I mean we'll never interact with Luke Skywalker or anything, but we are interacting with the Star Wars universe. There's thousands of untold stories from this era, and this could be one of them. Eventually we may have dealings with the newly born organized rebellion, or maybe we'll decide to avoid such things all together.

Sorry, I keep forgetting it's new.  Disney finally announced their canon policy for Star Wars.  Basically the whole G, T,C, and N canon system they used to have is gone.  If you didn't know about all that the G canon was like...movies, T was like the clone wars CGI cartoon, C was like the books and stuff, and N was non-canon.  Basically, they had it laid out to help with contradictions.  Anything that contradicted the movie didn't exist.  And...the higher up it was the more importance it had.

well...Disney's new system is if it's not the movies, the clone wars CGI cartoon, or the new line up of novels that aren't out yet it doesn't exist.  Which screws over RP since like 90% of what people are going to use probably isn't limited to just the movies and the clone wars cgi cartoon.  I get screwed over even since pretty much every character I've ever made can't exist anymore if we use Disney's new canon.
Coming soon...

MaiMizzu

If Disney and Mr. Lucas wants to sue me for not going with their new system, well they can have my PS3. Maybe.

I think we shouldn't go by that. I we used Expanded Universe stuff with the movies stuff, I don't really see how there could be much of a conflict. As I said.. we're one little ship in a big ol galaxy. This is our story, we're going to put in it what we want. If we come to a conflict, or if my council sees a conflict, we'll deal with it in a fair manner.

Or a manner that makes me happy. Whichever.

I was half-way through a reply to explain then when I saw you'd already clarified xD

Though I'm still not entirely clear WHAT they're doing with canon. The actual statement they made was very, very vague, and basically everything else I've heard about it has just been speculation. The actual statement itself wasn't really clear if the EU changes apply just to the post-RotJ EU, or to the entire EU itself.

It did sound like they're working on a single unified canon, though, which to me makes me think that certain aspects of the Pre-RotJ EU are going be decided as either canon or non-canon, though I'm curious if they intend on telling us what is what at any point, or if we'll just have to speculate until something is mentioned in a new canon work.

Personally, until its all cleared up, and if the new canon doesn't suck horribly, I'll be setting any and all Star Wars rps and writings of mine in the Legends canon.

Also, you forgot S canon xD

It was G Canon, T Canon, C canon, S Canon and N Canon.

G = George; aka. movies.
T = Television; aka. Clone Wars.
C =  Continuity; the bulk of the EU canon fit here.
S = Secondary; questionably canon stuff such as older comics and whatnot.
N = Non-Canon; stuff that is definitely and completely non-canon.

There was technically also going to be a separate canon; D-Canon for the Detours series... not sure why... seems like that would fit neatly under N canon to me.

But yes, now there's just going to be Disney's new canon, and the classic EU stuff will go into the new Legends banner.

Yeah, I  forgot S canon.

They left part of it intentionally ambiguous though 'cause they plan on expanding on item at a time.  Like...they're going to add the Bane stuff in but it's not officially in.  Same with the Revan stuff. They mentioned (but they were once again ambigous) about pre-series content too.  Really what they wanted to do was focus on the episode 7 and later so they weren't limited by a bunch of books, video games, RPG's, etc.  So everything afterwards is gone.

Coming soon...

This seems like a great idea.  Basically, the female Jedi is like River Tam.  The Jedi's identity and her abilities are a secret because she is on the run, she becomes part of the family that is the crew, and the crew chooses to help her and protect her.  Great stuff.

I would like to see the crew get into ethical dilemmas that the Jedi has to confront.  For example, the crew could uncover some really bad stuff or meet some really bad people.  Or, the crew gets in over their heads and they need to be saved.  The Jedi would feel compelled to use her training to help.  The crew can then back her up.  Maybe she gets tempted with using the Force for selfish reasons, too.  There could be some Jedi sympathizers in the crew, lamenting the loss of the Jedi, hoping for a... Return of the Jedi.

Maybe the Jedi character is not alone.  She could be traveling with someone like an Antarian Ranger, a non-Force-using traveling companion and support specialist.  Only the Ranger would know the secret, and the Ranger would be in as much danger as the Jedi.

Mai, who exactly is this "we" you are referring to?

Yeeeeeeah that's really a comparison I didn't want to make. Because.. well I saw a meme once about who wants to play what character in a Firefly RP. There's Mal.. and then every other character is River or a variation. When we came up with this idea, the Firefly was more of a reference for me in regards to.. they're a band of scoundrels who occasionally get in over their heads. They're good people on the whole, but not afraid to rob a bank or something if they need to eat. Or fuel. I think most (most) would draw the line at like.. robbing innocent people or assassinations. Bounty hunting could be fun. But the comparison of the Jedi and River.. the only links I would want to make is that they both are not what they seem on the surface. Which might also be said for almost everyone. However, the group in power (the Alliance and the Empire) are both hunting for them. While the Alliance knew of River and wanted her, the Empire doesn't know of our Jedi specifically. They know there are still Jedi out there, so she is part of a much larger scale hunt.

My partner and pal Apygoos is playing the Captain. And he's my council on most things, period. He's a good egg. He doesn't wanna be co-GM, so I'm taking on the reins on that one. But we have an open line of communication.

Just throwing this out there, though. My Mandalorian is totally Jayne. Just. Female.

I imagine she has this big stash of weapons in her quarters, probably named her favorite guns. Probably has a fair amount of grenades stashed away at any given time too.

So, here's the real question then...

Who's Inara?
