'Cadre of Guardians'

of
Overwatch

Map of Peninsula city

Peninsula city is the fictional city where the fictional Federal agency of Overwatch is located in.   The city is located within the state of Florida.   Overwatch is akin to what SHIELD is in the Marvel Universe.   As the Cadre of Guardians or just known as the Cadre.   Is likewise akin to the Avengers of Marvel universe.

Command center of Overwatch

NPC  Captain Patricia Nichols,   Overwatch commander,  a 18 year veteran of the police force.  She is who the heroes report to as her job is running overwatch and the cadre of guardians in over seeing it all.   Other notable is her age is 40.   Athletic still keeps in great shape.

NPC  Doctor Elaina Shinto,  a genetics specialist is chief of scientific research within  Overwatch.    Elaina is young for her position as she is merely 35 years of age.   She has a rocking killer body.   Loves to show it off in terms of how she dresses in odd quirks.   Like showing up in pumps better or stilettos better suited for a stripper stage.   Or a party dress under her lab coat.  She beats to her own tune, much as like on NCIS.   Through her name implies Asian descent.  She is not her mother married her father (step father when she was two years old and her last name was legally changed to Shinto.)

The dirty of the game

This is a system game.   MM3, PL 10 / 150 point spend starting level.    https://sites.google.com/site/d20herosrd/home  Provided is a link for source material for building a character with open license.   http://www.myth-weavers.com  for a character sheet.  It is encourage that your hero have at least one weakness.

The style of game will be a not too dark gritty with touch of manga flare to the role play.   It will be held in NC-Exotic group game.   As there is always the chance some deep sea tentacle monster might assault the women err the city.

Age limit is no one under sixteen.   It is encourage no high school superheroes.  Such could limit ones role in actual action and fighting bad guys if one is stuck in a biology or English class.   Prefer no less then college for student characters.    The main plots of the game is not centered around sexual plot lines.  This does not preclude players from establishing relationships with fellow player characters or even with npc of the game.    In addition right now only one character for each player in the game.  Until the game is establish and has a solid foundation of background role play invested in creating a history.

Commitment of at least two post a week is looked for.   Through people can post more if want.   As the game evolves and history and backgrounds come in.    Slots may open up for people to play PL 5 level characters that are additional support around the heroes.

This a game in the spirit of comics under a system to allow players to create original characters and develop them and have fun.

Feel free to just say this is thinking harder about things than you were looking to deal with, just to note ;p

Okay I'm thinking being a creation of Frankenstein's Method known as Eve Frankenstein and will have drawbacks being clearly unnatural but be a living being, although not overly ugly kind of average. And scary in a fight with training and experience from fighting in WW2 and dedicated to fighting evil and supernatural forces. Her father was a Jewish scientist and mystic who made her to fight the Nazi's and he was killed by the SS after destroying the Journal of the Doctor and his lab. She was known as a horrific enemy of the Nazi's stopping many of their occult plans and super science programs. Then left for the wilds to live in peace for decades and returned to civilization but working out why.

I may need some help with her though.

Origins can be from any thing.  Mutant, alien, magic, a accident some cosmic event that turned your character into a superhero.    However, its not about a game with power levels of say like the Hulk or Superman.  Thus the PL 10/150 start.

To answer the other part of the question.  In our preparation in preparing for this game, which me and theVillain have been hashing out for past month.    One of the now antagonists was at one time a super hero from the 1940's of WW2 era.      So figure superheroes and/or enhanced super beings been around at least 75 years.

Back to the first part answered,  its open as it is a good source of material to help propel a game.   A player comes up with a alien superhero that has made its way to work.  From some Space Empire.  That could spark a story arc later in the game, as an example.   Or perhaps a race that comes from the center of the earth core.   Again sparking a story arc.

Mind if I toss a hat into the ring as well?

Sort of playing with a cyborg style idea in my head.

I'm interested in this game for sure. I have numerous character concepts spinning through my head right now, and I will surely settle on one before the night is out, thouhg i'm thinking a batman/spiderman-style crimefighter hero.

What sort of character would be most helpful, Elven?

I would like to create a character that's connected, and fits in.

Welcome Pumpkin Seeds, eternaldarkness & PhantomPistoleer.

I stress to everyone that has shown interest,  not expecting people to rush building their characters. Take your time a week to two weeks.   To flesh out your concepts and how it fits.

The other neither of the ST characters will be the leader of the Cadre of Guardians.  So we need a leader type a captain America,  a Batman that is leader amongst super power types.   Also talk amongst yourself to see how the team can be fleshed out.    Otherwise play the concept your more invested in wanting to play.

PhantomPistoleer

I'm not sure if I want to play a fish guy, a space guy, or a monster guy.  :/

Hello!

Thought I'd step and spice things up by telling you all a bit more about the two antagonists we mentioned, to help you all get a feel for the play world. Here's a little history for the reality impaired.

Mickey Blue-Eyes

He was born with the unassuming name of Mitchell Brown, but his life was anything but assuming. He wasn't the first metahuman by a long shot but he is the earliest known mutant that was obviously a mutant from birth. Mitchell Brown has been an albino since birth, except instead of the normal red or pink his eyes are a brilliant shade of blue.

His story begins back in World War 2. His mother got the telegram, a piece of paper claiming that her husband had been killed fighting Nazis. Falling into despair and depression, she eventually found conciliation as a moll of the 40's super-villain Dr. Blizzard. Except it was just a clerical error, her husband was actually still alive - and none to happy that his wife was pregnant with a super-villain's son when he got back. He waited until she had given birth, then kicked them both out on the streets.

Times were hard for a divorced woman with a son that was an obvious mutant, especially back before the civil rights movement. His first use of his cold-and-ice powers arose from a mugger that was trying to kill his mother, and with no other alternatives Mitchell had to go into crime just to survive. He'd fall in with a particularly bigoted mob boss that despised mutants and kept him as practically a slave, but it seemed like the only way.

Then the 60's hit, and young Mitchell Brown was recruited by the House of Cards - a super-villain team that sold itself as a metahuman friendly version of a traditional mafia ring. Mitchell betrayed his old boss and joined gladly, forming the first bonds he'd ever have with people he could call friends. Even family. Getting a proper costume, Mitchell Brown spent most of the 60's in a campy parka costume as the superpowered thief and enforcer for the House of Cards known as Mr. Blizzard. He'd frequently clash with the then Cadre, but that was a more innocent time. At least on the surface.

1968 was the year the Cadre was almost disbanded, and Mr. Blizzard was right at the thick of it. No other villain has ever come so close to ending the team, a little ice throwing nobody like Mr. Blizzard. But he had a good reason. Two other members of the House of Cards, Black Puma and Luna Moth, were secretly one of the first only recently legalized interracial married couples. Mitchell Brown was a close friend, the three of them often committed crimes together - Mitchell was the godfather of their children even. Four members of the then Cadre of Guardians - Major Victory, Tiger Man, Red Glare, and the Invisible Kid - found out about this and saw it as a threat to society. The 4 "heroes" hunted down Black Puma, beat him into a coma, then took turns sexually abusing Luna Moth.

You ask Mickey, he'll just tell you that he did what anyone who really considers themselves a friend would do. History shows that he gave up the campy parka for an expensive suit, then he hunted down the 4 offenders and brutally murdered all four of them, one at a time. You won't find records of a trial, he confessed to get the death penalty off the table. It took the legal system decades to acknowledge that Mickey Blue-Eyes was the only justice they were going to get, and Mickey didn't mind spending the time. Each day was an example to the world how horrible, racist, and downright awful so called "Law and Order" really was.

As an extra twist of fate, it was discovered that as a side effect of his powers, the aging of Mickey Blue-Eyes has been dramatically slowed. Chronologically and Mentally he's 70, but Physically he's still in his early-to-mid 20's. They let him out last year, partially just to acknowledge that Life Imprisonment could mean Centuries.

That was a mistake. Mickey Blue-Eyes went right back to his old ways, but bigger then ever. Determined to rebuild the House of Cards, this time however Mickey Blue-Eyes is the Boss. Quickly, he's becoming the most powerful criminal in Peninsula City, and going against him is like going against a Glacier.

Powers: Mickey Blue-Eyes isn't just the head of one of the fastest growing criminal organizations in the country, but he's also one of the most experienced Ice Elementals on the planet. He used to be called 'Mr. Blizzard' for his namesake ability to selectively suck heat out of the local atmosphere to create brief-lived but intense Blizzards. He can, and has, recreated conditions comparable to a Siberian Winter in a Florida Summer. He can also create structures out of ice by selective freezing of water and certain compounds in the air to make objects of incredible detail including Poker Chips, Ashey Cigarettes, Riot Shields, and even a briefly lived working Snow-Mobile.

Most notoriously however, Mickey Blue-Eyes can generate "blasts" of cold so frigid that it can freeze a 240 pound human male completely solid in 1.4 seconds - and the Florida prison system has the footage to prove it. Fortunately, Mickey seems hesitant to do this outside of kill-or-be-killed situations. Usually he uses this to weaken objects like vault doors instead, but the Ice Man has killed before and can be pushed to do it again.

Downshift
This may come as no surprise, but Blake Dawson's father was a good cop - but a lousy father. Officer Ulrich Dawson took no bribes, did everything by the book, and kept his ear to the ground like all cops should. He also took his frustrations out on his wife and kids whenever anything remotely bad happened to him at work. The man even once got into the secret warehouse where they keep confiscated super-villain weapons and got a heat gun to burn Blake once, just for shoplifting a candy bar! Blake's glad the old man died on the line of duty, but he lived long enough that Blake figured out how the old man got in. Blake's not stupid, and when pressed he can definitely plan a good heist. It took time to get all the pieces together but when he got in Blake knew what he was looking for, letting all his compatriots get caught as he slipped away.

