Genre: Although, it may be self evidet, this is an RP that revolves around the underground street-racing scene. At least half of the Playing characters will be drivers, the other half will be mechanics, love interests, enthusiasts, etc. There will be racing in this game, but it will be done efficiently. And, it won't be one race after another, the speed will come in even intervals. Expect constant explorations of love & sex, and wo/man vs. life drama.

The Setting:
California- 2006

I'm not sure what I want to do, exactly. California has almost everything, mountains, ocean, desert, cities, rural- bum-fuck nowhere, and everything in between. There is a clear dichotomy of my decision no matter where I decide to base the game, finally. In the end, we do have cars, and we can drive anywhere we want. But here's the thing: There are more things to do, more people and more opportunities in the city. On the other hand, there are better tracks to race your car on up north in Mendocino, and Humboldt County. In addition, there is also plenty of business to be done in North California, so being out in the wilderness doesn't make one poor in the world. Also, Shelter Cove. Holy god, look it up if you've never heard of Shelter Cove.

I'm thinking, one team in San Francisco/Oakland, another team in Humboldt county, basing their operations out of Ukiah... Still up for criticism and debate.


Influence: The Fast and the Furious, Gone in 60 Seconds, Need For Speed, Initial D, Drive(r) Redline, the cannonball run, etc. I see no reason to limit our ideas by slicing the entire RP into one style of driving, and one tone. Every character should bring their own background, and technique, so should every player bring his or her own style, and a preferred concept to storywriting

Smut: yes and no. I'd prefer there to be some kind of middle ground, story helps smut and smut helps story. Comedy balances drama, action balances exposition.  We'll aim for light human small groups. But that is subject to change.

Size: depends, I'd imagine that four or five players would be ideal, but if this gathers a lot of interest, we can adjust.

Leading Concept: This RP is drawing together a good deal of interest, so. This will most likely be about two rival street racing gangs. This is the idea: There are a group of white knight characters assembled at the beginning of the RP and a group of black knight characters. Each group is good at heart, but they don't have to be. There's nothing wrong with racing dirty. In every case, no matter how these characters have come together, they identify themselves as (2) group(s), and their life revolves around cars in some way. (car thieves, professorial stunt-drivers, mechanics, smugglers, street pride racers, or any combination of the previous).Aside from being street racers, either gang could also be a small group of gangsters with one or two drivers, the police with some hot shot drivers, and so on. Pull the game together with the 'damsels' in distress PCs, (girls/boys who don't drive, civilians who find themselves caught up in the drama).

My role in this: I will be Gming, as in, I will control every NPC, and design every setting, I will not have a PC. No matter what you all want to do, I will adjust and keep the RP interesting. I can filter requests and keep the experience as natural as possible while still maintaining a focused plot. I insist.




final note: I have an Initial D request in the solo request thread that passed by almost entirely without note. This is almost the same thread. However, I've broadened the concept, and I'm committing myself to the role of GM. That being said, I'm an Initial D freak, no doubt in it.

Congratulations! You've made it to the planning stage. Here, I have a character sheet below that is at your disposal. There is also a sample character sheet underneath that should not be taken seriously, it is for visual reference.

Here's the thing, as GM, I plan on writing the whole story. (This does not mean that players will not be writing in the IC thread. It just means that I'll be posting often, esentially, as God. Except I won't god mode your characters, promise.), and planning the RP so that nobody else has to. I know. I said that in the first post, but it's relevant now, because most of the real discussion will happen through PM's post character sheet completion. Feel free to ask questions prior to this stage. If you aren't sure that you want to invest the time in a character sheet, I understand that, and I'm willing to work it out in this thread.

If you know that you are interested, fill out a character sheet, and I'll send you a PM.

brainstorming for non-drivers


-Race enthusiast, key grip for the team, doesn't drive, just supports the team and helps them with whatever they need
-Family member, maybe some one they are related to can't stop racing, and it's freaking h/er out
-Straight up love interest, like... a fucking accountant or something that just happens to fall in love with the wrong girl/boy
-Former cop, kicked off the force for misuse and sale of police property, who now specialises in the non-legal acquisition and sale of various items
-A car nerd, trying to become cool by hanging with the racing crowd
-A retired racer, something of a cult legend, now occasionally helps newbies to the scene
-Boyfriend/partner/relative of a particular racer (could be overprotective, submissive or dominant depending on player preference)
-Former racer, crashed out and left with a limp. Can't race any more, so organises wagers and betting
-Total newbie to the scene, there because of a friend - gets the bug when watching first race and is hooked
-Loan shark, there with his enforcers to keep an eye on certain racers who have borrowed from him
-An enforcer of the aforementioned loan shark or other criminal element
-A blogger or column editor, looking for a scoop/story amongst the scene

Character Name: Jacky Speed

Age: April 17th - 34 years old

Character build: 6' 3", 196 lbs. Athletic, and quite a bit shorter than he looks. There is a lenky side to Jacky that the ladies find irresistable.

Affiliation: Driver/Women's boutique and nail parlor owner. Jacky goes all over the nation taking women's clothes from their closets after he sleeps with them. Jacky is the fastest DMC driver on the western side of the world, and anyone in the scene knows better than to challenge his flawless automotive capabilities. He is known for seducing women with his perfect knowledge of cars, business, booze, poker, and sexual prowess the likes of no other man on the planet. In many ways, Mr. Speed is a lone wolf.

Automotive Preference (The car): The 89 Dolorean.

Brief History: Jacky used to be family man. He had four little boys, all named Jacky Speed Jr.. He was always keen on the Dolorean. He's owned four of them, with different plates and different colors. Sometimes he forgets what color the car he's driving actually is. Then he remembers that it's black, just like his heart. Jacky was witness to a major gang crime, and his family was put into witness protection. Jacky refused to hide, and refused to become the coward that the gang wanted him to be. He left his family in Spain out of pride, and returned to America as righteous as ever. He's a man with nothing to lose, because he already gave everything away.

