HERE IS THE COMPLETED SHEET - SORRY TO DOUBLE POST IT

Gangrel - 'The Mad King'

Current Occupation: Trickster, he likes to trick and treat.

Home World Information: Gangrel hails from the eastern continent of Ylisse which is the successor name of Akaneia generations ago when the Hero-King Marth once walked the lands.  Ylisse is split into three nations, the Halidom of Ylisse, Regna Ferox, and the Theocracy of Plegia.

Appearance/Style Description: Gangrel is a flamboyantly dressed individual.  Preferring to wear bold colors and materials.  In spite of no longer being the ruler of Plegia, still wears his crown and other symbols of royalty he once had as the ruler of Plegia.  He is a wiry fellow and not built like many strong warriors that roam the lands of Ylisse, but he does have a spring to his step which shows that he is still quite athletic.

Sexuality: Living in the desert wastes of Plegia and as ruler of that theocratic state, Gangrel's sexuality is heterosexual.  Though being a very hedonistic-and mad-king, it is unknown what sort of things Gangrel has done or not done.  In his current state however, it is known that he does enjoy the comfort of a woman should he get the chance.

Personality: Having grown up in the harsh lands of Plegia and as a mere street thug, Gangrel developed a deranged and almost primal like personality.  He clawed his way to the top in hopes of changing Plegia, but he succumbed to the bloodlust of war and killing.  Gangrel became cruel, deranged, and easily distracted.  He saw mankind as beasts that fought, killed, and devoured their prey.  After his fall by the hands of Chrom, Gangrel's personality changed however.  Though still deranged, cruel and easily distracted, he was humbled and humiliated.  He sees himself as trash, though with the help of Chrom, Robin, and the Shepherds he has snapped too and sees himself of some use, albeit akin to rabid dog that goes out and kills as a means to help out.  He has grown a bit softer as well, vowing to help any Plegian who has lost their way.

Gangrel enjoys killing, and even though he fights on the side of good, he still enjoys killing, bloodshed, and manipulation.

History: Born a common thug in the Theocracy of Plegia, Gangrel was subjected to the cruel realities of the world.  He fought his way to the top in an effort to save Plegia, but in the end became twisted by the harshness of the world around him.  He saw the world as a kill or be killed world, witnessing not just the atrocities of the Grimleal(The ruling faith in Plegia who worship Grima, the Fell Dragon) in Plegia but the father of the late Exalt of Ylisse, Emmeryn, and current Exalt, Chrom was a tyrant that subjected great harshness onto Plegia all in the name of a good against evil.  So Gangrel became the King of Plegia and went on his crusade against Ylisse.  Using guile and subterfuge to use his own forces cross into Ylissean territory disguised as bandits to harass and intimidate the Halidom of Ylisse and break them.

He used the standing of 'retaliation against Ylisse's brutality' as thinly cloaked excuse to commit the atrocities he greatly enjoyed and committing across the continent.

During the majority of his rule as the 'Mad King', Gangrel tried to start a war with Ylisse and acquire Ylisse's most sacred possession, the Fire Emblem.  However, due to Emmeryn's pacifistic nature, trying to provoke her into going to war proved to be rather cumbersome and so went to other means in causing a war to happen by manipulating the more hot-headed and overprotective brother of Emmeryn, Chrom.

By capturing Maribelle who was a member of the Shepherds(a militia unit led by Chrom) and a member of nobility in Ylisse's courts, he tried to force Emmeryn's hand into handing over the Fire Emblem for Maribelle's life.  The coercion into getting the Fire Emblem almost succeeds but Chrom gets in the way and cuts down a few Plegian soldiers who were going to do harm to Emmeryn.  This was enough for Gangrel to see that Ylisse made a declaration of war and allowed him to move the Plegian people to fighting against Ylisse, thus causing another Plegian/Ylissean war.  Gangrel spent the majority of his time in getting rid of Emmeryn and acquiring the Fire Emblem during the war and eventually sacked the capital of Ylisse, Ylisstol and captured Emmeryn.

