Ancient Egypt (Still Recruiting)

I've been working on an world centered around ancient Egypt. This isn't all the information that I've come up with of course, but I'd just like to see who's interested. There is more information Here.

Egypt

Over the years Egypt has seen it's people, buildings, architecture, all of it come and go. Their polytheistic worshiping of several deities drying up along with much of the Nile river. Years ago, thousands of years ago though, it flourished. Under the watchful eye of their Pharaoh, with irrigation the crops, flourished, the river ran strong providing for many. It was Geb, the God of the Earth who first noticed that the people they had created were beginning to wither away. With the help of his son Osiris, despite what his brother Set did to him, the two of them placed a curse over their land. In the heavens, theoretically, Egypt would live one. Not touched by technology, outside influences or religion, it would withstand the test of time, just as it was. Glorious in it's vastness, a Pharaoh of man ruling those beneath him. The people would procreate, they would live, they would die, none would ever leave Egypt and it's glorious cities though. After all, why would they want to? No touch of famine, drought, or plague would ever touch them. Even the poor, though they would work hard to earn it, would have a little food in their bellies every night.

To create this curse though, Geb would not be powerful enough. He would need the help of the Sun God Ra. With his blood, so long as Ra lived, they would have the perfect Egypt. Free to be adorned and worshiped by any and all, for they had created them. It could expand as far as the eye could see, for the country no longer existed on the Earthly plane. Instead it inhabited area not bound by the laws of man.

Into their third dynasty of the Asim Pharaoh's, unexpectedly Pharaoh Asim Abasi dies peacefully in his sleep. None of the Gods, the High Priests, or even his wife and son expected it. Though Set, who had long been whispering into Asim Adom's ear, the Pharaoh's son, leapt at the chance to have his influence spread upon the land that his Father had created. As Adom ascended the throne, becoming Pharaoh he had his temple built in the likeness of Set making the other deities worry. Set, being the strongest of the Gods, was also the trickiest. He had killed his brother, Osiris, who was brought back to life, in order to assume the throne. If he were to take Ra's blood, mix it with his own, the possibility to recreate the Earth Geb had created loomed in the back of all of their minds. Though so far, nothing has been done, instead Set sits, awaiting by Adom, molding the young man into the type of Pharaoh he believes Egypt needs.

There are always two sides to characters that are forced into marriage. While one side of her continues to struggle toward doing the correct thing, being an idealistic mother, and a serene and calm face for all to see - there is often temptation that can bring the hottest fire out of her which would burn like the sun. Desire and temptation are the two biggest flaws of Nut while she tries to live a justified and moralistically positive influence to the other Gods and Goddesses. Attempting to be wise beyond her years, but often finding herself with skewed with the selfishness of her own desires.

Still, for the majority of the time she can be a woman of great advice and compassion. Willing to help foster and raise people into a higher and positive light - an almost spiritual healer.

There is an overall plot of sorts though it is sandboxy, though how involved your character gets is up for debate. If you have ideas please, feel free to Pm me. As far as Demi-gods go, it doesn't really work that way in Egyptian lore as far as I know. If you're part God, you're a God, just more of a minor one probably not as powerful as one such as Ra, Isis, Bast, or Horus.

Pharaoh's were considered Demi-gods of sorts, though they didn't use the term. Because they were revered like Gods, but without their power.

Well, Bast will come into contact with mortals, though it's kind of a each God decides for themselves. It's not like in Greek mythology where seeing them in their full glory will kill a mortal.

As far as women go we don't need anything in particular. Though I'm sure there are plenty of Gods who would like a Priestess. Babi and Khonsu for example or even a Goddess. Bast has a priestess. Sekhmet might like one or Serqet.

Kebechet is one of the gods of death, she is (still) grieving for the death of her beloved Apep who was slain by Ra and Set, she has just recently nearly killed a priestess of Bastet by sinking her fangs into her neck and starting the mummification process while she was still alive and jamming her hand into the womans chest cavity to hold onto her heart (with the intention of ripping it out...but it didn't happen). She hates all of the gods, she is strict with mortals...and she is an all around sucky person to be around...most all of the other gods (including her father Anubis) cant stand her, and Bastet probably wont be nay happier then she was before with her...

So yeah...shes a bitch goddess in its every definition..... I hope that will better answer your question... XD
