Only a first-level deed... need to take actual levels of Gunslinger to get more deeds, I believe (did not find anything after researching), kinda like you need to take levels of wizard to get 2nd-level spells :P

Sethala

So unfortunately, I kinda picked a bad time to start this up, with being busy getting ready for the holidays at home and getting ready for Black Friday at work (yay retail?), I haven't really had time to start this up and I probably can't get it rolling until after Thanksgiving.

But in the meantime, more planning.  I thought about it today and realized I'd like to have some kind of threat beyond just other hunters at a recent worm sighting, and thought that kobolds may fit the bill.  So, to expand on the world a bit:

Many kobold tribes still live on the world below, unable to craft the sky-cities on their own, and those living on the cities unwilling to let an entire tribe on their floating land.  While a few notable kobolds have managed to work their way into the cities, the majority have decided to start worshiping the giant worms, seeing any valuables unearthed by the worms as belong to them and them alone, and willing to fight to the death against anyone else who comes to claim them.

Of course, other beasties are roaming around, and some gather around where worms were seen last, especially when the kobolds aren't present

Anyway, with that bit planned out, I'd like to come up with more ideas of how you guys are all working together (or even if you're all working together), and what kind of adventures you'd be doing.  Feel free to come up with any ideas you can think of, even if you're not sure if they'll fit in the world; I can't guarantee I'll add them in, but it'll give me more ideas.

@Shadow: Sounds good, a water goddess would likely have people praying to her to bring rain and/or find an oasis in this world.

@Muse: I think if anyone takes the amateur gunslinger feat and then gains a level in gunslinger, I'll let them retrain it for any feat, not just extra grit.

Heh, as always, expected level of erotic content?

Sethala

Not really sure, it depends on what the players are interested in.  I'm always up for "as much as possible" if the players want, but I don't see things going too crazy here.

They do, but those usually end up as mechanically bad. I just used the lifepath generator to get different sort of background than what I'd usually write.

ShadowFox89,

Oh, I wasn't criticizing you, I'm just astonished at the amount of work people are willing to put into such things. Hopefully it means that the art of RP still has a long life ahead of it.

If you want a simple but fairly flexible framework for the campaign, you could imagine something reminiscent of Shadowrun. The players could be mercenary adventurers who are hired by a corporation/guild/other organization up in the cloud city to perform some dangerous mission down on the surface. At 6th level we're all fairly competent at what we do and could have established enough of a reputation that we'd at least be known to each other, even if all of us hadn't worked together before. If there are any characters that don't readily fit that model then they could be attached to the group for the first mission at the direct request of whoever is hiring us, perhaps to make use of some special skill or capability.

The advantage of this, of course, is that it makes it easy for you to wind us up and point us toward an adventure. It also makes it easy to change up the composition of the group if someone drops out or someone new wants to join. You'd probably want some fairly expensive means of transportation from the cloud city down to the surface -- something too expensive for any of us to own, but provided on loan by the company hiring us. That means we have to work together and at least all meet up at the extraction point. It also means we can fall into deeper trouble when our ride home doesn't show up for some reason.

That is some powerful bad luck you've got there, EFA.

EroticFantasyAuthor

This time it is, last time I did character generation rolls for two characters I think I only rolled below 14 twice.

Sethala

Thanks for the ideas Ebb, that could work.

And EFA, go ahead and reroll those if you want.

What roles is the current party missing?

I think the main thing we're missing is a frontliner who can take the pain and not fall easily.

EDIT: We may lack a trapfinder as well, though how important that is depends solely on the DM.

Voicing interest into this. I may roll up a barbarian (a some kind surface native guy who works part time as guide). Now using random life path generator;

Quote
Origins

You were born in the wild lands, beyond the bounds of what most consider civilization. You were raised by close family members: grandparents, an aunt/uncle, or similar. They belonged to some military organization: career soldiers, mercenaries, or brigands. All of them met with misfortune, unjustly imprisoned for some crime.
Siblings

You have the following siblings:

An adopted younger brother that you still keep in touch with, but you're not particularly close.
An adopted younger brother that you have lost touch with.
An older brother that you still keep in touch with, but you're not particularly close.
An older sister that hates you for some past transgression.

