Welcome to the Star Trek universe! For those not familiar with the new(er) movies, the 2009 Star Trek movie destroyed Romulus in the Prime timeline. The mainstream Star Trek universe in which most stories take place is called the Prime timeline. This is where the story starts.

Before I start going on about the plot, these are the types of characters that can be played. For now, we are just sticking within the Federation and specifically Starfleet. If this gets quite a lot of support, we may be able to cover more and more ground. For now, though, the types of characters you can play are Starfleet officers of any species within the Federation (including Romulan or Reman refugees- see the plot), a member of the Federation government, or a cadet in Starfleet Academy, also of any species within the Federation. The species can be extended to both androids and holograms as well, synthetic life, although there may be a limited number of these.

The Plot
The universe looks on as the planet Romulus is destroyed. For centuries, the Romulans have been a major power in the quadrant. Their stealth ships have been the envy of many an empire. They have watched and waited on the sidelines, plotting against the Klingons and the Federation. But now, their home planet is gone. Their government has collapsed and various crime lords and former senators have picked up the pieces, taking advantage of the situation. Many Romulan refugees have fled to other parts of the empire or even to the Federation and the Klingon Empire themselves, taking refuge with their former enemies. The Romulans were a proud people, but they now must accept help. The Federation and the Klingon Empire are at a loss for what to do. After much deliberation by the Council and a signature from the President, the Federation has decided to start granting citizenship to Romulan refugees who seek it and, as a consequence, allowing them to join Starfleet. The Klingon Empire, on the other hand, has decided to treat Romulans as second class citizens as payback for the centuries of hostility. Indeed, the Klingon Empire has taken advantage of the situation and declared war on what's left of the Romulan government, annexing more and more of their territory. The Federation attempts to care for these Romulan refugees even though there is quite a lot of prejudice going on among its citizenry towards them. The Romulans are not exactly beloved by the Federation's citizens either. However, the Federation government and Starfleet now attempt to negotiate with their allies, the Klingon Empire, to get them to stop fighting the Romulans and allow them to rebuild. The disappearance of one of their best negotiators, Ambassador Spock, makes this all the more difficult. Everyone believes that war is inevitable. The Federation fights to prevent that from happening in an increasingly hostile political climate at the turn of the 25th century.

Timeline
Some important events in Star Trek history that pertain to this game for those who are not as familiar with the universe. All dates are according to the standard AD/BC calender, or the Gregorian Calender:

~4th Century- The Time of Awakening on Vulcan. The Vulcan people descend into nuclear war, wiping out a massive amount of their own people. Surak, a philosopher, arose to prominance advocating a supression of all emotion and a belief in pure logic. This would, he argued, make wars completely obsolete as they are only caused by Vulcan emotion. Surak's philosphy came to prominance and most people on Vulcan came to accept his beliefs. Those who did not agree, however, fought back against this dominant philosophy and soon fled the planet. Surak himself died of radiation poisoning, but his legacy lived on as even today the belief in pure logic and supression of all emotion is the dominant orthodoxy of the planet.

~5th Century- Those who left Vulcan in the wake of Surak's philosophy lived on a generational ship without technology like cryogenic freezing or warp drive. After several generations, they settled on the planets Romulus and Remas, becoming the Romulans as we know them today. They built a larger empire then the Vulcans with the discovery of warp technology.

Early 20th Century- Vulcans make first contact with Andorians which leads to centuries of warfare between the two people.

2049-2053- World War Three on Earth is a devestating nuclear war that leaves most of Earth as a horrifying post-apocalyptic wasteland.

April 5, 2063, Bozeman Montana- Zefram Cochrane, a human, makes his historic first test flight of his invention, the warp drive. The Vulcans take notice and make official first contact with all of humanity, letting humans know that they are not alone in the universe. This official first contact would start a long lasting relationship between the two species.

~Mid 22nd Century- Starfleet is founded as Earth's primary means of space exploration and defense.

2156-2160- The Romulan government attacks the United Earth believing it to be a threat, hoping to neutralize it before it can become stronger in the Earth-Romulan War.

2161- The United Federation of Planets is founded after the resolution of warfare and hostility between Vulcans and Andorians. The founding members of the UFP were the Humans, Vulcans, Andorians, and Tellarites, but the Federation soon spread to countless member worlds. The Federation incorporates Starfleet as its military and scientific arm, founding Starfleet Academy to train new recruits.

23rd Century- The Federation, Klingon Empire, and Romulan Empire all have a stand off cold war. All three hate each other, yet war does not quite break out.

2265-2270- Captain Kirk and the USS Enterprise undergo its historic five year mission to explore uncharted territory.

2293- The Klingon Empire signs a peace treaty with the Federation called the Khitomer Accord. This comes after the explosion of the Klingon moon Praxis which devestated both the Klingon homeworld's atmosphere and climate as well as the Klingon economy.

2344- The Enterprise-C responds to a Klingon distress call at the Narendra III outpost when the Klingons are under attack by the Romulans. The Enterprise-C defends the Klingon colony from attack and is destroyed. The ship's destruction is instrumental in establishing an alliance between the Federation and the Klingon Empire.

2347-2367- The Cardassian Union and the Federation establish colonies in close proximity to each other leading to strong border disputes that result in a decades long war. The Cardassians start the war by attacking the Federation colony on Setlik III, killing over 100 civilians. The Cardassians claim self-defense in a pre-emptive strike.

2364- The Federation makes first contact with the Q. The Q are a race of highly intelligent, nearly omnipotent (they can not time travel), and nearly indestructible (except when they attack each other or commit suicide) species. The Q judged humanity to be unworthy of continued existence and decided to wipe them from existence. However then captain of the USS Enterprise-D, Jean Luc Picard, convinced the Q to spare humanity. The Q promised to continue watching and judging humanity from afar.

2365- The Federation makes first contact with the Borg in the Delta Quadrant. The Borg are a race of cyborgs made of biological and technological parts. They do not advance as a species like everyone else. Instead they assimilate other species into their own collective, adding their biological and technological distinctivness to their own knowledge. They function as a hive mind with "individuals" being drones that only think in one single collective voice.

2366- The Borg invade the Alpha Quadrant, assimilating Starfleet Captain Jean Luc Picard as a mouthpiece for their conquest. They destroy the vast majority of Starfleet's ships at the Battle of Wolf 359. They are eventually stopped when a Federation android figures out how to put the Borg into "sleep mode."

2369- The Federation agrees to aid the struggling Bajoran people after the end of a fifty year Cardassian occupation. They take possession of the Cardassian space station Terok Nor, renamed Deep Space Nine, orbiting Bajor, staying as guests of the Bajoran people. The Federation later discovers a stable wormhole to the Gamma Quadrant, making Deep Space Nine and Bajor one of the most important sectors in the Alpha Quadrant.

2370- The final treaty between the Cardassian Union and the Federation is finalized as both sides give up colonies to the other side, forming the demilaterized zone along the border between the two powers. However, the Cardassian military secretly ships weapons and ships to its colonists, leaving Federation colonists defenseless. Many Federation colonists refuse to leave their homes and attack the Cardassians in retaliation. These colonists form the Maquis who break away from the Federation entirely to fight Cardassians wherever they can. They make their main base in the Badlands, an area of highly unstable astrophysical phenomenon that is difficult to navigate.

2371- The Federation makes first contact with the sole dominant power of the Gamma Quadrant, the Dominion, leading to a standoff cold war between the two powers. The Dominion attempt to sow political chaos between the various powers of the Alpha Quadrant. The Dominion are led by a species of shapshifters known as Changelings who treat all other species are subservient classes that only exist to protect the Changelings. Changelings are also known as Founders to members of the Dominion.

2373- The Cardassians make an alliance with the Dominion, officially becoming a member of the Dominion in service to the Founders. The Cardassians do this because they are weakened by contiued Maquis attacks. In response, the Dominion completely wipes out the Maquis.

2373- The Borg invade Federation space yet again, this time sending a cube into sector 001, Earth. Although the ship is destroyed by the USS Defiant and the USS Enterprise-E working in tandem with the rest of Starfleet, a smaller Borg sphere is sent back in time to 2063 and assimilates the Earth, preventing the Federation from ever existing. The USS Enterprise-E goes back in time along with it and prevents the Borg from interferring with first contact.

2373-2375- The Dominion War rages between the Dominion and the Federation/Klingon/Romulan alliance. The war only ends when Odo, a Changeling who had been living on Deep Space Nine, convinces the Changelings to stop the war.

2375- Captain Sisko, captain of Deep Space Nine and major leader during the Dominion War, disappears, absorbed into the realm of the Prophets: aliens who live in the wormhole to the Gamma Quadrant. These aliens have no concept of time and can see all of time at once. Sisko becomes one of them.

2371-2378- The USS Voyager makes an unscheduled and unplanned exploration of the Delta Quadrant when the ship is thrown thousands of light years from home. Voyager is thrown across the galaxy with the Maquis ship Val Jean. The Maquis ship is destroyed, but the two crews are integrated on Voyager.

2379- The entire Romulan senate is killed by Shinzon, a clone of Starfleet officer and commander of the USS Enterprise-E, Jean Luc Picard. He takes over the government in a bid to destroy Picard in a fit of jealousy for the life he could have had in different circumstances.

