When men and women die, their fate is to rise to heaven or be cast down into hell.  Yet some, dissatisfied with the absolute 'perfection' of heaven or seeking to escape the torments of hell, find a another option awaits them.  Once a piece of hell itself, those who alight upon it find only a jagged, broken, barren landscape.  The third option.  Existing only slightly detached from the abyss it was drawn from, it's only offerings are hardship and toil, but also freedom from the puritan law of heaven above and reprieve from the horrors of hell below.

Ripped away from its diabolic origins, it now exists as a refuge for those souls who arrive intact.  Those who come here, have immortality: they do not age, cannot starve nor die of thirst, and neither disease, nor poison, nor violence can kill them.  Yet they can feel the passage of time and are subject to the pangs of hunger and the torment of thirst, to say nothing of the agonies of the violence, poison, and disease.

And so they called it Purgatory.

On an almost daily basis, new souls fall from the sky like comets and occasionally caught up by the barren land.  Those who don't burn up in the atmosphere to fall on the ground as raw crystalline soul-stuff, rise up in human form once again, given a new lease on life.  For the lucky few who are not driven insane by this new existence and join the ranks of Purgatory's feral damned, they eventually find their way to The Haven...

Hello all and thanks for looking!  For now, this is just to test the waters and see if this idea has any popularity, so without further ado..

WHAT TYPE OF GAME IS THIS?

Generally a sandbox game, heavy of the social interaction element, with a theme of warriors and slaves.  There will be plot in the background, but will only come into effect if the game has at least a few invested players (i.e. after player dropout).  This isn't really about player vs. player, though (friendly; i.e. agreed between players) rivalries would certainly contribute to the feel of the setting.

WHAT IS THIS ABOUT? (NSFW)

The blurb above should have generally outlined the idea.  The story in general follows a small fortified town called Haven, the one place in Purgatory that has managed to form some semblance of community.  The Haven is ruled over by group of a Warlord who enforces a rigid caste system between Warriors (who put their lives on the line to keep the place safe) and  Slaves (who tend to workings of the Haven and, more importantly, the needs of Warrior caste).  Every day life in Purgatory is a constant struggle against oppression and despair - their physiological needs are suspended, yet the psychological necessity of those physical needs is still very much there; whilst no one can starve or die of thirst, they still feel the need for it, and Purgatory does not provide for very much beyond rock, soil, and, very rarely, metal deposits.  Livestock and crops have never existed here.

To distract themselves, social prestige and carnal gratification quickly become the chief ways of life, and serves to blunt the ever present hunger and thirst.  The Warrior caste defend Haven from those that would threaten this fragile veneer of civilisation - the hordes of damned, broken souls and demons that occasionally creep up from hell that lies, literally, just below them, who come seeking to drag any they can back down into the pit.  Because of this, the warrior caste is entitled to their rewards.

The slave caste, despite their seemingly insignificant role other than to serve the warrior caste with their bodies and talents, nevertheless significantly influences which warriors rise to in status and those who sink into common ranks.  Skilled slaves gain considerably more leeway and freedoms than those of lesser status, gaining the right to choose who they bed, demand compensation for their time, confer more prestige to the warrior that owns them - the most prestigious of slaves are, in general, slaves in name only.  Slaves, in addition, due to the time they have on their hands also have a much higher tendency to unlock mystical abilities, either through deep contemplation on the nature of metaphysical reality or perhaps through madness induced by an almost constant state of hunger and starvation - such seers and witches are highly valued.

WHAT IS THE WORLD LIKE?

Purgatory is a continental-sized ring of almost barren landscape that floats above the crimson, malevolent haze of hell below.  Numerous monstrosities lurk that are hunted for hide and bone, and rarely meat, whilst prospectors search for precious deposits of metal.  One of the most notable, and feared places in purgatory is the Dreadwood - the only place where lumber can be found, whilst silk can be had harvested from the worms that inhabit it and generally give the place its name.  At the centre of the ring, in its hollow, floats a miniature city built in classical Greek or Roman style, all of which sits in the shadow of a great white pyramid at its centre.  It is largely believed that whoever or whatever created Purgatory resides here, but no one has ever been able to get across the vast gulf between the continental ring and the city within.

In general, this is world of stone walls, iron swords, copper javelins, hide tents, leather harness, sheer silk, and mounds of fur for beds.

System or Freeform?
The game is in Freeform with character sheets serving as rough guide to a character's ability.

Who is it open to?
All players, sexualities, and genders.  In theory, any character idea is welcome, though I'll only ask that they be built according to the themes mentioned above and that the Ons & Offs of other players are respected.  Likewise, male slaves and female warriors are every bit as welcome as the traditional male warriors and female slaves that this type of setting seems to imply.

Non-human characters?
I'm going to say that this would be human characters, since the majority of interaction would be based inside Haven, though I am considering the possibility of transformation/corruption of characters.  For those so interested in monster on human sex, that's also a possibility, but probably outside the walls of Haven (and if there are players interested in playing the monsters.)

If anyone has suggestions or ideas, I'm more than happy to hear them at this point since this is all just concept work for now.  Also, if anybody is interested in helping build and help run a game like this, that would be most welcome too.  If you have an interest, give us a rough idea of the kind of character you'd like to play, which should give everyone a demographic of possible characters they are likely to encounter.  Thanks for your time.

