The Doomed Starship

A transport ship is en route for mars for a research program, and you are one of the lucky crew to be able to set foot on the first habitable spot on the red planet. Things start going wrong when the ship loses contact with Earth, their course changed unbeknownst to the captain. The ship crash lands on an asteroid, and most of the crew dies upon impact, some may still be on the ship but they are missing. Some areas of the ship have decompressed and are now inaccessible unless fixed. Food, water and oxygen is limited and what remains of the crew has to pull themselves together to salvage a rescue- That is of course, if the crew works together instead of against each other for resources. This your story, this is the story of the crew of CLS Cruiser 4300.

Description: Brown long hair, Brown eyes, Fit, Caucasian
Brief History: Carly was included in the crew after many recommendations from her professors at her university. She got into NASA's MICE (Mars Inhabitation Central Evaluation) program and was immediately put into training after the director of the program looked over her qualifications (Namely a masters in Electronics and Mechanics technology).

Name: Dr. Jessica Parker, Ph.D.
Age: 29
Description: Long, flowing red hair, crystal blue eyes, a lithe and curvaceous body, and nicely developed features.
Brief History: Enlisted in U.S. Air Force at the age of 18, recruited into the Officer Training Course.  At 22, began flying air missions against targets in the Middle East.  After racking up the flight hours, sent to Israel to help fly sorties in defense of renewed military action.  At 26, pulled from the Air Force into the NASA astronaut training program.  At 27, flew first space mission as flight specialist.  Assigned to the MICE Program as a flight specialist and navigation officer.

Name: Jacob Ivan Mochanov

Age: 44

Brief History: Jacob is a native of Kyrgyzstan, born and raised in Osh, though he moved to Moscow at 16.  He was recruited into the Russian space program after twenty years in their air force, making him one of the youngest cosmonauts ever at 37 years old.  Jacob specializes in navigation, aerodynamics, physics, and thermodynamics.  He was an assistant navigator aboard the spacecraft, one of several Russians in the crew.

Age: 20

Description:


Brief History: Kathy is a robotics expert. She's pretty good at repairing and maintaining robots and devices of all types, but she's even better at piloting them. She joined the program right out of high school, due to her amazing skills, and was brought aboard to pilot the unmanned vehicles that they were going to use for exploration, mining and other missions on the planet. The ship has a lot of robots for her to pilot, from the size of a mouse to that of a large dog, and many parts should she need to make more.

She is used to working in very confined environments, surrounded by machines, in hot conditions, and as such always wears very little, often spending days without putting a shirt on, simply going around in her cargo pants with a bra on. While she is not a soldier, and doesn't have a very strong body, she did take the time to go through some martial art classes and always carries a knife in a holster on her pants.

Age: 35
History:  An ex-military combat technician, Marcus signed up for the MICE project to start a new life.  He's had training with both technical repairs and mechanical, though no experience with robotics or cybernetics.  Wounded twice during combat, one of his injuries resulted in him losing his right arm; the military replaced it with a bionic one that performs all of the functions a normal arm could  with the addition of being able to shut off pain receptors and maintain a grip indefinitely.

Name: Ziggy Kingston

Age: 27

Brief History: Hydroponics expert by training, Fast talker by trade.  Ziggy was brought aboard to control the ships garden and manage the ships food stores.  He learned most of his trade working for his fathers business back on earth were he helped supply vat grown vitamin enriched food to impoverished nations.  After a large disagreement with his father wanting to try to squeeze more money out of the poor, Ziggy signed up to come aboard and the rest is history. Although a thinker and a scientist he can handle himself in a combat situation from his years going in and out of slums with the valuable sustenance of the paupers lives.

Name: Capt./Dr. Jacqueline “Jackie” Crane, MD
Age: 34
Description:

Brief History: Jackie grew up in a family with a long history in the military.  Her father was a decorated Air Force Colonel.  Mother abandoned them when she was 10. 

A very disciplined student, Jackie went to school at the Air Force academy and was a natural pick for the M.I.C.E program.  She has had to work in combat hot zones in all sorts of conditions.  Pressure situations are not a problem.

So, question:  When are we starting the game, before they've boarded the ship or as it's crashing (or even after)?  If we set the start before the incident, it would give time to introduce characters and let them get to know one another.

Good question. It's up to applesauce but I would think just before, maybe in time to do 2 or 3 posts before crashing, indicating where each of us is for the crash.

I never said anything about crude oil, only the Middle East.  Even after the oil is gone, the entire place is a hotbed of religious zealots trying to kill one another.  Peacekeeping missions wouldn't be uncommon, especially if a country such as Iraq became another local favorite of the US, just like Israel is.  Do I still need to modify my character?
