Pathfinder Interest/GM Check

Well, since I've got room for another game now, I figure a nice basic pathfinder game would be pretty nice to get going. Before anyone gets their hopes up I am NOT going to be GMing a game. Finding a GM would be item number 1 on the list of stuff to get done. Also, I have buckets of selfish demands. BUCKETS!

I'd like this to be a small group game. That means 4 players and a GM, if not 3 players and a GMPC or two.

Low-to-mid level is what makes me happy. Anywhere between 1st and . . . oh . . 8th or 10th level?

I like my fantasy stuff old-school adventuring. A trek across Golarion or Faerun or Greyhawk, moving from town to town doing good ol' quests, and raiding dungeons or attacking monster dens. Big world-ending threats are for high level games, not this one, unless being used for setting fluff I guess.

This is just personal bias, but I like non-weird races. Elves and half-orcs and halfling and whatnot are cool, but I don't 'get' Goliaths and furs and half-demons and such. If the GM is cool with it and they join, I won't raise a fuss, but I'm not going to get cuddly with them either most likely.

Any nice possible GMs out there willing to work with me on this stuff? Or want to team up for some worldbuilding? Or just chat about possibilities? >.>

Just keep in mind that it's a lot of work to run a proper pathfinder game. Also, are you familiar with Golarion?

Or any other campaign settings? My personal favorite is Planescape, but Dark Sun and Eberron are also fun ones that break away a little from the classic fantasy tropes. (Planescape = journeying through the multiverse fighting demons, devils, gods, and stranger creatures, Dark Sun = post-magic apocalypse wasteland, Eberron = pulp magitech.)

Golarion is nice and straightforward though. Especially when sticking to the inner sea. Also you might want to keep the race/class choices simple as a beginning GM. Perhaps just the core book.

Atypical settings like the three Ghostwheel mentioned are exactly NOT what a rookie GM should be trying to run :-).

Latooni, do I read you correctly that the published Adventure Paths are too epic for your tastes even though they start at low level?

Also depends on a few other variables, what level you're starting at, etc.

I just personally don't like the published adventure paths, but yeah, they tend to be a bit too epic for my tastes. And yeah, totally not looking for the atypical settings like Darksun. I'd be willing to listen to discussion about it though.

I'm familiar with Golarion. However, I've also done an entire 1-10 campaign in the Chrono Trigger World (specifically, ONE specific point in time, the dark ages with floating islands and all), and I also have an idea for doing something in Brutal Legend.

I'm pretty sure I could make battle images using Maptool and upload them to imgur or something. In that case, tell me what you guys want to represent you on the map!

We could go with Planescape ideas, or have our game jump to that. A big draw of Planescape for me is the ability to go anywhere and do anything. If I wanna dump you guys in Faerun one day and Krynn the next, I can and I will.

Planescape is way out of my depth. I like sticking to one, normal setting where you can do some real persistant changes to stuff, get a reputation going, and don't have to deal with random shifts in 'the rules' and stuff. :x

I just want to reiterate that I'm looking for some nice 'normal' adventuring. Town to town questing, dungeon delving, caravan escorting, bandit slaying, etc. If the game survives for quite a while and high level is reached, then I'm fine with dipping into weirder stuff, but definately not early on. >.>;

So, some part of Golarion or Faerun then to start? Also, we'll need some chargen guidelines and a starting level, yeah?

We kick things off at 1st level. No evil allowed. I'll go ahead with Golarion, but I'm not very well versed in the various factions-and to be honest, I really don't wanna deal with them. I'll be fine if it's in your backstory, I can spin it as a plot hook, but I don't want you guys running around as official faction representatives-it gets complicated, and I hate complicated. Standard starting cash for classes, all Core and Base classes and races allowed, and 2 traits with standard rules.

Edit because someone sent me a message: If you wanna do any player race from a monster book, ask for approval. Anything that's potentially evil (Tieflings, etc.) will be heavily scrutinized, and if I judge that said character has turned fully evil, I'm taking the character away. I've had a few people try to do evil under my nose, and I do not like it: Pathfinder is not about evil unless we all agree to do evil. It's about heroes.

I'm also not a big fan of Chaotic Neutral, but a good backstory gets you a lot with me-good sales cover up many sins.

I did some random rolls and junk, and got a bunch of crap, but the Heroic rolls gave me some pretty sweet stats, so I'm tentatively going with that unless I get veto'd. >.>

Character-wise, I'm going to get about un-munchkin as I can get here with my class choices. I'm going to make a Wizard/Cleric/Mystic Theurge. Good times!