Appearance: He's always better looking than he was the last time he was seen. Jacky dresses in the finest clothes, and he pays over three hundred dollars for his haircut.

Personality: Jacky sees himself as the man that Casanova wanted to be. His business is flourishing, he spends no money on merchandise, and he's too damn charming to be taken to court for any of his crimes. When, he's driving, he's entirely different man. His Dolorean is just like him, an engine in the back, and a drive-shaft that never stops grinding against the red hot friction of fate. He's a depressed man on the inside, and he has nightmares that he can't remember. Jacky only remembers one image whenever he wakes up, and it's the dashboard of his mother fucking car.

Other: Jacky Speed is as straight as an arrow, and there isn't a submissive or a dominate person when he makes love, there is only one infinite explosion of passion and blazing high-octane energy, the kind of rush one could only get from hitting 190 on the freeway with an empty bottle of Vodka in the passenger seat.

Character Name: Aurora Lee

Age: May 25th, 23 years old

Character build: 165cm, 58kg, thin, female, Korean

Affiliation: Street level driver. Ms. Lee is a self-made driver that funds her own projects and cars. She focuses her attention on (illegal?) street racing and local events.

Automotive Preference (The car): Stock 2004 BMW M3 CSL

Brief History: Aurora grew up around cars as her father managed a garage himself. Initially, she got into modelling because the mechanics of cars couldn't interest her too much. She turned her attention to street racing when she was around 20 years of age, after she'd been given a ride by one of her befriended drivers. Aurora was sold from that moment on. She inherited her fathers garage after he passed away, closed it down and only uses it for herself and her friends. Aurora isn't particularly notorious in the local street racing scene and her success never went beyond the city and its local events. Most attention is directed at Aurora being a female in a male-dominant culture. It's not entirely certain how Aurora manages to fund her hobby.

Appearance: She likes to dress fashionably and sometimes sexy, unless she's racing. Aurora walks with confidence and knows her appearance attracts quite some attention. Her appearance and attire will be elaborated on whenever it changes. She has no (visible) tattoos or markings.

Personality: Aurora can be manipulative if needed, using others for her own benefit and covering up with her alluring appearance. Towards women, she may come across as bitchy at times, even hostile, with exception to her close friends. She has made it somewhat of a personal hobby to seduce and discard men, giving her a rather bad reputation.

Other:  Ms. Lee is heterosexual, but could possibly be talked or forced into experimenting with women. On/Offs can be found here. Aurora could use a friend (or two?) that either helps her in her garage as a mechanic or shares the garage as a driver, but they won't be in a (permanent) relationship. This could be an NPC if there's no takers.

I really like your intended GM style, I hope you keep that spirit. As for the possible setting, I'd suggest something modern (2000 or later). As for the location, I have no particular preference.

Character Name: Blaire Simmons

Age: 26 years old, born February 1st

Character build: 5'6", 110 lbs, thin, female, Caucasian

Affiliation: Street Racer

Automotive Preference (The car): Toyota Supra 98' RHD

Brief History: Growing up with three older brothers for siblings, Blaire often ended up tagging along with them and getting involved into their hobbies. When she was in her mid-teens and they were all in their late teens or early twenties, they started getting into modified cars and street racing but eventually drifted away from the scene after a while. For the next few years, Blaire went through with the regular day to day grind, going to school to study biology and working part-time as an assistant at a morgue.

She ended up going on a slow but constant downward spiral, her grades and attendance deteriorating more and more with each passing semester until finally she just gave up and dropped out. Feeling unsatisfied and even depressed about the way that her life was going, Blaire suddenly decided to just say 'fuck it' and try to do all of the things that she'd always wanted to do instead of what was expected of her by her parents or by society.

It started off innocently enough, just a small tattoo, but it snowballed pretty quickly from there. More tattoos, piercings, cars, racing, sex, alcohol and even drugs...there was a period of time during which Blaire was a complete mess, but luckily she managed to pull herself out of it before anything tragic happened. Since then, she's been trying to satiate her cravings for thrills and excitement through means other than drugs, so she started taking the whole racing thing a lot more seriously.

Appearance: Blaire has several tattoos on her arms, legs stomach and back as well as nipple and clit piercings. She's somewhat eclectic when it comes to her style, but it's not uncommon to see her wearing something pretty provocative and edgy. Her eyes are green and her hair is naturally a light blonde, but she's not afraid to dye it whatever other color on a whim.

Personality: She's a very obsessive person, it doesn't take much for her to really get hooked onto someone or something. As an extension of that, she's also very competitive about the things that she takes an interest in. Blaire's pretty chill with most people as long as she feels like they're genuine and that they're not trying to control or pressure her.

Other: Blaire's totally bisexual with rather broad tastes, a high sex drive and a tendency to be a little promiscuous. She shares Aurora's garage and helps out where she can, but she's only an average mechanic without too much experience so she's still got plenty to learn.

+1 vote for 2000 or later for the setting, by the way. I can see pretty much any location being cool as long as we've got an excuse to go there, so I don't really mind. Maybe we can travel around a bit from time to time if we can transport our cars via ship or plane?

Also, MJ, lemme know if the last part of the profile is alright with you, I don't mind changing/removing it if it's not.

Character Name: Jamie Mendez.

Age: 21 Years - 14th February.

Character build: 5'2" (158cm), 8 Stone (112 lbs), Curvy/Athletic, Female, Quarter Mexican - Quarter Taiwanese - Half Caucasian.

Affiliation: Mechanic - She has been fixing up cars pretty much all her life from the age of 4, with the help of her father of course. She also considers herself a formidable driver, though more of a joyrider in it for the adrenaline rush.

Automotive Preference (The car): 1992 Honda Civic Si. (Modified ver.) (Unmodded Ver.)

