Now that the official version has been rolled out, I'm wondering if there is anyone out there who wants to play and someone who might be willing to DM? I would love to start out at 1st lvl, but if people agree they want a higher starting level I would be ok with that. Some sexual content would be great but not necessary, either.

Any takers?

Ooh, I'm interested. I've been itching to try out the new system! Unfortunately a new work place is keeping me busy so I can't volounteer to DM, but I would be very excited to join as a player!
I don't have a preference for levels yet, so whatever the DM says is ok for me.

I'd like to try out this shiny new thing. Clerics are what I usually play, though if I get my hands on a PHB I'll be interested to see what paladins look like.

I have a setting I have been building and have been itching to run some stuff through it as a test run (mostly just making PCs explore all the cool places I'm sticking in it) and I have been thinking about using Next as the system to do that, but I can't guarantee I have the time to work out the system well enough to actually DM, in particular unless there is a bestiary somewhere I missed I don't think I'd know how to create any complex encounters.

The Starter Set includes "a 64-page adventure book with everything the Dungeon Master needs to get started." It looks like it's released tomorrow and is $13 on Amazon. In my experience with D&D boxes, they usually describe some kind of generic town, a simple dungeon-based adventure, and a small selection of monsters.

I'll get my hands on that pretty soon then and it should be enough for me to work with.

It's kind of a mess at the moment but I have a map for the setting:

And another one with some basic kingdoms and stuff marked out:

Please don't judge me, I wasn't expecting to pull any of this out yet :-[
I was considering making my own post about playing this with D&D next soon though, so I'm willing to try.

I'd be changing up a lot of the races too, generally I find a lot of races to be too much like reskinned humans so elves will be much more fairy like, things like that. I'd also be trying to have a reason for characters having magic, clerics and paladins would be common but outside of magical races mages and wizards would be a lot less common.

Teo Torriatte

No judging here. I think it would be awesome if you would be willing to run something in the world you are working on.

JohnTheGreat

Alright great, ideally I'd want about 4 players who can post more than two lines and more than once a week.

I'll have to detail the races a little more tomorrow but for the playable ones the important things are elves are less a race and more half fae, with 'half elves' being elves coming from diluted bloodlines that are now much more human than fae. Dwarves have a lot of Roman influences and are a lot less 'lol beer'.

I'd like to chat with people about character concepts before throwing any up so pm me with those, characters with little knowledge of the word would be great since most of that knowledge doesn't exist yet.

Teo Torriatte

Okies.  :-) I need some sleep, but I'll think of a concept or two and PM you later today.

I'm always up for some D&D fun, and usually go with Casters.  I have no access to Next... yet, but give me time, and hopefully I can find it soon.  If not, I'll bow back out.

Definitely interested.

Seems like we have people interested in a Cleric and a Wizard.  Maybe I'll try for a Fighter daughter of a blacksmith as a Folk Hero who stepped up when skeletons and zombies attacked her village?
It's all good, and it's all in fun.  Now get in the pit and try to love someone.

The PHB isn't out for like six weeks, but there's a free ~100 page document with enough to make vanilla build characters of the four major races and classes!

And maybe I'll round things out with a Rogue type? I'll send out a PM.

JohnTheGreat

So far I have 3 PMs about characters, I am calling the absolute hard cap 6 players so if you want in message me.

We have a mage, rouge and warrior fwi.

Muse

Um....

Am I on that list?

I haven't sent a concept yet because I was waiting to hear more about your setting?  Especialy the variant races?