Everyone else can start using the below sheet for character design and post their concepts here for approval.  Reasonable, well-rounded characters are more likely to be accepted, though Mary/Gary-stus won't  :P

CHARACTER SHEET

NAME/ALIAS (insert you character's name or a nickname s/he is known by)
Apparent Age: Since time doesn't affect people normally in Purgatory, tell us how old they appear to be (in years)
Height: In feet; Weight: In pounds
Eyes: Anything about your character's eyes; Hair: Anything about your character's hair
Gender: Are you male, female, other?
Orientation: Sexual orientation (Hetero, Gay/Lesbian, Bi, etc...)
Kinks: Your O/O page is self explanatory, so place here the Ons you really, really want to experience in the game.
Limits: The stuff you absolutely don't want to happen to your character goes here.

CHARACTER INFO
Caste: Are you of the Warrior or Slave caste? Or are you an outsider not integrated yet? (having arrived only within the last month)
Time in Haven: How long have you been in Haven? (I recommend anything from 1-50 years, though not in excess of 400 years)
History: A little bit about who your character was before they came to Purgatory and what has happened since.
Personality: Self explanatory.
Ambitions/Goals: What your character wants to accomplish whilst they live in Haven.  It can be as complex or simple as you like.


EXPERTISE
List the areas of expertise your character may have.  These are generally things for which your character has/will garner a degree of fame (because it is useful to the community in general) if people even so much as know about it.  Try to get at least two, but no more than four.  Examples include, but are not limited to: being a skilled fighter, the ability to smith metals, good at oral sex, skill at leading expeditions, working knowledge of tantric sex, etc...

TRAITS
List the special little things your character can do.  These are generally advantageous to you in small ways, but they're things that are minor and don't garner you reputation even if people know you're capable of it.  You get 1 'free' trait, but every other trait you want to add requires commensurate a drawback (listed in the Drawbacks section).  Examples include: good eyesight, fast reflexes, a head for numbers, having a feeling when something is 'wrong', etc...

DRAWBACKS
List any flaws your character may have here.  They should, generally, not be things that are crippling to your character.  Examples include: poor eyesight, laziness, bad with alcohol,

Apparent Age: Early 30s

Eyes: Brown (turns opaque when performing divinations); Hair: Dark

Appearance: Phineas is a well-built individual of above average height.  His rugged features are framed by the dark waves of his hair and accentuated by a dark, piercing gaze.  He has a strange brand on the left side of his chest that doesn't belong to any warlord in Haven, and he hasn't thus far volunteered information about it.  He is usually dressed in a coarse hemp robe and often has the hood up, though he does not affect to wear anything else beneath it.

Caste: Slave (Copper-bound)
Time in Haven: 7 years
History: When Phineas first came to Haven, he was dragging himself by his hands because his legs had been mauled.  Once his injuries healed, the was examined and tested by the council of Warlords, who found him wanting when it came to the conduct himself as a warrior and was given the option of being a slave.  Though furious, when told his other option was to head back out into the waste, he grudgingly decided to take the chance at shelter.  Because slavery in Haven was not strictly as slavery during the time on earth that he knew it, he mellowed out after a year or so, realising there were benefits to be had, even if he did have to occasionally put up with the occasional cocky warrior.  On his 5th year of servitude, after nearly two years of particularly bad nightmare, lack of sleep had made his temper poor, and when it erupted over the theft of one of his precious tokens from one of his benefactor, the fires of the nearby braziers roared up with it.  Since then, Phineas has been practicing tirelessly to try and master this unpredictable power, which he sees as his ticket out of The Commons and into the high living of the Kingsreach.
Personality: Phineas is generally a stoic individual (more so since he awoke mystical abilities), though he occasionally has abrasive moments when he evinces a sarcastic wit.  Despite this, he is not known to be a troublemaker, and goes about any assigned tasks promptly and efficiently.  He is described as a silent but intense individual in the bedchamber, though he often puts on theatrics when he gets to indulge in orgies of public sex, possibly because he enjoys the praise and cheers that he doesn't get anywhere else.  Whilst he occasionally shows a lazy streak, whenever he is motivated, he proves relentless in his efforts to accomplish the task that so encouraged him.
Ambitions/Goals: Despite having very close friends in The Commons, the general impoverishment of the area is starting to wear on him, and gets more desperate by the day to find an opportunity that will give him a life in the Kingsreach.  He often volunteers to go with expeditions into the waste and lend his sorcerous talents to making sure they succeed (or at least do better than they otherwise would have without him) in the hopes that one of the warlords will notice his talents and offer him the chance at a better life.


EXPERTISE
Fire Magic: Phineas has some ability to control fire to the extent that it can be used in a battle.

Seer: Phineas is occasionally able to catch glimpses of the future, or things that are occurring far away.  He usually has to be drugged up or work himself into a frenzied trance before he can start to see patterns and visions in a flame.

Double Orgasms: Even after climaxing once, Phineas won't lose his erection and can keep engaging in sexual activity until having a second climax.

TRAITS
Good Observational Skills: Phineas is often able to notice little details the average person would miss.

Brave: The numerous disturbing things Phineas has seen in his visions has inured him to fear and he won't panic easily when face by the horrific or disturbing.

DRAWBACKS
Insomnia: Occasionally has trouble sleeping because of disturbing visions, often of demons and cannibalistic feasts.

Appearance: Mohdigh, pronounced Morgan, is a small, lithe creature, almost serpentine in nature, with tight, toned muscle  coiling and giving way to immense strength, despite her small stature. Her eyes are fierce, and shining in sunlight, terrifyingly leonine, along with her flaming hair and her confident, uncompromising stance, she cuts a dramatic figure almost anywhere she goes. With a number of scars on her body and a usual coating of whatever she can find to mimic woad warpaint, this is one small female you wouldn't confuse for a slave.