Back in the 80's there was a serial killer supervillain that somehow got his hands on time manipulating technology. So let's be fair here, as the unofficial inheritor of of the Clockstopper's mantel, Downshift could be a LOT worse. He wasn't stupid either, he took his time to learn about what he'd taken. How it worked, how to fix it when it was damaged, how to reconfigure it. Which he did figure it out he made sure to change it so he didn't give off the serial killer vibe quite so much. It used to look a lot worse, trust him on that.

He was finally ready a few years ago, and Blake donned his suit for the first time. Now stealing things is almost too easy, and he can finally live the easy life.

See, that's the thing people don't get about Downshift. He is aware that with his suit he has the power to be an absolute terror, to take over the world and wipe out cities and all that. He knows he can do that, he doesn't want to. What's the point of all that drama? No, Downshift is all about looking out for number one, maybe getting a little tail in the process.

Powers: Downshift's suit is a reconfigured version of the original gear used by the terrifying time-based killer known as the Clockstopper. Downshift in comparison is mostly just a thief. His suit gives him the ability to "Downshift" time relative to himself. In effect, Downshift can give himself relatively short bursts of an artificial form of superhuman speed via time manipulation. He doesn't have the stamina of a true speedster, but he does have a few other advantages that make up for it. For example, the camouflage systems of his suit combined with the speeds he can move at effectively render him invisible when he's "Downshifted" as long as he keeps moving. He's also far more durable then the average speedster if ever caught standing still as the suit utilizes temporal vibrations for a shielding effect.

Mostly he uses his powers to just steal things and is relatively harmless for a villain, he can even be convinced to help out in some dire situations. It's also horrifyingly easy for him to figure out someone's secret identity, a fact he's aware of but doesn't seem to capitalize on.

So, does anybody else wanna be leader guy, or can I shoot for that role? :D

Right now, i'm at a toss-up between a Batman/Spiderman crimefighter/Vigilante-type guy, and an Iron man-style powersuit guy. Anyone wanna start working out character interrelations and such?

Also, love the villains.

EDIT: OH man, i really love Mickey Blue-Eyes. I kinda wanna have my character with some connection to him, or maybe his former partners Black Puma and Luna Moth.

Pumpkin Seeds

Feel free on the leader role.  Sort of thinking a tank style for mine.  I kind of have this idea of a woman who had a more traditional super power and maybe was a kind of Golden Age type heroine.  Then something happened, so accident or horrible attack that left her depending on machines to survive.

And if you're thinking of having a connection to Mickey Blue-Eyes, feel free. I can easily imagine that from Black Puma and Luna Moth, Mickey Blue-Eyes has surprisingly healthy and warm relationship with a superhero God-child.

Yes, He'd actually be okay with that - Mickey's a mobster but he's an old-school mobster with a thing about Family.

Can I play with your history for Mickey/Puma/Luna a bit? Or rather, play off of it? I have a GREAT idea for a character concept now.

I'd love too see what you have in mind. And I think as long as your character isn't Mickey's biological son I think we might be able to work with it.

Damn. Back to the drawing board then.

Bummer.

Yeah, in full honestly I'm considering a bit of story in which another side effect of Mickey's powers is that he's basically sterile. So it work best for me if no character was literally Mickey's son, but there's more then one way to be family. A character that has Mickey as a Godfather instead, perfectly fine.

I'm also considering just how true the rumors are that Downshift occasionally blackmails super-heroines for sex. I'm thinking it'll remain just a rumor but if one of our ladies specifically requests it, then maybe...

No biggie. I'll just go with one of my many other ideas. What i had in mind doesn't have that same visceral emotion if it's just a godparent connection.

Jessica Hitomi Washington/"Atemi"

Gregory Washington was a consummate Japanophile.  His wife, Naomi, practically had to wrestle with him to keep him from giving his daughter the first name Hitomi.  They came up with a compromise.  Jessica—for Naomi's grandmother as her personal name—with Greg's favorite name for her middle name.

Along with being a gamer and a fan fiction writer, Greg made a career in the army.  He always pushed for posts in Japan.  This wasn't just for his fandom, he had a martial arts sensei in Tokyo whom he loved studying under.  He learned kenjutsu, aikijutsu, and atemi under the man.  He taught these skills to Jessica and—during their years on base in Tokyo, she joined him.

Jesica spent a lot of time with her family growing up, her parents and  her younger sisters, twins named   Adele and Madison.  Not only were they a lot of fun, she knew she wouldn't move away from them in two years or less.  She studied hard and graduated from a high school in El Paso as valedictorian.  Her father was so proud he was going to buy her a very nice car, 'til he discovered something he knew she'd love even more.

With the help of an art dealer, he was able to acquire an authentic katana.  The art dealer who sold it to him could show evidence that it had been wielded by one of the 47 ronin.

Even at 21,000 dollars, he got it for a steal.  When other art dealers confirmed the authentication, Greg assumed the dealer was covering up some damage it had suffered.  The rumor that it was haunted was ridiculous.

More to come.

Slowly piecing together my character.  Thus far I am working with the name Meredith Winter, formerly Comet Girl, a live action reality star.  Except a villian took issue with her exploits and her proposed abilities and made an example of her on live television.  He forced the camera to keep rolling as he publicly humiliated and brutalized.  Left broken and damaged, she was picked up by a government program that was working with cybernetic implants.  Her body was highly durable and strong which made her a prime candidate for the experimental surgery.  Now she has returned still possessing her previous abilities plus those gifted to her by the multiple surgeries.

Jessica loved the gift so much she cried in her cap and gown in front of the whole school.

With a full scholarship to the university in Peninsula City, Jessica had for the first time in her life a chance to be in one place for more than a year or two.  She declared a double major in creative writing and computer science.  She wasn't sure how to get close to people.  She sometimes confided to some online friends that she would go to other dorm rooms and play video games, or to the anime club, and feel alone in the middle of it all.

Some online friends assured her that she'd work through it in time, it was easy to be shy when your social environment changed dramatically.  She took heart and kept trying to be social, but on the inside, she fell deeper and deeper into her dreams.  (They made great short story fodder!)   She found herself a samurai in feudal japan, living the life of a former wielder of the katana, fighting battles both mundane and mythic.  She wielded her katana against other samurai, gaijin, and ogres.

Her katana, and lightning cast from her hands!

In her dreams, the power grew, like the fury of a storm in her nerves.  Sometimes, she thought she could feel the charge building in her when she touched the katana.

Near the end of her first year, with the stress of finals bearing down on her, the dreams became so vivid she would wake up feeling electricity pulsing in her fingers.  In the middle of a terific lightning storm, Jessica woke in the wee hours of the morning.  She ran out onto the quad in a man's shirt and panties, carrying the katana.  She drew it and—for the first time—wielded it, performing advanced forms in the sheeting down rain.

Jessi felt like she was going to burst.  She danced through the forms faster and faster, feeling like lightning was arching through her body.

When she threw back her head and screamed, katana out to the side in one hand, Jessi didn't know if the lightning struck her from the heavens, or arched form her body into the sky.

Yes, a man's voice whispered into her soul.  Like that, Hitomi-chan.  Finally, someone strong enough to inherit my power...

Wow, that's a tough act to follow. I'm going to have to change my concept a bit to avoid overlap now. very cool though.

Kolbrandr

Not.. quite the vibe I was looking for for supers, feel free to open up my slot. Thanks though, and good luck with things.

eternaldarkness

yeah, i'm going to back out of this one too. Too many magic-based characters already (i hate seeing more than one magic character on a team in a supers game), and no niches left that i'm interested in filling. Best of luck, guys.

Kolbrandr

just to say, it's not for player concept stuff, don't anyone feel like they need to redo or such, it's more for the overall feel that comes off the villains, it's just not my bag. Anyway, again, honestly do hope it goes well, just didn't want to depart on a wrong impression.

Crash

I was planning on not making a magic character.  I thought about it originally but came up with an alternate origin story I like better.

I like to stress, its about what each one wants to play.   Their desire to create and see through, as the character grows.   I rather have a group of players happy with their concept.   More invested in the character.  Instead of settling for something they did not at first wanted to play.

So in speaking on characters,  so far looking good.   A bent towards mystic/magic derived powers with a few.   That is fine,  through it could cause a problem if run into a villain that can cutoff mystical power connections.

Also with the motivations,  weakness etc...   Anyone can take an enemy and it doesn't have to be one of the two villains listed.   Just shoot me or theVillain a PM on the concept of the character's villain antagonist.   So we can get the villain done up and just perhaps that villain may pop up at in opportune times for the hero and/or team.

Likewise if you create a  weakness with having a dependent.  I.E Aunt May with Spiderman.    On these just go ahead and do a sheet up as per their age as a normal human being.

Muse

Meep!

I was looking forwards to playing with you all.

I honestly didn't think of Atemi's powers as 'magical'.  i was originally just digging for a triggering event to kick on her meta human DNA.  The idea that someone else had had similar superpowers in the mythic past and now imparted those to her was where I went with it.

This is some concept art I am thinking of for the look of my hero.

Going to use a combination of Energy Control: Darkness and Speed powers.  He is going to be the result of an accident with experimental extra-dimensional technology.

I will find and actual person for the character too since we seem to be taking those too.

Updated character proposal 5/3/2015:
Throwing my hat in the proverbial ring--

Ally Rodriguez, aka Fetter
Ally was raised on-base in Ft. Bragg, Pine Gap, Stuttgart-- an all-American army brat with a healthy rebellious streak. She was an accomplished athlete even in her youth, and by her teenage years it looked as though she was destined for a college scholarship despite her unremarkable grades.  Reacting, perhaps, to her rigid home-life, she sometimes had trouble toeing the line and had her share of discipline issues.  She had two brothers, many base friends, a few semi-serious boyfriends, a Boston Terrier-- but most things were normal, and she cached her daddy issues in favor of the distractions of teenage life.