2387- The planet Romulus is destroyed by Red Matter. The substance was discovered by the Federation. It creates miniature black holes. It was used by Ambassador Spock to stop a supernova from destroying much of the galaxy. Unfortunately, he was too late to save Romulus from the supernova which was destroyed. Spock went back in time when a Romulan mining ship goes back in time to destroy the Federation and Ambassador Spock as revenge. Many Romulans are left homeless and the government collapses.

Map

This is a map of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants where the grand majority of the game will take place.

And if we zoom out a little farther we see the entire Milky Way Galaxy divided into the four Quadrants.

This is Moraline's topics to cover in a group rp:
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Game:

• Section the Game will be placed in and whether it is a system game or not.
This will likely be in the Exotic: NC section because we will have multiple different aliens. There may be times when non-consensual sex may happen, but it will be rare. If a Federation citizen engages in non-consensual sex, he/she will probably be imprisoned. However, there may be times when members of a ship may be kidnapped and forcibly raped, plot depending. We shall see.
• Who is the RP open to? (Gender, Sexuality, etc..?)
This RP is open to everyone of all genders and sexualities.
• Short Summary of Player Roles and General Story/Plot.
See below.
• Character creation info/guidelines if any.
See below.
• Required Resources (If any) (If a system game - What books(ver.) or links to information needed such as an online guide or wiki?)
Nothing but yourself. Some knowledge of the Star Trek universe may be required, but I have endevored to put most of the required information above in the post. If you are lost on something, feel free to ask or look at the Star Trek wiki, Memory Alpha, which I highly recommend.
http://en.memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Portal:Main
• Game Pacing.
It makes sense that you be required to post at least once a week. If you are non-responsive in posts or completely poof out of nowhere, you may be dropped. More often is prefered. Keep up with any plot or events. If you are a vital character in a plot and aren't responding, chances are your part may be taken over by someone else. This will generally be a sandbox game for the most part, though. People will have the option of participating in plots and, if they commit, are expected to stick to that commitment.
• How much sexual activity is likely to occur or expected, if any?
Sexual activity is not required, but can happen if you wish. This will be entirely up to the people playing whether they are sexually or romantically involved with anyone else.
• Whether tagging will be used or not.
I can not create tags, but if someone else can, I'd be fine with implementing them.
Game Master Info / GM(s) Participation Level (If/where applicable)

• Will there be a Co-GM?
For now, probably not unless there is so much interest that I can't handle it all.
• How guided will the play be(sandbox, directed etc)?
It will be mostly sandbox with occasional plot elements. Starfleet officers will be grouped together onto ships while will be the main focal points of the rp.
• What extent will players be allowed to create/use environment or setting details?
They will generally be allowed to interact with the environment as much as they like, as long as they don't destroy anything without GM permission.
• How NPC's will be handled. (If any) - (By GM and/or players, and what expectations)
NPCs will be handled as they arise, probably by the GM. At the moment there are no NPCs except for the three captains: Jean Luc Picard, Kathryn Janeway, and Benjamin Sisko.
• How active will the GM be?
I will be as active as the game is active.
• Will there be an OOC thread? (expectations of thread usage)
Yes. You don't have to use it, but it is generally where I will discuss plots with people.
• How to contact/approach GM with questions? (use OOC thread, direct PM, etc...)
Any plots will be discussed through the OOC thread. If there is a problem, send me a PM and we will work it out between the people in question.
• How will decisions be resolved?
GMs have the final say, however all opinions will be considered.
• Will PvP be allowed (if applicable)?
For now, no. Everyone in the game will be on the Starfleet side so there is no PvP. However, if the game gets bigger, PvP may be considered if people are allowed to play Klingons or members of makeshift Romulan government.
Additional:

• Respect everyone's ons/offs. Do not do any sort of NC without permission, ect. You aren't children, I shouldn't have to tell you to respect other people's boundries. If there is a serious problem, come to me, but I will expect this to be a no brainer for people.
• Player Participation Expectations. (Posts/week expected. Methods for reporting a possible absence/The method used to remove drop-outs from the game.)
You are absolutely expected to post at least once a weak. If you aren't meeting this, I will PM you and ask why you aren't posting. If you can't post regularly, you may be dropped or someone else may take your place until you can post. We can work this out, however, if you can't. Let me know beforehand if you can't. If you are committing to a plot, you are absolutely expected to post much more then that, as the plot goes on. Don't worry, you will know well beforehand if a plot is coming and you will be given the chance to either commit or not to the plot in question.
• Discuss how new players will be brought into the game (if the game is already running.)
New players will be assigned to ships (if they are officers) or go into the academy if they are cadets. They will be expected to know the basic gist of what's been going on, though, and as events go on there will be a timeline.
• What Writing style/POV. (Third person, first person, past, present, omniscient, etc...)
Third person past.
Setting
Alright, so this is a sandbox game with occasional plot elements. There may be more settings then just these (such as space stations), but these are the three major settings to the game:

If you are a member of the Federation government, you will post mainly in the Federation Council. This is a government setting, not unlike Congress in the US or Parliment in the UK. You can be any species from the Federation. The Founding Members of the Federation have more weight with the other members in their ideas, but they still only have one vote like everyone else. The Federation President is the head of state and head of the government. He is primarily responsible for the day-to-day operation of the government, foreign policy, resource distribution, and is the official commander of Starfleet. He also has a Cabinet. The President's office is located in Paris, France while the Council is located in San Francisco, US. You may play as a member of the Council, the President himself (if the spot is not already taken), or a member of the President's cabinet.

If you are a Starfleet cadet, you will post in the Starfleet Academy board. Starfleet Academy is the premier university on earth for anyone interested in military, science, or engineering fields. Starfleet accepts all majors from biology to computer science to engineering to history to physics to archaeology to medicine. Those entering into Starfleet Academy are cadets who become full officers when they graduate. While most people are accepted into the academy itself, different parts have other entrance exams. Starfleet Medical, Starfleet Command, and Starfleet Corps of Engineers are notoriously difficult to get into with high requirements. They only allow the best of the best. Starfleet Academy is located in San Francisco, US.

If you are an officer, you will have to have a rank and a section. You will be either an Admiral, Captain, Commander, Lieutenant Commander, Lieutenant, or Ensign. All officers are in either Command, Science, or Engineering sections, but all three encompass a whole range of fields. As an officer you will either be assigned to a ship, if ranked under Admiral, or you will post in Starfleet Command if you are an Admiral, located in San Francisco, US. Take note that not everyone can be a captain! The roles will be filled as shown below.

Roles
Every ship will need to have the following officers before we can move on to filling another ship:

Captain
First Officer
Chief of Security and Tactical
Chief Medical Officer
Chief Science Officer
Chief Engineer

Each chief officer is responsible for the day to day operations of every other officer in their department. They are ultimately responsible for everything in that department and will be held responsible if anyone or anything in their department is not working. You do not have to play one of these roles, however if one of these roles is taken, you can not take that role until all of the roles are taken. When all of these roles are filled, we will move on to another ship and start to fill those roles. You do not have to fill these roles if you do not want, you may play subordinates to these characters on whichever ship is currently being filled or on previously filled ships. You are allowed two characters, but you may not have more then one command role on the same ship. You may have a command role on another ship, however. Once all the command roles are filled on the ship, the people who are assigned to that ship may take the opportunity to name it and give it a number which will be its name for the entirety of the game. Federation ships have the "USS" moniker followed by the name. If it is named after a previously destroyed or decommissioned ship, it will have a letter after it. For example, a ship named after the USS Pegasus will be called USS Pegasus A.

Species List
Here is a list of every species known to be in the Federation. Note: If you pick an "unnamed species" you are responsible for telling us a little more about them. All species under "proposed members" will be considered part of the Federation for the purpose of this game. Also, Romulans and Remans will be allowed as well due to Romulan refugees, but they must have persued Federation membership to join the Federation government or Starfleet. You may also play synthetic life, either an android or a hologram, but you must include, in your character's history, how they were created and why.

These are the Starfleet Uniforms. Admiral's uniforms are slightly more fancy.

Just because you are on one ship or in one location does not mean you can't interact with people in another location or ship. Communication is instantaneous between locations with face to face screens so people can post in location topics that they would not normally be able to post in while communicating with someone they know.

Canon Characters
Canon characters can be claimed, but claim them in the topic here first before writing their application. You are responsible for researching your canon character before posting the application including their rank and section. Any canon characters from any of the shows or movies who are in Starfleet (no canons who are not in Starfleet or the civilian government) are acceptable (except those who are dead, of course, like Jadzia Dax or Data or missing like Spock). Characters that specifically can not be claimed are the captains: Picard, Janeway, and Sisko because they will be heavily involved in plot and will be NPCs.

Here is an application. Try to fill in as much as possible of it, but if you're having trouble let me know. You are limited to two characters, for now. If you can keep up with your two, you might be allowed to have more.

Any other questions let me know in the thread. I am open to answering any questions or concerns you may have.

I wanna express interest!

