Everyone loves a good game of Dungeons and Dragons every now and again.  You likely even know a guy or gal that has all of the rule books, has memorized every class, every spell, demon, monster, and fey creature to ever cross a board.  There's probably a reason they're also still a virgin, but that's something else entirely.  Point is, for whatever gods forsaken reason, you finally break and decide to give it a shot after being pestered for weeks on end by this friend or sibling or whatever.  So you roll up your stats, you make an honest effort to make your new fantasy avatar even remotely interesting, and for your first time out, you did a pretty good job.  Your spells are loaded, you're armed up with your new axe, bow, daggers, or perhaps you went with the know it all sorcerer.  Perhaps you even decided to go full on drag and switched your gender, knowing full well you're going to have to somehow make yourself sound like a girl because your pest of a GM wants you to RP your character you've created for what they promise will be a magical experience.

Well...they were right, but not in the way they were thinking.  It turns out the gods exist, and they have a sense of humor.  Well, one of then does if you happen to remember a certain part from the long ass lecture about the pantheon you were given pre game that you paid only half a mind to at the time, if that.  Trouble is, for whatever reason, not only are you taken from your world and dropped into the one your GM had chosen for you and your friends to get their first taste, for those just starting out, of DnD goodness, but you realize to your utter shock that you have become your avatar that you just got done telling the group about.  The rest of your party has also suffered the same impossible transformation, and you're all understandably freaked out as your cooked up fantasy has now become your new reality.  You're now a resident of this world you helped either create, or you used a premade version for your first adventure.  Either way, trying to convince the locals you don't belong here proves fruitless because they don't know what in the Nine Hells you're talking about, and more than a few begin giving you uncomfortably strange looks, as if concerned this group of adventurers were possessed of dark, crazed entity, or under some kind of spell.

Eventually you calm down, take stock of what you have on your person, and decide to settle in for a very long campaign.  Welcome to the world of dragons, necromancers, sword fighting, drama, action, and the occasional stop at the local brothels, because you thought why not, and thought it'd be hilarious if your friend failed a 'performance' roll.  Welcome to your new home, adventurers.  So......

How do you want to do this?

After watching a Critical Role one shot called Liam's Quest over on Geek and Sundry, and laughing so hard I about peed on myself, I had this bit of inspiration hit me like a Bigby's Hand to the face.  Jokes aside, the idea's pretty simple, you and a group of people, say about six or eight tops, are either wrangled into playing their first game or are a returning veteran.  Whatever the case might be, you not only end up becoming your character, but you end up inside the world your GM had picked for what should have been a simple adventure just to get the newbs acquainted with how things were done.  From there, things understandably go tits up as your fantasy becomes your new home for the foreseeable future.

What I'm hoping to create is a story, absolutely rich in plot and character development and world building galore.  So, expect a long game if things go as planned.  As such, I'll try to get a world building thread going tomorrow, and once we get enough interest together, we can start plotting out either a world of our own, just using sources from any and all DnD related stuff, or using a world already created, whatever we end up doing I'd rather this be a group effort though.  But I don't want a Champions of Corruption knock off, basically while sex is entirely possible and even encouraged along the way when it's advisable, IT WILL NOT BE THE FOCUS!  I do have ideas of my own regardless of what we end up doing, but I'd rather stick to swords, sorcery, and dungeon exploring types of worlds over too much tech floating around out there.  I do love the gunslinger stuff that Talisen uses so well as Percy during Critical Role episodes though, so simple firearms and magically charged electro shock gauntlets are perfectly reasonable, so long as you invest the time to master your tinkering of course.

Despite all this talk of DnD and classes and stuff, I won't be making this a system game.  Someone else far more knowledgeable than me would have to run this if that becomes a thing, so expect freeform with everything, but my only caveat is that everything you use to create a character has to have come from some referential source.  Meaning if you're playing a duel wielding spell slinging knight, you better have a link to your class information in your profile sheet.  And because sex is a thing, books like The Book of Erotic Fantasy from the 3.5 era are totally cool.  I'm pretty sure you can find it for free online still, but again it's not the focus, just a suggestion if you want a cleric that's more...hands on than most when it comes to making you feel better after a tough fight lol.  I'm sure there are other books like that out there, that's just the one I have on my hard drive.

As you've likely noticed by now, this has more than ample room to be hilarious if not outright cringe worthy at times, especially since you all are playing the roles of your characters where before you were your typical seniors in high school to college graduates.  None of your cellphones, PDAs, or anything not part of your character will make the trip, so don't expect to pull out a pack of flares and a flare gun or whatever from your travel pack or bag of holding or whatever you use to carry your crap in lol.  As for character sheets themselves, again, I'm not going to run a system, but I am going to ask that you use real face claims for your character before you were transformed and dropped into this world, but you can use any anime or art work you find to create your more fantasy side.  Again, classes must be able to be referenced, home brewed or otherwise, if you can't link it, you can't play it, and because you'd start at level one, no multi classes or prestige classes either...yet.  That will come along as we progress through the story however, consider it natural growth for good RP behavior and an honest effort to keep the story going.

Anyway, I am going to be looking for a couple of Co-GMs because one, I haven't ran a group game for a long time, and two, I'm going to be heading to a summer camp thing in a couple weeks, so I don't want you guys to have to wait for me to come back before we can start moving again.  I'll only be gone a week, but I won't have Wi-Fi access where I'm going, hence my concern.  So yeah, two Co-GMs would be ever so helpful to me, but I'll be happy with one and a handful of players, let alone six or eight people lol.

Anyways, I've rambled on long enough, let's see what comes from this late night insanity lol.

I'll get a character sheet together when it's not one in the morning.  For now, interest first.

'Real character information'

Name:
Age:
Gender:
Appearance:  Height, weight, what they prefer to wear when not getting sucked into a fantasy world, eye color, hair style, whatever you deem appropriate.
Personality:
Hobbies:  Beyond D&D, for those that weren't driven nuts by a friend or sibling to play together, what else were you into?
Skills:  While you're going to be taking the form of your characters and getting their powers and abilities, some of it might cross over to your character since it's still you in there.  As such, only three approved skills will be allowed.
Background:  With the advent of Roll20 and other means to play D&D online, it's not necessary to be physically at the table to play.  That said, I'd prefer at least a few of the 'group' to have known each other beforehand for whatever reason.  Either siblings or friends or whatever works for ya.
Ons:  While this is more what your player is into, it's also the usual on/off section so feel free to put what you want and what you'd avoid like the plague.

D&D character information

Name:
Age:
Gender:
Alignment:  There's a difference from being morally ambiguous, and being a complete jerk bent on taking over the world.  So long as you can play nice, I'll allow Evils of any alignment, but I'd rather you were more Neutrals before jumping towards Evils.
Race:
Racial Traits:  Some races are naturally gifted with unique features such as seeing in the dark or having resistance to cold, etc.  Do the best you can, not required, but it's helpful to have.
Class:  What you are from a professional standpoint.  This makes up the bulk of your character, and cannot be changed, so choose wisely.  (And try to avoid repeats as much as possible.)
Link for Class:  Self explanatory, not negotiable
Deities worshipped:  For clerics, paladins, and other religious based classes, this is required, but you don't have to draw your power from the divine to worship a god or two.  Must also fit your alignment, but there's a god or goddess for pretty much everything out there.  Please include a basic summary of what they're known for, their domains, anything you deem appropriate.  (A link can work just as well, up to you though.)
Appearance
Personality:
Hobbies:  Hobbies don't have to go hand in hand with your class. You can be a rogue who likes to draw or write books like your typical bard.  (Some overlap is totally fine if it works in the more fantasy setting
Skills:  Skills however generally do go hand in hand with your class.  So long as they fit your class, I won't be so stringent, but no one is good at everything.
Background
Ons:  Overlap is expected, but maybe your character is into stuff you aren't?

Lol I'm happy to see my late night insanity drew in a few potential victims, err I mean players.  And yes, if done right, I'm expecting a few laughs along the way lol.

Drow, orc, halfling, gnome, wood elf, human, so long as it's not too crazy and humanoid I don't have a problem with most races that are out there.  Basically, feel free to go absolutely nuts lol.

Lol happy to have you Loina.

Character sheets are live.  Grab both of them if you guys would and don't worry about the background information for your fantasy side just yet.  We haven't gotten a world together yet, but class, races, stuff like that is pretty universal so go ahead and start thinking about that stuff at the very least.

This sounds incredible! I've always wanted to know what it's like to be the insufferable min-maxing munchkin, and seein all the conflicting emotions and wants a person like that would have once becoming their power fantasy would be just delicious.
Count me very interested!
Hello! I'm Big_Honk. I like complex characters and pretty words. I hope we can get along!

Vergil1989

Lol glad to hear it Big Honk.  Feel free to grab a sheet and start making a character.

Okay folks, I'm currently looking for a good D&D world map, either official or home brewed, but if you have a preference one way or the other, speak now or forever hold your piece.  If enough people say homebrew we'll just make up our own world as we go along and what have you, using whatever map we can find to have a visual aid, but if it's an official setting, we'll still do our own thing, but it'll just be within the world already established.  Sound good?

Big Honk

I'm honestly not sure what sounds more tempting.
Being trapped in an established setting has the geek appeal of actually being there. The more experienced players would have more meta knowledge of the setting, and know how it ticks, perhaps even in ways that the inhabitants aren't aware of.
On the other hand, Homebrew could mean personally going to the GM's magical realm... And I can think of few things more terrifying.

Both have pros and cons, and would suit different kind of games. Seeing as I'm poorly versed in D&D lore, I feel tempted to say Homebrew.
Hello! I'm Big_Honk. I like complex characters and pretty words. I hope we can get along!

Vergil1989

There's gonna be meta knowledge no matter what since the gods and races are the same no matter what world we happen to be in, unless specifically stated somewhere such and such died out for this reason, or in the case of Mystra, the goddess of magic, she was assassinated by a fellow, evil god, and magic therefore ceased to function like it used to which caused a world altering event called the Spellplague.  Long story, but overall, some things will just be assumed already known is all I'm saying, but I get what you're saying as well Honk.  So one for Homebrew, alright, thanks!

I don't have a preference as far as the setting goes.  I'm just looking forward to building the most ridiculous, hodgepodge character with everything awesome possible, whether they're practical or useful or not, just because my quirky nerd girl, who has never played D&D, was just going through all the books and grabbing everything that caught her eye.

-snickers.-  I'm super excited for this.

Well, my two favorite settings are Dragonlance and Eberron... but both are pretty specialized and kinda need people to be rather invested in the lore of the settings and blah blah blah.

There's always this world:

Vergil1989

LMAO thank you for that Chulanowa.  I know only a little about Dragonlance, and Eberron I only know the name, so yeah, I doubt we'd go that way anyway unless we get a lot more people voting for either of 'em for something more 'official'.  Lol but that map is hilarious.  Poncy Knight, Alien Egyptians, So Not Atlantis, did you make this yourself or did you find it online somewhere?  Either way, I had a good laugh lol.

The late King of the Goblins unfortunately, but yeah, nice little list of titles for one of the greatest actors of our time.  Still an awesome avatar though.  ;D

That fantasy map is amazing for creating so many different settings. It has everything you need from a generic fantasy world ;D I vote homebrew too.

I think my chara's character will be Aladin the Paladin. A supposedly chaotic good goody good paladin of justice. Maybe dragonborn or warforged, though might go with some funnier race since we're freeforming and stats for once won't matter in a D&D :P I'm thinking of making my chara's real self be a small and shy somewhat feminine guy with some strange hobbies.

Is he related to Madeline the Paladin, or her friend Derek the Cleric?  ;D

I'm not sure where I'm headed with this. Sooo many options!

This idea could be hilarious and fun, keeping an eye on it to see if anything springs to mind for a character.

