The Great Triangle

It is the year 1995 AD.  The world is ruled by bears.  Our ursine overlords rule with an iron fist, devastating the human race as they terrorize the cities with their jet packs and flamethrowers.  It is a golden age.  An age... for Roller Derby!

I'm interested in playing a system game in the Rifts system using an alternate setting, where the players play as the New Jersey roller derby team, getting into all manner of mischief while fighting various cyborg apes, alien tentacle monsters, and perhaps even challenging the elite ROLLER BEAR LEAGUE!

The idea is for the game to be very silly, and possibly the sort of game where kinky sex just randomly happens.  Character creation will be fairly random, though if you have a concept I might be able to compromise.

And then... my head explodes. o.O

This... looks very, very weird.  I salute your adherence to the laws of entropy, though I don't think I'd be able to make my San checks in a game like this. ^^U

The Great Triangle

Whee!  Attention!

I do mean for the game to involve very very wierd PCs.  Full conversion cyborgs, psychic furries, combat disco dancers...  I wouldn't be completely annoyed if someone wanted to play a bear slumming it up, either.  :-)

I'm in seems silly and kind of amusing.

Some details on the setting:

The bears emerged from their caves in 1962.  For seven years, a united mankind fought a long, brutal war against their common foe, only to be defeated by the superior technology of bears, in the form of their mighty chrome bear suits.  For 26 years, technology has advanced rapidly, and the bears created roller derby as an oulet for humanity.  The roller derby tournements are serious business, as the losers are selected as the nex targets for population control.

The rules of roller derby are simple.  Two teams of five start back to back, and then race to skate three laps through an obstacle filled death course.  Any methods short of mega class weapons, magic, and psionics may be used to impede the progress of the other team.  Teams judged to be cheating during a match have their skates destroyed by explosives.  Then, they are disqualified.  Aside from losing a match, there is no penalty for cheating, and cheating is rampant.  All derbyists in a normal roller derby are supposed to be humans, with medical cybernetics only.

In addition to typical roller derbies, the Roller Bear circut also includes mega derbies, where the teams are equipped with mega class weapons and armor, and ride on rocket powered motorcycle skates.  Mega weapons and armor have a power level equivelent to modern main battle tanks, and are quite frighteningly powerful.  Magic and psionics are allowed in mega derbies, but intentionally killing an opponent is grounds for disqualification.  (Mega armor is strong enough that it usually gets immobilized and totalled before the occupants are killed)

In Roller Derby, the most infamous and pervasive type of cheating is the juicer; basically an example of performance enhancing drugs gone amok.  Juicers feel no pain, and no fear.  Along with the blood clotting drugs, painkillers, and adrenal supplements they're on, Juicers are almost impervious to conventional weapons.  Though a team that obviously has a juicer on it will be disqualified, nearly every team has at least one juicer.  The most common way of dealing with juicers is to carry low end mega weapons into the roller derby, and quietly use them on those tagged as juicers.

Summoning of demons and use of illegal magic is also quite common.  Although cybernetics are technically restricted to "medically neccesary" components, there are no required medical exams, and performance is the only real measure used to determine the qualifications of the team.  Accusations of cheating are usually considered by the judges to be hypocritical and cowardly, and quite often evidence of cheating.  Fundamentally, Roller Derby is all about entertaining the judges, and cheating even more than your opponent without getting caught.

I'm not sure what I would be so many choices, but seems like it would be fun to try out.

To help decide, here's some random character tables!  (You can simply roll random, and then I can explain what it means, then you can accept the result or try something more to your liking)  Each table involves rolling a d100, then looking up the result.

Race:

01-89: Human
90-96: Near Human
96-99: Supernatural Creature
99: Giant or Dragon
00: Hybrid; roll twice, combine both

EDIT:  Attributes:

If you're rolling a human, for each attribute, you'll be rolling 3d6.  If you get a 16 or higher, roll an additional d6 and add it to your total.  If that die gets  a 6, you can keep on rolling, until you fail to get a 6.  Scores between 8 and 15 are normal, while scores of 7 or lower are poor.  A character whose attributes point towards a certain vocation should probobly pick that vocation without rolling.  (For example, a brick with a physical strength of 25 and an IQ of 5 should probobly become a warrior)

The attributes:

Intellegence Quotient

Mental Endurance

Physical Strength

Physical Prowess (combat skill)

Well just so everyone knows,  I'll be playing a nightbane.  So,  I'll be one part combat monster and one part slightly above average human.  She was a former gang member,  who joined the team mostly as an outlet for her boredom,  though she's heard rumors of Nightlords and their minions playing the games. I just hope no one manages to start the game with the arachnophobia insanity.

If I were to play, I'd be an astronaut who came from the actual Earth back in 1960, went through a timewarp, and landed in 1996.  Then, when the ursines trussed me up, I could shout:

"Get yer stinkin' paws off me, you damned dirty bears!"

;D

The Great Triangle

That's quite in theme.  You'd probobly qualify as a turbo jockey, or a soldier.
