China protesting as US sets up Anti Missile Defenses in South Korea.

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/china-paper-says-us-south-korea-will-pay-the-price-for-planned-missile-system/ar-BBwRi04?li=BBnbcA1&ocid=HPCOMMDHP15

Well if they kept North Korea under control then there wouldn't be a need for these defense systems.

TheGlyphstone

I don't think they understand the nature of a 'defense system' if they are threatening a 'counter attack'.

Iran now has their own drone, made from that one drone they captured back in 2011.

*Very slow applause* Good job, it only took you 5 years to make a replica of a fully intact Drone that had all of the work done already. Wow maybe in another 100 years we might actually be worried. :P

Donald Trump's Tax returns!

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/02/us/politics/donald-trump-taxes.html?_r=0

Apparently, he incurred a $916 million dollar loss in 1995, and may have not paid any income tax for nearly 2 decades afterwards.

Sorry, for no link.

In Columbia they voted "No" to a peace treaty with FARC.

October the 3rd: Polish women go on country-wide strike to protest the possible tightening of abortion laws.

Meanwhile, in a morning radio interview, the Minister of Foreign Affairs (PiS, of course) commented that the women's right aren't being threatened in Poland at all. When asked about the women that are protesting, he said: "Let them have fun".

Also, the PiS-run state TV plans to show an anti-abortion documentary this evening that claims that there's a direct link between abortion and Nazi eugenic laws...

When people start drawing the Nazi card at whatever they want to get a shot at in a debate, most often it means they have run out of real arguments.  ::) I've seen even the idea of a welfare state being claimed to have common roots with the Nazis (most recently this summer in a dementedly angry rant by a senior journalist, in the biggest social democrat newspaper in the country).

Both Hitler and Stalin had mustaches, therefore people with mustasches are evil.  >:)

The Swedish welfare state was tied with Per Albin Hansson and his idea of "folkhemmet" which began early in the 1920s and had a communist origin if anything (later history being a bit more complex). The journalist should be kicked by a boot of the proletariat worker (the steel-tipped ones!) for his transgression. ;)

Edit: Using the genetic fallacy by referencing eugenics, I find extremly humorus. Apt, in a way.

Mother of transgender child who committed suicide sueing the hospital where he was, saying the staff worsened his condition by calling him a 'Girl'.

According to the news, protests took place in many towns and cities. Here in Warsaw, there were at least 17 thousands of protesters.

Meanwhile, the Polish Catholic Church condemned the protests. One of the bishops called them "Black Gospel" and a sign of "civilization of death".

How should she go about it, exactly? Genuinely curious.

Her son was in a vulnerable state, and she was honest about her son's needs with the hospital staff. Purportedly, they agreed to respect his gender identity and failed to do so.

If her story is true, then she brought in a vulnerable young transman whom the hospital said they'd respect the identity of, only to have him repeatedly misgendered and treated in the very ways that often result in transmen feeling suicidal in the first place. Because seriously, that article is saying that a member of the hospital staff said to that young transman "Honey, I would call you a 'he,' but you're such a pretty girl."

That is not a good standard of care. Poking at the very center of why a person is hurting is the exact opposite of helping when someone is in a crisis.

What Bly said, basically. A much better more to the point and concise version of what I wanted to say. And I thought it through a lot.

Some reactions to yesterday's women protests in Poland:

1. Our Minister of Foreign Affairs continued being nasty, calling the protests "marginal" (even thought there were ten of thousands women protesting), as well as a "joke". Having heard that, even the Prime Minister decided to have a disciplinary talk to him... or so she claims.

2. As I mentioned earlier, the Polish Catholic Church condemned the protests. One of our archbishops, when in interviewed in TV, said that the women who took part in the protest were "afraid of life". He also said he wanted to tell them that "life is beautiful". When asked about pregnancies caused by rapes, he said that "there aren't that many of such cases", because (apparently) the rape-related stress makes it difficult for women to conceive. *headdesk*

3. One of our better-known Catholic publicists, in the course of the TV show he runs in the state TV, criticised one well-known female TV personality who supported the protests. "Criticised" isn't really a good word here - he actually compared her looks to that of a cow or a pig (because the woman is question is obese).

Aaaaargh! :(

Sounds like a Polish Bill O'Reilly. Maybe ask him if he knows why the tides come and go.
