Alright good to know Sushi. Just didn't want to step on any toes :P.

As far as the picture goes, I'm with Vengurd, it could be a toy by the looks of it or it could be an actual suit, either way though, it has a decent amount of detail, so good job over all :)

Emo:

So sorry it took me so long to respond to your question. Real life can be a pain that way. :)

I'm glad you're interested in our thread, and I am ofcourse happy to let you play an Elite, after you are an approved member of Elliquiy. My reasoning being that we have had several interested people come into the rp, and then suddenly disappear without saying anything. So, in order to cut down on random characters that never make another appearance, we are only accepting approved members of E.

Your character idea is very interesting though. However, your character has one major flaw. The UNSC has been at war with the Covenant for an extremely long time. Your character would most likely be found and most likely killed without a second thought by UNSC forces, if not by the other aliens of the Covenant, like the Brutes who've always hated the Elites, who don't see any use in a child. Not to mention that the Prophets pretty much indoctrinate their subordinates on a daily basis to maintain their power, and that the Sangheili race are a race of warriors with a strong belief in honor, so a stowaway is very unlikely. If anything, I would think that an Elite prisoner would kill himself to keep his honor, much like the ancient Samurai of Japan, where I'm sure some of the inspiration for the Elites was taken from.

So, here's my suggestion.

Rather than him being a stowaway and being raised with the Spartans. Why don't you have him be a full grown Sangheili warrior, who's experienced in combat and part of a rebel movement that sees the hypocrisy within the Prophet hierarchy, and wants an alliance with the UNSC. Such a thing is possible, and is alluded to, but never specifically mentioned, in several of the books, and we know for a fact that there is an alliance with the UNSC and the Elites in the Halo 3 videogame, which is about where this rp is taking place.

Maybe he could be the one to suggest the alliance and try to appropriate some good-will with the UNSC.

Please think it over, and I hope you're accepted quickly :)

EMO

Sorry about that I'm not a very patient person.
I was thinking about the same thing when I read up on the Sangheili -that's the last time I think of a race for nothing other than it's play-ability- I have considerably altered his story a and can not wait to start playing.

Vengurd

Hi there EMO. I've read all the books and played all the games <--- Your standard Halo Geek.

An interesting fact of sangellios life; The men of the keep have no idea whose child is whose, nor do the children know who their fathers are. The women of the keep have full access to the lineage however and know every little detail about the bloodlines, in fact, the lady of the keep actually guides the lineages within the keep. Gladiator is also correct about inspiration for our great, honorable foes. I own the Halo Blue-ray video. Quite fun to watch.

anyhow, I was just sharing a few bits and bragging about my dedication to the franchise (yeah it can be sad, but hey, it is fun as well).

I took another, closer look at the picture and while it does seem odd, the new knowledge that foam was used has made a considerably impact on how it looks. I can personally say that it looks real enough if it is indeed foam (I'm going to take your word for it). I haven't seen too many cosplays utilizing foam before so it was definitely a new sight.

By the way, soon as Patric can get into a medical center and hooked up, I will attempt at the very least a small post. I have been tossing around ideas and I have come to the conclusion that none of them would fit in with a badly injured, concussed Spartan II. So for now, I will continue to be on the sidelines. Just please, while I might be eager to join, try not to rush it! I'd rather a good story that leads up or happens to brush by a suitable location to get Patric going.

By the way, EMO, if you are indeed joining us, just let me say welcome, I'm sure things will get very interesting. ;)

Maelyn

Just an FYI, I'm holding off my next post since it will most likely be the one where others may respond to it - besides perhaps noting the explosion that was set off.  I'm going away tomorrow and won't be back till next Saturday, so I didn't want to post and run, so to speak.  So I'll put something together once I'm back and can respond in a more timely fashion.  :D

Sounds like a plan Maelyn, have fun on your cruise but, next time take me with you! lol :P

I hadn't picked up that only the females had access to the full lineage, interesting, though, it does make sense now that I think about it.

I'll be posting tonight for myself and puppeteering Valkyrie and since Sushi has me inspired, and I need to do so anyway, I'll be adding in some NPC characters for the sidelines that anyone can pick up.

EMO

So to join I just plop right in with an intro post?

Soo... I'm wrapping up my character bio and reading the last two pages of posts to try and get a grasp of what's going on.

I have a couple of questions though, to help me sort things in my head and get my character's story straight from the time the mission started;

1.) How long has it been since the mission started until present time in game?

2.) Could someone provide a list of the current characters in the game, what their characters are, and who's playing them?

Thanks

And a ROFL, all alone on the roof tops.

Gladiator0161

It's been about 4 or 5 days since the start of the mission, I think. I'll have to reread the entire thread to be sure but, I think that's how long it's been.

