Have to admit, that's a rare wrinkle in the 'Let's bomb someplace' spectrum of motives.

Florida Doctors can now ask patients if they have guns in their homes.

Meh, I don't see much harm in it. :P

Honestly, as a gun owner I don't care if my doctor asks. The common thread in that comment section about how this is a way for the government to take away guns is just silly. I am really really tired of that particular scare tactic. Oh no! They will take my guns!! Yeah not gonna happen, and I tell my doc everything anyway. We already spoken at length about my entire body, my eating habits, my habits under the sheets (or on the kitchen table, or strapped to a St Andrews cross). so why not this?

For those in the U.K., please continue to pressure them to just simply ban Trump from coming over there. I'm glad that it is at least being contemplated: http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_58a9e592e4b07602ad55c35f?

I don't want him holding court over here, but I'd pay to see him interviewed by Jeremy Paxman on live TV. Bloodsports, yay.

Guns are not legal where I am and it suits me very fine, but I would find it strange for a doctor to ask (if they were legal). It's not really a medical issue..

I think it would depend on the circumstances surrounding the question.  It could very well be a safety issue.  If it's a psychiatric doctor, and the patient had shown signs of suicidal thoughts, it would be a concern.  Or if it was a person with a history of suspicious injuries, and the doctor suspected abuse, knowing that a gun is in the house might impact what advice they give the patient.  It could even be beneficial for someone caring for a relative with declining mental facilities or new parents, who might not have considered the gun a 'thing to worry about' until that point.

We should also remember that, at least in America, those with psychological issues are more likely to shoot themselves, or go on killing sprees. So in my view the concern is justified. We have to look at the aggregate picture, not the anecdotes...

I still can't decide if I should hate Bill Maher for giving Milo a platform on his show or if I should just laugh at that guy for being a hillarious parody of the very cliche he pretends to be.

Considering how much NASA hates giving press conferences when they know the media always misinterprets their data, this must be something really big. Or maybe it's not, and they're just playing the populist game to protect their funding under the new administration.

I think it might just be a routine thing actually; whenever there are discoveries or new developments (whether in space or in data-mining techniques) they will always host a conference regarding it. It is possible that it could pertain to Earht-size or Earth-like planets, but even then I don't think it would be anything major.

If they did in fact find another Earth, or life on it, something like that would be announced as quickly as possible...

Looks like Milo is in even more trouble now; he's taken to resigning from Breibart: http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_58ac83fbe4b0e784faa20f26?

Good riddance! Though, of you read the article, it appears that Breibart thinks the leaks are part of some sort of "left-wing" conspiracy  ::) ::)

TheGlyphstone

The Left has secretly invented both mind control and time travel, to retroactively force Milo to make those comments. Truly a heinous conspiracy.

I think the most interesting thing here is how the guy who believed he could, and indeed should, say anything, is reportedly resigning due tot he aftershock of his "Poor choice of words."

There's some amusing irony there, and I definitely not above enjoying it.

Arguably, it is one, and one of the major problems with addressing gun violence in the United States is the inability to treat it as a risk factor for some very bad medical outcomes.

Like smoking, or high risk sex, it's something where public health folks think that your doctor being able to talk to you about it would make a pretty big dent in fatalities.
