There is an island...  An island far at the edge of the map...  Some say it is a cursed place, filled with cursed peoples...  Some say it is a paradise, the only place where a person can truly be free and their own person...  Some say it is a parasite, a disease that must be wiped clean from the map...  It is an island of castaways, the dregs of society.  Pirates...  Exiles...  Mercenaries...  Slaves...  Outcasts from the world...  The undesirables...  The Damned...

Launched in September of 2014, Isle of the Damned is a free-form, sandbox group set in a fictional fantasy world.  While there has already been some in-character posts, both in the present time in the story as well as history, we're still in the first few days of the story!  This means that it's really easy and simple to jump right on in!

Don't worry about having to read every single in character post.  Since this is a low fantasy story, set on an isolated island, it'd be relatively easy to just get off a ship in the harbor and come right in to the action of the village.  Time is a bit open, with the present time frame set in the span of three days.  Why is this?  To allow everyone a chance to post, while not being stuck waiting on a scene, as well as to keep things moving between characters.  No one is forced to stick to one day, only to move on to the next by GM Prompt.  There's three days to completely interact before the story is moved on to the next group of days.

For now, the story will primarily be set on Effugios, the island which this story is set, as well as the open waters.  If there is a large demand, and a large group base, the story could very well be expanded to include other areas, such as the other kingdoms.  This is a world scale type story, and for now it is going to be focused on the island of Effugios until there is a significant need for it to be expanded beyond the surrounding waters.  That being said, the island is going to be quite large and expansive.  There are hundreds of acres of jungle, caves and coves, a few cays and small islands, a mountain (that may or may not be a volcano), old forts and abandoned castles, etc.

This is an extreme-set story!  By no means does this mean you should turn away.  It's put into extreme to allow the maximum creativity with writers, instead of having them limited in, say, light or non-con.  With that said, everything that happens should be set up consensually between writers.  Forced and non-con scenes are completely allowed, but we won't tolerate them forced onto other writers.  We don't have the IC threads split into story, and naughty threads.  This is to keep everything flowing, and everything organized, instead of having to jump to thread to thread just to keep up with the story!

Magical characters are allowed!  However, please keep in mind that magic is a dying force in the world.  What does this mean?  If you have a magical character, their abilities should be weakened.  You must demonstrate some sort of flaw with your character's ability to get approval.  We're not allowing super-strength humans that are indestructible.  Feel free to check out the characters in the Game Info thread for further information!

When it comes to weapons, we are allowing some firearms.  HOWEVER...  The way the world is set up, powder (called Dragon Powder in character) is highly and extremely volatile.  It's considered by many to be far too dangerous and cursed for some.  A few ships refuse to have it aboard, preferring to keep to their catapults and scorpions and other improvised explosives (i.e. Molotov cocktails) as their primary weaponry in naval combat.

There is currently a limit of FOUR characters per writer.  We are most definitely LGBTQ friendly. 

You're more than welcome to create your character's own, unique religion and culture!  The Shattered Islands is a large, and expansive area of the map that is essentially open to world building. 

The Wiki is still a work in progress, but the Game Information section holds a great deal of information to help get you started, listing the various religions that are popular, the animal and creature life of the world, the various countries and lands beyond the sea, as well as the approved characters and past characters.

There will be GM Pushed events in the story!  You don't have to be a part of the events, but you're more than welcome to participate.  We've got a lot in mind and a lot planned as a way to not only tell the story, but to get people involved as well.  These events may be limited to a specific area, may be island-wide, or even world-wide.  They'll vary and will be different.

If you're interested, please send a character sheet to GnothiSeauton for approval.  Non-magical characters are easier to process, and take a shorter time to review, whereas magical characters need a bit more discussion between the GMs to review and discuss.  It's rare that we say no to anyone.  We may ask that you rework something, notably abilities of a magical creature, but we are more than willing to try and work with you to get your character going and approved!

GM Events

Here is where a general history and catalog of GM Events will be recorded.  Some are story arcs, and some are mere preludes to later events.  Each event, if taking place over multiple GM Posts, will show the appropriate links to following the GM Posts.

