Sept of the Emerald Glade (Big Game) [Any Gender Players Wanted]

A howl ripples through the dark as the wind whistles in the trees. The moonlight spills over the treeline to reveal a large stone like monument. Surrounding the stone figure are smaller boulders circling it in a ritualistic fashion. The light of a fire upon the mountainous region, a few miles south, is seen from a clearing in the sky. The black feather wings of a raven swoop down into the trees to spy upon a gathering of creatures. A group of individuals in varying styles of dress, settled around a large fire as a creature of myth and legend bounds through, leaping over the flames to glance around in a flash of fury and fangs. The figure is tall and covered in fur from head to toe. Its fingers elongated to end in vicious claws as its very canine like ears are slicked back. Another howl escapes and the others around the fire begin to change and howl in turn. The bones in their bodies cracking and shifting, as skin and sinew are pulled and extended. Finally a covering of fur sprouts out all over while a tail grows from their backsides and their ears extend, fingers elongating and their legs end in haunches of wolf men. They lift their heads back to howl in reply to the larger more dominate male in the middle.

The raven settles on a branch just watching with large topaz eyes. Its head tilts to the side as it listens and watches from the safe distance of the trees. The dancing begins as they chant and move about the fire in a circular very native fashion. It was a ritual of old, one passed down from generation to generation. The words were lost to those not familiar and the tone was gravelly and guttural with a feral intent punctuating parts to be recognized.

To the side the raven noticed a few younger human looking individuals who watched on in awe, listening and learning as the others moved with such fluidity and grace. The normal looking ones seemed to understand all being said and a few spoke in the same tongue, though in a more somber tone. Finally the one in the middle stopped and raised his long arms upward to the sky, glistening in his large palms was an urn in which the ashes were soon dusted around. A few growled words of wolven nature were spoken and the fires flickered and flamed upward toward the nights full moon. As the container emptied and the last of the ash was blown into the wind, they settled back away from the licking flames. All grew quiet and settled as they each slowly shifted back downward into a human form, sullen and at peace all at once. The one in the middle spoke in plain English as he lowered the now empty urn.

This group game will be loosely based off of the old Werewolf: the Apocalypse game put out by White-Wolf.  If you are familiar with the setting and the game and you see something in this writeup that contradicts the setting that you know and love, this is not a mistake on our part.  It was likely intentional.  There have been some of the changes and other details that you should know about.  If you're not familiar with Werewolf: the Apocalypse, don't worry.  Experience with the canon setting is not necessary to enjoy this game.

The setting of this game will be a Caern called the Sept of the Emerald Glade in Washington State deep in the forests surrounding Mount Rainier.

There is no rank other than Elder.  You must earn the respect of your peers.  Only the most seasoned and venerable Garou are made "Elders" of their people. You will start as a Garou. To become an elder you must earn that in game.

Garou in this game do not have Gifts other than their Auspice powers, but they do excel at certain things.  Every character gets to choose 6 things that they have going for them.  For the sake of simplicity we're going to call them "powers".  Example:  Erik is a very accomplished fighter and has great strength.  That's two things.  He is also exceedingly attractive.  That's three things.  He possesses a fetish of great power.  That's 4 things.  He has also gone to medical school and is a qualified doctor.  That's the fifth thing.  Finally he is pure-blooded, something of great importance to Garou.  That's the sixth thing.  You could make a character that can shape shift more swiftly than normal, is very intelligent, has a spirit companion bound to her, knows a lot about the occult, has a powerful fetish and runs very fast.  Other examples might be the ability to partial shift, the ability to mimic noises with disturbing accuracy, and exceptionally sharp claws and teeth.

The only restriction is no Garou is immune to silver.

This game will be free form.  No stats per say.  If combat happens, write it out and come to an agreement over who wins via PMs.  It's all about the RP.

There's not any real plots starting up yet, we are trying to work in character intros and what not. There is still room for a couple more people if they want to join in. It's semi freeform.  Everyone has a list of "powers"... things that they are good at or have going for them.  Compare "powers" and see if one person has an overwhelming advantage in whatever contest is in dispute.  Common sense should apply but if the outcome is in doubt in a match between 2 PCs, discuss things in PMs and try and come to a reasonable agreement.  If the outcome is between a PC and an NPC, we the GMs will make the call.  We won't have every single NPC wipe the floor with your characters... we believe in drama and showcasing the PCs, but if an NPC is too much (and some of them may be), be aware that if you pick a fight without backup against certain foes, you may lose.  Character death is not something taken lightly... ie, we won't do it unless the player agrees to it, but we will enforce things like battle scars even if you do survive a savage wound.

