Lucretia Durant is a vampire as old as time itself. A pure blooded one, she was born thousands of years ago and has seen the world change greatly over the centuries. But unlike her other cohorts, who see humans as a race/specie weaker than them and nothing more than fodder, for Lucretia they’re so much more than that. Intrigued and enamored by them in equal measures, over the years Lucretia has taken an array of human lovers on the side.

But when they would get old and die, leaving her heartbroken, empty she decided to take a crucial step long time ago of actually converting them by performing a blood transfusion. The results were remarkable and her lovers stopped aging. Yet, after few centuries after promises of eternity she has found them suddenly being struck by the old age and with that, insanity, always prompting her to kill them off to give them a way out of misery of incapacitation and insanity. An act that has left her crushed on an emotional front each time for her love and affection is something that isn’t understood and the promise of eternity not turning out what it was being perceived as a lie by her.

This in turn has led her to constantly grooming a new lover on the side along with her old one. As she begins to see minor signs of decay in her current lover, Hans Durant who has been with her for last couple of centuries, Lucretia has already begun to groom a new one on the side. This, in turn has caused a discord with Hans as he begins to suspect there’s more to things than it seems.

Lucretia owns an exclusive nightclub called La Voile Noir in Paris which I imagine to be primary setting, but it can easily be set anywhere else like the US, Malta, Greece….pretty open ground.

This is the primary setup and it can go any which way we want from here. But in any case, Lucretia’s affection for humans is seen as an anomaly and an undesirable trait to the point of almost being a betrayal of her own kind. However, beyond all of these concepts, which can be tweaked any which way there will be a strong emphasis on gradual, sensual seduction of the young man/woman by Lucretia as she puts them under her spell.

One strong element I would like to explore with this is the practical considerations that come with being a vampire in an age of mass surveillance, social media and law enforcement snooping about everywhere and the challenges that it presents.

The goal is to create an homage to vampires films like Nosferatu, Daughters of Darkness, Vampyros Lesbos with an emphasis on atmosphere, strong characters and doses of erotica filtered through sleek postmodern chic and of course, pushing the artsy, tortured immortal cliché to the max with Lucretia.

Some traits of vampires for this IMO are:
1. Vampires don’t immediately burn away in sunlight. It does make them weak but they can walk around if need be. However, extended exposure can have bad effects and staying out for days at end is a way to die.
2. Vampires are not averse to holy signs, garlic or holy water.
3. They have a feeding cycle which they must follow and that includes feeding on blood every month. Human blood has more potent effects than animals. The more virile, youthful the human, better are the results.
4. A genetic homo superior, vampires are taller and in general weigh more, are far stronger than humans.
5. Vampires generally prefer cooler settings/weather.
6. Cross species conception is not possible.