A Public Hanging in Effugios - GM Event:  Major story arc.  Taking place in the Village, Harbor, and Southern Beach thread.  Optional, and open to all in the vicinity of the town square.  A Malum Military Commander is hanged in public after secret plans come to light involving the dangerous future of the island.  Event takes place on the 1st of Summer.

Something Fishy Going On - GM Event:  This is a prelude to a future story, and centered on one post.  Taking place in the Open Waters thread.  A merchant ship is attacked and sank by a large and terrifying creature of the deep.  Event takes place on the 1st of Summer.

Rumble in the Jungle:  Part One, The Disappearance of Hannah Prescott:  Part one of a two part large event.  This event follows the disappearance of a young woman, the daughter of one of the richest merchants on the island, and the search for her.  A high reward has been placed for her safe return, bringing all sorts of characters in to the search in the hopes of making a quick break.  Event takes place on the evening of the 3rd of Summer, to the evening of the 5th of Summer.

Rumble in the Jungle:  Part Two, Fight Night:  Part two of a two part large event.  This event is centered around the grand opening of the new and improved Fighting Pits, located in the Jungle.  Opened by Lorehn of the Pits, and the Lord Gareon Drakaras, the grand opening is being marked by a grand series of fights, designed to unite the citizens of the island and promote unity and tranquility in the recent difficult times.

August 1st Event:  An upcoming event that is scheduled to launch on the 1st of August, 12:01 A.M, Eastern Standard Time.  This is the largest event to take place in the game, and will effect nearly everyone.

This is a crew comprised mostly of former slaves and those who wish to seek a life free from oppression and suppression, a great deal of whom are women.  Originally a slave ship, a slave revolt, led by Lora Langstor overcame the brutal slavers and turned the ship into their own kingdom upon the seas.  Largely targeting slave ships and merchants, the Raven has a bit of a reputation as being known as liberators.  Hardly ever do they turn away those wishing employ or passage.

Also how would a character who uses magical artifacts, but he no direct offensive or defensive magic of his own be acceptable?

I don't want to cause you any unease Gnothi. I'll say this before I even get a character sheet worked up if you're not happy. I will completely respect that and I will work on the character until you are.

I'm planning to play the character without any twists or turns. He'll consider himself a craftsman and an artisan, probably be quite full of himself as a result and be dedicated to his work. He's coming to the islands because he senses an opportunity to sell his wares and improve his skills still further. I read on the canon, hence the suggestion that he's an armourer rather than a gunsmith. It adds strings to his bow and makes him a bit easier for people to live with. I'll get you a character sheet worked up and we can take it from there. How does that suit you?

My idea revolves around a former soldier, a woman who was pretending to be a man, in order to command the respect and rank that she felt she deserved.  However, she was found out and had to flee in order to escape retribution from her regiment, as well as possible legal ramifications.  She's on the island now, working as a sell-sword and still pretending to be a man, because...well...she's comfortable in that role, and women don't command as much respect.

Do you think that idea could work?  I realize there would need to be some more work done with it, and it would be difficult to explain how she pulled off the ruse for even enough time to gain training as a soldier.

There's no established religion in the world that would match up perfectly with it.  You could recreate it, under a different name, but similar beliefs, as it's own religion.

Go your own pace, the best part about these larger games are that you can tell your own story. So try to find others who seem fun to write with and set something up with them.

Okay, so, there's a few things to keep in mind, and a few tips on how to get started.  It might seem really daunting and intimidating, given the number of writers and the sheer scope of things, but it's really not that bad!

With the issue of time, the In Character Dates are stretched to three days.  I know some prefer to keep everyone together on the same day, but with a three day window, this is to keep people active and not, say, restrained by having to wait for a GM Post or another writer.  You don't have to go in order with regards to the dates, but it's strongly advised to sort of keep track of everything and not get too far ahead of yourself.

What I usually do, when getting into a group game, and it's something I've advised others who are new to it, is to begin by writing for yourself.  Throw up an introduction post to your character somewhere, and use it as a sort of advertisement.  Show who they are and what they are, their personality, a little preview of them.  You can post it, and take the link to that post, and put it in, say the OOC or the Classified Thread, and say "Hey, this is my character.  Look how awesome they are.  Anyone want to write with me?"  It might not be instantaneous, but it works, from past experiences.  You might have to do a couple of posts, but it can definitely be worth it.