Gangrel proceeded to take her back to Plegia Castle where he would execute her the next day on sunrise by forcing her off of a cliff.

Chrom and the Shepherds arrived and defeated the Plegian forces around the castle grounds to secure a route for the Pegasus Knights to retrieve Emmeryn.  However, this was all a trap as Gangrel with the help of Aversa laid a trap and killed all the Pegasus Knights with a group of Risen(undead) archers.  With the upper hand, Gangrel gave Chrom an ultimatum:  Hand over the Fire Emblem or let Emmeryn die.  Before Chrom was able to make a choice, Emmeryn made the choice for them and sacrificed herself so that her brother would not have to feel guilty about the choice he wold have to make.

Gangrel laughed at all of this while Chrom was forced to retreat.  This was the beginning of Gangrel's fall though, as many within Plegia saw Emmeryn's sacrifice as noble and in vain and were very demoralized in continuing the fight.  Maddened and enraged, Gangrel started to kill anyone and their families and friends if they refused to fight.  His actions only proved to weaken the Plegian war effort as his reign ended when Chrom met him in battle with a combined military force from Regna Ferox and Ylisse's own military went against his small but loyal forces in the Border Wastes.  Chrom defeated him in battle and thus the tale of the 'Mad King' came to an end.

Or did it?

Gangrel survived his battle against Chrom as a broken, pathetic shell of a person and eked out a living as nothing more for a grunt under the pirate captain known as Zanth, who ironically treated Gangrel like trash.

Gangrel lived that way until Chrom ran into him once again in the field of battle.  Chrom and his Shepherds encounters Zanth's forces while trying to galvanize the world against the newly awakened Grima, which threatened to destroy all if not defeated.  Gangrel saw Chrom and tried to force the man to kill him as he knew Chrom was still angry over Emmeryn's death.  Seeing how pathetic Gangrel has gotten, Chrom refuses too and eventually convinces Gangrel to join the fight against Grima as the Fell Dragon was a bigger priority over killing Gangrel.

Gangrel fights with Chrom and his forces and starts lighten up, eventually being accepted by a few members in the Shepherds(including Chrom's strategist).  He makes his vow to do better in spite feeling that he may never seek atonement and continues his 'madness' in fighting against Grima and doing whatever good he could do for the world.

After the war against Grima, Gangrel fell into obscurity.  Historians debate that he either fell into the gutters or sought a new land to rule.  All nearly agreed he was dead in a matter of years...

Current Situation:  Gangrel actually did neither, he left his homeworld in efforts to try to improve the hope of others by doing what he does best:  Killing, mutilating, and using his silver tongue against the darkness.  While many have not gotten the memo that Gangrel was not amongst the bad guys, Gangrel would use that to his advantage in luring unsuspecting and stupid villains out in the open to, 'negotiate' a chance of working together, only to spring an ambush and kill or severely damage the efforts of that villain.  So far this charade has lasted up until he encountered Ganondorf who saw through his ruse and nearly killed Gangrel, forcing the 'Mad King' to retreat and find a place to lick his wounds.

Weapon:  Gangrel, as a Trickster is an agile and swift fighter, able to use both a staff as a healing or support item and use swords.  Due to that, Gangrel carries two different swords on him and one staff on him for the time being.

Levin Sword:  Gangrel carries this sword as his main weapon.  This sword is a common magical weapon, but its strength lays with the magical aptitude of the wielder and not the strength.  Gangrel being an adept user in the arcane arts has put this weapon to decent use and mainly uses the weapon due to the range the weapon has over other blades.  This is because a Levin Sword is capable of summoning lightning bolts to attack its foes in a short distance, and does not need a line of sight to strike as it is perfectly capable of striking foes on the other side of a wall or barrier with ease.

Killing Edge:  Gangrel carries a katana forged in the lands of Chon'sin on the continent of Valm.  The weapon is very useful in striking critical spots of an enemy and its design is useful for times when Gangrel needs to kill someone and make a show out of it-like slicing a jugular.