Appearance

You favor garb suitable for sailors or pirates. Yarr! You wear your hair long and braided or tied in a ponytail. You routinely wear body paints, makeup or other decorations that set you apart.
Important Events

You have experienced the following important events:

  • An incapacitating accident left you laid up for several months.
  • You made a friend, a teacher, religious advisor or mentor. They have some influence with a gang, a guild, or other larger group.
  • You made an enemy, someone you worked for. You're both equally annoyed with each other. They are an important figure both locally and
beyond the immediate area. One of you gave the other the cold shoulder.
  • You spent several months engaged in formal study, sharpening your wits.
  • Through constant, hard labor, you developed a stronger physique.

Hmmm, how 'outlaw' concept would work in this setting? My guy and his family lived off in wilderness but they were bandits (raided trains by stolen flight devices or gliders or hot air balloon ambush). His family were successful but eventually got caught and he fell from the sky onto ground (his whole body was quite broken). But he was nurtured life by a preacher (of some god/goddess) who became his friend and influenced him to stop being bandit and try find decent living.

He worked for some influential guy but the guy was a ass and he blew off a important job because of annoyance (definitely chaotic neutral here), class wise I am thinking barbarian/rogue or some hybrid of the two. Overall a muscle guy who is also quite smart and may had multiclassed as he trained long time to become smarter.

Rolls

At 2013-11-29 11:27:53, Zaer Darkwail (uid: 14) rolls: 4d6k3 Result: 12
At 2013-11-29 11:27:50, Zaer Darkwail (uid: 14) rolls: 4d6k3 Result: 8

Above are plain sucky, re-rolling.

At 2013-11-29 11:29:11, Zaer Darkwail (uid: 14) rolls: 4d6k3 Result: 15
At 2013-11-29 11:29:08, Zaer Darkwail (uid: 14) rolls: 4d6k3 Result: 11

At 2013-11-29 11:28:56, Zaer Darkwail (uid: 14) rolls: 4d6k3 Result: 10

Better but still lukewarm. Rolling again third time.

At 2013-11-29 11:29:58, Zaer Darkwail (uid: 14) rolls: 4d6k3 Result: 15
At 2013-11-29 11:29:55, Zaer Darkwail (uid: 14) rolls: 4d6k3 Result: 15
At 2013-11-29 11:29:52, Zaer Darkwail (uid: 14) rolls: 4d6k3 Result: 11
At 2013-11-29 11:29:50, Zaer Darkwail (uid: 14) rolls: 4d6k3 Result: 15
At 2013-11-29 11:29:46, Zaer Darkwail (uid: 14) rolls: 4d6k3 Result: 14
At 2013-11-29 11:29:43, Zaer Darkwail (uid: 14) rolls: 4d6k3 Result: 8

Now lots better although lacking +16 or other for main stat. But can live with one bad score (likely goes to charisma). All 15 go to physical stats and 14 to Int and 11 to wisdom. Now question to be either half-orc barbarian or human.

EroticFantasyAuthor

Thank you for the reroll  :-)

As for front line combatant, as of yet no concepts are really springing to mind so I may not go that route, which should work out just fine if Zaer'll be playing a barbarian.

Faeli

I am interested as well, although people keep beating me to saying that!  But please let me know if and when you have an opening, okayfine?  :)

Zaer Darkwail

So far as I know there is spot opening and there is no harm in submitting a char.

What classes do we have so far?

Edit: Arcane Archer Cleric, Ranger, Gunslinger(Pistolero), Bard, Sniper, Investigator, Wizard(Spellslinger), Gunslinger(Bushwhacker)/Magus, Oracle (Water Deity), Druid, and Barbarian.

Does that list look correct? Is there any I missed?

Ghostwheel

The bushwacker ended up actually being ~87% Magus :P
