Can't reach messages?

I recently got put on probation for a mistake I made (hoping to clear that up soon), and was wondering if not being able to reach my personal messages is an error, or a side effect of probationary status? When I click on my messages it say's there is an error, so I figured I'd ask to be certain.

Ah, thanks. :) I hope to put the issue to rest soon.

Do you happen to know if the probation set in stone? I'm fully aware I've made an error (now that it was pointed out to me), and just hope to correct it and move past it if at all possible.