Balmwood Staff:  Due to working alone alot, Gangrel needed an item that would help him heal himself more than healing others and so uses this type of staff to do so as not only is it capable of healing others but also capable of healing the user too.

Special Powers:

Locktouch - Gangrel is capable of opening up nearly any locked door or chest without the use of a key.

Lifetaker - If Gangrel kills an enemy he can recover half of his maximum health

Pass - Gangrel is capable of passing through spaces occupied by enemy units without fear of being struck or his own speed impeded.

Strengths:

Agile - Gangrel is light on his fight and capable of moving across most terrain with ease and grace.

Cunning- Gangrel did not become the King of Plegia through sheer force of might.  He attained his position through guile and trickery.  Capable of tricking even the strategist of Chrom's Shepherds, Robin, at least once which caused the death of Exalt Emmeryn.

Psychotic - To put it lightly, Gangrel is a bit on the psychotic end of things.  Not necessarily on the level of like Kefka or Albedo Piazzolla, but it is of note that Gangrel is one that has no care about how an enemy feels or what he does to them as long as in the end they are dead and he gets a good laugh out of it.  Also, since he does not particularly care for his own well-being in most circumstances, this makes it hard for people to get information out of him through torture of most forms.  Now he is able to listen to reason and logic, but it takes someone of strong will to convince him of such or someone who has earned his respect-like Chrom for the prior and Robin for the latter.

Weaknesses:

Pyschotic - This is a double-edged sword for Ganrel.  Since he does not care for his own health that much, this does lead to him getting into scrapes that are too big for him to handle, and moreso when he gets into a bloodlust.

Powerful Fighters - Gangrel is lithe and limber, able to strike a foe in an artery or cut a tendon.  Weakening a foe, but if he gets hit by those who are strong-built, and he is unable to kill them, it would hurt the 'Mad King' greatly and maybe kill him.

Untrustworthy - Because of his lust of hurting and killing, psychotic leanings, and ruthless cunning, Gangrel is one that makes most noble heart hard trust.

Nice but this is not grid based so some of his talents and skills may not translate well in this. Lifetaker might be too strong of a power as an example since books can qualify for that talent.

I was having a hard time working with Gangrel so I have put up a new sheet.

Soma Cruz

Current Occupation: Currently living in the Hakuba Shrine as a college student, trying to scrape by while doing his best to be a normal person.

Home World Information:  Soma's world is very much the same as the real world.  The history is about same, with some minor tweaks that don't really affect history at all due to the fact that these events were either seen as myths, legends, old wives' tales, or even government conspiracy.  This is mostly in regards in terms to the supernatural.  The general rule of thumb is, if there there is a myth about it, it exists, though it may not be the same as the myth.  Much of the conflict in the supernatural world was mainly in regards to the fights against Dracula, King of the Vampires, Lord of Darkness, etc etc.(he goes by many titles).  Recently with the final defeat of Dracula and his castle being sealed in a solar eclipse, his threat is diminished greatly and now many other threats have surfaced.  These threats mostly revolve around the inheritor of Dracula's powers, who is Soma himself.  Many desire to awake Soma's inner darkness to cause him to reawaken as the Dark Lord and bring about Dracula's return.

Appearance/Style Description: Soma Cruz is a young man in the age of nineteen.  He generally wears casual clothes, mainly a black turtleneck and bluejeans while wearing his signature white trenchcoat.  He has the look of someone who has seen a great deal of things a young man should not have seen, but still keeps a positive outlook in spite of inheriting the powers of Dracula and many wanting to either use him or kill him for their own means, whether it be for good or evil.

Sexuality:  Soma is still young and naive in the ways of love and sex so it can be assumed he is a very vanilla and heterosexual person in regards to sexuality.