I play my name sake, a Spartan 2 by the name of Gladiator-0161, he uses the BR55 Battle Rifle, DMR, and a modified SRS99 Sniper Rifle (The one from Halo Combat Evolved).

I also play Desmonde "Sling" Rockwell, an ODST, and he uses a Mauler (basically a Brute Shotgun), Shotgun, and two pairs of Magnums (I forget the type).

Goldentouch plays Spartan "Addy" or Addelaine, Sierra 636.

Hunter Phoenix plays Spartan 435 "Hunter".

Vengurd plays Patric, Spartan 334.

Ashia Starstreak plays a Marine, Shana, and also Sergeant Jacobs and his team.

Maelyn is playing a civilian Hacker by the name of Ashley.

Av2 is playing a Spartan also, Petty Officer 3rd class, Lola- 095.

I think that's all the current players, if I left anyone out I apologize.

Maelyn

Back from my trip.  I'll try to get something up soon.  :)

Also, I suggest Gladiator put the cast of character info into the intro thread, to keep things straight.  Can also update it as people move in and out of the story, etc.

Personal History:

The eldest of three other siblings, James Bostic was born in 2515 in Dardanus, Kale on the planet Troy, located in the Hellespont System. In 2525, when James was ten, the Covenant attacked, glassing the planet of Harvest. He spent the next eight years fearful that his planet would be next and angry that he was powerless to prevent it. Hearing stories of the UNSC’s defeats as the Covenant wreaked havoc in human-controlled space, conquering and destroying mankind’s colonies, James spent the remainder of his youth preparing for the day when he could enlist and take the war to the “Covenant sons-of-bitches.”

On March 1st, 2533, the day he turned eighteen, James Nelson Bostic enlisted in the UNSC Marine Corps. He excelled as a marine, earning top honors in nearly every aspect of his training. On the recommendation of his commanding officer, James volunteered for ODST training. Only thirteen percent of his training class graduated. That was two decades ago. Since his enlistment, “Boss,” as he has affectionately been dubbed by his squad mates, has served in many UNSC battles against the Covenant, including the Fall of Reach. After countless missions mostly resulting in crushing defeats, Boss has became a very serious, hardened man who takes his job very serious. After watching all of his friends die during the course of the war at the hands of the Covenant, Boss goes out of his way not to make any new friends. That being said, he takes great pains to preserve the life of the men and women under his command.

Now, with the Covenant invasion of Earth, "Boss", along with his Platoon Sergeant, Staff Sergeant Julius "Caesar" Russell, were tasked with selecting a single squad from their platoon for a priority mission. Without hesitation, he chose Delta squad of the 66th Marine Expeditionary Unit, 6th ODST Battalion, Echo Company, 1st platoon, for the high risk mission, while the rest of the 66th MEF, along with UNSC Army forces, were sent ground side to face the brunt of Covenant ground forces.

Shortly after dropping from the UNSC Hercules, the Covenant cruiser jumped into Slipspace above the city, generating a massive EMP shockwave and disabling the SOEIV’s electronic systems. As a result, the pods were scattered and crashed in several sectors across the city.

Delta Squad so far: “Boss” was knocked unconscious after his drop pod crashed through a high school and was subsequently captured by Covenant Elites, for reasons that he can only speculate. Several hours after his crash landing, Delta squad managed to regroup and began their search in earnest, unaware that their platoon commander has been captured. They have been fighting their way through Covenant held sectors, unable to raise any other members of the operation in the process. After several days of hard fighting, they have finally picked up a very weak, lone UNSC signal being broadcast on the UNSC E-Band.

Nearly caught up. Life..never ends for me. I just need to reread the last posts from Sling and Hunter before committing to a response. If all goes well I should have my part submitted tomorrow by computer. I'll also place a mini profile of my characters for you guys to get a better feel for how they are characteristically when conversing with them. Only Shana will be given a time-line, however, for she is my main.

"A knight in shining armor is a man who has never had his metal truly tested."

Ashia Starstreak's Character Profiles

Hanes

Ryan

Smith

(not entirely sure if I'm going to keep him or discard him just yet. If I keep him I will redo him, but for now he's just generic like Hanes and Ryan)

O'Brian

Jacobs

Wasser

(I didn't know if Eridanus II had its own flag, so I just used the United Nations)

Shana Wasser's Time-Line

2506CE: Shana is born during the deactivation of the Orion Project.

2524CE: Shana joins UNSC upon discovering her baby girl needs medical attention. The United Nations has agreed to provide it upon her enlisting.

2525CE: Shana becomes a lone scout to study the alien creatures known as covenant on Harvest.

2530CE: Shana becomes a Sergeant, but her colony, Eridanus II, is destroyed.

2531CE: Devastated and angry over the loss of her family, Shana uses her emotion to help Admiral Cole make a victory over a covenant fleet at Harvest and is promoted to First Sergeant.

