Carmine while tall for his Italian heritage still isn't a towering figure. Yet that doesn't stop the majority of Gotham from feeling that he is. He stands at around 5'11, with a form that while aged, is still sculpted from his time as an Enforcer for his father. A few scars riddle his form of course, but none as prominent as the strange bullet wound just to the left of his heart. A reminder of his young life.
== Persona ==
Carmine can move from perfectly congenial to vicious at the drop of a hat. This isn't a sign of any mood swings, but simply his practiced control of his temper. He can let loose this control at just the proper points to maximize it's effect, making him quite feared by even his own men. To put it honestly, Carmine can be considered no less then a high functioning Sociopath. No remorse for the lives of others, only his family matters. And even those can be dispensed if the situation calls for it.
== Key Skills ==
Close Combat: while never trained in formal martial arts, Carmine is quite skilled at brawling and use of all manner of common melee weapons. From fists to bats, from knives to bottles. He'll be the first to explain the distinct difference between a fighter and a martial artist.
Marksman: Not the best by any means, but he's still a crack shot.
Aggressive Diplomacy: from intimidation, to show of force to knowing when to let up his grip a bit. Carmine has been doing this for a long time, and is very good at it.
Economics: he isn't the premiere crime boss in Gotham city for no reason.

Resources: Carmine has a lot of money, and plenty of crones, goons and enforcers. He's not short on help, nor cash to fund operations.
Ruthless: Known as "The Roman", he earned that title aptly.
Determination: he doesn't give up easily at all.

Bad Temper: someone skilled at the art can cause him to lose his head. And when his temper is not controlled, he makes mistakes.
Family: while yes, they aren't indispensable; they are still family. Capture and kidnapping can go far to helping influence him. Especially with what the family member in question might know.
Aged: Age brings skill, but it also leads to declining health. Achy joints and old injuries have conspired to leave him slower then he was as a younger man.

Carmine Falcone was born the second oldest son of Vincent Falcone. At first this was clear what his role in the family was. As they became older, he was to make sure his father and brother went as unopposed as was possible. His minor role as an enforcer began in his teen years, and further advanced into his early twenties. It was at this point that fate seemed to have a change of heart. His brother and he were attacked by a rival family, and despite Carmine's attempts his brother was killed.

Of course, Carmine wasn't unscathed himself. Having taken a bullet too close to the heart, he needed surgery and quick. Vincent knew he would not be able to take his son to the hospital, so in a desperate moment to save his last heir, he begged Thomas Wayne to perform surgery on his son inside the confines of Wayne manor. For one reason or another, Thomas agreed. And it was here that the story of "The Roman" began. After the death of his brother, Carmine became more ruthless. He was now the heir to his father's legacy and wanted to strike back at the rivals that had done this to them.

Vincent urged his son have caution, though; so for another three years the two argued over how to proceed. Feeling his father had grown soft, Carmine orchestrated a hostile take over of the Falcone Family. Most of the men were already loyal to him, so it came easier then it might have otherwise. And with his father out of the way, the young Mob Lord began his strikes at the other families. First was the one in which shot him and his brother. He made a show of them, their leaders killed off in humiliating ways while their resources were absorbed.

The reign of "The Roman" empire had begun. And since then, Carmine has had little in the way of hard competition. That is until recently when a new comer calling himself Janus has appeared. Carmine isn't too worried at present time. Just an ant that needs to be squashed. Yet his men, those that have seen the followers of the charismatic Janus have come to worry. They haven't pushed, but "The Roman" senses this. And so the time is drawing close where he'll have to make a show.

Helena stands approximately 5’ 7”, is slim, with olive tanned skin, and a soft face, delicately featured, almost charmingly elfin, and dominated by a pair of wide, hazel eyes. Her hair in a dark auburn in color, worn in a slightly below the shoulder length style. She has no tattoos, piercings, or unnatural marks on her body. Her right shoulder has a mass of scar tissue from a bullet wound, and her left wrist has a small burn mark from an accident with the stove as a child.

== Persona ==

Helena, during her day job as a junior high teacher at Lieberman High, is the very picture of responsible. She believes it is her job and calling to shape the mind of the young boys and girls in her classes. She takes that responsibility very seriously, often going above and beyond with help with assignments, extra credit, amongst other things. She finds giving them a hope for a future that was denied to her very rewarding.

However, inside there is a rage, whether for the life that was taken from her or the family lost not even she can say for sure. She strikes out, some nights with reckless abandon at the most convenient target, sometimes continuing her mission to bring down the families of Gotham.

== Key Skills ==

Expert Marksman: She has spent thousands of hours honing her skills with the crossbow, to the point where she can load; reload in seconds, and hit targets no larger then the size of a penny.