Brief History: Jamie grew up in a loving household that included her mother and father and their 4 dogs; Benny, Patch, Razzle and Jude. The area they resided in wasn't exactly Boulevard Avenue, but it was better to have a house in a shitty neighborhood than not have a house at all. As far back as she can remember, Jamie had always been roped in with helping her father work on his and his friends cars; it was his only other passion other than her mother. She did enjoy the work, but more than the labor, she enjoyed her dads company. Of course, she loved her mum too, but they didn't spend half as much time together as her and her father. Her dad promised her when he'd finished fixing up his beautiful Ford Mustang that he would take her for a spin in it and when he left her, he would leave it to her. Of course, she was extremely excited though she wasn't pleased at the idea of her father leaving her. When she was 16, her father was murdered in a drive by right out the front of their family home. It tore their world apart. Rather than sticking closer as a family, her mother distanced herself and Jamie had to admit, it was hard to live with her. Her mother even tried selling the car her father had left for her, but Jamie protected it and promised she'd get it up and running so that she could move it to another location. Not only did she feel she wanted to fix it up for herself, she wanted to get it running for her fathers sake as well. Upon her 18th birthday, Jamie moved out of the house to live with a friend in her apartment in the city, taking her fathers car along with her.

Appearance: Jamie has long, dirty blond/caramel brown hair that just about reaches the small of her back. Her eyes are a dark brown, almost a chocolate colour. Her skin is tanned; a nice natural shade of bronze. She has a couple of piercings; her bellybutton and her ears. Jamie has one tattoo; a feminine rose and vine pattern along the spine of her back, reaching between her shoulder blades to beginning of her buttocks. She very much enjoys keeping fit and working out, so she a bit more toned than someone else of her stature may be; she does a work-out every night and enjoys going to the Gym when she can. (She also enjoys taking part in things like dance, yoga, kick boxing and gymnastics.)

Personality: Jamie is an adrenaline junkie at heart. She's daring and isn't afraid to try new things. On one hand, Jamie can be a really friendly, helpful person to pretty much everyone. On the other hand however, she can be a bit grumpy at times and refuse to take instruction; she's a very proud girl. She's extremely bubbly and has been told she's quite a likable person; however, that doesn't always mean she wants to make friends. Jamie is also a very touchy-feely person and likes to be intimate with everyone if possible. As a mechanic, Jamie is very good at her job and enjoys driving/being driven very much but can sometimes get distracted easily and veer off topic on occasion. She likes to think she's one of the best at her job, but at the same time Jamie really loves to learn new things; not only about cars. All in all, Jamie is a very trusting character, though she gullible enough to believe everything that's told to her. She's a very honest, down-to-earth girl and at the end of the day, she'll tell it like it is; no mollycoddling.

Other: Jamie is bisexual, though she has more of a taste for men. She very much enjoys when people take control and know what they want; it's very endearing to her. One of her favorite turn on's would be a sexy car and a confident personality to match; another reason she kept up her work as a mechanic. (O/O's Thread.)

I'll work on a sheet later, since mechanics seem to be covered I think a body/frame guy who installs kits, repairs collusion damage etc. Good ol' country boy, certified maybe by ford who discovered he could make more money in the race scene so left home and runs with this crew? As a driver I want him to be the "power" driver, maybe go muscle car and his import of choice a Skyline R series- prefers the 1/4 mile 1/2 mile drag over street race.

Affiliation: Driver, solely street racing, he has been behind a wheel since he can remember

Automotive Preference (The car): White Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GST

Brief History: Pietro was born to a wealthy family this allowed him to pursue whatever he cared for, and he found nothing more exciting than driving fast. He learned to drive before he was 10, and has been acquiring more experience ever since. However it was only when he started racing that he found his true passion, the brief moments that a race lasted allowed him to feel completely himself.

With a talent to be in important places and enough money to not have other worries Pietro tends to show up wherever a "hot" race scene is brewing, while he doesn't do it often he has been known to fund other drivers he likes to give them a chance, it is also known that he expects favors to be returned.


Appearance: Due to his upbringing he tends to dress in suits, he moves with confidence and always makes sure his appearance is perfect.

Personality: Confident bordering cocky he can be hard to take sometimes, he acts that way because he feels he deserves it, while a lot of what he is was made possible by his parents money, his racing abilities were something he forged, and in his mind that is what defines him. He is determined to get what he wants and will rarely back down.

Other: Straight, while he enjoys being in charge he also like to be confronted with a strong personality

Does this mean that one 'squad' is really a tightly knit team? Or a collection of people from the same racing community? I figured street racing was usually more of a 'every man for himself' type of set up.

good question, it can be, but having friends come along with being human, and naturally street racers become friends with each other, they can teach each other tricks, grow from the experience, and become better drivers. Respect is earned quickly, and if driver's are fare, than losing is usually the end of the dispute. good winners are rare though. Sometimes driving on the same course with the same cars every night would help you take them more seriously as friends than rivals.

In this scenario, the rp that I'm setting up here, the two groups that form will have a chance to work together ooc. I do plan on having a couple teams, almost like how there are rival dojo's in "karate kid", or rival dance groups in "Step up"

I will not be using a random system. As characters appear, I'll be classifying them silently from the rest of the players and future players so that no one limits their own creativity.

I'll say this much now, the four characters that are on the board now will NOT all be in the same group. If we actually end up having seven or less characters, I'll fuse every one back into one large group. Gender and job ratio's are all my concern, sort of, we do need a balanced amount of mena nd women, but getting them onto the right team will be my job. Players, please allow yourself to create exactly who you want. They WILL belong somewhere, I guarantee it.

I will not be using a random system. As characters appear, I'll be classifying them silently from the rest of the players and future players so that no one limits their own creativity.

I'll say this much now, the four characters that are on the board now will NOT all be in the same group. If we actually end up having seven or less characters, I'll fuse every one back into one large group. Gender and job ratio's are all my concern, sort of, we do need a balanced amount of mena nd women, but getting them onto the right team will be my job. Players, please allow yourself to create exactly who you want. They WILL belong somewhere, I guarantee it.

