Katherine is approved! While I really like Mari I feel she's a little too similar to Bridgette.

I noticed that while I was filling the profile out, but that's genuinely just kind of a coincidence. I basically transferred her over from a different rp I was in, and the pieces just kinda happened to fall into place in a similar way. Though to be fair while their upbringings are similar, the actual outcomes of it are different. Where as Bridgette started out as a troublemaker and ends up becoming more an "ally of justice" type thanks to her martial arts training, Mariko began to fall in with a bad crowd, and her parents attempts to discipline her only got her deeper involved in the gang instead of turning her away from it. In a lot of ways they're actually opposites despite their similarities, one becoming a disciplined kung fu master, the other becoming an "noble hoodlum". There's an interesting sort of dichotomy there that personally I think would make them good rivals and an interesting dynamic to explore. Things like the contrast between being oprhaned and growing up with your original family, being the one to start committing crimes yourself and being pulled in with people who do, doing bad things out of poverty versus just wanting to fit in with a bad crowd, genuinely throwing oneself into their training vs. using it as a means of showing off, going solo vs. staying part of a group (even to one's own detriment) etc. etc. Yes it is easy to look at their similarities and say they're too similar, but there is potential for something a bit deeper if you look for it.

I'll get the game up and running on Friday, but even after that I'll keep this open for recruiting if there is still interest, so no rush.

Well I would like to announce my interest and I think I might come from Unova. Possibly leaning towards a ghost/darkness user. Would this Academy Allow for Dual Majors and Minors to be taken by students?

Silk

Name: Miki
Home Region: Kalos
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bi-Curious

Student Details
Major: Ranger

Pokemon: Rapidash
Pancham, Teddiursa, Cubchoo

Strengths: Miki has extensive experience surviving on her own in the wilderness as part of her training as a Pokemon Ranger, this includes several key knowledges
such as nutritional needs and herbal remidies.

Weaknesses: Due to the amount of time Miki has spend isloated in the middle of nature, she is not comfortable around civilization or large groups of people, and is entirely unfamilliar with current events. She is particularly attached to her old teddybear from her childhood and has difficulty sleeping without it, often times it will take a sizeable portion of her backpack.

Look/Appearance:  Miki is a little shorter than the average girl her age, however due to hiking and navigating the wilds for weeks on end, she has a well formed body suited to outdoor life, however her hair does look like it needs some more care than she gives it as Miki often keeps her hair tied back.

Student History
Personality: Miki tends to shy away from large groups of people especially those that are obviously from the city, this aversiveness tends to make her come across as quiet and aloof, not wanting attention from others, however she does dearly hope to form some attachments with others, if only her shy evasive nature allowed her to let people in. However she becomes a great deal more energetic and affectionate when she is within her natural element. In situations where she is out of her element, Miki finds comfort in her childhood teddybear, allowing her to stomach the situation, without it she becomes a lot less comfortable and less willing to participate.

Background: Miki had a rather uneventful start of her life in Kalos, her family ran a small bar in Shalour city, however due to the location it wasn't uncommon for disreputable clients to frequent the bar, due to this Miki spent a lot of time upstairs and away from the bar during the peak hours, the occasional sounds of violence and drunken revelry causing her to hide away further and further, after all a bar was no place for a young girl, She didn't have many friends growing up which caused her to find solace and companionship in her Teddy bear and would not be separated from it in stressful situations.

After she reached the age that most boys and girls of her age would take up the mantle of pokemon trainers, Miki chose a different path, choosing to move to her grandparents ranch on Pomace Mountain. Due to the seclusion of the area Miki found a great deal of freedom which she never had before, now she didn't get told where she had to go, or have to stay away from. This new lease on life allowed Miki to become more of a well developed person, helping out with the small community, before long she often found herself traversing the mountain ranges with some of the local rangers, under them she learnt a great deal of what it meant to be a ranger and a Pokemon trainer, even if they often teased her about her attachment to her teddy, its through them that she was given her first Pokemon in Ponyta.

As the years passed and Miki was allowed to travel further distances without a chaperone, she found a small hamlet with a wise woman, between trades of company and general errands, the Old woman taught her further folklore and knowledge, including some information in the elusive mega-evolution. It is through this information that a chance encounter with a traveling professor in Shalor who was researching Mega-Evolution's that the next step in Miki's life was to start, impressed by her knowledge and ability to traverse inhospitable terrains like the mountains, the Professor sent word to the Academy and before long a scout was dispatched to meet her. After several days of showing what she was capable of, the scout offered her a place in the Academy's Ranger program. Although she protested at first the rangers, her family, and even the old woman convinced her that it was too good an opportunity to pass up. As a parting gift Miki was given three young Pokemon from the rangers, almost as part of a tease as they were all bears! Miki then spent the rest of her time before the semester preparing for her first year at the Pokemon Academy.