And don't be afraid to sort of check in with other writers and reach out to them to see if a particular character of theirs might be interested in working out a scene or shared history.  There's a few GM NPCs as well that are around, and can be used to work in scenes or get stuff going.  There's one, a tavern owner, who is sort of a middleman who can provide jobs and connect individuals if needed. 

We actually have a great collection of writers who are really easy going and are fun to work with.  It's not too difficult, especially now that the holidays are over, to try and find someone to write with.

When it comes to having to read up on past posts (which, I wouldn't recommend trying to read them all, since we're approaching 300 IC Posts), I'd stick to GM Events and a few recent ones, just to get an idea and feel of what's going on at the present and what might have people talking. 

All of the information links, including the OOC, Game Information (and character sheets), and Classified Threads are all listed up in the very top of this thread.

I'm interested, but I have to admit, the scale is daunting. Any advice for someone unfamiliar with larger group sandbox games? I've only ever done games with somewhat strict moderation.

Communication and focus.

First thing to note; the scale is as large as you want it to be. Take my character (Agnar) for example. Right now I'm directly interacting with one of BP's characters and Josi's character (through an NPC) while also keeping an eye on one of Gnothi's characters who Agnar's set up to interact with later. And that's all I have to focus on. I also read the other stuff but I don't strictly have to... at most I have the glance over the tags to see if my character appears.

So whenever things feel overwhelming, focus on what you need to.

Communication is always important in games but never more so than in stories like this. Be it in the OOC thread, the plotting thread or by PM the easiest way to avoid feeling left out is to talk to others; we all want to interact our characters with others (it's why we're here after all) and while circumstances may not always mean we're able to we'll generally be happy to discuss it. Whether you want to build an existing relationship with another character, work out how you're going to be introduced or try to set up something for the future communication is the key; the Agnar/Cerys scene and relationship came about from little more than a few posts in the OOC thread when it wasn't something I'd originally foreseen happening. I like to think we're a friendly bunch (OOC at least...) and we'll generally be happy to help.

So whenever you're wondering what to do next, reach out and someone will likely help you.

Closing and Opening of Dates, or Keeping the Crazy Train Rolling!

Hey everyone!

Been a while since the last GM Announcement (not sure if that's a good thing or not), and now it's time for a new one!

Starting on Sunday, February 15th, at 12:01 a.m. est, we will be moving ahead with the IC dates.  At that time, the 1st will no longer be active, and the 4th and 5th of the IC dates will be open.  This means that the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th, will all be open.  Two new days to explore and...

A new event launching that will inevitably lead to the third event (which I'm really, really, excited for with all of the action).

What does this mean for characters with scenes taking place on the 1st, or characters that have scenes planned for the 1st?

The 1st will still be open for writing, BUT we ask that you take your scenes over to the History and Past section.  For example, Howling and I have a scene going on on the first with two characters.  When the deadline comes on the 15th, it will be continued over in the History and Past section instead of the Village and Harbor thread.  If, say, I wanted to do another scene on the first, and it's past the deadline, I'd go over and put it in the History and Past thread.  You can still write scenes and such for the first!  It's just requested that on the fifteenth of February, it gets moved over into the History and Past section.

Why are we doing this?  Just to keep things moving and get some stuff going.

Country/Kingdom of Birth:  Tyr

Age:  Thirty years of age.

Physical Description:  Among her peers, Cabyria woman of considerable height at five foot ten.  Her harsh beauty is often obscured by blood, sweat, and blood from her days at work being a slave.  She does clean up well, however, when her Master desires her for pleasure.  Long dark blonde hair hangs down to the middle of her back, with cold eyes that have been known to be the last thing a great many have seen in the heat of battle.  Years of experience as a slave and fighter have left her body covered in various scars and nicks from battle, along with the lash marks upon her back.  The back of her left shoulder holds various marks and brands of her former masters and owners.