CHARACTER INFO
Caste: Warrior

Time in Haven: 6 years

History: Mohdigh was brought up in the mists of time, where history and myth begin to blend together. Her clan is forgotten by history, records long unkept. She remembers little of her life before Haven, the madness of the wastes taking much of her memory to preserve her psyche, to those in the know, she appears old Gaelic, and Irish at that, though she seems not to remember her home.

She made an entrance from the beginning, turning up at the gates of Haven, bedraggled and draped in tattered leathers and furs, a broken shield hanging from an equally shattered arm and a splintered spear loosely gripped between slender fingers. Unconscious she was brought in for healing, and while her caste was being considered, she awoke and unarmed managed to make it to the gates before settling to talk and understand Haven. Since she has considered the town her life's blood and would defend it to the death.

Personality: Mohdigh seems quite dour and humourless at first, and will often react to humour with some hostility, however once gotten to know, and with some time she will demonstrate humour of her own, even if it's as dry as the deserts before the rains. Her loyalty is her bond and she will not waver from an oath made or a word given. She is, however, not exactly known for mercy and will take a slight against herself or a friend personally enough to draw a weapon.

Ambitions/Goals: Mohdigh seeks happiness above all, and though she hides it in her hedonistic lifestyle, she seeks a companion, for this world and the next, to bond with.


EXPERTISE

Modigh is an accomplished singer, with a voice as fine as spun silk and as rich as velvet.

Expertise 2: Untiring
Modigh never seems to tire and her stamina is immense, allowing this flame haired warrioress to battle longer and celebrate harder than average.

Mohdigh has potential for druidic talents, though she doesn't remember this and she never truly started to learn.

Mohdigh will stand by her people, for so long as she draws breath, so shall they.

Thought to be from her smouldering locks, Mohdigh has a berserker reflex that makes her a sight to behold on the battlefield, however she is unrefined and has picked up too many scars already this way... one day, her fury may well kill her.

I was interested in Bondsman or perhaps even Freeholder for my 'witchspawn' concept, but could adapt it, of course.

Appearance: Ariel is rare among Haven, and especially the slave caste. She is lithe, almost a bit too skinny, with pale white skin and long white hair that sometimes appears silver in certain lights. Her face is quite angular, with full red lips and long black lashes. She is hairless in all but her eyebrows and hair, and is endowed with large breasts that remain quite perky. Ariel always appears clean, as she is obsessed with bathing.

Caste: Slave - Leather Collar
Time in Haven: 2 Years
History: Her memory is vague of what life was like before Haven. She remembers only fragments, and the memories she does recall only brings sadness to her life. Still, late at night, when there is no chores to do, she thinks on the past. Images of traveling long dusty roads with a troupe of minstrels is often what she remembers. Was she a bard at one point in her life?

When she arrived in Haven two years ago, she was quickly stripped naked and presented before the warlords. Deemed to beautiful to ruin as a warrior, and lacking any martial skills, she was sent to the slave caste where she learned the finer details of Haven's more subdued life.

Personality: Ariel can seem quiet, and diminutive at first. Often seen averting her eyes to those are in a higher position than her. But anyone who has spent some real time with her will know she is incredibly intelligent, and genuinely cares about those she sees as friends. She also has been known to have a bit of a tongue on her, although it is usually muttered under her breath.

Ambitions/Goals: Ariel wishes to be a Gold bound slave. Being treated as a lowly leather bound slave is demeaning. Among that she seeks happiness where ever she can get it. Haven is not made for happiness so any chance she can have at experiencing it, she will take it.


EXPERTISE
Expertise 1: Runes
She is able to read runes and decipher (although limited) the future.

Expertise 2: Artistic
Can play the lute with the best of them, as well as recite poetry, sing and paint.

TRAITS
Trait 1: Athletic
Ariel's lean body lends itself to being quite athletic, although she has no training in combat.

Ariel is quite intelligent, and not ignorant or lacking knowledge like the other lowly slaves.

DRAWBACKS
Drawback 1: Too Quiet
Being a slave for over 2 years has made Ariel a bit passive and quiet, and so she rarely speaks her mind.

Drawback 2: Easily Manipulated
Ariel is quite intelligent, but not very wise. Because of this manipulation works really well on her.

(This also goes out to everyone)  Feel free to create any type of warrior with any rank less than warlord, and any type of slave with a bound rating less than gold.  If you want to create a warlord or a gold-bound slave, let me know so we can hammer out specific details - these two categories require a little bit more handling and restrictions.

As for Phineas, I actually hadn't thought of your fire mage when I created him funnily enough and so Phineas is exactly what I noted him to be: an example character.  If you want to go ahead and make the fire mage, go right ahead!

I can understand where you're coming from, though in reality, a slave doesn't really have anywhere to run, so the material is mostly an indication of status.  Instead of shackles, think of them as leather bracers, lol.

Male slaves are required to wear the shackles, though not collars (though they can if the want to), and the reverse is true for female slaves.

Don't worry too much if you can't find a nude picture as it isn't mandatory (probably to some people's chagrin  :D)

Appearance: Standing approximately 5 ft 10 and weighing 160 lbs, Savage has a lean and wiry body, covered in scars ranging from burns, blade wounds, and one from a lead sling bullet.  He has dark brown hair and coppery amber eyes; the kind of eyes that one can immediately notice as being sharp and ever-observant of his surroundings.  He is almost never seen without his bow and quiver of arrows.


CHARACTER INFO
Caste: Warrior (Freeholder)
Time in Haven: 2 Years
History: An explorer and warrior who frequently joined his kin in raiding and pillaging villages throughout the continent.  He revelled in the heat of battle and always sought out the strongest and toughest of enemies to fight.  Suffice to say, he was also one of those who delighted in helping himself to many of the female prisoners his group managed to capture.

