okay, so im in week 6 of intro to programming and the lab has me just a tiny bit confused. we are supposed to do a flowchart in Visio and yet when i access the files it looks like complete and utter gibberish. usually for flowcharts, they go into Raptor. any ideas people?

You may want to ask your instructor or TA? Without even knowing what type of file you were given it's hard to make a conclusion.

Are they files designed to be imported into Raptop that the instructor has asked you to open in visio?

I use Visio files all the time and the end in VSD  (2010) / VSDX (2013)

While visio can handle the diagrams required for OOP, it doesn't have the built in translation/verification routines from memory - its the same as if your drawing on paper.  It accepts whatever you enter, rather than an IDE such as Raptor