It would offer more opportunities if we start out as fairly basic to moderate. Characters can acquire new stuff over time and the GM can direct the characters toward such goals. Hell, perhaps the characters can even expand on their fleet of vehicles.

I would definatly say something more basic. MC has just recently finished fixing up her fathers car and only just got it road worthy, so it's nothing too flash just yet.

Cars are a strange science. There's a lot to it, and the specifics of a moving car has limitless possibilities. Granted not every style of driving is fast, but it's possible. And- Here's the thing about modifications and upgrades, some of them aren't even that expensive. Especially if you know some one who can install them for you. In order to be competitive at all, there are simple things that any experienced mechanic would suggest, depending on the car, and the style of the driver. These 'upgrades' and 'engine tweaks' can, and usually do end up deciding the end of a race. Especially if it's a particularly long or grueling run.

In truth, this is all very new to me.

I'll likely pm every character about the specifics of their ride, so as not to clog up the interest/recruiting thread. I might wait, depending on each person, I feel like there should be a little bit more competition first.

With that in mind. Sometimes a driver wants to get down with some one that has no idea how fast they can drive their car. It's comforting to be treated like a normal person, when everyone treats you like an adrenaline junkie with a death wish.

it may be a more important role than you think, but i can see why you would say that, not driving in this game, at this point, does feel like a bit part, but I intend to remedy that by including everyone all of the time, like a 3rd grade teacher, only with adults, and hopefully in a helpful, and not an irritating way. :)

Brief History: Clint always imaged a life outside of Bonney Texas. His father ran the local car shop/gas station, his mother taught at the local elementary school and he was the town football hero. It was the type of town where everyone knew everyone else's business and the only child could not wait to get away. Clint was born carrying a football (or so his father claimed) and played most his life. His teenage life consisted of girls, football and working under his father at their shop. Unfortunately Clint was never much for mechanic work, like math (another failed subject) he understood the basics but excelled in another aspect of car work, body repair and paint. His family encouraged him to pursue both football and auto body repair, unfortunately after an injury in his senior year his hopes of a life in the NFL came to an end.

With his one escape out of Bonney cut short he turned to collusion repair and packed up his truck and left to make his own way after Highschool. Clint ended up in the west coast working at a small repair shop as the collusion repair and painter. His work was quickly noticed and he accepted higher paying offers from bigger shops and even took jobs on the side. A few years of living on the west introduced him to many things the small town "cowboy" knew little about, the most influential being street racing. Many people gave him shit about driving his truck to late night car shows and races but those who hired him to paint and install their (body) kits always spread the word on his expertise.

It took Clint a few years of scrimping, saving (and a few good nights at the local poker room),  he finally managed to get a car to take on as a project and even went in person to pick up and tow from the Los Angeles docks. The car is mostly stock but he had a few friends he can call up on since who doesn't like a good paint job on their ride?

Appearance: Clint is not the "trendiest" of dressers and is rather "simple" in his taste. Jeans, boots (cowboy) and cowboy shirts or a T-shirt. He has not worn a suit since his parents forced him to go to church when he was a teenager. People have poked fun at his over sized belt buckle but he takes it in stride, more so when he reveals the back has a bottle opener which makes it easier to pop open some beers and start the good times. He talks with a Texan draw and shows proper manners (attributed to his mother). It rare to see him without a cowboy hat, some traditions don't die.

Personality: Clint works hard and likes to relax hard. When it is time to work he is an efficient machine with a work ethic and discipline not seen in men his age. When work is over he loves a good beer, meal and a football game. He does not like the club scene but does enjoy hitting up a local dive bar for a round of pool (Where he can hustle his fair share of good players) or a local gambling hall or casino. Clint is a "goes with the flow" type guy and is not quick to anger and get crazy but can deliver a mean punch if pushed to far. If there is a rodeo in town you better believe you will find Clint there.

Other: Straight and enjoying the hell out of life.

Bit wasn't the right word - I meant non-racing/racer-support characters. Still important and fun to play, just not necessarily spotlight-worthy. ;-)

Now it might just be the lack of sleep, but that looks mightily like a hint to me... As for possible non-racing characters off the top of my head:

Former cop, kicked off the force for misuse and sale of police property, who now specialises in the non-legal acquisition and sale of various items
A car nerd, trying to become cool by hanging with the racing crowd
A retired racer, something of a cult legend, now occasionally helps newbies to the scene
Boyfriend/partner/relative of a particular racer (could be overprotective, submissive or dominant depending on player preference)
Former racer, crashed out and left with a limp. Can't race any more, so organises wagers and betting
Total newbie to the scene, there because of a friend - gets the bug when watching first race and is hooked

A blogger or column editor, looking for a scoop/story amongst the scene

This RP could use two of everyone of those characters, and three of each one of mine, but I want to stress the idea that you get what you want, and then i find a why to give it to you. This is like a resturuant service, except it's a Roleplay. :)

Character Name: Natalia Verone.

Character build: 5'5, 125lbs, athletic/toned build from years of hard work and dancing before dropping that career for her current one. Italian female.

Affiliation: Loan shark and part time racing promoter.

Automotive Preference (The car): Mistubishi Lancer Evo MR.

Brief History: Natalia is the daughter of racing legend back in Italy who she never knew till her mother died. Her father took her in under his wing and tried to keep his racing life separate from his personal life. She grew up in Rome and was a great dancer there, performing locally which soon grew to nationwide. However, she fell in love with on Daddy Dearest's racers and her life was never the same. Now, the life that her father had tried shielding her from was open to her and she took full advantage of it. No longer was she the timid little dancer that captivated audiences. She easily understood the ins and outs of racing and soon became the President of her father's racing company. Her father's company has always been rumored to be dealing in illegal business but nothing has been proven.

Later, her boyfriend was murdered by one of the many loan sharks in the business and in a rage, Natalia had sought out the murderer and shot him herself. She isn't just a pretty face and is deadly with guns and knives. Something her boyfriend and father often taught her. Now, she's one of the notorious loan sharks and is very picky about when she gets her money. To keep things somewhat legal, she does racing promotion for her father's company.