Personality:  Years of servitude under various Masters and Madams have hardened Cabyria into one of the more tough and demanding slaves on the Island.  It has often been said that she is a Master Among Slaves, a harsh and demanding slave who calls for nothing short of the best from her fellows in bondage.  To other slaves, she is brutal, pushing and bullying the others with the alpha-type personality to exert her dominance upon them.  Yet...  Though she is harsh to her fellow slaves, earning more fear than friends, to her Masters, she is nothing but a loyal and devoted slave. 

Slavery is something she yearns for in her heart.  It is not submissiveness.  Rather, it is the simplicity of life and the ease of it, which has drawn her into her slavery.  As a Slave, she is something.  She has a purpose and value.  She has power over others,and is not afraid to use it.  If she were free, Cabyria knows it would not be the same.  She would be a woman, a woman devalued and looked down upon.  Slavery has given her a life and purpose that she would not be able to find in her freedom.

Profession:  Slave.  Pit Fighter.

History:  Born into slavery as a baby, slavery has been all Cabyria has known.

As a newborn, she and her mother were sold into slavery from the Tyrian coasts.  It was on the way to Effugios to be sold that her mother passed, leaving her to be raised by a multitude of various older slave women.  She was born and raised as a house slave on the island, until the time came for her to be pressed into the fields.  She never once complained.  That was how life was in her eyes.

When her former Master was in debt, she was sold to another Master, one who trained slaves for fighting.  She learned how to fight, using a variety of weapons and weaponry, earning the respect and fear of others in the pits.  She was told to fight, and the dedicated and loyal slave fought.  Fought as hard as she could, no matter the stakes, and showed no mercy.  When, in a fight with another slave, she killed her opponent in a fight that was supposed to be nothing more than training.  As a result, and to pay the debt she had caused, she was given to a new master:  The man known as Korik.

Her brutality and savagery in the Pits and in the Fields, were rewarded and praised.  It was at the hands of the former great fighter of the pits that she learned from him, learned how to be a better fighter, and better slave.  She was given fights, larger fights, better fights, fights a warrior like her could only dream about.

It was in another supposed fight when she was lost to another Master, this time when Korik could not arrive at the contest, and forfitted the match.  As a result, she was transferred into the hands of the older, weaker Master...  A master who, for the few years since, has wasted her talents.  She competes in small matches, when she is allowed to fight at all, for she often makes mincemeat of the inferior slaves.  The Master fears losing her, and the investment she is.  She is now a worker in the fields of the plantation, an overseer and yearning to once again be made into the proper warrior she was made to be.

Religion:  She belongs to no religion.

Weapons:  As a slave, Cabyria carries no weapons.  However, in the pits, she makes use of whatever she is given.  Her weapon of choice is a sword.

Sexuality:  Though she is heterosexual, she will partake in lesbian and bisexual activities, when commanded and when to exert her dominance.

She's a female slave and prized fighter who is looking to have a submissive male slave of her own.  Not looking for an equal in terms of strength and size.  I'd prefer a character who is a little smaller, a little weaker, and fearfully submissive of her.

That could be interesting!  If you need any help, just feel free to ask.

A few things to keep in mind though, with regards to magic...

1.  Magic is dying, or near dead, in the world.  Abilities must be fairly weak, with a negative thing towards them working (i.e. a major amount of concentration, intense physical pain from the user, etc).
2.  Our world inspired magic is allowed, but keep in mind that this is a completely different world, completely separate from our world.

It's not too hard to start.  It definitely seems like it would, given the amount of characters involved, the number of posts (close to seven hundred at last check) and everything else.

It is set on an island that is a distance away from other land masses.  The events on the island wouldn't be known exactly to new people who haven't been on the island in a few weeks.

There have been two events that have taken place on the island.  One, the first, was the hanging of a military official from Malum who was plotting to overthrow the Island.  The other event involves the disappearance of a young woman, and the search for her in the jungle.  There is a second part to that event, but it's being held while people get caught up and get stuff done. 

There will be another event taking place soon, an optional event that is going to be a bit of a large tournament/fighting pit thing.  I am hoping to get most people involved with that, coming to the event to watch the fights and such, and that could be a way to get characters introduced and involved.