But what role? I like chief medical officer.. but I don't wanna commit to that if like I'll be the only one assigned to a ship

I think first office might be more fun for me really
The definition of a hero, at least in my mind, is someone who can protect what is right. To change and stop the wrong. To fight against the forces that seek to destroy you. And, at the very least ... live life well, and enjoy it with those you love.

slytherindoctor

Well you don't have to commit to that role now. You can wait for a bit and see what else people put down for characters. You could just go ahead and make the character and, if you like, have your character be a doctor that advances to command up to the post of first officer. You'd have to have some command experience to be a chief anything officer anyway.

Raziel

I'd definitely be interested in this, RP wise in Trek I can happily fill Captain, First Officer, Security or Engineer, wherever I'm needed.

mia h

If found acting like an idiot, apply Gibbs-slap to reboot system.

MaiMizzu

I think I'll make out an app for first officer. see if i can find a pic i like. let's start there!

By the by... if a lot of us do start on a starship, do you have a name and class for it yet? Or is that up to us (the crew) to help work out?

slytherindoctor

The name and number of the Starship is going to be down to the crew themselves to chose. I want everyone to be able to pick something personal that they like. You can come up with name ideas and we'll vote on it. It can be named after a previous ship or be an original name.

mia h

Well I think I might have a picture for the character, now all she needs is a name and a background  ;D

MaiMizzu

I need opinions.

My char will be female (most likely), and first officer rank.

Should she be human, vulcan or klingon?

Interested. Considering a male Betazoid (not half-human) employed in the same capacity as Counselor Troi.
Considering a permanent retirement from Elliquiy, but you can find me on Blue Moon (under the same username).

When you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.

Definitely interested here! Would like to stake claim as an Android perhaps.

Truman

If I can reverse the polarity flow of the creativity matrix, I'd be down for playing a techno-babble loving Starfleet type.

Depending on what other people want to do I'm fine with Medical, Science, Engineering or Security. Anything but Command.
Despite my user date, I'm still very new to actually using the site, so please have patience and assume ignorance rather than ill-will.

Actually, you really can't go wrong assuming I *am* wrong.

slytherindoctor

Alright so as the apps go up for characters, it's first come first serve on the command roles for the ship. All six roles will need to be filled before a new ship starts to be filled.

Raziel

I'll claim Captain then as it's not taken yet and can work on a bio, might hold off on gender though for a while in case we need to balance it out.

MaiMizzu

Wait.. forgive me if you said this already and I missed it.. but just what year will the RP be taking place?

This will start about the beginning of the 2390s and will continue into the 25th century.

Sounds perfect. I was initially attracted to the prospect of continuing in the 2009 reboot when I first saw this thread and made that faulty assumption, but this sounds very intriguing as well. I never gave much thought to the universe going further than Spock's red matter ordeal, so this presents interesting possibilities.

I certainly thought so. I'm very interested in the whole Romulan refugee thing, and my character will probably be just that: a Romulan refugee.

I certainly thought so. I'm very interested in the whole Romulan refugee thing, and my character will probably be just that: a Romulan refugee.

Did the Federation ever officially make an alliance, not unlike how they did with the Klingons, with the Romulans against an even greater threat? I swear I read that somewhere but can't remember. Obviously this isn't possible within this timeline but did it ever happen in a further future or something?

Yes it definintely did happen. In the timeline I put above I mention it. The Federation, Klingons, and Romulans allied together against the Dominion. That was the only time though.

Ah, I see. I didn't quite make it all the way through TNG so I never got far enough to see that or DS9 or anything after.

That's fine. Any of the information you'll need to know should be in the timeline as far as historical info. The big one, of course, is the destruction of Romulus.

Doomsday

Ohhh! Definitely interested! Been binging the heck out of TNG, almost halfway through season 5. I work with a lot of Trekkies and they got me hooked, looking forward to getting into DS9 when I'm done with this binge.

I'd like to stake a claim on security officer. Going to chew on the race and gender over the next day or so, I'll wait to see if we get too male or female heavy and will balance it out.

Debating between Deltan, Bajoran, Romulan, or plain ol' human.

slytherindoctor

I posted a map in the first post so everyone go check that out if you would like. It's not required, but it might be nice to see where many of the political boundries are as well as many of the planets and places mentioned in the timeline. I will periodically mention places in the plots as well that are based entirely on this map.

As soon as we fill up the first ship with the command officers we can begin the first plot point and start the OOC thread, and the ship's thread. Once the ship is full on command staff, if you have a character that you want to be a command staff that isn't part of that ship's crew, you can post in the Starfleet Command or Starfleet Academy threads until they get assigned to the next ship that fills up. Essentially they're waiting for their assignment.

Role: Officer
Rank:Commander
Major: Medicine
Command Role (if applicable):Commander, first officer

Physical Description
Gender:Female
Age:51
General Description:Slim, muscular build. Dark hair, she keeps it short generally.

Other Information
Orientation:Bisexual
O/O:See on/offs
General Description of Personality:While she knows the importance of being open and friendly to her crew, sometimes she can be closed off. Given her heritage, and the fact her homeworld was destroyed, this seeps into her personality sometimes. This will be her first assignment as first officer.
But once she starts to open up to others, she is very friendly and even playful at times. She can be charismatic, depending on her mood of course..

Skills
Skill 1- Medicine. Her major at the Academy, but she chose to go the path of command instead. She is well versed in the use of Starfleet medical diagnostic gear, as well as manual medical techniques. While her people were generally xenophobic, she enjoyed studying the medical needs of alien species, which came in handy while she attended the Academy.
Skill 2-She is a very good chef, specifically in Romulan cuisine of course. She rather enjoys preparing travit, one of her specialties.

History
Isha was born on Romulus in the Kae'raktar Mountains in 2339. Her parents were merchants, selling foodstuffs in the area. She grew up a seeming normal life for a young Romulan girl, but her parents would often try to steer her away from her aspirations to join the proud military. Her parents were actually in favor of ‘Unification’, the rejoining of Romulan and Vulcan heritages, which they tried to impress upon Isha early. But she wasn’t as idyllic as her parents. Such subjects would often become the sources of heated debates in their household.

When the Romulan Senate was assassinated, Isha felt the need to really do something to help her people. Again, she thought of joining the military. But despite how proud she seemed of that, she knew it would break her parents’ hearts. So she left Romulus on a freighter, and worked on that freighter for the next 8 years.

And then, her homeworld is destroyed. Her family is killed.

Devastated, she leaves the freighter that had been her home for 8 years. She knows there was nothing she could do to help her world, but she knows she could have perhaps done more to save her family. An illogical belief, perhaps, but that’s what her grief stricken heart told her. Having no world now to be a citizen of, she did as many Romulans did.. she fled to Earth. It wasn’t the ideal solution, but they would not have many choices in this. She immediately applied for Federation membership, given her refugee status. Shortly after.. she joined Starfleet Academy.

She excelled in her subjects, but she kept to herself a lot. She was a stranger in a very strange land, she knew of no other Romulan cadets. She graduated with honors from the Academy, specializing in Medicine. But her real aspirations leaned towards Command. Her first assignment was on board a small starship, the U.S.S. Antilles. She served on the medical staff, but trained for Command. She was driven to be in a position of Command, where she felt she could really make a difference.

I did say you could play a Romulan in the first post, so you're fine. I'd like to see a bit of an expansion of both the personality and the history, for instance, why did she want to join the Romulan military so bad other then helping people (because there are a million different ways you can do that)? What specifically about the military drew her in? What drew her to Starfleet post-apocalypse? Why did she join the military/scientific force of her (theoretically, especially if she wanted to join the Romulan military) former enemies? Is it because Starfleet is trying to help Romulan refugees?

I definitely like the angle you're going for though. I expect much of her desire to join Starfleet might be because she seems to not have any family. Which motivates her to help people to not have to be in that situation.

Basic Info
Name: Mikah Kel
Species: Joined Trill
Planet of Origin: Trill
Role (Cadet, Officer, Government): Starfleet Officer
Rank: Lt. Commander
Major (if Officer, what was your major in the Academy, if Cadet, what is current major, if Government, what was your major in college, if applicable?): Theoretical Physics.
Command Role (if applicable): Chief Science Officer

Physical Description
Gender: Male
Age (keep in mind that it takes a minimum of four years to graduate the Academy): 26
General Description (anything you think might be important): Fit, lean and naturally lightly tanned, with dark hair and eyes. Darker than average spots.

Other Information
Orientation: Gay
O/O: https://elliquiy.com/forums/onsoffs.php?u=47633
General Description of Personality (anything you think might be important): Mikah Kel is a steady, solid, often inspired but rarely impulsive officer and a good, if somewhat careful, friend. He's the kind of guy you want at your back or as your wingman. Usually. But every once in a while, a buried streak of swashbuckler and daredevil shows up. And then he does something either brilliant, semi-suicidal, or both.

Skills (things that your character is particularly good at, not necessarily related to their job, but can be, should be tied into their history)
Skill 1- Science. In addition to Mikah graduating with honors from the Academy science program, Kel is an old trill and has interests in several disciplines and fields.
Skill 2- Intrigue. Kel has been (among other things) a Federation intelligence officer in past lives. He gets skulduggery, sneakiness and politics.
Skill 3- Combat. Kel served in the Federation/Klingon war and as a 'privateer' (ahem) with previous hots. He's comfortable with a phaser or his fists.