Personality: Soma Cruz is generally a kind and compassionate youth, trying to make his own life better and protect the people he cares and support.  He is brash and sometimes does not listen to what others have to say, especially if it is in regards to a threat to his own life or the life of someone he cares.  That isn't to say that he does not take responsibility for his actions and that he isn't a team player, just those two things will cause Soma to not think at times.  When it comes to his powers, Soma tries to not think about them, knowing it is a source of all the issues he has had for the recent past of his life and feels guilty at times.  That does not mean he will not use his powers if necessary and will gladly put them to use if desired.

History: "Soma was studying in Japan in the year 2035, the year where the first solar eclipse of the twenty-first century was to occur, and he and Mina were on their way to see the astral event when fate stepped in: the two are transported into Dracula's castle itself. Immediately protective of Mina, Soma sets out into the castle to find an exit and save themselves from its demonic influence.

Soma encounters various other individuals were drawn into the castle, and from them learns Dracula is indeed dead, but his castle seeks a new master. During the battle against the castle’s monsters he demonstrates an ability that he was not aware of possessing previously: the Power of Dominance, the ability to steal the souls of life forms and bend them to his will in various shapes and effects. This supernatural trait is a derivation of Dracula's primary power, the ability to command monsters.

Soma soon encounters a deranged missionary named Graham Jones who believes himself to be the incarnation of Dracula, because of his birth at the very moment Dracula was ultimately slain in the battle of 1999. But Soma, in demonstrating the power to rule over souls, becomes Graham’s target, and the two engage in a battle which Soma eventually wins - but in doing so, he absorbs a startling amount of the castle’s dark power and comes to realize a shocking revelation: his powers and Dracula's soul are one and the same - Soma is the next incarnation of Dracula himself, and therefore may inherit Castlevania as its new lord and master. Soma then heeds the advice of Genya Arikado and travels to a chaotic realm where he must confront the core of Chaos, the source of Dracula’s dark power. As he hopes to escape from his bonds with the castle. Soma receives encouraging words telepathically from Mina and his other friends which he had encountered over the course of his adventure in the castle, and is therefore able to defeat Chaos, retain his identity, resist Dracula's inheritance, and escape with everyone from Castlevania as it is drawn back into the eclipse. In conquering this personal challenge, Soma becomes more open and trusting to those around him, though his mysterious powers still reside within.

One year after this event, Soma is attacked in Hakuba City by the mysterious Celia Fortner, the priestess of a cult dedicated to the revival of Dracula. Celia disappears with the grim proclamation that Soma will be eliminated by any means necessary, so that she may take his power and revive the Lord of Darkness. Arikado assures Soma that he and his subordinates will handle the situation, but Soma is not willing to sit behind; He tracks Celia to her headquarters, a massive replica of Dracula's Castle, and once more wields the power of dominance to battle the summoned demons within.

Soma encounters Celia several times throughout his exploration, as well as two men, Dmitrii Blinov and Dario Bossi, who were born at the exact time of Dracula's 1999 destruction much like Graham Jones, and as such are candidates to receive the title and power of Dark Lord that Soma currently holds. Dmitrii and Dario attempt to kill him on separate occasions but are defeated, causing Celia to alter her strategy; she plans to draw out Dracula’s influence within Soma outward and mold him into the Dark Lord by playing on his emotions. Soma witnesses the apparent murder of a captive Mina by Celia, and his anger gives rise to the powers of Chaos.

But Soma recovers, as Arikado appears and exposes him about Celia's plan. He then transfers his powers emerged from his anger to Mina, who is actually a Doppelgänger in disguise. Soma’s seismic shift of emotions then allows for the self-revival of Dmitrii, whose soul resided in Soma after he was first bested in battle by the former, and he and Celia leave with the declaration that they have gone back to their original plan to simply kill Soma so that Dmitrii can become the new Dark Lord. Soma pursues them to the castle’s Abyss, where he witnesses Dmitrii sacrificing Celia and absorbing the powers of a calamitous demon, and the two are about to do battle when Dmitrii’s soul is overcome and his body explodes into the titanic, monstrous demon Menace which Soma destroys at length after a large-scale battle.