And on top of that, everyone in the group is amazing.  We're all really willing and happy to help with anyone looking to get involved.  I've got two tons of characters, and am always happy to help start scenes.

It is all pretty open, I have to admit.  There isn't, in my opinion, a strong need for anything in particular.  Honestly, just some writers and fresh blood is what's really needed.

It's really, really easy to just jump on in.

There is a new event, an optional one, starting up within the next week or two that is aimed at being a springboard for new people and people trying to get more interactions.  It's going to be a Gladiator-style fighting event where everyone is free to watch or participate.  The goal is to get a bunch of characters there and get people going with each other.

And like I've said, we're all pretty easy going and eager to help new faces get involved and get adjusted.

GM EVENT

A Rumble in the Jungle, Part Two:  Fight Night

Who:  Open to all on land.  Optional.
What:  The Opening of the New Fighting Pits, featuring various fights and matches.
Where:  Throughout the Island, but focused within the Jungle.
When:  Day of the Sixth

Rules

The new fighting pits of Effugios have been  opened.  Various matches and fights between interested combatants will be arranged and fought until a victor of men, women, and slave is crowned.

The first part of this will be largely social.  It will begin with the opening of the pits where individuals may come and mingle with one another, visit various stalls and stands.  Fights will take place soon after.  If you're interested in your characters fighting, please let me know.  I can arrange for a random draw, or set up pairings if you have a character you'd like to have your character fight.

How will matches be determined:

If the writers of the pairing do not have a preference of the winner, it will be drawn by random by the GM through dice rolls.  The physicality/intensity of the match, as well as the victor. 

From there the writers will write a single post of their characters combating one another, to be worked out through PMs, IMs, etc.  One post from each writer explaining the fight from their characters perspectives.

Writers may also write against wild and dangerous beasts if you so wish.

Ebb's Helpful Tips

Just as a general suggestion for doing fights in a systemless game like this one, I think that it's important to keep in mind that you can have goals for your character that are different than just "win the fight". So if you're working out with your partner how the fight's going to go down, it's worth looking for ways where both writers get something out of the experience, even if in-game there can only be one real "winner". Some examples:

- A beats B, but going into it everybody thought A was a huge favorite to win, and B ended up doing surprisingly well.
- A beats B, but A had to resort to cheating, or to some generally frowned-upon maneuver. Maybe only B knows (and can use the information later), or maybe it's evident to the crowd.
- A beats B, but it's because B took a dive due to some previous underhanded deal.
- A beats B, but B ends up hurt so viciously that they earn the attention or sympathy of some other character they've been trying to make a connection with.
- A beats B, but B wounds A severely enough that A's at a huge disadvantage in their next fight against C. And maybe that was C's plan all along.
- A beats B, but B learns some trick or quirk about A's fighting style that will give them a secret advantage the next time the two of them fight. Or B could sell that information to someone else...
- A beats B, but A and B were secretly in collusion to give a great show in order to build up A's reputation.


You get the idea. Point being that there are ways to make the fight more interesting if you look at scenarios more complex than "A beats B". Ideally you end up with an arrangement where both writers have fun with it, and it serves as a springboard for both of their ongoing stories.

Matches can also be arranged between NPCs. 

The Men and Women will fight until one is the victor of each gender.  Slaves will fight to the death.

Drawn images, artistic images, etc., are more than fine with me for any use in the story, even characters.  I only draw the line when it's anime, or overtly cartoonish with unrealistic proportions and the like.

To update you.....

I was gardening, pulling out plants and things that would make my new puppy sick or worse. We were laying down sod. The next thing I know, I'm twisting and falling and ended up breaking three bones on the top of my foot.

There's a large gladiator-style fighting event taking place in the Jungle thread.

Don't really have any characters or something like that which is of great need.  I've gotten most of that down with my own characters and GM NPCs.

Since I have been asked numerous times by potential members, I've gone ahead and copied the Event Directory from the OOC here for everyone to look at.  Each link will take you to an overview post that will identify what the event is, as well as rules, requirements, dates, etc.

GM Events

Here is where a general history and catalog of GM Events will be recorded.  Some are story arcs, and some are mere preludes to later events.  Each event, if taking place over multiple GM Posts, will show the appropriate links to following the GM Posts.