Appearance: She can be a fashionista but prefers to dress comfortable in case she ever has to get her hands dirty. However, she always wears heels. She is a major shoe lover and most of her closet is filled with nothing but heels. She doesn't care for trends and will always dress the way she wants. She doesn't pay attention to if she's on the best dressed list or the worst dressed list.

Personality: She's more than just a beautiful face. Though, she has no qualms about using her sexuality to get what she wants and when she wants. She can be quite demanding and a bit rude, but most of the time she means well. She's not shy and if she doesn't like someone, they'll know it. Over all, she's easy to get along with. But if anyone crosses her, that's it. The phrase, "Works Hard, Plays Hard," is what she believes she falls under.


Other: Straight but does admire the female form. Even though she's fairly dominant outside of bed, she doesn't like to be in bed but she won't give in quickly either. She's single.

Character Name: Adrian Farone

Age: Late 20s.
Gender: Male.
Sexuality: Straight.
Family: No close family alive.
Appearance: See Picture.
Profession: Driver.

Personality: Utterly reckless. He was always a wild and carefree person, but being orphaned had only increased his wild and dark side. Having been rich, he was rather used to getting what he wanted, and he wasn't afraid of much at all. He loved to have fun and laugh, but also could get a bit moody at times.

Background: Adrian was a spoiled rich child who had gotten into racing. His parents had cheered him on as he rose to success as an F1 driver. He loved cars of all kinds, and he was good at racing them as well. His parents died a few years back, leaving him with their family's fortune, and changing his life. He kept racing, because that was the only thing that interested him. He could have taken over his family's company, but he didn't want to live such an ordinary life. He became rather thrill-seeking, sometimes dangerously so, since his parents had died. He began betting on his races, bored by the ordinary racing. Adrian wasn't a criminal though, and he was discovered rather quickly, and banned from driving in the F1 championships again.

Angry, he moved to California, where he had heard about street racers gathering to have huge races. It was a big state, so it had plenty of room to host these. He still loved driving and racing, and he was still good at it. He knew the insides of a car well, though he wasn't a real mechanic by any means. He knew enough to take care of his own car. He wandered California until he found a street racing crew, and quickly set himself to become that crew's lead driver.

Brief History:Born in New Zealand was raised on go carts and progressed to bigger and faster vehicles, his first love was Rally and he drove his first professional Rally at 14, when he was nineteen his parents were killed in a car crash , they had financially support his racing , faced with having to give up racing, a family friend stepped up with some funding  at least up until the Rally of New Zealand (which Chris had qualified for) he finished third and only the World Rally Champion and the WRC Points leader beat him. It was enough for an offer to turn professional with a new team based in America to be made. He took it. Arrived in Miami with just his bags and 200 dollars, a day later the company behind the team went bust, with no way home Chris was stranded, what made things worst the company owner had a history of ripping his own companies off until they collapsed. Chris in a fit of anger broke the law for the first time in his life. He stole one of the mans cars. For the last two years he's been avoiding the cops, immigration and upgrading his cars in street races across America , he's been In California for the last six months.


Personality:He's actually a nice guy calm under pressure, loyal to those he trusts, distant to everyone else. Growing up he would never consider breaking the law, but now he's not just in deep, he's loving the lifestyle

Other: He's straight, loves long legged women, he won't stop for cops ever...prefers sharing his bed with more than one woman at a time ,a girlfriend open to that will make him very happy. there's a third Supra in the game, Mia H's character drives a Supra as well, she sent me her Character sheet in PM, there will eventually be a character thread where all the npcs and pcs will be stored. Although, I could just store them in a spoiler in the OOC that I'm about to make.

The triple supra thing might be cool. It's actually a great reason for three driver's to meet each other for the first time.... I'm saying too much. The story is coming together great, and sometime tomorrow, hopefully!!! I'll have to cram it in like homework! some time tomorrow, I'll have the second round of interviews for everyone. I'm even gonna narrow down the last questions so I can get a real good idea of what everyone is looking for.

It needs to be said, and I'll type it again, but I'll write it out now, while nothing is decided. Everyone will be make compromises in the areas that they aren't concerned about in order to recieve the optimum experience in the areas that DO concern them! This is a bit of an experiment for me. But, so far it's going really well.

Character name: Jason Hunt

Character age: 37

Character build: Caucasian male, standing at 1.91 metres tall and weighing in at 102kg with an athletic build.

Affiliation: Retired racer and stunt driver, owns a vehicle restoration and customisation shop. 

Automotive Preference: 70's & 80's American Muscle Cars - drives a 1978 Pontiac Trans-Am Firebird that he has restored and customised over the past five years.

Brief History: As his dad was an automobile mechanic and his mother died when he was a young, Jason grew up around cars. He had no particular love for them though until he sat watching a rerun of the 1977 movie Smokey and the Bandit. Something about the Bandit's car just caught the young boy's imagination and he fell in love with the sleek muscle car and that widened into a great appreciation for American Muscle cars in general. Although he was trained as a mechanic by virtue of years spent helping his Dad, Jason was more interested in the driving than the fixing. He liked to go fast and had a feel for how far he could push the car he was driving.

After winning a few local track races, Jason was offered sponsorship and he leapt at the chance to become a professional racer. For seven years he raced production cars on the oval circuit series, but after the initial excitement wore off, he discovered that it wasn't for him. After retiring from racing, Jason got into stunt driving and while he enjoyed the challenge of pulling off some tough stunts, again he found that the joy just wasn't there. At the age of thirty-two, Jason had a pile of cash saved up but no real ambition in life except to keep driving.

During a visit back home, he was helping his dad in the family garage when it suddenly hit him just how much he had missed working on the cars. On returning to the city, Jason sunk most of his money into a large garage. Using his fame as a circuit and stunt driver, he brought in some business - more so when he managed to hook up with the local street racing scene. Finding a beat-up 1978 trans-am, he began restoring and customising the car that had always been in his heart. Finding that he got real satisfaction from the process, he began acquiring other write-off's and started to focus his garage's work on restoration and customisation. As he often has space to spare in the garage, he has invited racer's to come in and use his facilities, mostly gratis. Jason rarely races any more and when he does, it is purely for the joy of the ride.