2535CE: When UNSC establishes "Cole Protocol" Shana is promoted to First Lieutenant and controls her own company where she meets Private Jacobs.

2537CE: With the investigation of the disappearance of Team X-Ray, Shana goes missing along with eighty-nine members of her company.

2538CE - Present: Classified.

Present: Shana is now a Private for Echo Company undergoing information leading to a group of Spartans in NYC.

Just wanted to see what big head mode might've looked like if it existed for the Halo game. ;)

Loving the profile info there Ashia :)

I got a post up, it isn't one of the best ones or the long ones because of the limited things I could do in response to previous posts, but it's good. How is everything going with everyone? I only get on here every now and then so it's good to get caught up with you all haha.

Ashia- ! Very well done ! I especially enjoyed the last image- it probably just made my day. :3

Thanks, Vengurd. I'm still tweaking it as I wait for approval and work on my first post in the meantime.

I've never played any of the games beyond Combat Evolved, so I'm basing all my weapons choices off the Halopedia site alone. I'm trying not to equip them with anything that has the era listed as "Post War" in the weapon readout, like the MA5D or the M739 LMG (which looks really sweet :(  ). I wanted my sergeant to have a UNSC equivalent to a SAW, but the only thing I could find that wasn't post-war era was the "T ", or MMG variant of the M247 HMG. I'm also trying to take into account that they are ODST, so they'll need to travel as light as possible (like the modern day Airborne). But since their original mission was to board and commandeer a Covenant Cruiser,  they'll also need to maximize their firepower for all possible combat contingencies, hence some of the heavy weaponry. They'll also need to have the ability to maximize their stealth, hence the M7S Submachine guns instead of the MA5 series of assault rifles. I made up a couple of the grenade M-designations, since there were none listed for the concussion (which I designated as M7) or the napalm grenades (which I designated as M13)... I hope that is okay.

I probably could have gotten away with a slightly larger helmet, but I thought it'd be silly to draw it. Shana being so much smaller than a Spartan and all. I'm glad you guys liked my profiling though. I am missing one deceased marine and I've decided that I may keep Smith. I was aimlessly looking on google and came across a goodlooking boy so I turned him into a cartoon and my kin slapped a first name and where he should be from to finish it off. "..really?"  "Yeah." "Haha, alright, definitely not what I was thinkin' but I like it..done. Latigo Smith from New Zealand..curious..why that?"  "I dunno, was a character in a movie I saw." Now I'm wondering what movie.

I got a new laptop. 'Bout time I retired my old one from 2006. Still no internet at the house, but this new toy is proving to be quite entertaining. Feel quite fancy with this touch screen. I draw on ms paint, so I got it to see how I'd fair drawing directly on the screen without the use of my mouse. Faster, but sloppy.

Bought that Halo 4 movie; Forward Unto Dawn. I liked it, but it ended too quickly. Almost as if it were rushed. Graphics were awesome, story was too fast. I want that warthog. Who needs that truck they're planning on giving away (some halo sweepstakes), when there's a freaking warthog in that movie.

"A knight in shining armor is a man who has never had his metal truly tested."

Vengurd

ODSTs' primarily use Battle Rifles in-game throughout the series with the occasional assault rifle here or there. As Orbital Ordnance, they are primarily a tactical resource, not the main force pushing the assault, so think specialized groups, either large or small. From what I have seen, it so far looks good.

Ashia, you could just get on 343 industries and watch the mini-series Forward Unto Dawn. From what you said it seems like they took a few episodes and put them into a movie format, or intend on releasing the episodes for sale for general viewing.

I used the M739 and broke canon anyway, so >_>

It's a logical weapon that was missing from the Halo weapons anyway. I mean, why wouldn't they have squad-level machine guns? They'd probably have one every four to seven guys, dropped in ordnance pods or with the HEVs.

I believe the MA5s can be suppressed, but I guess you could carry M7S SMGs on top of anything else you have just in case. They also have suppressed Magnum pistols.

Just for reference, concussion grenades historically have been called Mk number letter number. Like the Mk3A2 grenade we used since WW2. And incendiary grenades are usually AN something, like the AN-M14 Thermite grenades. So, if you want that extra level of realism, you can extrapolate from our existing designation system.

Just to be clear... I wasn't trying to call anyone out with my last post. If it came across that way, I apologize. I honestly hadn't even noticed that anyone was using the M739. I was merely using, as an example, the two weapons that I had really looked at wanting to use but shied away from since they were listed as "Post-War" era weapons. If Gladiator signs off on their use, then I'll certainly be switching over to a couple of post-war era weapons for my ODSTs. But I agree with you on the logic of the need for a SAW. They have them today, and from what I've seen, humanity's weapons of the Halo universe haven't changed a hole hell of a lot by the 26th century.