A Public Hanging in Effugios - GM Event:  Major story arc.  Taking place in the Village, Harbor, and Southern Beach thread.  Optional, and open to all in the vicinity of the town square.  A Malum Military Commander is hanged in public after secret plans come to light involving the dangerous future of the island.  Event takes place on the 1st of Summer.

Something Fishy Going On - GM Event:  This is a prelude to a future story, and centered on one post.  Taking place in the Open Waters thread.  A merchant ship is attacked and sank by a large and terrifying creature of the deep.  Event takes place on the 1st of Summer.

Rumble in the Jungle:  Part One, The Disappearance of Hannah Prescott:  Part one of a two part large event.  This event follows the disappearance of a young woman, the daughter of one of the richest merchants on the island, and the search for her.  A high reward has been placed for her safe return, bringing all sorts of characters in to the search in the hopes of making a quick break.  Event takes place on the evening of the 3rd of Summer, to the evening of the 5th of Summer.

Rumble in the Jungle:  Part Two, Fight Night:  Part two of a two part large event.  This event is centered around the grand opening of the new and improved Fighting Pits, located in the Jungle.  Opened by Lorehn of the Pits, and the Lord Gareon Drakaras, the grand opening is being marked by a grand series of fights, designed to unite the citizens of the island and promote unity and tranquility in the recent difficult times.

August 1st Event:  An upcoming event that is scheduled to launch on the 1st of August, 12:01 A.M, Eastern Standard Time.  This is the largest event to take place in the game, and will effect nearly everyone.

Out of the major religions, there really isn't a God or Goddess of Knowledge, Luck, or Fortune. 

HOWEVER...

The Shattered Island is set up to be a sort of world-building workshop.  It's a large area of islands and landforms that are independent from one another and from the larger nations.  Some of them have their own religions, and from there, various smaller religions are branched out via trade and cultural diffusion.  So you're more than welcome to create your own religion, and even your own little society in the Shattered Islands if you wish.

Information

The island has been taken over!

Lord Rodrick Portifer, commander of the Brotherhood of the Sword, a seatholder on the Council, and commander of Fort Freedom, has launched an attack on the island and it's waters.  Due to the unwitting efforts of Warrek Vollos, attempting to gather up as much dragon powder and heavy guns as possible to provide for the defense of the island previously, the Fort is heavily armed and heavily defended on the bluffs looking over the Harbor.

A great many ships anchored out in the bay have been damaged beyond repair, sunk and destroyed, by the guns of the fort.  Due to the position of the fort and the guns, a few ships have remained unscathed, those anchored further in along the docks outside the range of the Fort. 

Fires have been set in the Village, and armed men of the Brotherhood of the Sword, and their unknown allies, have begun to round up criminals and those deemed of significant value and desired by various crowns and kingdoms.  The casualties have been great and many, including the Lord Gareon Drakaras, unwittingly led to his death, where he was hung and hanged as a traitor to the Black Throne of Malum. 

This event is aimed to affect EVERYONE on the island.  Peace has been shattered.  Alliances will be tested.  Friendships will be forged anew.

Events and What's Going On

This thread is dedicated to the listing of major, GM-Pushed events that affect the island.  All events are available to be played in, however, please pay close attention to the dates.  If the dates/times of the event are not the Current Dates, please place any scenes or interactions or reactions in the History thread.

Current Open Dates

Morning of the Fourth (Midnight) to Evening (Midnight) of the Sixth, 237 Years after Decay.
Any posts, interactions, and the like, that are either started or continued on dates previous to the Fourth of Summer are asked to be placed in the History thread.

First of Summer, 237 Years after Decay
A public hanging took place in the Village Square at Dawn.  The confessed naval commander of Malum was found in a wreckage on the northern coast, and sentenced to death by hanging. 

On the open waters, the crews of the Black Dahlia and White Lotus, both under the command of Captain Bartholomew Redwater came within eye-sight of a kraken attack several miles away from the island out to sea.

