It's also worth mentioning that Trump probably didn't even know what was in his own health care bill:

Frankly, calling it Trumpcare is misleading anyways. It was Trump's political capital on the line, but the bill was Ryan's baby if it was anyone's.

And really, can you even pretend to be surprised that Trump is trying to blame the Democrats for something? That's like predicting that the sun is going to come up tomorrow.

I find it odd to blame the Democrats when somewhere between 20-30 republicans had publicly said they had issues.. and almost half of them said they didn't think it was worth voting on

Not really, Trump just doesn't want to admit his own party isn't on his side.

LB got what I meant. Their first reaction is going to be to try and make it the other side's fault, to try and save face. Trump is the first, but I guarantee the Congress GOP members who backed it are going to try and paint it as the Democrat's fault as well.

yeah it's a little ironic

Quote from: Paul Ryan"I will not sugar coat this. This is a disappointing day for us. Doing big things is hard."

"We were a 10-year opposition party where being against things was easy to do," he said, adding that it was difficult to get "people to agree with each other in how we do things"

Maybe the Republicans need to learn how to compromise and work with the Democrats in order to be able to get things done harhar. Seems unless they can learn to do that they can't even work with one another. Lets just hope this is the public cue to abandon the GOP as a credible party, maybe we get lucky.

Both parties are guilty of the same sins, they just wear a different mask and put on a different colored tie :P Each one acts like a spoiled child and if they don't get 100% of what they want they throw a tantrum and stomp off. They care mostly for the good of the party than the country and getting enough people to like them for the next election.

Only difference is the Democrats can be nicer than the Reps.

Sounds like a ten years plan but I agree. The US has become too large and diverse for just two major parties anyway.

It goes back to the fact I would be for it, but in reality no one other than a small minority believes its even possible, most people won't rally behind independents and third parties because they have so low a success history and then when they fail to break that cycle the cycle repeats itself.

In all honesty I would rather see such a paradigm shift that would make such a thing possible, but your really talking about going up against significant opposition that way. Not just the typical spend 2-4 years in a local office to get a feel for government, but that so many people just don't think it's possible and therefore offer you no support.

If it's going to happen then the third parties will need to get organized and active in putting people up for congress and state legislatures as a matter of habit for every cycle, no exceptions (although that assumes they have the money to find those campaigns). Nothings really going to change until thirds can show they have a chance at success. It's a sort of congressional gambit I suppose, those who have been able to do it in the past are regarded as the exception, not the rule.

Really I think the only thing that could make it possible would be a "3rd Coalition" of sorts. An alliance of green, liberals, independents and any other thirds about dedicated and motivated to the goal of making it a pluasible reality. They need to push funding and publicity to change the minds of the average American to believe that it may be possible and break the hold the legacy parties have on the American voter.

The specifics sound like a pagan ritual???

I honestly don't support animal sacrifice no matter the circumstance, but if they could have kept their ritual to a more appropriate venue . . .

HairyHeretic

Most pagans wouldn't do animal sacrifice. Whatever it was, it sounds odd though.