Vergil1989

I've never seen that comic before either lol.  That was kinda funny though, might have to check out more about it in the future.  That map is indeed amazing, but it already has names and stuff on it so using it here wouldn't be an option.  Well, let me rephrase that, it has names and stuff I wouldn't use for at least a partially serious game lol.  This might be open to comedy, but I'm still kinda treating it as a serious game of D&D, if that makes sense.  As for characters, I'm one of those that creates a character I can stand to look at for weeks on end, that's just me though.  And since you're going to be inhabiting your characters for the foreseeable future...you might want to take that into consideration.

I've only recently came across the Warforged.  They're quite unique, I'll give you that, but not entirely sure if I'd classify it as humanoid or magical construct or a bit of both.  Meh, if you think you can live with it if you do decide to go that way, more power to ya Sain.  Anyway, I'll stop rambling, promise lol.

My question still stands for everyone else that hasn't voted yet.  Homebrew or official.

Vergil1989

Since it seems we're gonna go Homebrew, I'll start getting a world put together, but we'll be starting in a small town in the middle of nowhere, which is normally how these things begin anyway.  :P  Seriously though, if I wait too long for people to respond to vote and such, what interest we have for this will likely dry up if it hasn't already.  I'm still looking for Co-GMs by the way, if anyone wants to give a hand, feel free to throw your interest out there to help keep the plot going and such while I'm out of Wi-Fi range in about eight days, nine tops if I remember correctly.  I'll only be gone a week, and while I realize this is ill timed to start a game, I'll be back before you know it.  ;D  Anyway, keep working on character sheets, keep talking to each other if you aren't already, and expect a World Building thread to pop up soon.  Hopefully soon there'll be at least a basic thing for the world ready to go, but feel free to throw ideas my way until I get two other people to help me out with this.  I'm not going to be making a character myself though so I'm able to keep an impartial view of everything, and I think I might make that a requirement for my Co-GMs, unless they honestly think they can do both without metagaming the hell out of this lol.

Also, I have a thing for anyone looking for Faceclaims.  A friend of mine has a thread in the Finders/Seekers thread where he and a friend of his own will go after real pictures for all of our character needs from what I've seen.  He had an old one, but he started a new one because his old one was pretty big or something, not sure truth be told, only that he asked me to spread the word about as a favor, and since I was asking for Faceclaims anyway, it seemed pretty reasonable to throw his link here for anyone needing a bit of help finding a good picture.  Anyway, here ya go folks.  ;D

Anyone want to volunteer to be the "veteran" player who helped my poor newb put together her character sheet?

Chulanowa

Well, I still dunno about the Fantasy character, but i've got my player character-character down. Anyone interested in being the person who lured this dork into a basement full of dice and books?

Name: Hunter Whittleby
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Appearance:  Hunter is about five-eight, of completely average build. His dark blonde hair is too long to be neat, but too short to "do something with" so he usually just crams it under a hat of some sort - Yes, even indoors. It still ends up hanging into his blue eyes, though.  Like most guys his age, he dresses for comfort- jeans, T-shirt, sneakers, that sort of thing. Though he's 17, he still has a bit of gangly awkwardness and a slight case of baby-face. After a failed experiment with a mustache two months ago, he keeps himself smooth-shaved.
Personality: Hunter's not a dumb guy, but he does sort of have trouble paying attention to things. Easily distracted, maybe a little bit of a himbo. Some of that is the smoking, most of it is just him being 17. At the table, he's the guy who forgets what bonuses go to where, and is most likely to lose his character sheet. Fortunately he's fully aware of this failing and jokes it off when it comes up. He's an easy-going, likable young man (or at least, he tries to be.) Funny thing is, he's great around girls... until he figures out they're even slightly interested in him, then he tries too hard. He is unaware of this. Despite his native tendency towards s\slacking, he's more than willing to pitch in to help a friend, or even a friend of a friend.
Hobbies:  Hunter's not really what most would call a "nerd" - Sure he likes video games, but who doesn't? Big epic superhero and fantasy movies? Same thing! And he actually opened all of his action figures and has read several comic books until they fall apart, so that disqualifies him. His major hobbies thus far have revolved around pwning noobs on the PS4, slacking (and smoking) with his buddies, and the occasional skateboard-assisted blunt trauma to himself. Though you'd never guess it from looking at him, Hunter actually has a pretty deep interest in archaeology; He's the only person in his circle of friends who can pronounce "Tenochtitlan" without effort. Tabletop gaming is a new venture for him, and he is so far from being a grognard it hurts. "Can I have a mountain dew?!" indeed.
Skills:  If there is a task that only requires movement of one's thumbs, Hunter is an A-class expert. Besides that, he's pretty good at making repairs to things; Fixing his own bike and learning to fix cars for when he gets one. Dad's an electrician too, so that helps. He's excellent with animals, and as mentioned has a very good knowledge of ancient civilizations and the sciences of that particular field (all "book learning" so far.) Despite being a bit of a ditz he actually has excellent people skills. Unless he starts trying to have people skills, then it's all like "hey, I see you've got a bucket of chicken too..."
Background:  Hunter's a middle child to working parents. Safe and secure in the middle class, public school, suburbia... No great big tragedies have stricken him, nor any great events. He is almost painfully, stereotypically average. he even pulls a C+ in almost all of his subjects. He has a rough relationship with his older brother, who's something of a jerkass and has made it clear he can "do better" than his parents or siblings. On the other hand Hunter gets along great with his little sister, Madelyn.  The major conflict points, aside from his brother (who's moved out anyway) is his weed smoking. His parents suspect, but haven't found anything, but they are very adamant that they do not approve one little bit. This extends to his circle of friends, whom his folks tend to see as losers and slackers (well, they're right on that last part.) Weirdly enough they aren't bothered by his joining a group to play D&D - at least they know where he is and as it turns out, dad played when he was young (And has tried to connect with Hunter through tales of his exploits at the Keep on the Borderlands and White Plume Mountain (So awkward.) Currently, Hunter's apprenticing at a local mechanic's shop.
Ons:  Sounds crazy, but Hunter is still a virgin. Pretty much any sexual encounter would be an "on" for him, really. if you were to ask him, he'd turn really bright red and mumble something about getting a blowjob. Vanilla stuff.
Offs: Again, pretty vanilla. In the day and age of the internet, it's really easy to find stuff you're not into. Hard offs are your usual toilet stuff, pain and blood, that sort of thing. While not strictly an "off" he doesn't understand the appeal of several things - BDSM for instance just seems uninteresting to him. Common hentai tropes like ridiculous breasts (and attendant jiggle physics) and tentacle porn are also a pass for him.

My character can totally drag him along, being all 'Oh my god, you gotta come play this game with me!  It's so cool, there's like dragons and dungeons and swords and magic!'

LMAO that's awesome.  Seriously, I love the first character already Chul.  He's approved, now for the other half and this SHOULD help with that.

Well, since no one else has posted in the slightest since their initial interest, I'm pretty sure there's plenty of room to be had Gjevv.  As for you Silk, I need at least two assistants, so yeah, if you're confident you can handle it, I don't mind taking you on as a Co-GM.

Me either, most of my knowledge comes from a lot of old books, both game related, and just R.A. Salvatore stuff from the Legend of Drizzt series, but it pretty much ensured I'd be a nerd for life lol.  But yes, goa ahead and grab a sheet, and check out the world building thread as well.  I'm willing to take ideas for the group's mutual enjoyment and such, to expand upon the world together rather than my GM support and myself doing all of it ourselves.

Well this is far more freeform than system for one, as for who is actually here in terms of players, that is a good question.  The original group haven't posted much of anything since their initial interest, but I've gotten a couple of new folk and a Co-GM.  So at the moment, at least two, not counting my assistant GM.

Added more to the World Building thread.  Will probably get an OOC up once people get their characters started here.  Will also get a character thread to store them in of course lol.  The known enemies I've listed by the way, the ice dragon calling together an army, necromancers hiding in Zakar, etc, there won't be any particular order to defeat them in, and while I'm all for taking suggestions, each big bad that's defeated will make the next one that much harder.  Just as a general rule lol.

Big Honk

I've been wondering about what the tone of this game is gonna be. I've been having a solid think these past couple days and think I got two different concepts. One is more dramatic/serious - a boy with a ridiculous ego and constant need for validation always creates grimderp power fantasy characters as part of his masculine ideal. Becoming that ideal won't work out very well though, and the resulting emasculation is hilarious.
The other is more goofy, but has potential - an old, embittered veteran who usually creates asshole characters is forced into making a fluffy, Lawful Good healer - perhaps even of the opposite sex. He'll either learn from the experience in a heartwarming fashion, or commit OOC suicide.

So I'm wondering what the tone of the game was going to be, to help me decide between the two, as I'm feeling rather torn! Is it a dark or light comedy? How much room is there for "serious" stuff? Or just which of the two ideas strike your fancy more?
Hello! I'm Big_Honk. I like complex characters and pretty words. I hope we can get along!
:)))))

Vergil1989

Lol despite the somewhat serious tone of the World Building Thread thus far that I have linked in the first post by the way, for those having trouble finding it, there is indeed room for a lot of comedy.  This is more Critical Role than World of Darkness lol.  Meaning there's plenty of space for hilarity to ensue, but there IS going to be emotional stuff, things to keep the story interesting and riveting, or so I hope to accomplish anyway.  ;D  But I personally love your second idea Honk, but it's your choice of course.  That and while i hope you don't commit OOC suicide, lol, if it happens it happens.  Besides, we need a good healer anyway, since I don't think anyone else has volunteered for the job.  ;D

You're fine, but I was kinda worried everyone had gone POOF on me lol.  Thanks for letting me know though Aribeth.  ;D

Also, tieflings?  They're awesome.  Tieflings with powerful, demonic magic behind them?  EPIC!  Zahra Hydras, as seen in Critical Role, pretty much assures I'll never piss off a tiefling warlock? EVER lol.  Jokes aside, if someone goes full tiefling badass, I'd love you for life, but that's just more of a personal preference than anything required, so don't worry about that.  ;D  You wouldn't get anything extra, I'd just have a perpetual admiration and probably slight terrified induced arousal going for your gal lol.

Vergil1989

The short story?  Tieflings are demonic halfbreeds if I recall correctly.

Tieflings were human-based planetouched, native outsiders that were infused with the touch of the fiendish planes, most often through descent from fiends—demons, devils, evil deities, and others who had bred with humans.[2] Tieflings were known for their cunning and personal allure, which made them excellent deceivers as well as inspiring leaders when prejudices were laid aside.[3]

Although their evil ancestors could be many generations removed, the taint lingered. Unlike half-fiends, tieflings were not predisposed to evil alignments and varied in alignment nearly as widely as full humans, though tieflings were certainly devious.[4] The celestial counterparts of tieflings were called aasimar.

That's right from the Forgotten Realms wiki, so I was half right, sort of lol.  But yeah, they're pretty powerful and while they might not be trusted exactly, they can be quite the force for good and the only thing between defeat and victory.

Lilith, her cousin?, and Zahra, she's the one on the right.

Vergil1989

We'll be happy to have you.  If everyone who has posted interest follows through, then we SHOULD have a full group, but at the very least we have six, not counting Co-GMs, so that's still enough for me to be quite happy.  But yeah, I think you'd be the last one or near enough that we could very easily get started, although I AM gonna be out of Wi-Fi range in a few days as I've said a few times before.  So as long as this game isn't forgotten and interest dries up, we'll likely get started properly after I get back from Camp Horizon.  If we get started beforehand though, I'll likely have my assistant(s) just offer the occasional monster fight and just encourage you guys to adapt to your new situations, interpersonal stuff, things like that.  So while the main story might not get going, there'll be plenty of time for you folks to do other stuff.

Lol sorry, rant over.  Tired and writing do not go well together.

