So I got my hands on the pdf files and I've been doing reading. I'm keen on making a force user, but are Jedi's the only class in existence to use the force? I remember in the Legacy comics there were knights that were not aligned to the Jedi Order and served as imperial knights. Are they available?

Any character can use the Force.

If you're not a Jedi, just take Force Sensitive feat at first level and make it one of your trained skills.

Then, at later levels, take the feat Force Training to gain uses of major force powers.  : )

Can you upgrade a shadowsuit (which gives you +5 to stealth) with shadowskin (to give you ANOTHER +5 or +10 depending on the version) or is that just like... redundant? xD
O/O: I was going to make a barebones F-list as a rough summary, but then it logged me out and I lost my progress, so I made a VERY barebones F-list instead: Here.

AndyZ

Shadowsuit is an equipment bonus.  Shadowskin is also an equipment bonus.

Bonuses of a particular type don't stack ^_^

Ah! Good point! Thanks, for some reason that particular rule slipped my mind.

... sidenote, I just noticed that two different source books appear to have two different versions of the Shadowsuit.

Scum and Villainy and The Clone Wars both list Shadowsuits, but each version has different stats.

I can't find it in Galaxy of War.  Page number?

Me? I didn't say Galaxy of War xD I said Scum and Villainy and Clone Wars.

Scum and Villainy Page 49, Clone Wars Page 64.

Mea culpa >.>

My Clone Wars PDF has errata listed.  Go with Scum and Villany's version unless Idej overrides.

So I'm caught between two pics for my character, and would like to get some input. What do you think?
Pic1
Pic2

Either way, she is an escaped slave who has earned a reputation as an information specialist, spy, infiltrator, or perhaps even assassin. As for her build, I see her as having little in the way of actual combat powers. She knows one end of a blaster from the other, and knows the basics of self-defense, but that is it.

Her specialties lie in her ability to deceive, infiltrate, and seduce.

OR

She is an escaped slave that is a mercenary for hire. In this build, she would have some abilities to infiltrate, but rather than seduce, she prefers to shoot people in the face with her blaster.

I'm also open to other ideas.

AndyZ

Wigglebiscuit, have you played Star Wars SAGA before?

You have a fun concept, but I'm a little concerned about how it would be fitted into the ruleset.

My character's primary focus is as an assassin.

Combat wise, the current build I've got working up for her has her being sort of versatile, but leaning more towards ranged combat. Essentially, she's a sniper who can handle herself in melee combat, is fairly good at avoiding damage, but is pretty crap at actually taking a punch if she DOES get hit. From the way she's shaping up, her best position in battle is camping outside of the enemy's range and picking them off with her rifle.

Her main contributions to the team outside of battle would be stealth and tracking. She's good at getting to where she needs to be, and getting there unseen, and is quite capable of pursuing a target regardless of what kind of terrain the trail leads through.

She's also not terribly charismatic, though. Hey, with all the money that no doubt went into making a human replica droid with assassination protocols, they just didn't have anything leftover to give her a charming personality with.

As for those pics, wigglebiscuit... I think I like pic 1 more overall, but pic 2 has freckles. Hnnnnng freckles.

Yeah that's sorta how it goes for me. I have concepts. They never fit into rules. Which is why I don't like them.

The concept could certainly work pretty well (probably as Scoundrel), but you'd end up being at least reasonably decent at combat.  You can still have your specialties in the various skills to be good at infiltrating, seduction and so on, though.

There's a lot of similarities to D&D for this system, so everyone is good at combat at least to some degree.

Unless you're going to be allowed to freeform a char...

Imperial Knights are a prestige class... so before you reach that level, you start with a level of Soldier (to get the armor proficiencies) and then Jedi after that.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I probably shouldn't have posted interest, considering my inability to grasp complex rules systems. I'll just take a bow and let you guys have at it.

Maybe I'll post up on the one on one thread for a GM/solo RP for my little Twi'lek.

I honestly think Andy's overstating the idea that you're concept doesn't fit.

Yes you'll be a better fighter thant he average moisture farmer, but by focusing the build on skills, she'll be an amazing infiltrator and not so much of a fighter at all.

If you'd like to apply, I can do a build for you and see if you like it, and otherwise help you wiht the rules.  :)

Yeah, as noted, you can be good at all the things you want to be good at - it's just that the game makes sure you'll be at least vaguely combat-competent as well because it's no fun cowering behind a crate for an OOC week while everyone else is kung-fu fightan. Just think of it as a genre bonus - action-oriented sci-fi means protagonists are never totally helpless, even if they prefer the supporting role.

So as a soldier, could I take a weapon proficiency in Lightsaber? I'm just now getting an understanding of this system so bare with me please.

Hmmm... if you put an ion charger on an electrostaff, does it add +2d6 ion damage total, or +2d6/2d6?

You wouldn't need to in this case.   When you get to level 2 ( and take Jedi level 1) you get one of the Jedi starting feats for free, which can be Weapon Proficiency Lightsaber.

At level 1, take Force Sensitivity, which makes Use the Force a class skill, and take that as one of your skill choices.  That will cover all the prerequisites for being an Imperial Knight.

Edit: Will the Destiny/Legacy options be available?

Actually, forget my last question (unless anyone else wants it answered), I forgot that weapons like that follow the same rules as dual wielding if you attack with both, so I'll probably switch for a single handed melee weapon instead.

Tackyhillbilly

So people, got three ideas. One is your standard issue Mandalorian. Big, bulky, with the theory that more Dakka is an answer to everything. Another would be a Jedi, aiming for the Jedi Shadow Talent Tree off the Jedi Knight PRC. Lots of pragmatism, not much mystical force stuff. Last would be a Saboteur as per the Force Unleashed Book. Tricky deceptive fellow, with a talent for making things go boom. Would any of those be stepping on someones toes, or sound interesting?
