a new idea:

In an effort to reduce costs and enhance effectiveness at the same time, the police are trying out a new kind of witness protection program mainly targeted at male witnesses and males threatened by criminals still at large. However the program is not for everybody as it requires them to crossdress, adapt false names and go through vocal training to achieve a nearly female voice upon will. There will still be officers present at the housing complex where they live however the amount of officers required for protection is vastly reduced and the officers are not in uniform to not awaken suspicions from outside. Yet there is still the risk of being discovered, even though it is unlikely. Will the witnesses be able to stay safe? And will friendships or even closer bonds form? Will the police take advantage of a vulnerable population?

The housing complex: A housing complex in a less busy area. It has apartments for up to 30 people. If the participants of the witness protection program wish, they can share apartments with another within the program. The housing complex has a fitness room, a reception desk (usually occupied by an officer who is not in uniform at any given time) and a small central courtyard with a small garden, a bench, a vending machine for drinks and a vending machine for instant lunches. If people intend to stay out for more than eight hours, they must fill out a form at the reception desk stating their intention, destination and intended time out. If they surpass this time and don't come back within an hour after they expected return time, the police will be on the lookout for them in case they have run into trouble.

The witnesses are also offered employment options at the complex and at a nearby police branch as an undercover informant--they can take advantage of the situation or be a good employee for the state, the choice is theirs to make.