Name:  Emma Jane "EmJay" Larson
Age: 19
Gender: Female

Appearance:  EmJay is a short, chubby-cheeked, slightly buck-toothed powerhouse with dark blonde hair and big, wonder-sparkle blue eyes.  She stands about 5'4", and doesn't look like she could physically overpower a feeble ferret if required to do so.  Still, once you meet her, she exudes so much energy and vitality, that one suspects she could easily outlast any opponent and leave them wheezing on the mat while she ran off to climb a mountain or wrestle an alligator.  Her style is...unique, and she seems to draw a lot of inspiration from Japanese street fashions, or that is the most generous assessment of her Mickey Mouse buns, wild mixture of patterns, extreme love of overalls, and odd sock and shoe combinations.  Those less than generous, just ask if she got dressed in the dark, or let a toddler pick out her clothes.  Still, her quirky style and miniscule size hasn't harmed her self-confidence any and she tends to walk into rooms as if she owned the place.

Personality:  EmJay once had a beautiful crop, one she tended lovingly and nurtured with an almost obsessive care.  Then, just before the fruits of her labor were ripe, a storm raged through her fields, and whatever remains were left behind were devoured by a plague of locusts.  EmJay's beloved harvest of fucks was gone.  Now, she dresses how she wants, does what she pleases, never allows anyone's personal opinion get her down, and enjoys spending her days in more healthy pursuits.  She smokes up on occasion, but prefers edibles; loves to go to parties and gay clubs; can tear up a pizza; loves almost anything dipped in chocolate; ignores her parents when they try to point out that making videos on the internet isn't a 'real job'; and loves to show up people who try to act like girls can't game.

Hobbies:  Video games; making and eating edibles; dance; travel; attending conventions; cosplay; board games; DDR; karaoke

Skills:  Mad dance skillz, yo; making bad-ass costumes; making sweet vidjas; queen of the tangent; virtual strategery

Background:  Talia grew up in the city, in a neighborhood that most people would politely call low-rent and impolitely call the ghetto.  Her father owned and ran a corner store and the family lived in a relatively small apartment above it.  She was the baby, and she grew up with two older brothers who were fiercely protective of their little sister.  They were a blended family, as her mother had been married previously to a black man and her brothers were, consequently, mixed race.  Her mother's first husband had been a truck driver who'd died in an accident when one of the tires on his truck blew and it jackknifed.  The boys had been fairly young when they'd lost their father, and so when their mother married a couple of years later, they took to their step-father quickly.

They were all happy and very close.  Talia was a bit of a wild child, especially compared to her brothers, but she never took her behavior too far.  She wasn't rebelling against anything, merely finding herself and developing her own personality, which meant that she felt genuine remorse the few times that her actions ended up hurting someone she loved.  Like, the time she and her friend were busted for underage drinking at a local park and she was hand-delivered to her parents by a couple of local beat cops.  Luckily, they were familiar with her and her family, and they agreed to let her off with a warning.  Still, the disappointment she had brought to her parents was enough to keep her off the booze.  Well, that and she wasn't exactly a fan of the flavor or the physical reaction.  Despite her hang-over, her parents made her go to school the next day, and she realized there were unpleasant consequences to drinking, and not much up side.

She worked hard enough at her grades to get by, especially with a little (or a lot of) help from her brothers.  Her parents were very proud to watch her walk at graduation and accept her degree, and she was looking forward to college and a chance to really figure things out for herself.  That didn't last long, though.  During her first semester away from home, she discovered the wonderful world of THC and Youtube.  She began exploring edibles, her preferred manner of getting high, and making videos in her abundance of free time.  It wasn't long before she'd developed a following and a gift for making her own tasty treats, and began to make her own money from her videos and selling her creations.  She failed her first semester of college, having stopped attending classes for the most part, and decided not to return.  Her parents were upset, but they supported her choice to try and make a go of it on Youtube.  She didn't mention the other way she was supplementing her income.  Over the past year, she has amassed an impressive amount of subscribers on Youtube and Twitch, alternating her gaming videos with 'cooking' videos and vlogs that involved her going to various conventions and gaming venues in cosplay.  Of course, she can't mention the 'special ingredient' in her videos, but those in the know are aware of it and can find the full recipe on her personal website.

Link for ClassMesmerist

Deities worshipped:  Gozreh

Appearance:  Gabbie stands all of 3'1", though if asked she'll claim that she's 3'3 1/2"...at least.  Despite her small size, she tends to stand out due to her toasted almond skin, adorable freckles, huge aquamarine eyes and colorful hair.  Her flare for the dramatic extends to her appearance, leading her to dress in vibrant hues and glitzy fabrics, adorn her face with bold pigments and arrange her multi-colored hair into complex, eye-catching styles.  A thin scar bisects her right eyebrow and extends down her face to the middle of her cheek, suggesting that perhaps her life was not as easy as one might first believe.

Personality:  There are those that Gabbie has met in the past who could resist her charm, but not many and they always ended up being ignored by everyone who fell so easily under the charismatic gnome's spell.  For the most part, Gabbie doesn't use her gifts for ill and she tries very hard not to harm people, but if there's a rich guy who is kind of a douche, and he's willing to give her a goodly portion of his worldly possessions, simply because he finds her fascinating.  Well, who is she to deny him the feeling of joy that such an act of charity would bring him?  Plus, she can hand over the lion's share to those who are in need, only keeping a small portion for herself, as a kind of...finder's fee!  People are always surprisingly willing to give the girl room and board, steep discounts on goods, beautiful gifts of the sparkling variety...ect.  She knows better than to take too much advantage, not wishing to leave anyone worse off for having known her, and often she redistributes what she gets to others who haven't been #blessed like herself.  And, those who give her things get other things in return, like the joy of her bright, energetic personality and her plethora of stories, which she is always happy to re-enact theatrically for her rapt audience.

Hobbies:  Seamstress, acting, storytelling, competitive eating and drinking, animal husbandry (needed it to round out her college application)

Skills:  Advanced Distraction Techniques, Winning Friends and Influencing People, Larceny and Lockpicking

Background:  Gabbie was born to good, hard-working gnomes.  Her mother was a fortune teller and her father was an expert juggler, and both of them traveled with a carnival that was run by a very shady dwarf named Irongut.  When Gabbie was born, she was almost immediately incorporated into the act, and became the grande finale of her father's show.  Luckily, he was very good at what he did, and she never once found herself landing on the floor...he was always able to catch her at the last second.  As she grew older, and too big to be juggled, she started learning from her mother, with plans to one day take over for her in the carnival.  While Gabbie was very gifted when it came to telling stories, her mother was dismayed by the ease with which her daughter wove lies out of wholecloth for the customers.  The girl couldn't see anything in their palms, cards or crystals, but she decided that her tales were probably far more interesting than whatever really lay in the future of the potato farming Halflings, or apothecary shop clerks.  Peh.

Her mother didn't agree, though, and so they searched for something else that little Gabbie could do in the carnival to keep out of trouble.  Eventually, they came across the magician, an elderly human man who had once been a grand adventurer, or so he claimed, before giving it up to work in the carnival.  Well, he hadn't planned to work in the carnival, but Irongut had 'convinced' him to do so, since the old man owed the dwarf a considerable amount of gold.  Jax, the Mesmerist, agreed to take Gabbie on as an assistant and, over time, his apprentice.  It was from him that she learned how to captivate a crowd, appeal to the hearts and minds of almost anyone, and create dazzling illusions that could fool even the most discerning skeptic.  He also taught her to wield a sword, advising that no illusionist should ever find themselves utterly helpless because they failed to learn how to defend themselves in the, admittedly, mundane manner.

Eventually, Gabbie's parents were able to retire from the carnival, and not long after Jax passed away from pure old age.  Gabbie had nothing holding her to the carnival, and her heart longed for adventure and derring-do.  She saw her parents to their new home, where they could settle down in relative peace, and then left to find her own way in the world with excitement in her chest and a small purse of gold hidden between her breasts.  For the next couple of years, there wasn't much in the way of real excitement or adventure, but there was a lot of travel, a lot of new friends, gold won over emptied pints of ale or devoured meat pies, stories collected and retold over and over, and lovers had and lost.  Gabbie loved her life, and still does, though she's always open for change and a jolt of something different.

EmJay alone is awesome Biblio, but your Mesmerist gnome?  Holy crap!  From what I've seen, she's a frightening mix of bardic ability, psionist, and a cleric with her utterly insane mind tricks.  I love what you have already.  Need to finish the rest of course, but as a start, you're doing awesome.

And Gjevv, you're fine, there's no rush my friend.

Thanks, Vergil!  I just wanted to post it here, so people have an idea of what's already being done.  I'll finish her up a bit at a time.

Normally when you throw someone a dirty look, their brains aren't melted out of their ears lol.  That's the first thing I thought of when I started looking through your class info.  So we have a girl, who has a knack for baking questionable brownies and other sweets, playing a gnome that can fuck with people's minds with a simple glance.  I predict much hilarity and epicness in your future lol.

Before I forget, again, everyone here can suggest stuff for the world at large, so long as it obviously follows what has so far been established.  The big things right now are that while the Empire might be gone along with the age of heroes, leaving behind an understandable dislike for adventurers and so called heroes to this day, a lot of their ideals remain.  With a few exceptions, most races and sexualities, preferences, and ideologies are generally accepted.  Evil deities, certain dark magics, and demons in general are obviously hated for good reason, but for the most part, orcs, tieflings, even some surface dwelling drow aren't looked upon in disfavor, just to give you folks kind of an idea of what to expect even though the world building thread is still pretty much in its infancy.

There aren't, or at least I hadn't planned on it, a lot of the world that hasn't been discovered already.  There are few blank edges on any well made, written out map, and the main continent where most of this will take place, unless by some miracle we expand across the ocean lol, is pretty settled by people.  Small towns, cities, or at the least castles, both inhabited and left to ruin, can be found with relative ease.  So beyond the few places I've listed and stuff already, feel free to include more in your histories and just ideas in general is what I'm trying to say lol.

Gonna be a bit longer than promised; I got caught up in making dinner, watching movies, that I sorta spaced on this...  :-[

Famine

Name: Freja Sandvick
Age: 20
Gender: Female

Appearance: Freja is a tall girl from the mountains of Norway where she stands 5'11”. Being a mountain climber keeps her lean and very fit at a 165lbs. Some have described her as both being a viking in appearance while she works out, to just a relaxed girl who enjoys to drink tea on a cold winter night. Her favorite fashion items include a tank top and jeans in the summer time where she doesn't have to pile on an extra forty pounds of clothing just to keep warm, so when given the chance she goes for the lightest clothing possible.

Personality: While she was in Norway Freja was full of confidence and acted like it. She was quick on her feet and loved to be active. However, upon moving to America as a foreign exchange student she found herself in an unfamiliar environment and this turned her into a walking wreck. She finds herself very shy around people she does not know very well due to most of them being put off by her very thick accent, but once someone gets to know her more she comes out of her cocoon in full force and goes back to being the super energetic girl from Norway. Ironically, despite being a very athletic person she does enjoy the occasional pack of smokes due to her brother smoking all the time around her although she does not call herself addicted just quite yet. She is very defensive of her friends and is not opposed to getting violent if someone she loves in is danger of getting hurt.

Hobbies: Chess; working out; snow boarding; rolling her own cigs; reading; lazy sundays with friends

Skills: Mountain climbing; knife throwing; martial arts; hair braiding

Background: Freja was born in a small town in Norway called Lillehammer. Here she grew up on a family estate where most of her extended lived as well, and due to this she had a very close bond with all of her family. Her father was a software engineer and her mother was a fitness instructor that constantly pushed Freja to work out and not be one of the girls who couldn't stand up for herself. Her parents were always supportive of her trying to pick up a new hobby when she was very young, and due to this she had entirely too many by the time she hit her teen years.