The only thing Savage remembers about his life between his death and reaching Haven was the hunger that drove him insane.  He was already suffering from starvation even before he first arrived in Haven.  His gluttonous nature nearly turned him into a cannibal during his first month and it appeared as though he had already been reduced to becoming one of the Damned.  Unable to satisfy his ravenous hunger or burning thirst, he decided to satisfy other forms of desire, such as his desire for combat.

He was always one of the first in line to volunteer for expeditions, relishing the chance to hunt down monsters and feast upon their flesh (the rarity of meat became a disappointment for him).  His ability and skills to track and hunt large game during his previous life proved a boon to the expeditions he was on.

Personality: Savage has a massive ego and is easily angered whenever it's bruised.  He has a nasty temper and is prone to turn toward violence at the slightest provocation.  His pride and stubborn nature can lead to him making very reckless decisions at times. Trait 1: Good eyesight
Years of training with the bow has trained his sight to the point where he could see things from great distances.  He can also pick out small little details thanks to his practice in tracking people and wild game.

Trait 2: Excellent reflexes
His experience on the battlefield and his training in close-quarters combat has honed and sharpened his reflexes to the point where he could react to almost any attack.  Even the most well-trained fighters in Haven would have difficulty catching him off-guard.

Trait 3: Impressive stamina
Savage is able to endure long treks across difficult terrain with minimum rest.  He's also able to battle for long periods of time.

Trait 4: Agile and fast
Savage is easily within the top 20 when it comes to sprinting.  Maybe even the top 10.  His above average agility also helps with traversing difficult terrain faster than the average person.

Trait 5: Brave
This veteran of war will rarely if ever back down from a challenge.  He is not easily frightened or intimidated even when confronted by his worst fears.

Trait 6: Adept Bowyer
As long as he has the materials to work with, he's able to craft his own set of bow and arrows.  It's practically a requirement for him as an archer, though his skill is nowhere near the level of the expert craftsmen of Haven.  The arrows he makes are functional and well-made, but nothing special.

DRAWBACKS
Drawback 1: Gluttonous
In some ways, the ravenous hunger he feels in Purgatory is worse than the suffering he went through in Hell.  At least there he wasn't tempted into trying cannibalism or had the hope of monster meat dangled in front of him.

Drawback 2: Reckless
His pride and stubborn nature can lead to him making very reckless decisions at times.  This is especially true when faced with a challenge.  He relishes the chance of taking on a strong opponent whether it be human or beast.

Drawback 3: Bad reputation
In spite of never having practiced cannibalism, there are many rumours saying he has.  Everyone who knows him expects him to snap one day and join the Feral Damned.  There are also (baseless and unfounded) rumours about him secretly being one of the Warlords' personal assassin.

Drawback 4: Laziness
Generally likes to nap and daydream a lot whenever he's not fighting, on an expedition, or satisfying his carnal desires.  Has been caught more than once napping while on patrol.

Drawback 5: Short Temper
Has a massive ego and is easily angered whenever it's bruised.

Chiana grew up on the streets, her home nothing but a hidden shed behind the stone wall of an old house. Her and her brother grew up together for the most part. Always taking care of each other, and fighting to survive. They grew up learning to do what was needed to survive. Becoming one of the many that lived in the world of thieves and whores that no one saw. They became rather good at what they did, Chiana seemed right at home in the life they made. Stealing, coning, and faking their way into whatever it was they needed or wanted. Gathering contacts within all areas of life. After all, even those that seemed to be the best behaved usually had their dark little secrets. Chiana just happened to be one of them.

It wasn't till she was 18 that she and her brother got separated. A job gone bad, one of their partners turned them in to get off scott free. And while they were trying to get away Chiana was caught. Not wanting her brother to get caught, she yelled and told him to run while he could. But that he damn well better find her later on.

Chiana had faith in her brother and thought he'd come back for her soon. But as time passed and she was pasted around prison to prison Chiana lost the faith she once had. The cruelty of the prison system constantly trying to break her only caused her to harden that much more. She honestly thought it would never end, that was until she finally came and they chose to end her punishment and use her as an example and sentenced her to death.

By this point she had given up on her brother, had he been caught too? Had he been killed? Or had he simply given up on her, running away to never look back. Chiana didn't know the truth and she wasn't sure that she ever wanted to know. Besides at the moment that wasn't her problem. Now she had to worry about where she'd end up next. Oddly enough Heaven once pulled to her, but something held her back, something held her changed to purgatory. New to this strange world, trapped between heaven and hell Chiana finds herself facing a whole new set of problems.

Personality: Chiana is all about living life to the fullest. Despite her meager upbringings she found a way to enjoy anything and everything she wanted. Even if that meant she had to do some seed work to get it. Sex, drugs, stealing, manipulating, blackmailing, hell in her short life she has done it all. Cheeky and smart, she knows when to go with the flow and when to fight. Playful and flirty, not shy in the least. Chiana see's what she wants and normally gets it.

Beyond her fiery demeanor lies something much strong though, even if it has not fully come into being. Chiana is strong willed, and stands by her beliefs, which has lead to more than one beating in her life time. She holds onto a sense of who she is despite what happens in life, and always finds a way to survive.
Ambitions/Goals: AT the moment survive and find a place to thrive, in a way to find her brother though she knows if she does that he is dead. So part of her prays she will never see him.


EXPERTISE
thievery: Chiana isn't a stranger to the five finger discount. She is skilled in the art of pick pocketing, and B and E. She was actually quiet the skilled second story woman when she was alive. These skills will no doubt serve her in purgatory now.

acrobatics: Chiana is one agile girl, bend her every which way or watched her tumble, flip, sprint, and jump in any way she needs to get where she is going...or to get away.

dancing:Not the most used skill that belonged to Chiana, but it is something she find passion in. Her body moves with a sense of grace not many have. And one can easily see how free she becomes when giving into the dance.