The dark power and souls of Menace suddenly rush into Soma’s body and nearly overwhelm him, once again causing him to come dangerously close to becoming the embodiment of the Dark Lord himself, but through sheer will and by thinking of Mina he resists the influence and escapes the collapsing castle of Celia’s cult, where he rejoins all his friends and allies. Soma relates to Arikado a certain feeling of guilt he holds for not accepting the role of the Dark Lord, the role that is theologically necessary to be fulfilled in order for God to be truly good, but Arikado assures that though there may be need of a Dark Lord to fill that purpose in the future, there is no reason why it should only be him. Having conquered his final challenge, Soma is free to live his life as it is normally meant" (Castlevania Wiki).

Current Situation: Unfortunately that is not the case, Soma while trying to finish his studies in Japan and enjoy his peace with Mina Hakuba was attacked by sorcerer by the name of Shang Tsung and his hordes of forces that were from a place call Outrealm.  Shang Tsung was interested in Soma's powers and wanted to take Soma's soul.  Soma fought and was almost defeated, however, he was able to get help from his friends and they were all able to make a retreat from their home and into safety.  With Genya Arikado, Julius Belmont, Hammer, Yoko Belnades, and Mina Hakuba with him, Soma decided that it was time to start getting himself stronger again to fight back this growing threat of darkness that exists beyond the realm of his world.

Weapon: Soma is capable of wielding a great deal of weapons, such as axes, spears, greatswords, katanas, even handguns with moderate effeciency.  He may not be at the level of some like Dante in terms of weapon skills, but his wide breadth of knowledge of using weapons of multiple types shows that he is adept in learning different styles and types of weapons and still be useful in combat.  With the aid of Yoko Belnades(or other soul forging experts), Soma is able to acquire more powerful weapons using the souls of creatures he possess.  Should he need to acquire other weapons he can go to Hammer and purchase the gear he needs (and then proceed to upgrade it with Yoko), or acquire weapons from other means.

His current set of weapons right now includes...

Yasutsuna - Doujikiri Yasutsuna, a sword said to have cut off a demon's arm.

Silver gun - Shoots 9mm silver bullets that have been ritually blessed.

Special Powers:

POWER OF DOMINANCE: An unexpected sequence of events in Dracula's Castle caused Soma's dormant powers to be awaken with Dracula's primary ability, the power to rule over defeated monsters and demon's souls and to project them in a variety of forms according to their potential. These souls, from lowest to greatest will obey Soma and will support, protect and even fight alongside Soma to defeat his enemies. Though Soma dislikes and even fears this power, he will have to rely on it to brave the aberrations of Dracula's castle and live to tell about it. These souls can be projected in four different forms portrayed by their color (some souls in Dawn of Sorrow may come in different soul types from when they were encountered in Aria of Sorrow which could be argued is an effect of changing situations and having to find new ways to use those same souls).

  • Red Bullet Souls: The offensive souls of the group, the Red Bullet souls are based on all out physical damage, elemental damage, status changing and sometimes a combination of most to crush enemy defenses. Bullet Souls essentially serve as Soma's version of the common "Sub-weapon" in the Castlevania series. These souls range from shooting rings of water, to lobbing grenades, to tossing out une seeds that grow into Unes
  • Blue Guardian Souls: The protective souls of the group, the Blue Guardian soul can enhance Soma's statistic potential, guards Soma from additional damage, transform Soma into them, or even fight alongside Soma for additional damage, at the cost of Mana. The Devil guardian soul, for example, causes all of Soma's stats to greatly rise, but it drains his health as long as it's active.
  • Yellow Enchanted Souls: The supportive souls of the group, the Yellow Enchanted souls boosts Soma's status with no additional cost of Mana, though they may not boost Soma's status much, sometimes the help they give may be more than enough to decide between victory or failure in a fight. Some enchanted souls, such as the zombie soul in Aria of Sorrow, causes Soma to become far more powerful when he is afflicted by poison. A similar soul in Dawn of Sorrow, the Ghoul Soul, allows for Soma to eat spoiled or rotten foods, all of which would normally cause him to fall grievously ill, and restore his hp with it.
  • Silver Ability Souls: Silver Ability Souls: The movement souls of the group, the Silver movement soul allows Soma to enhance his movement, such as a high jump, a double jump, underwater travel and breaking certain blocks.
  • Soul Combo: Some Bullet and Guardian souls resonate with one another and they can allow Soma to cast Bullet Souls for free when the Guardian Soul is activated.