In her early teen years she decided that she needed to narrow down her hobbies so that she could start to get more proficient at the ones she did have. Being in a very mountainous region it only made sense that she would become an excellent rock climber. She only had one close call when she slipped and nearly broke the anchor in the rock. That was the adrenaline surge of a lifetime that she hoped she would never experience again. Along with Mountain Climbing she also excelled at martial arts taught to her by her cousin who went into the Norwegian military. Her brother was also a massive nerd and taught her how to throw knives to impress her friends, and it didn't help that her mother called Freja her viking princess.

Everything in her life was going very well until her parents decided that she should go visit america as a foreign exchange student. Living in a small village they figured she needed to get out and see the world instead of just disappearing to the moutains for entertainment. So, without much of a choice she was enrolled in the program and found a home almost immediately. Packing her bags she moved across the world expecting it to be just like home. Upon arriving it was the biggest culture shock of her life. The family that she was staying with had the worst time trying to figure out what she was saying due to the fact she would speak in Norwegian forgetting that they only spoke English. Even when she spoke english it was with such a thick accent that some people continously asked her to repeat herself which was a highly embarrassing incident every time.

In light of all that though, she did eventually find a friend. It was one day in school that she met a girl named Emma, or EmJay as she liked to be called. Emjay practically snatched Freja away the first time they spoke and poured every american past time over her like it was a glorious shower. It was a great experience as she got to experience video games for the first time which were a foreign concept as she had never played any before. All in all her relationship with EmJay was a nice enough experience that when her parents asked if Freja would like to move to the states that she agreed.

Ons: Willing almost anything that isn't in the Offs.
Offs: Scat and other bodily fluids, vore, bestiality and/or animal play.
Name: Alfhild Lothbrok
Age: 24
Gender: Female

Alignment:  Chaotic Neutral
Race: Human

Racial Traits:
Medium: As Medium creatures, humans have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size.
Human base land speed is 30 feet.
1 extra feat at 1st level.
4 extra skill points at 1st level and 1 extra skill point at each additional level.
Automatic Language: Common. Bonus Languages: Any (other than secret languages, such as Druidic). See the Speak Language skill.
Favored Class: Any. When determining whether a multiclass human takes an experience point penalty, his or her highest-level class does not count.

Link for Class: Berserker

Deities worshipped: None

Appearance: Alfhild wears the fur and mail armors of the northern tribes to protect her in battle. She has long brown hair that she keeps braided so as not to interfere in battle, and has a distinct tattoo on the right side of her face marking her as a warrior in her culture. She stands 6' in stature and has been known to tear the limbs off of her enemies.

Personality: Alfhild had to keep up with the men in the north to prove to them that she was just as much of a warrior as them. This makes her brash, a bit rude, and just as fierce as her counterparts in battle. She also knows how to party and hold her drink making her a delightful companion to enjoy the merriment with, together.

Hobbies: Hunting; drinking; singing; raiding
Skills: Sailing; advanced interrogation techniques; cold weather survival

Background: Alfhild was the daughter of a famous warrior who would go out into the woods to fight bears without a weapon. He was renowned for his strength, but also his compassion. When it came time for the children to become adults and begin their careers she already knew that she wanted to be with the warriors. The only obstacle though was that they wouldn't allow her unless she won a duel with another warrior her own age, so they put her up against the biggest thirteen year old that was going to become a warrior.

The fight for her to become a warrior was a fierce one as she wasn't actually expecting him to hit her that hard, but he did, and it was not a pretty sight. The first punch that he sent broke her nose and sent her to the floor. Her father was going to call the fight had she not gotten back up. It was only by slamming her foot into her opponents knee was she able to drop him to the ground and slam her own knee into his face repeatedly. That fight was the fight that earned her the nickname “Troll of the North”.

Growing up after that she was seen as a warrior and became the first woman to have the warriors marking tattoo'd onto her face, and after reaching the age of twenty two she decided that she was going to adventure out and make a name for her family in the world. It was not long after she left her home that she was set upon by a group of bandits that wished to take her fur cloak. Feeling that was the perfect time to test herself against the commoners she took them on. A bard watched from a distance as she woman used a massive axe to cleave one of the men in half. This had not deterred the other three bandits however as one managed to get behind her. The bard had to close his eyes and just heard blood curdling screams from two men and when he opened his eyes there was but one man left who had dropped his weapon and was backing away. Alfhild was having none of that though, and the bard had watched as the giant woman slammed her foot into the mans back. It was said that the man could never walk again after that, and that he was spared his life so that he could spread her name across the land. It was of typical northern fashion that she was more concerned about her namesake than the life of that man.

Through the coming months she had stumbled into a town and met a tiny woman who had a fierce gaze. She grew a strong liking to her and began to follow her as she figured that this little woman, who was called a gnome apparently, would bring her fame like no one else could. The gods told her that her destiny was to be wrought with battle, and she would enjoy the blood bath immensely and even looked forward to it.

Well Famine, I'd say you're pretty good on your character sheet.  Welcome aboard my friend.  My only minor complaint is that you could have been just a little more extensive on Alfhild's history, but on the other hand she is your average barbarian berserker, so she probably doesn't have much to her name just yet.  That said, did she meet EmJay's gnome before now, have they traveled together at all?  It wouldn't be for long I realize, but just thought I'd ask, see what you two might have come up with together.  Another thing to consider, it sounds like Alfhild came from the mountains around Coldgate, Winterview to be precise, or were you thinking of another mountainous region?  Anyway, she's good, just wanted to ask and stuff.

Thank you kindly!  Freja alone was pretty awesome, so don't worry about her so much, but just a little more fleshed out, a little more detail from Alfhild and you'll be good.  Also, where'd she xcome from?  Winterview Mountains or another mountainous area?  No surprise given your girl's history, which was pretty badass by the way lol.

Duuuuuude! This is what i miss when i dont go to the boards more often. Totally up for this.

Totally up for this. So many ideas ugh tooo many ideas!

Landshark

Gonna drop this here. Get the second half done up tomorrow. Is bedtime

Name:Mathew Newman
Age:24
Gender:Male
Appearance: Ht:5’9, weight: 190, Light brown hair worn shaggy straight, A bit portly with a round face and dark eyes. Tends to slouch, wears business casual most of the time. Never fully smiles just upturns one side of his mouth.
Personality:Mathew is quiet and shy by nature. He tends to go with the flow and agree with anyone that’s taking charge or seems popular. He is however a great friend willing to do anything for you even at his own misfortune. A firm believer in the idea that some people are just meant to cruise through life while other suffer. He has accepted that he is one of the later and as such does what he can to keep the cruisers cruising.
Hobbies:Mathew is a home body through and through. Even though he his new to table top games he showed skill at painting the minis which landing him the job of painting any new minis his friends came across. It relaxed him and allowed him to get into a kind of Zen like trance. His love from childhood has been history however. Show him a book about the Flying Tigers of WWII or a biography about Alexander the great and he is all over it. Finding indulging in the great deeds of others to be reassuring to his hum drum life. On the weekends is when he turns on his beast however. Hours of constant run and gun on any first person shooter he can get his hands on. The power of being able to smack down all those bullies and assholes that he has to deal with constantly is the only release he gets from his terrible existence.
Skills: Mathew is a manager of a shoe store buy day and as such deals with the rudest people imaginable. His ability to pacify and placate others is almost mind boggling. He is also overly observant to the point others see him as anal retentive, taking it so far as to remember where others have put their things so as to simplify their lives when near him. Probably not surprising, or maybe it is, is that Mathew was an Eagle Scout when he was a boy. His parents thought it important for their shy son to meet others and interact. Unfortunately Mathew stayed in his shell but absorbed the knowledge like a sponge, learning knots, semaphore, fire starting and navigation just to mention a few.
Background:  Mathew is a pitiable soul. Having always been shy it was hard for him to meet people and fit in. Despite his parents efforts he just couldn’t break out of his shell. Throughout school he was the silent nerdy kid in the corner. His parents constant moving didn't help either. Living no more than a few years in any one place made making friends hard and keeping them near impossible. Most of Mathews friends tended to be younger than he as for some reason they tended to think he was cooler just for being a few years older. When he got to high school he actually met a girl who didn’t seem to care about any of that and they quickly became inseparable. He got a job at a local shoe store and was promoted to manager just a year later. Things were going great and a year after high school the two moved in together. Mathew loved his girlfriend Sarah and wanted only to make her happy. He worked night and day to pay for them to have an apartment together and put her through college. The plan was that once she was finished they would get married. Unfortunately life doesn’t work that way and as Sarah’s graduation date drew close she began to go out more and more with her friends while Mathew was at work.

Then it happened, Mathew came home one day and she was gone. A simple letter saying they had grown apart and she met someone new, sat on a pile of mail including Sarah’s final quarter of college bill. Destroyed Mathew withdrew once more deeper than his friends could possibly imagine. After months of pestering, and outright lying, his friends convinced him to go out with them. What he found instead was a group of gamers setting around a table talking about RPG’s and what the hell a bardiche was? Looking around he didn't see any of his friends present but the DM apparently was in the know and struck up conversation with him. Normally Mathew would have sat quietly and waited for everyone to make a character then found the most useful class he could to help out. His friends and, by extension, the DM had other ideas however. Telling him that the purpose of the game was to be that person you never got to be in real life, Mathew sat down and looked through the books available.

Mathew wasn't what you would call athletic nor agile, he also didn't stand out or draw attention. He settled on the elf. A simple enough race with fairly consistent abilities across most fantasy genres but what class to take? He had always enjoyed the stories of the Three Musketeers, so he went with a swashbuckler. A roguish dandy who made women swoon was about as opposite as Mathew could get from his everyday self. The problem would be actually acting as such a person in front of strangers. Looking around he spotted several of the girls who were going to be playing and instant felt uncomfortable. Sure they were gamers but they were also pretty. Just the kind of girls he had problems with speaking to, well any girls he had trouble with but pretty ones were even harder.
Ons: female contact, preferably intentional
Offs:ridicule and girls named Sarah

Name:Fenlythe (Fen) Raindancer
Age:125
Gender:Male
Alignment: Chaotic Good

Racial Traits:
Darkvision. Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet o f you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it w ere dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades o f gray.

Fey Ancestry. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.

Trance. Elves don’t need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years o f practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours o f sleep.

Elf Weapon Training. You have proficiency with the longsword, shortsword, shortbow, and longbow.

Cantrip. You know one cantrip of  your choice from the wizard spell list. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for it.

Transmutation cantrip

• You instantaneously light or snuff out a candle, a torch, or a small campfire.
• You instantaneously clean or soil an object no larger than 1 cubic foot.
• You chill, warm, or flavor up to 1 cubic foot of nonliving material for 1 hour.

three of its non-instantaneous effects active at a time.