Information: Knowledge is power and information is key, that is something Chiana has always known. One never knows when some small tid bit of information will come in handy. Not to mention black mail is a very lucrative business. So information has always been something Chiana strives to obtain, and something she became very good at. This hasn't changed in purgatory as a strange ability of being able to see into peoples minds is slowly manifesting. (note still low ability, something she can't control or really understand at the moment.)


TRAITS
Strong willed: Chiana has always been strong willed, you have to be to keep pushing forward no matter how bad things got. Once you gave in, once you broke everything was over. And Chiana was never ready for the fun to be over.

Reading people: Be they a mark, or just someone she wanted to play with Chiana has always been able to read people. Their tells, and those twitches that give away all the answers she needs. This skill has not only come in handy in her line of work, its saved her life a few times as well.

Manipulative: That look, a tone to the voice, a light touch, or a smooth line it all added up to the hypnotic way Chiana seemed to be able to bend people. With just herself and her words Chiana has been able to achieve a great deal without breaking a sweat.

DRAWBACKS
Drugs: Despite her brothers efforts Chiana gained a drug habit. That need to feel everything she could, or the need to go numb. There was always something to help with that, even if it wasn't the best thing for her.

Scared: Her back still has the evidence of prison guards whips. Their wrath and anger towards her was never held back, her back no has several strike marks across it. Clearly from some of the more intense punishments she received.

A Queen...she had once been a Queen, but she was a Queen that had been betrayed by her own people. They turned against her; unable to stand a woman leading them and king that was nothing more than a figurehead. Betrayed, dragged out before the court and murdered by the very people she had once strived to lead into a future she envisioned for them. Glory, wealth, love, power they were all stripped from her in an instant. Perhaps that is why she has hidden her true name and found herself stuck with in purgatory. Was it a stubborn refusal to move on or something much more that held her there? Honestly she did not know, but the woman that was once Queen would not let her soul tarnish, even when trapped between heaven and hell.

She took the name Inara, not wanting who she was known for many reasons. One of which was because the woman who was once queen found herself as a slave when entering purgatory. But being a slave did not mean she had to be down in the muck. Inara would never stand for remaining at the bottom, remaining nothing but the trash men used and threw away when they were done. No, she strived for so much more, and despite how hard it was she used her skills to make her way to the top tier for the slave ranks.

Her name is well known throughout purgatory, as are her skills. Inara is the best at what she does, and she is so much more than a simple concubine. Inara had risen to a rank not many were able to. And found that even as a slave, she could hold some sense of power. Now Inara spends her time as she pleases, choosing her lovers and the company she keeps. It is not the life she would have chosen, but even here it is a life she has created herself.

Personality: Inara may not look it, her beautiful face and well toned body. But don't let the those pretty eyes fool you, those that know her can tell you what a type of temptress lies beneath. Strong willed, confident, and quick witted all traits she has learned over her years of travel.  Her duel nature controlled and clearly used to her advantage. Though there are moments when you can tell she connects with the animal within. And she enjoys every moment of it.

She is known for unshakable nature, having to be an unmovable force of her own. A woman meant to be a trail blazer, finding her place within Purgatory, enjoying the world as it was her proverbial oyster.  She never really talks about her past, just tid bits here and there. She has strong will, a loyal heart, is stubborn as hell, and has a temper that can rival and shake anyone around her when truly provoked. She is heat, passion, exploration, strength, mysterious, seduction,  all in one untamed and amazingly curvy well-toned body.
Ambitions/Goals: To rise to the highest rang possible and stay there, to remain in some way a Queen or desired woman of high esteem and fortune. To live the life she is used too, to not feel so...alone.

Tasting of essences: With one small kiss Inara can read the truth of someone, it is used to know their deepest desire or secrets, to know what it is they want to hide form the world. And she uses that to her advantage every chance she gets

Reading emotions: A natural gift to read the emotion of a beings near her. One she uses and takes full advantage of.

The art of pleasure: Food, art, music, touch, and of course sex, there are so many ways to enjoy pleasure in the world. And Inara knows and has mastered many of them. When with her a person learns to enjoy all the pleasures that life has to offer.

Stamina: Call it being insatiable but Inara has the stamina to keep with any lover. Her body seems to have an endless supply of energy, and she recovers quickly enough from the shock of bliss or sometimes even pain. It is know that no lover leaves her bed unsatisfied.

Educated: Queens are always given the best education, she has to be able to stand tall by her husband after all. And in the life Inara once had she was the voice behind the crown, a brilliant mind able to keep up with any man.

Linguist: In her once living life Inara was a Queen and that meant dealing with people from all the different corner of the world. And that meant that she had to be able to communicate with them. Languages became another art to her and she still studies them to this day.

Calming: Inara has always been able to bring a sense of calm, even to the wildest of beasts. Call it a gift, in some ways its a way of survival. One had to learn how to deal with the harsher lovers of this world to remain alive and unharmed.

Knowing the body: Pressure points, a healers knowledge, anatomy, the human body is a fascinating thing, and Inara has taken it upon herself to learn everything she could about it.

DRAWBACKS
Materialistic: Living in the slums was never for her, Inara was a Queen once and despite her label of slave she strives to live and enjoy the life she had grown accustom to.

None combative: Inara has never been a fighter, beyond the art of using a bow she has not been own to face the lines of battle. After all a Queen has her knights to do that for her.

Fear of drowning: Due to the torturous way she died, Inara still has a fear of drowning.

