My char has quite bit fuinjutsu techniques, but no advanced seals yet (but that is during next level up I take the advanced seals feat). My char can also produce shinobi drugs and can take 10 to several skills thanks coolhead trait :P. That's besides his medical jutsu stuff and he is quite heavily leaning to genjutsu. So perhaps you go all out taijutsu unarmed user from Hyuuga clan perhaps Vex :).

Keelan

@Vex: Never used puppets before... and honestly while I'm not unfamiliar with d20 my experience with Nd20 is comparably minimal by comparison.  The Hyuuga would be simpler I think than the other :3

Also remember I said this wasn't first-come first-serve so yeah, feel free to come up with an idea if you'd like ^_^

@Wolfy/Zaer: Just remember, you'll only start with Ice at the start IIRC; you won't get Wind/Water until 10th IIRC, and the other not until 15th or 16th... unless I've misread something...

@Zaer: No MAKING shinobi drugs; they have to be bought, and remember at game-start you are limited to Restricted items, no Military or Illegal items...

Zaer Darkwail

What I understand with the Ice affinity is that the person must have affinity to use both water and air techniques before they can use Ice techniques. I think bloodline involved gives affinity to both air and water and the ice affinity (it's kenkei genkai after all). So person would count to have affinity (naturally) to all three elements (or was it one element must be natural affinity and then take second affinity and via feat gets earlier access to Ice affinity). I will check but I am certain you can start in 8th level as ice user none the less and have 3 elements which to pick ninjutsu techniques.

Okay, so no drugs to made so I have one feat to take off then if making shinobi drugs is not allowed even if RAW I can do so. I could take advanced seals feat and pick up advanced fuinjutsu techniques (some delicious stuff there like able shut down someone's chakra flow entirely).

Keelan

oh right, I was thinking of Mokuton XD

Right, Ice, Wind, and Water it is for her ^_^

To be fair, Fuinjutsu is not the kind of thing one generally specializes in alone, and their effects often serve to enhance other specializations. In Zaraki's case, you're using it to enhance his medical jutsu, and in my theoretical case, she would be using it to enhance her puppets and crafted items, and in both cases, there would be fuinjutsu that one knows that the other likely doesn't (some seals are specifically made with medical jutsu or puppetry in mind, for instance). Crafting Weapon and Armor seals, as well as other Sealed Items, aren't as simple as knowing the techniques either, it takes quite a few feats, so even if both of them were fairly versed in fuinjutsu, I don't think there would be as much overlap as one might expect, unless you plan on spending three feats to pick those up as well.

That said, I certainly don't mind just going for the Hyuuga character. I'm just saying either one still sounds viable.  ;)

Also, thanks for the searchable technique reference! That'll definitely come in handy!  :D

Glad to hear it!

Puppets aren't too complicated, only a little more than Summoning generally is, but there's no doubt it's the more complex option. Add to it the rules for making sealed items, as well as the more mundane rules for crafting non-sealed items, weapons, armor and puppet bodies, and you can easily say that first concept I have definitely delves into more obscure rules of the book. So, if you'd rather not deal with that, I can understand. It seems Zaer prefers the Hyuuga option as well, which also delves into rather obscure rules, but much less so (not many techniques deal with tenketsu or chakra coil damage outside the Jyuuken fighting style). So, I'm thinking that's what's best to run with for everyone.

Thanks for the swift reply! I'll hopefully have a concept for you in the next day or two.  ;D

Zaer Darkwail

Indeed in fuinjutsu there is variety. Although did not spot many medical ones (just one which prevented someone doing suicide with some couple jutsus). But I redo bit my fuinjutsu picks as I get advanced seals feat and so can get more better fuinjutsu to use (one more obscure one is increase objects weight by a lot).

Wolfy

ShadowFox89

Funny thing is Wolfy, your character's background is eerily similar to Ume's, and I haven't stated it outside of the chat xD

Okay, here is Wolfy's charsheet in mythweavers (I took liberty to choose pic for his char and if he wants change pic, he can send me link for prefered image). Anycase went for trueblood human to get more chakra and also more stats as I realized with smart hero and shinobi adept combined she became very adept with genjutsu and ninjutsu, but also taijutsu (despite she has only +5 bonus to hit with weapon conjured with her most powerful technique; Kaze no Yaiba), thanks flawless form feat everytime she uses strike technique (and she has few), she gets bonus to hit and attack.

