Also for those disappointed they won't be investigating the cult now, you'll get your chance later, Kyle just prioritised the reports over the rumours for his team's mission.

Revelation

Oh! Star wars Eberron and Ravenloft! Those shall be interesting.

I had a feeling this game was quite D&D inspired - Kyuss is a bit of an iconic villain in the overall D&D mythos afterall. What better for Jedi to test their mettle against, than an evil godlike being?

Captain Whitebread

<facepalm>  I can't believe I missed the TSR reference, especially given the names of the planets.

PLEASE do Ravenloft properly.   So many people suck at that setting.  I will also do my best to keep player knowledge and character knowledge separate.

Hmmm..  We're travelling between solar systems on a ship, using a specific media to bridge vast distances...We're playing SPELLJAMMER!

I'll be quite now.

Most of my knowledge comes from my time playing and GMing the 3rd party D&D 3.0 release of the game, although I also have a couple of AD&D Ravenloft supplements and the internet to draw lore from as well.

That said, it will have changed even further to fit with the Star Wars cosmology, but let me know if there's anything you think is essential that I should feature :)

Captain Whitebread

Ravenloft is a Gothic horror setting when done properly.  You can never beat Ravenloft.  You can only survive it and rarely escape it.  The Lords of the various lands are essentially untouchable and should be looming threats that you dread ever encountering (but never should).

I'm going to have a quick look through my Ravenloft stuff and see if I can find anything that would make for an interesting area to investigate..

Revelation

I think the more existential dread and gothic horror of Ravenloft doesn't quite jive 1:1 with the Star wars feeling, I think horror does have a solid place in star wars, but doing it exactly the way ravenloft does might not work for the best. That's just my thoughts as a player, though.

Captain Whitebread

Given the possibility to fall to the Dark Side, there are parallels in the fall to the Mists.

Revelation

Oh, i'm not saying there aren't, there are certainly parallels in both settings. But one of the closest examples of a potential darklord in the SW setting (Vader) could be redeemed, which I think shows a difference between SW and Ravenloft, where villains can be redeemed and good can win. Tragic ones at least - i'm certainly not going to argue that someone like Palpatine is capable of redemption, as there is pure evil in the SW setting too. Though of course, I have nothing against a more horror-centric adventure in SW, even one where the PC's don't win as much as they survive.

Captain Whitebread

I'm a fan of good horror.  The problem is, too many people equate that with gore, rather than making your own mind do all the work.

Revelation

As am I. Good horror can be quite tricky to do in some settings, i'd say a jedi focused story with some horror will be interesting to say the least.

Conversely, Eberron is without a doubt my favorite D&D setting. I am curious to see that when we get there!

Revelation

A new sort of droid with souls, perhaps? Afterall, Warforged are quite different compared to the standard golems of other settings.

I'm imagining a planet with a strong connection to the force, where perhaps there aren't as many Jedi equivalents but people use the force in all sorts of tasks or things, as magic does take he place of technology quite a bit in Eberron. Just conjecture, though.

Captain Whitebread

Ah... perhaps the Iron Knights then.  Or droids old enough to be sentient.

LSWSjr

I'm planning on them being a mix of the Iron Knights and Vong Biotech.

Togashi

You know I'm hoping to see what Athas and Oerth are going to be like. I think this is going to be a lot of fun. But Ravenloft is going to be one I'm concerned with. Especially as the undead, vampires, and were-creatures, are a major part of the plot.

Captain Whitebread

Not to mention shapeshifters, fallen paladins who think they are holy and women who think the only unlimited material in the galaxy is the lies of men.....

Togashi

Maybe it'll be like Dathomir or Korriban, places of significant power for the Dark Side.

LSWSjr

Sorry folks, bedridden at the moment, but I'll move the plot forward in another day or two :)

Is it too late to join?

and can I get some help starting out?

I've been playing D&D5E, and while this seems similar, it sounds a bit different in ways...

Like I can't find weapon feats in the Feats section, other than Exotic(which sounds fun for later.)

I have a copy of the Rulebook, I just need some help translating it and what I can do.

Well what do you mean by weapon feats?

Like the Armor Feats: You can wear Blankety-Blank Armor without penalty.

I plan to play a Human, so I want to get the Light Armor Feat and a Weapon Feat(Ranged most likely)

Togashi

Page 82 of the Sagas Core Rulebook has Armor Proficiency feats.  As for weapons page 89 has Weapon Proficiency and then you must specify what you're proficient with. For example Weapon Proficiency(Pistols) to use blaster pistols, or Weapon Proficiency(Rifles) to be able to use rifles and so on. It lists things that you can select from.