History
Mikah has always excelled academically and was proud to be a candidate for joining, though his naturally cautious nature almost cost him the chance. His family is politically connected on Trill (and with the Federation diplomatic corps) and there was always an unspoken assumption that all the offspring of a given generation would end up the best and brightest their world had to offer.

His decision to undergo testing for Joining was probably his biggest act of personal rebellion in his entire life. Joined Trill are, after all, not entirely the same people they were before joining. And there is always a little distance there, because of the altered nature of the blended personality and usually some reserve on the part of the symbiont, who will live to see several trill families come and go in their long lifetime. His cautious streak was something he had to work on and was, frankly, unattractive to many symbionts, who were looking for hosts with a more apparent zest for life. Luckily for him, there was one potential match who needed a calmer, more collected host.

He was eventually joined with a symbiont named Kel. Kel is an older symbiont who has had seven previous hosts, four of whom died in accidents or violent confrontations. This gave Kel a reputation for being careless with his host's lives and a bad influence on them. Mikah was joined to Kel in the hopes their personalities would balance out. And it worked. The synthesis of their personalities and their shared love of science and understanding the universe around them made them more than the sum of their parts. Kel brought lifetimes of experience and a certain self-confidence that Mikah needed and Mikah was a moderating and thoughtful influence on his symbiont. A career allowing him to be on the forefront of research AND practical application seemed perfect to Mikah Kel and thus, for the third time, a Kel was enrolled in Starfleet Academy.

The combination worked well enough to get them through the Academy with honors and secure postings in space. Rising through the ranks, Mikah Kel has proven himself to be a steady officer with occasional flashes of brilliance, no doubt inspired by the lateral thinking of having seven previous lifetimes of experience to draw on.

Anything Else

Symbiont History
The Kel symbiote is about four hundred years old. He (because he thinks of himself that way while joined with a male host) has always been attracted to dangerous, interesting lives and has served in Starfleet twice before. His previous hosts and their careers are below:

Andra Kel (female) - Trill space explorer and early warp core theorist.
Janz Kel (male) - Third trill in Starfleet. Served in the Klingon/Federation war as a security officer. Died of neural degeneration due to disruptor fire.
Saiyal Kel (female) - Privateer for the Orion syndicate (operating with tacit Federation approval), harassing klingon shipping and military.
Brandas Kel (male) - 'Informal Archaeologist'. (What happens outside of Federation jurisdiction stays outside Federation jurisdiction). Died from battle wounds after romulan internal security intercepted his ship. Brandas escaped but returned to Trill fatally wounded. (His longest life.)
D'zan Kel (male) - Xeno-Zoologist. That ended about as one would suspect, based on past lives.
Kallas Kel (male) - Peacekeeper/detective on Trill homeworld.
Lorisa Kel (female) - Star Fleet Intelligence. Died in a grav-skiing accident on Mars. No, really. That's what the file says. Served before and during the cardassian  war. Personnel file heavily redacted.

Only four more roles needed before we start. The first officer and chief science officer spots are now taken!

Reading the thread the only role that nobody has staked any kind of claim on is the CMO.

Captain : Raziel
First Officer : MaiMizzu
Chief of Security and Tactical : Doomsday
Chief Medical Officer :
Chief Science Officer : Truman
Chief Engineer : Holmes

I was thinking of doing a tactical officer but I guess I'll just wait for the next ship to arrive then.  ;D

If the spot is already taken, you could go ahead and make the character and post in the Starfleet Command thread. Alternatively, your character could be a crew member on the first ship lower then the command level until the second ship gets filled up and the character is promoted to a command level position on the second ship.

Name: Zelara Barax
Species: Trill
Planet of Origin: Bajor
Role : Officer
Rank: Lieutenant
Major : Strategic Planning
Command Role : Intelligence Analyst\Tactical Officer

Physical Description
Gender: Female
Age : 24
General Description : Zelara is one of the shorter Starfleet Officers at 5'3", combine with her slight physique she is not a commanding physical presence.

Other Information
Orientation: Straight
O/O: yeap, got those
General Description of Personality : Zelara's personality changes with the situation she is in. Off duty she is very relaxed, friendly and generally the last one to suggest returning to barracks on a night out. When left alone to work on her intelligence duties she is incredibly single minded and focused, sometimes forgetting to eat or sleep when faced with an interesting problem. As a commanding officer Zelara is much less sure of herself, she thinks she won't be taken seriously  which isn't helped by her small stature which means she appears indecisive and nervous at times, and as a result isn't always taken seriously.

Skills
Skill 1 Strategema Grand Master. Proficient at a wide range of games that require tactical thought.
Skill 2 Proficient with a number of Bajoran musical instruments, but tends to play very non-Bajoran music on them.
Skill 3 Can reprogramme any replicator in the known universe.

History
Zelara's parents moved to Bajor from Trill shortly after the end of the Cardassian occupation, Zelara's mother is a nurse and her father a supplier industrial replicators where were sorely needed after the Cardassian's left. Zelara's father is particularly skilled at taking old replicator units, refurbishing them quickly and cheaply before selling them on as 'almost new' units, skills that Zelara picked up when she worked in the family's warehouse.

Zelara was born less than a year after her parents arrival on Bajor, so her upbringing has been heavily influenced by the Bajoran culture. While she is not a devout believer in the Prophets, she gained a great understanding and respect for the religion and even saw the Orb of Contemplation during a rare cultural display, an event that caused her closest Bajoran friend to join one of Bajor's religious orders. Thought her early life Zelara, demonstrated an almost uncanny knack of spotting patterns and more importantly spotting things that didn't fit, with her father predicting that she would either be a law officer or Bajor's most successful gambler. Ultimately it was Zelara's mother that suggested she join Starfleet, and use her talents there; if Zelara could see the patterns other people couldn't and predict what would come next then maybe Zelara could stop the next pandemic or humanitarian crisis before it started.

Once at Starfleet Academy, Zelara's talents were channeled towards military and strategic planning where she demonstrated the ability to out think and out maneuver much more experienced Officers during war games. After graduation Zelara was assigned to Starfleet Intelligence, where her analytic work soon got her noticed when she was able to track down kemocite smuggling operation. The operation successfully closed down the smuggler but Zelara's battle plan fell apart and the result was almost a disaster. Despite her ability to see the big picture, Zelara doesn't understand how people work under combat conditions and what can go wrong, to help with this problem she has been assigned as Tactical Officer aboard USS <insert name> to gain some much needed field experience.

Name: Isha Khellian
Species: Romulan
Planet of Origin: Formerly Romulus, now Earth
Role: Officer
Rank: Commander
Major: Medicine
Command Role (if applicable): Commander, first officer

Physical Description
Gender: Female
Age: 51
General Description: Slim, muscular build. Dark hair, she keeps it short generally. She’s 5’11”, weighs about 160 lbs. Isha has 4 small tattoos on her right forearm. They represent her mother, father and younger sister and brother.

Other Information
Orientation: Bisexual
O/O: See on/offs
General Description of Personality: Isha doesn’t want to forward the stereotypes of what a Romulan is. She loves her people, but she knows they have all sorts of bad rep outside of Romulan space. She wants to honor her people, and she feels the best way to do that is to exhibit the best of her people to outsiders. The passionate, compassionate, clever and simply beautiful parts of her people. This mentality is what has aided her to reach the rank she has in a relatively short amount of time.
She can be stern when she needs to be, but she always tries to be friendly at the same time. She believes in the concept of ‘team’, of doing what one must for the greater good of the group. Or the crew. Even when it’s painful to have to discipline someone, she knows she must. And she will, but in her own style.
Isha can be very charismatic and charming towards others. In fact she often tries to be. In the back of her mind, when she enters a situation involving those that aren’t Romulan.. she already has a hurdle to overcome. And she has, and that’s also part of the reason she has gained the rank she has.

Skill 3- Pilot. She’s a very accomplished pilot, having been taught at a very young age by her father. While working on the freighter, she was able to expand her knowledge of piloting and moreso mechanical engineering. Though that isn’t as much her strong suit. Once she joined the Academy, she was able to expand her knowledge moreso with Federation ships of all types.

History
Isha was born on Romulus in the Kae'raktar Mountains in 2339. She was the first born to T'Rehu (mother) and Lhaes (father), both of whom were merchants. Her father was also a pilot, and he taught young Isha to fly in their transport ship, which was little more than an antiquated and reoutfitted scout ship. Her parents were both patriots, but wanted nothing to do with the military. Unlike Isha’s uncle, Chavek. He was Lhaes’ brother, and was a high ranking officer in the Romulan Military. He would often visit their home and try to convince his brother and sister in law to join the military. And when Isha was born.. Chavek would often speak of the glory of the Romulan military, of how he wanted to be the sort of hero her felt their people needed in that age.

Isha loved listening to her uncle’s stories of war, of how he himself destroyed many Dominion ships during the war itself. Chavek would tell Isha of the great battles, of the heroes it made. Of glory for their people, even though they were aligned with former enemies. But it was of course the Romulan military that carried the major weight of the Dominion War.