Her life fell apart, however, when her father, a decorated Ranger, was recruited for a physiological enhancement program.  Aimed at producing soldiers capable of contending with the super-powered villains who had begun to emerge as a threat to national security, the program's effects were immediately successful, producing stronger, faster, quicker-thinking troops who were capable of enduring increasing dangers and surviving.  After a few months of intensive training, her father returned to normal base life-- but things didn't stay normal.

As time went on, aberrations in each recruit's powers seemed to appear, as well as changes in their behavior-- inhuman strength coupled with paranoid rage, x-ray vision coincided with personality changes, heat resistance manifested along with perversions and abnormal appetite.  Things got out of hand; a subject on-base with Ally's father went AWOL and was found a week later in a pool of blood and pile of mangled body parts, laughing as she broke her playmates' bones one by one with her bare hands.  A colonel's girlfriend drowned in the middle of White Sands desert, miles from the nearest water source.   A lieutenant's neighbors were found burned to death in their pristine home with no sign of a fire-- all project candidates were recalled for in-house supervision and psych testing.

Ally's father behaved strangely too... seemingly obsessed with nonsensical phrasing and theoretical math, all culminating with her family's kidnapping by her father when he was supposed to be taken under observation.  He was a different man-- aggressive, controlling, demanding.  He became physically abusive and highly anxious, disappearing for days at a time, building caches of supplies, and obsessed with internet conspiracy theories.  The experience was traumatic for the family, but basic counseling could determine no issue, and her father seemed to expertly mask his symptoms for outsiders.

For Ally herself, she endured a similar abuse as the others, but her father demonstrated more aggressive means of control.  He did not physically attack her, but at times he arranged schedules with family and colleagues so that he would have time alone with her some evenings... during these nights, he would drug her with a strong sedative, something with memory-affecting side-effects, restrain her, and administer forced transfusions of some design.  She never determined the exact contents, but from what she could tell in her haze of whatever drugs he used to pacify her, she saw him drawing his own blood, injecting strange serums into the samples, and re-injecting them into her.  The man had no prior knowledge of organic chemistry.  Later, after extensive counseling, she would suspect that this is because, like him, her blood type was O+.

As his aggression and paranoia grew, his control gradually slipped.  The family banded together and reported his abuses-- which were extensive, with Ally bearing the least of his aggression.  MPs took him into custody, but on the official record of incidents and his incarceration, domestic violence was only described in vague overtones... instead, they cited bogus charges, fed the family "official memos", and essentially kept him permanently out-of-contact.  The family received a typed letter "from him" once a week for a while and were assigned counseling and support for his "PT breakdown"... but they knew the truth, and they were terrified of it.  They sought private counseling, and they kept their mouths shut to anyone else.

All the members of her family were affected physically and mentally by the ordeal, and neither the Army nor the Federal Government are admitting her father's fate or location.  The family was given a sizable pension fund and relocated to Jacksonville, Florida to be nearer to relatives.  What had been a rebellious streak in her seemed to amplify-- she became confrontational, withdrawn, socially aggressive, and unpredictable.  Citing the traumatic experience as the most likely cause, her mother sought counseling for her, and Ally tried to control/redirect her anger through physical exercise and experimental drug use.  Over the next few months, Ally began to develop strange abilities beyond her natural talent-- she became faster, she recovered from workouts quicker.  She hadn't gained mass, but she kept adding weights to her strength workouts.  She kept running after a 5k cross-country race because she wanted to "humiliate the bitch that was eye-fucking her".  She seemed to need less sleep-- which was good, because she had increasingly frequent nightmares, uncontrollable thoughts, and was often out all night-- and her grades didn't even suffer, a fact that baffled her teachers... she remained a C-B student with no motivation to improve her scores.

Then, things got weird.

She could exert force beyond most people's physical capacity.  She no longer got sick, and she never sunburned.  She was struck by a cyclist on a walking path and emerged unhurt-- despite the cyclist breaking a couple bones and requiring multiple stitches.  Her power grew, and she went from leaping great distances to being able to actually levitate.  Blood testing was inhibited, because syringes couldn't pierce her skin.  X-rays and CT scans couldn't seem to pierce her tissue successfully enough to get a read on anatomical causes.

Of course, she gained the attention of authorities-- the military tried to recover her quietly, and various private-sector groups sought to harness her abilities in the hopes of being able to "manufacture" next-evolution humans.  She rebelled, and her family fought to preserve her freedom through legal means, but she was taken by the NSA for study.  In a moment of terror and anger, she snapped... her powers took control, and she made a violent escape.

Refusing to yield to authorities, she went on the lam.  She committed a string of petty crimes and avoided capture for over three years, escaping the public eye entirely as well as the custody of law-enforcement agencies and that of her family's private inquiries.  By her twenty-first birthday, Overwatch had picked up her trail and pursued her to Peru.  She is supposed to have spent her time in exile as a hermit, learning meditation and physical control in an effort to chain her raging emotions and physical urges... it's not clear what she was doing, or where, or with whom, but Ally was coherent and remorseful enough to surrender herself to Overwatch's custody as part of a carefully crafted legal deal orchestrated by Cpt. Patricia Nichols.

She has agreed to collaborate with the team and use her powers under their supervision and authority.  She undergoes regular counseling-- an increasingly important part of her treatment, since her physiology no longer seems to respond to normal medications that might help her.  She easily completed her high school equivalency examination and is enrolled in online college courses.  But as of yet, she has not opened up to her team personally.

Eve Frankenstein

The Doctor created the first of us the Creature known as Frankenstein,
a brain taken from an abnormal mortal and he was shunned.
My father the late Doctor Goldman gave me life using the Journal
the mind of his daughter and bodies of the dead to fight evil.
He was killed by the SS early in the war but not before I was given
this life that flows through me the power of eels charging my
life force.
I joined my brother Creature I called Adam and we struck back
with a fury against those who committed atrocities against
God and man.
He fell in battle saving me against many foes armed with the
super weapons of science at the time.
Now I stand alone against Darkness again and for mortal humans
even though shunned by them,
I am a Frankenstein Creature, I am Eve.

Not sure of her exact build she'll likely be really tough and more quick than the bigger male creature being a harmless female one. LOL. Powers likely resistances, immortality and regeneration the immortal life force of the Frankenstein Process and Advantages largely her fighting tactics, a few key skills and gear including a signature cool as hell weapon her Two-Section Staff (big nunchaku).

Eve looks good so far.    I think should take a look at the archtype construct  use that build as a reference starting point.   Then can tweak it to fit the concept of a Frankenstein creation.

No I picture her as a living being, Frankenstein's Creature was a genius in a grotesque body he could in the novel understand Greek and Latin and was very literate and well in the book and movies damned hard to kill permanently likely the only way to do that would be to drain off the Lightning Force properly and then break up the parts not easy without the Journal used to form her.

I'm bouncing just around how she fights I can go weapons skill in a main weapon and unarmed combat, brute force upgrading her form and raw abilities with some Advantages and skills or tough form and an actual power the superhero comic book version likely hurling lightning all have charm.

Crash

Background:

Daniel Black was a rising star in the field of quantum mechanics.  His graduate work had won international recognition as breakthrough work in the field of extra dimensional theory.  He was snatched up immediately after earning his PhD by Deep Water Industries, a leader in cutting edge science and technology.  It was here that Daniel met his fiancée Milly Nocturne.  They were part of an R&D group tasked with finding an unlimited source of extra-dimensional energy.  It took a year but the team was sure they had found a break through.  Using new theories in dark energy and anti-matter Daniel formulated a way to breach the shadow dimension where dark matter and energy originated and leaked into our reality.  Extra funding and personal were dedicated to the project and a prototype breach, extraction and containment facility was in place in surprising little time.

The owner/president and the entire board of directors was onsite for the initial breach, but something went horribly wrong with the containment field.  The ensuing explosion destroyed the small facility located on an isolated island out of the Keys.  The owner/president of Deep Water Industries, Lucas Shrike survived, but many of the board of directors and much of the research staff did not.  The extent of the accident was covered up by Deep Water Industries and Daniel as the only (known) surviving member of the research team was blamed for the accident.

Daniel and Milly were closest to the containment field at the time working desperately to keep the field for exploding.  While Daniel miraculously survived Milly did not.  She was completely vaporized by the explosion (or so he thought).  Days after the explosion Daniel began experiencing strange dreams and waking visions as the shadow energy he had been exposed to changed him.  Daniel was now a creature of multiple dimensions.  He has since used those abilities in an attempt find out what actually went wrong with the experiment.  These attempts caught the attention of Overwatch and he was recruited with the assurance that he would be able to continue his investigation into the accident.

Deep Water Industries/Order of Shadows
Daniel wasn’t the only person changed from the exposure to the Shadow Dimension.  Lucas Shrike and the surviving board of directors were too.  Lucas’s exposer gave him insight into the nature of Shadow energy and he has used this to create a new form of shadow technology.  He sells some of this technology to the government, but keeps the best for his own organization, the Order of Shadows. Lucas’s company got its start-up funding from organized crime.  Being beholden to the mob as always rankled Lucas.  A bit of a megalomaniac before his transformation Lucas’s mastery of shadow energy has broadened his delusions of grandeur.  Now dubbing himself Master of Shadows Lucas has used his shadow technology as a new weapon in the war to become the only criminal organization in Peninsula City.

Lucas Shrike/Master of Shadows

Milly Nocturne/Midnight
Milly wasn’t vaporized in the accident. She was shifted from our dimension to the Shadow Dimension.  Completely isolated and faced with beings completely alien to her Milly’s mind eventually broke from the alien influences she encountered there.  Her insanity brought new insight into the realm and the hive mind that found her wandering in their world.  Milly was connected to the hive, but her human mind though shattered infected the creatures.  They no longer followed there queen and only followed Milly’s commands.  The human part of her was still desperate to find a way home and the hive known as The Hex set about doing just that.  The pain, loneliness and isolation of her time has twisted her mind into a hatred of both Deep Water Industries and Daniel Black who she has convinced herself betrayed her and left her to die.  It is only a matter of time until Milly and her Hex find a way into our reality again to seek out their revenge.

