DId you guys know that I'm totally free to pick my own message icon to set beside the title of my post? Can you believe that? If I wanted I could throw an exclamation mark up there and, regardless of quality, you would have to live with it! Crazy. This place has no boundaries.

Anyway, there was the promised "general rambling" I'm hoping to keep the rest of this relatively focused on what we in the business have generally labelled as "plot thought."

Because I Don't Need No Introduction

Get it? Because some people say they "need no introduction." It's funny because it's a double...negative... You aren't laughing? Damn it. I thought I nailed that one.

Anyway, my name isn't Elijia. However, because I am a master of deception, that's what I named my account and you can feel free to go with that. I'm a medium quality writer with a medium quality grasp of general plot development and narrative evolution, and a less than medium sense of humour. I'm looking for a few people to roleplay with because I love writing, and that's what people do here. usually very well if the advertising isn't completely fallacious (feel free to read that as fellatious). I can spell at least as well Microsoft Word and while I'm not the kind of person who views grammatical inconsistencies as a moral violation akin to double homicide though I do generally ascribe to it's overlying philosophies. I like to write characters with flowery and generally overwritten introductions because I was always taught that making a good introduction when meeting a person was important, but I'm not one of those monsters who chooses to front load their effort. I'm also sick of trying to sell myself in a self-deprecating manner so I'm going to move on.

Oh! Also, I have an on/off section. It's generally all on's, with the off's implied (because I'm too much of a pushover to strongly lay out things I don't like) but a link is in my signature. You are free to read it, it's a free country. Unless you're in a country that isn't free. In that case, don't read it, I suppose. It isn't worth your freedom.

Plots

Oh. Well. You see, my introduction was so overwritten because I really didn't have anything awesome to go here and I was stalling for time while I wrote. Turns out that wasn't a great strategy, so the overall quality of this missive is about to take a dip. It's a shame, but that's life.

Universes Someone Smarter Than Me Created

Did you know that the world is full of amazing people who have created incredible worlds for us to explore through the consumption of media and the infinite expanses of our own imaginations? Crazy, right? I'm going to use this section to discuss some of the ones I would like to explore in a shared creative space crafted out of a combination of our amazing imaginations. Well, your amazing imagination and my medium good imagination.

As an aside, I really didn't lay out any of the characters from these universes to use as *pairings.* I'm not totally averse to that sort of thing, but you're a smart person (and I can fake it) so I thought why not make our own characters? We're already freeloading on some creative geniuses imagine world, we don't need to hit them with the double indignity of refusing to even invest enough energy to build a new sort of character with which to explore it. Or just...like...sin in it. I don't know. This explanation is getting away from me.

Firefly: Because who doesn't love exploring themes of defiance, exploration, and the pursuit of freedom in the face of a homogenizing regime? Right? Just me? Really...

Sword Art Online: This is, sincerely, the only Anime I've ever watched. I like the questions it raises and it seems like it would be fun to explore. Probably not going to be popular, but this is my damn thread and if I want to write about it, I can. So there.

Choose Your Own Adventure: Not actually the beloved "Choose Your Own Adventure" universe, which is actually a complex mishmash of universes, if memory serves, but an invitation to do a bit of world building! Do you have a wonderful world you've created that you want to explore? The outline for one? A hankering to dig in and create one? Get at me and we can make that happen.

Wow, I thought I had more. I don't consume a lot of media set in interesting and amazing alternative universes, I guess. Feel free to suggest anything you like though! I'm not afraid to talk things over and the worst I can say is no! I probably won't even say that, I'll probably just mumble away and suggest something else to avoid the confrontation of saying no, because I'm a man and that's how I handle problems.

History? Hell Yes

Seriously folks. History is awesome. I love it. Do you know how many places there are on earth? Like, a zillion. On top of that, we even have, like, 40,000 years to play with here. That's a lot of time in which all kinds of stuff happened. We can even invent stuff that didn't happen in certain times too, because our minds give us that power.

Age of Exploration: Also the time of pirates, I suppose. But that's more played out. I have a bit of a maritime kick to me, so I'd love to explore this era and it's themes with someone. There are tons of ways that we could take it, and tons of plots that are available. There are lots of female pirates, cliche governor's somethings scenarios, stow-away and other "pairings" as well as more involved plots that could be explored.

Reconquista: Hi, relgious tension? My name is Elijia, I'd like to explore you. The amazing diversity represented by tri-religious Spain would be great to explore. Tons of chances to look at inter-faith relationships and scandal, political machinations. What ever you like.

Italian City States: Did you know that Italy is a cool place? There were *relatively* young popes that could be made younger for the sake of plot development who got up to all kinds of mischief. Doge's in Venice, and banker families in Florence who got into all kinds of mischief. We can even mix and match this stuff, the Renaissance was insane. Lots of opportunity for threads that look at issues like familial duty versus plain ol' physical attraction, general intrigue, political machinations, treachery and temptation. People like that stuff, right? Borgias AND the Tutors touch on this stuff and people watch the crap out of them. I'm sure this has at least some appeal.

Gilded Age: Welcome to the America's coming of age. I'm not American, so you probably know more than I do, but this is an era of would be revolutionaries, political upheaval, proto-socialist and anarchist antagonizing and major racial tension. Tons of plot fuel! Up and coming politician disgraced? Two revolutionaries fall for each other? Something about something else? I'm all ears for this sort of timeline. Many, many interesting people and interesting things to explore.

Roaring 20's: Music! Art! Surrealism! Noun! People know all about this age. Plenty of people who I know for a fact have never read Gatsby host dinner parties with this theme so I know you know the motif. I think it's an interesting, desperate and mixed up time with lots of stuff to work with. Ever read Fitzgerald's books? This is the time to look at those sorts of themes.

Modern: When I get around to posting more details plots, they'll probably fall more into this area than the others. Obviously, this is our lived experience. Lets create opportunities to explore other spaces. I'm interested in all of those artist/muse, workplace whatevers and academic themed plots people love to kick the tires on. I'll have more details later, but if you have something you want to kick around, let me know!

Futuristic: The future will, likely, bring a lot. This can be split into three "streams" as far as I see.

1. Post-Apocalytpic: Zombie, Meteor, Virus, world-wide potato famine, whatever. This is rich for exploration and general fun. I'm open to kicking the tires here.

2. Utopian: What does the future hold in a positive way? Can we create sexual cyborgs? Virtual Realities? Time travel? What ever you like we can explore.

3. Dystopian: Global Empire(s?) have us down? Robot overlords? Resource Scarcity? Genetic mutation? Lots of ways we could hoist ourselves on our own...whatever we hoist ourselves on. I'd love to explore this.

Anyway, that's what I have for now. I'm going to do the humane thing and post a few genuine plots, but if any of my ideas (or if you're crazy and I, as a writer, catch your fancy) just PM me and we can figure something out!

Did you notice that none of those are actual plots? It's really just a big list of potential plot settings. Man, I'm a real scumbag for making you read all of that under false pretenses aren't I?

How boring is that signature? Here is a fun word: Architecture. Try it, it feels great.

Elijia

You wouldn't know it to look at it, but I tidied things up a bit and made a few minor additions.

More to come!
