"Fear No Darkness"
historical fiction or fantasy, pirates, abduction, enemies to lovers, slow burn

Alder "Peregrine" Fisk the Pirate Captain, Age 29

appearance
Long, wavy russet hair bleached by the sun, usually pulled up and out of his face, Peregrine's skin is also bronzed by an extensive amount of time spent outdoors. His eyes are a striking olive that give his features an vaguely otherworldly look, made all the more dramatic by an old, gnarled scar that stretches from just beneath his left eye to his ear. He has several more such scars littering his body, muscles taught and defined from a life of hard labor and difficulty. He's nearly the tallest of all his men, making him easy to spot in a crowd, if his penchant for wearing a ridiculous amount of piercings and jewelry didn't catch one's attention first.

personality
While Peregrine might enjoy a couple bawdy shanties and a few rowdy drinks with his men from time to time, he didn't become Captain by way of friendliness. His charming smile flutters the heart of many a maiden, but Peregrine has an infamously fiery temper with no intention of bottling any of it away. Not only can he be deadly in a fight but he's known to have a frightening cruel streak, which certainly lends itself to his success as a pirate for nearing ten years, four of which has known him as Captain. He is bullheaded and impulsive, impatient and sometimes childish, but also observant, fiercely loyal, and idealistic.

plot
When a deadly disease begins to infect the crew of The Blind Siren, Captain Peregrine makes a desperate attempt to seize a passing merchant's ship in search of medicine. YC, an apprentice physician, is quickly found out and abducted onto the pirate's ship with Peregrine's promise to return him to whatever port he likes once he treats the crew and dispels the disease. However, Peregrine takes a liking to the new doctor and instead decides to keep him aboard for good - whether YC likes it or not.

notes
while i'm looking for a very general level of historical accuracy here, i'm not going to get hung up on the details. think along the lines of 'pirates of the caribbean' and you've basically got it. also happy to take a fantasy approach to this as well, whatever that means can be up for discussion.
personality-wise, i'm looking for a character who can hold his own against Peregrine - someone to challenge him and keep his interest (wanted or not), and i definitely am NOT looking for a doormat. specifically i want someone passionate enough about medicine to agree to help a group of criminals who could slit his throat at any minute, even if it scares him shitless, and puts up a strong fight against the pirate captain who thinks of him as a new "toy." maybe YC makes an escape attempt once or twice.
eventual slow-burn, angst, all that good stuff. let me know if there's any specific kinks that you'd like to play out with this one too!
looking for a bottom or a switch, and happy to play opposite a trans or nb character (peregrine will be played as cis).

"Fool's Gold"

Emerid Gemcat the Goblin, Age 19

appearance
Emerid's natural androgyny tends to make his sex unclear though his preference is to exaggerate his more effeminate features. It's not hard to bring a patron's attention to his soft curves, flutter long black lashes over sensuous seafoam green eyes, or draw interest to full, pouting lips. He's quite short, nearly half the height of a grown human man, but that isn't what's particularly interesting about him. Between his shimmery deep green skin dappled with golden freckles and his long flexible tail, expressive and tufted at the end with soft black fur, it's clear Emerid has some sort of monster blood in his lineage. He keeps his thick black hair long and painstakingly well-groomed, usually braided or left hanging in waves around his long, drooping pointed ears. A life lived on the edge of starvation keeps his body too thin to be considered healthy, but at least his shimmering skin is camouflage enough for the darkening circles beneath his eyes. 

personality
Regulars at the Far and Away tavern know Emerid as a catty little flirt who will swindle you into too many flagons and leave you on the street, drunk and penniless. Occasionally he's known to take patrons to bed for an extra fee, but only if he favors them. He is vain, hot-tempered, big-mouthed and excessively frugal, every coin he makes squirreled away for far-off dreams while he is indentured to the owners of the tavern, and his allure and 'rarity' keeps him and the business quite popular. Emerid simply cannot resist any glittering thing— gold being his one true passion— and is not above sneaking a few extra coins or overlooked bauble from patrons unawares, not to mention indulging himself here and there in some good old-fashioned pick-pocketing and sneak-thievery on the town some nights. 

plot
When Emerid pilfers what appears to be a treasure map from an unsuspecting highwayman traveling through town after "distracting" him enough to help himself to the man's belongings, he makes the impulsive decision to leave that very same night in pursuit of it, unable to stop imagining the potential of glittering, shining, golden treasure - enough to change his life for good and get him out of that damned tavern. His lofty dreams take a turn when he follows the map... directly into:
(1) a dragon's den. Turns out the trove of treasure promised was that of a dragon's hoard, and said dragon is very much still about - and none too pleased to find a little thief in his midst. Emerid must make a deal for his life, but what could he possibly have that a dragon would want?
(2) a bandit camp. The treasure's long been gone and now the highwayman Emerid burglarized back at the Far and Away is looking for revenge. Emerid's taken captive, whether to be sold away for a few gold or kept as some sort of sick prize for the bandit leader, he doesn't know, but he refuses to be taken without a fight.
(3) an old, abandoned tower filled with ancient, magical tomes and scrolls. Perhaps a wizard once hid away here, but there's no "treasure" that Emerid can recognize (being entirely unknowledgeable in the subject of magical artifacts) and is left feeling defeated. But when he makes camp in the dilapidated tower that night, he realizes that he's not alone here. Someone or something is guarding these old dusty texts, and they're not happy he's there.