Welcome Ixy,  the character writeup looks good so far.

Thank you for the opportunity to apply.  I have added additional detail to the background and updated the original interest post.  If there's anything else you'd like us to add, I'll be glad to.  Also, if you want to discuss any details of her background that I haven't yet included (like her 3-year exodus), let me know what you'd like... otherwise I wanted to start out a bit of an outsider "Paragon" with a shady past and questionable motivations.

Biography:  Citizen is an android.  His body is composed of experimental composites of steel and plastic.  His ambitions are composed of codified binary.  But Citizen is more than just an android because within him lies the dormant spirit of a man.  The experiment that bound machine and soul was a resounding success.  At the same time, it was an utter failure because the brave man that empowered the mechanical husk with heroism was lost.

This is not lost on Dr. Jennifer Howe.  She was responsible for Citizen's creation.  But she did not set out to create a great superhero.  She initially set out to save her brother.

Det. Johnny Howe was a detective for the NYPD.  He specialized in white collar crime, and was about to transfer to the FBI when he was killed in action.  Before he passed away, his brain pattern was downloaded and inserted into Dr. Howe's android.

Showing interest, I want to repurpose an old M&M character I didn't really get to play much (and could probably use to revisit in the build-area), but I need to figure out what I'm doing with some other games first…

The Original Concept was basically an outsider, alien or extra-dimensional, that wants to be 'worshiped' as a hero.

General Question: Just a double-check here, when it says:

"The total of your hero’s ______ and ______ defenses cannot exceed twice the series power level."

Is that referring to the total bonus? IE at power level 10 we can have +20.

or the total Defense Class? IE at power level we can have +10, because the total is calculated as 10 + Defense.

The second, correct?

QuoteDodge & Toughness: The total of your hero’s Dodge and Toughness defenses cannot exceed twice the series power level.

Parry & Toughness: The total of your hero’s Parry and Toughness defenses cannot exceed twice the series power level.

Fortitude & Will: The total of your hero’s Fortitude and Will defenses cannot exceed twice the series power level.

This part; the language is kind of vague and to me there are three possible ways of reading that.

1. A + B = PL x2

2. A = PL x2

3. A +10 = PL x2

Reworking my girl into more of a flying character.  Still has her arm cannon and missiles though.  Keep her strong and tough, but more acrobatic in the air.

Edited my villains a bit, mostly to get rid of Downshift's blackmail-for-sex angle.

Full Disclosure - I thought a few of our lady friends will really like that naughtiness angle but I don't seem to have any takers. Creep is fine for a villain but unnessecary Creep is just rude. :P

Is there still a slot open?  I have a few concepts...

A self-made golden age legacy hero... a historian or detective finds a golden age hero's hideout and gear during her research and adopts the identity to deal with a crime she'd been working on (or had just discovered).  Something like Phantom Lady, a couple of supplementary gadgets (Darkness and invisibility) on top of conventional guns and martial arts.

A werewolf or other anthro sort, someone who was cursed to become a mindless beast and then cured by a sorcerer... of the mindless part, she's stuck in that form for good.  She helped out the sorcerer for a while on his adventures, acting as the muscle, but now wants a more "normal" life.  She'd have a magic item with a "nothing to see here" field that'd let her walk around without people freaking out at the seven foot werewolf.  For a little while at a time.  Mostly.

Someone who found or was given a powered armor suit to keep it out of the evil organization that created or discovered it.. or rather, the only part of it that they had.   It has a gravitic force field that provides flight, defense and super strength.  The downside is that she can't wear much under the force field!

If you do either of the first two Eve Frankenstein could use an ally, the second would be best if she is ageless to, after all both would be walking monsters in a world of normal people.

My character is coming along slowly, I'm leaning to a powerful raw character with advantages and some powers mostly tough and some advantages. Skills will be few Jack of All Trades will represent her decades of living in the world so would know a lot but will develop a few likely stealthy skills and athletics. Her profession would be an odd job sort mostly laborer. But did do government work so would be tied to a government agency kind of.

I do need some advice on her signature weapon should I take:

Two-Section Staff: Think a big nunchuks.

Big Club: A hammered out old part of a Nazi Mega-weapon she kept.

Chain with Weights: Long chain with weights on the end larger and heavier needing unnatural levels of strength.

Big Gun: A big gun either a sawed off end light cannon or 50 caliber machine gun backed by a non-nonsense brutal unarmed combat capability.

Cestus: Hammered out brass knuckles or lined sap gloves with chain wrapped about it or something equally impressive.

Crash

I am always a fan of the big club.  She could carry around a set of free weights to throw at people.

Well, originally I was going to go with my old M&M character who's game fizzled out: Lady Radiance, but she's more of an alien / outsider sort of deal and seeing how lots of the others, villains included, are going to be going with more technological based heroes (and because I remembered her while I was reshuffling Radiance's powers) I'm currently leaning more toward my really old character Copper Rose, who's more of a cyborg / inventor.

I find myself torn, what'd you guys think?
Who do you think would fit the game's theme better? Or just general opinions on who would you be more interested in seeing?

Oh I got an idea a big club and gun put together. into one kewl weapon. I'll have enough equipment points for some kind of armor costume and one weapon that is bad ass.

D12

Slipshade was one of the reasons I was leaning away from Radiance. 'Yes, lets team up the shadow-guy and the woman literally made out of light.' (Woman shines a summer's day within 60ft of her)

I'm also not sure what / how Radiance would interact with the other characters, other than being condescending 'cause they're all human and humans live short pitiable insignificant lives barely made worthwhile by recognizing how awesome she is.

With all the technological characters I think there could be some fun interactions; I could see Rose complaining that Citizen should be more mechanical and less fleshy part, because she sees his primary function as combat and she's big on form following function.

One thing I do want to double check on because it's always been one of the blurry lines:

Powers = infinite uses, can be nullified but not 'removed', cannot be used by anyone but the PC, and return immediately after nullification effect ends.

Devices = infinite uses, can be removed, do not function for anyone but the PC, and are replaced at no additional cost if lost or destroyed.

Equipment = infinite uses, can be removed, functions for anyone who has it, and is replaced at no additional cost if lost or destroyed.

Invention = one use, can be removed, functions for anyone who has it, and requires a new check / expenditure to replace if lost or destroyed

I'll second that... since she's quite strong, she could have a short cannon or heavy rifle with a very thick, reinforced barrel that can be used to club people without damaging it.

The big difference between devices and equipment is that equipment is realistic, mundane gear, things that could be bought off the shelf.  Cars, guns, knives, that sort of stuff.  It also has less "plot immunity" than devices as far as getting damaged or lost.  There's some overlap, of course, and you could buy a special gun or knife as a Removable power.

Inventions and rituals are one-scene creations... once you make the check, you have it for that scene, barring Complications and such.  After that, you'd start over.

Are inventions one scene or one use?

What with the whole design check and then the craft check they struck me as the sort of thing you get to make during downtime, and then get a one-shot use of sometime later.

Like making an invention that nullifies a specific enemy's specific power for some amount of time. You make it back in your lab after studying the enemy, and then use it once before it blows up or shorts out or is otherwise rendered unusable because it was just a prototype.
Quote from: Angiejuusan

I think it is one use.  If you want a multiple use invention you have to pay the PP to make it a device.  However that one use thing can (and often does) get abused by players (Quickness + Inventor/ritualist = OP) so most GM's that I know limit invention and ritual in some ways.  Heck I know a lot of GM's that just flat out ban both of those feats.

This might mark me as a total nerd, but I can actually think of one instance in comics where Quickness + Inventor got used.

Kid Flash... 3? I think it was 3. The one who was previous Impulse.
He had an eidetic memory and could remember anything he read, so he read an entire library. At one point he got into the future and read up on all the blue prints and stuff for future tech, spent the next couple days super-speed building just, everything... stuff he didn't even know what did.

I think the GM / Writers blew up his room after that, and declared that any information he gleamed from being in the future was slowly 'fading' out of his head as the future changed.

I always saw it as more of a 'in case of the unforeseen' feat. Like making an AoE that disables Downshift's superspeed cause none of us have superspeed and therefore can't keep up.

Although, and keep in mind that Copper Rose is kinda from that phase where you make dumb stuff cause it sounds cool, in her original campaign she just used Invention & her huge Tech bonus to build a little mini-bomb that I called the 'Anti-Cherry Cherry Bomb' because it was supposed to use anti-matter... it was just like... ridiculous area, ridiculous damage... come to think of it, it probably broke the Power Level limit. But it was supposed to be the thing evolution of the thing she was working on when she blew herself up and lost her arm. *shrug*

Here we go...

"Once the invention is complete, it is good for use in one scene, after which it breaks down or runs out of power. If the character wishes to use the invention again, there are two options." (Buy it with CP or spend a hero point to use it for a second scene).

A little Quickness for mental/inventing tasks can be reasonable, but yeah, if you can do it instantly, it can be trouble.

Here's what I have so far including her signature weapon and a chain-mail coat lined leather coat with sewn areas and layered patches to hide the armor both made of Hard-to-Obtainium well the German technical name is that picked up in a Nazi laboratory it was some of their projects the weapon formed from two sections of metal and chain of the material and a little creativity. And a little mundane gear she'll be working to add to later.

Her powers are basic movement to get around, some defense fitting the classic monster strong points and a formidable raw form and decent mind and psyche.

I figured she doesn't have much right now being basically what she had picked up over the decades she lived and her training trying a little of everything not requiring a license.

Yeah, it does sound like it can be pre-made like I thought; although I guess it just fizzles out after the scene rather than one use. Which; honestly seems like kind of the same thing, but I guess if you wanted to make an Invention Affects Incorporeal Damage to go ghost busting or something you'd have it for the whole ghost-fight-scene, which is nice.