Other
Likes: Nature locals, nights under the stars, quiet areas, People who give her time to warm up.
Dislikes: City centres, noisy locals, pushy people, bullies, alcohol.
Ons/Offs:
General rule, the more extreme the less concent she gives, but less concent means she doesn't get a choice right? :P

JoanieSappho

I assume the Academy would cover medical training as well? Since I have an idea for somewhere between that and Ranger.
Also, are there any elements that are entirely off limits other than the standard? For example, if a character was just a bit beyond close with her pokemon ... hard no on that, or a 'don't go into full detail' or ... ?

Idlewyld

Idlewyld

Name: Lydia St Madeleine
Home Region: Kanto
Age: 19
Gender: F
Sexuality: Bisexual

Student Details
Major: PokEconomics and Business Management

Pokemon: (Minimum of one, maximum of four)
Embra - Cyndaquil
Misyter - Fennikin
Strengths: Strong-willed. Determined. Actually quite innovative when the chips are down

Weaknesses: Spoiled beyond all human comprehension

Look/Appearance: Lydia stands about 5'6" and weighs 110 lbs. She has brown eyes and shoulder-length brown hair complete with rich-girl ringlets. She generally dresses in the latest fashions regardless of the occasion.

Student History
Personality: Lydia doesn't get along with people, as she has very little actual experience interacting with them. Most of the people she knows are her servants who have taken to giving her a wide berth along with pretty much everything she wants. Her parents have little contact with her, being little inclined to engage in something so plebeian as raising their own child (this also makes her a bit resentful, though she'd never admit it.)

Background: Biography: Lydia was born to extremely rich parents and raised in the most privileged of conditions. She was expected to take her place in high society and marry well, but her interest lay elsewhere. Namely - with pokemon. Even in her earliest years, she could be found "battling" her elegant porcelain dolls. And every time her parents or tutors attempted to draw her away from her pokehobby only deepened her fascination to the point of obsession. Probably the biggest mistake was when her indulgent parents actually bought her a pair of pokemon, hoping that the amount of effort necessary to train them would cure her of the habit once and for all. The plan failed as she took to them like a fish takes to water. Her relationship with her pokemon (at least one of them) in fact, are far better with any relationship she has with any human - a fact that has as much to do with her spoiled upbringing and overinflated estimation of self-worth as it does with her skills as a pokemon trainer both natural and acquired.

To add insult to injury, the family's attempts to keep their daughter's lower-middle class pokemon habit backfired completely. Largely prevented from battling on the estate, she continually conspired to sneak off into town to practice and develop her skills there. It was only a matter of time until she attracted the attention of one of the PTA scouts sent to the area. He apparently liked what he saw and recruited her. Lydia was thrilled. Her parents - not so much. But eventually her family gave in to the pressure - probably because she'd be somewhere far away, and they could lie about her attending finishing school somewhere in Johto to protect her (and more importantly, their) reputation.

Now at the PTA, Lydia is bound to learn a few hard lessons given her current arrogance and sense of entitlement. But underneath all that, there is a decent person waiting to be discovered, once she actually figures out how to treat people with mutual respect.

Other
Likes: Herself, being waited upon, shopping, pokemon battling
Dislikes: Not being treated according to her station, being told what to do
Ons/Offs: Lydia is generally inexperienced so most of the wilder stuff will drive her away very quickly.

And WIP of my girl. Possibly close to Silk's, but more mature and calm (and incredibly softhearted when it comes to pokemon) than young, shy and naive.

JoanieSappho

Name: Sabine Lane
Home Region: Kalos
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bisexual, leaning towards lesbian

Student Details
Major: Medicine

Pokemon: (Minimum of one, maximum of four)
Mary - Flaaffy
Tilde - Growlithe
Solaine - Marowak

Strengths: Strong-willed, extremely compassionate and very experienced in surviving on her own and caring for her pokemon. Very good control over her emotions, with one exception.

Weaknesses: Cannot stand seeing pokemon, especially hers, hurt and has forfeited battles, including some that could still have been won, rather than risk further injury to them. Has been very slow, comparatively, in progressing through her journey because of this. Her knowledge of pokemon care is very limited, confined only to the pokemon she is familiar with - Flaaffy, Growlithe, Marowak and the earlier forms of her evolved pokemon. Anything else is unknown to her. Tends to be blunt and undiplomatic when dealing with people.

Look/Appearance: Very tall, pushing six feet in height, Sabine has the body of a country girl who then spent several years wandering around the wilderness on her own. She is far from musclebound, but has developed a very well toned form, somewhat at the expense of the development of her more ... feminine assets.