so a couple different ideas for this one! each will need a lot of developing, obviously, and i'd love to hear your plans!
(1) the dragon - totally fine with playing against either a dragon that can shift between forms (like humanoid and monster form) or one that remains in dragon form completely. i'm not totally interested in a dragon character who is friendly straight off the bat, as well, though i'd EVENTUALLY like their relationship to develop. not sure what could keep emerid from being immediately slaughtered though haha! maybe some sort of... task emerid could perform for him? we can bounce some ideas around. ;)
(2) the bandits - good with some dubcon for this one, if you're up for it. maybe emerid's passed around camp or made to be the leader's personal toy. we don't need to go the dubcon route though! maybe emerid's feisty disposition and proven stealth skills earn him some respect and a provisional spot in the group (though he's not entirely keen on being a bandit). OR, emerid and another captive work together to escape the camp. send me any ideas you have too!
(3) the wizard's tower - probably the most open-ended one. i would REALLY like a monster, but would also be good with some sort of magical being, whether it's a wizard/warlock/necromancer (whatever specialty you fancy). as for a monster, maybe some sort of construct created ages ago forced to protect the tower but never came to be defunct after its creator passed - a golem or living armor? or another monster that prizes knowledge and power above all else.
ALSO - while emerid's pronouns will always be he/him, i play him equally as either cis or trans. let me know if you have a preference for either.
emerid is a bottom/power bottom, so i'm looking for either a dominant or submissive top! and i'm kinda wanting to be relatively kink-heavy - tell me what is OFF the table, and what you'd like to see in our story (check out my ons & offs)

"Chasing Shadows"

Ivo the Shade, Age ???

appearance
Ivo makes his livelihood hidden from the public eye, so there are few who have seen him at all, much less his bare skin. He prefers to conceal much of his body with layers of black clothing to blend seamlessly into the darkness: tight-fitting leathers strapped with belts holding knives and small pouches concealed beneath a waist-long cloak that hides his slender build, long arms and legs. Even his hands are covered by black leather gloves. But most of all, his face is always obscured, not only with a dark cloth mask pulled over his nose and mouth but a wide-brimmed hat atop his head to shade his eyes - his unnatural, infernal eyes, only a silver iris in pools of black, pupil and sclera both dark as pitch. His skin, if one is lucky - or unlucky - to witness, is a sickly white-gray like that of a corpse, veins stark against translucent flesh. His shoulder length hair is kept tied back and out of his face, but is a similar silver-gray as though he were elderly, though unmasked he would appear to be only in his mid- to late thirties. His body is branded with an abundance of scars and burns from injuries old and new, a testament to his mysterious occupation.

personality
Naturally quiet and contemplative, Ivo most often prefers to listen rather than speak, but then again, he's never been much of a socialite or conversationalist. He enjoys a solitary life when he can afford it, but his work often keeps him in the cities where he's forced to endure the noise and crowds. He is abrupt and honest in ways that may not be considered socially acceptable, but also has a very dry sense of humor. In the dark circles he occupies, he is known best for his efficiency and ruthlessness,  and the particularly dangerous nature of his magical specialty as a shade - a creature, to those who are knowledgeable, borne out of the darkest magics and commands shadow and darkness. But public opinion is of little consequence for Ivo; the only loyalties he possesses is for the one giving him his orders.

plot
After a particularly thorough night at work, Ivo is feeling restless and hungry for another kind of flesh, ultimately leading him to the doorway of a high-end brothel. Rarely did he seek sexual gratification, and his intentions were far from tenderness that night, but when he drops several untarnished gemstones into the proprietor's uneasy hands, he is immediately offered what is currently the establishment's most valuable whore: a virgin, YC's first night of work in the brothel, fallen from grace from some other line of work and forced into sin and debauchery. What's more, Ivo realizes quite quickly - YC is blind, or very near to it. Ivo finds himself unexpectedly and bizarrely captivated by the little virgin whore, and his previous plan of a rough fuck suddenly turns to a desire to play, slow and steadily, instructing YC on desire and pleasure and filling the rest of the hours of the night with idle chatter. He cannot help but continue visiting YC, buying him out even for nights Ivo doesn't show, though he seems to have an aversion to being touched YC in turn. In fact, Ivo refuses to fuck YC altogether or give any reason as to why. But when his growing obsession with YC and their relationship changes into something different than whore and patron begins to affect Ivo's work, YC is unintentionally pulled into the dangerous world of killers and monsters alike.

taking a few liberties with YC for this one, i know, but there's just something about a blind whore that i'm really into right now! it's totally up to you whether he was born blind (or partially blind), or maybe it's the reason he's lost his previous employment (hosting, like a geisha? or part of some sort of religious cult?) and is forced into prostitution. i'd like someone with NO sexual experience at ALL - like not even touching himself (maybe considered disgusting or a sin in his previous life). but i'm also hoping to have YC be a bit of a fighter, someone with a bit of fire in him - maybe making their first night(s) together a struggle (which ivo would love honestly).
but while i know we'll be getting into the sexual stuff early on, i'm REALLY wanting this to be more than the sex. yes, obviously it'll be a big part of it for a while, while ivo is finding a different kind of pleasure in becoming a service top and abstaining his own physical needs, but i'd love to delve more deeply into ivo's side eventually - maybe ivo's employer orders a hit on YC to put an end to this distraction, or YC wants to escape the brothel and try to live with ivo (despite that being a horrific idea). we can work on the developments!
thinking this will be kind of a medieval fantasy-esque type of era. feel free to explore other fantasy races for YC too, if you like!
also happy to play opposite a cis or trans man. ivo will be played cis.