Well I wasn't trying to imply an all tech group.  Simply that we all find a common ground and theme here to work along.  For instance if your character is a scientist, maybe have him know of or be part of the projects that contributed to our characters.  Maybe sort of build a company that has created these technological marvels and maybe put that into the game.  Maybe even make them a villian.  I don't know..it seems the GMs are quite open to our ideas and input in this world as well.

Awesome.  That is all I was saying is that we should probably move now toward tying all these characters together.  I'd have no problem having my character's cybernetics placed by such a company.  At the time she was being rebuilt she would have been very vunerable.

Take a look at the Background and Deep Water Industries below and see if it will work for you.

Slipshade

Copper Rose was meant as a sort of tech-head; brief version of her general backstory is she's a child science / engineering prodigy who blew herself up trying to make something complicated out of spare parts, then decided that she didn't like having a mannequin arm in place of the one she blew off so she built herself a better one. She's into things that are probably too dangerous for her to be messing with, and the kind of snob that comes from being a 17 y.o with a college-level degree. She's kind of a know-it-all and generally acts like she knows more than anyone else, and while she's a technically genius she still has the sort of general 'teenager' sense of things and doesn't really recognize the difference between 'things that are dangerous' and 'things that are too dangerous.'

She favors function over form and so her stuff tends to be really ugly but really functional. I want to describe her plasma thrower as 'the bastard spawn of a flamethrower and a steampunk piranha.' Being 'ugly' is sort of one of her things since she's walking around with this auto-mail arm 24/7.

I was actually thinking Rose might be the group's leader / Iron Man. She doesn't have her own corporation or anything, but she's supposed to have stuff like military contracts that gives her access to stuff secured information. She's got Wealth 2 an Security Clearance 2, with the idea that she's already making more money than most adults do; and has emancipated herself from her parents so they don't exploit that. (They never supported her anyway; particularly after she blew off her own arm. They had the best of intentions but like most teenagers she resents them anyway.)

Lady Radiance's short-version backstory on the other hand is more of a fell / came to earth for undisclosed reasons a really long time ago, and stuck around because she likes being around people who revere her. I go back and forth on how long she's been on earth, either since slightly-before humanity was a thing, or just within the past couple of years. She's mainly in the hero racket because superheroes are this century's gods; and before I revamped her she even had stuff like Benefit: Wealth and Benefit: Status to represent being the figure head of a brand name, I kind of still figure she is that but just figure she doesn't care about having the money, so like. 'Lady Radiance brand sports-drink' donates her cut to charity and makes a big deal about it so everyone knows how generous and kind and pure she is.

If I went with Radiance and had her go with the 'been on earth since slightly-before humans were a thing' I wanted to ask if she could be someone who executed / murdered in combat / generally killed some of the previous-age supervillains. Despite her whole 'pure as light' thing Radiance is supposed to be one of those 'Light is not Good' characters and will straight up kill her enemies if given half the chance. Human lives are just a glimmer to her anyway.

She's meant to be more of a 'Thor' than Iron Man, with maybe a little Captain America mixed in to get that 'been around for freaking ever and has her own trading cards' thing.

Crash  I like the writeup and all that you have put into creating Slipshade.

Especially the Dark Water industries.   One of the major hooks in the game planned is in addition.   To having the normal megalomaniacs super villains.    Was to introduce a mercenary corporate teams.   That are neither good or bad as in hero vs villain concept.  Their objectives follow what is best for the corporation,  which often falls on the wrong side of the law.

So far the board went from discussing to much magic based to perhaps too much technology.     Which does not seem the case.   I see the technology based characters falling into two distinct categories.     Technology which to me means cybernetics,   equipment and enhancements.     Then the other half, science.   Where they through accident or gene manipulation have been transformed to have super powers.   You could also add a third alien technology or physiology.

The weakness clarification.     Character complications;  1st motivation what has driven your character to become a hero and now drives them.   2nd a complication that effects your character.   I.E.  Secret ID,  a dark secret  of your past.   A dependent such as a aunt May.    You can have more then just the two.

Crash

Thanks for the clarification ESG.

D12 - Not sure bitchy, spoiled (seeming) teenager no matter how smart = team leader. ;). That said Slipshade is not the leader type either.

Oh but alcoholic playboy billionaires can be team leaders? :P

I figured it would be sort of an 'Iron Man' thing, with some NPC / GM 'Nick Fury' character being the technical leader, and Rose is just in charge because she orders people around.

Sitting at the head of the meeting table; arms crossed over her chest, kicking her foot impatiently as 'Nick Fury' is speaking.

Less 'Leader' than 'one who leads' I guess. She'd definitely be willing to tell people what to do, whether they'd listen or not on the other hand...

Meanwhile Radiance has the means to lead but doesn't really care to. She's probably been a member of numerous superhero teams throughout the years; though she might refer to them as pantheons, but since the other members either die or get old and die she's not the type to get involved.

I'm not tech based okay she has armor, a cool weapon and some common items but not Iron Man but should give a good accounting in battle. As for complications do they give more points for characters if you take more than one. I'm thinking:

1. Inhuman Origins: Is clearly not natural and her Presence except for Intimidation is 0.

2. Vulnerable to Cold: Her Toughness is half normal for defending against Cold Descriptor attacks, excluding armor protection.

Both would fit and cold fits her immortality flaw its the one thing that can hurt her. I know the big bad uses cold but Wolverine had to deal with Magneto and he was basically part metal.

No you don't gain extra points for additional spending at the start of the game.    However motivation and a complication or more then one additional complication.   Give  you a chance to earn more victory points to be used during game play.    As victory points can be spent to overcome impossible situations.

Example is the complication that one is condescending within groups, as that character considers themselves a lone wolf,  don't really need to work with anyone.     Victory points be gained by ingenuity in role play overcoming such a complication in working within the context of a team.   As this is a team orientated role play.

Complications can also be on both ends of the spectrum.   For example a secret ID is a complication.  But so is a public ID,   as you cannot escape the fact your a well known hero or heroine.

Until called upon by the government to join a new team promising no more Vietnam action. She supports herself with her pension its not huge she retired after her twenty as a Specialist and odd work.

I could work Dark Water Industries into my girl's background.  Sort of have this idea that maybe the one who brutalized her on national television might have been tied there and then was maybe over the cybernetics program.  Be sort of a sick twist that the man who publicly humiliated and raped her getting the final say as he puts his technology and creation inside of her without her knowing.  For some reason I keep coming up with the name Maestro for the name of the villain that hurt her and him being a technopath.

D12

Did we land on a mark on the whole 'scientifically empowered heroes' thing?

I mean seems like we're pretty close to being full science already. Citizen and Lady Frankenstein are both kinda, science experiments; both even dealing with the same sort of thing really, 'raising the dead / preventing death' and all that. Slipshade had a super-science lab explode all over him.
Ixy's character got her powers from the end of a needle; wielded by her science-experiment-volunteer/ guinea pig father.
TF was going with a power-armored gal last I heard?

Muse's character is kind of the odd-girl out with her 'possessed by katana-ghost' thing.

Thinking I'll probably go with Copper Rose since we do appear to be building a theme here.

Still bouncing between ideas... hard to think up a good single gimmick for the golden age legacy character, like Sandman's gas gun or Phantom Lady's blackout light (And may copy one of them).

Also had an idea for a heroine who was subjected to an experimental growth serum and can grow to 60 feet tall... and not get any shorter than 8.

Possible visual inspiration for the powered armor framework heroine (Though with a smaller backpack so she can walk through doors... think about how War Machine's rocket launcher and gatling fold down along his back when not deployed)  :

Copycat is a human merged with the body of an extradimensional being that has simulated the appearance of her deceased best friend. Her alien body was a weapon, designed to mimic beings it encounters, but she has either lost or is unable to access the shapeshifting abilities of her alien body. The only power she retains is her ability to copy powers from others. She can mimic the power of a single individual upon touching them. The power lasts until she replaces it with another power, or decides she no longer wants to keep the power. Along with the power she copies, she generally gets any associated weaknesses, and sometimes picks up personality traits or strange interests and hobbies from her subjects.

As the body was designed to fight, she retains its skills as a fighter, though they are more combat reflexes than anything of which she is consciously aware. Her memory is phenomenal, and she sometimes retains skills and knowledge from those she mimics. Part of the alien design was to assimilate information about its surroundings, and that seems to have bled over into her personality; she is highly interested and knowledgeable in current events and pop culture.

Background

Nyssa was a plain girl of average intelligence, but a gifted telepath. Growing up, she couldn't help but read the minds of those around her, and the idle thoughts and petty judgments of her friends caused her to develop a self-confidence issue. She could hear the guys all thinking about how gorgeous Jenny was, imagining her naked, or worse still, doing disgusting things with them naked. She could hear Jenny's thoughts abut Kim's cute outfits, or Julie's lovely shoes, but never anything so flattering when she saw Nyssa. She came to believe that she was nothing special, and that boys would never be interested in her, and to wish over and over that she were Jenny instead of boring, plain Nyssa.

Her telepathy made it hard to make and keep friends, but she did find a few who didn't seem to judge her, oddly enough Jenny was among them; it seemed the most beautiful girl in school was also fairly easy to block out. Nyssa found that she could spend time with Jenny without reading her thoughts, something she found difficult with others. They became the best of friends, and even deiced to go to the same college. Tragedy struck on Jenny's twenty-first birthday; the car she was riding in was struck by a drunk driver and she was killed instantly. Nyssa was devastated, but after months of grieving, finally found the strength to move on with her life.

She never revealed her powers to her friends, but in her junior year at college, she was discovered by another telepath, Rose McEwan, the retired former superhero Psyche. Rose was a professor at the college, and also contracted her powers out to a corporation (possibly Dark Water Industries?). Sensing her potential, she took young Nyssa under her wing (and collected a large finders fee from the company.)