Student History
Personality: Most of the time, Sabine is calm and collected, slow to angry if a bit sentimental and prone to get sniffly at rather sappy things. although she can rush when needed, outside of those moments she goes through life quite slowly, content to stop and smell the flowers both figuratively and literally. Caring to a slightly unreasonable degree she will eagerly help anyone that seems to need it, regardless of whether or not they've asked, and does tend to mother her pokemon quite a lot, almost treating them like they were her own children.
Her temper, though, does actually exist, and she has a very small amount of patience for bullies or those who harm others, whether human or pokemon, although her usual response is to go over and give them a stern talking to.

Background: The only daughter of a small family of Mareep herders, Sabine left on her pokemon journey as so many girls and boys did, accompanioneed by one of the Mareep that she had grown close to.
Usually, though, trainers either stayed close to home or did a quick - relatively speaking - lap of the local regions, typically returning home in a year or two with a few badges and several pokemon. By the end of her second year, however Sabine had obtained one badge (on her second attempt), and captured no other pokemon. Not that she especially minded. the battles with other wandering trainers and the customary wagers kept her able to support herself and her Mareep, and the two of them had quickly realised that they simply liked it out here.
Sabine's first 'capture' came during her fourth year when she found a young Growlithe pup being tormented by a Geodude. With no sign of the Growlithe's parents nearby and unable to simply leave the poor thing there as it yelp and whined and tried to hide.

As Mary lacked any real way to hurt the Geodude enough to make it back off, Sabine instead sent the Mareep around to pull the Growlithe to safety while she distracted the aggressive pokemon herself and then tended to the Growlithe's injuries as best she could, before treating herself for her own, that she had picked up from the angry rock-type.
Rushing the pup to a Pokemon Center - unwilling to risk hurting it further by carrying and jostling it, she used a pokeball - she was relieved to hear that the Growlithe would be fine and, not wanting to simply abandon her to beo on her own, let the Growlithe come with her.
And so she travelled, happily getting distracted along the way and running to help whenever she saw a pokemon or person in need.
Impressed by her willingness to help others even at her own risk and her obvious care for a pokemon, a ranger recommended her to the Academy, partly so that she would learn how to handle things properly before she got herself hurt worse than she already had been.

Other
Likes: Her pokemon, being outside, quiet places, physical work
Dislikes: Loud people, crowds, rudeness, pokemon being hurt
Ons/Offs: Fairly vanilla, monogamous and romantic. Dislikes rough and group sex, as well as being tied down.

Mr L

So i think I'm gonna go with a psychic type trainer, just need to figure out #3 for the team and what kind of stuff comes with that.

Well. Since this is becoming popular consider me also interested. ^_^

I love Unova as Black and White is one of my favorite of the series. So I will place my character from there. I was tempted to place him from Orre, due to my love for the Colosseum series. Now I just need to figure out the team I am going for.

Jolteon- Ohm
Vaporeon- Nils
Umbreon- Fritz

Strengths: Genius intellect, powerful analytic mind, strong emotional control, incredibly powerful willpower and psychic defenses

Look/Appearance:  5ft 7in 150lbs rather skinny. Long black hair tightly braided, emerald green eyes with thick glasses.

Student History
Personality: Diana comes across as cold as she almost never shows strong emotion unless a few triggers are hit. She constantly analyzes her environment and the people around her especially trainers in a battle. She can be ruthless when fighting and she is very driven toward whatever her goals are. She is not afraid to use deception in battle, or to exploit someones weakness.

Background: Diana is failed psychic from Saffron city. She comes from a very powerful, wealthy, influential psychic family in Saffron city.  She has 4 older siblings all strong psychic trainers. Diana had a very rough childhood. Her parents experimented on her before she was born attempting to create a incredibly powerful human psychic, and disappointed does not even begin to describe what they where when she couldn't eve lift a paper clip.  Diana was horribly treated by her family growing up and had her mind intruded on by her parents for years as they tried to induce a spark or finding what went wrong. This included very painful mental torture. When she became a teenager old enough to train Pokemon, they kicked her out and disowned her. Diana has a will of iron and a strong desire to tell the world to fuck off by proving she is not worthless. She has a genius level intellect and an incredibly powerful analytic mind. Due to her childhood her psychic defenses are some of the best period and any psychic foolish enough to try will get hit with a wall of supposed anger and rage that almost never shows on her face. Diana earned her way into the academy working several jobs and saving up every scrap in order to afford it.

I missed this one earlier this morning. Yes, medical training is fine! That's a good idea.

@Idlewyld: The only issue I have with it is that students are scouted and recruited for the PTA. They can't simply join. You could say she was scouted while she was out earning her badges, or if you want to work the money angle, you could say her parents paid a scout to scope her out and the scout found her acceptable. Other than that, it's all good! Accepted!

@JoanieSappho: Just list one major here. I'm assuming Medicine? Also, you listed her as having three pokemon but in the 'weakness' field you listed four, so just fix that up. Other than that, it's fine! Accepted!

@Shadowfox: No problems here! Approved! I love the trainer card!

@la dame: Looks good! Approved!

Did I miss anything?
