I find a picture I think would make a lovely avatar.  I save it, and go to upload it, but it's too big.  What now?

Lilias

What's the format? Normally, only a PNG could be too big at 150x200.

They're JPEG and they're bigger than 150x200.  It also says it could not be an avatar, but being technologically challenged, I have no idea what that means.  I just know my computer saves these things as JPEG.  Is there a way to change it?

Avatar icons are usually square or 'portrait' (taller than they are wide), so the system can reject a 'landscape' icon as an avatar.

You can crop the image to size (a good online image editor is here), and you'll find it uploads fine. :-)

Still not working :-(

Now it worked.....  It was the right size before, so now I'm just confused.

It can take a few moments for a new avatar to display (or a few refreshes).

The first time I just re-sized and it gave me the same error.  Then I cropped it to make it 'portrait' instead of square, and that worked.  I'm liking the image editor though, so thank you.  Even I can figure it out!
