It saddening to hear of the passing of a such a noble author. He wrote the first novel I ever purchased, 2010, and reading his books are among my dearest favorite memories. His books greatly influenced my interests and lifelong love of reading and writing. Few contemporary authors have so greatly influenced global interest in space and exploration.

Crumbs.  I mean, I am really glad that he made it to 90 -- 90! -- but I can't help but wonder what he was planning to offer us next.  And, needless to say, he was always planning to offer us more.  The fact that his work can often be found embracing spirituality instead of ignoring it or scorning it (as did the work of many of his peers) never failed to inspire me.

Thanks for everything, Clarke.  R.I.P.