Nyssa spent several years letting the company test and catalog her abilities, and eventually was tapped for a new project. The company had discovered extradimensional travel, and had begun opening portals to multiple dimensions. After the first incident, the company began to use telepaths to reach into the new dimensions before sending explorers and risking the lives of their people.

Nyssa was hooked to a cybernetically controlled machine, searching for sentience telepathically in the other dimension they had accessed during their experiments. Day after day, she found nothing. But then one day there was something there, a mind, a presence. The being she discovered was curious, inquisitive, and unknown to her, had evolved to mimic, slay, and replace anything it contacted.

The telepathic link allowed it access to her mind as well, and it took the form it saw there, her ideal form, the way she always wished she looked: the image of her high school friend Jenny. Nyssa could sense the alien mind, knew it wasn't human, but it was Jenny, and she needed help. She couldn't just leave her there, in that alien dimension. Maybe Jenny had fought her way back from some sort of afterlife and was trying to tell her something. She had to know, she had to do something.

That something was to let it in; a choice she couldn't make on her own. She reached out telepathically, and for the first time since she was a small child tried to control another mind. Panic and hope at seeing her friend again made her strong, and she forced the technician to open the portal wider, wider, let Jenny through! Then everything happened at once.

The Jenny create lunged into our world, caught in the containment field. Nyssa tried to extract herself from the machine to help Jenny, and the rest of the technical crew caught on to what was happening and tried to shut everything down with the kill switch. It was too late. Nyssa lashed out, the psychic attack holding the techs just long enough for her to reach out at touch Jenny, and then everything exploded.

Nyssa awoke in a hospital bed. Her body felt wrong, she couldn't concentrate, couldn't think, everything was foggy, there were no thoughts but her own. She couldn't hear them anymore, she was alone in her mind. When she headed to the bathroom, she caught her reflection in the mirror, and she gasped. She was no longer Nyssa. She had been replaced by a beautiful woman with a perfect body, the mirror image of her best friend Jenny, the most beautiful woman she had ever known.

Slowly, step by step, her mind recreated the events of the incident. The portal was not designed to transport anything, just access the other dimension, but somehow Jenny had come through, or the thing that looked like Jenny. When they touched, they had become one. They had merged. Her mind had been stronger, and remained. The other worldly Jenny must have been the stronger of the two bodies, and remained.

The company had decided she was now an asset, and wanted to dissect her new body, discover its secrets, but her mentor Rose used her telepathy to help her escape. Tactical teams were dispatched to stop them, and when their hopes of escape seemed impossible, Rose sacrificed herself so Nyssa could escape.

Alone, with no money, no family that would recognize her, no identity other than that of a dead girl, Nyssa lived on the streets for several days. On her third and hungriest day, she was attacked and nearly raped, saved at the last minute by (insert member of the Cadre here). When (hero) helped her up, her powers kicked in, and she copied (hero)'s powers. Seeing her abilities, she was invited to come back to Overwatch for observation, and eventually given a place on the team.

Do you mean Mimic for her power?

My bad. I read that as Power "Duplication" rather than, "Power Duplication"

RubySlippers your age is twofold apparent age then actual age.    So if you were around WW2 fighting Nazi.    Lets say you were 18 at time in 1944   so you would be   actual age 89  but appear as late teens early twenties.

As for the immortality, if you get killed with it rank 9 applied to 19 time rank of a month.   You revive in two hours as you subtract your rank from the time rank.    And the rank in immunity aging keeps you from actually aging.

Which makes the year present day 2015

Ghostraven

Sorry for the delay. I'll have the character stats up later tonight. I may need some help working out the crunchy bits for the character though to make sure I'm applying appropriate logic to the power creation.
If the concept is not workable I have a backup idea in the wings.

Ok; here is what I have concept wise.

Name: Mecha
Alias: Cassandra 'Cassy' Blake
Age: 20

Personality: She can be a bit of a spoiled brat now and then but Cassy, as she prefers to be called, is usually happy and outgoing, she wants to be everyone's friend. She tends to act before thinking through a situation or the consequences her actions might have.

Cassy breezed through collage and graduated with a degree in advanced computer sciences and is expected by her parents to eventually start working for the company. Her parents don't know that she is a super heroine; they just think that she is taking a year or so off before coming to work for them.

She is their only child and has always gotten most anything she ever wanted, including a pony. Her family are quite wealthy and have a large mansion in the city as well as a lake house upstate.

History: Cassandra Blake was born to William and Amanda Blake; Heirs to  Blake Technologies,  a cutting edge advanced sciences and technology company that works almost exclusively as a defense contractor for the Government. The company was originally just simple aircraft manufacturers, they gained prominence during WW II supplying aircraft for the US Army Air Corps and then the US Air Force. The company seeming destined to be merged into the other larger aircraft firms after the war. Her grandfather made several important breakthroughs, seemingly overnight in several aerospace and material sciences areas ensuring the companies independence and close association with military.  Unknown to all her grandfather had some assistance in making his breakthroughs. Sometime during the war her grandfather came into possession of the remains of an alien space craft. (this can be a pot hook for later stories) Reverse engineering of the craft pushed the company into the forefront of cutting edge technology on earth. Last summer while staying at the lake estate Cassy stumbled into a secret room in the mansion, inside the small room were her grandfathers old personal research notes and documents as well as several old prototypes and at least one alien artifact. The research notes and documents didn't ever mention anything alien but there were references to 'Argent'. Cassy while exploring the room opened a old cardboard box. inside was a damaged silver sphere that clearly had been part of something else. While examining the object she managed to open it a luminous crystalline blue octahedron floated in the core of the sphere. Bewildered by the oddity she touched it. The crystal flared brightly and seemingly crumbled the dust clinging to and inexplicably seeming to run up her hands and arms dissipating almost as quickly as it had started.
Several days later she was holding her laptop and was amazed that she was able to suddenly access her computer even though it wasn't powered on.
She experimented with her new found powers learning that she could not only talk to computers and machines but that she could manipulate them basically in any way she could imagine. She attempted to make a real costume like the other heroes that were appearing but her sewing skills were lacking which is when she hit upon the idea to make her costume from her lap top and hence Machine Girl…Mecha Girl…Mecha was born. She joined the Team after having several minor solo ventures while she finally settled on her hero identity of Mecha.

She is effectively a Technomancer. Below is her original power write up for another RP a long time ago, Mostly to show concept. Hopefully I can figure out how to get her to work within the rules.

Technomancer: Cassy can manipulate technology and machines commanding and controlling anything form a can opener to a jumbo-jet. She can power and even repair devices just by touching them. She also has an almost instant knowledge of how the touched device works allowing her to make mundane repairs and improvements to devices as well as using her power to then manipulate the device.
Her abilities also let her hack computer systems effortlessly as she can not only manipulate the software but she can commandeer the hardware as well. Curiously it is harder for her to manipulate a simple machine than it is some cutting edge device. She can't manipulate nonelectric devices that don't have moving parts. So she couldn't do anything with a knife or a hammer but she could cause a cross bow to cock and fire. It is unclear why given the apparent nature of her power she can't simply make a knife into a something else but this may be something that she eventually learns.

Technomancy: Cassy can transform the form and function of a device. She can’t change the actual mass of the machine but she seems to have a limited ability to change the material properties of the device via an ability to psychokinetically restructure matter. She can make a car into a robot or a cell phone into a laser or vice versa but the cell phone robot would only be six inches high and weight half a pound. She can't create explosives or chemicals but she can create rail guns and eventually energy weapons, the mass for any projectiles needs to come from the available mass of the device. Machines that she manipulates remain their changed form but may no longer operate or operate in a favorable manner once she is no longer directly controlling them. So while a car that she added guns to would still work as a car, the guns wouldn't work; but the car she changed into a robot would be a just a mass of rearranged metal and plastic.

Weakness: Currently she needs to be in physical contact with the device that she is manipulating, thought she can use a tether to connect her physically with a device that she is manipulating, she also can only manipulate a single device at a time. However her costume which she usually creates out of her laptop seems to indicate that she can with practice maintain multiple machine manipulations at once. She and her machines are susceptible to electrical attacks particularly as she is almost always in physical contact with them. The size of the device that she controls is also related to the level of concentration that is required. While she can control a small car sized device with little effort controlling a passenger jet would require a considerable amount of her concentration and focus and something the larger would probably be beyond her current abilities.
It also requires time to manipulate a machine with more time for more extensive alterations. So hacking a phone or computer would take moments making a car into a robot could take minutes.

More to come :-)
So let me know if she sounds ok and will fit in.

TTYL

Ghostraven

Elven Sex Goddess

Mecha writeup looks good.  I see no reason why she won't fit in.    I am also looking forward to how you do up the character especially with the ability to transform something.

I would think a create power pool would do the trick.   add modifier moveable +1 per rank, continuous +1 per rank and precise +1 per rank.   With the flaw quirk -1 per rank as you need a mechanical object, i.e. car,  cell phone.    Then to create it takes increase action -3 per rank   a move and standard action.    Add in feedback at -1 per rank

So basically a 50 pt pool would cost  50 points.     For simplicity sake think better to keep time at same for if it is a small cell phone or perhaps a car into a robot.   The number of items transformed and used are based on the total of points spent from the pool.    Once you reallocate the points the object before cease to function with your change and is a pile of mess or just no longer with the added ability.

Sorry for the delay. I'll have the character stats up later tonight. I may need some help working out the crunchy bits for the character though to make sure I'm applying appropriate logic to the power creation.

If you need help with the crunch I'd be happy to lend a hand Ghostraven.

Just from giving your write up a real brief glance I'd probably say your best bet is
Flaw: Limited to Technology (-1)
Flaw: Permanent (-1)
Modifier: Affects Others
Base Effect: Variable

Although you might need to talk with Goddess about how shifting objects around works with Variable's built-in limit of the original ranks.