Also she gets insight bonus to hit and attack target if they use any stance. However she is far cry from melee expert and her melee skills at best can be considered as last resort or such (but still the pic inspired to give her potential for bladecraft albeit she is heavily genjutsu/ninjutsu user and she has mastered one strike style; Gatotsu). Also she got bit fuinjutsu stuff and I think senjutsu techniques need learned in-game (as no ways to learn them as there is no 'ranks' for them but nor need for perform checks). However thanks sage's wisdom she can collect natural energy and enter sage trance (simply said meditate 4 hours to get full rest benefits). Charisma is important for sages so that's why both Int and Cha are 18.

Anycase in sage side of things; she needs 12 ranks in acrobatics but in next level as elementalist she can spend 3 ranks to get it (and then in 9th level enter first level as sage). Anycase for blood pact I could not get to fit (amongst other stuff I needed to get, but again that can be taken in 9th level also and you meet requirements to get blood pact with dragons).

Edit; Oh, forgot make wealth rolls for this char :P. But Wolfy can make them as it's simple really; initial wealth bonus (which is 2d4+3) needs rolled over by profession checks (and profession has been maxed out so first level got +5 bonus in profession and if you pass it by, you get +1 from 1-5 ranks in profession and then every 5 points over it adds further +1 to wealth and once at 6 ranks profession gives +2 to wealth rolls). Add chuunin +3 wealth bonus at 6th level.

Only thing to point out about char-gen was an update that a friend put up that I forgot to mention...

For those of you concerned; Chargen has changed a bit.

It's now... 10 techniques at 1st level. 2 Techniques at 2nd. 3 techniques at 3rd. And so on and so forth. For an eighth level character, that's 45 techniques of any time.
Furthermore, any type of Adept feat (Ninjutsu Adept, Taijutsu Adept, ect.) grants you a number of techniques for that skill equal to your character level.

You can sacrifice a technique in order to get two steps of mastery.

Zaer Darkwail

Oh! Well that changes things quite a bit :P. Need adjust both sheets.

DOUBLE POST FOR FULL RULES REAFFIRMATION!!!

*: Mandatory GM Approval First

I also again remind that if you have Skype or AIM or YIM and wish to talk to me, just PM me and we can ^_^

Zaer Darkwail

Just a question; I have trouble understanding what 'skill threshold' actually means? Does it mean we have access only to powers to certain rank and every stuff which raises 'cap above' it, would raise access rank? Even some S class powers are in rank 3 (meaning in skill rank wise could get them). I have got my own idea about it but I sort want confirmation on this.

Also how genius ninja is taken account if at all on techniques (assuming it's tied to single skill than universal one).

Keelan

Ah, skill threshold:

On each jutsu there is a Perform Requirement, of which there are a number of ranks...

If you have that many ranks in the related skill, you can perform it without issue

However, if you don't, you have to roll to beat the DC that is given next to it in order to use the technique

This is to prevent a level 12 character with 0 ranks in Genjutsu from being able to use a Rank 12 genjutsu simply by virtue of level alone, for instance...

And yes: Genius Ninja is for a select skill-group, and I'd say it's another technique-per-level for the specialty in addition to the given benefits. Meaning if you have Tai Adept and Tai Genius Ninja you're getting an additional 2 jutsu in Tai per level (or mastery ranks, those too).

EDIT: Also link your sheet Zaer! :3

Zaer Darkwail

I posted my sheet in this post :P. Anycase ok, so Wolfy's char has both ninjutsu adept and genjutsu adept and genius ninja (ninjutsu).....so does it mean per level (since taking the feats) Wolfy's char gets 2 techniques at ninjutsu per level and 2 additional masteries also? While genjutsu gets only 1 technique and mastery per level devoted to genjutsu.

