Steam Issue

I've been playing Dragon Age on my boyfriend's Steam account.  I beat it, and want to play Awakening, which we know he has.  He's played it.

I clicked on the icon for it, and some message popped up with a serial code.  I didn't really read it, just clicked okay.  Now we can't get Awakening to load.  If we click new game it starts Origins.  It's not in the other campaigns thing with everything else either.

I followed the directions and verified the file.  Now, when I click on the icon I get a message that says failed to contact key server.....