Well, here's my initial idea for a character more on the upper end of things. If we don't get anyone else making characters more in that range of what's around in Haven, I might move away from it until that changes, depending on what everyone else thinks.

The kink bits probably have more apt ways to describe them, I'll happily take feedback on how to put them more succinctly. Also, what weight would be appropriate? I'd appreciate help, I have no clue about these things.

Valar
Apparent Age: Late Thirties/Early Fourties

His voice has a deep, rich quality but in combat all too often turns into a wild roar.

Along his powerful chest and stomach run many battle scars, both from blade and claw. How they have not healed and faded properly in Purgatory remains a mystery.

Time in Haven: 400 Years
History: Valar was born in Purgatory and grew up in Haven during its early days. His mother was an ambitious, power-hungry hag, mad and unpleasant to the eye, but powerful in sorcery. She was able to change her shape when she so wished, at some cost to herself, but liked to do so to seduce and then mock powerful men.

She was one of the founding members of Haven and proudly wore a golden collar, taking many warriors to her bed, sometimes to vex them with trickery, sometimes with promises of power and influence if they would but love her in her true shape. Shortly after its founding she conceived a child together with one of the original warlords, intent on securing herself greater standing yet. She cast many spells upon the child within her womb, to ensure that it would be strong, that it would be a true child of Purgatory, one that no man could match.

And her child, Valar, was indeed powerful, growing quickly and becoming stronger day by day, but his strength was still within the realm of mortals. He was not undefeatable as she had hoped. Still the hag thought to use him. Valar never knew his father's identity until the moment he killed him at the behest of his mother. Seeing her manipulations for what they were for the first time, he cast the hag down to hell -- making him thus the killer of both his parents. There were no witnesses. His actions against his mother were never examined too closely, as many had feared her and were glad to be rid of the dangerous sorceress.

Valar swore himself to service for Haven and became a Bondsman, proving himself again and again on the field of battle as well as duels against his fellow warriors, to which he was challenged all too often during his earlier years. Though delayed by his reputation and the subspicions harbored against him by many, his wild abandon in combat against any manner of foe, demon or worm, eventually earned him his own grant of land -- and with it, the rank of Freeholder.

Since then he kept acting as before, joining expedition after expedition and acquiring a number of slaves of his own. Over the centuries he has gained the qualifications to be warlord, but was never granted the rank, likely because of his questionable origins.

Personality: Valar likes Haven. Whatever spells his mother had cast to change him into her ideal tool may have influenced him, may have made the hunger that drives most mad more bearable for him, may have made him stronger -- but to what extent and what is naturally his, he can never know. He also carries a warlord's legacy, after all - he was conflicted about that for a long time, but has come to terms with it over the centuries. There are no answers to be had, he is what he is, spells or no spells. He enjoys the pleasures of the flesh, he relishes the fight and values his own freedom greatly. To that extent, he always seeks opportunities to increase his freedom to move as he pleases, going on many expeditions (though also for love of battle and challenge).

He is very confident, proud and gives the constant impression of  the calm before the storm. In control, calm, but like one wrong word or gesture might cause him to casually tear a throat out.  In reality, he only ever exerts his violent impulses in challenges or genuine combat, but there is an underlying unrestfulness to him if he doesn't regularly get the release of battle.

In regards to slaves, he gives his a very long leash. They can basically do as they like as long as his needs are met and they are available when he needs them to be. Though many expect him to be, he isn't particularly cruel to his slaves, but can come across as uncaring.

Ambitions/Goals: Valar ultimately seeks advancement, not just to warlord, but to ruler of Haven. He almost became a mere puppet to his mother, so he seeks to be beholden to no one, to stand above all.
A warrior-lover by his side who can match his ferocity.
To gather followers, enslave weaker warriors and expand his territory
To establish a line. He actively seeks any partners with whom he might 'breed true', with the offspring retaining his unnatural traits. So far to no success, all progeny over the years has turned out completely human.


EXPERTISE
Experienced Fighter: Having lived centuries of fighting, there are very few outside of other century-old veterans who can boast as much actual combat experience as he. While there may be those with better technique, discipline, weapon skill or tactics, he uses everything he has to its utmost.

Survivor: Blessed with a hardy physique and supernatural senses, survival comes easily to Valar. Having survived Purgatory and returned even on his own after a failed expedition or two in his past, he knows well how to guide others outside Haven's safe walls.

TRAITS
Witchbrood: Dark magics were infused into Valar even before he was born and more after, granting him the ability to see in the dark, very fine hearing and claws that can harm even demons. There may be other perks, but whether he had an easier time acquiring his physique than others might have or if his wounds would heal a little faster is ultimately irrelevant in Purgatory.

Champion's Physique: Valar is about at the peak of human strength, dexterity, toughness and endurance. While this was a disappointment to the witch who conceived him, it is still a result of dark magic and the combination of all these often does make him appear like a feral beast. (Think Marvel's Sabretooth minus the extreme healing factor. Or Captain America with claws.)

Strong Instincts: Both his experience and the instincts that come with his magical enhancements combine into great reflexes and something that can almost be described as a danger sense.

Magic Resistant: Magic that attempts to affect his mind or physique directly (curse/debuff and mind reading/control sort of spells) is difficult to cast on Valar. Attack spells or spells that affect him via external forces work perfectly fine.

Fearsome Reputation: His reputation has its advantages -- he has an easier time intimidating others into compliance, his skill is rarely questioned and his slaves are usually left alone.

DRAWBACKS
Pride: Valar does not take kindly to challenges to his pride and considers very few his peers. He rarely considers the possibility of losing to anyone, partially because he is buying into his own reputation, and may underestimate human foes.