So growing up, Isha would often have ‘debates’ with her parents about the military. She wanted to join the military, as her uncle did, and become a hero for her people. As her uncle did (or so she’s been told). But her parents forbade it, and it was a sharp point of contention between them. It got so bad that Isha felt she had to leave her family, her life. So in 2379 she left Romulas to work aboard a Romulan freighter.

It was exhausting work, but it was rewarding work. She saw much of the galaxy (well at least the Romulan territories), and she learned so much about how the universe worked. At this point she could have easily gone back to Romulus and joined the military.. but she respected the wishes of her parents. She didn’t agree with their views, but she respected and loved them enough to not go against their wishes. Even if they would never find out if she did or not.

She served aboard that freighter for 8 years, and while much of the crew came and went, Isha remained. She became one of the leaders of the crew, no matter it’s make up. And then in 2387, everything for Isha changed. Romulus is destroyed by a supernova. She knew there was some kind of danger to Romulus, a natural danger. But they were being assured that it was being dealt with, and really the danger was minimal. This was the word from her government. So Isha never felt the need to perhaps return home, to maybe try and help somehow. To make amends with her parents, whom she hadn’t spoken to since she left Romulus. And now, it was too late for all of that.

She left the freighter she had been working and living on for 8 years, and was allowed passage to Earth. To the heart of the Federation. She remembers her uncle’s stories of glory for her people, how he helped her people. How Chavek was a great hero.. she wanted to do that now. She wanted to help her people in any way she could, to be the great hero she knows she could be for the Romulan Empire.. for the scattered remnants of the now nearly extinct race. And she felt a good way to do that would be to join Starfleet. The former enemy of the Empire, once allied against the Dominion. Isha saw it as her chance to do good.. to make amends for her past foolishness.

There were many against allowing her to join Starfleet Academy.. but a group of Vulcan representatives would vouch for her. Recognizing, perhaps, her passion and want to aid those she can. They saw the logical potential of having a Romulan amongst the cadets.. and the rest of the Council were perhaps taken aback by her passionate plea for a chance. Nothing more. Just a chance.

And once she joined Starfleet, she proved her doubters wrong. She worked to excel in everything set before her. To work through every obstacle that was put in her path, even the occasional harassment and vague hazing. She went on to graduate with honors in medicine, and was one of the better pilots in her class. And after graduation, she had her first assignment. She would be part of the medical staff aboard the U.S.S. Antilles. But her scope was far beyond just medicine, she worked on gaining more of a reputation as a pilot, and in command. She took the command course tests as soon as she was eligible, and seemed to ace them. And with that, she immediately asked for a command assignment, and she got it..

The definition of a hero, at least in my mind, is someone who can protect what is right. To change and stop the wrong. To fight against the forces that seek to destroy you. And, at the very least ... live life well, and enjoy it with those you love.

I'm not 100% clear on how Betazoid eyes look, so whatever you can do to make him look convincingly enough like one, that'll be fine with me.

In Trek canon Betazoid's iris's are completely black, although I guess they don't have to be in our story.

I'm not opposed to that at all, I want him recognizable as not human as easily as possible. So if they are full-on dark, let's go with it. Also, I know Troi wore that weird jumpsuit that didn't seem to fit in with the rest of the crew's three color scheme but I think since their mutual field is basically medical, he should be a blue shirt, right? Or am I missing something?

Basic Info
Name: Otwin Miiro
Species: Betazoid
Planet of Origin: Betazed
Role (Cadet, Officer, Government): Officer
Rank: Lieutenant
Major: Psychology/Psychiatry
Command Role (if applicable): Ship's psychologist/counselor

Physical Description
Gender: Male
Age: 27 (nearly 28)
General Description: Youthful appearance, semi-serious face, fit, brown-haired, fair-skinned; would pass for human if his eyes were covered, otherwise his all-black irises betray his Betazoid origins

Other Information
Orientation: Straight
O/O: Pretty much only offs matter; excessive violence/pain, blood/injury, vore, and being the submissive. Everything else is fair game.
General Description of Personality: While so far completely successful at keeping his professional attitude during the appropriate times and occasions, in his off-duty he is extremely erratic, sometimes being a bit too impatient or sarcastic even to his friends due to his Betazoid characteristic of taking in emotional stimuli from all the sentient beings around him. Does come across as a bit lonely and depressed if not being actively engaged in conversation or in a place where many have gathered.

Skills
Skill 1- Telepathy and mind-reading. These skills are much more effective on fellow Betazoids who can also communicate telepathically but he can get glimpses into the surface thoughts of others if he focuses hard enough and they are actively thinking of something at the time.
Skill 2- Empathic sense. Whether a being is corporeal or not, able to communicate or not, or is lying about how they feel, their emotional state can be felt and interpreted with complete accuracy by Betazoids like Otwin. Things like feelings of rage and hostility can give him a heads-up if danger is around the corner.

History
Otwin's father died shortly before his birth on Betazed, which made him an only child and his mother become extremely overprotective of him. This did not bother him so much in the beginning but once his telepathic powers developed in preadolescence, he began to find it tiresome and consider his mother a meddler and worrywart. Frankness being common on Betazed due to the inability to hide untruths from one another, Otwin became extremely sarcastic in response to his mother's constant prying and couldn't get out of the house fast enough to join up with Starfleet and have an excuse to be as far away from his mother as possible. Not wishing to deal with other Betazoids for a while, he began education on Earth and, having only had limited contact with humans and other races while on Betazed, he found it much more peaceful and easy to deal with others' thoughts coming in without expecting responses or knowing he was hearing them. As it turns out he was not alone in having serious family drama and found it fascinating the sort of problems his schoolmates had and was able to make friends rather easily through his own prying, though this had the regretful drawback of making it difficult to form and maintain romantic relationships; he often wondered to himself, "How the fuck did mom and dad make this work?!"

Eventually he settled into what seemed like a natural field of study for him, psychology, later studying psychiatry and disorders that he could diagnose and treat, as well as methods of therapy and rehabilitation for the troubled or mentally ill. His field of expertise brought him into much more intimate contact with patients and he began to experience a bit more of their emotions being shared with him than before, often interfering with his own emotional state, though never to the point where it got out of control. But this has made him less prone to make close friends and yet the isolation is also an undesirable result, leaving him in somewhat of a no-win situation. However, he has seen so much good being done by his work that he believes it is worth the inconvenience and, knowing there are beings out there that are immune to probing by Betazoid telepathy, he awaits the day he can meet someone that he both finds appealing and with whom he doesn't have to worry about secrets being heard when they would rather not be.

Here's my first take. I greatly appreciate input and criticism. My experience with Star Trek is 4 and a half seasons of TNG and the Abrams movies so there might be some inaccuracies.

First edit, 6/10/15: Added more information about her time at Starfleet Academy, her motivations for choosing her post, more information about her previous assignment, also fixed her rank, she's technically a Lt. Co. Corrected her major and minor.

Basic Info
Name: Loda Yshtoll
Species: Deltan
Planet of Origin: Delta IV
Role (Cadet, Officer, Government): Officer
Rank: Lieutenant Commander
Major: Probability Mechanics, Minor in Security
Command Role (if applicable): Chief of Tactical/Security.

Physical Description
Gender: Female
Age: I'm not seeing any record of how Deltans age. Going to assume similar to humans, so let's say 30
General Description: Loda is a somewhat small woman, standing at 5'5", 106 lbs, but she's stronger than she appears to be and twice as fast as she should be. Her head (and the rest of the body, minus her eyebrows) is completely bald, but besides this common Deltan trait, her people are nearly indistinguishable from a typical human. Her body is a light tan, her eyes are very dark brown, as are her brows. Her petite form is well displayed by the tight-formed Starfleet uniform she wears, a yellow collar an indication of her station.

Other Information
Orientation: Bisexual
O/O: See player O/O's.
General Description of Personality: Loda is a quiet woman, not prone to conversation unless specifically engaged, and even then, might appear disinterested or distant, even if that is untrue. She has an interesting and perverted sense of subtle humor, more inclined to tell jokes that would make you slowly grin than to bust your gut laughing. Even in moments of dead seriousness she usually has a sarcastic or playful lilt in her voice. "Firing all torpedo banks, captain," she might say in a tone that has earned her reprimand for being flippant before, though she takes her role as chief of security/tactical more seriously than most perceive. Every once in a blue moon she has her bad or cranky day; a Deltan, such sexually liberated people, under a vow of celibacy is a recipe for frustration and loneliness and sometimes she can't help but snap at others, especially considering how many people are inclined to take a pass at her and tempt her to break that oath.

Skills
Skill 1- Aikido. She is an excellent martial artist and capable of handling most opponents unless significantly overpowered.
Skill 2- Painting. Loda is an artist masquerading as an accomplished Starfleet officer, and has taken many commissions from the people on board her ship for portraits, usually keeping a copy for herself for very personal reasons.
Skill 3- Calculator. She has an amazing knack for processing advanced formulas and equations in her mind. You know that she's dealing with abstract and theoretical mathematics when she actually has to write down her thoughts.