ARMS CRITICAL ATTACK: Soma can project his Mana through his weapon and gives the weapons special property of damage, such as speed, strength, length or distance and in some cases even releasing a weapons hidden powers such as the Gungner's ability to shoot a powerful lightning bolt in a similar fashion to the Item Crush ability that Vampire hunters are capable of using with their sub-weapons.

MAGIC SEALS: Soma mastered Magic Seals, used to counter demons that regenerate their lives through the Portal of Darkness. The Gates of Darkness cannot function without the seals, like a cover to a hole. However, complicated seals can be created to ensure the caster have difficult time sealing the Gate within the given time. Soma has mastered up to level five seals within the time he invaded Celia's castle. In an alternate ending it is shown that magic seals can also be used as a form of binding spell which allowed Soma to seal Dario's Dark lord powers

Strengths:

Generalist:  Soma has no great strength besides his Power of Dominance, and is quite a well-rounded fighter.  Knowledgeable in magic, physical, and ranged combat, Soma is able to fulfill nearly any role given to him so long as he has the right souls and gear equipped.

Occult Knowledge:  Due to his powers drawing in people and creatures of savory and unsavory intent, Soma has gained a wide knowledge in the occult arts.  While he isn't an expert in the field, he knows enough to keep himself alive.

Weaknesses:

Inner Darkness:  Being the possessor of Dracula's powers, Soma Cruz possesses great power.  This power though comes at a cost and is another reason why Soma is scared of his powers at times.  Should Soma undergo tremendous emotional stress (such as experiencing losing someone he loves), the darkness within him will take over and he will assume the role of the Dark Lord.

Creature of Darkness:  Soma, in spite being good natured, possesses dark powers and thus can be harmed by items that are holy or sanctified (i.e. the Vampire Killer, the Master Sword, Falchion, Star Dragon Sword, etc.).  It is not known whether Soma can hold these sanctified items, but it can be surmised that since he lives at the Hakuba Shrine that these sanctified items only hurt him if he is struck by them.

Hello, I'm interested in writing Samus Aran. Saw she's marked as inactive and might be available conditionally.

If I'm wanting to explore a character and don't get anything out of sparring, is this a place where I'd have fun?

No one has to join Main Threads, so you would be free to do that actually! At least that is as I see it, a GM would have a more definitive answer.

Are the characters still based out of New York or have things moved way beyond that? I see there's a ship with a holodeck and stuff.

New York is more like a Hub world and in a vague timezone so mostly for character interactions.

I'm a fan of Samus Aran, almost right up there with FemShepard and Liara T'Soni, Link, etc, so I'm all for seeing her pop up.  That said, I don't want to sound like an ass, but I'm hoping she comes across as the badass, hardened, jaded woman she's likely become after so many wars, so many losses, and what have you over some Mary Sue crap I've seen over on Fanfiction.Net lol.  Sorry, I just have passionate opinions about my more loved characters.  I won't be a pain in the ass in-game, promise.

Don't influence people, let them play their characters the way they want.

Dhi

Getting a character's voice right is important to me. Samus is perhaps intentionally so wide open a character that it's probably inevitable we will see her a little differently. Fanfiction.net isn't something I have any experience with but I don't see her as a real drill sergeant hardass. Her narrative is detached. She challenges herself to do amazing things but when the fame comes she disappears for years. She developed a bond with an orphaned space jellyfish killing machine. She projected human personality onto an unfeeling computer. These are the kinds of things I find interesting about Samus and what informs her deeper character for me.

Vergil1989

Lol sorry LB, Dhi.  And that post actually reassures me quite a bit, so by all means go nuts.  And as I said, even if it did become a problem, I'd keep my mouth shut.  I just would do my best to avoid you as much as possible lol.