EDIT: The way I see it; this would allow you to turn anything qualified as 'technology' into anything worth an equal amount of Equipment Points, with the idea that the thing's initial value in Equipment Points is its 'rank'  although since 5EP = 1 CP that gets pretty messy pretty quickly. One rank in Variable would let you affect something up to 25 Equipment Points; which is like... a rocket launcher. (Although I'd rule that a rocket launcher isn't 'technology' so much as 'weaponry.' Technology to me says it needs at least like a circuit, and while weapons can involve circuits, most things like handguns are purely mechanical.)
Of course that's if you can find 25EP of stuff laying around. That'd be like 25 flip phones, and it's open to interpretation as to whether this allows you effect more than one thing at a time; it could be one-action one-object so you couldn't 'pile stuff together' and affect the pile. Not sure what modifier you'd need to do that.

The 'make a crossbow lock and fire from across the room' would just be 'move object' maybe with some limits or mods

I would suggest a list of  pre-made power sets with for ready access in game play as the variable power pool is used.  To help keep the flow of the game running smoothly.

Ghostraven

I'll look at the Variable power D12 mentioned and the power pool ESG mentioned.
Below is how I looked at implementing her powers.  I went with the idea that she effectively 'summons' her machines from other machines, so I went down the 'Summon' effect figuring that I'd make several Basic robot templates, brawling bot, railgun bot, tank bot, scout bot, etc.

Please look over what I did and let me know if it makes sense, I'm open to making changes to make her work better. :-)

I assume the tiring is on only three levels.    The  upper three levels.   As it is -1 per rank applied.    So summons and transform  at 9 ranks used cost nothing, while 10, 11 and 12 ranks cost 1 each stamina for a -3 Which your at a zero stamina.

You also forgot your defense stat block.

Back to the summon  and transform.

I  would remove the flaw tiring,  instead use the flaw removable at -2 ranks.   To represent the opposite effect in your other flaw its grab based.   Of course such will not limited your character.  Other then it would delay for a turn.   As I would assume she is like Tony Stark with many working technology gadgets in supply.    This way it takes way the tiring flaw.    It will give you more points to spend else where.

I also take the tiring away from the transform.  Instead I put in fade, to represent the power supply running down  on the summon piece of technology.    That is -1 per rank and again will give you more points to send.

D12

I'm not sure about Transform. I can get what you were going for but Transform is really for like, turning water into wine, or lead into gold, not so much a cellphone into a laser pistol which changes not only the make up of the subject but the effect of the subject as well (from something like Easily Removed Limited Distracting Noticeable Communication to Easily Removed Ranged Damage in the Cellphone => Pistol example.)

Summon I'm more on the fence on.

I could see it being used to like, summon a horde of cellphone-sized robot crabs from a pile of cellphones, but you'd need Variable Type (General Type: Robots) to not be summoning the same minion over and over again (which doesn't make sense if you're summoning them 'formed' from different pieces of technology) Likewise you'd probably want a fairly high rank of the Multiple Minions extra (which gets expensive really fast) so you could summon more than one minion at a time, and maybe even Horde so you can summon more than one at a time.

I'd probably go with a fairly low rank of Summon with a fairly high rank of Multiple Minions attached. Something like.

Limited Variable Type Mental Link Multiple Minions 6 Horde Indifferent Summon (13 Points per rank)
(Limited: Medium Required, Technology) (General Type: Robots) (12 Minions Maximum)

Although even that doesn't really fit, since that's more just, summoning minions from laptops rather than turning laptops into minions.

Variable would technically encompass Summon, so it would allow you to 'summon' minions from technology, by turning the technology into something which summons a minion, albeit limited by the 'power level' of the device so like you could turn a super-computer into a stronger minion than a laptop; or even several weaker minions since Variable basically says 'you can pick any effect'

EDIT: I'm re-reading Variable, and I can't find the line that I could have sworn said something like 'the mimicked effect cannot exceed the original effect's original ranks.' I think I was reading "a Variable effect that mimics other’s traits is limited to the traits its subject(s) possess" as 'you can copy the effects present up to whatever rank you can afford' without realizing that if Regeneration Rank > 5 isn't present then you can't mimic Regeneration Rank > 5 because none of the subjects have that.

Since your Variable would be limited to 'Technology' you could turn anything described as Technology into something described as Technology with ranks as high as you could afford. That Cellphone could go from  Easily Removable... Communication 1 to Ranged Damage whatever-rank-you-want without even keeping the flaws (since you could turn the cellphone into like, a laser shooting glove or something)

Ghostraven

I'll have to do the Deference stat block.
The Tiring was for the top three levels to represent the extra effort/energy in transforming that much mass.
I'll make the changes that you noted ESG and I'll see what she looks like. I didn't think of giving her the removable flaw. I didn't see Fade but I'll look again.

I'm sure she has a lot of tech toys, though I don't see her carrying boxes of cell phones and such into combat. The basic Idea is that she has her laptop which becomes her costume, and her cell phone which could become something. She would use vehicles or machines from the environment, which was meant to also serve as a weakness she can't use her powers if there's no tech. Which is one of the reasons that I have so many limits on the summon to try and reflect that she's creating things from the tech, not having them just appear out of thin air.

I'll have the revisions posted some time tomorrow evening.

Meredith Winter
Alias: Formerly Comet Girl, Currently Midnight Angel

The landscape of Missouri seemed an odd place to begin the story of a super hero.  Yet that is where Meredith Winter took her first breath and where she soared into the skies for the first time as a child.  None are quite certain where the gift of flight and strength came from but they were extraordinary by all accounts.  Life for her started normal or at least as normal as many in the poor truck stop town could relate.  The daughter to a waitress and a trucker that never stopped there again, she was raised in the back of a diner for the most part.  Most of her memories were of doing her homework next to a jukebox and hearing the stories of the men that came into the place.  Nobody ever thought much of the girl unless to say she was going to be a “looker” one day.  True to prediction she eventually did grow into her body and would have become the most stunning waitress at the truck stop if not for her other gifts.

Flight came to her at the age of twelve.  A simple desire to be somewhere else was granted to her as she was thrust into the sky one night after a nasty fight between her mom and her boyfriend.  Meredith was in the hospital for a short time after with a broken ankle.  Even she had limits to how far she could fall.  Her mother assumed she had been climbing on the roof despite the wild stories of flight.  Meredith had to show her and made a public display of flying through the skies.  Already a gifted athlete her strength and toughness came into their own as she grew older.  Stories of the flying girl of Missouri spread rapidly so that by the age of fourteen camera crews were fighting over rights.  Money exchanged hands and the reality show, “Comet Girl” was born.  Almost overnight she was a star and being pitted against villains both real and imagined.

As the girl grew into womanhood people took notice.  Fan fiction emerged of course with torrid details of her sexual exploits.  Romantic interest turned from innocent to violent.  Meredith never really took notice as the producers shielded her from the worst and laughed at the rest.  No guards were placed on her for fear people would question why a super heroine would need a team.  Moving into the third season of the show the producers, directors and production staff felt secure in the future of their money generating girl.  Seventeen rolled around for her and at the exact time of her birth on that day her entire life changed.  Set to take flight to celebrate her birthday, Comet Girl started her ascent only to be struck down by a private passenger plane moments afterward.  People watched in horror as a cloaked figure stepped before the camera to claim credit and lift the plane away from her.  At first this was thought to be the introduction of another villain, until everything truly became horrifying.

Maestro was the name the man gave the camera crew before killing them out of hand.  On camera he forced the communication line to continue as he made Americans watch the dismemberment and destruction of each crew member.  Yet he was not done and as Meredith emerged from the wreckage he showed his most cruel torture for the young woman.  A longtime fan he confessed, he had come to give Meredith a gift on her seventeenth birthday.  He and he alone would make her a woman in a way she would never forget.  That she would never forget him.  People watched in disgusted fascination at what he did next and what he did over the hours that came.  Meredith’s career came to an end that night along with the life of Comet Girl.

Crushed in body and mind, there were few that wanted to touch the girl while she lay in the hospital.  The Production company had just renewed her contract and so had financial obligations to meet, but were quick to squirm their way out.  Fortunately, the company was beholden to another group that was happy to step into the fray and claim the contract.  Dark Water Industries had a particular curiosity about the woman and the genetic properties of her body.  Also their advancement cybernetics division had new equipment to utilize.  Meredith already felt the cold hand of vengeance in her heart when she signed the consents for her surgeries.  To all public knowledge Comet Girl disappeared that morning when she was taken to surgery.  The legacy still remained as people downloaded the victimization, broadcast every scream and whimper and even altered the video so her cries became moans.  By the time she emerged there was an entire subgenre of the video turned into pornography.  Meredith Winter didn’t care anymore.  She was different now and less naïve.

Dark Water Industries had gifted her with their latest in technology.  Talented craftsmen and scientists placed their newest and untested materials into her to extend her life and make her a combat ready creature.  Combined with her already impressive array of powers, the team felt confident in her abilities.  The Cadre of Guardians seemed a good start for the woman.  Her enlistment was no surprise to anyone, though a few balked at what her reputation might bring to the team.  A demonstration of her abilities silenced most of the nay-sayers and a few greased palms silenced the others.  Meredith felt assured she would find her place here and find the man responsible for hurting her and humiliating her.  Little did she know that the very man that had cut her life from her and also been the one to set her on this course.  Maestro was the man that lead the development team for Dark Water Industries, the very man who had designed and implanted into her all the tools she now employed.

I had some ideas for Mecha that'd cut down on the need for Variable (or so much Variable)

Try these as alternate powers...

Ranged Damage with 2 points of Variable Descriptor and a limitation or quirk for Requires Suitable Technology Items.  That'd let her make anything into any weapon.  Indirect might work for making flying gun drones too.

Create with Precise, Subtle, Permanent, Movable, Innate and a Proportional limitation based off of the same Requires Suitable Technology.  So she could turn any tech object into any other tech object, permanently, and it'd it's work as that object, and look like it... but it'd all be based on the mass rank of the object she was transforming, so she could make a cellphone into anything the size of a cellphone, but not a car.    Movable would let her make flying drones, again.

