I think it has a secondary deflector as it is an actual planetary landing vehicle, and the ships which can enter all atmospheres tend to have back up systems, because having at least one backup, if not two, is the Federation way.

I agree with Barn's comment here. I also think that the Nova could be used intra-planetary and underwater.

Aether

It has landing skids, and of course, the Waverider, which is listed as an atmospheric only vehicle...

Okay, I will keep my altering ideas at bay and roll with it.  At least the Rhodes is on the table!

Barnbean

Wasn't trying to quash creativity and ideas, I was just explaining why they likely have the systems in place they do on the ship.    It should be noted that the Rhodes variant is larger than the standard version because they have moved the deflector section forward thus removing the indent in the hull and adding space to the hull.

HockeyGod

We can have secondary systems and a party room!  ;D

I wonder, could Zeynep (my character from the Tesla thread) be temporarily be reassigned to this new ship? :)

I think it could be arranged. Can you hit me up with the character link?

HockeyGod

From the first post:

I'm interested in starting a new group game set in the Star Trek TNG time line. Specifically set around the time of ST: Nemesis (movie where the Enterprise goes to Romulus). Implications - Dominion War over, Voyager back, etc.

It would take place on a ship - I'm thinking Nova class, but could be convinced for Sovereign if we want a bigger ship. The ship will most likely NOT have a marine detachment. Marines are extremely popular in online ST RPGing, but not so in the series. I could be convinced if you really want to play a marine.

At this point, no positions are being assigned.

This is only an interest thread.

The game will be most likely placed in the light section.

You need to be comfortable with all sexualities to play in this RP. You won't ever be forced into a situation that would make you uncomfortable, but others around you may enjoy experiencing various scenarios you may not enjoy.

i'd actually argue more for galaxy or intrepid class, because the soverigns are rare as hell (depending how far after nemesis i believe at the time there were only 10 in service at the time of the movie) and while the nova does look cool and fits with starfleets intentions of things as a science and resarch thing, it does limit us on survivability in combat which was one of the things that made startrek interesting the fights.  which is why the main ships in tng and voyager wernt the best combat boats or the best sensor boats but they were average in both

Ryven

Are we expecting many combat engagements?  Also, if we're going to be in or near Federation space, I don't think the danger of combat will be that great.  I'd also hope that before we are sent somewhere, we'd be given a briefing as far as what to expect.  If possible, a more apt combat vessel could escort us on more dangerous endeavors.

You sound like an excellent candidate for Chief Engineer  ;D

I was thinking that our Nova class would be slightly experimental with new weaponry and even newer propulsion systems including warp conduits and wormhole technology (time travel anyone?).

I guess what I'm saying is I'm amenable to changing the canon Nova specifications to add some interesting twists.

Oh, I wish I hadn't seen this. My track record for group games is pretty abysmal, but I love me some Trek! (my second favorite sci-fi franchise.) I'd love to play, really I would, but I fear I cannot commit...  :'(

You could always have a minor character / junior officer or be a guest spot sometime ;)

ReijiTabibito

It would appear that we've got more players than Chief [] Officer spots.  And yes, I am interested.

Also, for good notes on the Nova and the Rhode Island, check out Memory Alpha, the ST Wiki, here: http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Portal:Main

I think we do have a good number so far! I'm working on the bio sheet right now so we can start filling slots. I'll get the information out to all of you so you can get started soon.
