D&D "Sands of Mu"

  BASIC CONCEPT: So far the idea I'm throwing around in my head and in my notebook, is a low level(no higher than 3rd level) campaign, cnetered around the search for....something I have two or three ideas floating around(City of Gold, Chalice of youth, The Old Kindoms lost Treasure Vault,) The settign wil lbe mostly desert, with an Egyptian feel to it, complete with pyramids and tombs and the like. Picture "The Mummy, Indiana Jones, Tomb Raider, and National Treasure" all mixed up with some erotic spicyness thrown in.


CHARACTER CREATION: Character should be of 3rd level. You may use any official D&D 3.5(3.0 if the sourcebook hasn't been updated) books. Use the 4d6 dropping the lowest die for abilties. Max HP. 3,000 GP to spend on gear(including magic items) plus 1 special magic item. This item will be a family heirloom passed dwom form generation to generation. This item wil lbe unique, created by me. All you need to do is give me a rough idea of the type of item you'd like to have and some possable abilities you'd like it to have. A brief background should be included detailing your life as an adventurer up until now. I'm still working on the campaign details and wil lpost them aSAP, so that you may use them for your background.

Feel free to discuss things here or PM me. As I stated above, i'm still working out some of the details(location names, stuff like that). My goal is to have that info up by the end of the week, but with the other two major games I'm working on it might not be until Moday or Tuesday.

Also though it isn't 100% yet, I might have a Co-GM (Muse).

The Realm is called Kyan'Ker. The main human settlement is Keos, while the surface elves hail from Ahnkor Woods and Arsinoe. The Dwarves occupy Wahibre, with gnomes and halflings hailing from Rudimon and Titaru.  Dark Elves and other races hail from lands to the north or underground in some cases like the Drow. You do not have to hail from the specified palces those are just a breakdown of how the races are spread out in general. We wil lbe starting in the Human city of Theos...More to come as it comes to me.

I choose to play a human (boring but they are easy) taking any class that fits the dice as I roll them in order good or ill. 4d6 each drop the lowest die.

D'oh.  Well, I don't see why there couldn't be two arcane casters in a party of eight, especially since I doubt we'll have the same spell selection.

Though if Robguy vetoes that notion, I'll think of something else.

But makes a fine Cleric or Druid with good skill points or a good Wizard as stand alone options.  

Definately some sort of magic wielder in the cards though.

I'm fine with it, though there may or may not be 8 players. I was just throwing that out there in case I had like 12 people interested. It would then be a group of 8 and a group of 4. i'd say hang out for a day or two and see if all the main parry roles fill up and then decide.


@Ruby: Any of those classes would work fine, I think Cleric or Druid works best though since your dex isn't very high.

I will probably mix the Egypyian Pantheon in with one of the other panteons for God choices, so if your planning a man/woman of faith you'll have to hold on a day or two.

I was thinking a cleric hell they are so broken anyway. And by far the best single self-contained class in the game.

Why the Egyptain Pantheon? I think it would be simpler have just alignment based temples. A Temple of White (good clerics), Temple of Gray (neutral clerics) and Temple of Black (evil clerics- not condoned by the society but has evil minions out there).

The dieties if they exist could be worshipped but share support of each like mionded temple with the last one also supporting worship of evil Outsiders not gods. Come one no one runs old fashioned demon woshippers anymore in the game. lol

After all clerics don't HAVE to have a diety in the game they can follow an ethic or philopsohy or even a force like Fire. The Gray Temple might be well reagrded for masters of elemental magics.

So I just suggest keep it simple.

 I actually prefer smaller groups too. It's hard to keep everyone involved in the action, when there are too many people swing their swords at the evil Drow Priestess; and their chainmail bikini clad minions.

@Cherri: If you prefer you could just explain the type of characetr you want, then I could write up the character for you, and even handle al lof your rolls behind the scenes. That way you are still able to play with us  (   ;)  ). The only difference from freeform would be that you would have to wait for me to tell you how good/bad you did on an action before yuo posted it. *Wonders if that makes any sense* Aldo contrary to popular belief everything isn't decidded by dice. if you convince me through your words then why bother with a Diplomacy roll. Keep this in mind when you choose your skills. Many of them will not come into play very often(Diplomacy, intimidate, etc..though I wil ltake skill ranks into consideration when I repsond to the situation I will proabalby never ask for a roll). The only time rolling becomes important is during combat or situations where failure would be bad. (throwing the naked gnome bard across the chasm to distract the bad guys while you run away.)


  If anyone else prefers this method then I can accomadate you as well.  ;)

No, you can't.  Mindbender requires caster level 5, and sorcerers don't have the right class skills to get in before that anyway.

I can get the class skills through other means.  I don't recall a CL 5 requirement, but I don't have my book in front of me to confirm or deny that.

In any case, even not starting as it, it would be the direction the build would take.

As I usually find with system-intensive games... about 3 hours into the character creation process I get stuck, start spinning my wheels, and just really need to remind myself why I'm doing this...

So why am I doing this?

God, I hope someone wants to play this game, not just talk about it...

I mean, I really enjoyed the photography too.  But my "new replies" box is empty, and I really want to start interacting here... I got needs, y'know?  *lol*

So I've made 2 basic characters, not sure which campaign for each one.  So please let me know if we can start working out character background or anything.

Haven't sorted out which to use.
1) Danica.  Human Sorcerer.  Unschooled rebel of an aristocrat's daughter, now exiled from her war-torn country after her emissary family's downfall.  While weak and developing as far as mages are concerned, she has potential to become volatile later... she follows the way of Raven, and isn't afraid to use her charms... generally passionate, curious, and a little naive.

2) Quitxi.  Tiefling Rogue... future shadowdancer.  A stronger personality... CN in alignment, wilder and less refined, a wiry, youthful girl of a warrior with a short fuse and a strong desire to do right.  Fiercely loyal and emotional, she follows Anhur's path... bold in most respects, shy in others, she lacks the exotic beauty of others, but has her own youthful, well-formed attractions... though more tomboyish than most, and perhaps too wild for many.

Still got room in the parties for a feral reared barbarian? It's your typical barbarian with a few tricks up her sleeve or lack there of from how she was raised.

If any of you played Ravenloft when it went to 3.0 they had a book called Book of Vile Darkness or some such and it had a feat called Feral Rearing. Basically it did the following. A: Changed your character type from Humanoid to Animal. Thus Rangers who had a favored enemy humans didn't get their bonus because you didn't behave like a human instead reacted like an animal. And Charm Person fails on you but charm Animal or Monster works.
B: You can now speak in the language of the animal you were raised by but are illiterate in any other language unless you spend the two skill points. Taking class levels that would normally let you be literate still require you to spend the skill points.
C: Gives you the equivilant of Wild Empathy. Plus a +4 on Handle Animal and Wild Empathy checks involving your parent species.
D: Gave you a +2 Outcaste rating making people less trusting of you and your bizzare nature.

I don't have the book on hand at the time of this posting, when I return home I will find it and give a page number.

Anyway, anyone got room?

Edit: Also, because my character type IS Animal I am also a legal target of the Animal Companion spell.