EvilMegaCookie

A question that I just came to think of. Do we all start as genin or is it fine if our characters are of a higher rank? Was thinking of having my character be 25 or something. Truth be told, I would find it odd if my character was still a genin at such an age, talent or not. :P

Of course, given the practice her family does, she might be given a position as a special jounin or something. Or maybe I should go for that gender-bender scenario... gah! Either way, i'll see if I can write up a backstory.

Keelan

All of them are 18 and just became chuunin was the basis for the character builds, fyi ^_^

You could have her have been trained and studying, but virginal perhaps.  That way not creepy but still decently done ^_^

EvilMegaCookie

Aight. By the way, check your PM. :P

Yeah, I was thinking that too. The real deal starts the moment she turns 18 to... get some hands-on practice so to speak.

Zaer Darkwail

Okay, I found some guideline for rankings/techniques known;

E = Academy taught or very common even wandering shinobi, meaning anyone can learn these.
D = Genin
C = Chuunin or some trump cards for Genin to pass genin exams
B = Jounin or specialist jounin techniques (you can qualify to be specialist jounin if got heavy focus to single field so you count more powerful in single field; like someone with +2 or higher skill threshold for single field + genius ninja so someone could have specialist jounin rank already with GM approval, also need know 2 elements to qualify to become jounin which is at 11th level for most but others can get via genius ninja second element early via feat or got bloodline)
A = Jounin only and also forbidden techniques (needs GM approval for chuunin to know these if any)
S = Forbidden or known to single ninja (basically rarest techniques and need GM approval to have them)

Anycase, start work on techniques both my and Wolfy's char.

Keelan

Nah, less worried about that, more concerned about them being available to you.

Chidori for instance is Rank 5, Class A; you can get it at level 5, or 4 with Genius Nin.  If you don't have the proper skill ranks to Perform it, it becomes ahrder however to use it with any consistency.

Just an fyi :3

Okay, updated both chars. My char case he got 8 extra techniques to both genjutsu and chakra control because harmony albeit not labelled as 'adept' it gives exact same benefits for chakra control. So in end got 14 masteries after buying all techniques I bought for my char so had to be more selective where masteries applied. However with our ice dragon sage I had to remove both fuinjutsu and taijutsu techniques to have room for chakra control, genjutsu and ninjutsu. But it return gave lots masteries which to use to max out several techniques (and buy couple nice high rank techniques which should warrant Wolfy's char count as ninjutsu specialist jounin, her trumph card being Sandangamae Tenshi). Here in below I repost them for easy viewing pleasure. Check techniques via using technique search engine I linked before (just copypaste the name and remove +X number after them which I indicate for mastery);

Wolfy

I like my character, and I think she'll look like this in sage mode once she obtains it:

Keelan

That would work :3

So that's 2 completed chars down... let's see if we can get a third ^_^

Oh, one thing to note Wolfy/Zaer: Is the Trueblooded race necessary?  The Low-Light Vision, Stat Boosts, and stuff is good yes, but if you went normal human that's at least 9 more possible techniques and a genuine access to more starting skill-points and higher-level techniques...

Just a thought ^_^

Hexed

@Zaer Darkwail Gah. How are you popping out the characters so fast?

Found out there's a whopping three tech for wire fighting so had to completely redo mine.  http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=311758
Slipped in Genius Ninja due to the Gloom Weaver feat that will eventually let me nab more livewire tricks. And switched to Fast Hero Paragon because the +1 defense and ranged attack was more tempting then the extra five foot movement.

And now looking at the two sheets Zaer put out I may have gone overboard trying to keep my battle wires useful.   :o

Keelan

Hehe, Zaer is able to pop sheets out VERY quickly and very well with quite the system mastery behind each crafting; do not necessarily compare yourself to him ^_^

Then there's me; I can spend literal weeks making a character, no decision done until the last minute, but when I'm done I've crafted a fully-fledged person and personality full of nuances outlooks and quirks, a character I'd call a true work of art...

Either way, gets the job done ^_^

But yeah, one thing Hexed: you forgot to combine your skills into the new grouped ones, and did you see the Jutsu update?