Kenpo: She has spent many an after school day in different martial arts schools, finally settling on Kenpo as her chosen field, focusing on the hard blocks and strikes.

Bo staff: What time she doesn’t devote to the other things that fill up her life, she spends practicing and drilling with the bo as well, finding the reach it provides very effective.

Athletically gifted: She’s been practicing gymnastics since an early age, and as such is as physically fit as one can be.

Absorbing/processing facts: Being a teacher, and having focused her education on learning and teaching she finds it rather easy to piece together facts, clues. While she’s no great detective, she can put together a puzzle.

Reputation She has no problem putting down criminals that she feels deserve it, and the knowledge of that fact helps in the image she projects during her nightly activities.

Never Say Die: She refuses to quit, even when it would be healthier, saner, and overall the best choice.

Temper: She’s known to have a bout of rage, leading her to blindly lashing out and taking risks and chances that she probably shouldn’t, leaving her vulnerable.

No Higher Education: While she has practiced her chosen martial arts extensively, along with her weapons, she’s never trained with a true master of these arts. This makes her better then the average fighter but still not up to a “masters” level.

Lack of Funds: While she did have a trust fund set up as a child, a lot of this went towards her college education as well as her startup of her night venture. She does not have the bottomless wealth, or the inclination to steal those others in her line of work do.

Helena Bertinelli was born to Francis and Carmela Bertinelli in Chicago, growing up in an almost normal lifestyle despite her parent’s involvement in the family business. Francis was the Boss of the Bertinelli Mafia, an organization that ran Chicago with an iron fist, controlling the drug, prostitution and illicit gambling of the entire city, everything tightly managed and well run. For as ruthless as Francis was outside of the home, he indulged is daughter, hoping to keep her away from the brutal life style he led. Her interests in gymnastics and ballet were encouraged, private instructors hired and paid well to turn Helena into a perfect performer. Of course, even at the fancy private school she went too there were still whispers, rumors that she over heard, and by the time she was 13 she had figured out where her father was going to every night, what those meetings were about behind closed doors.

She was never truly affected by it however, until her father’s greed exceeded his grasp. He began to try and expand his enterprises, making headway into Keystone City before turning an eye towards Gotham.  The families of Gotham saw this encroach on their territory and were, to say the least, not pleased. They sent one of their top hitters, Mandragora, to express their displeasure. And so it was at the age of 14 she watched her parents brutally tortured and murdered for 3 hours, while she hid in a closet. A surviving, overly loyal bodyguard, managed to drive off the attacker as he was searching for the young girl. Per instructions left for this event, she was taken to a maternal cousin with a drop bag of cash and an envelope of instructions and passwords for when she became 18. For weeks she refused to talk, barely eating or drinking anything. It took a lot of time, patience, and love from a stranger who didn’t have to care any more for her then the money would last but did, but she finally came out of the shell she was curled up in after a few years. While she would never be normal, she learned to at least have some fun with life.

Her new caregiver was a teacher at the school she attended, and soon she decided to follow on the career path, doing her best to sink herself into the work load, to convince herself she could have a normal life. Relaxing for a few minutes in the student quad, she was looking at a few news sites when she saw him. The massive man who had taken her life from her in a bloodbath. She had walked out of the room as if it were filling up with toxic gas, and the first frat boy asshole who said a word to her that day ended up at the emergency room with a broken nose. The nerve of the man, to appear in public like some polite member of society, to be photographed was galling to her. He should be a boogie man, an invisible killer who never showed his face once more.

It was then and there she decided she was going to hunt the bastard down and make him pay. Not only him, but she would find out who ordered her family’s execution and make them pay, along with any who supported them. Knowing it would take time, training, and most of her money she threw herself into these things, becoming closed off from the world once more. Friends became an extraneous luxury, parties, movies a thing of the past. At the same time, she continued her studies to honor her caretaker as well as finding, much to her surprise after her initial rage cooled some, that she genuinely enjoyed the work itself.

She worked for years after school at local gyms, martial arts academies, and archery clubs, realizing she would need something to combat the guns that would be brought against her. After several years, she finally graduated college and graduate school and began teaching. She found a substitute position at Hill Elementary for a bit, using the time she spent there as practice almost. She went after small time crooks and thugs, piecing together what little information she could gather from them. Her confidence growing, she gained a position at Lieberman high and also deemed herself ready to begin her war with full vengeance.

The nerve of the man, to appear in public like some polite member of society, to be photographed was galling to her. He should be a boogie man, an invisible killer who never showed his face once more.

