The Core.

For me, nothing will ever beat The Core for 'best bad movie'.

im split between Troll two and Silent Night Deadly Night 2.

the one that gave us this lovely thing.

My favorite 'bad movie' has to be 'Legend of the Eight Samurai', known among my friends as 'Japanese Elvis and his mom try to take over the world.'  You have a princess named Su Zhi (Or Shi Zu - the script can't decide), who has to assemble eight ninjas (the word 'samurai' only ever appears in the title) in order to defeat the evil queen - who bathes in blood to remain young - and her son, who has a pompadour straight out of the '50s.

I'd also have to nominate troll 2. It's... fascinatingly bad. There's even a documentary on how fascinatingly bad it is. Have you ever seen a movie where people make out by using corn on the cob?

Cuz you have now.

There's also 'The Room', by Tommy Wiseau. Intended to be a serious drama, it's actually a very hilarious movie due to everything being so bad. Imagine someone trying to make a serious drama about their love life with someone, but then everyone isn't even trying to act in it and people throw waterbottles before asking people how their sex life is nonchalantly.

But probably the worst film that i've seen in a hilarious fashion is Foodfight! An awful... Barely CGI animated abortion I saw sometime in 2012 when it was posted on another discussion forum. This was meant to be a big budget movie that would have grocery store/food mascots interacting with things ala Toy story. Instead, we got this:

Beguile's Mistress

"Screech of the Decapitated"

Melusine

I second The Room. Also, Dungeons and Dragons. Just Jeremy Irons' performance transforms it from a boringly bad film into an entertainingly bad one.

Valerian

I haven't had the, er, pleasure of seeing this one myself, but a friend of mine insists that a film called Rubber has to be the best bad movie ever.  It's the story of an abandoned tire that develops psychokinetic powers and goes on a killing spree.  I thought at first he was making it all up, but it's a real movie.  The tire's name is Robert.  ::)

Troll 2 and the Room have both gone beyond being "so bad they're good" to arguably being masterpieces. I'm still somewhat convinced that the Room and Tommy Wiseau is actually a carefully crafted piece of performance art/social experiment.

Likewise both Plan 9 from Outerspace and Manos Hands of Fate are automatic entries onto such a list.

Pretty much all of the low budget monster movies that have come out in recent times... notably anything linked to the The Asylum or with "giant", "mega" or "shark" in the title... is an attempt to hit the "so bad it's good" market, although for me the most well known of these (Sharknado) was a little too self-aware for its own good; a truly "so bad it's good" movie thinks isn't aware that it's bad and is convinced it's good.

Personally I think Humanoids of the Deep/Monster deserves a place in this unlikely pantheon. For most of the film it's a fairly generic relatively low budget 1970's/early 80's monster movie/exploitation flick and so entertaining in a lowbrow way. Then, out of nowhere, you cut to scenes of the monsters raping people. And when I say out of nowhere I pretty much mean it; the rape scenes were filmed and added in during post-production by a backup director because the producer wanted them in there (notably they didn't tell any of the main actors). It's utterly bizzare and fairly hilarious.

The Wicker Man remake deserves a mention simply for the "not the bees!" dialogue.

I should note that I actually love cheesy 80's action adventures and schlocky cheap horror films so a number of the usual contenders for this sort of "award"... Commando, Road House, Hell Comes to Frogtown, Anaconda, Masters of the Universe etc etc... don't really cut for me as I don't think they're bad movies; they're in essence genre films which play entirely to what a genre audience wants. I think the same can be said for some of the worst blaxploitation flicks (the Black Gestapo being a notable one); they knew what a genre audience liked and pretty much just stuck to that; in that regard they're less bad films and more simply films with a very limited ambition.

Reefer Madness, for obvious reasons. Story of Ricky for its legendarily ridiculous fight scenes.

Beorning

Have you guys, by chance, seen Birdemic? I've watched some online reviews for it (which included some scenes) and it looked pretty bad.

Zekromnomnom

I'm a huge fan of 80's cheesy horror movies. Cause a guy in a ridiculous rubber suit is still better than some of the torture porn BS coming out in the last few years.

That said, I agree with the mention of Humanoids from the Deep and Troll 2. Oh, and we can't forget my favorite action flick in this particular category, Con Air.

There are quite a few. Though some are entertaining to watch on a rainy or sick day.

Street Fighter with Jean-Claude Van Damme

Red Sonja

Kull the Conquerer with Kevin Sorbo

Bad remakes/reboots of movies. Like Sabrina with Harrison Ford.

Dragonball: Evolution

There are a couple of British low-budget horror flicks that I don't personally consider 'bad' but the general consensus is the opposite. Two recommendations from the same director (I forget his name), Doghouse and Evil Aliens, are definitely worth a view if you can find them.
Considering a permanent retirement from Elliquiy, but you can find me on Blue Moon (under the same username).

For you, the day Bison's presence graced your village changed your life!
But for me - it was Tuesday.

The only movie Roger Corman was Executive Producer on that he didn't want the credit for and if that wasn't bad enough fought any attempt at a DVD release.

SORCERESS (1982)
Short clip from the movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwvR113-7bM

It is on YouTube the full movie watch this gem though while you can.   ;D

I'm shocked no one has mentioned Teeth yet... O:)

There's a film series called Transsexual Dynasty that I'd like to see - from the title alone it could be ridiculously bad (in either sense) or at any rate...highly interesting.  :P

I see that Red Sonja was mentioned. I admit that when I was a kid, I thought that Red Sonja was a cool movie :)

RubySlippers, thanks for the mention of Sorceress. You say that *Corman* is ashamed of that movie? Now that's saying something  ;D

(BTW. I kind of like Corman - his original version of Not Of This Earth is actually a fun movie)

I see that Teeth was mentioned. Sooooo... it's bad?

Do you know the premise of 'Teeth'?  I read about it on 366 Weird Movies (which is also a fabulous source of 'so bad they're good' movies - as well as the also-rans).

Yes, I've read about the movie's premise... and I thought it was interesting. I thought that this movie could be everything from idiotic to genius. That's why I'm curious what it's really like :)

Dead Snow, Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead, Iron Sky, and I'm sure that the sequel Iron Sky: The Coming Race will be just as bad.  How can you say no to lizard nazis from the center of the earth AND Hitler riding a T-Rex named Blondi?

Thanks for mentioning this one.  I was literally just telling the little Oni (within the past hour) that a movie about Nazis on the moon was a real thing.
