Can we drop in NPCs?

yupp. as long as it isnt anything too out there. Katrina Steiner won't show up to say hi ^^

Captain Whitebread

Even if she's a cousin?

I had a character who had in his history the fact that he made a pass at her in an officer's club because he didn't recognize her.  He turned eight shades of crimson when she introduced herself.

I was thinking more of co-pilots etc...

Captain Whitebread

Pilot
Name: Angelo "Angel" Angelino
Sex: Male
BattleMech: Warrior H-7C VTOL "Double Angel"
Homeworld: Redfield
Original Faction: Federated Commonwealth

Description: Angel is well tanned and usually sports several days grown of beard, unless he's been ordered to shave.  He has hazel eyes that seem to look into your soul.  He's frequently shirtless, if the weather allows.  He has a shrapnel scar on right hip, where he was impaled by a shard of armour during the battle that led to his court martial.
Faceclaim: Theo Theodoridis

Background: Angelo Angelino was an up and coming officer in the Federated Commonwealth mobile artillery.  In command of a squad of Chaparral artillery tanks, he made the mistake of  disobeying an order to retreat and not only survived but held the position long enough for reinforcements to arrive and stabilized the line.  Instead of being commended for his bravery in the face of overwhelming odds, he was court martialed for disobedience.  Embarrassing high ranking officers was not a way to win friends but it certainly influenced people.  He was dishonourably discharged after serving a very short sentence in a military prison.

He was able to join a mercenary unit as part of their supply division, where he piloted a Ferret or a Karnov to resupply front line troops.  When the supply depot was overrun, Angel climbed into a Warrior and tied up the advancing enemy long enough for the majority of the supply troops  to escape.  The mercenary unit never recovered, so Angel took the Warrior and joined Vixen's Raiders.

Personality: His court martial left Angel with a bitter taste in his mouth when it came to the upper echelon but he still has faith in the lower ranks.  He still has some trace of his old discipline but it does not show often.  He does his job as ordered but the urge to do his best still burns brightly.  He will go out of his way to protect his allies in they are in danger, even to the point of disobeying orders.  His court martial and prison term taught him that the upper echelon cared more about their reputation than their men.

Off duty, he prefers to relax and will either be found tinkering with his Warrior or looking for a poker game.  He has no family or at last no family that will recognize him and he doesn't expect to survive the war.  His job is to fight and he expects to die doing exactly that.  He's just not going to make it easy for the enemy to kill him.

He sees all warriors as equals, whether they be mechwarriors, tank jockeys or infantry.  Any mechwarrior who expects preferential treatment is in for a disappointment.  He's far more into casual encounters than a long term relationship; he doesn't want to leave a devastated lover behind, should he not return from a mission.

Speciality Skills: Angel can make his VTOL dance the way few pilots even dare.  He is on record performing an outside loop and a barrel roll in a Ferret Light Scout VTOL, an attempt to evade fire from an aerospace fighter.  He was able to lure the superior craft into the field of fire of an company of Partizan Heavy anti-aircraft tanks and escaped the encounter with his Ferret intact.

Sexual On: Angel enjoys the prelude as much as he enjoys the act.  Extended foreplay is a huge turn on for him.  He's experimented with bondage and doesn't mind it.  He likes flavoured lubes and drives a mean vibrator.

Sexual Offs: Quickies aren't on his playlist.  If you're going to do something, take the time to do it right.   He doesn't like scat or golden showers.  Dirty sex is one thing.   They are something else.

welcome onboard :) LRM-10 .. yikes thats kinda nasty on such a quick machine

Captain Whitebread

Lose a little range dropping the AC 2 but I'll take the extra damage thanks.

Stay at long range and there will always be something better to shoot at.  Stay high enough and it takes other aerial assets to take you out and are the Clans going to dedicate an aerospace lance for a single VTOL?

Too bad the Yellowjacket won't be around for another few years.

Hi I might be interested. Would you allow pilots from Mercenary units, Like the Eridani Light Horse?

as long as the time period is right I don't see why they couldn't have been in those units before joining the Vixens

Marie Reynolds

Yep they are  around and get  to witness the death of there dream. When Kerenskys descendants return and instead of  bringing back the  Star League they bring nothing but death.

Not quite ready yet to set up a sheet, but throwing thoughts out there as <character> tells me - maybe some of you guys want to hook into some of that.

* "Cousin" Katrina? With the way noble lineages work out, she might be. Third or fourth cousin, several times removed, from a political marriage a century or two ago.
* Former LCAF 'Mech pilot, quit after the unification with the Federated Suns - when he joined, being a minor noble's brat was enough to earn a Colonel's eagles and a cushy posting somewhere out of the way. In an AFFC RCT, he'd have to risk his life for that - for a leader he does not even consider his liege. <Character> is definitely a Lyran loyalist and does not support the union with the Suns.
* Somehow ended up in the arenas on Solaris VII after he quit the army. Haven't quite worked out how that happened yet
* Has all the affectations of a stuck-up noble, but does not actually believe any of that any more. It is simply a way to put the opposition of balance, provoke them, get them to do something ill-advised.

Captain Whitebread

The Unification was 25 years ago, so he'd be in his mid to late 40s.

You might want to consider Outreach, rather than Solaris.