It was then and there she decided she was going to hunt the bastard down and make him pay. Not only him, but she would find out who ordered her family’s execution and make them pay, along with any who supported them. Knowing it would take time, training, and most of her money she threw herself into these things, becoming closed off from the world once more. Friends became an extraneous luxury, parties, movies a thing of the past. At the same time, she continued her studies to honor her caretaker as well as finding, much to her surprise after her initial rage cooled some, that she genuinely enjoyed the work itself.

She worked for years after school at local gyms, martial arts academies, and archery clubs, realizing she would need something to combat the guns that would be brought against her. After several years, she finally graduated college and graduate school and began teaching. She found a substitute position at Hill Elementary for a bit, using the time she spent there as practice almost. She went after small time crooks and thugs, piecing together what little information she could gather from them. Her confidence growing, she gained a position at Lieberman high and also deemed herself ready to begin her war with full vengeance.

The first time that she laid hands on a gun was when her boss took her out back into the alley to show her how to use it, suggesting that she get one of her own for self defense. Gemma wasn't sure if he was genuinely concerned or just wanted to feel her up while placing her into the correct stance, but she'd thank him for it later when it came in handy.

On a night that seemed like any other,  Gemma was just chatting with one of her favorite regulars while serving him drinks when this shady broad-shouldered man in a dark coat with the collar pulled up high to cover most of his face hurriedly walked up to them. The guy that Gemma was talking to had his back turned, but she was facing the mysterious man and caught a quick glimpse of steel when he reached into his coat pocket. With hardly a moment's hesitation, she snatched the small pistol from her purse which was right behind her on a shelf and put four bullets into the assassin's chest. She popped her customer's eardrum and narrowly missed his face by less than an inch, but he was happy to be alive.

So were the Falcones, since apparently the man that Gemma had saved was valuable to them for some reason or another. They approached her with a very lucrative...promotion shortly thereafter, setting her down a path of increasingly serious crime. She wasn't a naive or innocent victim being roped in, either. Even in the beginning when nothing was overtly stated, Gemma knew what she was getting into; she knew that it was illegal and wrong. The thing was that she didn't really care. She got off on the thrill, she loved the elevated lifestyle that the money granted her, and most of all her ambition kept her extremely motivated to climb the ladder.

Nine years later, she'd done pretty well for herself, serving as personal assistant and bodyguard to Carmine Falcone himself, the crime syndicate's much feared and revered leader.

She has a few scars on her body from her days as a beat cop and a few from her latest trade as the Black Canary of Gotham.

== Persona == Dinah keeps up appearances as a free spirited trouble maker still suffering from her parents divorce. She in-fact couldn’t be more focussed since returning to Gotham and becoming the Canary. She still hasn’t fully delt with her drink problem which got her kicked off the force to start with, but since been a vigilante she has little time for booze. The irony her *day* job is working in a bar is not lost on her. She keeps secrets from her family who still don’t know she was captured and tortured by pirates when she went off backpacking at 23. Nor the fact she was trained by one of Ras Al ghuls daughters. Dinah took all she learned from the force and Nyssa and combined it to create her Canary persona. She dongs a platum blond wig when she is the Canary to throw her enemies off. She prefers to go after misogynistic criminals who prey on women.         

== Key Skills == 1) Advanced Hand to hand: Dinah is shown to be skilled in hand to hand combat. First trained as a cadet at GCPD and then later in Wing-Chun by Nyssa Al Ghul.
2) Trained Stick fighter: Dinah carries two batons which can click together into a full length staff which she wields with mastery.
3) Trained acrobat/Stealth: Dinah is able to scale large buildings and leap great distances. She is also able to get around without been seen or causing too much commotion.

She figures now she has focus in her life as the Black Canary she won’t need to deal with it. Dinah can be arrogant and pig headed when she wants to be and wont let things go. At times she can be a bad judge of character especially when it comes to men which leads her into trouble. If her foes ever found out about her identity they would go after both her farther and her mother. She has an estranged relationship with her mother. Dinah does not work well with others or in a team which played a part in her police dismissal.   

== Background == Dinah grew up as a only child to Dinah Drake and Quentin Lance. Her farther was a GCPD Cop to the core her mother worked in a museum. Her parents divorced when she was 17 and her mom moved to coast city to be with her lover. Dinah decided at 18 to be a cop like her dad much to his dismay. She joined the force and lasted all of 18 months. Dinah was kicked out for substance abuse at the ripe old age of 23. She bummed around for a year before she went backpacking across the globe. Dinah ended up getting involved in a nasty situation with some pirates while in China and was saved by the League of Assassins. She was trained personally by the daughter of Ras Al Ghul but left the league once she spurned the advances’ of Nyssa. Dinah returned to Gotham and made peace with her dad.
