I am looking at running a Narutod20 game, with some houserules to make it less... clunky.  It is a d20Modern base after all; there is a lot that can be done to improve it, and to do so I am considering drawing from Pathfinder stuff.

The basics though would be:

A three-man Chuunin team in Konoha (or possibly another village, but assume Konoha for now) that JUST became Chuunin.  ECL8 with no more than 2LAs.  Clans/Bloodlines/Etc would be allowed but not willy-nilly so it'd have to be a good idea.  I would prefer female and MtF/Futa characters, but I am not opposed to Males at all if the idea is good.  It'd be probably NC-Exotic, and while there would be plot there'd be a healthy amount of sexuality in play as well. There would be houserules I'd explain to make things less clunky as mentioned before as well, such as reducing/combining a number of skills and making jutsu-acquisition a little better/easier...

The specifics I'm still working out, but I'm curious if anyone would even be interested in playing with this setting and system in the first place.

So... anyone interested?  Feel free to bring up Ideas to offer or character ideas;I thoroughly encourage all sorts of interesting things!

TheFourthShade

Consider me interested if not specifically having an idea or any ideas to help yet.

EvilMegaCookie

Definitely interested.

For the MtF characters or characters in general, perhaps a measuring day would be a nice fanservice scene? :P I have a few ideas cooking in my head already. Haha.

ShadowFox89

As already noted, interested and you've got my basic concept.

I am very much interested in playing one of these games instead of DMing them. :P

World/Setting Update!

I'm thinking of handling the game as a post-Epilogue game; Seventh Hokage is reigning, world ending crisis has been avoided, and business continues mostly as normal. The Big 5 Countries and their villages are at face-value in good relations after the last Shinobi War, and Village operations usually take place in-country, against neutral threats (aka. not allied to one of the Big 5), or in neutral countries.  Missions into a neighboring member of the 'Big 5' typically require cooperative action, and while it is possible to encounter other shinobi while on a mission, it's typically understood that 'minimal necessary force' is the name of the game if worst comes to worst.

That is on the surface however; even among close allies such as Wind and Fire countries, espionage and black operations still take place, with the threat of Mutually Assured Destruction with the existing relations between them.  With regards to other villages this  is not necessarily the case; many are more isolated, unconnected, or simply do not have the same economic, military, or political power to matter in comparison.  Additionally, the alliance is at the will of the Kage's first and foremost, and it is not necessarily a view their people share in the same way; as always there are always multiple elements in play...

Technology has advanced some, but nowhere close to modern, and largely technological progression is the realm of the Big 5 and select few larger cities therein and elsewhere.  No there are no firearms, nor will there be for the game.  Communications and basic living have shown the most progression in technologies, with militaries showing the least given the reliance on chakra and jutsu.  As such, as far as the Shinobi are concerned, not a terrible lot has changed, simply less obvious hostility between the larger nations and their villages...

What this means is that there are a lot of options based on party composition for where the game goes, but it's safe to say you'll be traveling about a lot.  Opportunities for espionage and actual 'real ninja' work will be present in addition to the more mercenary work of the ninja of the Naruto world. Also means lots of opportunities for foes, challenges and enemies, not necessarily all of which are going to be fellow shinobi...

Just wanted to update as to where I'm going... what do you all think, those who are interested?

 Character Concept

Ume Katya

Ume is an unfortunate result of Orochimaru's experimentations, as evident by the cat ears and tail that she bears. As an infant, she was taken in by an ancient clan of spirit exterminators. Raised, trained, and then sent to Konohagakure to gain experience as a ninja, Ume is as a result a rather quiet and introverted girl. She favors a combination of katon and kenjutsu, supplemented by demon extermination techniques when the situation requires.

I am still interested, and I think after two more of my *favorite* shifts, I'll have a better idea of which character idea of the three I have I'll be using.

Ume is tall and lithe, around 6'2, with dark red hairk, dark enough that the closer to her scalp the blacker her hair looks, reaching her chest. Her ample chest is concealed by cloth wrapped around, making her breasts seem smaller than they actually are. This is concealed by a loose fitting long sleeve black shirt. While on the job, Ume wears armor under her shirt that makes her chest seem even smaller. She tends to wear a black knee length skirt when not working, her feet covered lightly by sandals. When on a mission for the Village, she instead wears black pants and boots. When Ume is blacksmithing, she instead wears a heavy leather apron, thick leather jacket, and blue jeans. All this clothing conceals a well toned and muscular frame, strength that comes from a lifetime of working a forge and training. What sets Ume apart from most is the pair of triangular ears that stick out the top of her head, her yellow slitted eyes, and the long tail that pokes out from just above the cheeks of her round, firm butt.

At the moment thinking a battlewire expert with maybe Fuinjutsu as a backup.