Appearance: At 6 foot 3 inches and being naturally built like a linebacker, Jason can at first seem intimidating although this is usually offset by his friendly demeanour and smile. He moves with a relaxed confidence, as if he is a man in control of a life he is enjoying. While he will occasionally grow out a beard, Jason prefers to shave every other day. Although some people call him a hippy for it, Jason keeps his hair a few inches past his shoulders in length - the hassle is worth it considering that his lovers always seem to enjoy running their hands through it. His usual attire is a leather jacket worn over polo-shirt with jeans, although he can wear a suit well when he needs to and will often wear blue coveralls when working in the garage.

Personality: Time has soothed the adrenaline junkie in him enough that, while Jason enjoys going fast and living the high life, it isn't enough for all the time. As such, he also has a solid, dependable side and an eye to the future. He has lived enough to know that there will always be someone better at anything he does and having accepted this, Jason tends to be fairly laid back and friendly. He can often be found at meets or parties at the centre of a group, sat with a bottle of beer as he recalls stories from his life or gives advice to those that ask for it. Jason still remembers what it was like to break into the racing culture and as a result, he has a soft spot for new arrivals and will often go to their aid, sometimes even sponsoring them or allowing them free use of his facilities and time. He does have a darker side, and those that betray his trust or take a grievance against his friends too far will often find this out to their detriment.

Other: Jason is heterosexual, but he doesn't mind having an audience or extra participants involved. He tends to take control and show that the shifter isn't the only stick he has a gift with.

I can see our character's will have a lot in common. Jason loves to visit the scrapyard, looking for potential restoration projects. He just enjoys breathing life back into these abused and abandoned cars, turning them back into the works of art they were built to be. He can get quite... passionate... on the subject. :p

Character Name: Lisa Yamata

Age: 6/18. 26 years old.

Character build: 5'6", 146 pounds Athletic build, Female, Asian-American (Half Japanese)

Affiliation: Driver/Mechanic. Worked in her fathers dealership ever since she was a child and learned through an apprenticeship. As a driver, Lisa normally races quarter mile drag strips but she has began to take an interest in drift racing. She doesn't have much in the way of funds, should her car become totaled, so she tends to drive a bit on the conservative side. 






Automotive Preference (The car): Asian import cars. Easy to fix, lots of aftermarket parts, looks nice when fully kitted out. She has nothing against American cars, but seems to not like most European cars.


Brief History:  Lisa's father has owned a, decently successful, multi-brand dealership ever since she can remember. As both parents worked, Lisa would leave school and go to her fathers dealership to do her homework. Of course, being a kid, she found homework boring and the sound of engines and tools to be more exciting. She spent more and more time in the mechanic pit, watching cars. She built an impromptu apprenticeship with the other mechanics, and was doing simple repairs for the shop by the age of fourteen. By the time she could drive, she was able to pull apart an engine block and put it back together, mostly. By the time she graduated high school, all she ever wanted to do was work on cars. She ended up with a job working for her father, selling him on the fact that she would learn the business from the inside and out and, one day, would take over the dealership. With the money she saved, she made her first purchase, a black Acura Integra. One of the mechanics from the shop introduced her to a quarter mile strip of road and  a local crew of racers. From then on, it was an addiction. After years and thousands of dollars into her car, she ended up trading up to a Mazda RX-7 FD. The rest is history.


Appearance: She dresses conservative for the most part, clothes she is not afraid to get dirty in. It is not uncommon for her to have grime or grease stains on her skin. Her left arm has a sprawling tattoo from her left arm, spiraling around and up  along her back, a giant dragon who's head finishes upon her back, flames flaring off of the dragon's body. The tattoo is elaborately shaded, looking like it took some time and was expensive. The outline for a second dragon, on her right arm, is set, but no where near finished.

Personality: Lisa is a hard worker. The kind who does her research and does not finish until the job is done. Because of this, she can be very intense and is prone to outbursts over long periods of failures or frustrations. While she does race, winning is not that important to her. It's the community and the ride that she enjoys, though the money is nice. She is fiercely loyal to friends and is more than willing to sit in a cell than to snitch her friends out to the police. This also means that, should someone threaten someone close to her, she will grab a socket wrench and remind them why it's a bad idea to shoot their mouth off. By and large, she is nice to be around, if not a bit boring at times.


Other: Sexually, she is bisexual with a bit of a male preference. She does not seek out sexual encounters, but does not mind if a few end up coming her way.

Personally, I am more of a Skyline fan. The R34 is my dream machine but we already have one of those. But the FD is a thing of beauty and rotary engines have a serious place in my heart.

As the 10th member, is there an organization that I will already belong to so that we can keep the numbers even? Likewise, in the main character thread there is an interest for both mechanics and drivers. Is there already an abundance of one? If so, I would like to play the other.

I'd say just create a character you'd like to play and then Photo will discuss it with you once he's back online. Because people aren't set in groups or anything yet, it's hard to say really. I mean, there are two 'mechanic's', quite a few drives and some other characters as well. Just take a look through and see what you'd like (: Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Organizationally wise, there will be 2 teams but the gm is keeping secret who belongs to who (and is probably not completely defined yet) so don't worry about it.

I think mechanics are less abundant, but I doubt there is that big of a surplus of drivers.

I don't think that we're really short on mechanics or drivers, so you could do either or neither. Photo has kind of emphasized the fact that we should play whatever we want and that he'll craft the story accordingly for everyone to fit in even if they're involved in a capacity other than racing or fixing cars. There's a spoiler in the second post with ideas for non-driver characters and whatnot, but you've probably seen it.

And what everyone else said is also true.

Aaaaand you'd be the 12th member, not the 10th.