We are not accepting bete as PCs at this time. (IE no corax, nuwisha, naga etc)

We are not accepting cubs or anyone who has never been to the Sept. You could've visited and are returning but cannot be a stranger. Its too taxing and repetitive to play out over and over.

We are not accepting any PC with the power (gift) of speed. Its already a common power and there's so much more out there to choose from. So no more speedster types.

A few things to consider when making your character...

Your character will have to already be a member of the Sept.  We are not accepting newcomers to the Sept, nor are we accepting any cubs.

I would also ask you to thoroughly read the information we've laid out in the interest and game information threads, as well as checking out the existing character sheets for reference.  Those threads should answer most of your questions.  It's a lot of information but I feel it's all pertinent. 

The main things that are different in this game from the canon WtA setting are...

-No Ranks.  You're either a cub, a Garou or an Elder.  Player characters must start out as regular Garou. 
-No Metis, as in Metis don't exist in our world.
-No gifts as you know them, unless you choose one as a "power"  (ie gifts aren't a given in this game other than the one that comes with your Auspice).  "Powers" are anything from gifts to abilities and skills... things you are good at.  If you don't take fighting as a "power", for example, it's assumed that your fighting ability is minimal.  If you do choose a gift as a "power", please don't have it be a gift that's above rank 2 by the books.  Gifts that are more powerful are attainable later, but for now no starting level PC has access to that kind of power.

We've just gotten to the point in game where the main plot is starting.  We'd love to see what kind of character you can come up with!  Just remember, established characters only (that is, characters who have been a part of the Sept and have met those in charge and whatnot for at least two weeks) and choose one of the three packs to be a part of.  They are:

Digital Spirits - An Urban Pack focused highly on spirits with a lot of Theurge members.  Their alpha is an NPC Glasswalker.

Gaia's Vengeful Tears - A front line warrior pack dedicated to tearing the Wyrm asunder.  Their alpha is a Get of Fenris Ahroun named Erik who also acts as the Sept's Warder.

Unnamed New Pack - A mixed pack that was just formed at the behest of the Sept Elders.  Their role is uncertain as of yet.  Their alpha is a Black Fury Ragabash named Claire.

Normally I'm more of a Geist or Mage girl myself, but I gotta admit . . this has my interest. I just need to relearn a lot of Werewolf terminology since at the moment I'm actually playing a Forsaken in an IRL chronicle, so all the terminology and info in my head is for the Forsaken. Phew, been ages since I cracked open an oWoD book. I'll get to re-learning things, and see what I can do for a concept.

Wow! I'm very interested. I've done OWoD Werewolf before as a player and as a storyteller, and had a great time. I've been reading my Werewolf stuff again since the anniversary book was announced, and jonesing to play.

The character I have in mind is a Silent Strider from the Muslim middle east, who escaped the plight of women there with her first transformation and journey into the dark roads of the umbra. She fled to America, the land of the free, but ended up a Canadian citizen with only a temporary visa into the US. I see her as an umbral guide, inspired by Harriet Tubman to help abused women to escape their situation, especially in her native part of the world. If your vision of the umbra supports taking mortals through the gauntlet, that would be something I'd like to explore. If not, it's no big deal!

For inspiration I'd probably use the Silent Striders tribe book, Rage Across Egypt, and Umbra Revised. If possible I'd like to take Tsetse Fly as my totem, to emphasize the protective, vengeful side of the Silent Striders.

I see that you're looking for a female character and I hope it's not a problem that any character I play is going to be a lesbian. It's not really satisfying for me to play a straight character. If this means losing honor/being nagged by elders for not meeting her obligation to have children, I can live with that. It could be interesting.

This isn't a system game per say, so actual stats and such aren't used. While we do have "gifts" we are calling them 'powers' and each starting character receives 5 powers plus one power for their auspice or tribe. These "powers" are to reflect your characters talents and abilities not just standard "gifts" like you'd see in a oWoD system game. IE if you are a master in the arts of kendo, that would normally on a system game sheet be listed as a secondary skill in martial arts/brawl, however in this game it would be included in your powers list (which are looked at on a case to case basis along with supporting history).

IE if you are a master in the arts of kendo, that would normally on a system game sheet be listed as a secondary skill in martial arts/brawl, however in this game it would be included in your powers list (which are looked at on a case to case basis along with supporting history).