Link for Class: Blade Bard Pg.21-24
Deities worshipped: Aerdrie Faenya (goddess of air, weather, avian, rain and fertility), Deep Sashelas (God of oceans, sea elves, creation and knowledge)
Appearance: Standing roughly 5’9 Fen tends to be on the tall side for an elf. His long chestnut hair is kept back in a ponytail which exposes his ears and sharp angled face. Usually keeping a jaunty smile on he tends to move his fingers when bored as if listening to music no one else can hear. His manner of dress tends toward the flamboyant and form fitting to show of his wiry tone body. He prefers gold and green colors and larger than normal shoulder pads for his seal skin leather armor. The wide shoulders helps to make him look a bit more stalwart, he thinks. An ornately crafted rapier at his left side and broad parrying dagger on his right, along with a wide brimmed hat rounds out his usual attire. When combat seems imminent he will retrieve his light crossbow to get off a few shots before close combat is engaged.
Personality:Fen is a rogue through and through. He loves to chat people up about his exploits, be they combat, sexual or completely false. A good natured, fun loving man who relishes a good contest of wits or swordplay. Rarely does he take a life preferring to add insult to injury instead, leaving his opponents mocked over dead. He also enjoys folks who can take as good as they give and should he loose an honest contest he will accept defeat graciously and buy the champion a drink with no hard feelings. A defender of women and innocents he detest brutish bullies which makes him an outsider in many regions.
Hobbies: Storytelling/story listening: Fen loves a good story especially his own. It is a common for him to care more about how good the bard in the pub is rather than the drink of the pub. When on ship or simply relaxing he tends to whittle. It doesn’t much matter what or for how long as he rarely finished a project before putting it down and moving on. Still he appreciates a fine woodworker when he sees one and has been known to turn out a decent gull from time to time. Dance: If you believed him, you would think Fen had danced all over the world. In truth he just likes to dance. Be it bawdy boot stomping jigs or elegant intricate high society ballroom style, it doesn’t matter to him. He tends to remark that life is a dance, and combat, and sex, and…well he pretty much refers to everything as a dance.
Skills: Navigation: More accustomed to the sextant than the rigging, Fen is an budding navigator. Perception: All elves are naturally attentive. Fen just takes it a bit further, making him hard to get a jump on and allowing him to spot danger early. Sure Footed: Fen can dance on a wobbly table, run across a wet roof and climb a wall as good as any swashbuckler type in the movies.
Background
Fen was born on the Frostcap Isles, the third son of a shipwright. His oldest brother followed in the family business. The next went into the magical arts which meant Fen had a lot to live up too. Unfortunately for his parents he didn’t see it that way. The way he saw things, the family was set and secure so he could go off and follow his heart. Growing up he was always running off and neglecting his studies, preferring instead to hang out behind the port taverns and listen to the tales of the sailors, wrestle with his friends and having roof top races. Its was easy to see where his choices would take him, so when he signed onto a ship as a cabin boy at the tender age of 85, no one was really surprised. Disappointed, yes, but not surprised.

He instantly fell in love with the sea feeling freer than he could have possibly imagined. Making port was a great deal of fun as well since most were full of women who didn’t see him as a child but an elven man. Even the danger of ship to ship combat wasn’t enough to deter him, much to the chagrin of his captain at the time. The captain, being a friend of Fen’s father, added him to a grappling team in hopes that being so close to danger would send him scurrying home with his tail between his legs. Unfortunately Fen did the opposite. After casting his grapple he drew the spare blade of the man next to him and charged with the boarding crew. From there he went on to move around a few ships, leaving each time in search of the next great adventure promised. Each time he moved he would push the boundaries of “safe conduct” but each time he also made an impression on his crew mates, often being voted as Bozeman for the ship. What made him so popular was that Fen didn’t care what his job was on ship. He had been everything from cabin boy to look out even a cook once but everyone decided that was a bad idea after he presented his sea gull surprise.

Having been at sea for the better part of four decades, Fen has traveled a great deal of the known world, and a few not known places. If there is a ship headed someplace new you can bet your last copper that Fen will be in line to be on that ship. As such Fen has seen a great deal, his stories would say more but he is no stranger to the wild and unusual. Having suffered everything from hurricanes to harpies and sirens, though never really fought any, he knows when to turn around and when to barrel through a situation. Unfortunately he prefers to barrel through if he can.
Ons: passionate, unpredictable women. Screamers, biters, scratchers. Free spirited and maybe a little bit of exhibitionism.
Offs:stalkers, demanded dedication, potty play, extra guy (unless a full blown orgy) home bodies.

So, asked this a few pages back, but my concept has to do with a "newb" going to her first TT game because a friend is going and she's interested.  So the friend helps her make her character sheet, gives her some advice on Character creation such as:

"Pick a small character for the bonus."

"But I want to be pretty. Can't I be an elf?"

"No, elf's racials suck.  Be a halfling"

"But, wouldn't I be a midget?"

"Exactly."

"Okay, whatever."

While I know the game is meant to be serious, I think playing a clueless character would be fun.

So, anyone interested in helping me out?  Just need to be able to tie my girl to your character before the game starts.

Vergil1989

I'm fine with the idea myself, but if that was directed at me Aribeth, I'm not running a character, seeing as how I'm running the game, that and I'll be doing my best to keep things moving along with NPCs and stuff lol.

Also LS?  I already like your guy, but you're needing to beef up your background a bit more.  Just a personal preference, sorry to say, but Matthew seems pretty good overall.

So, anyone interested in helping me out?  Just need to be able to tie my girl to your character before the game starts.

Well, Hunter's not a veteran... but if all you want is bad advice, he has lots of that!

And we do have a map, completely blank but I'll be including it in the world building thread later today.  You can thank Famine for the map, he did pretty good work too.  Anyway, keep working on your profiles, getting things sorted out, and I'll do my best to do the same on this end while I still can.

Also, bad advice is still better than none lol.

I've never seen that acronym before, Famine.  I know what it means, given the context, but what does each letter stand for?

Famine

Oh!  -fucking dies.-  I was trying to make that way more complicated and niche than it was.

Famine

:P yea the first time I saw it I had to ask what it meant as well haha.

Expanded Mathews background a bit. Hope thats what you were looking for Vergil.
Still working up the character end. Going Elf swashbuckler.
Thinking maybe he is from a clan of elves that are sea faring.

Ah, well consider me not sorry then Famine.  :P  Jokes aside, it's cool my friend.  Also LS, that is definitely better so you're good on Matthew.  Just need the other half when you get a chance.

Gonna try and get more of the world building thread sorted out now that we have a map and I have the time to commit.  Input as always, is welcome, even if it's just to say not to waste my time lol.  I'd prefer you didn't, but it's still an option.  :P

IMPORTANT UPDATE as of October 6th 2016 in A/A page

Chulanowa

Despite his native tendency towards slacking, he's more than willing to pitch in to help a friend, or even a friend of a friend.
Background: Hunter hais from your stereotypical middle-class nuclear family. David, his father, represents the union for the local newspaper workers. Sandy, his mother co-manages a crafts store. Hunter's the middle child, sandwiched between his brother Kyle who fancies himself a big shot college guy who's going to do better than anyone in the family, and Madelyn, the little sister. Hunter and Kyle never really got along even before Kyle got his delusions of grandeur; In truth, Hunter feels overshadowed by his big brother; Kyle's out learning to be a doctor, and Hunter? Well he's apparently chucking dice in someone's den. Madelyn though, is someone Hunter gets along great with; she sees him as a dork, but what little sister doesn't (and besides, she's right...) All of twelve years old, she has a mouth like a sailor when her parents out to of earshot, and currently aspires to being a professional CS:GO player. Sure, that'll happen. As for the parents, well, they're still suffering the lingering effects of three teenagers in the household; Mostly it's "Hey. How was school. That's nice. Help your mother cook dinner / help your father rake the yard," that sort of thing. Maybe once upon a time they were doting and adoring, but now they've got that thousand-yard stare towards their empty nest vacation plans...

Hunter's school life has been likewise average, and not just in grades. He's got a tight circle of friends, with the closest being Mike and Jalan, who he usually spends weekends with skating at a nearby park. They're also responsible for his weed habit, and these days more time is spent passing a joint between the three of them and bragging about the girls they're totally going to get with after they get to college, man. This is how he met EmJay; the smoking, not the speculative pimping. He's still perplexed by a girl who's hot and a bigger nerd than he is (Cosplay, really, what, you dress up like Luigi?)

Hunter's been struggling to "figure himself out." He knows he's kind of a lump right now; He knows that getting baked and bonking a hackeysack around isn't a career plan, and he understands that he's never ever going to make Pro Tour-level money playing magic. He's currently making decent cash working part-time turning wrenches at a mechanic's shop, but that seems to be a path to nowhere too. Maybe it's just envy of his brother pushing that button in his head, but Hunter wants to be more than some greasemonkey or layabout or whatever. He just doesn't know what.

And until then, there's this game EmJay has dragged him off to try. Could be fun, could be fun...

Name: Taran
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Race: Catfolk
Racial Traits:
   • Ability Scores: +2 Dexterity, +2 Charisma, -2 Wisdom; Catfolk are sociable and agile, but often lack common sense.
   • Low-Light Vision: In dim light, catfolk can see twice as far as humans.
   • Cat's Luck: Once per day when a catfolk makes a Reflex saving throw, he can roll the saving throw twice and take the better result. He must decide to use this ability before the saving throw is attempted.
   • Natural Hunter: Catfolk receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception, Stealth, and Survival checks.
   • Sprinter: Catfolk gain a 10-foot racial bonus to their speed when using the charge, run, or withdraw actions.
Link for Class: Rogue
Deities worshipped: Several; Holds Obad-Hai and Cayden Calean in highest regard, but offers prayers to Calistria, Olidammra, and Fharlanghn as the situation calls for.
Appearance:  Taran stands all of five-foot-six, with a lean, athletic build. Soft white-and-grey fur covers his body, softening the taut muscles beneath. His face is most definitely feline, set with almond-shaped amber eyes, a pink pad of a nose, and sharp teeth. What could be taken for a mop of silver-blonde hair would actually grow into a full mane if he let it. He wears very little clothing, reasoning the fur does enough to keep him warm and safe from the elements; What bit he does wear is out of pure practicality; belts and a bandoleer to carry his stuff, a long scarf to protect his face against harsh weather, and a loincloth because apparently other races are easily ashamed (go figure.) He decorates himself with feathers, apparently with no real import; lose one, replace it with another.
Personality: Taran is quite gregarious; whether sharing a fire with another wanderer, or a flagon of ale with a local card sharp, he loves stories and contact and camaraderie. He's confident in his abilities, even when those abilities are lacking - after all, you never know til you try, and the last time you tried might have just been bad luck! Though he's certainly not above thievery ("Khajiit did not steal anything!" Hunter snickers) he's got a grudge against pirates, whose depredations have made his people suffer; for the same reasons, slavery greatly offends him, even if it's punishment for a crime. He gets along easily with any member of any race who will say hello and share a leg of mutton. Except gnolls. Seriously. Fuck gnolls.
Hobbies:  Taran has developed a great love of board games, and knows the rules to most in the immediate territory (though he might not be great at them.) he plays the flute very well and among his own people is regarded as a fine singer (not so much in places that don't appreciate feline yowling though.) technologies he's not seen before can sometimes hold his attention for a great deal of time, until he either gets bored or figures it out. His greatest interest though is in collecting and telling stories, jokes, and myths.
Skills: Wilderness survival and lore, sneaking, trap detection and disarmament, carousing, flute-playing, thievery, and acrobatics
Background:  Taran hails from a seaside tribe of catfolk somewhere to the west. These Murrsarrath make living off both sea and land as hunters, gatherers, and fishers. Seen a primitive or even barbaric by their more "civilized" neighbors, they are nevertheless have their own rich culture and history. Their religion centers around worship of the world around them, with Gozreh depicted as shark-lord of sea and osprey-lady of the air, and obad-Hai as the Old wolf of the forests.

For his part, Taran was born into the Orca clan, famed for warriors and woodcrafters alike. His father Ashan was a famed singer, while his mother Muqara had made a name for herself in battles against pirates who regularly plundered the clan lands. Life in the village was simple enough; kits learned the crafts of adults, mending nets, drying salt, tanning hides, that sort of thing. Besides that though the adults did not do much to "manage" their children, so a lot of learning was through trial and error; Taran lost a friend (and very nearly his own tail) learning the hard lesson that sea lions are not to be messed with.

Upon reaching maturity though, Taran began undergoing a new series of lessons; Everyone in the Orca clan was expected to fight for the safety of the Murrsarrath as a whole, and the youngsters were no exception. Being a small tribe of people, their methods of battle revolved around ambush, traps, irregular warfare, and guile; though many were skilled in face-to-face fighting, the clever nature of the catfolk meant that more irregular forms of warfare were the norm (another factor that led to their perception as "barbarians.) Taran's first battle was against a roving band of gnolls coming from the south, a pitched, dangerous thing. The hyena-monsters were implacable when they had the scent of blood, and hunted Taran and his little band night and day, to the last of them. Taran earned several scars from that, and lost several friends; to this day Gnolls are among the only races of creatures he cannot bring himself to even consider trusting.