History
Loda Yshtoll, like the majority of her people, was born on their homeworld, Delta IV. The Deltans are not ambitious pioneers of the galaxy and prefer the comforts of their ancestral home, which had been a cultural Eden long before Terrans took their first long glance at the stars. Loda was entirely comfortable living in privilege and wealth with her family, an old clan of Deltan trading barons, until a Federation vessel visited her mother to settle a dispute between her and an angry Klingon captain who erroneously believed the Yshtoll matron to be deceiving him on a matter of a rather large-scale trade the two peoples had undertaken. The renegotiation of the original contract took place aboard the Federation vessel and the young Deltan girl was easily overwhelmed and enamored the romanticism of interstellar travel. Of course, those beautiful security officers and their tight, yellow uniforms were a lure for her too. Not bound by any federation oaths, Loda's mother enjoyed the company of several Starfleet employees during the week-long meeting that mostly took place in orbit of Delta IV. The Deltans were exotic to these outsiders, who were unaware of the subconscious telepathy exuded by Loda's mother, creating inviting images in their mind of her, as her body emitted euphoric pheromones passively into the air around her. Loda's mother was beautiful, but she had a stacked deck, as well.

When she came of age her mother allowed her to enroll at Starfleet; Prodigious as a child, Loda was not perturbed by the difficult Starfleet exams, though she was barred from entry on her first attempt after failing the cultural/racial interaction test, allowing herself to become romanced by one of her instructors, which would have been a violation of the oaths she would be made to swear if she were accepted. The next year, her exams went through. For her cultural test, she was told to enter another room and announce to a foreign diplomat visiting the academy that their wait would conclude shortly, and that they would be escorted to their ambassadorial chambers. A man and a woman of similar attire awaited her but Loda recognized the race as highly matriarchal, and she addressed the woman by her correct title while completely ignoring the man who was merely a personal guard.

The Deltan excelled at Starfleet Academy, choosing to major in Astrophysics. By the time she graduated the main 4-year program with Honors, Loda had decided to pursue a career in Ship Tactical and Security, intrigued by the high level of expertise required to arm, aim and fire weaponry and to maintain shield structure, believing that her gift with mathematics would someday be a great boon aboard a Federation starship... Her memory of those men of women of Starfleet that had visited Delta IV during her childhood, those handsome, brave men and women of security/tactical in their alluring yellow uniforms also helped to make up her mind. With her aspirations and academic excellency she was accepted into a 2-year Command training program, and once again completed it with Honors, obtaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander at the brief age of 25.

Her first assignment was aboard the USS Thunderchild, an Akira-class starship, whose primary assignment was assistance in the terraformation of sub-M class planets. It was a prestigious job- who wasn't thrilled by the idea of creating planets capable of sustaining life?- but boring, and eventually Loda requested a transfer to a commission that might see a little more action before her skills deteriorated. Someday, Loda aspires to be a captain herself, yet she believes that she is not yet worthy, and wants to put in her due before she would ever consider pushing for a role of First Officer. This has been perceived as a lack of ambition or an over-presence of humility by some.

Loda Yshtoll is now the chief tactical/security officer! We need only a captain, chief engineer, and chief medical officer before we start. Claim your spots now!

So far we've had interest in the captain and chief engineer spots. If no one claims the chief medical officer spot, I'll make a character for it so we can start.

Plugging in a First Officer for the 2nd ship:

Basic Info
Name: Arik Soong
Species: Soong type Android
Planet of Origin: Earth
Role (Cadet, Officer, Government): Office
Rank: Commander
Major: Command, minors in Helm/Nav and Tactical
Command Role (if applicable): First Officer

Physical Description Arik stands 5'11 tall and he weighs several hundred pounds though only appears to weigh about 170. His 'look' is almost stereotypical Starfleet military poster child, with a well formed haircut, slightly broad shoulders to a narrow waist, a square jaw, and generally handsome face. Unlike the previous styles of Androids, he looks fully human, though he also lacks blemishes, scars or other imperfections.

Gender: Male
Age: 14 (Appears early 20s)
General Description:

Other Information
Orientation: Unsure
O/O: Unsure
General Description of Personality: Arik tends to be curious about almost anything new, but also cautious of how image in front of others. Unlike others of his kind who came before, Arik has a strong sense of self awareness and tends to attempt to avoid embarrassment whenever possible. He is well mannered though somewhat aloof, his previous attempts at being 'one of the guys' having had mixed reactions.

At times he is perhaps overconfident, which can be off-putting to some, though overconfident may be the wrong word - he tends to know his exact capabilities, and humility is not an easily mastered human emotion.

Skills
Android Stuff- Not so much a skill, but a state of being. Arik is a Soong type Android with a manufactured body and positronic brain - that means he has all their usual attributes such as a self sustaining machine body, extreme calculations, access to many 'programs' and various skills, etc.
Singing/Guitar- Arik has taught himself to sing and play guitar (along with minor several other instruments).

History
Arik was named for the grandfather of the original creator of the Soong androids, a man whose actions made it possible for Noonian Soong to complete his creations. 25 years ago the remains of Noonian Soong's first creation, B-4, were found. Over the next decade a tiny team of Starfleet scientists used this information in addition to Data's Starlogs on himself, Lal and Lore, to reconstruct his work and improve upon it. The result, in the end, was Starfleet's latest Android - Arik.

Arik underwent rigorous study for the first couple years of his life, learning about himself and humans in an emotionally detached state. Eventually he chose an appearance for himself, and was enrolled in Starfleet Academy as a full time student. At times his schooling proved difficult - he had decided to go the Command route, which was a challenge for an android. Knowledge was easy, knowing the proper decision was generally easy, but inspiring others and the various other emotional aspects were, for obvious reasons, not as easy. Not only that, but for all that people were curious about him (usually quite friendly even), it was difficult for others to see an android giving orders in training scenarios and the like. But Arik still stuck through it and in the end graduated with honors.

Upon graduation he was assigned to his first ship where he excelled at his roles, quickly earning promotions in his early years. Eventually he found himself as the conn officer/flight controller onboard the USS Thomas Paine, a New Orleans class starship. During their travels the ship encountered a remnant from the Romulan homeworld, a ship with an enraged captain, still angry at what had happened and blaming the Federation for what happened to their homeworld several years prior. A fight broke out and both ships were terribly damaged with high casualties on both sides. Most of the command crew of the USS Thomas Paine were killed or out of commission almost immediately due to a hit to the bridge and Arik took command as next in charge. Things looked bleak for them, however, as they were outmatched by the warship. Arik opened communications in an attempt to buy time, or change their foes' minds, but he was unable to fully understand the Romulans' motivations due to his lack of emotions.

Feeling he had no choice, he did something he'd been putting off for years. They had said it was there when he was ready, but he'd always had some excuse. Finally, however, he activated his emotion chip. Flooded by emotions he was barely able to maintain awareness, but soon enough he was able to pull himself together. He pleased with the Romulans for his crew and cried for his foes at the loss of their homeworld. Taken aback by this change, the Romulans at first didn't know how to react. A passionate race, they were suddenly curious by this man who was moments ago more like a Vulcan than a man who was now suddenly changed. Eventually they came to terms, ending in peace.

Arik received multiple commendations for his effort, much to his embarrassment (yet another new emotion to deal with). He's spent the last year back at Starfleet Academy, teaching classes and learning about his emotions while the USS Thomas Paine underwent massive repairs and renovations. However when it came time to head back to space new orders came in, along with a promotion...

Here's my Bio

Captain's Bio
Basic Info
Name: Kianna Vox
Species: Joined Trill
Planet of Origin: Trill
Role (Cadet, Officer, Government): Starfleet Officer
Rank: Captain
Major: Tactical Analysis
Command Role (if applicable): Commanding Officer of ship #1

Physical Description
Gender: Female
Age: 32 (Host), 235 (Symbiont)
General Description: Standing at 5’9, Kianna has a slim but athletic build with hazel eyes.

Other Information
Orientation: Bisexual
O/O: As a Joined Trill spending several lifetimes as both genders Kianna is very open sexually speaking, although there are a few things that she will refuse to do including: Gore, Humiliation, blood play, scat.

General Description of Personality (anything you think might be important): A friendly and outgoing person, with a jovial and light-hearted sense of humour; Kianna is a very comfortable in her own skin and not afraid to use it in a flirty manner to distract an enemy if required. She likes to get to know the people under her and prefers to leave rank at the door when off duty.

Skills (things that your character is particularly good at, not necessarily related to their job, but can be, should be tied into their history)
Skill 1- Tactics. Spending several lifetimes as a tactical officer and serving during several wars, Vox has a very tactical mind when it comes to warfare and battle strategies.
Skill 2- Combat. Having served through numerous wars during his lifetimes, Vox is a skilled combatant, and is proficient in several types of beam weapons, preferring a phaser rifle and Kianna has spent years learning to master the Klingon Bat’leth.
Skill 3- Diplomacy. Thanks to one of his previous hosts Vox knows how to negotiate when needed.