Hmm... well, I would think that just about any of the assault rifles could be suppressed as well but didn't want to go against the info I could find on the Halopedia site. So, again, if Gladiator signs off on this, a few of my ODSTs will be carrying suppressed MA5's, probably the D variants.

Oh, thank you. I don't know why I didn't think to look at real world, historical counterparts for this. I'm usually really good at researching these things... and yes, I do enjoy as much realism as possible. So, I'll be making adjustments there, with Gladiator's permission, of course.

I find it helpful that most of the people here know a lot about guns and halo. Both are a pathetically easy turn on for me. Start talking classic muscle cars, and it will get my mind frame banned from the pg-13 area ;)

I do have a question that has nothing to do with yer topics. I bought a Walther P22. It's so cute ^-^! My question: you think it can shoot cci bullets? Haven't gone back to the shop to look into it yet so I'm just curious.

Though a while back I recall wanting a rugar bearcat and I end up with a handgun..still a couple revolvers would look good with my decor.

"A knight in shining armor is a man who has never had his metal truly tested."

Michael Corvus

Yes, a Walther P22 can fire CCI bullets. CCI Stinger ammo seems to earn top marks for the P22 from what I've read, but the CCI Velociter and Mini-Mag (rounded) perform great as well. A few notes regarding Walther P22 ammo:

Quality
When you're talking about .22 long-rifle ammunition, there's no reason to be stingy. The price difference between the best and the worst ammo usually isn't more than $5 per 100 rounds. Quality ammunition is consistent and… well, high quality. Don't skimp on rounds and your Walther will repay you with problem-free shooting enjoyment.

Heavy Grain Bullets
The heavier the bullet, the better. 40-grain lead is optimal, but I've used lead as light as 30-grain without issue.

High Velocity / Lots of Powder
Rounds rated at 1200 FPS or greater are ideal for the Walther P22. Subsonic rounds will cause frequent feeding and chambering problems. More powder equals more cleaning, but many of the best performers listed in the table below leave behind minimal residue.

But don't take my word for it:  http://www.spentbrass.com/pistol/walther/p22/ammo.php

P.S. I love my SKS, M1 Garand, and my AR-15.  ;D Now I would love to get my hands on a quality M1911   ::)

ZOMG more gun talk! Makes my head hurt after everything I just read, lmao.

I am honestly loving everything I've been reading, it's awesome how much work you guys are putting into this! I seriously have the best team of writers I could ask for on here.

Love the bio MC (Micheal Corvus) and I'm very impressed. Gladiator APPROVES. I have to be honest though, your making me jealous with all the names, mission call signs, and actors you've assigned to your ODST squad, lol :P

I need to come up with a name for Gladiator but, I'm stumped. Nothing I've thought of sounds right.

I'm doing great currently, thanks for asking Hunter :D

Had a couple days where I was sick but, I got over it relatively quick, and had an awesome weekend! I got to get out of town and hang out with a good group of friends. I also got to play Mario Brothers Wii for the first time yesterday which was a kick. I want that game now, lol.

In other news, lol, MC PM'ed me about COMS and I suddenly realized that I had not put all that info on here, so here it is.

I've been using TEAMCOM in my posts for general chatter between players when they don't want to be heard outside of their helmet (otherwise I've had my character switch to audio for public use) but, obviously the farther you are from the team with the jammers around, the less effective it is. I hadn't thought about using SQUADCOM, TACCOM, FLEETCOM, or HIGHCOM, though, I do remember those being in the books, and I can't think of any reason why our characters wouldn't be able to make use of them, so go ahead and use them. Obviously with the jammers in the New York area, HIGHCOM, FLEETCOM, SATCOM would be unusable. The Emergency channel com (E-Band) though since it has such a tight bandwidth will be able to be used but, it'll cut in and out.

I've never heard of an OPSCOM though, and while I don't doubt that the UNSC has the capabilities to set up coms specific for each operation, I can't see them doing it basically because it'd be getting in the way of things, and making things more difficult. So, I'm gonna leave that one out just to make things a little simpler.

TACCOM though is interesting, it's not really a communications channel, it's more like email, you can send images and audio files through to each team members HUD. Because I think the Covenant would just be after disabling UNSC communications, I'm gonna leave the TACCOM usable because I think they probably wouldn't know what that was, even if their equipment detected it because it's not set up as a communique. Why it wouldn't be blocked just in case though, I can't answer, lol. Idk, lemme know what you guys think about that.

For a more elaborate definition of the different COMS, please see the first page of this OOC thread as I've been updating the info on it :D

Oh, and btw, I'm abandoning the cannon timelined weapons rule, I wanna play with a SAW, lol. So, all models of weaponry will be available for use but, they will be prototype weapons if they are from the Halo 4 video game, and prone to malfunctions.