Battle alone wasn't enough to earn one's place as an adult, though; anyone with a spear or blade can fight, after all. The Murrsarrath are a curious, inquisitive race though, and their greatest treasures are knowledge and stories. Things from faraway places that no one has heard before. To be considered an adult among the catfolk, a youngster had to go forth on a wandering, a sort of pilgrimage called skarskarret, and return with a clutch of stories and news from abroad after at least a year. When his time came, Taran took on the tattoos of his clan (though they would be covered with fur, any other Murrsarrath would know what they are) and left for the east.

He's been over a year on his journey and has seen much, met many people. Not always for the better; in these dark times, adventurers of any sort are reviled, and those as obviously alien as a primitive "cat-man" perhaps even less so. Even with those hurdles though, Taran has managed, making some fast friendships, a few idle romances, and even a couple of burgeoning rivalries behind him - Mostly due to his theft of something he needed at the time (Evidently humans are very possessive of swords and horses?)  Must of the time on the road has been spent alone, simply learning about hte land itself, strange plants and animals and weather. He doesn't care much for it, being a gregarious sort, and is eager to visit new settlements and forge new partnerships.

Ons: Taran has developed a slight fetish for furless races. Especially ones that enjoy petting, scratching, and cuddling.
Offs: Being talked about as if he were a domesticated animal; Anything bodily damaging (For him; if you like being bitten or scratched, he can accommodate); Having his tail or ears pulled (fondled is fine, fulling will get you hurt.)

Vergil1989

As I already asked LS, I'm going to have to ask you to add a fair bit more to Hunter and Taran's histories.  Beyond that though, you're doing pretty good.  I know, I'm a pain in the ass, but I just like more to work with is all.  That and most everyone else has so far given me and Silk three paragraphs in their histories thus far, without too much poking about lol.  But yes, sorry Chul, still need a bit more, but you're off to a good start.

When I'm not about to pass out, I'll start getting the OOC, character threads, and maybe even the IC going tomorrow.  For now though, excellent work from everyone thus far and I'm quite excited to see what everyone's capable of in the days to come.

Uffda. Well, I'll figure something out. Anything in particular you're looking for, 'cause I could totally fill Hunter's background up with all the inane things that add up to seventeen years. But I'm guessing you can live without that one time at band camp  ;D

Relikai

How exactly will fantasy character background and knowledge be used? Do the characters suddenly know this information on top of they're real lives? Is it a broken kind of almost split.personality kinda thing?

Secondly, if we have world ideas ( cities, regions etc...) should we post it for confederation or pm you?

Callie Del Noire

Vergil1989

Relika, you're free to join up, as are you Callie, but depending on how many sheets I get, I might have to start picking and choosing at this point.

And to answer your questions LS.  They're still who they were before, but yes, they'd be able to 'remember' the lives of their characters, their abilities, skills, any friends and contacts they made, (which is part of why I've been asking for larger backgrounds), and anything else they might realistically know or be able to do.  No split personality or anything like that, your personality would still be that of your real life self, but also that of your character at the same time.  Confidence comes easier, fear might be far easier to manage, insecurities not entirely your own might pop up, but it's more of a harmless fusion rather than one side taking over the other if that makes sense.  As for world ideas, PM or you can post on the world building thread itself since there's plenty of space to be had.  Once I grab your post though and copy, edit, or whatever, just delete yours if you would.

Also Chul, hope some of that helped for your own background as well.  Names for Hunter's parents, his brother, a little about what they do for a living, just whatever comes to mind to fill in the gaps.  Maybe Hunter actually wants to do something he hasn't told anyone before because of one reason or another.  It's all up to you, but Taran is a bit more free since I'm quite curious to see more about his life before he left his village.  Did he have any friends, family, who were they, what was the village itself like?  I could easily keep going, and that was just off the top of my head.

So long as you're humanoid and don't have Evil in your alignment, I'm not being too picky.  I'm pretty sure we have a tiefling gunslinger in the works, and a rogue's just been created so that role's good.  We have a berserker and a scary ass gnome mesmerist.  I haven't seen any progress made yet, but we were SUPPOSED to have a cleric, not sure if they're still going to do so though.  So we could still use a bard or a mage of some sort.  If we get two of the same class, I'll likely go with the one I like more, although there's no rule that says we can't double up lol.

Sounds good.  In case anyone's wondering by the way, the whole 'Age of Heroes' I kept mentioning in the world building thread?  I've come to consider that whole time period as before Marvel's Civil War.  Before the world grew utterly tired of the violence brought by both sides, Valorian was their Justice League Hall of Justice, their Avengers Tower, basically any hero group you can think of.  But after the paladin that fell and came back as a Bane worshipping nutjob, who would go on to corrupt almost every hero she came into contact with, the Civil War unfolded with the world still holding a grudge against the heroes once revered as such.  It'll be your job, once you start getting a name for yourselves, to rebuild that lost honor, to become a beacon of hope again.  And trust me, the world's going to need new heroes lol.

Lol it's cool.  Basically, the world you're in now is centuries after heroes have gone the way of the dinosaurs, but with ever increasing threats on the rise, they'll be needed again.  Even if the Valorian Empire and their remaining heroes hadn't been destroyed and their defenders disappearing in disgrace, the rest of Eden'Dal would have risen up against the Empire for allowing what occurred with the fallen paladin and her army to happen in the first place once she was defeated.  The few long lived people from various elven and other long lived races that survived that dark time all agree, they'd rather deal with unscrupulous mercenaries than run the risk of heroes going bad again, a mindset that has filtered down to the rest of the world to varying degrees.  I'll include a more detailed accounting of the Age of Heroes and its aftermath, but that's the gist of it.

Snake

Name: Hiro Sabreheim
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Appearance: Hiro is 6'4" and 210 lbs with medium-length, messy dark brown hair and steel-blue eyes.  He was someone that didn't give two-shakes of a rat's ass what people thought of the way he dressed; prefering comfortable, casual clothing without a care for popular fashion.  He wasn't fat, but wasn't overly muscular either, somewhere comfortably in the middle  with some muscle tone but little-to-no-definition.

Personality:  Introverted with slight sociopathic tendencies, a belief that "everyone is an idiot. even me sometimes."; Has a strong reverence for nature; prefers to have a small, trusted group of friends rather than lots of fair-weather "buddies".  However, he exemplifies altruism and loyalty toward those he does sincerely call friends.  Suffers from a form of "social disconnection" in dealing with others initially.

Hobbies: Playing Video games- namely RPGs, Writing, Backpacking, Hunting.
Skills: Survival training, The ability to mentally multitask and think creatively, some basic skill with firearms and archery equipment. Horse-riding
Background:  Hiro was what was in the clique of "oneself" and often considered himself to to be a "lonely ghost" a person that people often didn't realize was there unless they did something that grabbed attention.  Formerly a victim of severe bullying in his youth; he didn't even start making serious friends until high-school and the rest of the group is likely the people he played with or was invited to play with.  He came from a broken home with a drug-using mother that'd nearly forced family into being bankrupt; a father that was forced to work long-hours to compensate- he had to learn to be self-sufficient.

His mother, Sabrina; was a nurse that got access to medical pot and decided to give it a shot. Bad idea.

He considers his small circle of friends to be more of a family than anyone he's related to by blood. As they often prove to be more reliable to him than his family is half the time.  They, to him, are worth going out his way to do favors for or to simply try and help them through their own problems- it lets him forget his own for a little while.

He's also been to various summer camps and spent time with family in the great outdoors before discovering the joy of gaming and as a result still retains experienced knowledge of such things.  This mostly happened before his mother ran into her drug habit and when they weren't movin around so much as a result of his father's work taking him to different places to find the best jobs.  There really isn't much else to say about his history; he wants to forget most of it and move on anyway.

Avatar/Player Character Information

Name: Kagero Mitofugi
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Race: Human
Racial Traits: Gain +1 Feat, has exchanged the "+1 Skill rank/Lvl" for Immunity to Sleep and Paralysis to reflect her bloodline more strongly and has inherited the ability to climb stone/rock faces easily (gaining a climb speed of 20 and a +8 to the skill) (This information is found in the Pathfinder "Advanced Races Guide, Pg 214" and "Bastards of Golarion" on the "back cover")

Link for Class: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/sorcerer
Deities worshipped: Undecided, Family worshipped Torag (dwarven god of the forge and battle)
Appearance: Kagero is 5'11"  and about 157lbs with an athletic, physically fit build. In fact; she looks almost as muscular as a man does due to her natural gift of almost superhuman strength and the fact that working as a blacksmith's apprentice tends to make people far stronger than they look, tougher as well.

She has Onyx-black hair with oddly copper-colored eyes with a skintone similar to that of a new penny.  What alot of people do not see because she covers it with her bangs is the fact she has small copper-scales along her hairline and forehead and along the backs of her fingers as well as the upper lopes of her ears.

Her dragon-heritage, from which her sorcerous powers derive, runs particularly strong in her. This gives her minor physical traits that become more pronounced as she uses her magical powers.
Figure wise she sports a somewhat top-heavy build; with her measurements being approx 39F-26-36.

Personality: Kagero tends more brash and hot-blooded as well as more combative.  Prefering to act first, think later.  She's keenly aware of the fact she defies the norm for mages; being both physically gifted as well as magically empowered.  While she isn't a leader-type personality, she does have the intuition and personal magnetism needed to at least get-by in terms of social graces.  Having tried to downplay her sorcerous powers when they manifested far earlier than normal; she developed a keen abilty to lie and bluff her way past suspicion.

Oddly, she also has a wonderful sense of humor; able to laugh and joke around with the best of them.  As of late; she's using her magical talents for the sake of minor pranks and the like.  She loves the idea of personal freedom and does NOT take well to being ordered around by someone thinking themselves superior to her.  (which usually results in a faceful of acid!).
Hobbies: She enjoys rock-climbing since she has a natural talent for it and the physique to have little trouble.   She also enjoys outdoorsy stuff like travel and exploration.  Kagero also likes to gamble and play games of chance.
Skills: As stated: Kagero is good at climbing, as a result of her own innate abilities she also knows enough about magic and it's lore as well at it's applications to get by. She can also generally sense when she's being lied  and knows how to lie (quite well for her age).  Kagero also possesses keen senses and is generally aware of her environment as well as able to pick out variations.

Background: Kagero was born in a small mountain village where the primary trade was metalwork, stonemasonry and mining to a normal human family. She has two half-siblings, a brother and a sister; as she was born out of wedlock and as a result is a bastard child. Sired by a smooth-talking adventurer when her mother took a fancy to him while treating the man in the local church.  He has since perished for unknown reasons (to her); leaving her to deal with a half-father that didn't want her around and siblings  that made her feel very uncomfortable.

Despite all that; she had as much of a normal life as she possibly could- trying not to "shame" her step-father and siblings since they were of the "upper"middle-class in their village (as close to nobiity as one could be without an actual title.)  She took to exploring the cliffsides and mountains that the village sat between since it was in a virtual box-canyon in an effort to "stay out of the way." That was until she came across the abandoned lair of a dragon of some sort; which caused her innate magical powers to awaken; blasting the cavern with a wave of magically created acid.  After that point, she regularly snuck up to that cavern after her daily chores and smithing training was completed for the day to practice.

Up until that point she'd felt powerless to alter the course of life; shunned by her family except her mother and viewed dimly in the eyes of the villagers.   The only bright spot had been when her mother prevailed upon the local blacksmith to accept the girl as an apprentice so that she could at least learn some form of trade.