Yupp, familiar with the numbers. Do not remember the Inner Sphere placed an age limit on MechWarriors (leaving aside that a certain Wolf was on active combat duty well into her 80s.)

TheGlyphstone

Name: Alroy Fletcher Yoshikawa
Sex: Male
BattleMech: King Crab
Homeworld: Solaris VII (Xolaras Suburbs)
Original Faction: Marik

Description: In his mid-to-late 40's, Alroy in many way resembles the antique Mech he drives - squat and barrel-chested, with the powerful arms of a wrestler. He wears his black hair shaved close, sporting a mustache and neatly trimmed beard to complete the ensemble. Wound scars line his torso and right arm, with assorted marks and smaller scars decorating the rest of his body.

Background:
Born to a pair of Free Worlds League ex-patriates, grew up in Solaris City watching Mechwarrior duels and working in scrap and salvage yards. Lacking the patronage to become a professional duelist, he signed on with a mercenary regiment and shipped off-planet. His career from that point was long and varied, but unexceptional, serving in campaigns for every major House and across a good portion of the Inner Sphere.

His luck changed - somewhat - on the Kuritan world of Toriuchi while serving with the Iron Devils mercenary company. Hired by the planet's authorities to defend against pirates, the cushy contract turned out to be poisoned fruit. The pirates' strength was far greater than presented, the Kuritan officials clearly intending the foreign ronin to be cannon fodder bleeding the pirate forces down to a more manageable size. The skill and determination of the Devils was greater than either the pirates or the treacherous Kuritans had anticipated, though; they waged a savage defensive battle against the raiders against overwhelming odds. When the smoke cleared, seven crippled Iron Devil Battlemechs still stood out of fifty, having brought down almost a hundred pirate 'Mechs in the process. The final battle had taken place less than a kilometer from the home and lands of an elderly Kuritan nobleman, Lord Yoshikawa, who had watched the fight and seen in the mercenaries true samurai spirit. Already in disfavor with the Kuritan court for his interests in foreign ways of war, he saw the governors of Toriuchi trying to cheat the surviving mercenaries of their pay through legal loopholes and obscure contract subclauses, and would not permit his own honor sullied after having his life directly saved. Six of the survivors would never fight again, and he paid them generous purses from his own pockets. The seventh was Alroy Fletcher, whom Lord Yoshikawa took the unprecedented step of formally adopting and naming his heir.

The move shocked and angered many on Toriuchi, but none were more infuriated than the extendd Yoshikawa clan. Lord Yoshikawa had been wealthy despite his diminished social status, but prized among his possessions was a King Crab KGC-000 Battlemech with which he had earned fame and glory in the Kuritan military. The antique Assault 'mech had been passed down through his line for generations, and the rest of the family had waited eagerly for the childless lord to die off and revert ownership to them. They would not accept being thwarted at this late stage, and certainly not by a foreign mercenary. While lawyers challenged the new will in court, assassins were sent against Alroy. He had only a short time to adjust to his sudden change in status before again being forced to flee for his life - this time wrapped in the shell of a mighty Mech dwarfing the Shadow Hawk he had abandoned.

Since then, he had drifted from contract to contract, seeing work with any mercenary group capable of paying the upkeep on his King Crab. With the death of his adoptive father, Alroy is technically and secretly the Lord of the Yoshikawa estates but unable to return there or even communicate to rule them in absentia without bringing yet another set of assassins against him. Only the Yoshikawa clan's notorious spendthrift nature has protected him to this point, as they prefer killers who work cheaply over more skilled (and expensive) hitmen.

Personality: Jovial and friendly, but reserved. He has a tendency towards introspection, making cryptic comments and perfectly content to sit staring into space and reliving old memories for long stretches of time. Fending off a smattering of bargain-budget but commendably enthusiastic assassins over the years courtesy of his 'adoptive family' have left him with a lingering distrust of anyone visibly of Kurita heritage, though he tries to hide it.

Speciality Skills: Years of practice with the King Crab have taught Alroy every quirk and quibble of the ancient machine. While nothing in his skill stands out to a noticeable degree, he can reliably coax out a few percentage points of performance even beyond the factory specs. Necessity has made him a master mechanic specifically for the countless issues inherent to the temperamental 'Mech, with very limited experience fixing any other design.

Out of the cockpit, he does his best to live up to the supposed ideals of his empty title. Already a practiced brawler and knife-fighter, he practices with his inherited sword almost religiously, though the need to do so in privacy limits him to form drills without substance. He writes poetry with middling skill, and has a fair hand at calligraphy.

Sexual Ons: He is capable of taking a dominant role with women, and most tend to expect such from his build and demeanor. Underneath, though, he has a carefully guarded and hidden submissive streak.

Sexual Offs: Any sort of restraints, impairment (drugs, alcohol, etc.) or other physical vulnerability. One experience with a kunoichi disguised as a prostitute is enough; he doesn't mind tying a partner up, but will never stand for being immobilized himself.

Sonja's from the middle of BF nowhere. So I can disguise my lack of universe knowledge with her simply being a hick.

No age limit. Several canon mechwarriors are in their 50s. (Snord’s Irregulars spring to mind)

As said, no real age limit. I think the stuck up noble could be amusing, most of the pilots so far are the classical mercs so I think that could add quite a bit of character to our roster.