Character Name: John Hellyer

Age: 26

Character build: John is 6'3, 195 pounds and somewhere between athletic and thin.

Affiliation: Med-school student, already starting his residency for the past year or so. John is shaping up to be a pretty amazing doctor, as his family always wanted, however recently he's finally saved up enough cash to hopefully get himself involved in the local street racing scene! Though, he's never before been a part of anything like that, and only remembers street racing from what he fucked around with as a teenager. He love's it though.

Automotive Preference (The bike): John has saved up a fair deal of money, but needs a lot more fast if he is going to be able to actually buy something top of the line to break into the scene and become an actual driver. He's planning to try and bet what he has at the next race to double up and get a car. Brief History: Truth be told John's life has not really been that difficult so far. The worst he could probably say about his upbringing is that his parents were extremely strict, and (in his opinion) expected far too much out of him. Most of that had to do with the fact that his parents are multi-millionaires, and the idea is that he is going to pick up the torch once his father finally passess away. John however never had an interest in business, and always found himself more interested in cars and bikes, living life by gauge of your fuel tank over some corporate office. Maybe because it was so different compared to what he was used too.

Regardless his father would have none of it, he was barely even allowed to participate in sports from his mother's fear that he might snap his neck! Well near the end of High School, which was of course spent at only the best male boarding school in the country, John realized that the only way he was going to get out of taking over and joining in on the family business to even have some kind of a chance of getting away was if he did something that was still seen as respectable. Well, he had always thought medicine was sort of interesting. I mean, he loved ER and watched Scrubs constantly in college. So, he went into Med-School once his father consented, and has actually developed quite an aptitude for medical science. Spurred on all the more by the fact that his father seems to have left him alone in California while knowing that he is doing well in his practice.

Appearance: He doesn't hold to any particular style, and more often then not is probably in his hospital scrubs having just come or about to head off to work. Otherwise he wears whatever is the latest thing from Walmart or Target.

Personality: John is a kind, smiling sort of man who loves to joke around and meet new people. He typically remains pretty reserved about his past however, not because of any dark secrets, but just does not like to admit that he actually is an extremely wealthy person because of who his parents are. In fact, John goes out of his way to buy cheap clothes to further assist the illusion. In his experience, people treat the 'rich kid' a lot differently.

He has been called ambitious when he finds something that he loves. Trouble is he's only found two things he loves, racing/cars and medicine.

Other: Straight, with a certain attraction to the more devious and daring sort of women. As this embodies everything that he could not have while growing up in schools, surrounded by a bunch of stuck up bitches, or worse, just men.

Character Name: Rex Hartmann

Age: 12 September, 27 y/o

Character build: A lean and hungry five-foot-ten, one-forty. Pale-skinned, dark Germanic. The slight hint of a sneer seems to have been factory installed on his face - it's there even when he sleeps. Of course, when he means it, it becomes even worse.

Affiliation: Street racer, occasional smuggler, parts-shop stocker. Rex works by day in an auto-parts shop, doing stock-work and making deliveries to dealerships and local mechanics. Undoubtedly while some small part of his financial success has to do with the occasional shipment gone missing, significantly more of it has to do with the occasional shipment that contains things it shouldn't...and his willingness to make deliveries on those things without asking questions. As a parts-counter guy, he's only a barely adequate mechanic - but he's willing to trade parts or cash to see a job done right on his car. When Friday night rolls around, he's a bat out of Hell any place he can find someone worth challenging, putting his legal and illegal earnings on the line in the best tuned vehicle he's been able to have cobbled together.


Automotive Preference (The car):Grey market import 2002 Autech Silvia S15 Spec-R Varietta (What's a Varietta?! It's a powered hardtop Silvia convertible (and Rex's retains the original factory wing shown in this gallery that is NOT in the above image)...coated in carbon black and with a black pearl 'ghost' checkered flag scrolling across the passenger side of the hood and passenger front fender...the pearlescent paint becoming visible only when the light hits it right. As might be expected of a grey market import, it is RHD.)

Brief History: Rex isn't an evil guy. He isn't malicious or deliberately cruel, he's just got a somewhat broken moral compass and very low tolerance for rules or laws that get in his way.

Rex's divorced mother took him with her to California when he was ten, and with her constant bitching about alimony payments instilled in him a sense of the unfairness of the world and its lack of respect for an individual's entitlement. As time went on, he saw less and less of his father, a low-end stock-car driver who made ends meet by working as a club magician (when he could find such employment) and doing children's parties (when he couldn't). These two miserable people were the exemplars from which Rex derived the Way the World Works:


  • The hand is quicker than the eye.
  • Everything's got to come from somewhere. You gain, somebody else loses. That's the breaks.
  • Sometimes you've got to take what you're entitled to.
  • The best way to control an audience is to focus their attention.

Growing into his teenage years in California, Rex never stopped craving the spotlight. He was the second-best quarterback on the school team, until he got caught with steroids because he was tired of being second best.

At 17, he ended up pleading to a misdemeanor reckless driving charge that was part of a joyriding case against two of his friends. Because one of the accused thieves was eighteen, the case was uneasily divided between the juvenile and criminal courts. As his friends frequently worked on, bought, and sold automobiles, and were witnessed picking him up in the stolen car, he argued that he hadn't been told the car was stolen, and still wasn't aware when they were finally pulled over. He was fined, his license was suspended briefly, but because he was tried as a juvenile this is a 'sealed record.'

It is only because of this sealed record that he was able to get a driving job at eighteen while he was going to tech school. After his first year, he rapidly became one of the highest-paid young cabbies in the San Francisco Checkered cab fleet - until they figured out he was using every trick in the book to jump fares and run up the meter while using speed to convince passengers that they were getting somewhere fast, even though the 'short cut' was the long way around. It was around this time that he first started racing in SCCA Autocross events - solo slalom-course races that rewarded pushing the limits of control to make the best time through a difficult course. The skills he picked up would serve him well later.