Third of Summer, 237 Years after Decay
In the early morning of the Third, a young woman, the daughter of one of the island's richest merchants and importers, went missing somewhere in the wild of the Jungle.  Throughout the day, private search parties began to take place, organized by the father of the young woman.  With little success, the father of the young woman sent riders into the Village and the various large farming settlements to announce a large bounty and reward for the return of his daughter.


Fourth of Summer, 237 Years after Decay
Throughout the fourth, various incursions of groups of villagers, pirates, sellswords began to make their way into the wilds of the Jungle in search of the young woman and the reward placed upon her head.  There have been various reports of incidents involving the Accursed, those diseased, cannibal monsters that dwell deep in the wild.

On the evening of the Fourth, it is announced that an agreement has been in put in place between the Lord Gareon Drakaras, an exile of Malum and one of the richest men on the island, and Lorehn, the Mistress of the Fighting Pits, that will celebrate the opening of the brand new Effugios Fighting Pits.  Large, extravagant games will take place, it is announced, with various prizes and rewards for victors.

Meanwhile, from the depths of the jungle, news spreads of an alliance forged between the people of Effugios, represented by Warrek Vollos, Captain of the Bloodlust and seat holder on the Effugios Council of Three, and the natives of the Jungle to stand together in case of an impending attack.

Sixth of Summer, 237 Years after Decay
The Grand Fighting Pits of Effugios are opened in a brand new arena, set in the heart of the Jungle.  It is a large and grandiose event, attracting a great many of the inhabitants on the island.  There are fights taking place in the pits, merchants setting up shops and stalls outside the arena, slaves being sold, etc. 

But the events in the Pits come to an abrupt end with the firing of the guns of Fort Freedom upon ships anchored out in the mouth of the bay and harbor.  In a coup organized by Lord Rodrick Portifer of the Brotherhood of the Sword, a member of the Effugious Council of Three and commander of the Fort, members of the Brotherhood begin the quest of rounding up various "high-priority targets".  These targets are either deemed too dangerous, or are wanted considerably by the various kingdoms and governments of the world.  One casualty has been the Lord Gareon Drakaras.

Various ships that have been in the range of the guns of the Fort have been destroyed, including the Raven.  Ships that were further out to sea, or close to the village and docks were out of the range of the guns, and spared destruction by the heavy guns stationed in the fortress.  However, that does not mean the village and it's people have been spared from the violence and destruction.  Roaming bands of the Brotherhood of the Sword have engaged in various combats and skirmishes with inhabitants and those high-priority targets. 

In the Jungles, news of the Brotherhood's proclamation of emancipation have spread across the various plantations and farms, sparking various riots and rebellions of slaves and servants.

Some things I'm looking for with some of my characters...


Warrek Vollos - Pirate captain of the Bloodlust.  He is, currently in the game, the last member standing of the elected Council that governs over the island.  Currently struggling with the overwhelming burden of unwittingly helped the coup, in addition to being the defacto leader when all he wants to do is be pirating.  I'm looking for something of a love interest for him, crew members, etc. 

Lora Langstor - Former slave, former pirate captain of the Raven.  With the current coup, her ship and livelihood has been destroyed, and is struggling to find a footing in the aftermath of the carnage.  Hell-bent on revenge, while finding herself taking care of an orphaned baby found in the streets during the attack.  I'd like to find a female love interest for her, and any potential allies, friends, etc.

Baela - Priestess of the Holy Darkness.  She is a devout believer and practitioner of the power of dark magic, and dabbles in blood rituals.  Surrounded by tall, cloaked religious soldiers who are charged with keeping her protected.  Throughout the current stories, Baela has weakened herself considerably, crippling herself in essence, in a blood ritual in exchange for highly valuable and dangerous ingredients from a slaver.  Ideally, I would like to find something of a follower of the Holy Darkness who becomes something of a loyal and faithful servant to her cause.

Cabyria - Proud Slave and Talented Pit Fighter.  Currently in the service of Korik after helping, to her shame, to run away from and destroy her former Master's plantation, she is at a crossroads in life, struggling with what she has done, and the shame this slave, who is proud of her enslavement, feels.  While she already has a slave of her own, I'd really like to find her a rival of sorts.  Another slave to fight and rub salt into the wounds, so to speak.