However, when she'd grown and matured; Kagero began to attract the attention of the young men of the village and soon grew tired of it.  One day she challenged the so-called "Golden boy" (Named Nathan) of the lot to a game of chance in which she cheated him out of quite a bit of wealth as well as the young man's dignity.  Literally taking the shirt off his back as well as the ornate sword off his belt!  Soon after, she'd heard that the young man was plotting revenge of some sort and decided to take her ill-gotten bounty and flee.  Taking off in the cover of night, climbing up and out of her village and camping in her training cavern before setting off the next day.

She had no real destination in mind; she just wanted to get away from the rumors of a brewing revenge for the humiliation she'd wrought as a result of her underhanded cheating durin the game.

Ons: Exhibitionism, Sexual Sadism (she likes the idea of inflicting pain in partners)

Offs: No changes from previous entry

Well, you're off to a good start for Hiro, but you're gonna need to add a fair bit more to his history.  I already sent a PM with what I think should help with that.

So....Captain Jack Sparrow without the insanity, I can deal with Fen lol.  I love the idea honestly LS, so welcome aboard.  ;D

I'm torn between Zakar and Raywyn for a starting point for everyone here.  I might go with Raywyn, only because that's where I figure most everyone would have gravitated towards given it's the largest place on the main continent.  Zakar though is more free and loose on its rules and boundaries, and not so....rigid in certain regards.  Hmm.  I'll give it some thought, but I am truly loving everything I've seen already from everyone thus far.  For those that need to add more to your profiles and stuff though, do that and you should be good to go as well.  In any event, I'll be getting the OOC and Character Threads going momentarily, just gonna add someone to the World Building thread.

And yes, before you ask, your Dungeon Master, or Mistress, haven't decided if your DM was a guy or not lol, was a Marvel fan.  :P  Cheers!

I have a number of the threads up and linked in the first post of this.  I went NC Exotic just to be on the safe side, although I'm not expecting a lot of NC stuff to happen.  It's more just to keep our options open and stuff like that, but this won't be rape happy or anything lol.  Anyway, if you're approved, post your characters in the character thread first and foremost.  I'll get the IC going before too long here, just gotta give my brain a chance to churn out something halfway decent lol.

Vergil1989

As of right now, from what I could see at a glance, Landshark is the only one that's really got a fully fleshed out character sheet.  All the rest of you either need to try and add more to your backgrounds in some way, or you're still in the process of creating your characters from scratch.  That's fine, since we're not ready to begin just yet anyway, but as I've said before, I'm gonna be gone come Sunday, and I wanted to get this started before Saturday night at the very least.

Silk will be in charge with minor stuff such as getting people fighting the occasional monsters in the sewers and things like that.  Just to get the acclimated to the world at large as it stands now, if all goes well.  I'll do my best to get things set up for her with the time I got left to do so.  But don't let us do all the work.  :P  Anyway, just wanted to let ya know how things stood at the moment.

Hmm... Barkeep says he has a problem with rats in the root cellar OR we can wonder around outside the gates fighting little jelly monsters....which will level us up faster? :P

Callie Del Noire

Trying to make up my crippled ex-navy jock turned gamer.. we got any wizard of the magic item making type?

Vergil1989

Far as I know, we don't have a wizard or sorceress period, so having one of those, (so long as it's not a metagaming annoyance like Orion and his Tiberius Stomrwind from Critical Role,) would be most appreciated.

And to answer your question LS, I love slimes if it's from a game like Dragon Quest or something cutesy like that, but this is more Final Fantasy X or Dragon Age, not cutesy fantasy you'd find from a JRPG lol.  Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance would be another good example of what to expect monster wise, although with a fair bit more humor thrown into the mix than any of them put together.  So while there won't be any cute faced slimes running around, monsters harassing the country side like kobolds, wolves, lizardmen, etc, those will be easy to find for the most part.  Rats in a cellar or basement are also something you can expect to find in the early stages, but later on?  Well....you'll have to wait and see lol.

If you don't hate your overlord Dungeon Master, then we're not doing our jobs right.   >:)

Callie Del Noire

Well borrowing from your analogy.. being a tiefling is like being a mutant.. makes for an interesting teen age experience at the school of magic.

Stealing the story from my PFS Venture Captain.. she hit 16 and got.. demonic.. :D

And I figure Kyle will be more the 'creating type' than the 'abusing type.'. Figure he'd be happy to have his hands back and making things. Working out the backstory.. Star Athlete, blew out his knee.. dad pretty much gives up on him.. he joins the navy.. flight deck accident truly cripples him.. he gets into gaming while in recovery/physical therapy.. makes a good living selling short stories and such..

Treats each character as a 'character building' exercise /

Vergil1989

Don't get me wrong, I loved Orion and his Dragonborn sorcerer, but the guy's constant meta-gaming was a truly annoying aspect that turned me off of his character before he finally left the cast for good.  So that's a nice reassurance, to say the least Callie.  ;D  I like your concept though, especially since I'm physically disabled due to a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy, but I live a pretty good life overall.  That's not a defining trait, but just something I deal with.  That said, I can relate is all I'm saying, so I might be a bit more lenient to your flight deck military guy lol.

Lol no worries on that.  Magically created zombies from evil necromancers will be the extent of anything even remotely related to darkspawn, and that'll be without the whole bite you become a zombie yourself nonsense lol.  So no, no darkspawn, but I WILL say that there might be vampires and stuff like that, and if a necromancer can find your body before your allies do, they could bring you back as a soulless corpse to add to their army of undead.  Just thought I'd throw that out there.   >:)

It says in the title 'Freeform'.  Meaning no system.  Little monster groups and such you can cut down with abandon, but I don't want anyone to walk all over the minions that are thrown at the group.  Upper class minions and 'bosses' however, are to be a team effort.  NO ONE will be oneshotting the big bads, no matter how badass they are, especially since you're starting at 'level one' for all intents and purposes.

Big Honk

Ah, I'm a terribly slow writer! And also terribly out of form! And everyone is posting ahead of me, and also I'm European so it's 02:30! So here is my very, very WIP sheet. I will of course fill out the sheet come tomorrow, but I feel like I had to get something out before the doors close, and hell everyone else seems to have posted WIPs so it seems to not be a social faux pas? Anyway, here we go.

Name: Matthew Cartwright
Age: 33
Gender: Male

Appearance:  Matthew stands at a modest 5'7, with a broad build that's usually draped in an unflattering hoodie and sweatpants. Brown hair, brown eyes, round expression. Has a scratchy beard with a few early grey specs in its brown; it's the kind of growth trimmed only to keep societal standards. Though having broad shoulders and chest, it's clear he hasn't exercised them properly in years. Wears white sneakers, curiously spotless. Appears as someone who's been dragged out of their basement to join society. He seems to have done so, reluctantly.

Personality: Simply, a cynical and paranoid bastard. Though once a bold young artist, his ego in vast disproportion to his portfolio, defeat after defeat has resulted in a state where he believes that the world isn’t ready for him, and, somewhere in the back of his mind, that it’s the reverse. He treats people he doesn’t know with distrust - particularly the successful - but has a soft spot for youths, wishing to inform them about the “truth” of things before they’re faced with harsh “reality.” Being a manchild might be a factor in this, though. However, to these people, and to the other people he sees as equals, he is fiercely loyal - especially if they choose to reward him, be it monetarily or with praise.

Despite the setbacks in his life, he’s still a driven person, which these days is frankly more to his detriment. His self-destructive tendencies are put in full motion inside the world of roleplay, where he enjoys more than anything playing the part of those he feels has scorned him. Cruel, manipulative, scumbag characters are his MO, and are frankly a pain in the ass to play with. His deep knowledge and understanding of DnD’s systems and kinks are his saving grace as a roleplay partner, and makes him useful in the combat against any nitpicky GMs.
Hobbies:  Roleplay, Drawing, Pulpy Grimdark Novels, Taekwondo (defunct), Shitposting.
Skills:
Cooking: Having come from a family of good eaters, and good wealth, Matthew knows how to cook up a damn good meal. Comes with the downside of being a fairly picky eater.

Background: Matthew Cartwright came from an upper middle class family that said he could do anything. Independence has been the cornerstone of his beliefs and living ever since a young child, his affluent parents having crawled from modest beginnings through perseverance and, something which their coddling of Matthew meant he could never have, self-insight.

Offs:

Name: Faydove Asira
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Alignment:  Lawful Good
Race: Halfling

Racial Traits:
Ability Score Racial Traits: Halflings are nimble and strong-willed, but their small stature makes them weaker than other races. They gain +2 Dexterity, +2 Charisma, and –2 Strength.
Size: Halflings are Small creatures and gain a +1 size bonus to their AC, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, a –1 penalty to their CMB and CMD, and a +4 size bonus on Stealth checks.
Base Speed (Slow Speed): Base speed of 20ft.
Languages: Halflings begin play speaking Common and Halfling.
Craven: While most halflings are fearless, some are skittish, making them particularly alert. 1+ bonus to Initiative Rolls and Attack Rolls while flanking. They take a –2 penalty on saves against fear effects and gain no benefit from morale bonuses on such saves. When affected by a fear effect, their base speed increases by 10 feet and they gain a +1 dodge bonus to Armor Class.
Ingratiating: Halflings often survive at the whims of larger, more aggressive races. Because of this, they go out of their way to make themselves more useful, or at least entertaining, to larger folk. Halflings with this racial trait gain a +2 bonus on skill checks for a single Perform skill of their choice, and Perform is always a class skill for them. They also gain a +2 bonus on Craft and Profession checks. This racial trait replaces keen senses and sure-footed.

(I've never tried linking before so no idea how this works)
Class:  http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/cleric
Deities worshipped:  Sarenrae, the Goddess of Healing and Light. She was the deity of her former masters, though mostly only in name - a vestige left from before the time of heroes.
Appearance:
Personality: Faydove is gentle in all that she does. She treads so quietly you'll never hear her approach, and speaks in a softly articulated speech that turns only to make itself clear. Her movements are deliberate in the sense of how one might hold the reigns of a horse, with careful efficiency, and so is the choice of her words. But more hidden than any of the former is her sense of humour, the kind cast with a knowing smile as someone discovers something amiss - like a loaf of bread hollowed out, like a carved up mattress, like a hand in a bag. (I'm just kidding about that last thing. I think.)
Hobbies:
Skills:
Background: A life of slavery was Faydove's reality before she was born. Her family had been slavebound for many generations, for some atrocity by a forgotten relative - a crime that could only be repaid over several lifetimes of servitude. It was a simple life. Sow and harvest crops, tend to the house, look after yourself. Be courteous, but not imposing. Always available, but invisible when not needed. Don't question, don't speak out of line, don't do what isn't asked of you - unless it's what was wanted of you. Perhaps it wasn't the simplest life after all, but Faydove was born into a family of centuries of experience - they knew how to work, and work well, and the masters were generous in return.

The Asira family was a father and two mothers, a sister and two brothers. The love triangle was naturally tense, but Faydove and her siblings bonded together over their misfortune, and a common father who seemed far too large a personality for that of a slave. He'd tell outrageous stories about the forefather who'd cast them into their lot, every tale more gruesome than the last

What she did was perhaps a selfless act, but she never once thought of herself as a hero. After all, how can a slave be a hero?

Callie Del Noire

Name: Kyle Phillips Jr.
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Appearance: 6'4", with dark hair and hazel/green eyes. Tends to dress casual, eschewing ties and leaving his collar open. Prefers jeans and button up shirts  when he can, along with his grandfather's silver rodeo buckle. He has a running back's build but his more recent injuries prevent him from continuing to work out and it's starting to soften and typically keeps his bad arm in a sling and carries a cane.

Personality:Normally outgoing and cheerful, Kyle is prone to what he calls 'Black Dog' moods of extreme frustration and anger and can be quite
destructive and aggressive in the. He has an extensive circle of friend's online, most of them tied to his time in the navy, playing baseball or gaming online. He tends to secrets about his problems and downplays his injuries and absolute hates being pandered to over them.