New York is a kind of haven when they are not out on a mission. Indeed they have a ship and it is inter dimensional. Capable of traveling between worlds.

Also Dhi, play Samus the way you'd like.

Any other questions of importance?

Welcome Dhi!

You'll find this is a great group with so many wonderful, and friendly writers.

And yes, there is several Non-combat related Side threads where you can mess with your character, and get a feel for how to play her. ;D

Dhi

Current Situation is something I could use some help with. I know a lot less about the Alliance and Legion than I do Samus Aran.

Vergil1989

It's more what is Samus doing now, her living situation, things like that.  Is she a bartender, running a group of her own?  Is she just wandering, lost and rudderless?  Just something along those lines is what it means for Current Situation.  ;D

Samus Aran

Current Occupation: NYPD Highway Patrol.

Home World Information: Primarily Zebes, a high gravity, chemically noxious planet of endless water caves inhospitable to higher forms of life.

Appearance/Style Description: Samus is among the tallest human women in the world at 6'3", so regardless of her curves she cuts a long and lean figure. And yet, she wears heels. A youth spent training under heightened gravity left every inch of her almost superhumanly strong, and this greater concentration of muscle gives her a weird, limber grace that seems more android than human. Samus has been known to be able to tuck her entire body into a small sphere.
Flaxen blonde hair thick and heavy as spun silk is gathered high in a scrunchie, but ribbons always slip free over either ear and bangs always fall just shy of her eyes, giving the impression all that hair is a penance. Just below and left of her lip is a distinct beauty mark, echoed elsewhere on her body. Her cerulean blue eyes are decidedly almond-shaped and routinely half-lidded.
When not slathered in protective PVC like a second skin, Samus is often in her varia suit, a highly articulated spacesuit of iridescent orange, yellow, and red reminiscent of a dragon's scales. The suit disguises her gender until she speaks in the whispery, sepulchral voice of a sultry torch singer. She smells like polished new tech, post-workout showers, neon city noodles and superheated plasma.

Sexuality: Lesbian

Personality: The way Samus Aran exceeded as a Federation Police cadet, one might believe she has something to prove, but not to any man or woman alive. Instead, as the lone survivor of a human colony, Samus struggles to make sense of her existence. Her performance certainly makes her superiors look good, but Samus is better left off the leash. Her past accomplishments are dimly recalled compared to her speculation on the future, so she is ever chasing new tigers and avoids much human contact.
The real woman behind the suit values her alone time, taking human interaction in small nibbles that allow her to retreat and think things through. She prepares small talk in advance. Still, the idea of people fascinates her, and she fosters a surprising insight into the human condition watching life unfold. At least as much emotion is invested in inanimate technology as in people. She avoids crowds, and keeps an escape hatch handy to pull up roots and disapper.

History: The short and sweet is this: a happy accident was born on space mining colony K-2L in the year 2055, and at three she became the only survivor of a space pirate attack. Young Samus was rescued by enlightened members of the birdlike Chozo race, and spent her youth with wizened teachers on inhospitable Zebes, becoming a warrior worthy of the peerless Chozo.

Samus Aran returned to humanity as a star pupil of the Federation Police, where she was granted opportunity to hunt down space pirates and avenge colony K-2L. The vengeance was empty, but Samus had her first taste of true sport, and her first encounter with metroids, a species of killer engineered by the Chozo during the height of their violent expansion. Samus eradicated the metroids to but a single hatchling which imprinted on her like a child. The two shared a strange bond which enabled its unprecedented peaceful return to captivity, earning her a reputation as dragon tamer.

But the Metroid Incident was only one of Samus Aran's many adventures. As a highly regarded Galactic Federation bounty hunter, Samus has successfully collected dozens of bounties with nothing at all to do with metroids.