Appearance I need to finish this too later.
Iku is a tan skinned young woman who is slight of form and small in stature.  Some are amazed that she can draw her daikyuu, let alone fire it with such grace.  She wears her long dark hair back in a simple ponytail.  Her eyes are a deep and dark green that seem to stare into the soul, but they are often covered by a silk veil.

Background (WARNING: NEEDS TO BE EDITED BASED ON THE SQUAD/BOSS, IS A LITTLE BIT GENERIC)

Iku was sick as a child with a tired body and eyes that could not bear the light   , and it was not a good experience to have to move from a settlement in the desert near the Village Hidden in the Sand to the Village Hidden in the Leaves.  Even without the glaring sun and the whipping winds, she still felt tired and her eyes always did hurt.  Of course, it was there that the matter came attention to a local medical nin and a solution was discovered.

Of course, soon after, Iku was also brought to the attention of the local Academy.  A playful sort, to be certain, she made a fair share of friends among the youths but was often chastised for not taking her lessons seriously.  With no family tradition to uphold or ancestors to please in the Ninja arts, it was easy for her to take things a little less than seriously.  Her parents would discipline her, but she considered herself the wind that blew free.  Needless to say, she was bound for disaster.

She found it around age eleven when she was dared to pull a prank on a particular Jounin as a celebration of her graduation.  He was quite a fearsome looking soul, with enough scars to have served in a war and enough weapons to fight one.

She tracked him down and pulled the old water balloon barrage trick on him.  She expected him to dodge while he knelt before the strange monument.  He took every water balloon and did not move for a second before practically appearing at her location.

He smiled and asked her name, and she told him honestly.

It was a big surprise when she was assigned to the team under the command of Arakawa Masaru and a bigger surprise when she ended up with her face pressed up against that same monument halfway through the Exam to finally become a Genin.

“Every last one of them is more important than you are, you disrespectful whelp, but your teammates are going to carry you through your exam.” He smiled and spoke his oath, “I promise as your future instructor to train you until you are a focused and well trained kunoichi, or until you fall in battle.”

So began some of the hardest training of Iku's life.  On the 'normal' training days, she would train with everyone else as normal with an hour extra afterward of 'special focus' training.  On 'off' days, she would train from sunrise to sunset with Arakawa-sensei in the way of the bow, which he arbitrarily decided she would master.  Every day was grueling and forced her to muster all of her will just to stay on her feet.   In the early days, before he knew that she was going to refuse to give in, he made sure to haze her by having her do all of her training without her veil.

Even with her special training, she was just barely 'adequate' next to her Hyuuga and Inuzuka colleagues.  Still, she learned to use her eyes to ensure that her Hyuuga comrade would not have to waste chakra at trivial points and her markswomanship was nearly peerless.  Masaru had started his brutal training hoping to kill her or make her quit, but now he was renowned for turning a prankster into a genin who might just pass the Chuunin exams.  He never told her once that he was proud or apologized for being brutal to her, but he knew that she might be able to do anything if she put herself into it fully.

She entered the exams with enthusiasm and fought hard.

Her performance was noteworthy enough to see her promoted to Chuunin, after which she was assigned to a new team...

Useful Info for the lazy player
Below, mastery bonuses are recorded because I can't be arsed to remember them

- Second Step (Proficiency): The second step of mastery requires 1 success. The character gains a +2 bonus to meet the Perform requirements. The character also gains a +1 bonus to saves against the technique if he identifies it beforehand. The character's effective level when performing the technique increases by 1.
- Third Step (Advanced Proficiency): The third step of mastery requires 1 success. The character gains a +3 bonus to meet the Perform requirements. The character also gains a +2 bonus to saves against the technique if he identifies it beforehand. The character's effective level when performing the technique increases by 2.
- Fourth Step (Specialization): The fourth step of mastery requires 2 successes. The character gains a +4 bonus to meet the Perform requirements. The character also gains a +2 bonus to saves against the technique, if identified. The character's effective level when performing the technique increases by 3.

The character also gains a +3 bonus to saves against the technique, if identified. The character's effective level when performing the technique increases by 5.

Strength and Speed Rank Effects are down here

– Strength Rank 1 (Ex): The character gains a +1 bonus to attack and weapon damage rolls (if he is able to apply his Strength modifier to damage for that weapon—for example, to a katana or shuriken attack, but not a throwing needle).
When not suppressed or dormant, strength rank 1 costs 1 points of chakra every 5 rounds. Whether active or dormant, strength rank 1 increases the character's effective Strength score to determine his carrying capacity by +1.
– Strength Rank 2 (Ex): The character gains a +1 bonus to attack and weapon damage rolls, and a +2 bonus to opposed disarm, trip, grapple, bullrush or overrun checks, strength checks and Break, Climb, Jump and Swim checks. His carrying capacity increases by one-half (round down). In addition, a character with Strength Rank 2 ignores hardness from objects with 2 or less hardness.
When not suppressed or dormant, strength rank 2 costs 2 points of chakra every 5 rounds. Whether active or dormant, strength rank 2 increases the character's effective Strength score to determine his carrying capacity by +2.
– Strength Rank 3 (Ex): The character gains a +2 bonus to attack and weapon damage rolls, and a +4 bonus to opposed disarm, trip, grapple, bullrush or overrun checks, strength checks and Break, Climb, Jump and Swim checks. For those of you concerned; Chargen has changed a bit.

