[Wolven Soul]

I loved the Wheel of Time. I felt that Brandon Sanderson did a good job taking over. Mat was definitely my favorite. I like scoundrels. :3 Almost all of the women were unbearable in it though. I think that Robert Jordan wanted like, a world not prejudiced by gender, but all his women just came off like overbearing man-haters rather than independent women. There are some exceptions, but in general the women of the Wheel of Time are a  grumpy bunch.

It's such a lovingly crafted setting. It's perfect for roleplay. I would love to do some one on one roleplay in this universe. I saw some intrepid souls forming a group thread, which sounds fun except I shy away from having more than one co writer. But yes!

One of the few women that didn't come off as you describe was Min, which was probably one of the reasons why she was my favorite female character in the books.

I loved Min too. But the problem with her is that I could never understand how any self respecting woman would only claim 1/3 of a man. :p I did like her very much though. That said, I think my favorite woman was probably Verin Mathwin, because she's just so damn sneaky and clever. I'll refrain from commenting further on her to avoid spoilers. And, after it's all said and done, Tuon wasn't all bad. I also gained respect for Egwene after she defended the White Tower from the Seanchan like a champion Amyrlin. Aviendha was pretty great too.

Wolven soul, eh? You sound like you might enjoy playing a wolfbrother! Incidentally one of my favorite fantasy powers. I've always kind of wanted to do a wolfbrother(warder)/AesSedai thread.

I'd go for that. The Wolfbrother is one of the coolest concepts in the series.

I agree with pretty much all of this. Many of the women characters just come of as...ugh. That was in the latter half of the series though, so you had to read a while before you get to see that happen. XD

I can understand that about Min, I always wondered about that myself.  And how Rand could go along with it.  Okay, well, maybe it is more understandable for him as he is a guy that gets to be with three gorgeous woman and...okay...yeah...totally a male response there, lol. 

I did like Verin a lot as well, and Morraine of course, loved her.  She was stern, she was strict and dedicated as hell and never came off as a man hater.  I can't say that I liked Tuon all that much though.  Not that she was not an interesting character, she was, very much so.  I just loathed the Seanchan, lol.  Absolutely fascinating culture though.  And yes, I loved Aviendha to.  Egwene though....uggh, could not stand her most of the time.  Respect, yes, like her....not so much.  I admired her for he struggles in becoming a true Amyrlin, but she seemed like one of the worst when it came to deriding the men.

As for playing a wolf brother.....YES PLEASE!!!  *ahem*  Sorry...Perrin was my favorite character in the books and I loved, LOVED the idea of a wolf brother.  A wolfbrother warder/Aes Sedai paring eh?  That sounds like a hellaciously good time.  If your ever seriously wanting to do it...I would love to throw my hat in that ring.  ;)

Just saw this thread and have to put my two cents in. I absolutely love the series. This is actually the reason the reason I got into rping, albeit accidentally.

I'll go ahead and answer the questions posed at the start for now.

Favorite book? Hmm.. Lord of Chaos, simply because of Dumai's Wells. Then again, the One Power was one of my favorite aspects. Especially the fighting weaves.

When all the characters were dying at the end and Rand was watching them, helpless.

Mat is likely my favorite character aside from Rand himself. He has that carefree attitude, yet always manages to do the right thing. Plus, his jokes had me laughing many a time.

And this one is probably the most common one, Winter's Heart. It just dragged on and on it seemed.

And I understand (and fully agree with) the love of Wolfbrothers but how do you all feel about Sniffers? I really liked the concept of being able to smell violence. Something about that just had potential to me.

Sniffers were cool, a very useful ability to have, though I don't envy them having it, the world has to smell fairly bad to them most of the time considering how violant it was.

For me, it was definitely a great series - certainly had it's slow moments.  And for a series like this, whereas a single novel might have a slow chapter or two, a 'slow moment' means possibly a whole book or two.  However, I have to say I was a LITTLE...  disappointed (is that the right word?) in the ending?  I'm not sure what I expected though.