At twenty-one, he was involved in a three-car pileup that was ostensibly the result of street racing. Rex insisted blithely that he was a non-participant, casting the blame on the other two, both of whom were also being charged with DUI (Rex was, perhaps surprisingly, clean). He got out of it with what amounted to a minor hand-slap, but his insurance agency then tried to charge him as well, and by the time it was done he had no car and a rather large legal debt. He couldn't keep doing his work without a car, and he couldn't pay off the debt without a job - hell, even with the job, he couldn't easily pay off his debt. Enter his old acquaintance Fernando, who knew some people who knew some people who could get him some money, quick, but he would have to repay it.

Rex understood from the beginning that he needed to pay the debt off in full and on-time, if not sooner. He made a pretty good impression for the first half year. Never missed a payment, always handed over a little extra, never made it necessary for anybody to ask where he was, much less where his money was. Better still, Fernando eased him into an evenings and weekends job that was significantly more lucrative...He just had to do some regular travelling to Mexico, behave himself at the border, and not ask too many questions. In time, his debtors merged with his employers, and when he finally paid off what he owed, he had a nice, regular source of side-income.

Two years later, after 9/11, the borders got a lot tougher. Rex had fewer appointments, and things seemed more and more dangerous. He'd gotten a decent job at an auto parts store, though, and in 2002, he got asked if he handled shipping and receiving. Why yes, yes he did. This was convenient, since a great many aftermarket and semi-OEM parts were produced in Mexico and shipped into the U.S. without much in the way of inspection. Rex simply had to make the right orders from the right companies at the right times and make sure the right customers picked them up. Or in some cases, he got to do some more driving, delivering 'parts' to particular customers who didn't have the time to come into the shop.

For Rex, things have been going pretty well ever since.

Rex has picked up more than a few simple sleight-of-hand tricks from his father - nobody who knows him can ever remember seeing him use an actual lighter to ignite a cigarette, and when he's bored he has a tendency to roll quarters along the backs of his fingers. No-one has ever proven any direct connection, but a few serious competitors have had to drop out of races in his vicinity because they couldn't find their keys. He's known to occasionally deal drugs...deal, not push...generally weed, never anything really hard, and he has strict rules about not selling to racers a day or two before they'll be racing. He'll happily sell to them afterward, but in at least this sense he sees himself as responsible, or at least not wanting any share of the responsibility if other drivers end the race in a hospital or a morgue.

Appearance:  Rex is a swaggering cock. He dresses like a polished version of something out of a fifties biker movie, right down to the black leather bomber jacket and the slicked and styled hair. But between the curt remnants of his Brooklyn accent and the way the leather fits him, he somehow manages to make it work. As annoyingly stereotypical as it is, in a peculiar way the greatest annoyance is that he doesn't seem to be acting, or even aware of the stereotype. The man pulls it off, and somehow pulls it together with a casually maniacal flair that makes the hooligan effect seem only natural.

Personality: Rex is slightly aggressive at the best of times. He likes to be the center of attention. He likes to win.  He's willing to support someone else's win, so long as it's obvious that he's the one who made it possible. He likes helping his friends, so long as they're appreciative and remember who helped them. Actually, he'll help just about anyone, so long as it'll feed his ego to do it - not that he thinks about it that way, he's just propelled by a more selfish drive-train than an altruistic one, but once it's put in gear, it's still delivering the same results so far as everyone else is concerned. When racing, Rex is extremely aggressive. He makes a good lieutenant or 'blocker' in this sense, and he's not averse to a bit of cooking the books, fixing the odds, minor theft, sabotage or other forms of cheating and unpleasantness, so long as nobody gets seriously hurt...And as far as he's concerned, emotional wounds can heal, and if it's a little risky, well...most modern cars are made to keep their drivers alive through most crashes...Not that anyone's certain Rex ever deliberately caused a crash, but he certainly seems willing to play chicken. This and the somewhat maniacal attitude he cultivates go a long way to suggest that he doesn't go out of his way to avoid causing crashes. Off the track, he has a tendency to see himself as the man others come to for solutions...Whether it's parts, drug connections, or solving problems that consist of other people. He's pretty easy to get help from for people who know him...So long as he's believes he's being treated with respect and people are willing to acknowledge that they need him and what he can do. Stroke him the right way and it's easy to get what one wants. Irritate him and...Things are liable to get harder. At the worst of times, Rex will be an arrogant and pushy bastard. If he is someone's lieutenant, they'd best keep him on a short leash. If he isn't the lieutenant, then whoever is had better watch their back. (With his limited scruples he probably shouldn't be a group leader.)

Other: Crooked. Which is to say, not straight...Not that it is likely to come up much, since every other male here seems to be! Rex certainly seems to prefer females, but then, more than any matters of gender, Rex pays attention to having his ego stroked. He's definitely a self-obsessed bastard, and the odds are good he'll either take the lead in bed, or expect to be treated well for the favor he's doing you. What do you mean he isn't doing you a favor? You're in his bed, right? ;)

Actually, I wasn't hiding! I just read this thread tonight and was sort of going 'Where are the black knights?' There were characters who could have been put into a black knight group, sure, but there weren't many that seemed to be designed to be, well, classic antagonists or anti-heroes.

And then I started thinking about it. And then I was considering putting a movie on. And I pulled Streets of Fire off the shelf and that was IT. Because I had to make a character that let me use a picture of Willem Dafoe as Raven Shaddock. ;D But Rex has little in common with Raven except his sneer, his hairstyle, and his yummy armor-piercing cheekbones.

The thing that took longest was finding a car, because I admit I am no authority on street racing and have probably played fewer video games about it than anyone here. XD

I am definitely looking forward to the game. :) Trying to play a smug male bastard looks shamefully interesting.

Totally a non-participant, due to other obligations; however, I just thought I'd pop in to let you all know that Photo is AWESOME. He's in a couple of my group games and is a phenomenal poster and great with driving the story! I'll probably be following along reading this one, just to see what he does with it. ^.^ Hope everyone enjoys the ride!