Current Situation: Samus Aran lives comfortably in a tiny New York studio apartment for one, which is slightly more spacious than her gunship and slightly less wired to the gills with weapons and alien technology. She works nights as NYPD Highway Patrol, riding solo in a white Dodge Charger patrol car, listening to dispatch with the stars for company and chasing monsters. It's a nice life, not so different from what she left behind.

Weapons:
Wave Beam. A charged particle beam fired from the varia suit cannon. Electrified, high energy streams are driven forward by a unifying negative charge. The unifying beam passes harmlessly through most matter, but is pursued by ribbons of protons which give the wave beam its beautiful purple helix appearance. The wave beam delivers electric burns and exerts considerable force capable of ripping matter apart and, if Ghostbusters is accurate, harming ghosts.

Missiles. The varia suit machines rocket-propelled explosives on the fly. Manufacturing a single batch of five missiles requires 4.3 seconds, and until such a batch is expended or manually unloaded, the wave beam is unusable. At present, the suit contains the materials for just two batch before needing to recharge.

Grapple Beam. Whether in the varia suit or zero suit, Samus can generate an electromagnetic tether capable of supporting her weight. The tether can reach upwards of seven meters and can maintain a hold on nonliving matter almost indefinitely. Against living matter the attraction is weak and tends to lose traction quickly. As an energy weapon, the grapple beam is not easily broken by traditional weaponry.

Paralyzer. The sleek superspy weapon of the late 21st century is a beauty Samus depends on out of her varia suit, a marksman's pistol which lacks the punch of the wave beam but is quick, discrete, and accurate. The paralyzer disrupts electronics and nervous systems with a jolt that's ordinarily nonlethal, but repeated shocks have been known to kill.

Tanooki Suit. A memento of the Marioverse and Samus' sleekest suit to date, a magic leaf which can grant her raccoon ears and tail. Somehow the tail lowers her density, allowing her to glide even in the varia suit, at the cost of looking ridiculous.

Stats
Strength 1
Agility 1
Stamina 2
Power 1
Reputation 3

Special Powers:
Varia Suit. A deep space combat suit that fully encases and armors Samus, protecting her against extreme heat, acid, and the vacuum of space. Life support and targeting systems interface directly with Samus' body, requiring no special controls to move fluidly, lock on to targets, or respond to damage. The Chozo-designed suit is modular and especially designed to interface with the advanced technology of this ancient starfaring people.

Strengths:
Durable. Exposure to the harsh climes of Zebes has left Samus far more resistant to strain and environmental toxins than an ordinary person. On many planets with a breathable atmosphere, Samus doesn't even need a suit to survive, and has been known to savor the feel of alien rain. Her varia suit also contains numerous failsafes to keep her alive and kicking even in the face of catastrophic damage, such as immersion in lava or being ground under the heel of a space kaiju.

Hunter. Samus Aran is a woman after Artemis who savors the hunt like no other joy. A relentless, hungry dedication to the sport urges her on despite injury, fear, or personal loss, and it suffuses all her instincts from poise to steady trigger finger, blocking out all else. Even in bizarre alien environments, Samus is in her element when she has a bounty to hunt.

Independence. When the lines of communication go black and the gunship is stranded, when the varia suit has no power to function on an alien world, Samus Aran scrounges from the bottom Diehard style and somehow crosses the finish line with an arsenal to make modern militaries weep.

Spatial Intelligence. Most would go mad in the twisting, mazelike caves of Zebes, but for Samus Aran this was home. Her spatial intelligence is especially high, organizing how pieces fit together in three dimensions and ensuring she never loses track of where she's been. Who else could remember exactly how to get to that one grey door in a labyrinth of blue doors?

Weaknesses:
Cold. Genetic contamination with metroids has left Samus with the same vulnerability to freezing temperatures. At subzero temperatures Samus' metabolism slows to a hibernation state, and at approximately 230 Kelvin she enters cryostasis.

Virulence. Perhaps as a result of her isolation from the rest of humanity, Samus is especially vulnerable to virulence, especially dark energy corruption. Historically Samus has always needed outside help to recover from such biological attack, and without special technology stands a "less than 1% chance" of recovery.