Lack of Perspective: Valar was born in Purgatory and has no interest in or understanding of cultures other than the system established in Haven. He knows war, how to do battle against the dangers in Purgatory, how to cow men, slavery, carnal pleasure … and little else.

Bloodlust: Valar needs the release of battle and craves challenges. If he cannot satisfy that, he grows unrestful and becomes more easily agitated.  It's possible that this was caused by his mother, a redistribution of other urges more difficult to satisfy in Purgatory. All the better to turn him into a weapon.

Fearsome Reputation:Valar's reputation as practically a wild beast who is feral in battle, feasts on demons and generally intimidating appearance has its drawbacks. Many don't want or like to deal with him and new slaves often need convincing that he's not dangerous to them. The superstitious avoid him (Witchbrood, hagspawn, Rakshasah, 'that demon' and many other insults circulate) and despite his continued service and abandon in battle for Haven, he is one of the Freeholders most often suspected of being a traitor to demons or actually a demon himself.

Edit: Also, not sure if 'gender blind' is the best way to put it for how he approaches slaves. He doesn't care if it's man, woman or somewhere in-between when it comes to, uh, 'relief duty' so to speak, but he does appreciate beauty and femininity. If a male slave is too buff and masculine, he'd probably rebuke them for not being a warrior instead. But how to put that in a short manner ...

New to this strange world, trapped between heaven and hell Chiana finds herself facing a whole new set of problems.

Personality: Chiana is all about living life to the fullest. Despite her meager upbringings she found a way to enjoy anything and everything she wanted. Even if that meant she had to do some seed work to get it. Sex, drugs, stealing, manipulating, blackmailing, hell in her short life she has done it all. Cheeky and smart, she knows when to go with the flow and when to fight. Playful and flirty, not shy in the least. Chiana see's what she wants and normally gets it.

Beyond her fiery demeanor lies something much strong though, even if it has not fully come into being. Chiana is strong willed, and stands by her beliefs, which has lead to more than one beating in her life time. She holds onto a sense of who she is despite what happens in life, and always finds a way to survive.
Ambitions/Goals: AT the moment survive and find a place to thrive, in a way to find her brother though she knows if she does that he is dead. So part of her prays she will never see him.


EXPERTISE
thievery: Chiana isn't a stranger to the five finger discount. She is skilled in the art of pick pocketing, and B and E. She was actually quiet the skilled second story woman when she was alive. These skills will no doubt serve her in purgatory now.

acrobatics: Chiana is one agile girl, bend her every which way or watched her tumble, flip, sprint, and jump in any way she needs to get where she is going...or to get away.

dancing:Not the most used skill that belonged to Chiana, but it is something she find passion in. Her body moves with a sense of grace not many have. And one can easily see how free she becomes when giving into the dance.

Information: Knowledge is power and information is key, that is something Chiana has always known. One never knows when some small tid bit of information will come in handy. Not to mention black mail is a very lucrative business. So information has always been something Chiana strives to obtain, and something she became very good at. This hasn't changed in purgatory as a strange ability of being able to see into peoples minds is slowly manifesting. (note still low ability, something she can't control or really understand at the moment.)


TRAITS
Strong willed: Chiana has always been strong willed, you have to be to keep pushing forward no matter how bad things got. Once you gave in, once you broke everything was over. And Chiana was never ready for the fun to be over.

Reading people: Be they a mark, or just someone she wanted to play with Chiana has always been able to read people. Their tells, and those twitches that give away all the answers she needs. This skill has not only come in handy in her line of work, its saved her life a few times as well.

Manipulative: That look, a tone to the voice, a light touch, or a smooth line it all added up to the hypnotic way Chiana seemed to be able to bend people. With just herself and her words Chiana has been able to achieve a great deal without breaking a sweat.

DRAWBACKS
Drugs: Despite her brothers efforts Chiana gained a drug habit. That need to feel everything she could, or the need to go numb. There was always something to help with that, even if it wasn't the best thing for her.

Scared: Her back still has the evidence of prison guards whips. Their wrath and anger towards her was never held back, her back no has several strike marks across it. Clearly from some of the more intense punishments she received.

A Queen...she had once been a Queen, but she was a Queen that had been betrayed by her own people. They turned against her; unable to stand a woman leading them and king that was nothing more than a figurehead. Betrayed, dragged out before the court and murdered by the very people she had once strived to lead into a future she envisioned for them. Glory, wealth, love, power they were all stripped from her in an instant. Perhaps that is why she has hidden her true name and found herself stuck with in purgatory. Was it a stubborn refusal to move on or something much more that held her there? Honestly she did not know, but the woman that was once Queen would not let her soul tarnish, even when trapped between heaven and hell.

She took the name Inara, not wanting who she was known for many reasons. One of which was because the woman who was once queen found herself as a slave when entering purgatory. But being a slave did not mean she had to be down in the muck. Inara would never stand for remaining at the bottom, remaining nothing but the trash men used and threw away when they were done. No, she strived for so much more, and despite how hard it was she used her skills to make her way to the top tier for the slave ranks.

Her name is well known throughout purgatory, as are her skills. Inara is the best at what she does, and she is so much more than a simple concubine. Inara had risen to a rank not many were able to. And found that even as a slave, she could hold some sense of power. Now Inara spends her time as she pleases, choosing her lovers and the company she keeps. It is not the life she would have chosen, but even here it is a life she has created herself.