Healing with Affects Objects (and affects Objects Only) to make repairs on things.

Summon, as already mentioned.

That'd cover a whole lot, and you could put in any other powers you'd think she'd be doing often as well, and a rank or two of Variable for things you overlooked, or else go with Inventing and Quickness  to speed it up, with a limitation of requiring the power's rank in suitable tech mass.

I'm still torn and not wanting to step on anyone's niche, and with Mecha as the master of all technology, a lesser tech character might be lesser.

The golden age legacy character might have a legacy vehicle, something unique, like a flying submarine or anti-grav/magnetic repulsion airship.  Though the agency might have wanted to take it apart and see how it ticks and she'd be hard-pressed to say no... that's a hard one to work around.  Also had the idea that her bookish friend was the one who found the legacy gear, and she, being more athletic, was the one that got to put on the suit, take up the device and go crimefighting, as the bookish girl stays at home and helps via radio (a side character ally if anyone'd want to play it).  Not sure either of those would work, being dependent on people/things that aren't always around.

Regarding the partial armor power armor character who found, rather than invented it, perhaps it could be even more exotic, like a Guyver unit symbiote, or part of one... it just covers the arms and shoulders, say.

For the growing amazon, she might have been a "normal" heroine ala Batgirl before being captured by a villain and experimented on or accidentally exposed to the growing agent.

Hope to narrow it down by tonight.  Been feeling a bit blah from allergies.

I am fine with the summon transform combo.  I like the fact you were thoughtful in creation to include the multiple minions.    I see them as small robotics of a technology nature.   That you can transform with your skill and ability with technology.

Its late,  I have gone over it.  Its approve go ahead and place in the character roster database.    Thank you.

TFcommando

Looks good to me.  Two suggestions come to mind.  You took:

Unarmed (Close)   4   2
Rippers (Close)           4   2

You could replace that at the same cost with the Close Attack advantage at 4, giving you the same skill with unarmed and rippers, plus other unarmed combat moves such as grapples and disarms and any other melee weapons she might make or pick up.  You could also take Close Attack 2, lower the Parry defense by 2 and raise the Fighting stat by 2 for the same result.  Possibly as Enhanced stat/enhanced advantage if you want it to represent a combat computer, chipped fighting skills or the like instead of natural ability.  It's all flavor as far as that goes.

For the Summon and Transform powers, you could use the Alternate Power rules... you buy the most expensive power at full price, then get the other one at just one point, with the drawback that you can only use one per turn.  It looks like she can already only use one per turn since both are grab-based and she'd have to let go of a summon to do a transform, or vice-versa.  That would save you 6 points.  You could buy other alternate powers for 1 point each, as long as they cost no more than the 18 of the most expensive one.

I really like the visuals of her cyberhair too. :)

Giant former Batgirl type is hung up on points, went over budget.

Golden Age legacy heroine still needs a good gimmick (invisibility/cloaking device is one).  Possible name: Sphinx (or Ms. or Lady...)

Yet another new idea... a sorceress from the 1960s, a student who had a mystical awakening, fought funky threats, then confronted a big bad in a dimension where time moved fast and she emerges in the modern day.  A variety of blast spells, some teleporting, maybe minor shapeshifting for movement forms, centaur, mermaid and the like.

Good thought!  Frankenstein might be the one who invites her to the team when she arrives in the modern day.  The sheet is coming along nicely, just need to flesh out her origin a bit and think up a good name, always the tricky part for me.

But in short, she was a serious, buttoned down student who wasn't into all this wild stuff, until she got dragged to a party with sex and drugs, or went there for research, and then her consciousness was raised, her third eye opened... she found herself levitating and seeing strange things, but unlike most who feel that way, it was really happening, and giant lizard men really were trying to drag off some of the other partygoers!  She was able to see the cosmic energy of the universe and manipulate it too, saving those people.

And so she set out on her funky career as a superhero, battling cultists, mystical threats from beyond reality, Soviet ESP program agents and other weird things.

Besides the usual sorcery powers of blasting stuff and teleporting, plus a "blissful touch" affliction to make people feel too good to fight, I'm picturing some esoteric enhanced vision powers, Mystical Awareness, Penetrates Illusion, things like that.  Maybe Uncontrollable Precognition, perhaps with Only While Asleep.

Complications will include a secret ID (working at a used bookstore, since unusual people don't stand out that much there), an "Out of time" one for how she's not in step with current attitudes and might miss current references and a power loss relating to needing to keep her consciousness raised by a certain amount of sex and/or drugs... she might run short on power like Spidey runs out of web fluid.  Possibly an enemy as well, a demon-run cult that's adapted to current trends and has a lot of members, and a grudge against her from sealing away their boss.

And just picture my character dressed as a Hippy on some good acid and pot. LOL

D12

I just picture all these stoned Hippies thanking Eve for her service and remarking how horrible the Vietnam war was.

Complications
Motivation – Doing Good  It's positive karma!

Identity – She maintains a relatively normal lifestyle to keep herself grounded.  Also, demons sometimes use the phonebook to find their enemies!

Enemy – The Spawn of Thrakazog.  The great demon has many offspring and some have continued their father's work.  Demon worship is out of vogue, so many have created past-life cults or self-help movements to lure in and corrupt people in order to take their souls and energy.

Power Loss – Miss Spell needs to maintain the mana flowing through her by opening her consciousness to pleasure, via drugs or sex, and her powers might falter or come up short if it's been too long or she's used too much energy.

Quirk – Girl out of Time  While she gets the basics, some details of modern life still elude Miss Spell, and her attitudes and language can appear dated too.

Background

History:
Fiona Butler was working on her Masters in History at UC Berkley in the late 1960s, a serious, buttoned-up woman unlike many of her classmates at the time.  Her roommate Windflower (formerly Betty), tired of seeing her do nothing but study night after night, dragged her to a party, a wild one.  Fiona wasn't into it until she was told “You can't look dignified when you're having fun.”  No one else there looked dignified, drinking, smoking who knows what, engaging in the free love.  She tried some of the beer, a little of the grass, kissed a boy with Windflower, kissed Windflower... then things got blurry.  She experienced a tremendous epiphany, able to see the threads of energy that weaved the world together, just like the threads of history that made the tapestry of the modern day!

Such revelations weren't uncommon for people under the influence, but they usually faded in the morning.  When morning came for Fiona, she was floating three feet off the ground and her hair had grown down to her ass!  Her clothes were all gone too, but there was probably a logical explanation for that.  The weird lizard men with swords dragging Windflower and some of the other girls to a hole floating in the wall... not so much.  Fiona used her newfound magic powers to save the girls and soon learned that new age of Aquarius had weakened the weave of the world.  Bad things were coming through, and some people were getting access to bad powers.

She took a hiatus to learn more about magic and to protect people from these extrasensory and extradimensional threats, as well as enjoying the counterculture lifestyle she'd been thrust into.  She needed to liberate her consciousness with pleasure to keep her mystical energies flowing, and sometimes she did that with other heroes (and heroines!) she teamed up with.  That was all strictly on a friendly basis, she didn't join any of the teams of that time.

Late in 1969, she followed the demon lord Thrakazog, architect of many of the evils coming to Earth, to his home plane and after a climactic battle, sealed him in stone for 999 years.  When she returned to Earth, she found decades had passed!  She's joined the Cadre to help find her way in this strange new world and to make sure that they and Overwatch are on the right path.

She maintains a secret ID and her own apartment, working in a used bookstore.  She's looking into resuming her Masters, though that might take some forging of transcripts.

Personality

Miss Spell is a cheerful, optimistic and good natured woman and sounds vaguely spacy, though she has a very keen mind and a practical grounding in history, unlike many of her contemporaries.  She strives to find non-violent solutions, even with strange monsters, since everyone is a person, in her view.  Even in combat, she'll prefer to use her Blissful Touch or restrain people in a barrier instead of blasting away with raw power.

She's not always happy with the actions of The Man (even if Captain Nichols, as the Man, is a woman) and will speak her mind about what Overwatch or the Cadre is doing... or not doing that they should!  She's a mellow, easygoing person and is still exploring the new world she's found herself in, which has good and bad things about it.  But no cities on the moon!

Powers:
Miss Spell is a powerful sorceress adept, able to channel elemental forces, teleport anywhere on Earth, levitate herself or other objects, erect mystical barriers, deflect other magical attacks and even undo the damage magic has done to people.  She has a spell that brings pleasurable bliss to anyone she touches.  Her opened third eye lets her sense magic and see through illusions.  She can even channel the aspects of some zodiac signs, becoming a centaur or a mermaid.

Appearance
A 5'8” woman of Irish ancestry, with carrot red hair, pale skin and green eyes, Fiona has a busty, healthy figure.  Her costume consists of a loosely closed fringed half vest and a panel skirt held together by a belt of silver medallions, exposing her hips and a fair amount of leg.  She wears rimless rectangular glasses, a green headband with a a pentagram medallion held in the middle and several bracelets on each wrist and one ankle.  She goes barefoot or in sandals.  No bra, naturally.   In her secret ID, she goes with T-shirts (often tie-dyed) and bellbottom jeans, with hoop earrings.  She was issued a tactical jumpsuit which she wears with the zipper open all the way down past her navel, the medallion belt, headband and a large pentagram necklace.  She doesn't have any tattoos and the only thing pierced are her ears.  She's rather casual about nudity, at home, around the base, on the beach... and she doesn't shave or even trim her thick red bush.

Elven Sex Goddess

Miss Spell is good to go, post to character roster.   thanks

TFcommando

Just did two modifications on her, changed the area attack to a mental one, a sort of sleep spell, and did a 2 point exchange on Fort and Will defense.

Where is the character roster?

NM on the second question, found it.