Hobbies:  Writing, miniature painting, online MMOs, studying online for a degree in English.

Skills:  Expressive writer, already published many short stories; drawing/drafting (difficult to do now), some skills at mechanical design and mechanics and training in bomb assembly/disassembly (EOD), small arms training and some close quarters combat training. (Which is near useless with his injuries)

Background: Kyle Phillips Jr. was the chosen one from age seven till well into high school. He was an amazing springer and had a fast ball that was gaining more 'mph' with each year. Dad loved him best. He got the good stuff, and his sister and little brother were second tier in dad's eyes. He liked it. He was going to be the Phillips who would go to the olympics, play in the majors and come home to bring everyone up in the family.

That dream ended when he was 15 and an angry player on the opposing team took a bat to him after the game. His collar bone healed but the 90 mph slider never came back and it took most of his high school years for the physical therapy to get his knee back up to spec. Though never good enough for sports again, he got waived in his junior year for the Navy. Eleven months of working out for the SEAL fitness test, to be an EOD specialist like his grandfather, who had been the one of the few folks to stand by him after the assault along with his sister, Alicia. His dad had given up on him after finding out his boy wasn't superstar material. Matthew, happy to be the 'star' of the family, eagerly stepped into the role; while he realized he'd been just as bad as his dad at ignoring the important things. Family.

Gramps and Alica attended his graduation, dad was too busy running Matthew to a pitching camp to see the 'ex-jock' graduate 10th in his class and get an award for writing. Or to see him off to boot camp. Or be there to see him be accepted into EOD training straight out of Ordinance school. Dozens of little things. He was making sure to NOT do that to his sister, Matthew having pretty much blew off any attempts at reconciliation through most of Kyle's high school years and first deployment.

He finished training and was doing well as an Explosive Ordinance Disposal Tech; life was moving up as he met Jake, the first person he really felt for in any meaningful way. They were 'liberty buddies' and coworkers on the flight deck of the USS John C. Stennis. Till the day the accident happened. The day someone signaled the wrong signal and an E-2 on full power turned on them while they were working. Jake saw it and tried to shove him clear of the air blast, he almost made it. Kyle landed hard on a rack of missiles and every thing went black.

When he woke up there were three things he had to accept as reality: Jake was dead, hitting the side of the carrier's command level or 'island', killed instantly in the impact. He was terribly crippled with nerve damage to his left arm and his leg hip was crushed. His career in the Navy was done. Nineteen months of surgery and therapy later, he was mustered out with the rest of his service reenlistment bonus (SRB), medical retirement with 80% of 1st Class Petty Officer retirement pay for the rest of his life.

He went home, to try and make one last try with his father and brother, but ended up driving away in disgust as it was clear that his father was destroying Matthew in an attempt to measure up to the same impossible standard as he had started to with Kyle. Matthew refused to accept that when Kyle told him, calling him jealous that he was willing to do what it took. The argument that finished his relationship with his brother and father was inflammatory and final; he moved in with his sister in San Francisco where his sister had settled in after he'd paid her through college and wrote a lot of very well received short stories and one really good novel.

Offs:

Name: Rhea 'Twiceborn'
Age: 40 (20s apparent)
Gender: Female
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Race: Tiefling (Succubi heritage)
Racial Traits:  Prehensile Tail, Vestigal Wings
Link for ClassWizard, Evocation School; Admixture Subschool
Deities worshipped: Cayden Cailen
Appearance: Red skin, with tattoos over her arms and torso, with rings set in both her ears and on her curled horns. Her eyes are black with bright yellow irises that burn intensely when she is angry and long black hair she keeps in a braid.
Personality: Playful, a bit flirtatious and an apparent party girl who 'dabbles' in magic to hide her past as a student in the Academe; focused and serious when working or researching things. Intensely protective of her mother's family and kin.
Hobbies:  Writing articles for the Pathfinder Society, crafting scrolls and mixing drinks.
Skills:  Magic, specifically evocation and elemental magics; calligraphy and the study of magic, history, local events and history; languages (she speaks over a dozen)
Background:  Born of a nobleman and his local varisian merchant wife, Rhea was a child of privilege. Her grandfather spotted her gift for magic early on and taught her small magics and how to control her gifts. She had an excellent future in had, an engagement to a powerful noble family a scholarship at the most prestiguous magical school in the region. The puberty hit, and it wasn't like most folks as in addition to developing curves a bosom and such, she grew vestigial wings, a tail and horns with skin the color of dried blood during her third year at the school.

Needless to say, the revelation of her father's family having 'taint' made for difficult times, her grandfather went home to 'ease' things over with the other family. Their 'response' was to send his thigh bone back to the family, polished smooth and strengthened. She took it and left that night, disappearing into the city till she found a gypsy that recognized the one item her mother had left her before dying, an ancient scarf that belonged to her mother's family for a long time. With it and the gypsy's guidance, she found the merchant clan her mother had left behind to marry her father. The family took her in, despite her demonic appearance, and her grandmother taught her the secrets of magic that their family knew, including tattooing hidden spells on her body so that she always had a spellbook on hand written on the runes in the hidden tongue of her mother's people.

For decades she stayed with the family, tending to their needs and assisting her aunts and then her nieces in guiding the family but recently she's developed a bit of wanderlust and is wandering the lands looking for adventure before returning home to her kin with gifts for the children and coin for the family coffers.

Well I'm using a bit of the PFS world.. I hope you don't mind.. Rhea is a 'cub reporter' for the pathfinder society trying to get some of her research and history published. :d

Vergil1989

Lol I saw that, and I had a little laugh, but it's a clever idea.  ;D  This world was created by more than your DM, so I figure a few personal touches like that would be perfectly acceptable to me.  Why do you think I have a fantasy version of Nick Fury from the Marvel Universe acting as one of the honorary advisors to the Raywyn royal family?  Lol.

Anyway, I have more added to the world building thread, but my brain's starting to turn to mush, so feel free to give out suggestions to help fill out more of the world as you guys wish as LS has already done so with the Frostcap Isles.  Nice bit of lore for the area and his Steel Elves, that I made some slight edits to but the vast majority's still his.  Anyway, I'm trying to get the IC going, but it might not be done until tomorrow, we'll see if I can kick my muse into gear again.

Birchleaf

Ugh. I discover this thread only a few hours before I go on my own week of vacation, back next Sunday. Well, if this game is not ridiculously full by that time, and I am sure that it will be, given how amazing it looks, I will add my hat to the ring to play a super-duper munchkin mage played by that one annoying guy who always tries to game the system to silly degrees. The issue is that the DM knows that this guy will always try to pull crap, and that translates into the universe hating him once his character becomes reality (things always conspire to make him much less awesome than he thinks he is).

But, as I said, I am leaving to go on vacation, and this RP already looks full. I will simply be watching this thread, waiting for my chance to strike.

Vergil1989

Well, considering the Dungeon Master ends up as a block of ice in the IC post when things turn upside down, I don't think she'll have a lot of say in anything lol.  Jokes aside, I think we'll still have space for a couple people, especially since this isn't as popular as you might believe.  Only two people have gotten their characters fully put together, the rest still need to add stuff if not outright finish their profiles, and with me leaving in two days it'll be up to LS and whoever ends up being my second assistant to keep things going until I get back.  So chances are that you'll still be able to join by then, we'll see though.  I just hope I still have a game by then lol.  Anyway folks, LS is gonna be in charge while I'm gone, and as I've said before, it'll just be your characters adjusting to their new situation, getting acquainted with the locals, etc etc.  They might have an idea that there are things coming along in the not so distant future, but don't expect it to be easy.

Ever see Mass Effect?  Awesome series, crappy ending, but the point is, even with knowledge of the monsters and other threats in the future, getting people to believe you?  That ain't gonna be possible, but you're free to try.  In fact, I'd even go so far as to say I hope someone does, just so LS and myself can have some fun.   >:)  Jokes aside, that's just something to also consider as you all start to migrate towards the IC and OOC threads.  Anyway, see you around!

Hmm it's defiantly tempting although I have a few different Pokemon threads going atm and rl stuff. It has been an age since I gamed with Vergil though. My first instinct would be to play a guy who has to take his girlfriends character when he gets there, but then it seems there are already several people playing cross gender to female and already a tiefling cross gender to boot. Although a thought does pop in my head to go outside my normal box and play a girl who gets turned into a guy. Would even be funny to work it out with one of the other players where we were dating and had our sheets switched at the game😈

Vergil1989

Lol one hell of an oops, but I like the idea, and it's nice to see you Fox.  I got your PM, and I think you'll be fine to join.  My only concern is your guy's amulet thing.  What happens if it gets removed and he decides to murder the group?  That might not go over so well with everyone else lol.  That aside though, I like what I see, just want to clarify that and make sure it doesn't become an immediate problem or something.I

This is freeform, so I'm really accepting anything from Pathfinder, DnD, and other fantasy related worlds along those lines.  No Savage Worlds or anything like that, but a Paladin would be a nice idea of you ask me, but I'm cool with whatever you feel comfortable with.

Sounds good, maybe a paladin archetype somewhere out there, who worships the Goddess of Fertility (Especially Human Fertility)

5th edition more or less has you covered. 5E paladins are holy warriors bent on establishing justice and righteousness in the world... Buuuuut they can be of any alignment as well, meaning that the "evil" you fight can be strongly dependent on perspective. Of particular interest are the Sacred oaths (in 5E, each class has several options for different character paths, sort of like Pathfinder archetypes - for paladins these are your Oaths). In paticular, Oath of hte Ancients...
QuoteThe oath of Ancients is as old as the race of elves and rituals of druids.  Sometimes called fey knights, green knights, or horned knights, paladins who swear this oath cast their lot with the side of light in the cosmic struggle against darkness  because they love the beautiful and life-giving things of the world, not necessarily because they believe in principles of honor, courage, and justice. They adorn their armor and clothing with images of growing things-leaves, antlers, or flowers-to reflect their commitment to preserving life and light in the world.

TENETS OF THE ANCIENTS
The tenets of the Oath of the Ancients have been preserved for uncounted centuries. This oath emphasizes the principles of good above any concerns of law or chaos. Its four central principles are simple.
Kindle the Light. Through your acts of mercy, kindness, and forgiveness, kindle the light of hope in the world, beating back despair.
Shelter the Light. Where there is good, beauty, love, and laughter in the world, stand against the wickedness that would swallow all. Where life flourishes, stand against the forces that would render it barren.
Preserve Your Own Light. Delight in song and laughter, in beauty and art. If you allow the light to die in your own heart, you can't preserve it in the world.
Be the Light. Be a glorious beacon for all who live in despair. Let the light of your joy and courage shine forth in all your deeds.

I just downloaded a Paladin Homebrew under the Oath of Nudity from Dungeon Master's Guild...

And my original Paladin concept was a Fighter-Paladin-Warlock mix, who wields dual weapons... more for theme than actual practicality.

A blade bard, a mesmerist, a wizard of the evocation school, a rogue, a sorceress with dragon like traits, an arcanist, and we had a berserker, but that player dropped.  You'd be the last one I can accept, but we'd be happy to have you.

Also shadow, your class link isn't working.

la dame en noir

Btw, I'm interested.

its been YEARS since I've played DnD, so my character might take a bit of research for me to do it right. But, I am interested.

Hey all. Shadow fox I set you and Vergil my thoughts on your character. Looks good I would just like some clearifaction on a few things.

Relikai, paladin could be cool. Just remember this is not focused on sex so nudity as a moral focus might not work. Please feel free to send your ideas to Vergil and me though.

la dame en noir, feel free to jump in with a character idea and send to both Vergil and myself. Don't worry about what edition you pull from as I myself used a 2nd ed class/kit.

Relikai

The concept pushed by the author was focused on the glorification of the pure body :p

Anyway I'll be doing a fighter, dual wielder type.