History
Kianna was born in Leran Manev, the capital city of Trill in 2358 to Lianl and Tanara Inneris. Kianna was always interested in the Trill culture especially the joining of a Trill and their Symbiont and was determined to become joined.
Inspired by her father, Kianna enlisted in Starfleet at the age of 18. She graduated four years later third in her class, having decided to follow the Security & Tactical track. Kianna showed natural ability to handle ground weapons as easy as writing her name was, going the tactical route was a logical decision for her. She was assigned to the U.S.S. Endurance as a tactical officer upon her graduation.
During her semesters off she would travel back to Trill and complete the tests required by the Symbiosis Commission for Joining. As it is required that a candidate prove themselves before joining, the Commission kept a close eye on Kianna’s progress throughout her time at the academy and her time on board the Endurance.
When it was time for them to choose a Field Docent for Kianna, the Commission chose former Starfleet Captain Ezri Vorel for the task. Having received a positive recommendation from Ezri the Commission placed Kianna on the list.
In late December 2389, Enyra Vox, a Doctor serving with Starfleet and the then current host of the Vox Symbiont died while on an away mission. Vox however survived and was returned to Trill. Vox, having looked at the profiles on all the applicants approved for joining, one stood out for him, a young woman by the name of Kianna Inneris. Her overall record was outstanding and he liked the fact that the kid was a joker and had a sense of humour much like his own.
The Symbiosis Commission however had other ideas. With symbionts a rarity among the Trill and with both of Vox’s previous hosts dying while serving in Starfleet they urged Vox to choose someone else, Vox however had made up his mind.
In early January of 2390 Kianna Inneris was joined with the Vox Symbiont and became Kianna Vox shortly before her promotion to Captain and assignment to her new ship.

The Vox Symbiont
Vox was born on Trill in the year 2155, and is infamous on Trill as being one of the most atypical Symbionts in Trill history, in that out of eight hosts, four of them have served with Starfleet. He is also regarded as one of the luckiest given the number times during his long lifetime he has managed to cheat death, although Vox himself considers it as either a skill or a gift depending on his mood.

Vox has had the following hosts:
• Lain Vox, female - Psychologist. Host from 2155 - 2203
• Cyrus Vox, Male – Musician. Host from 2203 - 2273
• Tlara Vox, female - Stella Cartographer. Host from 2273 - 2333
• Sorin Vox, female – Starfleet – (Conn Officer). Host from 2333 - 2365
• Rena Vox, female – Diplomat/Politician. Host from 2365 - 2375
• Enyra Vox, Female - Starfleet Medical Host from 2375- 2390
• Kianna Vox, Female - Starfleet Tactical/Captain Host from 2390 – Present
________________________________________
Lain Vox, the first host of the Vox Symbiont led as simple life on Trill as a family psychologist and mother to three children until her death in 2203.
________________________________________
After Lain’s death, Vox was transplanted into another host and became Cyrus Vox. Wanting something different for this life, and given Cyrus’s natural musical talent, Vox joined the Trill Music Society and travelled with them as their guitarist, for the majority of his life.

However tragedy struck in 2373 when, while travelling to Earth to perform at a concert the shuttle the group was in suffered an overload in their EPS grid. A console next to Vox’s bunk exploded, severely injuring him. A passing Starfleet ship returned the passengers to Trill, where Cyrus died a few days later as a result of his injuries. Luckily Vox managed to survive.
________________________________________
After the shuttle accident Vox decided to return to the simple life and became a Stellar Cartographer, creating maps of the known galaxy before settling down, getting married and starting a family.
________________________________________
Sorin was by  far the most adventurous hosts Vox had been joined with. Her desire to explore the galaxy combined with her talent at flying made joining Starfleet and pursuing a career as a pilot one of the easiest decisions of Vox’s lifetimes.

Sorin served in Starfleet for thirty two years until her death in a terrorist attack while visiting the Trill Homeworld. Again the Vox Symbiont narrowly avoided death.
________________________________________
Rena was and still is the youngest host Vox has ever taken, being joined at the age of 16. As a result of the attack Vox needed to be transplanted into a new host quickly or else it would die and Rena was the only potential host candidate available at the time.

Rena studied to become a diplomat on Trill and after only five years became the youngest ambassador in Trill history. Ten years later she brokered a peace treaty between the Renkari and the Treldor, two warring species whose space was in the outer rim of the Alpha Quadrant.
_______________________________________
Enyra Vox had a successful and rewarding Starfleet career serving on several vessels, before becoming Chief Medical Officer on board the U.S.S. Morning Star, an Olympic class hospital ship in 2385.

In late 2389 Enyra was mortally wounded on an away mission, at the age of 53. Once again, luck more than anything prevented serious injury to the Vox Symbiont.

Zealously Jaded

Basic Info
Name: L'Ther Freya (L'Ther is her family name, Freya is her first name)
Species: Bajoran
Planet of Origin: Bajor
Role (Cadet, Officer, Government): Officer
Rank: Lt Commander
Major: Medicine, Xenobiology. (Minor in Bajoran culture)
Command Role:Chief Medical Officer

Physical Description Freya is relatively tall at 5ft10, her body type is slender and works out regularly. She has long dark brown hair, blue eyes and the wrinkled nose of Bajorans. She has a scar down her right thigh where she broke her femur falling down the stairs wearing a ceremonial gown, so when she's tired or the area is damp she tends to limp.
Gender: Female
Age: 28
General Description (anything you think might be important):

Other Information
Orientation: Straight.
O/O: My O/O's
General Description of Personality:
Outspoken/opinionated She is incredibly outspoken, especially if she is right, and she usually is. She does not intimidate easily except by her mother.
Ritualistic She may not notice she's doing it, but she has replaced rituals from her Bajoran life to her own rituals, doing the same things in the same order before going to bed, sitting in the same chair in the mess, having the same meal on the same day each week. The way she stirs her tea 3 times, to how she walks thought the sick bay in the morning. Everything is a ritual, whether she realises it or not.
Conflicted: Her religion use to play a huge part to her, now...not so much, since her father's death she put her faith in science and medicine instead of chants and healing concoctions. Yet deep down she feels like something is missing, that doesn't help when she speaks to her mother, she misses her home and her people.
Methodical: Medicine doesn't always adhere to orderly method but she'd rather take extra time to do everything then rush to get them out of sick bay, after all she was the only medical student to correctly diagnose the Antaran Lung Worm instead of the Barzan Lung worm. (One has pointy teeth, the other a proboscis.)
Caring: Freya cares for everyone on the ship, it is her duty to ensure that they are healthy, seeing them laying on a bed in sick bay is a last resort. She has no qualms about setting on a ensign in the corridor and making sure they are eating right, or sleeping enough.
Obsessive: She has this need to know everything...if there is something wrong she will not stop until she knows what it is, how it happened and how to get rid of it. She is like a dog with a bone in that respect.
Clumsy: For some reason her body likes to connect with the ground more often then it should.

Skills
Skill 1- Medicine, this is a great passion of hers, she wants to heal the sick, patch the wounded and make sure that no one has to die.
Skill 2- Bajoran rituals, this is not a skill she wants to be knowledgeable in, but she is non the less. She knows a lot of the rituals and could easily perform them if necessary.
Skill 3- Hand to hand combat (providing she's not being clumsy).
Skill 4- The belaklavion, not that she wanted to learn it, she is out of practice.

History Freya grew up on Bajor just as the Cardassians were being removed, she didn't remember much of that time. She mainly had to keep her head down and not draw attention to herself. Her father was a founding member of the provisional government, she was able to hear a few of his speeches, preaching change and acceptance, to not hold animosity against the Cardassians, “because isn't forgiveness better for the soul then hatred'. A few people hated him for that, they couldn't his words, or forgiveness, at one of his speeches they smuggled in a blade and stabbed him. He didn't die for hours, she was forced to sit beside him and chant as tears streamed down her face, why could he not see a doctor? Her mother was convinced that doctors would only make it worse that it was right to go into death surrounded by his loved ones, she was 7 when he died.

Once her father passed her mother remarried, they moved from the city to a small village, her mother became the local midwife. However that didn't stop her from trying to heal everyone. Freya helped with the chanting ceremony for many years, most babies lived, some died, 'the will of prophets' her mother would tell her, but she was sure that there could be a place on Bajor for real medicine as well as religious healing.

Before her father died he traveled to DS9 to talk to Major Kira and Commander Sisko, she would join him. There were so many species she had never met before, and her small feet made her way frequently into the sick bay, much to the chagrin of Dr Bashir. With the passing of her father she kept in contact with Bashir and Kira, they guided her to where her true path was, Star Fleet medical training.

When Sisko disappeared she mourned his loss, he had disappeared, why did he suddenly leave? She was sure something had happened to him, if he was still alive he would somehow contact Star Fleet. Her mother on the other hand was singing his praises that he had 'taken his place among the prophets, he had helped bring peace to their people, and despite the fact he wasn't born Bajoran, through his actions he became one of them'. To Freya he was a great Commander, who had taken a difficult position during a time of war and had handled himself well, perhaps the pressure was too much and he just needed to get away, she knew her people could be trying. She argued a lot about this point with her mother, until it was deemed not to be spoke about by her step-father.

Once she turned 18 she told her mother she was leaving, that the small town in Bajor was too small for her, that she didn't want to be a midwife. Her mother was angry, refusing to let her leave, until her husband showed that it was the will of the prophets, that she was destined to go. Their relationship is strained at best, religion is such a huge part of her mother's life and counter to how Freya feels now that there seems like little hope of resolution.