One of the reasons Inara is so well know is that fact that she does not have a patron. The great warrior that once held her leash no longer remains in purgatory. There are many rumors about his disappearance or death as one is believed to be immortal in purgatory. But in the end nothing true is really known. Inara still remains free of a true master, the goods and money she herself had earn from her master has sustained her to this point. Which is a blessing as she has not accepted any of the many offers of patronage she has received. Some wonder if she does not have her sights set on a much higher place, perhaps even the king’s side. But she has never spoken of such things, and seems to never have any intention to, at least not yet.

Personality: Inara may not look it, her beautiful face and well toned body. But don't let the those pretty eyes fool you, those that know her can tell you what a type of temptress lies beneath. Strong willed, confident, and quick witted all traits she has learned over her years of travel.  Her duel nature controlled and clearly used to her advantage. Though there are moments when you can tell she connects with the animal within. And she enjoys every moment of it.

She is known for unshakable nature, having to be an unmovable force of her own. A woman meant to be a trail blazer, finding her place within Purgatory, enjoying the world as it was her proverbial oyster.  She never really talks about her past, just tid bits here and there. She has strong will, a loyal heart, is stubborn as hell, and has a temper that can rival and shake anyone around her when truly provoked. She is heat, passion, exploration, strength, mysterious, seduction,  all in one untamed and amazingly curvy well-toned body.
Ambitions/Goals: To rise to the highest rang possible and stay there, to remain in some way a Queen or desired woman of high esteem and fortune. To live the life she is used too, to not feel so...alone.

Tasting of essences: With one small kiss Inara can read the truth of someone, it is used to know their deepest desire or secrets, to know what it is they want to hide form the world. And she uses that to her advantage every chance she gets

Reading emotions: A natural gift to read the emotion of a beings near her. One she uses and takes full advantage of.

The art of pleasure: Food, art, music, touch, and of course sex, there are so many ways to enjoy pleasure in the world. And Inara knows and has mastered many of them. When with her a person learns to enjoy all the pleasures that life has to offer.

Stamina: Call it being insatiable but Inara has the stamina to keep with any lover. Her body seems to have an endless supply of energy, and she recovers quickly enough from the shock of bliss or sometimes even pain. It is know that no lover leaves her bed unsatisfied.

TRAITS
Educated: Queens are always given the best education, she has to be able to stand tall by her husband after all. And in the life Inara once had she was the voice behind the crown, a brilliant mind able to keep up with any man.

Linguist: In her once living life Inara was a Queen and that meant dealing with people from all the different corner of the world. And that meant that she had to be able to communicate with them. Languages became another art to her and she still studies them to this day.

Calming: Inara has always been able to bring a sense of calm, even to the wildest of beasts. Call it a gift, in some ways its a way of survival. One had to learn how to deal with the harsher lovers of this world to remain alive and unharmed.

Knowing the body: Pressure points, a healers knowledge, anatomy, the human body is a fascinating thing, and Inara has taken it upon herself to learn everything she could about it.

DRAWBACKS
Materialistic: Living in the slums was never for her, Inara was a Queen once and despite her label of slave she strives to live and enjoy the life she had grown accustom to.

None combative: Inara has never been a fighter, beyond the art of using a bow she has not been own to face the lines of battle. After all a Queen has her knights to do that for her.

Fear of drowning: Due to the torturous way she died, Inara still has a fear of drowning.

History: The woman who would become Lady Death was born a mortal named Hope. Her father was a local nobleman named Matthias who was forcibly conscripting peasants into military service as feudal levies. Unknown to his innocent daughter, Matthias had a dark secret. Although congratulated by the Church for his work against the pagans, he was despised by the common folk as a cruel tyrant. Matthias was outwardly pious, but secretly dabbled in black magic and demonology.  Hope's mother, in contrast, was a woman so pure and innocent it was rumored that her bloodline reached Heaven. Hope's mother died when Hope was still in her late teens, and she was left to live with her father.
Eventually, Matthias' cruelty triggered a peasant uprising. Matthias narrowly escaped death at the hands of the rebels by summoning a demon, but Hope was captured by the rebels and accused of witchcraft, merely for attempting to heal a friend in a manner not 'normal' for the time. Faced with the prospect of execution by burning at the stake, Hope uttered an incantation that she had overheard her father use. This incantation summoned a demon who offered her a bargain – he would rescue her from death if she would renounce her humanity and serve the powers of Hell. Hope accepted the bargain and was transported into the infernal realms.
Gradually corrupted by the nature of her surrounding, Hope was tainted with evil.  Death became who she was, what she was, and she reveled in it. However, Hell seemed more about engorging oneself on all the 'sins', and not so much battle. Deep down, she knew Hell was not where she truly belonged. Soon she learned of Haven, and knew that there, she could rise. There, she could bathe in the blood of enemies.
There, she could maybe become Queen.
Personality: Lady Death wants nothing more then to fight. Any time, any where, she is the most 'alive' when in the midst of a pitched battle. She is cool and calculating, even haughty, but deservedly so.
Ambitions/Goals: Replace Warlord Valdis as King Amozran's second, then possibly become Queen.


EXPERTISE
Expertise 1: Combat: She is expertly skilled in all forms, but shines most with her sword in her hand.

Expertise 2: Sorcery: Having sorcery instilled within her starting when she was a human child, she expanded on this knowledge whenever it became available. She is now very formidable in this category, but prefers the thrill of spilling blood with her own hands.

Drawback 1: Hubris: Having clawed her way up the Ranks by tooth and nail, sword and magic, she tends to think she is undefeatable, and acts like it.

Drawback 2: When in battle, she can tend towards Berserker, and has been known to have those fighting with her meet their end by her own blade.

Still looking for new players? If so, what time periods are acceptable for a character's life? I'm interested in playing a character who was a slave in the Byzantine Empire, if possible - I'm very fond of that period of history.