It's now... 10 techniques at 1st level. 2 Techniques at 2nd. 3 techniques at 3rd. And so on and so forth. For an eighth level character, that's 45 techniques of any time.
Furthermore, any type of Adept feat (Ninjutsu Adept, Taijutsu Adept, ect.) grants you a number of techniques for that skill equal to your character level.

You can sacrifice a technique in order to get two steps of mastery.

TheFourthShade

One technique at first level.

The person above me made a typo that's easy to miss, and I don't think they're online to fix it.

Hexed

Here's what I have so far, going to be gone a good chunk of the day so I'll add in more fluff information when i get back.

I've been having quite the trouble figuring out the by lvl stuff, specifically figuring out the wealth by level or total wealth at lvl 8. It's probably just me missing some chart or something but it has been stumping me. :(

Question: Is there a site or something I can use to see what those feats do? I really need to get used to the character sheet thing. :P

But here is my concept: My character belongs to a family that has specialized in the art of seduction and virility/fertility, using their natural beauty and ability to manipulate pheromones to infiltrate villages or secure their own bloodline via entering pacts or marriages with other families.

So basically my character would be focused around my #1 fetish: Pregnancy. >.< And would the pheromone ability be possible? Of course, it wouldn't be powerful right away but it could perhaps make my charisma (if I understand this correctly) gain some form of boosts as well as being able to have a fairly high success rate at seduction or anything sexual.

Basically a ninja specialized in diplomacy and honeytraps. :P

Actually in Naruto universe there is clan who specializes on 'seduction-no-jutsu' stuff. Not sure where I heard the info but they were based on land of water (the clan anyways). Or this is mere rumor or fanfiction but there was not much details about them when it came up (besides them being skilled water element users who use water for entertainment purposes). A sort 'geisha clan' or so.

Anycase no doubt in shinobi world there can be clans who specialize to be honeytraps or simply seduce a shinobi heir, bed them and then run off with the genetic material stolen from another clan and give birth a child who has the clan secrets in his/her blood. Example many bloodline limits (kenkei genkai) are genetic inherited and many clans pay large sums of money for heirs with those abilities to either research or raise said heir as their secret weapon.

That is basically the idea I had in mind. Not to mention that bloodlines that wants to persevere their own will want someone from her family to marry so as to ensure a child. So it goes a bit of both ways and a feature of this family is that is has quite a few Kekkei Genkai users. Or something like that.

And that sounds interesting. Besides, water and earth are my preferred element either way. :P

Wolfy

I want to join into this like, badly, but...

I don't know how to make a character. xD

And

I kind of want my character to be able to use Sage Techniques (Though not necessarily be a sage) or Bloodline...

Can help you in char gen; any specific bloodline in mind :).

Indeed; fertility techniques/drug treatments done to their shinobi would make them much wanted for bloodline preservations. Overall advanced genetics where whole point of clan is to easily steal or absorbs and continue on bloodlines. But besides that they could be kick ass entertainers/geisha sorts (not whores but more courtesans for the daimyos courts or overall media in theaters and events with music, dancing and singing etc). Genjutus may be perhaps favored art and perhaps key one which many of clan members need master (genjutus is keyed to charisma and genjutsu helps seduce targets or enchance performances with illusions).

Not sure was my info canon but I hope it at least inspires your char and make custom clan :).

Wolfy

Well I don't know if I can have a bloodline AND Sage techniques..

But from what I've read so far I like the Reikyou or Hyuuma (Hyouton Techniques) bloodlines....

Zaer Darkwail

Sage techniques depend do you have sage class levels I think but I am not familiar with those at all honestly speaking :P.

Wolfy

I'm still reading over the information myself...I would like to know if Keelan would allow it. xD

Keelan

I have already started a game up with 3 people, but I am considering starting a second one...

@Wolfy: Hyouton (Ice techniques) would be acceptable without fail, Sage is probably something you'd have to learn in-game purely based on skill/level limitations vs the Sage Technique requirements.  Luckily IIRC Hyouton doesn't require Level Adjustment to use, so little complication...

@Hexed: Neat!  Wire-mistress!  Looks pretty good honestly, you need rules help though?

@EvilMegaCookie: Interesting... this is not impossible, not in the least... seems like getting some things into the rules might be a test, but we'll see.  I understand you might need some help with char-gen and whatnot though?

@ZaerDarkwail: Figured you'd be interested in this ^_^  If you're willing to assist with char-gen for the others I'd be much appreciated ^_^