At the academy she had almost perfect marks, her leg being a main issue with endurance as it tires easily. She finds the medical side easy, it's almost like second nature to her. She passed the academy with amazing grades and worked briefly on DS9 before heading to another ship, one a little more exploratory. There was a slight incident a year into their mission, the CMO went on an away mission to a planet that was deemed safe. It wasn't. The only part of him that came back was his com badge and his left foot. Since she was the only other Medical officer she was now in charge and some how got everyone back to Earth in one piece.

No one was willing to take away her CMO status, she had spent a year in the position, but she was needed on a new ship with new crew members and hopefully no one would be devoured by Targen Sandsnakes.

Just for my own sanity, Ship #1 is missing a Science Officer, and after that Ship #2 needs :

Chief Medical Officer
Chief Science Officer
Chief Engineer

Ship #1 still hasn't had the Chief Engineer position filled. The one person said they wanted it, but the app hasn't appeared yet.

Ship #2 most definitely does have a captain which I will be playing. Awhile ago I said don't touch the captain position.

Species: Xenexian

Role (Cadet, Officer, Government): Officer
Rank: Lieutenant
Major (if Officer, what was your major in the Academy, if Cadet, what is current major, if Government, what was your major in college, if applicable?):Engineering, Applied Warp theory, Slipstream theory
Command Role (if applicable): Chief Engineer

Physical Description
Gender: Female
Age (keep in mind that it takes a minimum of four years to graduate the Academy): 29
General Description (anything you think might be important):Like most Xenexian's Erica has Purple eyes she however has something that sets her apart from other Xenexians, her red hair. Only one percent of Xenexians have the hair colour historians believe it was a trait of the ruling clan on Xenex before the Danteri all but wiped them out. She is fairly tall and has a pale complexion common with someone from the northern continent.

Other Information
Orientation: Bisexual
O/O: Ons: Light bondage, multiple partners, touching, licking. Offs: humiliation, bathroom play, heavy bondage, bestiality
General Description of Personality (anything you think might be important):
Erica is generally quiet but has very positive outlook despite everything she's been through. She has a dark sense of humour compared with most starfleet officers from more "civilised" worlds and she can find herself in socially awkward situations because of this. Erica is very open about her sexuality and has gained something of a reputation for sleeping around during her previous posting. She has a habit of using a number of colourful Xenexian words or phrases that the universal translator has trouble with.

Skills (things that your character is particularly good at, not necessarily related to their job, but can be, should be tied into their history)
Skill 1- Engineering: Her great passion and a point of pride with her parents.
Skill 2- Hand to hand combat: Her mother taught her some advanced Xenexian martial arts.
Skill 3- 3D chess: She picked up the game in the academy and won several organised tournaments

History

Xenex still bore the scars of the occupation of the Denteri decades before. The Xenexian people are divides into a number of clans. Like the Cardasians with Bajor the Dentari could no longer hold onto the world and withdrew.

E'kr'aa Spent most of her childhood with most of the cities on  her homeworld being rebuilt after the Danteri occupation, her parents were both engineers and she grew up around machine parts and engineering texts. By her early teens she was correcting her parents work and designing more efficient fusion reactors. She seemed to have a knack for mathematics and a keen interest in technology sometimes staying up late just tinkering with things.

Her hair colour brought certain expectations in Xenexian society, at sixteen the marriage proposals started to flood in bit E'kr'aa was having none of it. Her parents were offered money and better standing within the clan but wouldn't budge caring more about their daughter than wealth or power. She didn't want to be another trophy wife for some far off clan leader.

As soon as she was old enough she joined Starfleet specialising in Engineering, she had always wanted to work on starships and the Xenexian defence fleet consisted of mostly small interceptors. She tried to fit in at the academy and seemed to get along with the Bajoran classmates due to certain cultural similarities.  She graduated from the academy a year earlier than expected and got a posting on-board the USS. Phoenix, a certain Xenexian Captain seeing her potential. She quickly notoriety on-board for her engineering skills but also her sexual exploits though there was only really good natured teasing.

While on the Phoenix she took part in an ill fated away mission on a Cardasian Occupied world. The years following the Dominion war had left the Cardasians a fragmented people and a Gul turned warlord Named Datak had taken control of the planet. What was supposed to be an aid mission as part of a joint Federation/Cardasian post war clean up effort turned into a bloodbath and the Phoenix was destroyed.

Gul Datak was only supposed to patrol the area but had instead taken control of the planet. He set a trap for the Federation aid mission to get hold of starfleet weapons and possibly another ship for his small fleet.

She was the only survivor of the away mission and was held captive for three weeks. She was rescued when a joint Starfleet and Cardasian task force liberated the planet The experience left her a bit shaken and she refuses to talk about what happened to her. She was near death when she was rescued and it took her several months to recover.

She still keeps in touch with the survivors from the Phoenix though mourns the loss of her friends in engineering who stayed at their posts to give the rest of the crew time to evacuate. She feels a little bit of survivors guilt at having been the only survivor from the away mission.

Anything Else
Like most Xenexians Erica can consciously regulate her body temperature to some extent.

I could just slightly alter the one I had for First Officer of the other ship and bring him over as the fresh Captain here.

slytherindoctor

It's probably going to be long term. I don't want to have very much captain swapping as that can be quite bad for a ship's morale. Unless a captain gets promoted directly to admiral, the ship will keep the same captain.

Raziel's character can be put on a different ship later or adjusted to be a different role other then captain.

Basic Info
Name: Zeynep Mesia
Species: Human
Planet of Origin: Earth (Istanbul, Turkey)
Role (Cadet, Officer, Government): Officer
Rank: Lieutenant junior grade
Major: Stellar Cartography
Command Role (if applicable): Chief science officer

Physical Description
Gender: Female
Age: 29
General Description: Zeynep is quite tall for a human woman. She has a deep dark tan that nicely matches her dark hair and eyes. She is quite curvaceous.  Her muscle tone is soft enough to be classified as unpronounced, but she is deceptively strong.

Other Information
Orientation:Straight
O/O: O/o's
General Description of Personality: Zeynep is one in a long line of Starfleet officers. However, she lacks the seriousness and almost natural sense of duty some of her ancestors, both men and women, did have. She sees her life as one big adventure, with herself as the main heroine. Her loose and flirtatious nature got her in problems on more than one occasion, both at the academy and in her subsequent starfleet career. She has managed to stay clear of any formal scandal, which would have disrupted her career.

Skills (things that your character is particularly good at, not necessarily related to their job, but can be, should be tied into their history)
Skill 1- She is a very good judge of character and is right more often than not with her first impressions of people.
Skill 2- Astrometrics wizard: The one place where she has always felt at home in spite of her other misgivings about Starfleet is the Astrometrics lab.
Skill 1- Flirtatious: She likes to flirt and seduce and is quite good at it, though she does not always have the wisdom to see the problems it might cause her professionally.

History
Both of her parents were crewmembers on ships that were perpetually on deep space missions. She was born in her mother’s home town because her mom wanted to give birth there. Her parents thus got leave near the time of her birth, but left to their posting again within a couple of weeks of her being born. She and her brothers were literally raised in this life. They knew no other life, so Zeynep was already quite grown up before fully realizing that her upbringing was not the norm and that there might have been experiences she missed out on by being a space brat. Her two older brothers wade blitz careers, and her oldest brother, Volkan, was very close to his first command. This was due to his brilliant grades at the academy as well as the good family name and tradition of serving in Starfleet.

Although born in Instanbul, Zeynep spent most of her childhood on starships, until her parents deemed it time for her to enroll into the academy. At the time of her enrollement, Zeynep was perhaps too young to object, though the realities of her time there did give her some pause. She was a lackluster student, who was more interested in romantic escapades than getting good grades. However, she never allowed her academic undertakings to drop below a certain level and risk being kicked out of the academy. She further honed a life-long interest in stellar cartography by opting for that as her major. She was at her most happy at the academy whilst in the Astrometrics Lab. Beyond that, she did enjoy her time living on Earth, especially in California, learning about the experiences she missed out on as a child.

Unfortunately, her romantic behavior did not improve once she became a full-fledged member of the fleet, and she bounced around from ship to ship, always getting herself and sometimes numerous other crewmembers in trouble before (discretely) being relocated. Her reasons for getting into trouble were mostly her choice of partners, with her hooking up on several occasions with direct superiors and thus lending said relationships with an air of impropriety and abuse of power on the part of the superior officer. The worst experience in that regard was when she engaged in a relationship with an XO which led to him getting formally reviewed and reprimanded for his behavior.

Her favorite posting was on Starbase Tesla, where she made several friends and engaged in a genuine romance. Unfortunately, that posting was cut short when the station was decommissioned.  Zeynep owes this next great opportunity on her new ship to both her older brother and her parents calling in favors on her behalf. Though her own experience and work in the field of Stellar Cartography has earned her a positive reputation as well, in spite of her more personal issues. The jury is still out on if this will sway her to better said behavior…

Hey, I have an idea for a Captain and I even have a ship if you don't mind, the only thing I need to know is what year the game is taking place before I do anything.

slytherindoctor

Well as far as captain positions, we don't have any of those at the moment. You'd have to wait for the third ship which will be quite awhile since we have to fill in the second ship first.

The current year, though, is the late 2390s, about 2397 or 2398 at the turn of the 25th century.
