Random Pathfinder Question

Our characters were transported sans gear to a pretty low tech world, where there isn't much access to metal.  I'm a transmuter and accomplished craft: alchemist; is there a way with these (or anything else, really) to create a simple block of metal?  (We have skills to work it, just not mine it)

I don't have a clue about the Pathfinder system, but if you can't mine it, wouldn't it be best to look for a place where the metal / ore is more accessible? Some vulcanic area where the earth might have spat out some nice chunks of ore, or maybe a place where a river has cut deep into the landscape, exposing some sedimentary deposits? If one of the characters has any knowledge about geology it might be too hard to find the right place to put your skills to work.
