Paradise - Interest check

I haven’t thought out a pretty plot yet, but the basics are simple. Seen the movie beach? Well it is just like that. Only, the island is known as a haven for the open and the adventurous.

A secret island known only to a few and home to more, a beautiful paradise hidden away in the KOH islands of Thailand. It is an adult only beach resort, for people who do not like beach resorts. Of course they have to work to keep their little “paradise” perfect. There is cooking, construction, medical and all sorts of needs.
The small resort is known for being an open family, and anything goes. Swapping of partners and sex in front of others. It is a place for no rules, save their own. That everything is to be kept a secret.

So basically, this role play is set on a secluded island in Thailand, somewhere around the Koh islands. It is a small community of sexually adventurous people, and people wishing to live away from the manic pace of society. Everyone needs to have a skill they can lend to the community (construction, fisherman, cook etc) If you don’t then you’ll be a farmer (picking the fruits and crops they plant themselves). My character will be the medical aid. It will be similar to a nudist colony and sex will happen everywhere. I will set more rules when I make the OOC. But for now, let’s just see how many interested parties I get.

Never seen the movie, but i'm loving the idea more and more every second =3 so you can count the head chief in for some dirty rumps on the beach and in the kitchen!

Is this intended to be a community of people who live there year-round, or are there guests who come in for short periods of time like on a time-share?

There will be a wide range of options.

1) Permanent residents. Those who run the place, so to say.

2) Regulars. Those who return, maybe like an annual trip.

3) Newbies. New visitors to the island.

There will be like a three month policy, hence the need for a trade.

I would be interested in playing, but I haven't played a group game on E before.

If that isn't an obstacle, I'd like to throw my hat in as a potential permanent resident, an electrician and handy(wo)man who can do small engine and appliance repairs.

There will be minimal to no electricity on the island, it'd mostly be solar or wind powered or batterie operated. But yeah, welcome aboard.

Solar and wind powered technology still turns the energy into electricity delivered through wires.  Only how the electricity is produced changes -- unless you're planning on not having modern appliances and conveniences. 

If that's the case, I'll possibly come up with another type of character.

No TV's, no air-con/heating, no straightners, no phones, no internet etc. Electricity is very minimal, used only for sanitation and plumbing, cooking etc.

I will bow out then, as my modern setting characters tend to be attached to their modern conveniences (much like their player).

I'll take the role that Briar Rose is dropping - the general handyman. The character has an electrical engineering degree, but got fed up with modern life, and ran away to Paradise to get away from the Wired World. He's moderately competent at general handiwork - construction, repair, plumbing, and so on.

Hmm, I would like to bring an escape artist to the Island that came here to supply entertainment to a more intimate crowd and does more adult oriented shows. Would that be a fit?

You can certainly play someone who performed before they arrived at the island, and occasionally likes to perform for people, if that is your characters back story.

my reasoning is id like to be a perm resident but I came from the states after being chased by the authorities for gun smugling or something along the lines.  Anywhich way I could lead the protection of our home.  Thoughts?

Sounds interesting and fun. This is my first time doing a group based roleplay so go easy on me.

I'll fill  in the role of construction, handyman and general muscle. Unless there is a role missing that needs to be filled.

Unless the M/F ratio is too one-sided already, I'd like to join in as maybe a fish-out-of-water character who either washes up on shore or happens to discover the island on a fishing trip (and needs a guiding hand to make him feel welcome and willing to keep their secret) or a new visitor arriving normally.  As for occupation that depends on what's needed:  A hunter, fisherman/sailing expert, or maybe a biologist/geologist and explorer who finds the island absolute heaven for reasons besides the beautiful women and free love.
